I HAVE PICTURES "IMAGES" FROM MY SMALL CAMERA TAKEN THE SAME DAY OF VEHICLE FIRE. THE VEHICLE APPEARED AS WELL TO BE MISSING AN "ENGINE CAP?" OF SOME SORT AFTER HAVING BEEN AT AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP FOR ABOUT A DAY.
THE HONDA ACCORD AFTER BEING RETURNED TO MYSELF, HAD AN ENTIRE BACK PORTION OF THE VEHICLE CATCH FIRE. IT TOOK ABOUT 8 COFFEE POTS FULL OF WATER TO DOUSE THE FLAME WITH BEFORE THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED IN THE CAR PORT NEAR THE SIDE OF MY HOME. THE WIRING THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE AFFECTS THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT REMAIN ON, WILL CRANK BUT CUTS OFF. HAVE REPLACED 4 SENSORS AND THE ALTERNATOR TWICE. ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE EFFECTED. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE CUT OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY.
SEAT WELDING LIKE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LISTED DID NOT HOLD UP. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A NOISE AND MY SEAT FELL BACK. I ALMOST CRASHED WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GRAB THE TOP HANDLE NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND PULL MYSELF BACK UP IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. CLEARLY THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE THAT IS A FREAK ACCIDENT. THE PARTS CLEARLY HAVE NOT BEEN WELDED PROPERLY AND IT IS AMAZING THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT BY THIS. HONDA SHOULD OFFER TO FIX EVERY ONE OF THESE SEATS. THE FACT THAT A DRIVERS SEAT WELD COULD FAIL IN THE MIST OF JUST SITTING AND DRIVING YOUR CAR IS SCARY.

THE SRS LIGHT IS ON AND THE AIRBAG LIGHTS CONE ON
"TAKATA RECALL" SRS LIGHT HAS REMAINED CONSISTENTLY ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SINCE 10/20/16. I WAS TOLD BY THE GARAGE THAT SERVICES MY CAR THAT I NEED TO HAVE MY AIRBAG REPLACED. THE LIGHT HAD COME ON AFTER I STARTED MY CAR, AND IT HAS NOT SHUT OFF SINCE.
AFTER A LONG TRIP OUT WEST WE NOTICED A NOISE IN THE FRONT END, WE HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID THE SUB FRAME ON RIGHT SIDE WAS RUSTED OUT. WE CONSIDER OURSELVES LUCKY NOTHING HAPPENED ON THE TRIP. FROM OHIO TO SOUTH DAKOTA.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM I BOUGHT THIS CAR ABOUT JULY 13 2016 TRANNY IS SLIPPING AND SOMETIME IT WILL IDOL VERY HI THAN IT JUMPS GEARS MY DAUGHTER DRIVE THIS CAR SHE IS NOW SCARED TO DRIVE SPOKE TO HONDA NOTHING THEY CAN DO EVEN THOUGHT THAY HAVE LOTS OF COMPLAINS FROM THAT THAT YEAR SPOKE TO THE DEALER HE WONT DO ANYTHING EITHER STATED HE WILL GIVE ME 1200 BACK WENT I BOUGHT IT FOR 3200 THAN STATED HE WILL FIX CAR BUR I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, A LOUD BANGING NOISE EMERGED FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHOOK AND VIBRATED. WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER, VIN, AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.
