WHILE TRYING TO GET CV SHAFTS REPLACED, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY FRONT SUBFRAME REAR CROSSMEMBER, SPECIFICALLY THE PASSENGER SIDE, HAD RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH THE TOP HALF AND WAS THUS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, THE SAME AREA THAT RUSTED AWAY IS DIRECTLY BELOW THE AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN PIPE. IT STANDS TO REASON THAT THIS DRAIN PIPE DIRECTS WATER RIGHT ONTO THE SUB FRAME IN THIS SECTION, WHICH WOULD CAUSE IT TO RUST OUT FASTER THAN THE REST OF THE FRAME. MY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE FOR THIS IS AS FOLLOWS: 1) THERE ARE 316,000+ MILES REGISTERED ON THE ODOMETER AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GARAGE KEPT. WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT SURFACES EXPOSED TO ROAD DEBRIS, SALT, AND WATER SHOULD BE EQUALLY AS RUSTED. 2) THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY INTACT. 3) THE AFFECTED PORTION OF THE SUBFRAME IS ACTUALLY THE SUPERIOR (TOP) ASPECT WHICH IS DIRECTLY BELOW THE DRAIN PIPE, AS OPPOSED TO THE INFERIOR (BOTTOM) ASPECT, WHICH IS CLOSER TO THE ROAD. JUST 2 MONTHS BEFORE I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THIS INDEPENDENT SHOP FOR CV SHAFT SERVICE, I HAD A HONDA DEALERSHIP, SPECIFICALLY CLASSIC HONDA LOCATED IN STREETSBORO, OHIO PERFORM A FRONT SWAY BAR BUSHING SERVICE AND I RECEIVED A COMPLEMENTARY INSPECTION. FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE SWAY BAR BUSHING LOCATION, THE BUSHINGS ARE HELD AGAINST THE FRONT SUBFRAME REAR CROSSMEMBER VIA BRACKETS THAT BOLT IN. WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT THE HONDA TECHNICIAN WHO SERVICED MY VEHICLE LOOKED AT THE DAMAGED SUBFRAME. NOT ONLY DID THEY FAIL TO DETECT THIS ISSUE DURING THE SERVICE, THEY ALSO FAILED TO DETECT THIS ISSUE DURING THE INSPECTION FOR WHICH I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED THAT THEY LOOK AT THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION TO ASSESS SAFETY. IF THIS SUBFRAME WOULD HAVE FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION, TAKING AWAY MY ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THROWING DEBRIS.
I AM HAVING ISSUES W/TEMP GAUGE GOING UP AND DOWN , MAY HAVE TO HAVE A BIG ENG, JOB DONE, THIS IS NOT RIGHT, I TAKE VERY GREAT CARE OF MY CARS, NEAVER HAD ISSUES LIKE THIS BEFORE, ? HEATER CORE, , AND PAINT ON THE ROOF!!! WHY THE REST OF CAR IS FINE, LOOKS LIKE SKIN CANCER ,THIS SHOULD BE FIXED!!! I HAVE HEARD THAT THEY ARE REDOING THIS! CAR RUNS OK,, TEMP GAUGE IS A BIG ISSUE 151,000 MILES. GOOD FOR THE YR!!!
