I HAVE A 2004 YUKON THAT HAS THE REAR HATCH BACK. THE GLASS HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. I TALKING TO BODY SHOPS AND THE DEALERSHIP, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT THAT UNCOMMON. ONE LOCAL OWNER OF A AUTO BODY SHOP SAID THEY THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE WAY THESE WINDOWS ARE ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON XL AT THE TIME I NOTICED THE DAMAGE TO THE REAR HATCHBACK WINDOW, THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 45,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME,THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE IS THE HINGES HAS BROKEN AWAY FROM THE GLASS WHICH I TRULY BELIEVE IS A DESIGN FLAW.I HAVE TAKEN A STRAP AND TIED THE GLASS DOWN TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING OUT ON THE INTERSTATE,CAUSING DAMAGE OR INJURY TO ANOTHER VEHICLE,THE GLASS ITSELF HAS NOT BEEN BROKEN OR DAMAGE BUT IT IS THE HINGES WHICH HAS SEPERATED FROM THE GLASS. *TT
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GIVING FALSE READINGS, SPEEDOMETER STUCK AT 10 MPH EVEN WHEN TRAVELING ANYTHING OVER TEN MPH. GAS NEEDLE IS NO LONGER READING ACCURATELY UNDER 1/4 TANK , WHICH HAS CAUSED SOME EMBARRASSING MOMENTS RUNNING OUT OF GAS WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD FUEL. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS AN AVALANCHE AND HER INSTRUMENT PANEL IS DOING THE SAME THING, HER SPEEDOMETER AND TACH ARE NOW MALFUNCTIONING. HAS ANYONE MANAGED TO FIND OUT IF WE CAN GET THIS REPLACED VIA RECALL? *TR
FUEL GAUGE IS ERRATIC, MOST OFTEN SHOWING THE TANK EMPTY WHEN UP TO HALF FULL. *TR
I WAS RELEASING THE THIRD ROW SEATING AND THE LOCKING MECHANISM BROKE. THERE IS A "CLAMP" THAT LOCKS THE SEATS TO THE FLOOR THIS 1/4 INCH METAL CLAMP BROKE IN HALF. NOW THE DRIVER'S SIDE THIRD ROW SEATING IS NOT ABLE TO BE LOCKED INTO PLACE IN ORDER FOR ANYONE TO RIDE THERE. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2004 GMC YUKON IN MARCH OF 2008, PREVIOUSLY IT HAD BEEN A FLEET VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN COLORADO, AND DROVE IT TO WASHINGTON STATE. SHORTLY AFTER WE ARRIVED, THE TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING. IT GETS STUCK AT ETHER 25 RPMS, OR 75 RPMS. THE SPEEDOMETER READS ACCURATELY, AND ONLY RECENTLY THE FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN STICKING. I HAD GOTTEN A NOTICE THAT THESE PARTS HAD BEEN "RECALLED" BUT ONLY FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME, FOR VEHICLES OVER 7,000 MILES ON IT. AT THE TIME MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD ABOUT 6,500 MILES. WHEN I CALLED A GMC OFFICE THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR GMC DENALI USED IN JULY 2007. IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR I NOTICED SOMETIMES THAT WHEN I WOULD LOOK AT THE SPEEDOMETER IT WOULD SAY THAT I WAS DOING ABOUT 40 MPH, WHEN I KNEW THAT I WAS NOT GOING THAT SPEED. I WAS KEEPING UP WITH TRAFFIC WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT AND THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 55MPH. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I NOTICED THAT THE SPEED ODOMETER WOULD SAY I WAS NOT MOVING AT ALL THAT MY SPEED WAS 0, AND I WOULD BE DRIVING AT THE TIME. THEN IN JULY OF THIS YEAR WE WERE COMING BACK FROM A FAMILY DAY TRIP AND WE WERE PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING. THE OFFICER INFORMED US THAT WE WERE GOING ABOUT 55 WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 40. ACCORDING TO THE SPEED ODOMETER WE WERE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. NOW WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE I AM EITHER GO NO SPEED AT ALL OR THE SPEED ODOMETER STARTS GOING CRAZY OR GETS STUCK AT 40MPH. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FINE ANY RECALL ON THIS MATTER. *TR
TURN SIGNALS FLASH BOTH LEFT TURN AND RIGHT TURN SIGNAL WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURN. ALL EXTERNAL BULBS ASSOCIATED WITH TURN SIGNALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. GMC STATES THE YUKON IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS ISN'T A RECALL PROBLEM AND THAT ANY REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. *TR