STRUCTURAL DESIGN FLAW RAPIDLY CORRODES FRONT SUBFRAME. VEHICLE FAILED STATE INSPECTION AFTER SIGNIFICANT CORROSION OF PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT SUBFRAME COMPROMISED STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. LOCALIZED CORROSION OCCURRING SUDDENLY DURING HOT SUMMER MONTHS ALMOST CERTAINLY RELATED TO FAULTY PLACEMENT OF AIR CONDITIONING DRAIN HOSE. MECHANIC RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE SUBFRAME, REPAIR COST QUOTED AT $1,700. VEHICLE DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE PENDING THIS NECESSARY STRUCTURAL REPAIR. CURRENT VEHICLE MILEAGE IS 123,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ONE DAY DOING OUR TYPICAL DAY TO DAY STUFF THEN THE TRANSMISSION @159000 MILES STARTS NOT SHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING OR WHEN IT SHIFT ITS VERY JERKY AND SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO REV OVER 5000 RPMS TO GET IT TO SHIFT AND D4 LIGHT STARTS FLASHING ON THE CITY STREETS WE GOT IT HOME I CHECK FLUIDS THEY WERE GOOD ADDED LIL EXTRA TRANNY FLUID TO BE SAFE BECAUSE IT WAS BELOW THE FIRST DOT ON DIPSTICK THEN WE DROVE FINE FOR A DAY THEN TODAY WE WENT TO AN APPT WE HAD GOT THERE OK THEN ON WAY BACK TO THE HOUSE THE CAR STARTS NOT UPSHIFTING OR DOWN SHIFTING NO MATTER HOW YOU ACCELERATE COMING FROM DEAD STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT IT REVS UP TO 5000 RPMS THEN JERKS INTO GEAR AND IT WENT BOOM 1 BOOM 2 BOOM 3 AND THEN THE CAR STARTS ROLLING THRU THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ONLY AT NOT ONLY 5 MPH THEN HITS 4TH GEAR THEN IT GOES SAFE ROAD SPEED I HAVE REVIEWED SEVERAL ONLINE WEBSITES LIKE THIS ONE HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/HONDA/ACCORD/2000/TRANSMISSION/ AND HONDA IS NOT REPLACING THEM OR FIXING WITHOUT CHARGING CLOSE TO 3K IN REPAIRS THIS CAR IS NOT WORTH THAT MONEY AND THEN WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANNY FOR ONLY HAVING IT MAYBE A MONTH I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR OR WANT MY FAMILY RIDING IN IT BECAUSE IF THAT TRANNY FAILS IN MIDDLE OF STREET THEN WE ARE GOING TO GET SANDWICHED OR CAUSE A BIG MESS AND WE DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. BEING A MILITARY MECHANIC OVER REVVING THE ENGINE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT IS NOT GOOD YOU CAN BLOW YOU ENGINE HONDA HAS NOT PUT ANY RECALLS OUT ON THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION
FRONT SUB-FRAME OR ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED AND BROKEN. ITS VERY UNUSUAL IN HONDA. MY WHOLE CAR WAS RUST FREE EXCEPT THAT PART. THERE ARE LOT OF CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

THE CONSUMER NEVER REFERENCED OWNING A 2001 HONDA CIVIC. HE STATED HE OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONSUMER STATED OLDER MODELS, WERE MYSTERIOUSLY MISSING FROM THE OFFICIAL HONDA RECALL LIST, WHICH ONLY GO BACK AS FAR AS JULY 2001. *JB

PAINT BUBBLES ON THE FRONT ROOF NEAR THE WINDSHIELD HAS RESULTED IN WINDSHIELD SEAL TO DISINTEGRATE AND LEAK WATER WHEN IT RAINS. CAN'T RUN THE CAR THROUGH CARWASH! EXPECT THE WATER LEAK TO DAMAGE INTERNAL ELECTRONICS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2000 HONDA ACCORD GOING ON TO 270 NORTH ALL OF A SUDDEN HIS HOOD CAME POPPING UP SMASHING HIS WINDSHIELD AND HE WAS LUCKY HE WAS IN THE LANE CLOSEST TO THE BRIM. HE COULD NOT SEE AND WAS LUCKY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OR AT THE SIDE OF HIM. THE POLICE OFFICER THAT ARRIVED ASKED US IF THIS WAS A 2000-2002 HONDA AND MY SON SAID YES. HE EXPLAINED TO US THIS IS THE 5TH HONDA VEHICLE IN A MONTH THAT THIS SAME THING OCCURRED. HIS DAUGHTERS SAME CAR AS MY SON DID THIS A MONTH AGO. HE RECOMMENDED TO ME TO EMAIL YOU AND LET YOU KNOW. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS AN ISSUE, AND IF THIS COLUMBUS OHIO POLICE OFFICER HAS SEEN 5 I WONDER WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON IN OTHER STATES. IGNITION SWITCH CONTACTS HAVE FAILED - CAUSING INTERMITTENT STALLING OF ENGINE.

