DASHBOARD CRACKED ABOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
TAMARA RECALL: WAS INFORMED BY BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY AT THIS TIME AND NO TIME FRAME A REPAIR WILL BE AVAILABLE. I WAS INFORMED NOT TO HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE IN CASE OF A FRONTTILL IMPACT THE AIRBAG COULD CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY. SO IN SUMMING IT UP. I CAN'T HAVE ANYONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. REALLY THAT'S THE BEST ANSWER FROM TAKATA,GMC, AND THE HIGHWAY ADMIN.
MY GMC DENALI 2011 DASHBOARD SUDDENLY CRACKED IN TWO PLACES -THEY ARE CLEARLY STRESS CRACKS WITH NO SUPPORT UNDERNEATH. ONE CRACK IS ON THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG, OTHER ABOVE STEERING WHEEL. SHOULD THE PASS AIRBAG DEPLOY, I'M NOT SURE IF IT WOULD WORK PROPERLY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF IDENTICAL SITUATIONS WITH THESE MODELS IN PARTICULAR. GMC OFFERS NO COMPENSATION BECAUSE THERE ARE 100S OF COMPLAINTS OUT THERE REGARDING THIS ISSUE, MAYBE MORE. WEBSITES ARE ORGANIZED FOR GMC CRACKED DASHBOARDS! THIS VEHICLE HAS NO ACCIDENT HISTORY. IT CRACKED RANDOMLY. THE DASH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE CRACKS ARE GROWING WITH THE VIBRATION OF THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION. THANK YOU
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. MAINLY AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
DASH HAS CRACKED ALMOST IN HALF ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. AM CONCERNED ABOUT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT BEING COMPROMISED OR SENDING SHARDS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
DASH CRACK NEAR AIRBAG IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT (SHRAPNEL OR POPPED BAG).

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GMC FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. I PHONED CONLEY CHEVROLET IN BRADENTON, FL TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AND WAS INFORMED THAT GENERAL MOTORS DOES NOT HAVE A REMEDY FOR THE RECALL. I ASKED FRO A TIMELINE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME GENERAL MOTORS DOES NOT HAVE A TIMELINE.
MY DASHBOARD HAS 2 CRACKS IN IT. THIS BEGAN AROUND 55,000 MILES. ONE IS ABOVE THE AIRBAG AND THE OTHER IS IN THE MIDDLE ON TOP OF THE MIDDLE SPEAKER. I PURCHASED A $1500 EASY CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TO HOPEFULLY TAKE CARE OF ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HAVE COME UP WHILE PAYING ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE DASHBOARD. OF COURSE! I SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THE DEALERSHIP, GMC SENIOR ADVISORS, AND THEN THE NEXT IN LINE TO FINALLY BE TOLD I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR $300 PLUS TAX FOR THE REPAIR. WHAT UPSET ME THE MOST IS THE FACT THAT GMC TRIED TO BLAME WEAR AND TEAR AND THE SUN WITHOUT ACCEPTING THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DEFECT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX. WHAT INCENTIVE DO I HAVE TO EVER BUY GMC AGAIN WHEN I AM DRIVING ONE OF THE TOP OF THE LINE VEHICLES WHICH COSTS $65,000 AND I'M TOLD THAT IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT THAT ST 55,000 MILES MY DASH IS CRACKED AND RATTLING AND I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH PAPER STUFFED IN IT TO STIFLE THE NOISE. SO DISGUSTED!!!!! THE BEST THEY COULD DO IS THAT I PAY $300 PLUS TAX TO FIX. WHAT AN INSULT! LAST GMC VEHICLE. MAKE IT RIGHT WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS WHEN IT'S YOUR FAULT!!
THE CRACK IN MY DASH IS NOW FROM THE AIRBAG TO THE VENT. IT HAS CRACKED COMPLETELY THROUGH. I AM CONCERNED IT WILL CAUSE MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY.
WE BOUGHT OUR USED GMC YUKON DENALI XL IN NOVEMBER 2015. IN MAY WE NOTICED THE UPPER LEFT DASHBOARD OF THE PASSENGER SIDE UPPER LEFT CORNER NEXT TO AIRBAG HAS A FEW CRACKS IN IT. MY HUSBAND STARTED OUR CAR TO DRIVE IT TODAY AND THE PIECE THAT CRACKED COMPLETELY FELL INTO THE DASHBOARD LEAVING A 1" HOLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT WILL EFFECT THE AIRBAG AND WHAT OTHER EFFECTS IT MAY HAVE ON THE DASHBOARD ITSELF IN A SAFETY RELATED WAY.

