GM RECALL # 49152. NHTSA RECALL # 16V383 ISSUED IN MAY OF 2016. NHTSA GAVE GM UNTIL NOVEMBER 2017 TO REFUTE FOR INCONSEQUENTIALITY YET AS OF APRIL 21, 2020 THERE IS NO STATED RESOLUTION. WHY?
TAKATA RECALL MY WIFE FILED A COMPLAINT FOR THIS VEHICLE WHICH IS SHARED AND REGISTERED TO BOTH OF US BUT REALIZED AFTER FILING SHE TYPED 2017 INSTEAD OF 2007. RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. TAKATA WAS TO REPLACE. CALLED OUR DEALERSHIP, SILVEIRA IN HEALDSBURG, SEVERAL TIMES BUT PART WAS NEVER PROVIDED TO OUR DEALERSHIP BY TAKATA. STILL NO REPLACEMENT AND HAVE SAME DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS IN CAR!
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. CRYSTAL CHEVROLET DEALER LOCATED AT 1035 S SUNCOAST BLVD, HOMOSASSA, FL WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER JUST ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THIS EXACT SAME CRACK IN THE EXACT SAME LOCATION HAS ALSO OCCURRED ON MY 2007 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE WHICH I FILED SEPARATELY UNDER ISSUE 10863128.
"TAKATA RECALL' HAVE CALLED HENDRICKS GMC DEALERSHIP IN DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE RECALL IN MAY 2016. THEY ALWAYS SAY THEY HAVE NO AIRBAGS IN STOCK. WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS REPAIRED.
THE RECALL WAS ISSUES A YEAR AND A HALF AGO AND NO REMEDY IS AVAILABLE FROM GMC. HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS BEFORE THE RECALL IS TAKEN CARE OF BY GM?
TAKATA AIR BAG HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DEALER, NO ACTION TAKEN TO DATE. CRACKED DASH AT PASSENGER AIRBAG AND AT DRIVER DASH INSTRUMENTATION. DEALER MADE AWARE, NO REPAIR OFFERED.
TAKATA RECALL. I AM UNABLE TO SELL MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS RECALL, WHICH HAS NOW SURPASSED 2 YEARS OF INCOMPLETION. I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS AND IT HAS SEVERELY AFFECTED MY LIFE. PLEASE MAKE THEM ISSUE A REMEDY FOR THE COMMON FOLK THAT ARE BEING SO ADVERSELY AFFECTED.

BELL RD, PEORIA, AZ 85382, (602) 714-7579) WHO STATED THAT THE REMEDY PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS IS THE HANDLES THAT OPEN THE DOORS. THE COATING ON THE HANDLES IS PEELING. THEY HAVE SHARP EDGES THAT CAN AND HAVE CUT THE FINGERS. GM NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL OF THESE HANDLES
CRACKED DASH BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, I ALSO RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL FOR AIRBAGS AND A PROMISE TO NOTIFY WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, I COMPLAINED TO GM AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE CRACKED DASH , I AM A DEPLOYED MILITARY SERVICEMEMBER AND DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR CORPORATE GREED, LET GM KNOW I WILL NEVER BUY ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN UNLESS THEY CAN PROVE TO ME THAT THEIR CARS ARE SAFE!
I WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT WHEN MY REAR WINDOW EXPLODED. THERE WAS NOTHING AROUND TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. IT JUST EXPLODED INTO 1000'S OF PIECES.
