The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. The contact purchased the vehicle and was provided a copy of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V182000 (AIR BAGS) by the original owner of the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer refused to release the vehicle because of a "Do not Drive" warning on the vehicle. The contact had to sign a release form to retrieve the vehicle. The contact stated that the dealer deactivated the front driver’s side air bag. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Dealer has falsely stated that past airbag recall work was completed. The timeframe they gave of completion is incorrect. We owned the car during the timeframe they said the repairs were done, but they were not done. We had a mechanic from Honda call use around the stated time (years ago, I cant recall specifically, dealer has the info), but the mechanic never came yet marked the work as completed. I asked the dealer and they ran a report and said wok was done. I'm basically driving a ticking time bomb.
the engibe over heats above 230 the car has for the 4th time broke down on major highway endangering the kids and in insecure area of the road where you can get murdered the dealer says this is normal defect of the coolant system i don't think buying a 2024 with known defects normal the dealer says there are so many thermostats on order across the US that it will take 1 to 4 months to get the part then here is the best comment it will happen again so this is normal condition of a $70000 car what do you think please advise and by the way they told me to fix the problem i should trade in my car i don't have a lot of money and struggling to buy food fir my kids HELP
The SRS light comes on and once cleared/reset it will typically return after 2-4 trips. it was confirmed when the car when air bags were checked for recalls. This first appeared in 2018 with airbag recalls. It became a recurring issue in 2021 when after each reset it would return. The reset would last months and when the battery was drained it might reappear. In 2024 Jan. the reset and light return cycle become more consistent with it returning within 2-4 trips.

I was driving down the road at about 45mph and the passenger side seat airbag deployed scared me causing me to pull steri g wheel just a little hitting a curb and causing my tire to blow out and destroy the fender well and pull the trim on door panel off along with cracking my front bumper my car was in amazing condition only had 75k miles stated parked in garage now it's trashed out all because the air bag went off for no reason my daughter was in back seat right behind passenger seat and white dusty stuff flew all over her please fix this before it kills someone thanks I love my Honda but will never get in another one scared for my life please fix
Recalled airbags
NHTSA said owners of certain Honda Accords should not be driven since airbags could explode and be fatal to the driver. We are not allowed to drive them until it is fixed.
side air bag light comes on and off randomly when driving no more than 25 mph and lights get brighter when i press the gas but doesn't move immediately.
The airbags failed to provide me protection during an accident on a highway. 1. Airbag was size of steering wheel, both popped upon deploying, didn't protect me from hitting and shattering windshield with my head, seatbelt help me from flying thru windshield , without protection from airbag both hands and wrists are brused in braces.. I been off work for 9 days now 2 visits to ER .. I believe the airbags mafunctioned.. my car is in Inland towing riverside ca. A highway patrol was present unknown if report was made , it's not letting me upload files and fotos
Hit a tree backwards at 60mph caved in driver side quarter blew dash out ripped suspension out ripped gas tank out destroyed radiator, core support, no air bags or side airbags went off
I’m contacting you regarding Honda company mishandling of their airbag safety recall, I own a 2001 Honda accord EX 3.0 and just recently I have learned about the Honda recall for my car.
Hello i recently bought a 2001 honda accord and was not made aware that this year make and model have had such problems that a recall was made. I wax not made aware of the grave problem this year car faced and am not recieving the help i need from honda. This issue puts myself and my family at risk.
Have had the car in the shop multiple times in the last year attempting to solve a consistent radial pull. This has become a safety issue as the car is now being used by a 21 year old granddaughter. Discount Tire has consistently refused to help. The latest alignment was conducted by Advance Auto Tech of Angleton Texas which shows the alignment is not the problem. It is one of the tires now identified as the left rear. Alignment test was conducted on 07/01/2021. Consumer stated tires are 205/65 R15.
I AM WRITING TO YOU IN REGARDS TO A SAFETY CONCERN WITH MY 2001 HONDA ACCORD. THE ENGINE SUBFRAME OF MY 2001 HONDA ACCORD LX HAS 1/4 ENGINE CONNECTIONS ROTTED THROUGH. THIS IS LOCATED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE STRUT ASSEMBLY, BENEATH THE AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN, AS NOTED BY OTHERS ON POSTING ON THE INTERNET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION OTHERWISE, ESPECIALLY WITH VERY LOW MILES (156,000) THERE IS VERY LITTLE RUST ON THE VEHICLE CONSIDERING IT'S AGE. MY MECHANIC SAYS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HE WRITES: 'DURING DEGREASING (AND REPAIR OF RADIATOR) FOUND ENGINE SUB-FRAME RUSTING OUT AND COMING APART. ADVISED CLIENT THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY RISK TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION'. IT APPEARS TO BE THE RESULT OF A DESIGN FLAW RELATING TO THE LOCATION OF THE AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN. HONDA SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DESIGN FLAW AND HONDA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO REPAIR THIS UNSAFE SITUATION. I AM SHOCKED THIS CATASTROPHIC SAFETY CONDITION WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE WITHOUT WARNING BY HONDA AND/OR THE NHTSA!!
Car shifts really hard and rough out of first gear. Ive driven many many accords from working at auctions, Ive owned two in my entire life and they ALL have shift problems. I can’t believe this isn’t a campaign already????!!!!! These trannys are NOTORIOUS for going out. Please if there’s some sort of bulletin or something i missed let me know lol! (Wishful thinking)
HOLA EL PROBLEMA CON MI HONDA ACCORD 2001 ES QUE LO COMPRE EN CON DUEO PARTICULAR Y AHORA ME DOY CUENTA QUE NO TRAE BOLSAS DE AIRE DEL CONDUCTOR Y PASAJERO NECESITO AYUDA CON ESO.
