MY SRS LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THAT DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROADWAY WHEN THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT A TRAIL OF OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN THE COMPARTMENT OF THE TIMING BELT . THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. UPDATED 05/12/14 MA *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE AC DRAINING VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT 'S RESIDENCE, AND HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,656.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, THROUGH THIS LETTER, I WISH TO INFORM YOU OF MY DISAGREEMENT WITH THE EVALUATION OF THE AIR BAGS IN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY TO PROTECT ME. WHEN I ADDRESSED MY CONCERN TO THE DALTON AGENCY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER, MANUEL PEZ NAVARRO AND THE HEAD OF MECHANICS, JORGE CARDENAS ONLY DO OIL CHANGE AND FILTERS. THEY ADVISED IF I WANTED TO KNOW WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY, THAT I SHOULD PAY A TECHNICIAN $600.00 PESOS TO CONNECT A SCANNER TO MY CAR TO SEE IF THERE IS AN ERROR IN THE SYSTEM, AN ERROR THAT MAY HAVE BEEN THERE FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN THE CAR WAS ASSEMBLED. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THE FACTORY INVOICE FOR MY AUTO SPECIFIES THAT IT HAS AIR BAGS AT THE HIGHEST SECURITY LEVEL. THAT IS WHY I?VE TAKEN MY CAR TO BE SERVICE REGULARLY AT THE DALTON AGENCY TO KEEP ALL WARRANTIES IN PLACE. I PLACED MY TRUST IN THE AGENCY, IN THE HONDA COMPANY AND IN THE GLOBAL BRAND AND FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN MISLED ABOUT SERVICE AND QUALITY. I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED BY THE LACK OF CONCERN FROM INDIVIDUAL LIVES. THE TRAUMA, INJURY AND REHABILITATION AFTER THE ACCIDENT HAS BEEN TERRIBLE, LEAST HAVING TO DEAL WITH YOU HAS CAUSED UNNECESSARY FRUSTRATION AND FEAR. KNOWING THAT THE AIR BAG SITUATION HAS BEEN CALLED A SIMPLE MISTAKE OR ACCIDENT DOES NOT HELP MY DILEMMA. LUCKILY I AM ALIVE TODAY, BUT A FEW CENTIMETERS COULD HAVE MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE AND CAUSED A TRAGIC STORY. IT IS POSSIBLE TO TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND REMOVE THE KEY WITHOUT SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO PARK. *TR
VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP. THE IS AN INCONSISTENT PROBLEM, BUT IT CONTINUES TO BE MORE FREQUENT. THE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING, THEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, THEY MAY OR MAY NOT LIGHT BACK UP. WAS INFORMED BY A MECHANIC THAT A BULLETIN WAS ISSUED THAT THIS WAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH HONDAS. A LETTER WAS SENT TO HONDA ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. *JS
AFTER GOING FOR A SHORT DRIVE MY CAR WILL NOT RESTART. FOUND OUT THAT THE PCM IS DEFECTIVE. THE COMPUTER MODULE NEED TO BE REPLACED. NON ARE AVAILABLE. THEY ARE DISCONTINUED.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT OFF AND KEPT DOING THAT FOR QUITE A WHILE. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN CONNECTICUT IN 2000, BUT NOW LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO HONDA IN MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA BUT THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHY THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. MY OIL LIGHT ALSO COMES ONCE IN A WHILE THEN GOES OFF. THEY CHECKED THAT TOO (CHARGED ME OVER $60.00) AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH OVER A ROAD BUMP, THE FRONT FRAME BECAME FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO INSPECTED THE PROBLEM AND STATED THAT THE WATER FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING HOSE LEAKED ONTO THE FRAME AND AS A RESULT, THE FRAME HAD BECOME SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION FAILURE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND THE THREE OCCUPANTS OF THE SECOND VEHICLE SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 179,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DASHBOARD LIGHT GO OUT WITHOUT NOTICE AND THEY TURN BACK ON AT TIMES. UNABLE TO SEE AT NIGHT THE SPEEDOMETER. GEARS IN CAR JERK WHILE DRIVING AT ALL TIMES FROM GEAR TO GEAR, SIGNS OF SAND LIKE METAL RESIDUE IN TRANSMISSION FLUID WHEN CHANGED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO AND DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL IT BECAME WORSE AND I BEGAN TO RESEARCH THE POSSIBLE ISSUES. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING ONE NIGHT, THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING STRANGE NOISES AND IT WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED AFTER BRAKING OR HALTING AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND INSPECTED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THERE WAS KNOWN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL.