AT AROUND 185000 MILES NOW, THIS CAR WHICH WE BOUGHT A FEW YEARS AGO WITH MAYBE 50,000 TO 60,000 LESS MILES STARTED SHIFTING REALLY HARD BETWEEN 1ST GEAR AND 2ND GEAR. NOW IT SLAMS IN GEAR. FROM ALL WE'VE READ IT IS A DESIGN FLAW REGARDING THE FILTER WHICH COLLECTS TINY METAL PARTICULATES PREVENTING ENOUGH PRESSURE FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO PROPERLY AND SMOOTHLY SHIFT. HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF THIS SITUATION AND WILL NOT OFFER TO REPLACE THESE TRANSMISSIONS. THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS I FIND WHEN READING ABOUT THIS COMPLAINT ONLINE AND EVERYONE SAYS THE SAME THING. AND THERE ARE SO FEW LEFT OF THESE YEARS THAT HONDA OUGHT TO HAVE NO PROBLEM REPLACING OR REPAIRING THESE TRANSMISSIONS FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE STILL DRIVING THESE CARS. I WANT THEM TO REPAIR OR REPLACE OUR TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF THEIR DESIGN FLAW, NOT OUR MISUSE. PLEASE SEE THIS GETS REVIEWED BY A DECISION MAKE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
BEGAN HEARING UNUSUAL NOISE FROM RIGHT FRONT TIRE AREA WHEN TURNING. UPON INVESTIGATING, DISCOVERED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS WORN EXCESSIVELY AND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT SUB-FRAME IS ROTTED OUT. NO OTHER PART OF THE FRAME IS ROTTED ONLY THE RIGHT FRONT. APPARENT CAUSE IS A DESIGN FLAW WHERE THE A/C DRAIN TUBE IS LOCATED DIRECTLY OVER THIS SUB-FRAME AND CAUSES IT TO PREMATURELY RUST AND ROT OUT. I CANNOT GET AN ALIGNMENT BECAUSE THE SUB-FRAME IS TOO WEAK. I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE THE SUB-FRAME WILL LIKELY FAIL CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
MY VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH ON A MAIN ST. THE VEHICLE BEEPED AND THE GREEN KEY LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASH, THEN ALL DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND THE BRAKES STOPPED AS WELL. I HAD TO SLAM MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM REAR ENDING AN 18 WHEELER.
CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF TRUNK AREA AND ON THE HOOD AREA SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING SINCE THE VEHICLE IS GARAGED 65% OF THE TIME
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER AND WAS GOING TO DO MY BRAKES ON IT AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME IS ROTTED OUT DOE TO WHERE THE AIR CONDITIONER HOSE SITS THIS IS A SAFTEY HAZARD DUE TO THE MOTOR CAN DROP OUT OR MY NEW DRIVER COULD GET INTO A ACCIDENT AND THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS NO RUST VERY CONCEREND WHY HONDA HAS NOT DONE A RECALL ON THIS IT IS ALL OVER UTUBE DUE TO FAILURE OF THIS PART HONDA NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO FOR NOT LOOKING AT THERE VEICHLES PROPERLY YOU SEE IT WHEN YOU DO AN OIL CHANGE SOMEONE IS GOING TO SERIOUSLY GET HURT OR DIE PLEASE HAVE THEM RECLL THIS SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL HONDA OWNERS
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, REAR CHAMBER OF FRONT SUBFRAME RUST. REPORTS OF A/C DRAIN RESULTING IN RUST. DRIVER SIDE OF SUBFRAME, NO VISIBLE RUST.
IN MID TO LATE APRIL 2017 I BEGAN HEARING A CRUNCHING/POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 1999 ACCORD. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUB-FRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. I HAD NEVER IN MY LIFE HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPENING TO A CAR. I UNDERSTAND LIVING IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE UNITED STATES THERE IS A HEAVY AMOUNT OF SALT PUT ON THE ROADS IN THE WINTER AND CARS RUST, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE OLDER. BUT ACTUALLY BREAKING! I WAS TOLD THE TOTAL REPAIR WOULD COST 2,000 DOLLARS! I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR AS I JUST GOT OUT OF COLLEGE. THUS, I HAD TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. I FIND THIS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE DRIVEN SEVERAL CARS OVER LAST 17 YEARS AND NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN TOLD THE STEEL SUB-FRAME OF YOUR CAR HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND IF YOU DON'T FIX THIS YOU COULD INJURE NOT ONLY YOURSELF BUT OTHERS, NOT TO MENTION YOU'RE CAR COULD BE DESTROYED. I DISCOVERED AFTER SOME ONLINE RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH 1998-2002 HONDA'S IN WHICH THE A/C DRAIN HOSE DRIPS ON THE SUB-FRAME CAUSING IT RUST AND WEAKEN PREMATURELY. I ALSO REALIZE THAT HONDA HAS YET TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS DESIGN FLAW, WHICH IS CONCERNING BECAUSE THERE ARE STILL TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS OUT THERE ON THE ROADS RIGHT NOW. I HAVE BEEN A HONDA DRIVER SINCE 2009 AND HAVE STOOD BY THEM, BUT THIS IS REPREHENSIBLE AND I TRULY HOPE THERE WILL BE SOME KIND OF CLASS ACTION OR SETTLEMENT BROUGHT ABOUT BECAUSE THIS HIT ME HARD FINANCIALLY AND SOURED THE REPUTATION ON WHAT HAS OTHERWISE BEEN A WONDERFUL, WELL MAINTAINED CAR I EXPECT TO GET A FEW MORE YEARS OUT OF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RANDOM FAILURE WITH THE PARK INTERLOCK FUNCTION AND THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND SHIFTED IN AND OUT OF PARK SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.