MY 2007 GMC YUKON XL; SELF COMBUSTED WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE DROVE IT ON AN ERRAND, RETURNED TO OUR HOME, PARKED AND LOCKED THE VEHICLE. WITHIN 20 MINUTES OR SO, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE EVENTUALLY THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, OFF, KEY WAS OUT AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNATTENDED. LUCKILY, THE HORN BLEW WHICH ALERTED US TO THE FIRE. OTHERWISE, ADDITIONAL PROPERTY LOSS OR INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN SUSTAINED. WE HAVE A SECURITY CAMERA VIDEO EVIDENCE (FROM OUR NEIGHBORS SECURITY SYSTEM) OF THE ENTIRE INCIDENT. WHILE I AM UNCERTAIN AS TO THE EXACT CAUSE; STATE FARM INVESTIGATED THE VEHICLE AND IS GIVING A SETTLEMENT CHECK FOR THE ESTIMATED VALUE. THE TRUCK WAS EQUIPPED WITH A "WASHER FLUID HEATER" AND THERE WERE TWO RECALLS BY GM BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF FIRE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE STABILITRAK OFF LIGHT FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD, INCLUDING THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF. THIS HAS SHUT DOWN MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES SINCE 2016. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WOULD RESET ITSELF AND THE CODES WOULD GO AWAY TEMPORARILY. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND CABLES. I HAD TO GET TOWED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS THIS HAPPENS SO RANDOMLY. THE REPAIR SHOP SAYS THAT IT IS A MYSTERY TO THEM AS THEY HAVE CALLED THEIR GMC SPECIALTY TECHNICIANS FOR ADVICE. FINALLY, I WENT ONLINE AND STARTED A FORUM TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THESE ISSUES THAT NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIX. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE SEVERAL SIMILAR STORIES 'CAR FORUMS/ GMC/ GMC ENVOY XL". I AM SURPRISED THIS IS NOT A RECALL AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY. CHANGED SENSORS ON TIRES THAT WEREN'T THE ISSUE SINCE THE INDICATOR LIGHT STILL COMES ON. I HAVE PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS FLASHING AND THE CAR SHUTTING OFF. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY TRUCK AS SOON AS IT IS TURNED ON ALL OTHE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING STABILITY LINK/ ENGINE/ AIRBAG/ BRAKES. IT IS RIDICULOUS CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CONTACT ME. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY WITH ME BUT SEVERAL OTHER WHO HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE ENGINE LIGHT IN MY DENALI COMES ON AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED TO A SLOW SPEED WHERE I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER DOING SO FOR 5 MINUTES OR MORE, I CUT MY VEHICLE BACK ON AND IT WILL DRIVE NORMALLY WITH ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. IT HAS DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES, SOMETIMES 5+ TIMES IN ONE DAY. I HAVE TRIED TAKING IT AND GETTING IT FIXED BUT NO GM DEALER CAN FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. THIS IS UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM DRIVING MUCH LESS WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR WITH ME. PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS ISSUE FIXED GM DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO FIX THEIR ISSUE. *TR
74,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND LOUD TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE ON THE LEFT SIDE. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH AND TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP HAMBY IN PERRY, GA THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE BUT I GOT A SECOND OPITION IT IS THE AFM LIFTERS A CAMSHAFT THATS CAUSING THE NOISE GM NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ASAP
DASH BOARD CRACKS. WHILE DRIVING DASH IS SHAKING UP AND DOWN.
THE CHROME LININGS ON THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES OF THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE ARE PEELING. THE PEELED EDGE OF THE MATERIAL IS VERY SHARP, AND MY WIFE AND I BOTH HAVE SUSTAINED CUTS TO OUR LEFT HANDS DUE TO THIS.

THE BRAKES ON MY07 YUKON WORK INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AT SPEEDS OF 15MPH TO 20 MPH BRAKES FAIL TO ENGAGE AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS.
THE DASH BOARD HAS CRACKED IN 4 DIFFERENT PLACES, LEFT SIDE OF GAUGE CLUSTER, LEFT OF CENTER SPEAKER, IN FRONT OF CENTER SPEAKER AND TO THE LEFT OF PASSENGER AIR BAG. I AM NOT SURE WHEN IT HAPPENED.
MY DASH IS CRACKED RIGHT AT THE FRONT AIRBAG AND ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I AM AFRAID IF THE AIRBAG WAS TO DEPLOY, THE DASH WOULD BREAK INTO PIECES.
MY DASH IS CRACKED IN A COUPLE PLACES - BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL, AS WELL AS NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS IF THE AIRBAG GOES OFF THAT DASH WILL EXPLODE AND HURT SOMEONE WITH SHARP DASH PIECES. I NOTICED THIS A COUPLE YEARS AGO. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, BUT FOUND OUT THERE WAS NO COVERAGE AND IT WOULD BE AT LEAST $1000 REPAIR. I AM DISAPPOINTED TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, AND GMC ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL GMC'S AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A PROUD OWNER. I HOPE THEY INTEND TO DO RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THEIR VEHICLES.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WHICH IS NOT DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. I AM AMONG 6,172 MEMBERS OF A GROUP WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE EXACT SAME CRACK IN THE EXACT SAME LOCATIONS ON OUR DASHES. MANY PEOPLE HAVE ADDRESSED THIS WITH GMC ONLY TO BE TURNED AWAY. MY DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRBAG. MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED THERE WAS AN OPENING IN THE DASHBOARD.
