THE NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: 10006616. B) THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHEN FULLY STOPPED, AT TIMES, PRESSES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. C) THE AIR CONDITIONER THAT EVER EMITS A MOLDY SMELL. D) THE DRIVER SIDE AIR CONDITIONER, AT TIMES, BLOWS HOT, WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS COLD. E) THE EVER PRESENT INTERIOR MOLDY SMELL. F) THE DRIVER SIDE TRIM PANEL HAS DROPPED DOWN; TO WHEREBY, ANY OUTSIDE, REARVIEW MIRROR ADJUSTMENTS ARE ALMOST AN IMPOSSIBILITY, AND THE DOOR LOCKS ARE DIFFICULT TO SECURELY OPERATE. G) THE INOPERATIVE, KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE. G) THE DASH LIGHTS, AT TIMES, ARE INOPERATIVE. H) SINCE FIRST PURCHASE, THREE (3) NEW BATTERIES HAVE BEEN PURCHASED, TWO (2), WITHIN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER READING ERRATIC SPEEDS (I.E. 110 MPH WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH) I THOUGHT IT WOULD GO BACK TO 0 MPH WHEN I STOPPED BUT IT DIDN'T. INSTEAD IT WENT PASSED 120 MPH AND HAS BEEN THERE EVER SINCE. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM I NOTICED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I HAVE A GPS THAT TELLS ME HOW FAST I'M GOING SO I CAN STILL DRIVE IT BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR FREAKS OUT BEHIND THE WHEEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. ALL OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL HAVE FAILED. A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER STATED THAT SINCE HER VEHICLE HAS EXCEEDED 80,00 MILES SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $500.00 FOR THE REPAIR. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE FOR HER MODEL TYPE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 111,000.
TRACTION ACTIVE APPEARS ON DISPLAY - WHILE STOPPED AT A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR ONLY TO HAVE THE TRACTION ACTIVE LIGHT APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO LET OFF THE GAS AND THEN PRESS IT AGAIN IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AT AN APPROPRIATE SPEED IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. *TR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT I WAS TRAVELING AT A RATE OF 120MPH. I TOOK MY 2004 YUKON TO THE GARAGE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (AT A COST OF $800.00). THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS IS BECOMING A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE 2004 YUKON AND THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. MY QUESTION TO GMC IS, HOW MANY DEATHS DOES IT TAKE TO GET A RECALL? THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS SO. I BOUGHT MY TRUCK USED, AND THE WARRANTY IS NO LONGER VALID. MY SISTER OWNS A 2005 YUKON THAT SHE JUST PURCHASED (STILL UNDER WARRANTY) AND HER INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS JUST REPLACED LAST WEEK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE DRIVE- FRONT WHEEL HUB MADE A RATTLING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. . HE CALLED BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL NUMBER 07E106000 (WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB). HE WAS ADVISED THAT HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,200.
UPON TAKING DELIVERY OF VEHICLE ERRATIC ELECTRICAL PROBLEM EXISTED. OFTEN ONLY THE FRONT DOORS WOULD LIKE, LEAVING THE BACK DOORS AND REAR DOOR UNLOCKED. OFTEN UPON INSERTING KEY IN IGNITION, DRIVERS SEAT WOULD ZOOM FORWARD PUSHING OCCUPANT AGAINST STEERING WHEEL. WHILE DRIVING, OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS WOULD RETRACT FOR NO REASON. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THOUGH MANY SERVICE NOTES EXIST. LATELY, THE AMP GAUGE FAILED HOWEVER AMPERAGE IS NOT AFFECTED. NEXT THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWED 38 MPH WHILE NOT MOVING. IT IS TOTALLY NOW INOPERATIVE, VARYING FROM NEVER LEAVING ZERO TO SHOWING 80 WHILE GOING 20 MPH. SINCE I CANNOT TRUST THE ACCURACY OF ANY GAUGE, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I AM DRIVING OR ANY OF THE OTHER VITAL INSTRUMENT READINGS. *TR