2004 GMC YUKON XL - SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. WILL STAY ON ZERO ON ONE DAY, THEN PEG TO 140+ ON ANOTHER. I CAN MAINTAIN SPEED VIA TACH, BUT MY WIFE IS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS METHOD. VEHICLE HAS 54,000 MILES. *TR
THE DRIVER WISHING TO SIGNAL A TURN BY MOVING THE DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL LEVER, (UP OR DOWN) MAY CAUSE THE FRONT MARKER/TURN LIGHTS AND REAR TURN LIGHTS TO FLASH IN A MANNER SIMILAR TO HAZARD WARNING, RATHER THAN FLASHING ON THE DESIRED SIDE ONLY. SAME AS NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V198000 WHY WASN'T YUKON INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT NOTICED A LEAK UNDER THE HOOD OF HIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE HYDRO BOOST FAILED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY $861 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC INFORMED HIM THAT HE COULD HAVE RUN OUT OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKE FLUID, AND THE SEAL FAILED AND WAS LEAKING. THE FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH DUE TO THE LOSS OF THE FLUIDS IN THE VEHICLE AND THE INABILITY TO BRAKE. THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING ARE ONE UNIT. A GMC REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT HE WOULD CALL THE CONTACT IN 24 HOURS TO DISCUSS WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL PAY FOR THE PARTS OR A PORTION OF THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,498 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,448.
DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN TAKING THE SPEED FROM 35MPH OR ABOVE TO 5-10 MILES MPH WITH OUT WARNING. THIS CONTINUOUSLY HAPPENED AS YEARS PASSED AND GM CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOP NEVER FOUND WHAT'S WRONG. UNTIL ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO, I GOOGLED ISSUE AND FOUND ITS RELATED TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND WIRING FROM PEDAL THAT LEADS TO ENGINE THROTTLE CONTROL, I CHANGED THROTTLE CONTROL PLUG TO NEW AND REPLACED ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH USED PART AND WORKED FINE FOR TWO YEARS BUT HAS NOW STARTED FAILING AGAIN. I AM AFRAID OF THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I COULD BE ON FREEWAY GOING 65 MPH AND IF THESE FAIL AS THEY HAVE AND ARE, I THEN SLOW DOWN TO 5-10 MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. PLEASE HELP, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 GMC YUKON XL DENALI HAS STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. IT STAYS PEGGED AT 110MPH. IT NEVER WORKS CORRECTLY. *TR
SPEEDOMETER HAS INTERMITTEN FAILURE. IT REGISTERS INCORRECT SPEEDS (OFTEN SHOWING 80 MOH WHEN PARKED) OR DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. *TR
FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS MY SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE HAS BEEN GETTING STUCK. ONCE I HIT 60MPH, IT GETS STUCK THERE. WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR IT STAYS AT 60 SO IT ACTS AS IF IT'S AT 0MPH. AT THAT POINT IT LOOKS LIKE I'M GOING 100MPH WHEN IN REALITY I'M GOING 40MPH UNTIL IT GETS STUCK PAST 120MPH. AFTER A FEW DAYS IT STARTS SLOWLY DROPPING. IT'S AMAZING THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AFTER MANY MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS. I WILL MAKE SURE TO GIVE NEGATIVE REPORTS TO ANYONE LOOKING TO BUY A GM VEHICLE AS WELL AS TO POTENTIAL USED GM OWNERS. *TR
WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND LOOKED AT MY SPEEDOMETER AND IT WAS AT 120MPH. STOPPED AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND THE SPEEDOMETER STAYED AT 120MPH. NOW I HAVE AN INOPERABLE SPEEDOMETER IN MY TRUCK. *TR
