I OWN A 2000 HONDA ACCORD THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW. THE CAR HAS BEEN SHUTTING DOWN WHILE I AM ON THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. ALSO WHEN I PULL OVER THE ENGINE WILL START IMMEDIATELY, BUT NOW IT IS HARD TO START AND WILL STALL IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING IT. I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALER ON 6/7/11. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY CAR UNTIL JUNE 9, 2011, BUT SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT NOBODY HAS BEEN BEHIND ME WHEN THE CAR HAS DIED. I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN ON 6/18/11 AND SPOKE WITH ANITA, WHO MADE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS CRAZY. SHE SAID THEY WOULD HAVE CHECKED FOR ANY OPEN RECALLS. I LOOKED ON LINE AND I FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR OTHER HONDA OWNERS. MY CAR HAS 103,000 MILES, AND THIS STARTED HAPPENING IN FEBRUARY, BUT IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT YOU INVESTIGATED THIS UNDER CAMPAIGN NUMBER 02V120000 BUT I DIDNT SEE THAT 2000 ACCORDS WERE INCLUDED IN THIS. 2000 HONDA ACCORD RECEIVED TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. CONSUMER STATES TWO MONTHS AFTER THE REPLACEMENT SHE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE GEARS WOULD SLIP AND GRIND UPON ACCELERATING FROM A STOP POSITION AND WHILE DRIVING. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THE CONTACT REMOVED PRESSURE FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN TWICE. THE CONTACT COULD ALSO HEAR A GRINDING SOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND STATED THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS.

MY DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT AND MY TAIL LIGHTS AND SIGNAL LIGHTS, BUT MY HEADLIGHTS WERE STILL WORKING. THE RECALL INCLUDES ONLY SOME 2000 HONDA ACCORD MODELS, AND NOT ALL OF THEM. LIKE THE ONES IN THE FORUM LISTED I MYSELF WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.

UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE, THE HORN WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO 'OVERHEAT'. THE CAR WILL START AND GO FINE WHEN COLD BUT WHEN THE ENGINE GETS HOT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS BADLY. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING HARD FOR QUITE SOME TIME. TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHECKED AT REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS BEEN REPLACED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER'S MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. ON 4/24/11 TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHILE MERGING ON A BUSY ROAD, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSIONS HAS BEGAN TO SLIP ON MARCH 28,2011 AS I WAS MAKING A DELIVERY FOR MY JOB TRAVELING UPHILL ,I GOT A COUPLE OF READINGS FROM A MECHANIC WHICH WAS CODES P730,P740,&P780 IT HASN'T STOPPED AND CONTINUES TO SLIP AS I DRIVE AT ANY SPEED & SLIPS EVERYTIME I DRIVE.I HAD A MECHANIC CLEAN THE SOLENOIDS AND DO A TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH FOR $200.00,I ALSO ADDED LUCAS TRANSMISSION SLIP STOP AND PROBLEM STILL OCCUR.I GOT AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR FOR THE TRANSMISSION FOR $3000.00. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL DECREASED TO ZERO INCLUDING THE ENGINE SPEED, FUEL LEVEL, WATER TEMPERATURE, AND TRIP ODOMETER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER SINCE THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,250. UPDATED 04/11/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FAILED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED. UPDATED 04/13/11
BOUGHT THIS ACCORD FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER BECAUSE IS WAS A SAFE RELIABLE CAR TO START WITH. IT WAS IMPECCABLY MAINTAINED BY THE DEALER. SHE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS STARTING TO "JERK" WHEN DRIVING IT. I CONFIRMED IT WAS "JERKING". I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT HONDA HAS HAD SIGNIFICANT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL AND SEVERAL. NOW I'M LOOKING AT A SIGNIFICANT REPAIR OR PROBABLY REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WILL REQUIRE A NEW TRANSMISSION WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT. *TR
THIS IS A REPORT OF AN INCIDENT OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE WHICH IS RELATED TO AN ACCIDENT WHICH OCCURRED ON MARCH 9, 2011. THE VEHICLE INVOLVED IS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD SE. THE DRIVER WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE WHEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR STARTED TO MOVE BACKWARD VERY FAST. THE DRIVER STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL BUT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO DRIVE AND LURCHED FORWARD AT A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED UNCONTROLLABLY ACROSS THE SIDEWALK, THREE(3) LANES OF TRAFFIC, THROUGH A LAWN WHERE IT FIRST STRUCK A BRICK BUILDING, REMOVED A 30-INCH LANDSCAPE BOULDER, AND THEN STRUCK A SECOND BUILDING WHICH STOPPED IT, TRAVELING OVER 200 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A HALT IN A PUBLIC ALLEY. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED IN ONLY A FEW SECONDS AND THE DRIVER COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE BRAKES DID NOT HELP. IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT THE DRIVER WAS NOT HIT OR KILLED GOING ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS INCIDENT BE INVESTIGATED

