UPON BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT AT A MAIN INTERSECTION AND THEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE PANEL. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE STARTED UP FOR ABOUT 2MILES THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND SAID NO ISSUES FOUND. THEY GAVE US THE VEHICLE BACK ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE 5 DAYS LATER IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. DIAGNOSTICS THEN SHOWED A NEW BATTERY WAS NEEDED (?) AND A SEALANT RESEALED. WELL, A FEW DAYS LATER (LESS THAN A WEEK) IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE DEALER HAS SINCE HAD THE VEHICLE, CLAIMING NOTHING IS WRONG AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE. (ALL INSTANCES WERE DURING CONSTANT RAINFALL AND THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN AT LEAST 15-20MINUTES IN THE RAIN. ) WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED, BOUGHT A WARRANTY AND ARE NOW STUCK WITH TRADING IN THE VEHICLE!! *TR
NOTICED HUGE CRACK IN DASH FOR NO APPARENT REASON. COMMON ISSUE ON 2007-2013 VEHICLES I'M FINDING OUT. CONCERNED WITH DANGER OF PLASTIC SHARDS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY IF AIRBAGS ARE DEPLOYED. VEHICLE HAD NEVER BEEN IN ACCIDENT AND HAS LOW MILAGE AND KEPT UP WELL. GM HAS OFFERED LITTLE HELP. *JS
MULTIPLE CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED SEVERAL YEARS AGO.
2009 GMC YUKON EXPERIENCED COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. EVERYDAY FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS MY YUKON EXPERIENCES INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL FAILURE AS IF YOU TURNED THE CAR OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY, THEN IT THE POWER COMES RIGHT BACK WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THIS POSSES A SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO ME AND MY FAMILY DUE TO, HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, BRAKING LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS ARE ALL OFF. WHEN I TURN THE YUKON OFF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILS ONCE I TURN THE KEY TO OFF AND REMOVE KEY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO WATER BEING PRESENT INSIDE THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V154000( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,999.
3 OF THE 4 DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO WORK AS INTENDED, I.E., WITH FOB AND HAD TO BE MANUALLY MANIPULATED TO OPEN DOORS. ONE DOOR COULD BE OPENED WITH KEY. ONE DOOR COULD ONLY BE OPENED IF LOCK WAS PULLED UP MANUALLY - IT WOULD LOCK AUTOMATICALLY, BUT TOOK MANUAL INTERVENTION TO GET THE LOCK IN THE UN-LOCK POSITION. UNLESS THERE WAS AN ADULT IN THIS POSITION TO OPEN THE LOCK, THE DOOR COULD NOT BE ACCESSED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS WAS A REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND CAUSED GREAT CONCERN WHEN CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THE 3 LOCKS REPLACED AT A GREAT DOLLAR COST, BUT COULD NOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE HAVE CHILDREN IN THE REAR SEAT WITHOUT HAVING IT DONE. I HAVE REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT FROM GMC AS I DO NOT BELIEVE A 75% FAILURE RATE ON DOOR LOCKS IS ACCEPTABLE SAFE PERFORMANCE OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKING, CANNOT BE FIX AND ISN'T MY FAULT.