AT 71,200 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY YUKON XL WENT OUT. I CALLED THE LOCAL GMC DEALER REGARDING ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED THAT IF I HAD SERVICED MY VEHICLE WITH THEM THEY COULD HAVE POSSIBLY MADE AN EXCEPTION. I WAS GIVEN THE 1800# TO CALL. AFTER CALLING THE 1800#, I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE MATTER. IN TWO WEEKS I WAS NOTIFIED THAT GMC WOULD BE UNABLE TO HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY HELPED ME ENOUGH WITH THE SHAFT THAT HAD BEEN LUBRICATED SEVERAL TIMES AT NO COST TO ME. I REMINDED THEM THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT THAT HAD TAKEN TIME FROM ME TAKING MY VEHICLE EVERY 3 TO 6 MONTHS TO GET OILED. LAST WEEK I TOOK MY YUKON TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND ASK THAT THEY OIL THE SHAFT AGAIN. I WAS INFORMED THEY NO LONGER DO THIS BECAUSE THEY CAME UP WITH THE PART TO REPLACE IT LAST YEAR 2007. BUT BECAUSE I'M OUT OF WARRANTY THEY CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE UNLESS I PAY. YOU WOULD THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WHEN I TOOK IT IN IN NOVEMBER 2007 FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND GET THAT SHAFT LUBRICATED. THAT WAS ANOTHER GMC DEALER. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED ON MY 2004 YUKON XL. THE NEEDLE DROPPED TO ZERO WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
MY 2004 GMC DENALI HAS SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND GAS GAGE NOT SHOWING CORRECT READINGS. SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 50,60,70 WHEN YOU ARE ONLY GOING 30. SOMETIMES ON THE HIGHWAY I AM PASSING EVERYONE AND HAVE NO CLUE AS TO HOW FAST I AM GOING. I CAN BE GOING PRETTY FAST JUST SETTING STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT SOMETIMES. AND I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE ANYMORE. THEY SENT OUT A LETTER THAT STATED THAT THEY WOULD FIX THIS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR 7 YEARS OR 70,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. WELL MY VEHICLE HAS 108000 MILES ON IT, BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT TO TRAVEL IN AND WE DRIVE IT. THEY DON'T CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, SO NO RECALL. SINCE WHEN DOES DRIVING 90 MILES AN HOUR WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING 70 NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? OR PERHAPS RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE AND FREEZING TO DEATH. *TR
ERRATIC READINGS WITH OFFSETS IN THE SPEEDOMETER. *TR
I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF ONE 11 YEAR OLD SON. I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 2004 GMC YUKON AND I HAVE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS. I HAVE A LOUD POPPING NOISE IN MY STEERING COLUMN AND MY SPEEDOMETER IS OPERATING VERY ERRATICALLY. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY LOCAL GMC DEALER THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE NOT COVERED. MY CONCERN IS IF I SHOULD BE KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE I CAN NOT TELL HOW FAST I AM TRAVELING WHEN THE FRONT STEERING BREAKS DUE TO A STEERING COMPONENT FAILURE WHO WILL RAISE MY SON THE STATE OR GMC? I HAVE LOST ALL RESPECT FOR GMC AND THEIR PRODUCTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING. THE FAILURE NORMALLY WOULD OCCUR ONLY DURING THE COLD WINTER TEMPERATURES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE INTERMITTENTLY DURING HOT TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE MIDDLE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SOFT TISSUE INJURIES TO HER NECK, SHOULDER, BACK, AND LEGS. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 41,500.
FIRST THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE 2008. MY SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED THE WRONG SPEED. MY SETTINGS FOR THE SEAT AND MIRRORS QUIT WORKING OVER TIME.HOT AIR WOULD COME OUT OF MY VENTS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON RANDOMLY. RADIO, NAVIGATION, HEAT, AIR CONDITIONER AND MIRRORS WOULD TURN ON/OFF RANDOMLY WITHOUT TOUCHING CONTROLS. THE LAST 3 YEARS WENT THROUGH 3 BATTERIES IN 3 YEARS. TESTS SHOWED AT LEAST 5 THINGS ARE ACTIVELY DRAINING BATTERY IN THE FUSE BOX. ISSUES HAPPENED MOSTLY WHEN CAR WAS ON BUT MIRRORS WOULD RANDOMLY MOVE WHEN CAR WAS NOT ON, VERY CREEPY.
