IN REFERENCE TO A 2000 HONDA ACCORD WITH NEARLY 160,000 MILES. THE SRS LIGHT CAME HOME A FEW DAYS AGO. THE SRS LIGHT INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT ME PAYING THEM NEARLY $100. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THIS SRS LIGHT INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH AN OPDS SENSOR AND IS COMMON IN THIS YEAR MODEL. I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO OR WHO TO CONTACT. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COVERED AND REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THIS SENSOR AND IN NO WAY COULD I HAVE "BROKEN" THIS OR CAUSED THE PROBLEM. 2000 HONDA ACCORD HIT DRY ICE AND HIT SANDING TRUCK ON FRONT OF ACCORD NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED I WAS PASSENGER AND WEARING A SEAT BELT BROKE MY STERNUM DUE TO GREAT IMPACT OF CRASH. ENDED UP SPENDING 3 DAYS IN HOSPITAL AND 6 WEEKS OFF OF WORK. *JB
SRS LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX. TOOK MY CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT (FEMALE SIDE). THE LIGHT HAS NOW BEEN OFF FOR TWO WEEKS.
CAR KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT REQUIRING THE DRIVER TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED LAST MONTH AND AM NOT ACCUSTOMED TO DRIVING AN AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION VEHICLE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, I HAVE LEFT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE MOTOR, ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR BEGIN ROLLING FORWARD OR BACKWARD. CONDITION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. CURIOUSLY, THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM FOR WHICH THE NHTSA ISSUED RECALL NO. 05V025000. HOWEVER, DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. REFUSE TO REPAIR THE CAR BECAUSE ITS VIN NUMBER DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE RANGE THAT HONDA BELIEVES TO BE INCLUSIVE OF CARS WITH THIS DEFECT. UNBELIEVABLE. CAR IS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. *NM
2000 HONDA ACCORD HIT THE BACK OF A HYUNDAI SONOMA AT RATE OF SPEED AROUND 50 MPH. AIR BAGS ON HONDA DID NOT DEPLOY FOR DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDES. DRIVER OBTAINED HEAD INJURIES AND NECK TRAUMA. HONDA IS AT TOW YARD. *NM
I PURCHASED A 2000 HONDA ACCORD USED IN 2003. IT HAD APPROX 14,000 MILES. AT 30,000 I HAD TO TURN THE ROTORS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY DRIVING HABITS THAT CAUSED IT. I AM 54 YRS OLD AND HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO TURN ROTORS UNTIL NEAR 60,000. I AGAIN WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AT 45,000 AND THEY TURNED THEM AGAIN. I NOW HAVE 54,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THE FRONT END IS SHAKING AGAIN WHEN I DRIVE AND BRAKE NORMALLY AT 60 MILES AN HOUR. I'M GOING TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO HONDA AGAIN. IF MY ROTORS NEED REPLACING THEN I PLAN TO ASK FOR MY PARTS BACK SO I CAN SHOW NYS DEPT OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON HONDA BRAKES AND I CAN'T FIND ANY TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OR RECALLS FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR. UNBELIEVABLE. I WANT NHTSA TO LOOK INTO THIS. I RECENTLY GOT A CLASS ACTION SUIT LETTER REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION - THEY ARE EXTENDING MY WARRANTY 9 MONTHS - BIG DEAL. THE ATTORNEYS GET RICH AND IF MY TRANSMISSION GOES AFTER THE EXTRA 9 MONTHS THEN I PAY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THERE WAS A LAG IN THE TRANSMISSION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SEEN BY A DEALER.