2000 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE AIR BAG PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG EXPLODED LAST SUMMER, WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT DID NOT INFLATE. THE DEALER REPLACED A SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE CONSUMER STATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, A SIMILAR SENSOR WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2013. *JB
I FEAR MY VEHICLE IS BEING DENIED A RECALL DUE TO IT BY HONDA. MY VEHICLE FAILED ITS ANNUAL EMISSIONS TEST ON AUG. 22. THE STATE SENT ME A NOTICE INFORMING ME THAT MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD WAS PART OF A RECALL CLASS IN 2004 THAT WAS CONNECTED TO AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM. I RECEIVED NO ALERT FROM HONDA ABOUT SUCH A RECALL. WHEN I ASKED HONDA ABOUT IT THIS WEEK, THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL CLASS. AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY COULD DETERMINE THIS BY MY CAR'S VIN -- THAT THE VIN INDICATED IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL CLASS. SO I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP TO DETERMINE IF MY VEHICLE IS PART OF THE RECALL. RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2000 HONDA ACCORD IN GREAT CONDITION. UPON INSPECTION NOTICED THAT THERE THE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSS MEMBER/SUBFRAME WAS ROTTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS ONLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCHING ONLINE HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS ABOUT THE AC UNIT LEAKING AND ROTTING OUT THAT PART OF THE SUB FRAME. *TR
I BOUGHT A HONDA ACCORD WITH 162,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS TOLD ALL IT NEEDED WAS BRAKES AND ROTORS. WHEN I WAS REPLACING THE BRAKES AND ROTOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE I INSPECTED ALL OTHER PARTS AS WELL AND THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THE BIG PROBLEM. THE SUB FRAME WAS ROTTED OUT. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND THAT HONDA RECOGNIZES THIS BUT FAILS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE AIR CONDITION DRAIN IS POSITIONED SO THAT IT IS CONSTANTLY DRIPPING ON TO THAT PART OF THE SUB FRAME. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND I WAS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL I HAD THE PART REPLACED. I RESEARCHED THE PRICE AND LABOR FOR THE PART : PART: $600+ HONDA GARAGE. LABOR: $500+ HONDA GARAGE. HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AS OTHER HONORABLE COMPANIES HAVE. *TR

I WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 35 MPH DRIVING MY HONDA ACCORD 2000 V6 ON JULY 13, 2013 APPROXIMATELY @ 2.00 PM EST. I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN INCREASING THE SPEED TO APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. SHOCKED BY THE RANDOM ACCELERATION, I APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AFTER STOMPING ON THE PEDAL IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK . THEREFORE IN ORDER TO AVOID GOING TOWARDS THE TRAFFIC I DECIDED TO DRIVE INTO THE WOODS ON TO MY RIGHT SIDE. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP INSIDE A WOODED AREA 45 YARDS FROM THE EDGE OF THE RIGHT LANE KNOCKING OFF ALL THE TREES ON ITS WAY. IT DEPLOYED BOTH AIRBAGS IN THE FRONT. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DAMAGED ( TOTALED). THERE WAS NO INJURIES TO ME OR ANY OTHERS IN THIS CRASH. I FIRMLY BELIEVE & SUSPECT THERE WAS SOME MALFUNCTION IN THE VEHICLE'S SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM THAT RESULTED IN THIS MISHAP. I'VE CALLED BEFORE, LET IT RING FOR UP TO 20 MINUTES, WITH NO KIND OF PICK UP.I WAS GOING TO BUY THE MENTIONED VEHICLE FROM ROSS AUTO, AT 590 28TH ST SE, 49509 . I TOOK THE CAR TO RIVERTOWN HONDA IN GRANDVILLE, MI , KENOWA SW, 49509 FOR INSPECTION. ROSS'S CLAIMS CAR HAS 20,000 ACTUAL MILES. I BROUGHT IT BACK,QUITE LIVID WITH THE LIES. HE TOLD ME TO GIVE HIM CARFAX IN MY HAND, I SAID I WOULD FOR THE $35 FEE. HE FREAKED OUT,SAID THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME FOR BEING UPSET ABOUT THEIR LIES.I TOLD HIM TO GET THE CAR OFF THE LOT.THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY,DROVE TO ROSS', CAR STILL THERE. WE JUST GOT IN THE CAR AFTER VALET PARKING RETURNED IT TO US. AFTER THE FIRST BRAKE APPLICATION AT ABOUT 20 MPH THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. WE FOUND A PARKING SPACE AND CALLED FOR A TOW TO OUR HONDA DEALER. THE DEALER CALLED LATER TO SAY THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THIS CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED AT THIS DEALER SINCE NEW AND HAD JUST HAD THE REQUIRED 150,000 MILE INSPECTION WITH NO MENTION OF A PROBLEM. IN 61 YEARS OF AUTOMOBILE OWNERSHIP, I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A PROBLEM. I THINK THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE SUCH AS A LEAKY BRAKE CYLINDER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHO STATED THE MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V256000 (INTERIOR LIGHTING) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2000 V6 HONDA ACCORD DIED WITHOUT WARNING AT A STOPLIGHT AND SINCE THEN IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT OVER SHORTER AND SHORTER TIME PERIODS/DISTANCES. DURING THE FIRST FEW SEVERAL OCCURRENCES LIKE THIS IT JUST DIED EITHER WHILE STOPPED OR WHILE RUNNING BUT COULD BE RE-STARTED BY PUTTING CAR INTO PARK GEAR AND RE-STARTING. NO WARNING, NO SPUTTERING, NO SHAKING AND SO ON PRIOR TO ANY OF THE DYING. THE ONLY INDICATION IT HAS DIED IS THE DASH PANEL INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD ALL BE ON AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS JUST BEING STARTED. DURING RE-START THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS WOULD BE LIT LIKE THEY SHOULD BE JUST PRIOR TO STARTING. NOW AS OF YESTERDAY THE PATTERN HAS CHANGED TO STILL DIES AND THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS COME ON BUT WHEN YOU SHIFT TO PARK AND THEN TRY TO RE-START NONE OF THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS COME ON AND ALL YOU HEAR IS THE CRANKING OF THE ENGINE BUT NOT STARTING. EVENTUALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES (1-5 MINUTES) OF BEING OFF YOU COULD THEN RE-START THE CAR AND THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS WOULD LIGHT UP PRIOR TO THE RE-START LIKE THEY SHOULD. UNFORTUNATELY TOWARD THE END OF YESTERDAY THAT PATTERN AGAIN CHANGED TO WHERE THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON DURING THE ATTEMPT TO RE-START EVEN AFTER 40 MINUTES. I CALLED HONDA ON 06/18/2013 AND SPOKE TO AN AGENT AND TOLD HER THAT I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL FOR DEALING WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH UNDER RECALL#:36754 IN THE USA AND ALSO ANOTHER IN CANADA FOR THE IDENTICAL ISSUE MY ACCORD IS DEMONSTRATING. HONDA SEEMS TO WANT TO HID BEHIND THE IDEA THAT IF MY VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL THEN I AM OUT OF LUCK. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING DRIVING CONDITION THE CAR DIES WHILE MOVING WITHOUT WARNING. I AM SURE THEY ARE OTHER OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE (WEB IS FULL OF OWNERS DECREEING THIS ISSUE) THAT HAVE JUST HAD CAR REPAIRED BUT NEVER FILED REPORT HERE TO BRING ISSUE TO YOUR ORGANIZATION'S ATTENTION. *TR

THIS ISSUE RELATED TO AIR BAG AND SHOULD BE FIXED SINCE IT IS A BASIC SAFETY ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED. BOTH HONDA AND DEALER DULLES HONDA ARE REFUSED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS BASIC SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER IF AIR BAG DOES NOT DEPLOY. *TR