THE SPEEDOMETER IS STARTING TO INCREASE IN A TICKING SORT OF WAY, SOMETIMES GETTING STUCK AND/OR PEGGING OUT AT 120MPH THEN FALLING BACK INTO RANGE. IT STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED ABOUT 45,500 MILES. IT NOW HAS 45,600 MILES ON IT, AND IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. *TR
2004 GMC YUKON XL DENALI SYSTEM STABILIZATION DISABLED WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON. THE DEALER CANNOT REPAIR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES IN THE CAR COMPUTER. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE WARNING LIGHT ON, BUT STILL NO ERROR CODES. ONSTAR RUNS DIAGNOSTICS AND REPORTS NO ERRORS AND TELLS ME TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. THIS FIRST OCCURRED IN DECEMBER WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, NOW SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE SERVICE SHOP AND IT STILL IS COMING ON. I AM WORKING WITH GMC CUSTOMER SUPPORT TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, BUT TO DATE THEY ARE SAYING THEY CAN'T FIX IT BECAUSE THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES. I HAVE ASKED THEM IF THE TRUCK IS SAFE TO DRIVE WITH WARNING LIGHT ON, BUT THEY CANNOT ASSURE ME THAT IT IS. THEY REFUSE TO DOCUMENT ANYTHING IN WRITING ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE TRUCK. TO DATE THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS NOR INJURIES, BUT I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE AS I WAS TOLD THE STABILIZATION SYSTEM WAS MANDATED BY THE GOVERNMENT AND IT MUST BE OPERATIONAL. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE TO INSURE THE TRUCK IS SAFE? WHY CAN'T THEY REPLACE COMPUTER MODULES UNTIL THERE IS A RESOLUTION? THE TRUCK DID NOT DO THIS FOR THE FIRST 35 MONTHS I OWNED IT, DRIVING THE SAME EXACT ROADS THAT THE WARNING FLASHES ON NOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO ROLL WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION WHAT REPAIRS WERE NEEDED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 87,000.
THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY YUKON HAS STOPPED WORKING AND HAS BEEN STUCK @ 125MPH SINCE 37,000 MILES. *TR
DRIVING HOME ON A THREE HOUR TRIP, I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING, ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER GETTING A TICKET FOR SPEEDING. I NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD EITHER STICK AT THE SPEED I WAS GOING AT ONE POINT IN TIME, THEN SOMETIMES IT WOULD JUST FALL TO 0. GM HAS A TSB OUT FOR THE ISSUE, BUT ONLY FOR 7 YEARS 70,000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM SINCE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE WITH 96,000 MILES ON IT, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL SERVICE CENTER AND WAS AMAZED AT THE 600$ FIXING PRICE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX WHAT I AND EVERYONE ELSE WOULD CONSIDER A RECALL THAT THEY DON'T. *TR

CURRENT MILEAGE IS 75,600 UPDATED 01/08/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE RIGHT AXLE WAS LEAKING. THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE ODOMETER WAS OFF. IT WAS READING 1 MILE FASTER THAN THE ACTUAL SPEED THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. UPDATED *JB
I WAS DRIVING TO DALLAS WITH MY FAMILY ON SAT. OCT 20, 2007 IN MY 2004 GMC YUKON (49600 MILES). WHILE MERGING ONTO INTO TRAFFIC, I NOTICED THAT MY SPEEDOMETER WAS SHOWING I WAS SPEEDING IN EXCESS OF 90 MPH, BUT IN FACT, I WAS BARELY KEEPING UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. I PULLED OFF THE FREE WAY AND CAME TO A DEAD STOP AT A GAS STATION, AND THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE REFLECTED AT 30 MPH AT A DEAD STOP. I TURNED THE KEY ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES, AND EACH TIME THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE DROPPED BY 5 TO 10 MPH, EVENTUALLY RESETTING TO 0. I CONTINUED ON TO MY DESTINATION, AGAIN, THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN ACTING THE SAME WAY INCREASING AND DECREASING IN JERKY MOVEMENT, BUT NEVER COMPLETELY GOING TO ZERO. I NEVER RESET THE SPEEDOMETER AGAIN TO ZERO, AND NOW THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 120 MPH AT A DEAD STOP. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL HOW FAST I AM ACTUALLY TRAVELING IN THE VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGES USED IN GM'S LATE MODEL TRUCKS. *JB

THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE FAILURE, WHICH HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DROPPED TO LOW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO DROP. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOT OF NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