THERE IS CRACKS APPEARING ON THE DASH ALL ALONG THE AIRBAGS HOUSING COMPARTMENT AND PART OF THE AIR BAG IS EXPOSED . I'M VERY AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAG WILL GO OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING BECAUSE THE DASH IS SO CRACKED IT'S BARELY HOLDING THE BAG IN . I'M ALSO WORRIED IT WILL AFFECT THE SAFETY COMPONENTS AND NOT WORK IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT BEING EXPOSED TO SOME ELEMENTS DUE TO THE CRACKS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGED KEPT AND ALWAYS PROFESSIONALLY MAINTAINED SO IT'S NOT SOMETHING WE DID OR DID NOT DO I BELIEVE IT'S CHEAP MATERIAL ON THE DASH CAUSING THIS TO OCCUR. ANOTHER BIG ISSUE IS THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDAL ARE ADJUSTABLE AND HAVE COMPLETELY COME UNDONE AND FALLEN OFF THE ADJUSTABLE MECHANISM WHILE I WAS DRIVING . I CALLED THE COMPANY AND SHE SAID SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME SOON AND IT'S BEEN A MONTH I'VE YET TO HEAR FROM THEM. IT WAS A TERRIFYING ORDEAL TO BE DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU CAN'T ACCELERATE OR BRAKE . I WAS SO SCARED FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY AS WE WERE ALL IN THE CAR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2007 GMC YUKON XL, THE STABILTRAK OFF LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL AS THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CAR LOSES POWER. ONCE THIS HAPPENS, THE STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT AND BRAKING IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW AND MOST RECENTLY GOING DOWN A STEEP HILL WITH MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING AND FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
MY DASHBOARD HAS TWO CRACK IN IT. ONE AT THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG AND THE OTHER ABOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT KEEPS GETTING LONGER AND LONGER. THIS IS NOW A FEARED SAFETY CONCERN OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. A SMALL CRACK FORMED LITERALLY OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE ON THE AIRBAG SIDE AND THEN ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER ON THE ODOMETER SIDE. NOW WHEN I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD THE DASH SECTION BETWEEN THE TWO CRACKS BOUNCES AROUND AND CLICKS AGAINST THE STATIONARY PIECE OF DASH.

"TAKATA RECALL" WHILE BRAKING THE SUV JERKS WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. NEW ROTORS AND BRAKES INSTALLED AND THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. DEALER FINDS R/F IMPACT SENSOR. CODE-B008439. CHEVY-GMC-STATES 3 YEAR 10,000 MILE WARRANTY WITH VEHICLE HAS EXPIRED .MILEAGE ON VEHICLE IS 43,592. COST WILL BE AROUND $400.00. I FIND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH A FACTORY PART. CHEVY-GMC SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. IT'S ALL ABOUT SAFETY! . THANK-YOU.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
STAB, ABS LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHTS EITHER GOING ON ONE AT A TIME OR SIMULTANEOUSLY. CAR WOULDN'T START & WHEN IT DID ALL OF THE DASHBOARD GAUGES WERE AT "ZERO" CAR SEEMED OFF BUT DRIVE-ABLE--GAS, MPH, RPM, GAS/OIL GAUGES REMAINED AT ZERO WHILE DRIVING. LATER THAT DAY WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED-THE GAUGES WERE AT NORMAL READINGS. STABILTRACK LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON & OFF. ELECTRICAL DOESN'T WORK WELL, ALMOST EVERY POWER DOOR HAS FAILED & ACTUATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED, REAR BACK HATCH DOOR WILL NOT OPEN & WE HAVE NO ACCESS TO OUR CARGO/TRUNK AREA. KEYLESS ENTRY WORKS OCCASIONALLY. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR CHROME HANDLES HAVE SHARP EDGES.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH & THEN A MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASH THAT STATES CHECK STABILITRAK/TRACTION CONTROL OFF. I THEN BRAKED TO PULL OVER & THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE AS IF THE SUSPENSION & BRAKES WERE BEING AFFECTED. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THIS ERROR MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR & THEN GO OFF & CONTINUED TO DO THIS FOR 3-4 HOURS WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