IN LATE MAY 2014 I STARTED GETTING A BRAKE ERROR MESSAGE & MY BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. I WOULD PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKES & IT WOULD BE HARD TO BRAKE. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OVER, HOWEVER I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY & TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE, WHEN I TURNED IT ON THE BRAKE ERROR WAS GONE & MY BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER ON MAY 29, 2014 THEY SAID IT WAS THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER SENSOR, BUT I HAD TO WAIT BECAUSE GM HAD THE ITEM ON BACK ORDER. I GOT THE CAR REPAIRED BUT THE DAY AFTER I PICKED IT UP THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME MY BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY & WE HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE. I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN & THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO REPAIR THE ABS BRAKE ASSEMBLY, SO WE PROCEEDED TO APPROVE THE REPAIR & GET THAT FIXED. I PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER THIS 2ND REPAIR FOR THE SAME ISSUE,BUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING OFF THE LOT I AGAIN GOT THE SAME BRAKE ERROR MESSAGE & MY BRAKES AGAIN WERE FAILING. I DID A U TURN BACK INTO THE DEALER. MY CAR HAS BEEN THEE EVER SINCE. THIS TIME AROUND THEY SAID I NEEDED A COUPLE MORE PARTS ONE BEING AN ADAPTER GM # 25862232. HOWEVER, THIS ADAPTER IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE IN THE USA OR ABROAD. I CONTACTED GM & THEY SAID THEY KNOW MY CARS REPAIR ISSUES BUT DO NOT HAVE THE PART AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE IT. *TR
THE TOP COVER OF THE DASHBOARD HAS A CRACK ON THE HUMP ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE AIR BAG...GOD FORBID THAT THE VEHICLE MAY BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAG DOES NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY. THAT COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. THE VEHICLE IS A 2009 GMC YUKON, WITH ALL THE TECHNOLOGY AND ADVANCES GM HAS MADE, I WOULD ASSUME THAT A SAFETY ISSUE OF THIS DEGREE WOULD WARRANT A RECALL OR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND RESPONSIBILITY FROM GM. *TR
WHEN NOT IN USE MY AUTO IS STORED INSIDE AN ATTACHED GARAGE. ONE MORNING WHEN I ENTER THE VEHICLE TO GO TO WORK I NOTICE A CRACK ON THE DASH ABOVE THE GLOVE BOX. IT WAS NOT THERE THE DAY BEFORE. NO ONE HAD BEEN IN THE VEHICLE EXCEPT ME AND THAT WAS THE DAY BEFORE TO DRIVE TO WORK AND TO DRIVE HOME. IT SAT IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT AND THE CRACK WAS NOTICED THE NEXT MORNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD CRACKED ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, AND STEERING SOUND. *JS
DASH BOARD CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TOP LEFT OF THE AIR BAG...AIR BAG IS NOW 1/2 HIGHER THAN THE SAGGING DASH. THIS IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE AIR BAG IS NO LONGER PROPERLY SUPPORTED. *TR
ELECTRICAL ISSUES.. LIGHTS DIMMING, THEN ENGINE STARTED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND ENGINE LIFTERS STARTED TICKING AND IS GETTING LOUDER... NO FAULT CODES WERE FOUND BY DEALER WHEN CHECKED... AND CANNOT REDUPLICATE ELEC. ISSUE AND STALL .. BUT HAS HAPPENED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES OVER A 2 YR PERIOD AND NOW THE LIFTERS ARE CLACKING VERY BADLY...MY VEHICLE GETS REG. OIL CHANGES ETC. AND ACCORDING TO ALL THE FORUMS THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE... A TSB BULLETIN HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED BY GMC BUT NO RECALL.. ARE THEY WAITING TIL SOMEONE DIES FOR A LAWSUIT. *TR
FEBRUARY 2014 I HAD NOTICED 3 CRACKS ON MY DASH BOARD, 2 OF THEM BEING RIGHT BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I HAVE CONTACTED GM TO FIX THE ISSUE BEFORE ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS WITH THE AIR BAGS. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $900 TO HAVE THIS FIXED BUT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM IN CONSTANT WORRY IF MY AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY AT ANY POINT IN TIME DUE TO THE CRACKS. OR IF I HAPPEN TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WILL MY AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOY OR WILL THERE BE A DEFECT IN THE AIR BAGS DUE TO PLASTIC CUTTING THE AIR BAG OPEN ON DEPLOY. GM IS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS I KNOW 500 CASES ALREADY WITH THIS SAME ISSUE AS THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME CONCERN. *TR