DASH HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES AND APPEARS IT CREATE PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAG IF A CRASH OCCURRED. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE ABSENCE OF ANY KIND OF CRASH. VEHICLE SPENDS MOST OF ITS TIME IN A CLOSED GARAGE
TAKATA RECALL MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HAVING A DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIR BAG AS INDICATED IN THE LETTERS I HAVE RECEIVED. THIS IS DATED JULY 2016. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL GMC DEALER, WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, ABOUT GETTING A REPLACEMENT. (NOVEMBER 13, 2017) THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT IT WAS SAFE. THOSE WERE HER EXACT WORDS. SHE ALSO STATED THAT GMC WAS CONDUCTING THEIR OWN SAFETY TESTING TO ENSURE THAT THEY AGREE WITH TAKATA IN THAT THE AIRBAG IS UNSAFE. SHE SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT US WHEN THE TESTING WAS DONE. I TOLD HER TO SEND ME THAT RESPONSE IN AN EMAIL. TAKATA RECALL GM RECALL 49151 TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR. THIS HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED, NO FURTHER NOTICE HAS BEEN MADE OF ANY ACTIONS, AND RESEARCH OF THE MATTER INDICATES THAT 'INCOMPLETE REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE'. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, AND THAT NOTICE WAS MADE JULY 2016, THE CONDITION HAD BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE NHTSA AND FOUND NO SOLUTION. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! MY WIFE, MY KIDS, MY FRIENDS TRAVEL IN THAT SEAT. WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM IF THIS UNIT IGNITES WITH OR WITHOUT A COLLISION TYPE SITUATION, AND THEY GET SEVERELY BURNT, OR MAIMED BY THIS DEVICE WHICH IS APPARENTLY DEGRADING EACH YEAR THEY DELAY. WHAT ALTERNATIVES DO I HAVE NOW, JUST WAIT FOR IT TO EXPLODE? I REALLY THINK THIS HAS GONE FAR TO LONG ALREADY, AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. THANK YOU.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REMEDY PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. OUR DASHBOARD CRACKED ON A 3 YEAR OLD CAR - THE LOCAL DEALER "REPAIRED" IT AND THE REPAIR LASTED ALL OF A DAY. THE CRACK GOT PROGRESSIVELY BIGGER AND GM REFUSED TO COVER ANY OF THE COST TO REPLACE, TELLING US OUR ONLY OPTION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASH AT A COST OF OVER $1200. WE HAVE HAD IT PATCHED BY A LOCAL REPAIR PLACE WHO DID A BETTER JOB THAN THE DEALER, BUT THE DASH STILL VIBRATES TO THE POINT OF SHAKING AND THE PATCH IS NOW COMING APART AGAIN. THE ACTUAL CRACK IS NOW OVER A 1/2" BIG. WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING AND THE SHARP PLASTIC CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2011 YUKON XL WITH ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO MY YUKON DASHBOARD CRACKED OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AT THE RIGHT PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS DASHBOARD HAS NO SUPPORT UNDER IT AND I CAN PUSH THE DASHBOARD DOWN WITH MY FINGER WITHOUT APPLYING ANY FORCE. WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS THE DASHBOARD WILL BREAK OFF AT THE WEAK POINT BREAKING WITH POINTED SHARP AREAS THAT CAN EITHER PUNCTURE THE AIRBAG OR HIT THE PASSENGER. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ITEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THIS CRACKED DUE TO HEAT SO I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT THE FAULTY DASHBOARD IS CRACKING DUE TO HEAT THAT THE TAKATA RECALL IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT ALSO RELATES TO HEAT IN THIS VEHICLE. BOTH OF THESE ITEMS SHOULD BE RECALLED.
CRACKED DASH OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. CRACK BEGAN IN JUNE 2016. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT. THIS IS A DENALI VEHICLE WHICH SHOULD BE THE TOP OF THE LINE. THIS VEHICLE IS KEPT UNDER A CARPORT THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE CRACK WAS NOTICED.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED
WE HAVE OWNED BOTH A 2007 GMC YUKON SLT AND A 2011 GMC YUKON XL DENALI. IN BOTH VEHICLES, WE HAVE STARTED THE CAR ON AN EXTREME WEATHER DAY (COLD IN THE 2007, HEAT IN THE 2011) AND HEARD A LOUD CRACK. AFTER INSPECTING THE DASHBOARD, THERE IS A LARGE CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. SINCE THEN, IT HAS EXPANDED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE BY THE AIRBAG. THE DASH WOBBLES WHERE IT IS CRACKED WHEN DRIVING AND MAKES SOME NOISE. IF WE WERE IN A WRECK, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE PLASTIC WOULD CRACK WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND SEND SHRAPNEL THROUGH THE CAR. *TR
THE DASHBOARD TO MY YUKON HAS CRASHED IN TWO PLACES. AT THE SPEEDOMETER HOUSING AT RIGHT INTO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG COVER. IT CAUSES THE AIR BAG COVER TO SIT UP, NOT REST NORMALLY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC YUKON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, THE DOOR HANDLE DETACHED FROM THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.