SPEEDOMETER OPERATES ERRATICALLY IF AT ALL. VEHICLE HAS 100,000 MILES AND GM WILL ONLY REPLACE THE CLUSTER IF UNDER 70,000 MILES. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED HE RECEIVED AN INFORMATIONAL LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARDS TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. HE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE AT THE TIME. SIX MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATED HE WAS TRAVELING AT 120 MPH. THE DEALER ADVISED THE DEALER HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR REPAIRS TO VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 70,000 ACCRUED MILES. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HAD 79,000 MILES. THE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED PAST 70,000 TO 80,000 MILES HOWEVER, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HAD VERY RECENTLY PASSED 80,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE ABS TRACTION CONTROL ON MY 2004 YUKON DENALI ACTIVATES ON DRY ROADS AND NEARLY CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. WHILE PULLING OUT ONTO THE ROAD, THE TRACTION CONTROL KICKED IN AND CUT POWER TO THE TRUCK. I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR

2004 YUKON 4.8 L HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TEMP GAUGE READING 260' AND ABOVE AT ANYTIME . THE TRUCK HAS 72,000 MILES AND ALWAYS OPERATED WELL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE POWER STEERING SHAFT IN THE PUMP BROKE WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
I OWN A 2004 GMC YUKON XL DENALI AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AS THEY CALL IS BROKEN. GMC KNOW OF THIS AND IT EFFECT THOUSAND OF VEHICLE THAT THEY MAKE. INCLUDING ENVOY, TAHOE, YUKON, AND DENALI. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST I'M GOING, IF MY TANK IS FULL OR EMPTY OR TEMPERATURE OR MY ENGINE/TRANSMISSION. I ALMOST BECAME A VICTIM, MY CLUSTER RECENTLY BECAME BROKEN AFTER AN ALMOST FATAL ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE CUT OFF WITH ME NEXT TO A BIG RIG. I'M TRYING TO CONTROL A BIG SUBURBAN AND WITHOUT POWER FOR MY POWER STEERING THE VEHICLE WAS A [XXX] TO STEER. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT WHEN I LEFT THE HOUSE MY FUEL SAID 3/4 AND 15 MILES LATER I'M ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WONDERING WHY MY TRUCK WONT START. COME TO FIND OUT, I RAN OUT OF GAS WITH MT GAUGE STILL ON 3/4. NOW MY SPEED IS ERRATIC AND I HAVE NO CLUE HOW FAST I AM GOING IF IT WERE NOT FOR MY GPS UNIT. ANYWAY I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID ITS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND IF I'M OVER 80,000 MILE THEY CANT HELP. [XXX] THE WARRANTY THIS IS A LAW SUIT WAITING TO BE FILED. FUEL INDICATOR GIVES FAULTY FUEL LEVELS, ELECTRIC SEATS FAIL TO ADJUST,TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AT 92000 MILES-SUPPOSEDLY GEARED TO PULL 10,000#. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON DELAWARE ROUTE # 1 DOING THE SPEED LIMIT (65MPH) IN MY 2004 GMC YUKONXL WHEN I LOST POWER TO THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER EVEN WITHIN FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. AFTER ASSESSING THE SITUATION I REALIZE THAT MY MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING WITH THE DASH INDICATORS SHOWING THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE REDUCED POWER SIGNAL LIGHT ON. WHEN TRAFFIC HAD CLEARED I ATTEMPTED TO GO BACK ON THE HIGHWAY BUT FOUND I COULD ONLY TRAVEL BETWEEN 35-40 MILES PER HOUR. KNOWING THAT THERE WAS A GM DEALER AHEAD IN 15-20 MILES I CONTINUED ON RT #1 SINCE THE SPEED LIMIT AHEAD WAS REDUCED TO 55MPH. WHEN I REACHED THE GM DEALER I.G.BURTON IN MILFORD DELAWARE I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION AND WAS TOLD THAT I PROBABLY HAD A BAD THROTTLE BODY (CARBURETOR) AND THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY SEEMED TO SAY THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM. I WENT AHEAD AND HAD THE WORK DONE AT THAT POINT FOR A COST OF $568.32. *TR
