RETURNED TO HONDA FOR SERVICE FOR SRS LIGHT THAT STAYS ON, SERVICE STATES AIRBAGS NON-OPERATIONAL AND NO UPDATED PARTS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL YEAR AT THIS TIME, SERVICE RESET SENSOR LIGHT AND PROBLEM RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY AND SERVICE CLAIMS THERE IS NO AVAILABLE FIX ,LEAVING US WITH A CAR WITH NO AIRBAGS.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE GEAR SELECTOR SHIFTED INTO THE "DRIVE" POSITION; AND UNEXPECTEDLY THE IGNITION KEY RELEASED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH INTERLOCK WAS REPLACED. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED SIX TO EIGHT YEARS LATER AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
CONSUMER STATES WHILE MOVING GEAR SHIFT TO DRIVE, HE/SHE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION, VEHICLE WENT AIRBORN OVER A FENCE AND HIT A TREE, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK, SO THE CONSUMER FINALLY HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION, CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SERVICE DEPT COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. *YD
UNREASONABLE FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION OCCURRED TO 2 YEAR OLD VEHILCLE WITH 38,000 MILES. HONDA WOULD ONLY PAY FOR PART REPLACEMENT, NOT FOR ASSOCIATED LABOR AND RENTAL CAR.*AK
WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT A LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A SPEED OF 70 MPH. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WENT OVER A FENCE. THE AXLE BROKE AND THE TWO FRONT TIRES BLEW OUT. THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. *AK THE FOOT BRAKE FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *TT *JB
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, VEHICLE HYDROPLANED INTO AN ENBANKMENT. *AK TIRES: MICHELIN 195/65 R15 91H M+S. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE HYDROPLANED. AFTER THIS ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND ONE WEEK LATER THE THIRD INCIDENT OCCURED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND CONSUMER WILL BE SELLING IT. *JG
WHILE DRIVING, THE SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT AFTER THE OCCUPANT POSITION DETECTION SYSTEM UNIT WAS REPLACED SINCE APRIL 02, THE CONSUMER WAS TAKING THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS AT DEALER FOR SRS LIGHT EVERY MONTH (ALMOST TWICE A MONTH). *SCC
WHILE DRIVING 60MPH, CONSUMER HIT A PIG WEIGHING APPROX. 250 TO 300 LBS. AND AIRBAGS DIDNOT DEPLOY. TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER INDICATED VOLTAGE WAS TO LOW ON AIRBAGS.*JB CONSUMER IS CONCERNED BECAUSE PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN FOR AIRBAG SAME PROBLEM. PHOTOS ATTACHED. *TT
I OWNED A HONDA ACCORD 2000 EX MODEL. WE BOUGHT FROM DEALER AS NEW.5 YEARS AGO, THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK TO THE DEALER IN ATLANTA GEORGIA (BEFORE WE MOVED TO CALIFORNIA), THEIR SERVICE ATTITUDE WAS EXTREMELY BAD. AND TOLD US THAT WE NEED TO PAID FOR OUR DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND COULD COST US $1,500 TO FIX IT I WAS EXTREMELY MAD AND CALLED HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE IN TORRANCE. THEY WERE VERY BAD TOO. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. THE SERVICE WAS OUTRAGEOUS BAD. THE SRS CONCERN THE DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG AND SHOULD BE A LIFETIME WARRANTY. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT SO MANY HONDA ACCORD OWNERS HAVE THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM. WE SUGGEST NHTS MAKE THIS CASE WITH HONDA AND ASK THEM TO PUT THIS ISSUE AS LIFETIME WARRANTY HONDA NORTH AMERICA IS VERY BAD. *JB
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE ENIGNE REVED LOUDLY, I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AS THE SPEED INCREASED. THE CAR SURGED OVER A MEDIAN SEPARATING THE PARKING SPACE ROWS AND STRUCK TWO OTHER CARS IN THE ROW FACING THE ROW I WAS PULLING INTO. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME, BUT THE CAR KEPT ACCELERATING. I CONTACTED MY DEALER TO SEE IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY SIMILAR REPORTS. THEY REPORTED NONE.*AK

SIRS:WE HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2000 ACCORD EX FROM TIME OF PURCHASE THAT OUR DEALER, CROWN HONDA, HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE. THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THE CAR HAS A STUTTER WITHIN THE FIRST MILE DRIVEN WHEN STARTED. THE SECOND IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM.*AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT APPEARS ON DASHBOARD. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
AFTER BEING REAR ENDED, FRONT SEATS BROKE AND FELL BACKWARDS, LAYING ON BACK SEATS. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SEAT DID NOT SUPPORT THE PASSENGERS NECK OR BACK, THE SEAT WAS DIFFICULT TO FREE FROM TRAPPED OBJECTS THAT WERE ON THE BACK SEAT. *SLC

VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR 90,000 MAINTENANCE CHECK. UPON RECEIVING VEHICLE FROM DEALER TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING FLUID. TOOK BACK TO DEALER, DEALER STATED IN ORDER TO FIX LEAK TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT ON THE CAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES WHICH IS WAY TOO SOON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER AND HAD TO REPLACE THE EGR VALVE (COVERED UNDER WARRANTY). THE RIGHT HEADLAMP HAS BEEN REPLACED AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE OWNING THE CAR. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED FOR AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. THE FACTORY-INSTALLED CD PLAYER FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MILES. I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE HONDA, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN TOO PLEASED WITH ALL THE LITTLE NITPICKING STUFF. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE APPROXIMATELY 50000 MILE MARK. THE NEW TIRES WERE DUNLAPS WHICH FAILED WITHIN 8 MONTHS. HOPEFULLY THE NEW ONES WILL MAKE IT.*AK
THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO GO FASTER. THE CAR CONTINUED TO GAIN SPEED WHICH RESULTED WITH THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR GOING IN THE DITCH. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO AIRBORNE. WHEN THE CAR LANDED IT CONTINUED TO PLOW FORWARD FOR ANOTHER 20 FEET OR SO BEFORE STOPPING TWO FEET FROM ANOTHER DITCH. I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ENTIRE TIME WITH NO RESULTS. BOTH OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHICH CAUSED INJURY TO MY HAND AND ARM.*AK
THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. I ATTEMPTED PULLING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, PUTTING THE CAR IN FIRST GEAR, AND APPLYING THE BREAK WITH NO RESPONSE. THIS INCIDENT WAS RECORDED ON A 911 CALL THAT I MADE DURING THE ENTIRE EVENT. I DID GIVE DETAILS OF WHAT I WAS DOING TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ACCELERATING HOWEVER ALL MEASURES FAILED. I DID EVENTUALLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. HONDA IS NOW DENYING ANY MALFUCTION.*AK
SRS SYSTEM DETERMINED BAD BY HONDA DEALER 3 MONTHS AGO. ON 12/05/2001 SRS SYSTEM DETERMINED BAD BY HONDA DEALER FOR A SECOND TIME. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM WAS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME.*AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION IN 2001. WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO REVERSE IT JERKED ABRUPTLY. PROBLEM BECAME WORSE. VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN IN DRIVE. THIS OCCURRED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WA S DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER. THIS BECAME WORSE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR A WHILE. HESITATION OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, EVEN WHEN THE GEARS WERE NOT BEING CHANGED. DEALER WAS NEVER ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEREFORE, NO REPAIR WERE DONE. VEHICLE'S OWNER NOTICED WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID IN 2003. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. OWNER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES ,AND EVERY TIME THE DEALER RELIED ON THE COMPUTER TO FIND A PROBLEM. NONE WAS EVER FOUND.*AK
I BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND PROCEEDED THROUGH THE PARKING LOT AND TURNED LEFT ONTO BUSY ROAD. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO RE-START THE ENGINE AND MADE IT SAFELY TO MY NEXT STOP. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN IT STARTED BUT SHUT OFF RIGHT AWAY. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT STARTED WHEN IT GOT THERE AND THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE TYPE OF GAS I USED. THEY SAID THAT GAS STATIONS SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT TYPE OF FUEL IN THE FALL/WINTER AND THAT IT CAN CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN.*AKY

BOUGHT CAR IN APRIL,2000 SINCE THEN I'VE BROUGHT THIS CAR IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM 5 TIMES. NO SAFETY DEFECT MENTIONED. *AK
INSTALLED OPDS UNIT AND PAD SRS LIGHT ON THE CONTROL PANEL THAT ILLUMINATES WHEN AN AIR BAG HAS BEEN DISARMED OR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WENT TO DEALER WHO REPORTED THAT CUSTOMER NEEDED OPDS UNIT AND SENSOR. CAR IS 2000 HONDA ACCORD PARTS REPLACED WERE 1 81334-S87-A73 7639545-81334 OPDS UNIT 1 81127-S87-A82 6256754-81120 PAD,R-FR FOR A TOTAL CHARGE OF $722.03 AND$102.96 OLD PARTS ARE WITH THE DEALER. *NM
WHEN BRAKING OR WHILE STOPPING AT STOP LIGHT THE ENGINE RACES (RPMS IN RED ZONE). MUST SLAM ON BRAKES AND SHIFT INTO PARK TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM SURGING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS--THE FIRST IN DECEMBER AND THE MOST RECENT ONE WEEK AGO. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE IDENTICAL WITH THOSE REPORTED FOR THIS VEHICLE IN ODI ID 89408 AND ODI ID 882677. CAN YOU ADVISE HOW THOSE PROBLEMS WERE RESOLVED. AMERICAN HONDA ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAD HAD NO COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE, WHICH OBVIOUSLY IS NOT CORRECT.