THE DASH WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CRACKED. WHEN I WAS SEARCHING TO FIND A REPAIR SHOP NEAR ME, I CAME ACROSS SEVERAL BLOGS (HTTP://REPAIRPAL.COM/THE-UPPER-DASH-MAY-CRACK-554 AND HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/GMC/YUKON/2009/ACCESSORIES-INTERIOR/CRACKED_DASHBOARD.SHTML) MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE EXACT CRACKS. WHEN I CALLED GMC THEY EXPLAINED ANY RECALL HAS TO BE PROCESSED THROUGH THIS ASSOCIATION, WHICH I CERTAINLY WASN'T AWARE OF, AND I DO NOT THINK THE OTHER PEOPLE WERE EITHER BECAUSE IT'S AN APPROXIMATELY $1,600 REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND PEOPLE HAVE PAID IT. I REALLY THINK THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECTIFIED THROUGH GMC, SO IF THIS ONE COMPLAINT IS NOT ENOUGH, PLEASE GIVE ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO FIND OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AS WELL. DASH CRACKED ON THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE OF AIRBAG NOT BEING HELD IN PROPERLY NOW, OR SHARP CORNER OF CRACKED DASH CUTTING PASSENGER IN THE EVENT OF A POSSIBLE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. *TR
DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED ON 2 OF OUR 4 DOORS. GM REFUSES TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. I'M WAITING FOR OTHERS TO FAIL NOW AS THIS IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH SIMILAR FAILURES FOR THE 2009 MODEL YEAR. DEALER WANTS OVER $350 PER DOOR TO FIX. IT'S SO BAD THERE'S A YOU TUBE VIDEO ON HOW TO FIX IT YOURSELF. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
DASH CRACKED ON CORNER OF WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LOCATED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I'M AFRAID THAT IT WILL EITHER PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN A CRASH, OR TEAR THE AIRBAG UPON DEPLOYMENT, OR WORSE, SHOOT PROJECTILES OF DASH TOWARD MY CHILDREN WHO ARE PASSENGERS. *TR
CRACK IN DASH BESIDE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. CRACK SEEMED TO APPEAR OVERNIGHT WITH NO TRAUMA TO THE DASH AT ALL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IN THE EVENT THAT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS, SHRAPNEL FROM THE CRACKED DASH WILL BE THROWN INTO MY PASSENGERS' FACES CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY.
DASH IS CRACKED BESIDE PASSENGER AIRBAG. GM STATED THAT NOBODY HAS DIED YET, SO THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. THE DASH IS BRITTLE AND CRACKING MORE EVERY DAY. WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS, I AM TERRIFIED THAT DASH SHRAPNEL WILL BE THROWN INTO MY CHILDREN'S FACES. THE CRACK OCCURRED OVERNIGHT, WHEN THE CAR WAS GARAGE KEPT.
LOCKS JUST STOPPED WORKING. *TR
2009 YUKON DENALI... ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN VEHICLE USING EXTERNAL DOOR HANDLES, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE & REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE CAME OFF. THESE ARE THE CHROME PLATED MODELS. I WAS TOLD BY MULTIPLE SALES PERSONNEL, SERVICE TECHS, & SERVICE MANAGERS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM (APPARENTLY THERE IS SOME SORT OF ISSUE WITH THE CHROME PLATED MODELS). I ALSO HAVE FRIENDS WITH SIMILAR MODELS- YUKON & TAHOE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. SOME HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 DOOR HANDLES. I FEAR THAT I WILL BE REPLACING THE REMAINING DOOR HANDLES IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT COVERED. OF COURSE THEY CONSIDER THIS A COSMETIC ISSUE & NOT A SAFETY ISSUE SO I TRULY DOUBT THAT THERE WILL BE A RECALL. I HAVE ALSO SEEN ON FORUMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG GMC YUKON & CHEVY TAHOE OWNERS STARTING AROUND THE 2007 MODEL YEAR. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. THE WORST CRACKS ARE OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BUT THERE ARE CRACKS TOUCHING THE AIR BAG COVER. IT SEEMS I FIND A NEW CRACK ABOUT EVERY FEW MONTHS. BESIDES BEING A FAULTY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT I FEEL THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF PIECES OF THE PLASTIC DASH SHOULD START FALLING INTO THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS UNDER THE DASH.