MY DAUGHTER WAS HOME FROM SCHOOL AND COMPLAINED OF S CLUNKING SOUNDS WHEN TURNING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT. I REMOVED THE WHEEL AND FOUND THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED OUT ON THE REAR ON BOTH SECTIONS. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE 1998 TO 2002 HONDA ACCORDS. THE LEFT SIDE WAS FINE. THIS SEEMS TO BE DUE THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSATE DRIPPING ON THE FRAME AREA. LUCKILY THIS WAS FOUND IN TIME BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE COULD HAVE OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V025000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 256,482.
TRAVELLING ON INTERSTATE WHEN WHEN FRONT-END OF VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. MOMENTS AFTER THE VIBRATION, THE CAR VEERED HARD RIGHT ON ITS OWN. UNABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE, AS STEERING WHEEL SEEMED AS IT WAS "LOCKED" IN A HARD-RIGHT ENABLING POSITION. THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSED THE DRIVER TO HIT A RETAINING WALL AT APPROX 55MPH, CAUSING BODILY INJURY. INSPECTION REVEALED A FAULTY/FAILED STEERING KNUCKLE, WHICH HAD COMPLETELY FAILED/SNAPPED. CAR CONSIDERED A TOTAL, AFTER INCIDENT.
TAKATA RECALL I HAD PROBLEMS WITH GETTING THE KEY TO TURN IN THE IGNITION. IT EVENTUALLY FAILED. I WAS INFORMED BY A PROFESSIONAL THAT IT WAS THE KEY. I HAD THE KEY REPLACED. HONDA TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE KEY KNOWING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. TOO, MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY DIMMED. I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL REPLACEMENTS. THEY STILL APPEAR VERY DIM.
CAR TURNS ON THEN ONCE IT WARMS UP IT TURNS OFF PLEASE HELP ME FIX MY PROBLEM
1999 ACCORD 4 DR 3.0 WITH MAJOR RUST IN FRONT RIGHT SUB-FRAME UNDER THE AC DRIP HOSE. MAJOR FAILURE TO THAT PART IS ANYTIME NOW. THE OTHER SIDE IN SAME AREA IS RUST FREE. CAR IS 98% RUST FREE. GARAGED, 118K CURRENTLY. GOOGLING THIS ISSUE POPS UP MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS DEFECT!
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY ENGINE STALLS. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY A CAR BEHIND ME AS MY CAR WAS COASTING. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO STEER MY CAR OFF TO THE SHOULDER AS WAS ABLE TO START MY CAR AGAIN. IN DOING SOME INVESTIGATING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THE MAIN ISSUE IS WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. THERE WERE A FEW RECALLS ON THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH I HAD GONE TO THE DEALER TO TAKE CARE OF (YEAR 2002 AND 2005). IT APPEARS THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED IS STILL FAULTY. I HAVE AROUND 143K MILES ON MY CAR WHEN THE LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED. I HAD THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPEN A FEW OTHER TIMES WITHIN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, BUT AT SLOWER SPEEDS. I WANT TO REPORT THIS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS RECALL REPLACEMENT PART DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM AND CAN STILL ENDANGER THE LIVES OF OTHER DRIVERS OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE.