THE BACK GLASS ON OUR 2004 GMC YUKON XL BROKE AT THE RIGHT HINGE AT FIRST. WE HARDLY EVER OPENED THE BACK GLASS, SO THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE. TODAY THE LEFT BACK GLASS HINGE BROKE. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A RECALL ON THIS, HOWEVER THERE ISN'T ONE. GMC IS AWARE AND ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM BUT ISN'T WILLING TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. FOUND MANY FORUMS WHERE OTHER GMC & CHEVY OWNERS ARE FACING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT CAN BE FIXED FOR AROUND $1000.00 BUT SINCE IT IS APPARENTLY A DEFECT ON THEIR END.....WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT? PLEASE HELP!!! *TR
SPEEDOMETER ISSUES, FAILURE, IMPROPER READINGS, DEALERSHIP WON'T REPAIR AS REPLACEMENT WAS ONLY COVERED IF UNDER 70,000 AND PARTS ONLY UNDER 80,000. I HAVE 90,000 ON IT NOW. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. I RECEIVED NO LETTERS OR RECALLS INDICATING A NEED TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER. *TR
WITH THE RECENT GM RECALL ON POWERSTEERING MOTORS I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A PROBLEM. I OWN A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY POWERSTEERING AS DESCRIBED WITH THE COBOLTS AND PONTIACS. . THE FLUID AND PUMP HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND WERE FINE. *TR
MY 2004 GMC YUKON SPEEDOMETER (MANUAL NEEDLE-TYPE) JUST KEEPS INCREASING ITS SPEED READING UNTIL IT "PEGS-OUT" AT THE 130 MPH MARK. IF YOU TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTART THE ENGINE, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL JUMP-BACK ABOUT 5 MPH. SO IF ONE DOES THIS 25 TIMES, IT WILL ZERO ITSELF OUT. AFTER ONLY SHORT AMOUNTS OF DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL AGAIN START INCREASING ITS READY AGAIN. IT APPEARS TO INCREASE THE READING AS ONE INCREASES IN SPEED, BUT DOESN'T DECREASE THE SPEED AS ONE DECREASES THEIR SPEED. OBVIOUSLY THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW YOUR ACTUAL SPEED. FORTUNATELY MY GPS HAS SPEED READOUTS, BUT IT IS DELAYED BY ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 21000 MILES ON MY YUKON, SO THE SPEEDOMETER SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN OR "WORN-OUT" THIS QUICKLY. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER FAILED ON MY 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR THIS FOR MODEL YEAR 2003-2006, BUT ONLY UP TO 80,000. I HAD 104,000 WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MY VEHICLE. IT COST ME $600 TO GET THIS DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SHOULD NOT HAVE A LIMIT ON MILEAGE. NOT KNOWING HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. BY DRIVING TO SLOW, ONE CAN CAUSE OTHER DRIVERS TO ERRATICALLY PASS AND ZOOM BY YOU OR DRIVING TO FAST CAN CAUSE OTHER DRIVERS TO HURRIEDLY GET OUT OF YOUR WAY AND CAUSE ACCIDENTS. THIS IS MORE THAN LIKELY THE CAUSE OF A SPEEDING TICKET I GOT BACK IN MAY 2009. IT POSSIBLY WAS ACTING UP, BUT DIDN'T COMPLETELY FAIL UNTIL JULY 2009. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IS ERRATIC, USUALLY SHOWING 130 MPH. THE OIL GAUGE AND GAS GAUGE HAVE NOW STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. WE CAN ONLY GAUGE OUR SPEED BY USING A GPS. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND WE HAVE OVER 100,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR SERVICE AND A LEAK WAS DISCOVERED COMING FROM THE HYDRO-BOOST BRAKE ASSEMBLY. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 04V045000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 05V043000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 35,964.