I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED CAR FROM DUBLIN HONDA WITH A LITTLE OVER 7K MILES, AROUND THE 12TH OF AUGUST 2001. MY CAR STARTED STALLING WHILE DRIVING WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS BETWEEN 1/4-1/8 TANK. I ALSO NOTICED A BLACK FLAP HANGING UNDER MY CAR AND A LOT OF DUCT TAPE WRAPPED AROUND THE FRONT AXEL AND CAUGHT ON THE TIRES. IT TOOK THREE TRIPS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY FINALLY REMOVED THE FUEL TANK AND FOUND DAMAGE FUEL TANK DAMAGE AND DAMAGE UNDER FUEL PUMP. THEY SAID BUT DID NOT PUT IN WRITING THAT THERE WAS A PATCH ON AN AREA OF THE DAMAGE. THEY ASKED ME WHAT I HAD HIT, WHICH I HADN'T HIT AS THERE WAS A PATCH REPAIR IN THE AREA. I HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING. THEREFORE HONDA SOLD ME A CAR THAT WAS DAMAGED AND DID NOT REPORT THIS TO ME. WHAT I REALLY WANT IS HONDA TO REPLACE MY CAR WITH A NEW ONE. I KNOW THAT IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A DAMAGED CAR WITHOUT THE PURCHASERS NOTIFIED OF ANY DEFECTS, ETC. AND I WAS NOT. MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING 75 MILES AND HOUR ON A VERY BUSY FREEWAY AND THEREFORE I COULD NOT GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND HAD TOO MANY NEAR MISSES FROM OTHER CARS TO WANT TO REMEMBER. I THOUGHT AT WHAT POINT THAT I WAS GOING TO DIE OUT THERE. I COULD SEE THE HEADLINES. "HOSPICE NURSE DIES ON FREEWAY AFTER VISITING PATIENT." *JB
SEAT BELTS ON BOTH SIDES OF FRONT HAVE OPENED BY THEMSELVES AFTER SEEMING TO BE LATCHED; FIRST TIME WAS DRIVER'S SIDE, I TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER WHO "CLEANED" IT EVEN THOUGH I SAW NO DIRT, SEEMS TO BE WORKING; BUT NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE IS DOING THE SAME THING, OPENING BY ITSELF DURING DRIVING; AGAIN TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER, THEY OFFERED TO "CLEAN" IT AGAIN BUT I SAID NO, I DID NOT SEE ANY DIRT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IF SOMEONE HAD SPILLED A DRINK ON IT THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT WORK ANY MORE; I ADVISED NORTH AMERICAN HONDA (TINA AT 1-800-999-1009, EXT. 118088, CASE NUMBER N-012001-10-18-00512), THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE SEAT BELT WITH NEW ONE BUT OF SAME DESIGN AND I SAID NO. TO SUM UP, BELTS APPEAR TO BE LATCHED BUT ARE NOT, AND I DID NOT SEE ANY DIRT OR OTHER BARRIERS, AND FURTHERMORE EVEN IF SOMEONE DID ACTUALLY SPILL A DRINK I CANNOT IMAGINE THAT WOULD CAUSE A SEATBELT (TWICE NOW) TO FAIL TO STAY CLOSED. I AM CONVINCED THIS DESIGN IS NOT SAFE.*AK

THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHTS HAVE COME ON REPEATEDLY, THE DEALER IS AWARE AND REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE ON SPECIAL ORDER. NLM
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT SLIGHT INCLINE. CONSUMER OPENED TRUNK TO GET ITEM IN IT,AND TRUNK LID (EQUIPPED W/ HONDA ORIGINAL REAR WING SPOILER) FELL ON HIS FACE. RECEIVED FACE/ NOSE INJURY BADLY. *AK
THIS PROBLEM (SRS LIGHTS) STARTED WITHIN 12 MILES FROM DRIVING OFF THE DEALER LOT. WAS TOLD IT'S NORMAL-"FORGET ABOUT IT". THERE HAVE BEEN ONLY FLEETING DAYS BETWEEN THE CHRISTMAS LIGHT SHOW THE DASH LIGHTS PUT ON. IT DOES NOT INSTILL CONFIDENCE. POOR SERVIC E GUYS CAN'T FIX IT BECAUSE NOTHING WORKS. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE A CAR WITHOUT AIRBAGS . IF I WANTED A NON-AIRBAG EQUIPED CAR, I WOULD HAVE PAID LESS FOR ONE - AN OLD ONE MOST LIKELY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS A HONDA PRODUCT!!!! I*AK
ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK WHEN MY CAR WAS COLD. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPEN IS WAS PARRALLEL PARKING, THE CAR WAS COLD AND THE PEDAL STUCK ON OPEN THROTTLE.
I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY SRS DASHBOARD LIGHT SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2000. I HAD IT REPAIRED ONCE AND WAS REIMBURSED BY HONDA. THIS TIME I'M TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE $700 SRS CONTROLLER AND IS NOT COVERED. I'M TOLD THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WHILE THIS LIGHT IS ON. MINE, AND MANY OTHER 2000 ACCORDS HAVE HAD THIS SAFETY RELATED PROBLEM AND IT IS INEXCUSABLE THAT IT NOT BE COVERED BY RECALL/EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
EITHER ENGINE SIEZED (0W-20 OIL) OR INADVERTENT AIR BAG DEPOLYMENT. *AK
THE WIRES THAT CONNECT TO THE FUEL INJECTORS APPEAR TO HAVE THEIR INSULATION MELTED AWAY REVEALING THE COPPER WIRE. MULTIPLE INJECTOR WIRES ARE INVOLVED. THE INSULATION IS MISSING A THIRD OF THE CIRCUMFERANCE AND ABOUT 17MM IN LENGTH. I SUSPECT EXCESS ENGINE HEAT HAS CAUSED THIS DEFECT. THE DEFECT WAS ONLY SPOTTED WHEN THE PLASTIC ENGINE COVER WAS REMOVED DURING IN INSTALLATION OF A AFTERMARKET CRUISE CONTROL DEVICE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION AND CLOGGING. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 626561 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)). ON ONE OCCASION, A VEHICLE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED MODERATE INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

DEALER WAS WAITING TO HEAR FROM INSURANCE COMPANY. DEALER STATED THE AIRBAG DID EVERYTHING IT WAS SUPPOSE TO DO, NOT DEPLOY. WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE ON THE DAMAGES FROM THE APPRAISER/INSURANCE COMPANY. VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE ON THE HEADLIGHT AT AN ANGLE. THIS THREW THE VEHICLE INTO A DITCH ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE I-BEAM FROM THE FRAME CAN BE SEEN THRU THE BUMPER TO ILLUSTRATE THE IMPACT ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE POLICE AND THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR IMMEDIATELY POINTED OUT THAT THEY FELT THE DRIVER AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 5/7/01, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD A WORD FROM THEM SINCE. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THE CAR INSPECTED BY A PROFESSIONAL BEFORE ANYONE STARTS TAMPERING WITH THE VEHICLE.*AK

THE SRS WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. THE DIAGNOSIS DETERMINED THE FAULT WAS CAUSED BY LOW SYSTEM VOLTAGE EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TESTED TO OEM SPECS. NO PARTS WERE REPLACED. THE SERVICING DEALERSHIP (GILLMAN HONDA - HOUSTON) SAID THE FAULT IS DUE TO A MISDESIGN BY HONDA. THIS PROBLEM MAY PREVENT THE AIRBAGS FROM DEPLOYING (IF THE SRS FAULT LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AGAIN). A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED.*AK