TAKATA RECALL AND DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD. 2007 GMC YUKON WAS PURCHASED USED WITH OVER 100K. SHORTLY AFTER MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 2015 THE DASHBOARD LITERALLY CAVED IN WHILE DRIVING ON A PAVED STREET. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH AND SPEAKING WITH FELLOW YUKON AND TAHOE OWNERS, I DETERMINED THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD AND CONSISTENT IN TERMS OF CRACKING AREAS AND MAGNITUDE. I CALLED GMC AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CONSIDER SUBSIDIZING A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COST BUT I HAD TO GET AN ESTIMATE FROM A LOCAL GMC SERVICE CENTER. AFTER CONTACTING THE GMC SERVICE CENTER I WAS TOLD A DIAGNOSTIC FEE WOULD APPLY FOR A REPAIR QUOTE, TO WHICH I DISAGREED GIVEN THE NEED FOR AN ESTIMATE ONLY. I SPOKE ONCE MORE WITH GMC STATING I WOULD NOT PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE REQUEST AND UNKNOWN REMEDY. AT THE PRESENT MOMENT THE AIR BAGS ARE ALSO UNDER RECALL BUT UNAVAILABLE. THE CRACKING DASHBOARD AND DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS CREATE A VOLATILE SAFETY SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY AND I. ALL THIS INFORMATION HAS BEEN SHARED WITH GMC VIA A CERTIFIED LETTER, TO WHICH THEY SENT A LETTER STATING I SHOULD CALL IF MY REQUEST HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE CALL RESULTED IN A NOTICE THAT I ALONE AM FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE AND HAZARDOUS DASHBOARD AND NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED. I COMPLETELY ACKNOWLEDGE THE STATE OF THE WARRANTY, HOWEVER, THE SHEER NUMBERS OF THIS OCCURRENCE CLEARLY INDICATE THE DASHBOARDS ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR
DASH IS CRACKED ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AS WELL AS DRIVER SIDE ABOVE DASH CLUSTER, POTENTIALLY CAUSING HIGH VELOCITY PROJECTILES IN THE EVENT OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN CRACKS OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES BECAME INOPERABLE AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS, THE YELLOW ABS WARNING CAME ON, "STABILITRACK" LIGHT CAME ON. THE WARNING LIGHTS STARTED DINGING, THE TRANSMISSION SLAMMED BETWEEN GEARS, THE LIGHTS CAME AND WENT AND THE DOOR LOCKS WERE GOING UP AND DOWN CONTINUOUSLY. LOST POWER ALSO, PULLED OFF AND SHOT OFF ENGINE. TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART AS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS DEAD. SAME THING HAPPENED 10K MILES EARLIER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2TIMES AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 53,000 MILES. REPAIRS TOOK OVER 10 DAYS AS THE ENGINE WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE CAR. REPLACED ENGINE CONTROL MODULE
MY WIFE AND I HAD JUST PURCHASED A USED 2007 GMC YUKON. LITTLE DID WE KNOW ABOUT THE MAJOR ISSUE THE TRUCK HAS WITH THE REDUCED POWER READING THAT COMES UP. I REALLY THINK THAT GMC NEEDS TO PUT OUT A RECALL FOR THESE ISSUES. MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM A WORK MEETING AND DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH HER SISTER AND MY WIFE'S AND MY DAUGHTER IN THE GMC YUKON AND SHE WAS DOING THE SPEED LIMIT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. SHE CALLED ME AND SHE WAS IN A PANIC. SHE HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WHEN SHE DID THE VEHICLE HAD DIED IT TURNED OFF AND SHE HAD OUR 2 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WITH OUT A/C AND IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER. THIS ISSUE PUTS