SUBFRAME ROT CAUSED FROM THE AC DRAIN LINE. MY FRAME IS COMPLETELY ROTTED THROUGH AND BROKEN BECAUSE OF THIS. COULD'VE CAUSED A CRASH.

THE SUB FRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS RUSTED OUT. THE RUST IS BELOW THE AC DRAIN HOSE. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. THE DEALER GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $2200 FOR THE REPAIR. NO DAMAGE/RUST ON DRIVERS SIDE WHERE A/C DOES NOT DRAIN. THE MILEAGE IS 158,080. ALSO SEE SRS LIGHT.
TAKATA RECALL - I WAS CONTACTED LAST FALL BY HONDA MOTOR CORP ADVISING ME THAT MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD WAS PART OF THE TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD BY THEM THAT MY HONDA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I DID NOTHING MORE AT THAT TIME BUT AM BECOMING MORE CONCERNED AS I LEARN OF THE EXPANDED RECALLS BEING ANNOUNCED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT MY 2000 ACCORD IS VIRTUALLY THE SAME VEHICLE AS THE 2001 AND 2002 MODEL YEARS. WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE 2000 ACCORD FROM THE 2001 AND OTHER MODEL YEARS THAT WOULD EXCLUDE MY MODEL YEAR FROM THE RECALL? AND, WHY WOULD HONDA MOTORS NOTIFY ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THEN LATER BE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS NOT? I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET AN ANSWER TO EITHER OF THESE QUESTIONS FROM MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN CONTACTING HONDA MOTORS FOR A RESPONSE. PLEASE HELP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
SUBFRAME/CRADLE RUSTED THROUGH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DUE TO MANUFACTURERS ROUTING OF AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSATION ONTO SUBFRAME. NO DAMAGE/RUST ON DRIVERS SIDE WHERE A/C DOES NOT DRAIN. AROUND $400 IN PARTS AND OVER $700 IN WORK.
JUST PURCHASED A 2000 ACCORD ON SAT 8-22-15. BODY LOOKS GREAT,RUNS SHIFTS GREAT,BUT WHEN ATTEMPTING OIL CHANGE I REALIZED PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY GONE. YES,GONE. IT'S MISSING @4 INCHES OF METAL WHICH HAS OBVIOUSLY RUSTED AWAY,WITH SURROUNDING METAL RUSTED. DRIVER SIDE LOOKS PERFECT. SAME PART,TWO DIFFERENT PLACES,ACTING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
THE A/C DRAIN DRIPS ON THE ENGINE FRAME BEAM / CROSS MEMBER CAUSING THEM TO RUST. THEY ARE NOW BROKEN IN TWO. LATER MODELS WERE SUPPLIED WITH A DRAIN TUBE TO RE-ROUTE THE CONDENSATION AWAY FROM THE BEAMS ELIMINATING THIS CONCERN.
CAR FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO CORRODED SUBFRAME ON RIGHT HAND SIDE FRONT PASSENGER AREA. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF COMPONENT FAILED.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 223,000.
THE ARM BROKE INTO ON MY CAR. THE WELDING WAS BAD. ALSO THE CLEAR COAT LOOK AWFUL, IT WAS PAINTED CHEAPLY AND , IT A EYE SORE. I JUST WANT IT FIXED . I LOVE MY CAR, BUT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH RECALLS.