2000 HONDA ACCORD WITH SRS LIGHT ON. DEALER REPLACED AIR BAG COMPUTER. 2 MONTHS LATER, SRS LIGHT BACK ON. *NM
ABNORMAL DOWNSHIFTING OF GEARS. HARDSHIFTING GEARS BETWEEN 1 AND 2. REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO HONDA DEALER IN YEAR 2006 AND THEY SAID ITS ALL OKAY AND NO ISSUES. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE OVER THE YEARS. WHEN I INITIALLY REPORTED THIS ISSUE IN 2006 FOR MY ACCORD WAS COVERED UNDER HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTED FOR TRANSMISSION RECALL, BUT THE HONDA DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE. IN YEAR 2010, ANOTHER HONDA DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE, WHEN THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE GONE TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY ALSO CONFIRM ITS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE DUE TO INTERNAL MECHANICAL ISSUE. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DENYING THE WARRANTY COVERAGE EVEN THOUGH THE FIRST INSTANCE OF REPORT WAS DONE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN WARRANTY PERIOD. *TR
2000 HONDA ACCORD SRS LIGHT AND SENSOR UNIT PROBLEMS**CC THE SRS CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED AT 67339 MILES, 87909 MILES AND AGAIN AT 97762 MILES. THE FIRST TIME IT FAILED THE CONSUMER ONLY HAVE TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE. THE SECOND TIME THE SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT ONLY HAD A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER DECIDE TO JUST LET THE DEALER RESET THE LIGHT AND NOT TO HAVE THE UNIT REPLACED. THE LIGHT CAME ON A THIRD TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT IT WOULD COST $690.54 TO REPLACE THE UNIT. *NM
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ABOUT 6.30 PM AND IN A FLASH MY DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT. I WENT TO A HONDA DEALER, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT, AND IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. SO I LOOKED UP ,IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, THEIR IS, BUT HONDA SAID MY VIN# WASN'T ON THEIR LIST. *NM

CAR HIT A DITCH GOING 40-50 MPH. AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY RESULTING IN BROKEN RIB SUBDURAL HEMATOMA AND SEVERE BRUISING ON HEAD AND CHEST. CAR WAS TOTALED OUT BY INSURANCE COMPANY. *NM
THE SRS LIGHT STAYS ON FOR MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THIS IS THE 6TH OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS IN 2002 AND TODAY, OCTOBER 18, 2006, IT IS ON AGAIN FOR THE 6TH TIME. WHEN THIS LIGHT STAYS ON THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY SHOULD THERE BE AN ACCIDENT. ACCORDING TO NEW YORK STATE LAW, IF A VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAGS THEY MUST BE FUNCTIONING. *NM

I TOO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE SRS LIGHT. IT CAME ON ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I NEW THEY WOULD CHARGE A SMALL FOURTUNE TO REPAIR. THEN I RECEIVED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY LETTER. HOWEVER, I CAN'T AFFORD TO GIVE UP MY CAR FOR A DAY OR SO WHILE THEY DIAGNOSE WHAT THE CAUSE IS. *NM
1. EARLY (2006) I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE WAS ON, THE CAR WOULD BUCKLE WHEN CHANGING GEARS AND IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THIS WOULD OCCUR MORE OFTEN AFTER A STOP. I WOULD FIND MYSELF TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION, ETC. AND THE CAR WOULD PARTIALLY STALL. HONDA IN JERSEY CITY NJ RT 440 REPLACED THE ERG (?) VALUE AFTER I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. 2. PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER A 1 MILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED AND THE CAR WAS GIVING ME THE SAME ISSUE. 3. HONDA REPLACED AN ADDITIONAL PART, THE CAR APPEARED TO BE DRIVING FINE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. 4. DROPPED OFF THE HONDA FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT AND THE BUCKLING ISSUE WHEN CHANGING GEARS TO PLANET HONDA ON RT 22 IN ELIZABETH NJ. THE CAR WAS RETURNED STATING NO PROBLEM. THE ISSUE WAS NEVER RESOLVED. 5. I PROBLEM IN RECENT MONTHS HAD WORSEN, YESTERDAY 10/9/06 THE CAR STARTED STALLING I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A MECHANIC. THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED NEW TRANSMISSION REQUIRED. MECHANIC ALSO IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS BEING SEEN BY HIM ON OTHER HONDA V6 CARS. I WANT TO MENTIONED THAT MY CAR WAS UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHILE IN THE SHOP IN JERSEY CITY AN OF COURSE THE PARTS REPLACED WERE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, GRANTED THAT TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE BEEN. I HAVE ALSO FOUND A LIST OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR V6 TRANSMISSION FAILING AROUND THE 85K MILEAGE JUST AS MINE. BELOW IS ONE OF THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS I FOUND WITH A SIMPLE SEARCH. I CALLED JERRY DAMSON HONDA AND WAS TOLD BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY GIVEN TO SOME HONDA OWNERS WHICH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SRS LIGHT COMING ON THERE SHOULD NOT BE AN EXCEPTION FOR CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS. THIS IS UNFAIR!!!! SRS LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR WEEKS, FOUND IT MEANS FAULTY AIRBAG. FOUND HONDA ISSUED "TECHNICAL BULLETIN 02034 (UPDATE 06-009) FOR A FAULTY CONTROL UNIT THAT CAUSED THE SRS TO COME ON. THE WARRANTY IS FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES." CALLED STEVENS CREEK HONDA DEALERSHIP (SAN JOSE), AND SERVICE ADVISOR QUOTED $126 JUST FOR CHECKING IF MY CASE APPLIES TO IT. IF IT IS, HE SAID HE WILL CALL HONDA FOR ACTION. WHY DOES NOT HONDA JUST RECALL THIS ? DO I HAVE TO PAY $126 JUST TO SEE IF IT IS WARRANTY ITEM ? THE KEYS CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION (RECALL # 05V025000) WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE IS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 105,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