CAR WAS IN MOTION DRIVING 70 MPH AND ENGINE CUT OUT, MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHT FLASHED, POWER STEERING LOCKED, CAR JOLTED. IT DID THIS TWICE WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS AND RESTARTED BOTH TIMES. I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR FOR MY 17 YEAR OLD AND IT HAPPENED TWO DAYS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT. I TRIED TO REPLICATE IT BUT COULD NOT. I RAN THE VIN LOOKING FOR RECALLS BEFORE PURCHASE BUT FOUND NONE FOR MY VEHICLE. AFTER THIS HAPPENED I SAW ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS REGARDING IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE USED CAR DEALER WHO HAS A MECHANIC ONSITE AND I SHOWED HIM THE COMPLAINTS I HAD FOUND THAT WERE SIMILAR TO WHAT HAPPENED. I HAD HIM REMOVE AND INSPECT THE IGNITION SWITCH. HE DID FIND UPON OBSERVATION THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THERE HAD BEEN SOME ELECTRICAL SPARKS AND I BELIEVE HE SAID SOME CORROSION TOO, AND THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I PAID HIM TO PUT IN A NEW ONE AS THIS ISSUE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM THANKFUL THE FAILURE WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THAT THE CAR RESTARTED, OTHERWISE I'M NOT SURE MY DAUGHTER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SAFELY STEER THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AT SUCH A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND BECAUSE SHE IS NOT AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER. THE CAR HAS ONLY 81,500 MILES AND I BELIEVE ONLY HAD ONE OWNER PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE. I WAS SO EXCITED TO GET AN ACCORD WITH LOW MILES, BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND HAZARD.
MY 99 HONDA ACCORD HAS STARTED LOOSING POWER AND SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING, TOOK TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED PLUGS AND WIRES WE HAVE REPLACED WIRES TWICE IN LESS THEN 6 MONTHS BUT THIS HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS I SEE QUITE A FEW OTHERS HAVE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED!
TOOK MY 99 ACCORD TO THE DEALER FOR AN EXHAUST-THEY SAID THE ENGINE SUBFRAME HAS A HOLE AND IS RUSTED WHERE THE A/C HOSE DRAINS ON IT - THIS IS A DEFECT WHICH AFFECTS THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE CAR AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY HONDA.
SAME ISSUE AS EVERYONE ELSE WITH A 1999 HONDA ACCORD VIN # STARTING WITH 1HGCG, WAS TOLD BY HONDA MY VEHICLE DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. MY CAR WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN AT 70 MPH AND I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN AT 15 MPH. NORMALLY WILL TURN OFF AND RESTART ITSELF (WHILE DRIVING) AND THE KEY SIGNAL WILL FLASH. THE PAST TWO TIMES MY CAR HAS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF ON THE INTERSTATE AND I HAD TO FIGHT TO GET OVER BEFORE GETTING KILLED. AS WELL AS, MY CAR HAS TURNED OFF WHILE IN DRIVE AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PARK AND THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. IF THESE WERE THE RECALLS AND I HAVE A 1999 HONDA I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED. I PROMISE I WILL CALL EVERYONE I HAVE TO, TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I HAVE A CHILD AND I CAN NOT BE STALLING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,300.
MY CAR HAS BEEN RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. NO ONE COULD TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES INCLUDING ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE IS NO WARNING OTHER THAN LIGHTS FLASHING ON THE DASH AND THEN CUTS OFF. I LOSE MY POWER STEERING AND CAN BARELY GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO RESTART IT. NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN IT WILL RESTART ON THE FIRST TRY BUT SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WORK WITH IT TO GET IT TO START AGAIN. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE MANY HONDA ACCORDS THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THERE WAS ACTUALLY A RECALL ON 97-2000 HONDA ACCORDS. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. IVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO AREN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL WITH 99 HONDA ACCORDS WHOSE VIN NUMBER BEGINS IN 1HGCG JUST AS MINE DOES AND ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SO OBVIOUSLY IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFAULT. IT DOES NOT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO GATHER THAT. WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET HONDA TO RECALL IT?