NO INCIDENT RESULTING IN CRASHES OR INJURIES. HOWEVER, FAILURE TO INFORMATION CLUSTER INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE VITAL INFORMATION IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE, THE LATCH PULLED, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THE LATCH WOULD REMAIN STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION; THEREFORE, THE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AS WELL. THE CONTACT MUST ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND PUSH THE HANDLE BACK INTO PLACE IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITH THE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, ALL FOUR DOORS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. WHILE AN OCCUPANT WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, HE LEANED UP AGAINST THE DOOR AND IT OPENED. THE OCCUPANT FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR WAS COMPLETELY SHUT AT THE TIME. THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. THE VIN WAS UNABLE TO BE ENTERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

ON THE DATE LISTED BELOW, MY SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO REGISTER INCORRECT SPEEDS. IT THEN BECAME STUCK ON 70 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. IT HAS NOT STOPPED WORKING ALL THE WAY AND IS STUCK AT 140MPH. WHILE AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP GETTING MY OIL CHANGED, I ASKED AN ATTENDANT IF HE WAS GETTING MANY SPEEDOMETER REPAIRS FOR MY MAKE/MODEL. HE STATED THAT HE HAS REPLACED MANY AND THAT THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY "STEP MOTOR"?? I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS AND HE STATED "HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH ANY PROBLEMS." HE STATED HE WOULD FIX MY SPEEDOMETER FOR APPROXIMATELY $400. THE SERVICE TECH STATED THE MOTOR COSTS $10. I HAVE READ A FEW THREADS ON THE TOPIC AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM, AND NOT THE PROPER RESPONSE FROM THE MAKER. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEEDOMETER BECOMING ERRATIC ON MY 2004 GMC YUKON XL ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. NOTHING SEEMS TO FIX IT AND IT IS REALLY A SAFETY ISSUE. AS A MEMBER OF THE US MILITARY AND A FIREFIGHTER I FEEL I PUT MY LIFE ON THE LINE ENOUGH. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL WEB-SITES WITH LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS ON MANY DIFFERENT GM VEHICLES (MOSTLY TRUCKS AND SUV'S). THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT AND SUES GM OR IS THAT WHAT IT TAKES FOR A BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY TO GET THE POINT. THE ENTIRE AUDIO SYSTEM IN MY 2004 GMC YUKON HAS NO AUDIO. THE LIGHTS ARE ON SO IT APPEARS THAT IT SHOULD BE WORKING. YOU CAN TURN THE VOLUME COMPLETELY UP AND GET NO SOUND. WHILE DRIVING HOME THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED READING ANY SPEED. IT SLOWLY DRIFTED DOWN TO 0 MPH. WHILE DRIVING I ACCELERATED THINKING THAT I WAS LOOSING SPEED ONLY TO FINALLY REALIZE THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE CAR HAS 70,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHICH I AM ASSUMING IS ACCURATE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ITEM TO HAVE FAIL. THIS COULD EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN APPROACHING A CURVE THE DRIVER WOULD THINK THAT THE CAR IS TRAVELING SLOWER THAN IT ACTUAL. MAKES AN OMINOUS CLICKING NOISE. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 YUKON XL HAS FAILED. SOMETIMES THE DIAL STAYS AT 0MPH NO MATTER MY SPEED, SOMETIMES IT READS 120MPH NO MATTER THE SPEED, AND SOMETIMES IT READS 20MPH ABOVE AND BELOW THE ACTUAL SPEED LIMIT. AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR MORE THAN ONE-HALF OF AN HOUR, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTS TO READ SLOWER THAN I AM DRIVING AND SOMETIMES GOES TO ZERO, WHILE I AM OBVIOUSLY TRAVELING AT 60 TO 70 MPH. IF I GET OFF THE FREEWAY OR SLOW TO A STOP, IT USUALLY READS CORRECTLY FOR A WHILE, THEN GOES BACK TO READING SLOWLY AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AS WELL AS MY NOT KNOWING THE TRUE SPEED OF MY VEHICLE, I COULD GET A SPEEDING TICKET. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THIS YET AS IT IS A GM PROBLEM AND THEY SHOULD REPAIR IT. *JB

SINCE 40-45K MILES MY GMC YUKON 1500 XL HAS HAD A TERRIBLE SLACK IN THE STEERING. AS I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GUST OF WIND SHIFTS THE VEHICLE HALF A LANE TO THE OTHER SIDE.