DASH BOARD LIGHTS WENT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS INVISIBLE IN NIGHT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I COULD NOT READ ANY OF THE INSTRUMENT PANELS. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR FAILURE ANALYSIS AND REPAIRS. THEY FOUND THAT THE MULTIPLEX UNIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR HAD FAILED AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. HONDA HAS ALREADY ISSUED RECALL FOR THE SAME COMPONENT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE SAME MODEL YEAR (2000) CAR AS MINE, BUT SINCE MY VIN# WAS NOT PART OF RECALL, THEY REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL. AT THIS POINT I HAD TO PAY $428.00 TO GET THE CAR FIXED. I WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO TAKE THIS UP HONDA TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE AS PART OF RECALL AS THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL YEAR. AIRBAG MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON. CREATING A CRITICAL AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED DEFECT AND IS COVERED BY LAW AS STATED BY NHTSA ON THERE WEB SITE UNDER VOQ AND RECALL BOOKLET. THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION CREATES A SITUATION IN WHICH COULD CAUSE DEATH AND CRITICAL INJURIES TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. THEY REFUSE 100% TO REPAIR THE MALFUNCTION. THEY REFUSED TO LET ME SPEAK TO A DEPT. SUPERVISOR. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE DEPT. SUPERVISOR NEVER CONTACTS OR SPEAKS TO ANY CUSTOMER. STATING THAT THIS WAS THE WAY THEY DO BUSINESS. I SPOKE TO MR. TODD YAMATSUKA AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. AT AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I TOLD HIM MORE THAN ONE TIME THAT THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION WAS A CRITICAL SAFETY RELATED DEFECT AND I ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT BY REFUSING TO REPAIR THE MALFUNCTION WOULD BE A VIOLATION UNDER NHTSA LAW REQUIREMENTS. HE EVEN OFFERED ME WHAT CAN BE CONSIDERED AS A BRIBE, STATING THAT HE COULD GET ME FREE SPARK PLUGS, DIST.CAP, AND WIRES. I REFUSED TO ACCEPT THIS. IN ORDER TO END THIS CONVERSATION I ASK FOR THE LAST TIME IF HE WAS GOING TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION HE STATED NO. PS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT OEM STANDS FOR PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN EVER POSSIBLE. *NM