HEARD SOME STRANGE NOISES AND TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC. THEY REPORTED THAT THE REAR BEAM HAD RUSTED THROUGH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND TOLD ME IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW COMMON TO THAT YEAR ACCORD. EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHICH HONDA IS REFUSING TO REPAIR/REPLACE. I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPACE AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 45 MINS (APPROX. 20 MILES). WHEN I WAS READY PARK THE CAR AND SWITCH OFF THE IGNITION, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WAY TOO FAST AND HIT THE BUILDING IN FRONT. I WAS DRIVING INTO THE PARKING SPACE AT LESS THAN AROUND 10 MPH AS I HAD TO MAKE 3 TURNS WITHIN 100 FEET BEFORE COMING INTO VACANT PARKING SPACE. MY LEG WAS ALSO IN THE BREAK PEDAL AS I MADE THOSE TURNS AFTER GETTING INTO THE PRIVATE PROPERTY FROM IL RTE 83. I CAN DEFINITELY CONFIRM THAT MY LEG WAS NOT IN GAS PEDAL AS MY RIGHT LEG WAS ON THE BREAK PEDAL TO MAKE THOSE TURNS AND STOP THE CAR IN THE PARKING SPACE. IT ALL HAPPENED IN THE MATTER OF FEW SECONDS AND THERE WAS NO TIME TO REACT. THE CAR CAME TO HALT ONLY AFTER HITTING THE BUILDING. BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AS SOON AS THE CAR HIT THE BUILDING AND THERE WAS HEAVE SMOKE INSIDE THE CAR. IT WAS REALLY SCARY BECAUSE BY LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE THE SPEED AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT LOOKS TO BE AROUND 50 MPH. ON NOVEMBER 26, 2012 MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ON SINCE. THIS VEHICLE THOUGH IT IS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD HAS ONLY 66,200 ORIGINAL MILES WILL COST ABOUT $800-$900 TO REPAIR. THIS IS AN ISSUE WHICH INVOLVES THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND ANY PASSENGERS. I AM TOLD IT COULD BE A POSSIBLE DANGER IF THE AIRBAG DOES NOT DEPLOY IN ANY ACCIDENT. I CHECKED THE OTHER SIDE TO SEE IF IT WAS ALSO RUSTED AND BROKEN BUT TO MY SURPRISE THERE WAS BARELY ANY RUST ON IT. I WENT ONTO THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE SUB-FRAME OF MY ACCORD THAT BROKE AND THAT I WAS ONE OF MANY PEOPLE THIS EXACT SITUATION HAS HAPPENED TO. I AM EXTREMELY RELIEVED THAT NEITHER MY FRIEND OR I WERE INJURED WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND THAT IT DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC. AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING AND ALL LIGHTS ON HVAC CONTROL PANEL WENT OUT. A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE FILLED PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB BECAME WARM AND LOOSE. THE PLASTIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB CAME OFF AND I BURNED MYSELF ON THE METAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL SHAFT WHICH THE KNOB ATTACHES TO. THE METAL TEMPERATURE EASILY EXCEEDED 300 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. ONCE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND COOLED DOWN I REMOVED THE HVAC CONTROL PANEL FROM THE DASH. THE PLASTIC IS MELTED WHERE THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB IS AND ON THE INSIDE OF THE CONTROL PANEL. I REMOVED THE CIRCUIT BOARD FROM THE CONTROL PANEL AND IT SMELLS LIKE BURNED ELECTRONICS. THE CIRCUIT BOARD HAS BROWN BURN MARKS AND BUBBLING ON THE BOARD ITSELF. THE ENTIRE HVAC CONTROL UNIT WILL HAVE TO REPLACED AT THE COST OF $200-$300. *TR

THE DRIVER SIDE WAS FINE. I SPENT OVER $1,400 TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED ONLY TO SEE A REPORT ON THE NEWS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A BADLY PLACED DRAIN OFF FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING. I THINK THE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THOSE WHO HAVE HAD THE SUBFRAME REPAIRED ALREADY SHOULD BE REIMBURSED. *TR