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHO INSPECTED AND STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT SENSOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAD FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE SEAT BELTS COULD BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP SIGNAL AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED WITH VERY LITTLE RESPONSE. AFTER FORCEFULLY ENGAGING THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR REPEATEDLY, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETECT THE PROBLEM AND RESUMED WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE FAULTY AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,395.
RECENTLY TOOK A 2000 ACCORD SE TO HONDA DEALER FOR TRADE IN. THE DEALERSHIP PUT THE CAR ON THE HOIST FOR INSPECTION BEFORE DETERMINING A TRADE IN PRICE. ONE OF THE FIRST PLACES THAT THE MECHANIC LOOKED WAS AT THE FRAME AND FRONT SUSPENSION ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY IT WAS FOUND THAT OVER HALF THE WIDTH OF THE FRONT CROSS BEAM WAS WASTED AWAY, AND WAS IN DANGER OF BREAKING OFF AT ANY TIME. BOTH THE MECHANIC AND SALESMAN AGREED, THIS WAS A PROBLEM THEY HAD SEEN MANY TIMES ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT YEARS OF THIS MODEL. THE ROTTING OF THE BEAM WAS APPARENTLY CAUSED BY CONDENSATE DRIPPING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN, WHICH WAS LOCATED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE BEAM. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN SUCH A PROBLEM, THE DRAINS HAD BEEN MOVED TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION ON THE NEXT GENERATION. THE ESTIMATE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WAS $1300.00. OTHER THAN THAT, THE CAR WAS DEEMED TO BE IN EXCELLENT RE-SALE CONDITION. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V256000 (INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE PCM AND THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
TRANSMISSION HAS BEGUN SLIPPING, JERKING BADLY. WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP, NOTICEABLE JERK OF TRANSMISSION. WHEN STARTING FROM FULL STOP, SIGNIFICANT DRAG, THEN THUMP AS TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. *TR
2000 HONDA ACCORD BRAKE LINE CORRODED LEADING TO TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP BY IF I WAS GOING ANY FASTER IT WOULD HAVE LEAD TO A CRASH AND POSSIBLY INJURY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE DROVE THROUGH A STOP SIGN AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT TIGHTENED AROUND THE CONTACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 869,900.
I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT IT IN REVERSE IN A PARKING GARAGE AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE GARAGE. THE CAR ACCELERATED WHILE I WAS IN REVERSE, SLAMMING INTO TWO PARKED VEHICLES. THE CAR THEN ACCELERATED FORWARD, SLAMMING INTO A CONCRETE COLUMN AND COMING TO A REST. I ATTEMPTED TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. IT FELT LIKE MY ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK RATHER THAN A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES.
I WAS TRAVELING IN REVERSE FOR APPROXIMATELY 50 YARDS AT A SPEED OF UNDER 5 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. MY PASSENGER WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR IDLED AT A HIGH RPM FOR 2-3 SECONDS AFTER IT STOPPED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SITUATION ON 4 OR 5 PRIOR OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE BACKING. THE LAST TIME I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS IN SEPT. 2006; A DEALER MECHANICAL INSPECTION AT THAT TIME CHECKED THE TCM/PCM FOR DTC AND FOUND NO STORED CODES. *TR
SRS IN 2000 HONDA ACCORD IS ON. ADVISED IT IS THE OPDS SENSOR, AND OPDS UNIT. RECALLS ON SIMILAR MODELS, BUT NOT MY VIN #. AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE FROM THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE PARK POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR, BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 05V025000 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 164,200.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH INTERLOCK FAILED; THE KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND REMOVED THE KEY. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED DOWN A HILL INTO SOME BUSHES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 05V025000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: SWITCH). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 120,000.