TAKATA RECALL
TAKATA RECALL SINCE 2016 BUT MANUFACTURE HAS REFUSE TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG. I HAVE CONTACTED THE AUTHORIZED GMC DEALER "THORSON BUICK & GMC" NUMBER OF TIME , HOWEVER THEY INDICATE MANUFACTURE DOES NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT.
TAKATA RECALL : I'VE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY'RE WAITING ON PARTS, ITS BEEN MONTHS (ORIGINAL RECALL ALMOST 2 YRS) AND I CAN'T GET MY RECALLED VEHICLE FIXED.
TAMARA RECALL. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN SINCE 2016 AND STILL NOT RESOLVE. I AM ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND PCSING OVERSEAS. I HAVE TO SHIP MY VEHICLE AND THEY WILL NOT SHIP IT WITH AN UNRESOLVED RECALL. MY DASHBOARD HAS SEVERAL CRACKS ACROSS ON BOTH SIDES. HOPE THIS NOT AFFECT AIRBAG SAFETY. RIDING DOWN ROAD WHEN NOTICED THE CRACK; SEEMS TO BE WORSE OR INCREASING IN SIZE.

I TOO HAVE THE CRACKED DASHBOARD IN MY 2011 GMC DENALI. NOT ONLY IS IT A SAFETY HAZARD, BECAUSE APPARENTLY ITS A LABOR INTENSIVE JOB NO ONE WILL TAKE ON THE TASK OF FIXING IT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN MAY OF 2016. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE VISITED THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE TO CONFIRM THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
DASHBOARD CRACKED TOP LEFT OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND ON RIGHT SIDE OF HUMP OVER STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID NO RECALL, I CALLED GMC AND TOLD THEM IT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS ITS SEEMS LIKE THE DASHBOARD IS GOING TO FALL INTO THE STEERING COLUMN AND EVEN MAKE THE AIR BAG NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THEY SAID I AM OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY (AND SAID THEY HAVE HAD TONS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE) . VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND ONLY 53K MILES.
IN APRIL 2016 WHILE IN MOTION MY SIGHT WAS DRAWN AWAY FROM THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC BY A RESONANTING "FLAPPING" OF THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD ASSEMBLY. WHEN I LATER STOPPED I FOUND A SEVERE FRACTURE IN THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL TO THE TOP LEFT SIDE OF THE AIR BAG RESERVOIR (?). I HAVE THE VEHICLE AT A GM DEALER NOW AS DRIVING THE UNIT WITH A PULSATING DASHBOARD WAS A VERY ADVERSE DISTRACTION. WHILE GM APPEARS TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PRODUCT FAULT EXISTS, I STILL HAVE TO PAY OVER $300 TOWARD REPLACING THE DASHBOARD UNIT.

I PURCHASED A 2011 GMC YUKON XL IN JANUARY 2011. IN AUGUST 2014 (57545 MILES), THE DASH BEGAN TO SPLIT ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER'S AIR BAG. A LOCAL GMC DEALER REPLACED THE DASH AT A DEDUCTIBLE CHARGE FROM ME OF $150. IN APRIL OF 2016 (87116 MILES) THE INSTALLED REPLACEMENT DASH HAS SPLIT NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG. THE SAME DEALER HAS SAID THEY WILL REPLACE THE SECOND DASH AT A 30% DISCOUNT, COSTING ME $600. IT IS PLAIN TO ME THAT GM IS REPLACING FAULTY DASHES WITH DASHES MADE FROM THE SAME FAULTY MATERIAL , PLUS ENDANGERING GM OWNERS WITH POSSIBLY MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAGS.
