A LOUD, MECHANICAL "THUNK" IS HEARD WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO REVERSE - THE SOUND COMES AFTER THE CAR ROLLS BACK 2-3 FEET. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE PROBLEM IS "UNDER INVESTIGATION" BY HONDA AND THAT A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT MAY BE NECESSARY. THEY CAN DO NOTHING UNTIL HONDA FIGURES OUT HOW TO HANDLE IT. I ASSUME THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE ??? *AK
WITH THE CAR IS PUT INTO REVERSE GEAR, THIS CAUSES THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO MAKE A LOUD METAL TO METAL POPPING NOISE. *AK
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
IN A PERIOD OF 4 WEEKS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR REPAIRS TO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM, THE SRS ON THE DASHBROAD LIT UP INDICATING THAT A PROBLEM EXIST WITH THE SYSTEM, FIRST FOR THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THEN FOR THE AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. *CJ
MECHANICAL "CLUNK" WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. SOMETIMES ACCOMPANIED BY A NUDGE, LIKE NOT FULLY ENGAGED.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STROLLING IN REVERSE YOU CAN HEAR A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE/BANG AND MAY EVEN FEEL THE VEHICLE BEING LIFTED AN INCH OR SO AND DROP. NLM
TRANSMISSION VIBRATES IN THE 1000-2000 R.P.M. RANGE, AND MOST NOTICABLE AT 1200 AND 1800 RPM. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO EXHIBITS A RANDOM BUT VERY NOTICEABLE CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE.*AK
WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE AND STARTING BACK LOUD THUMP FROM UNDER THE CAR AND CAR JERKS THEN CONTINUES BACK. AT TIME THERE IS ANOTHER NOISE (QUITE) WHICH SOUNDS AS IF A 'WORM GEAR' IS WINDING UP OR DOWN. DEALER HAS STATED A TEC BULLENTIN IS OUT AND HONDA IS WORKING ON FIX, HOWEVER A CALL TO AMERICA HONDA'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS (1-800-999-1009) AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PORBLEM.*AK
WHEN IN REVERSE, THERE IS A BANG AFTER ROLLING FOR A FEW FEET. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME. *AK
CONSUMER IS 4FT 8IN TALL AND IS CONCERNED WITH HAZARD OF AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SINCE HE SITS CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. NLM
HONDA REPLACED THE CONVERTER AND TRANSMISSION, BUT THE CAR STILL VIBRATES SOMETIMES ON THE LEVEL BUT MOST OF THE TIME WHEN GOING UP HILL. I AM ALMOST READY TO TRADE THE CAR IN FOR A DIFFERENT MAKE. THE LOCAL MECHANICS CANT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO HELP. *AK

WHEN DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED VEHICLE SEVERELY PULLS TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER ALIGNED T VEHICLE WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, DEALER HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ACCELERATING VEHICLE HESITATED WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A COLLISION, CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND IS SOFT, THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED BUT THE CONDITION STILL EXIST. NLM
WHEN BACKING OUT AND PUTTING VEHICLE INTO GEAR, VEHICLE GRABBED BUT ONLY WHEN IN REVERSE. *AK
THE DESIGN OF THE DRIVERS SIDE TWO-WAY POWER SEATS SIT TOO HIGH UP IN THE "DOWN POSITION" CAUSING THE DRIVER'S RIGHT LEG TO SLAM AGAINST THE IGNITION AND STEERING DURING BRAKING.ET.