CLICKING NOISE WAS COMING FROM FRONT SUSPENSION AREA. CAR WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME. AS A RESULT, THE SUBFRAME FRACTURED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE FRONT SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURIES/DEATH. CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA ON 7-15-15 TO GET A GOODWILL REPAIR SINCE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS AS A RESULT OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT. AMAL, THE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE PRODUCT CONCERNS DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT IS HONDA'S POLICY NOT TO ISSUE GOODWILL SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IS 15 YEARS OLD. HONDA - NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD BRAND NEW CARS!!! YOUR REPUTATION HAS BEEN TO PRODUCE SAFE, DEPENDABLE VEHICLES, BUT YOUR LACK OF ACTUAL "CUSTOMER SUPPORT" SHOWS OTHERWISE. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT IN 2012 THIS ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO THE PUBLIC'S ATTENTION INCLUDING THE SAFETY REGULATORS, HTTP://WWW.NEWSNET5.COM/NEWS/LOCAL-NEWS/INVESTIGATIONS/CENTER-FOR-AUTO-SAFETY-REQUESTING-RECALL-OF-1-5-MILLION-HONDA-ACCORDS-FOR-RUST-ISSUE-IN-SUB-FRAME. I URGE NHTSA TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPRESENT US CONSUMERS BY HAVING HONDA ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ASAP BEFORE PEOPLE GET HURT AND WE HAVE ANOTHER FIASCO, I.E., GM IGNITION, TAKATA AIRBAGS.
MY 2000 HONDA SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN 2010, RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SINCE THEN IT HAS DONE IT ABOUT 10 TIMES, A FEW TIMES WHEN COLD STARTING BUT USUALLY IN SUMMER WHEN AIR TEMPERATURE IS VERY HOT. MY MECHANIC HAS KEPT IT OVER A WEEKEND TO SEE IF HE COULD GET THE CAR TO FAIL STARTING, BUT NO LUCK. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE IT ON A LONG TRIP EVEN THOUGH IT HAS ONLY 129,300 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME. AS A RESULT, THE SUBFRAME FRACTURED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE FRONT SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME RUSTED TO THE POINT OF BEING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE ISSUE IS CLAIMED TO BE DUE TO WATER DRAINING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER ONTO THE SUBFRAME SECTION WHERE THE SWAY BAR MOUNTS. THE DRIVERS SIDE IS FINE WITHOUT RUST. THE RUST IS VERY BAD AT THIS POINT AND HAS BROKEN THROUGH. THE REST OF THE SUBFRAME AWAY FROM THIS AREA IS FINE WITHOUT RUST OR SURFACE RUST WHICH CAN BE BRUSHED OFF TO EXPOSE GREY METAL IN GOOD SHAPE. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM I.E. RUSTED SUBFRAME UNDER THE AC DRAIN HOLE.
RECENTLY PURCHASED 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX AND BROUGHT IT TO AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION HE FOUND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE F THE ENGINE SUB FRAME ROTTED OUT AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CAUSE WAS FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING DRAIN PIPE PLACEMENT.
AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE IN "REVERSE" TO GET INTO A STALL PARKING SPACE ON THE STREET, IT WAS SHIFTED INTO "DRIVE". WHILE BEING IN "DRIVE" AND TAPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WENT IN "REVERSE" UNCONTROLLABLY. THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID REVERSING INTO A WALL, THE VEHICLE TURNED AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE IMPACT POTENTIALLY INJURED A WOMEN THAT WAS STANDING BEHIND THE IMPACTED VEHICLE TALKING WITH SOMEONE.

WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN HEARD CLUNK FROM PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL. JACKED UP CAR, PULLED WHEEL AND FOUND SUB FRAME HAD ROTTED THROUGH. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS CONDITION, AS THE CAR COULD HAVE LOST STEERING CONTROL AND HAVE BEEN IN/CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A 2000 ACCORD AND HAVE SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND MANY OTHER ACCORD VEHICLES ( 1999-2002) WITH THE SAME CONDITION. HONDA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND REPLACE THE SUB FRAMES ON THE AFFECTED ACCORD VEHICLES.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE OCCUPANT POSITION DETECTION SENSOR AND THE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