I PURCHASE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD 4DR.SEDAN, S/E NEW IN 2000. ON APRIL 18,2005 WHILE HAVING THE OIL/FILTER CHANGED AT HONDA WEST IN LAS VEGAS, NV I WAS INFORMED THAT A SWAY BAR LINK WAS BROKEN. IT WAS REPLACED BY THAT DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF $103.58 TO ME. I SAW THE BROKEN PART AND IT APPEARED TO HAVE BROKEN AT THE WELD ON THAT PART. THAT WAS THE DRIVER SIDE. ON SEPT 17, 2006, I WAS HAVING THE OIL/FILTER CHANGED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE "SWAY BAR LINK" ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS BROKEN, I SAW THAT ALSO AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN AT THE WELD LIKE THE ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE A YEAR BEFORE. AT THIS POINT I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA AND THEY SAY THAT THE RECALL YOU SHOW ON JULY 12, 2000, CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V184000 DOES NOT EFFECT MY VEHICLE. NOTE I DID NOT GET THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED IN LAS VEGAS, AND I HAVE APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE BROKE PART NOW REPLACED BY BATTLE CREEK HONDA PROBABLY ON WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY THIS WEEK. I WILL GET THE BROKEN PART THIS TIME. *NM
SRS LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THERE IS NO APPARENT PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THIS LIGHT IS ON AND DEALERSHIP WANTS TONS OF MONEY TO FIX IT. SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY FEATURE, THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS COMMON PROBLEM AND I THINK YOU REALLY SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT WAS LOOSE ON THE FLOOR BASE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE SEAT ADJUSTOR BRACKET THAT ATTACHED THE SEAT TO THE SEAT BASE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE WELDED BACK ONTO THE BASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE INNER LOCK ON THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS NOT WORKING WHICH ALLOWED THE KEY TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V025000, REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH . THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. UPDATED 10/04/06. *JB

I CALLED MY HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT "SOME" OF THE 2000 ACCORDS WERE COVERED IN BY AN EXTENDED (10 YEAR, 150K MILE) WARRANTY FOR THIS SYSTEM. HOWEVER, WHEN THEY RAN THE VIN ON MY 2000 ACCORD, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MINE WAS NOT COVERED. THEY COULD GIVE ME NO ANSWER AS TO WHY SOME OF 2000 WERE COVERED BUT MINE, WHICH HAS THIS CRITICAL SAFETY PROBLEM, WAS NOT. HONDA IS MAKING A BIG MISTAKE WITH THIS VITAL SAFETY ISSUE. *JB

THE SRS LIGHT CAME BACK ON A WEEK LATER. I'M TOLD BY HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE TO GO BACK TO A DEALER, PAY ANOTHER $100 FOR ANOTHER EVALUATION. THEY ALSO SAID I COULD GET REIMBURSED FOR ALL THE TIMES I ALREADY PAID THE FEE IF I COULD GET THE SERVICE HISTORY FROM THE DEALERS. GUESS HOW COOPERATIVE THE DEALERSHIPS ARE BEING AT PROVIDING THAT INFORMATION? I CALLED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $60 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THEN A CHARGE FOR FIXING THE DEFECTIVE PART. I ASKED WHAT WOULD BE THE COST TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG, IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME THE COST. *NM
SRS LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 80,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD EVERYTHING FROM IT WAS NO BIG DEAL, YOUR AIR BAGS WILL NOT WORK. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW THAT DANGER, IF IT COULD BE FIXED, AND IF THERE WAS A WARRANTY COVERAGE ISSUE. DT* : THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY SERVICE-USING CARBURETOR CLEANER. RECENTLY THE VEHICLE THE SAME PROBLEMS RECURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT; THE ACCELERATOR BECAME STUCK SENDING THE VEHICLE CRASHING INTO A WALL OF A BRICKED BUILDING CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT SIDE. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE CONTACT INCURRED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WILL NEED STRUCTURAL REPAIRS AND AIR BAG REPLACEMENT.

WHEN I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (OPEN ROAD HONDA) THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD COST 105 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THEN FROM THERE IT WOULD BE ADDITIONAL COSTS. I READ ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT ALL SAFETY ITEMS SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO COST. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT ONLY SAFETY BELTS ARE UNDER THAT WARRANTY. I'M VERY UNHAPPY. I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES AND THE SENSOR SYSTEM IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THAT DETECTS WHETHER A PERSON IS PROPERLY SEATED IS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE MY SRS WARNING LIGHT CONSTANTLY STAYS ON DURING VEHICLE OPERATION.