WHEN ON THE ROAD VEHICLE WANDERS. IT HAS NO NEUTRAL POINT. WHEN TRYING TO CORRECT IT, VEHICLE WANDERS TO THE OTHER SIDE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. ALSO, WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUES DOWN ITS FULL TRAVEL TO A MECHANICAL "CLUNK". MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT STILL OCCURS. *AK *ML
I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THE ACCORD I PURCHASED IS UNSAFE. THERE IS A HESITATION AT 40 MPH. I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE, AND THAT IF SOMEONE WERE FOLLOWING TO CLOSELY WHEN THE HESITATION OCCURS AND MY CARS SPEED DECREASES THEN I AM SUBJECT TO POSSIBLY BE REAR ENDED POTENTIALLY CAUSING MYSELF OR PASSENGERS TO BE INJURED. I WAS NEVER TOLD OF THIS SO CALLED NORMAL FUNCTION AS HONDA HAS STATED. I FEEL AS THOUGH I SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MISREPRESENTED, AND THAT I AT THAT TIME COULD HAVE OPTED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE. HONDA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING, I HAVE SPOKEN TO AND WRITTEN ABOUT THIS TO THEM. THANK YOU. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 00V184000/ SUSPENSION: LOWER CONTROL ARM APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER. BUT, DEALER STATED THAT PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER, AND HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF RECALL. *AK
NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG DURING FRONTAL AND REAR END COLLISION. NLM
SERVICE DEPARTMENT TESTED THE ACCURACY OF THE SPEEDOMETER UNIT AND FOUND IT TO BE OFF BY 8-10%
WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT INTO REVERSE IT ACCELERATES. DEALER HAS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *AK
THE COMPUTERIZED ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE UNDER CERTAIN ENGINE LOAD CONDITION. *YH
THE SRS LIGHT STAYS ON. NOT SURE IF AIRBAGS WILL WORK IN A COLLISION. DEALER WILL TRY TO FIX WITH NEW SRS CONTROL MODULES. SPEEDOMETER HEAD UNIT IS UP TO 13% OFF (DEPENDING ON SPEED) AND IS SOMEWHAT UNRESPONSIVE TO MINOR SPEED CHANGES. DISCONCERTING WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC SINCE I CAN'T VERIFY MY ACTUAL SPEED DUE TO THE SLOW TO RESPOND AND INACCURATE SPEEDOMETER UNIT READOUT. THIS LEADS TO OVERACCELERATING OR OVERDECCELERATING WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC IN AN ATTEMPT TO HOLD LOCAL SPEED ZONE LAWS. VERIFIED BY A PGM TEST AT LOCAL DEALER. NO FIX FOR THE SPEEDOMETER HEAD UNIT FOR NOW...TOLD BY HONDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS TO WAIT FOR A POSSIBLE FIX IN NOVEMBER 2000. THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING, NOT SURE WHY. FINALLY, WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC MANY TIMES WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND VERY QUICKLY OR EVEN FALLS FLAT FOR A SECOND BEFORE IT GOES, PRETTY DISCONCERTING AT TIMES, ESPECIALLY AT INTERSECTIONS.
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER NOTED THAT SENSOR WAS VERY SENSITIVE WHICH CAUSED THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, SENSOR WAS REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
SPEEDOMETER NOT ACCURATE WHEN SHOWING 80 MPH ACTUALLY 70 MPH
TRANSMISSION WHEN IN REVERSE JOLTED, CONSUMER STATED THAT IT FELT LIKE HE BACKED INTO SOMETHING OR ROLLED OVER AN OBJECT. HONDA SAID THEY HAD ABOUT 300 COMPLAINTS, ONLY V6 ENGINES. CONSUMER HAS BEEN TO DEALER A FEW TIMES WITH THE COMPLAINT. FINALLY CALLED HONDA WHO ADMITTED THE DEFECTIVE PROBLEM. *AK VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG LIGHT. *SLC
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2000, RECALL 00V184 000 FOR LOWER CONTROL ARM FAILURE WAS ISSUED. OWNER NOTIFICATION WAS ISSUED IN JULY OF 2000. *AK
TOTALLY I AM NOT SATISFY WITH THIS HONDA ACCORD/2DR/ V6. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED.
WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION REAR SEATBELT WILL TIGHTEN UP ON ITS OWN, CAUSING PAIN AND DISCOMFORT TO PASSENGERS. DEALER REFUSES TO INSPECT VEHICLE . TOLD CONSUMER SHE MUST CONTACT MANUFACTURER. *AK

STEERING SEEMS TO BE OVERLY TIGHT AND HARD TO TURN FOR POWER STEERING. NO PLAY AT ALL IN STEERING.*AK
SAME SYMPTOMS AS IN COMPLAINT #865280 IN YOUR DATABASE. CAR WANDERS, EXCESSIVE REACTION TO ROAD CROWN, NO CENTRAL POINT FOR STEERING STRAIGHT. DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. *AK
EXPERIENCING A THUMP AS THE INGITION IS RELEASED FROM THE START POSITION OR AS THE ENGINE STARTS.THIS NOISE OCCURS ONLY ON A COLD START,USUALLY OVERNIGHT. DEALER MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT THE NOISE APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT. HONDA HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN PERTAINING TO THIS NOISE,BUT THE DEALER MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT HNNDA'S SERVICE ENGINEERS TELLS HIM THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN PERTAINS TO THE HONDA 4CYL ONLY, AND NOT THE 6CYL IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THE 2000 HONDA 4CYL. SHOULD ALSO COVER THE 2000 HONDA 6CYL. IN CLOSING I MIGHT ADD THAT THIS SAME TYPE NOISE HAS ALSO BEEN HEARD IN THE HONDA 2001 6CYL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