A CRACK HAD APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD GOING TO THE DIRECTION OF THE AIRBAG. I HAD ATTEMPTED TO CONSULT WITH THE LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP THAT STATED IT'S NO THREAT AND BASICALLY SENT ME ON MY WAY. IT'S BEEN A YEAR LATER AND NOW NOT ONLY HAS IT CRACKED IN THAT ONE AREA BUT I HAVE 2 ADDITIONAL CRACKS AND THE DASH HAS SEPARATED APPROX. 1/2" AT THE AIRBAG. IT SERIOUSLY CONCERNS ME CONSIDERING I HAVE CUSTODY OF MY GRANDCHILDREN (11 & 9) WHO ARE RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE 99.5% OF THE TIME. I'M DEATHLY AFRAID THE AIRBAG IS EITHER GOING TO DEPLOY ON ITS OWN OR WORSE NOT DEPLOY IF/WHEN IT'S NEEDED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN 65-70 MILES AN HOUR MY VEHICLES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND LA MESSAGE OF ENGINE POWER REDUCED APPEARED. THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER BUT I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON AND I HAD TO CAL AAA TO TAKE MY CARE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE VALVE BODY INTERNALLY SHORTED THE MEMORY CIRCUIT AND THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR SHORTED. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY FOUND THE HARNESS FOR THE CRANKSHAFT HAD MELTED AND SHORTED OUT THE SENSORS. THEY REPAIRED THE HARNESS, REPLACED THE SHORTED OUT SENSOR AND REPLACED THE VALVEBODY/TCM. DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE VALVE BODY TO SHORT AND CAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR TO MELT. *TR
I'M WRITING TO REPORT A SAFETY ISSUE WITH 2007 TO 2012 GMC YUKON DOOR LOCKS. I OWN A 2009 GMC YUKON (44,XXX MILES), AND RECENTLY THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR STOPPED LOCKING ELECTRONICALLY WHICH PROHIBITS THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING FEATURE FROM WORKING AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR. THIS BYPASSES AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE WHEN SMALL CHILDREN ARE RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT AND THERE IS NO WARNING SIGNAL TO THE DRIVER OF SUCH FAILURE. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED (THROUGH NUMEROUS ON-LINE OWNER FORUMS) ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL IN THIS YEAR RANGE AND IT APPEARS THAT GM HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR RECALLING THESE VEHICLES TO ADDRESS THIS CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE FAILURE. I BELIEVE THE ROOT CAUSE IS EITHER POOR DESIGN, OR SUB-PAR QUALITY ON THE LOCK ACTUATING DEVICE, AS IT SEEMS MOST REPORTED INCIDENTS LEAD TO REPLACEMENT OF THE LOCK ACTUATOR (SOMETIMES REPLACING THE SAME ACTUATOR MULTIPLE TIMES). AS A CONSUMER AND PARENT, I'M REQUESTING THAT YOU INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND HOLD GM ACCOUNTABLE FOR DELIVERING AN INFERIOR QUALITY PRODUCT FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT CONSUMER SAFETY FEATURE. *TR
CRACK NEAR PASSENGER AIRBAG, ABOVE STEERING WHEEL AND ANOTHER STARTING TO FORM NEAR THE INITIAL CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY PRETEND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, THOUGH THERE ARE HUNDREDS COMMENTS ON FORUMS/GROUPS ONLINE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MINE AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION WHERE THE AIRBAGS MAY DEPLOY. WILL THEY DEPLOY PROPERLY? WILL THE SHARDS OF PLASTIC FROM THE FAULTY DASH CAUSE FURTHER INJURY? GM NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE VEHICLES AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THEIR CONSUMERS BY REPAIRING THE DASHES. *TR