I HAVE A 2004 YUKON THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY A LED LIGHT HAS BURNED OUT 5 TIMES SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE THE WARRANTY HAS COVERED THE PROBLEM I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF YUKONS AND TAHOES IN THE SAME YEAR SPAN WITH BURNED OUT LIGHT PROBLEMS THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE A SAFETY ITEM TO STOP REAR END CRASHES IF THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE PROBLEM IT IS A EXPENSIVE PART. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. THE DIALS IN THE GAUGES DO NOT MOVE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED. THE GMC MANUFACTURER STATED THAT ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANELS IN THE 2004 MODELS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE, AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED AND WOULD BE THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
2004 GMC YUKON XL: WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS THIS VEHICLE WILL HAVE A WARNING LIGHT COME ON THAT SAYS "REDUCED ENGINE SPEED" THEN IT SHUTS DOWN TO 30 MPH INSTANTLY. THERE IS NO TIME FOR REACTION. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER 50 TIMES! A FEW OF THE TIMES ALMOST RESULTED IN FATAL CONSEQUENCES IN HIGH TRAFFIC. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AND THE NEXT DAY HAD THE SAME ISSUE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS NOW THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY. REPLACED THE ASSEMBLY AND TWO DAYS LATER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.CONTACTED GMC BY PHONE AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WASN'T ON THE SAFETY RECALL LIST. I REALLY NEED SOME ADVICE OR HELP BEFORE IT COSTS MY WIFE AND FOUR CHILDREN THEIR LIVES! *TR
FLASHING ABS LIGHT AND THEN ALTERNATING FLASHING TC (TRACTION CONTROL) LIGHT. THEN THE VEHICLE LOCKS UP THE LEFT SIDE FRONT BRAKE AND PULLS THE VEHICLE INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. CAUSE BY THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILING ON THE VEHICLE. REPLACEMENT OF PART REMOVES ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS INACCURATE SPEEDS. WHILE IDLING, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL READ 40 MPH OR JUMP FROM 40 MPH TO 100 MPH. THE ONLY NEW EQUIPMENT WAS THE REAR BUMPER, WHICH WAS REPLACED IN 2006. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE DUE TO THE MILEAGE. THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT WAS THE ONLY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURES. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE A 2004 YUKON DENALI XL, I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SPEEDOMETER BEING ERRATIC. I WILL BE DRIVING WITH TRAFFIC IN A 35 MPH ZONE LOOK AT MY SPEEDO IT SAYS I'M DOING 110 MPH. SPEEDOMETER FAILURE ON 2004 YUKON XL. WORKS FINE UNTIL SUDDEN FAILURE. SOME SPORADIC ATTEMPTS TO WORK AFTER BUT SPEEDOMETER CAN EASILY BE OFF BY 30-40 MPH. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE GM VEHICLES AND IS KNOWN BY GM. APPARENTLY THE STEPPER MOTORS MOVING THE NEEDLES ARE FAILING. THE SPEEDOMETER IS USUALLY FIRST (LIKE MINE) FOLLOWED BY THE OTHER GAUGES IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS THEY ARE ALL DRIVEN BY SIMILAR STEPPER MOTORS. A REASONABLE EXPECTATION IS TO HAVE THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER GAUGES LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. A FAILURE HERE AND THERE IS UNDERSTANDABLE BUT WHEN YOU HAVE FAILURES AT THIS FREQUENCY GOING ON IT IS OBVIOUS THAT IT WAS UNDER DESIGNED. MY 2004 GMC YUKON XL SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS STUCK AT 10MPH FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. IT WENT BACK DOWN TO ZERO BUT WOULD NOT REGISTER PROPERLY AFTER THAT. IT IS PRESENTLY STUCK AT 120MPH EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER FROZE AND DISPLAYED 75 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE CORRECT SPEED THAT HE WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $350, BUT NO REPAIRS HAVE YET BEEN MADE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WAS FILED, WHICH WOULD REPAIR THE SPEEDOMETER UP TO 70,000 MILES OR SEVEN YEARS. MY VEHICLE HAS OVER 80,000 MILES ON IT AND IS NOT COVERED BY ANY SORT OF GMC WARRANTY AND/OR REPLACEMENT PLAN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I VERY RARELY USE MY REAR GLASS HATCH OF MY 2004 YUKON, BUT RECENTLY WHEN HAVING TO LOAD UP MY YUKON TO EVACUATE HURRICANE GUSTAV. WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE IT, I HEARD A LOAD POP AND NOTICED THAT THE LEFT REAR GLASS HINGE HAD BROKEN UP. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I CALLED THE GMC DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY HAVE THE REPLACEMENT IN STOCK, BUT SINCE THEY DO NOT DEEM IT A SAFETY ISSUE, THE PART HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. I FIND THIS SHOCKING SINCE THEY KNOW THAT IT HAPPENS ENOUGH TO WHERE THEY KEEP THIS ITEM IN STOCK AT THE DEALERSHIP AND CHARGE YOU $900 TO REPLACE IT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. WHILE REMOVING THE THIRD ROW SEAT FROM THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT A PIECE OF THE PART USED TO PROPERLY LATCH THE SEAT TO THE FLOORBOARD FAILED. WITHOUT THIS PIECE, THE SEAT IS DANGEROUS TO RIDE IN BECAUSE IT IS NOT PROPERLY SECURED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HE MUST PURCHASE THE WHOLE PART RATHER THAN THE PIECE THAT FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