THE PEOPLE'S FAMILIES AT RISK THAT OWN THESE VEHICLES AND ALSO OTHER DRIVERS FAMILIES AT RISK YOU CAN NOT REPLACE A PERSONS LIFE IF ITS TAKEN AWAY AND THE HARDSHIP IT CAUSES BUT YOU CAN REPLACE A VEHICLE SO WHY NOT COME UP WITH SOLUTION SO THE ROAD MAY BECOME A LITTLE BIT OF A SAFER PLACE. WHEN MY WIFE HAD THIS HAPPEN OTHER DRIVERS WERE NOT COURTEOUS OR UNDERSTANDING WHEN SOMEONE PUTS THEIR HAZARD LIGHTS ON THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG, THEY JUST KEPT FLYING PAST HER. NOW WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME GM MAKE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RESOLVED. I HAVE LOOKED UP AND SAW CHEVY DOESN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE AND CHEVY IS THE SAME COMPANY. IF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ASSOCIATION COULD CREATE THIS RECALL AND THEY COULD USE THE SAME PART FROM CHEVY THEN SURELY THIS ISSUE WOULD BE FIXED AND IT WOULD BE A SAFER VEHICLE. IF YOU WERE A COMPANY OWNER WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO STAND BY YOUR COMPANIES PRODUCTION AND CREATE SOLUTIONS IF THERE WERE THESE COMMON ISSUES? WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO HELP MAKE THE ROAD A SAFER PLACE BY ONE LITTLE FIX? IT WOULDN'T
DRIVER SIDE FRONT ROTOR OUTER SURFACE HAS FULL METAL TO METAL CONTACT WITH ZERO BRAKE PAD MATERIAL AND HAD TO BE PRIED OUT. DRIVER SIDE FRONT ROTOR INNER HAS UNEVEN PARTIAL SURFACE CONTACT WITH ROTOR AND IS JAMMED IN THE CARRIER (UNABLE TO REMOVE BY HAND, HAD TO BE HAMMERED OUT OF THE CARRIER). PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE ROTOR OUTER HAS PERFECT SURFACE BUT BRAKE PAD LOOKED BRAND NEW... NO WEAR ON IT AND IS JAMMED IN THE CARRIER. PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE ROTOR INNER SURFACE HAS PARTIAL CONTACT WITH BRAKE PAD... HEAVY THICK RUSTY RIDGE FORMED AND BRAKE PAD SHOWED RIDGE IMPRESSION ON IT. CUSTOMER SAID THE BRAKE WAS DONE BY DEALER TWO YEARS AGO. THE MAIN CULPRIT IS THE BRAKE PADS ARE JAMMED IN THE CARRIER BECAUSE THE BRAKE PAD BACKING PLATE IS TOO LONG TO INSERT OR TO MOVE FREELY. THERE IS SOME KIND OF DESIGN FLAW/SPECIFICATION PROBLEM. THE DRIVER SIDE REQUIRED MUCH MORE SHORTENING OF THE NEW BRAKE PAD BACKING PLATE THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE. BRAKE PAD TAB WIDTH WAS PERFECT AND MOVES EASILY WITH NO PLAY. IT IS ONLY THE LENGTH OF THE BRAKE PAD TABS ARE THE ISSUES. I AM NOT SURE IF THE BRAKE PAD/CALIPER CARRIER IS AT FAULT... POSSIBILITY OF BENDING OR TWISTING THAT MAY CAUSE THE ISSUE OF BRAKE PAD BEING JAMMED, OR TOO LONG TO INSERT. IT IS SUCH A STRONG METAL THAT THERE IS NO WAY ANY HUMAN CAN PHYSICALLY BEND IT NOR SIMPLY DROPPING IT. IT WOULD TAKE A SEVERE FORCE TO ACTUALLY BEND THE CARRIER SUCH AS THE VEHICLE ITSELF UNDER REPEATED BRAKING. I THINK THIS IS THE MOST PLAUSIBLE REASON FOR THIS SITUATION. NEW BRAKE PADS HAS SAME PROBLEM... THE LENGTH OF THE BACKING PLATE TABS ARE TOO LONG TO INSERT INTO CARRIER ON DRIVER SIDE AND THEY DO FIT TOO TIGHT IN PASSENGER SIDE CARRIER. WE HAD TO SHORTEN THE BRAKE PAD TABS TO ALLOW THE PADS TO MOVE SMOOTHLY IN THE CARRIER.
WHILE DRIVING HEARD A SNAPPING SOUND THAT CAME FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA, AT FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS ROAD DEBRIS THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD BUT THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE. UPON RETURNING HOME I DID A MORE THROUGH INSPECTION TO FIND A DASH BOARD CRACK OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG.
THE DASH IS CRACKED NEAR THE AIRBAG AND I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR.
STABILITRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE IS ON SCREEN. CAR MAKES LOUD NOISE WHEN STARTING. NOT ALL THE TIME. TURNING OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTING FIXES PROBLEM BUT SERVICE LIGHTS STAY ON.. I'VE HEARD MANY REPORTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL. ARE WE WAITING FOR AN ACCIDENT?