I BOUGHT A 1999 HONDA ACCORD EX FOR MY NIECE. AFTER DRIVING IT TO GET TIRES, I HEARD A CLUNK/SCRAPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I NOTICE THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED CLEAN THROUGH. RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE A/C DRAIN DRIP. THE CAR DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. THE UPPER BALL JOINT IS COMPRAMISED. THE SWAY BAR MOUNT BOLTS RIGHT TO THAT AREA.
ON 03/19/20016 I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND OUT OF NOW WHERE I STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND I TRIED TO TAKE OFF I HAD TO HIT THE GAS PEDDLE BEFORE THE CAR WOULD MOVE. I MADE IT TO WORK AND I TOOK INTO A MECHANIC THAT SAME NIGHT AND HE INFORMED ME THAT I MAY NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.

THE A/C COMPRESSOR DRIPS DIRECTLY ON THE SUBFRAME, WHICH RUSTED IT COMPLETELY APART. WHICH IN TURN, DESTROYED THE SUSPENSION. MY CAR IS NOW WAITING TO BE TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE, TOTALLY NOT DRIVABLE. I WAS ON A CITY STREET. NORMAL TURN AROUND A CORNER. MY ACCORD WAS MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN HITTING SMALL BUMPS AT ALL SPEEDS. THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS ANALYZED AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS THE FRONT SUB-FRAME WAS REPLACED. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SUB-FRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND WAS LOOSE FROM THE CAR'S BODY AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. OTHER AREAS OF THE SUB-FRAME HAVE MINIMAL RUST AND DON'T HAVE THIS ISSUE. MY MECHANIC HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE IN MANY OTHER HONDA ACCORDS IN THIS AGE RANGE AND SAYS IT'S CAUSED BY THE AC'S CONDENSER DRAIN THAT'S LOCATED RIGHT ABOVE THAT AREA OF THE SUB-FRAME. HONDA MOVED THE DRAIN LOCATION IN THE 2003/2004 MODEL. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS IN THE $2500 AREA WHICH IS MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. HONDA SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL FOR SUCH A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW.
WHEN I'M DRIVING ALONG, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY DIE. NO SPUTTER, NO NOTHING, JUST DEAD. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES AND I JUST TOOK IT TO HONDA. SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET SAYS THAT ELECTRICAL SWITCH SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER AT DCH KAY HONDA, 200 NJ-36, EATONTOWN, NJ 07724. THEY SAID NO COMPLAINTS OR RECALL ON MY VIN. THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE AS IT MAY STOP AT ANY TIME DURING THE DRIVING.

NOISE IN THE RIGHT AXLE IN THE TRANSMISSION
MY 1999 HONDA ACCORD 4CYL NOW HAS A BROKEN SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY. THE SUBFRAME HAS SO MUCH CORROSION THAT BUSHING, ETC. HAS DISINTEGRATED. HOWEVER, THIS HAS ONLY OCCURRED ON THE RIGHT CORNER JUST BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THIS IS ALSO THE LOCATION OF THE A/C DRAIN HOSE. APPARENTLY THE HOSE DRAINS RIGHT ONTO THE SUBFRAME AND HAS CAUSED THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THOUSANDS OF ACCORDS ARE AFFECTED BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY THE MANUFACTURER TO RECALL THIS ENGINEERING ISSUE. WITH THE SUBFRAME BROKEN, I CANNOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT EITHER (SINCE A NEW ONE IS $700 + LABOR).
RECALL ORDER FOR IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO DEALER TO PERFORM. NOW THAT PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED DEALERSHIP REPAIR CLAIMS TO HAVE DONE WORK ON TWO RECALL ITEMS THAT WERE NEVER BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIR. I.E., FRAUDULENT CLAIM OF REPLACEMENT WORK WAS FILED WITH HONDA BY DEALERSHIP. CLAIM REPAIR WAS DONE 1/28/2006. HAVE ALL REPAIR RECORDS FROM 2000.