HEADLAMPS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH AT NIGHT... SOMETIMES THE CAR WON,T START. I LET IT SIT A WHILE, THEN IT STARTS. THIS IS USUALLY IN THE SUMMER. BEFORE I TURN OFF THE IGNITION, I TURN OFF ALL THE BLOWERS. (AIR) THAT SEEMS TO WORK. THE WINDOWS FOG UP WHEN IT IS HUMID AND THE BLOWERS WON'T CLEAR THEM.
THE SRS LIGHT HAS GONE OFF APPROXIMATELY ONCE A YEAR FOR APPROXIMATELY THE LAST 5 YEARS. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN CAUSED BY A SENSOR IN THE SEAT BELT, WHICH IS COVERED BY WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE DEALER ALWAYS TRIES TO CHARGE A DIAGNOSIS FEE TO DETERMINE IF IT IS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE EVERY TIME THE LIGHT GOES OFF. IT IS ALSO A HUGE INCONVENIENCE. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION. EACH TIME IT HAPPENS THE SEATBELT SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS ARE FREQUENTLY NOT WORKING. *LN
I HAVE HAD MY TRANSMISSION GO OUT TWICE IN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD. EACH TIME, THE GEARS START CLUNKING WHILE SHIFTING AND SHORTLY AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AND IS COMPLETELY USELESS. CURRENTLY, MY CAR WILL REV UP LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL AND THEN SPONTANEOUSLY SLAM INTO GEAR AND SLIP BACK INTO NEUTRAL AGAIN WHICH HAS, AGAIN, RUINED THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO MAKE THE ISSUE BETTER. *TR
I HAVE HONDA V6 2000 ACCORD AND I AM GETTING P0740 AND P0730 ERROR CODES. I DID CHANGE MY TRANSMISSION OIL RECENTLY WITH HONDA ATF. FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD IT NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION. CAR ACTS VERY UNSAFE AND IT JERKS A LOT. WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED DOES NOT ACT IMMEDIATELY. *TR

I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX 4CYL COUPE WHICH WAS GIVEN A NEW TRANSMISSION AT 97K MILES BECAUSE OF A RECALL. IT HAS 140K MILES NOW AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AGAIN. MY HONDA DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE IT AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP. THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR IT THIS TIME EVEN THOUGH THIS ONE ONLY HAS $40K MILES ON IT. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $2200. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD ON THIS MODEL ACCORD. *TR

IN MARCH OF 2008, MY 2000 ACCORD SE HONDA'S TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 122,206 MILES; I HAD TO PAY FOR A REBUILT REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION, TODAY I WAS INFORMED THAT I WILL NEED YET ANOTHER TRANSMISSION BY HONDA, THAT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE REPAIR IS COMPLETED, AND THAT THE THREE-YEAR OR 36,000-MILE WARRANTY WILL ONLY EXTEND AS FAR AS THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY (THAT IS ROUGHLY ANOTHER 15,000 MILES OR UNTIL MARCH 2012). THE CURRENT TRANSMISSION ONLY FUNCTIONED FOR LESS THAN 21000 MILES. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS MODEL'S POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF A TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT AND CREATES A DANGEROUS NIGHT DRIVING CONDITION. OUR VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000 MILES ON IT BUT THE SHORTING OUT PROBLEM HAS BEEN EVIDENT FOR OVER TWO YEARS.