THE CHROME DOOR HANDLES IN THE SUV ARE PEALING AND THE MATERIAL WILL CUT YOUR HAND. BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE RECEIVED CUTS FROM THESE HANDLES. FROM READING ON LINE IT APPEARS THAT THIS A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF THE GM SUVS'. I READ THAT YOU STARTED LOOKING INTO THIS BUT I CAN'T FIND WHERE THERE WAS ANY CONCLUSION. THE DEALER IS HAPPY TO REPLACE THESE IF I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR IT, BUT WILL NO GUARANTEE THAT THE NEW ONES WON'T HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I STARTED NOTICING A RATTLE WHEN DRIVING MY 2009 GMC YUKON DENALI, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. FINALLY DISCOVERED THAT A CRACK HAD OCCURRED IN MY PASSENGER SIDE DASH ABOVE THE AIR BAG IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER, AND THE RATTLE I WAS HEARING WAS FROM THE BROKEN PLASTIC. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, SO I KNOW THIS IS NOT UNIQUE TO MY VEHICLE AND THAT GMC IS AWARE OF IT BUT HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE IT. THIS MANUFACTURING FLAW LEAVES ONE TO QUESTION HOW SAFE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS AND WHETHER OR NOT IT WILL WORK PROPERLY. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN 2005 WHERE MY DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE (NOT A GM VEHICLE) WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL BY A PIECE OF IRON COMING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, AND IT NEVER DEPLOYED. IT WOULD STAND TO REASON THAT IF THE SUPPORT AREA AROUND THE MODULE IS WEAKENED BY SOMETHING LIKE A CRACK, THAT THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY AS DESIGNED, POSSIBLY SENDING THE MODULE OR FRAGMENTS OF THE MODULE INTO THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AIR BAGS ARE DESIGNED TO PROTECT US IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT THEY CAN'T PROTECT US IF THEY NEVER DEPLOY OR IF WE ARE HIT BY FLYING MODULE METAL BECAUSE OF GENERAL MOTORS DESIGN FLAW THAT THEY HAVE REFUSED TO TAKE ACTION ON. MY FAMILY HAS OWNED 6 DIFFERENT GM VEHICLES OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS, BUT THEIR CHOICE TO IGNORE THIS POTENTIAL FATAL FLAW HAS ME LOOKING ELSEWHERE. CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY DURING A COLLISION OR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT FROM SHARP PLASTIC EXPOSED DUE TO THE CRACKS IN THE DASH CUTTING THE AIRBAG OR SHARDS OF PLASTIC BECOMING PROJECTILES POTENTIALLY CAUSING INJURY TO OCCUPANTS. *TR
DRIVING AT ROUGHLY 50 MPH. WENT TO PASS CAR ON TWO LANE HIGHWAY. ACCELERATOR STUCK TO FLOOR (NOT STUCK ON FLOOR MAT OR OTHER OBJECT). VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 95 MPH, SLOWED TO 70 WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED FULLY. SLOWED TO 50 WITH BRAKE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE DEPRESSED. ACCELERATED WHEN DOWNSHIFTED INTO MANUAL. FINALLY PUT IN NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. HAD COMPLAINED OF ROUGH IDLE, STALLING AND REDUCED POWER FOR 3 YEARS (SINCE WE HAD CAR FOR ONLY A FEW MONTHS). SEE SOME DISCUSSION THAT A DIRTY THROTTLE BODY COULD LEAD TO ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. 3 YEARS WITH 3 DIFFERENT GM SERVICE SHOPS AND NO SOLUTION. FORTUNATELY THE ROAD WAS NOT CROWDED AND WAS STRAIGHT. OBVIOUSLY, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL PROBLEM FOR US. IT WAS MY WIFE, MYSELF, AND OUR THREE CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OF AGE IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC YUKON. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE BATTERY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CHASSIS ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V614000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

ABOUT 38 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2009 YUKON MY DASH CRACKER FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE DRIVER SIDE. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE ISSUES AND GMC TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A COST THAT I HAD TO ABSORB. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 60 MINUTES.
WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS. ROUGHLY EVERY 3 MONTHS IT WILL HAVE ERRATIC ELECTRICAL SHORTS AND MOST COMMONLY THE CAR WILL NOT START BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. SOMETIME THE SHORTS HAPPEN WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM TURNS OFF AND ON, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY FLASHES OFF AND ON, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS GO UP AND DOWN. ON A FEW OCCASIONS THE AIR CONDITIONING HAS SWITCHED OVER TO HEAT ONLY WHILE THE BLOWER CONTINUED AS BEFORE. ON A FEW OCCASIONS THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TURNED OFF AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF,ONLY TO THEN TURN BACK ON. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND THEN TURNED BACK ON. THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY DECELERATED AND THEN TURNED BACK ON AND LUNGED FORWARD. WE CONSIDER THE VEHICLE UNSAFE AT THIS POINT. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT ANY MORE, OTHER THAN TO GET IT TO ANOTHER REPAIR PERSON WHERE IT HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY THREE TIMES AND THE BATTERY TERMINAL CABLES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED THREE TIMES AT TWO SEPERATE GM DEALERS. WE HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THEIR PHONE SUPPORT. THEIR ONLY SUGGESTION IS TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALER EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS. THIS HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND I HAVE INFORMED GM OF THIS.
11/25/2012 - HYBRID SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING AT 65MPH ON I-80 GOING WEST NEAR OHIO BORDER - THUS LOST POWER STEERING AND PROPULSION. THE CHROME PLATING ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE IS SEPARATING FROM THE DOOR HANDLE AT THE TOP OF THE HANDLE, AND IS EXTREMELY SHARP (CAUSED CUT TO FINGERS ON RIGHT HAND); AFTER THIS HAS HAPPENED I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE GM ACTION TO RESOLVE AND FOUNDS REPORTS ONLINE OF THIS BEING REPORTED FOR 2007 AND 2008 GM VEHICLES (ALTHOUGH MINE IS A 2009). SINCE MARCH OF THIS YEAR WE HAVE 3 OF THE 4 DOOR LOCKING ACTUATORS FAIL AND REPLACED ON OUR 2009 GMC YUKON DENALI WITH ONLY 39000 MILES ON IT. WE CONTACTED GM VIA E-MAIL WITH OUR CONCERNS. GM ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ONLY THING THEY WERE CONCERNED WITH WAS IF IT WAS REPORTED TO A GM DEALER, IF NOT IT WAS NOT A CONCERN OF THEIRS. WE HAD OUR LOCAL MECHANIC FIX THE ISSUE DUE TO THE DISTANCE TO OUR DEALERSHIP AND OUR VEHICLE BEING JUST OUT OF WARRANTY . MY WIFE AND CHILDREN HAVE HAD CRAWL ACROSS THE VEHICLE TO EXIT. MY CONCERNS AFTER LOOKING UP THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, ON THE INTERNET, IS THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAFETY ISSUE, BUT GM HAS CLASSIFIED THIS A PROBLEM AS A "NON-SAFETY ISSUE". I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK ON A LEVEL SURFACE, I LEFT THE YUKON RUNNING AND I GOT OUT AND WALKED MY GREAT NIECE TO A BUILDING ABOUT 30 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE.. MY 2009 GMC YUKON XL HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE "REDUCED POWER" MESSAGE. NOT ONLY IS THIS AFFECTING THE DRIVEABILITY OF OUR VEHICLE BUT ALSO THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY SINCE THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR AND MY WIFE USUALLY IS DRIVING IT WITH OUT FOUR CHILDREN IN IT. IT ALL STARTED IN AUGUST WHEN THE REDUCED POWER MESSAGE CAME ON FOR MY WIFE WITH SERVICE STABILITRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL, WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS "RODENT DAMAGE" TO THE THROTTLE BODY WIRING AND REPLACED THE CONNECTOR. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED WHEN SHE WAS GOING HOME FROM THE KIDS SCHOOL. THE CODE THAT WAS SCANNED WAS P0335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILURE. THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS UNPLUGGED AND RESEATED AND THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY. ON 10/6 THE LIGHTS AND REDUCED POWER MESSAGE CAME BACK ON, TOO THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES "NO DEFECT FOUND" TAC CASE # [XXX]. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND WITH THE CHANCE OF MY WIFE AND KIDS BEING STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE OR BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I WANT FROM A CAR THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! NOT ONLY IS THIS CAR DANGEROUS BUT ALSO A HEADACHE! I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT IF THE CAR IS NOT DOING ANYTHING RIGHT NOW THEN THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. DEALER CONTINUES TO STATE OF NOT SEEING AN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STARTED ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS. FIVE TIMES TOTAL IN A TWO YEAR PERIOD. THE DEALER DOES NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG. TO COPE WITH THE ISSUE WE HAVE BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND A BATTERY JUMP STARTER. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS FOR A VEHICLE. OUR VEHICLE IS A NORMAL GMC YUKON DENALI. 2009 YUKON XL HAS DIED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. ONCE WAS IN REVERSE. THERE IS NO WARNING. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COULDN'T "REPRODUCE" THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING WRONG WAS DETERMINED. THE ONLY THING THAT QUITS IS THE ENGINE (WHICH TAKES OUT THE POWER STEERING SO I CANNOT CONTROL THE TRUCK FOR LONG AND NOT AT ALL IN A TURN); THE AIR AND RADIO/DVD PLAYER STAY ON, THE LIGHTS (IN - ON DASHBOARD AND OUTSIDE) STAY ON AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY LIGHT THAT SHOWS A PROBLEM COMES ON. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN AUGUST OF 2010, I WAS IN MID TURN, WITH MY 4 CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK WHEN I SUDDENLY COULDN'T COMPLETE THE TURN. IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL OR APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE. I PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY TO OFF, REMOVED THE KEY, REPLACED IT AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE (WHICH STARTED IMMEDIATELY). ONSTAR COULDN'T DETECT ANYTHING AND THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GET IT TO "REPRODUCE" SO NOTHING WAS FIXED. IN THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS (JULY/AUGUST 2011) IT HAS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES, ONCE WHILE REVERSING (STRAIGHT) AND THE OTHER WHILE AGAIN TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT - THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. BOTH TURNS WERE RIGHT TURNS. THE VEHICLE IS BEING INSPECTED, AGAIN, BY THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME OUTLOOK; IF IT CANNOT BE REPRODUCED, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS ALSO BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY'RE NOT RELATED. THERE ARE SEVERAL INCIDENTS SIMILAR TO THIS ONLINE, AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, NONE HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT WILL SURELY END UP IN AN ACCIDENT EVENTUALLY. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS AT (ABOUT) 14,500 MILES AND LAST 2 WERE BETWEEN 35,000 AND 38,000 MILES. *TR
THE DASH IS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES, INCLUDING A CRACK AT THE EDGE OF THE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THEY QUOTED A REPAIR PRICE OF 1800. THEY ADMITTED THAT A CRACKED DASH HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN GMC YUKONS. THE CRACKS BEGAN IN 2013 AND I HAD JUST OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS. I TAKE EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD CARE OF IT AND THE REST OF THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE CRACK IS CONCERNING AROUND THE AIR BAG BECAUSE IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED DURING AN ACCIDENT, THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY OF SHARP DEBRIS CAUSING INJURY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALE WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC BUT DUE TO THE DELAY OF A PART FROM THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE REPAIR WOULD BE DELAYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO ONE COULD ANSWER HER QUESTIONS TRANSFERRING HER FROM ONE DEPARTMENT TO ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COMPLETELY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