I TOOK IT TO OREILYS TO READ THE OBD AND THE GUY TOLD ME MY ECU WAS WIPED. MY IDENTITY HAS ALSO BEEN STOLEN AND THESE GANG OF PEOPLE WHO IMPERSONATE ME HAVE DONE THIS, AT AN EARLIER TIME 8/19 MY KEYS WERE STOLEN FROM MY ROOMMATE AND I REPORTED IT BECAUSE THEY GOT TICKETS IN MY NAME. ANYHOW I HAVE TO PUSH START MY CAR TO OVERRIDE THE FACT THAT THERES NO DATA TO TELL MY CAR WHAT TO DO AND MY KEY IS ALSO INVALID AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT. WAS HOPING THERE WAS A WAY YOU COULD GET INFO ON WHO DID THIS AND ACCESSED THE INFO?? OR IF I AM COVERED UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT?? [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The automatic transmission is failing. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. It is slipping and sometimes will accelerate extremely slow. Will also jolt forward aggressively at times. Making it dangerous and a safety issue. The transmission can go out soon and make the car stop moving. Putting me and everyone else at risk being stuck on the road.
FFRONT SUB FRAME IS RUSTING AWAY. WAS GETTING A QUOTE FROM YPSILANTI HONDA DEALER FOR BALL JOINTS/BRAKES AND WAS INFORMED THE ENTIRE FRONT SUB FRAME IS ROTTING AWAY. THIS DEALER QUOTE IS $1633 JUST FOR SUB FRAME. CAR IS IN MINT CONDITION WITH 100000 MILES. HAD A AC LEAK WHICH WAS RECHARGED. CAR WAS MY SON`S COLLEGE STUDENT CAR AND IS A GRAVE SAFETY CONCERN.
HONDA ACCORD 2001 4-DR SAB: PASSENGER SIDE REAR FRONT ENGINE SUPPORT COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY DUE TO AC LEAK. DRIVER SIDE REAR FRONT SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY FINE, NO RUST. MECHANIC SAID CAR IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE UNLESS I INVEST IN NEW SUBFRAME FOR OVER $1,200. MY CAR ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AND I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED FOR CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE AC LEAKAGE. I HAVE FOUND MANY FORUMS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM INCLUDING THE ARTICLE 'CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY REQUESTING RECALL OF 1.5 MILLION HONDA ACCORDS FOR RUST ISSUE IN SUB- FRAME AND HONDA ACCORDS FOUND WITH SUB-FRAMES RUSTED OUT BY THE NHOU. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED DRIVING THIS CAR WHILE I WORKED AS A FOOD DELIVERY DRIVER FOR GRUBHUB. I DESERVE COMPENSATION, MY PASSENGER SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND HANGING BY A THREAD WHEREAS MY DRIVER SIDE SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY FINE. THAT DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING AT 40 MPH, WHEN HE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED DOES NOT KNOW IF THERE WAS ANY WARNING LIGHT THAT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES ON HIS NECK BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HER RESIDENCE. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER DEEMED THE VEHICLE WAS LOSS. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
SRS LIGHT IS ON, IT WENT OFF AND AGAIN IS ON, MY AUTO MANUAL INDICATES AIRBAGS/TENSIONER SYSTEMS NEEDS ATTENTION. THIS IS A VERY SEIOUS PROBLEM THAT I CANT MANAGE WITHOUT HONDA OFFCICIAL AUTHORIZED CHECK. MY MANUAL INDICATES A LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR THIS KIND OF ISSUES. THIS PROBLEM CAME WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND THE LIGHT STILL ON.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR FRONT ENGINE SUPPORT IS RUSTING AWAY DUE TO A AC LEAK MY CAR WAS BOUGHT LAST YEAR EVERYTHING WAS FINE DUE TO HOT SUMMERS AND SALTY WET WINTERS WHEN THIS SUMMER CAME MY CARS FRAME WHERE THE FRONT SUPPORT MEATS THE BACK END AND WHERE THE ENGINE MOUNT IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY DUES TO THE YEARS OF THE AC LEAKING DIRECTLY ONTO THE FRAME WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE INFO WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME THAT HONDA WITH THE YEARS 98-02 HAD THIS PROBLEM MY FRAME HAS NOW COMPLETELY BROKEN AND IS HANGING BY A THREAD THIS I'D A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IF I'M DRIVING AND THE FRAME BREAKS IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUSLY INJURY OR DEATH I NOTICED THE NOISE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND WHEN INSPECTION THE VEHICLE AND DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON THING AND DON'T THINK I COULD HAVE TO FIX THE MISTAKE HONDA MADE HAVING A LEAK THAT DROPS DIRECTLY ONTO THE FRAME AFTER 19 YEARS OF THAT HAPPENING THE CAR IS FINALLY BREAKING DOWN BECAUSE OF IT
THE VIN NUMBER LISTS THIS CAR AS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD COUPES. THERE ARE 17 OPEN RECALLS FOR 2001 HONDA ACCORD 2 DR BASED ON SAFECAR.GOV. THERE ARE 4 OPEN RECALLS FOR 2001 HONDA ACCORD COUPES BASED ON THE HONDA RECALL SITE. FOR SOME REASON NONE OF THESE RECALLS ARE SHOWING UP AS APPLICABLE TO THIS VEHICLE BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD COUPE. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE RESULT OF AN OVERSIGHT OR AN ERROR THAT CAN HAVE POTENTIALLY DEADLY CONSEQUENCES IF IT MEANS THAT VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE IN THE RECALL ARE NOT BEING INCLUDED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PULLING INTO AN INTERSECTION, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERAL INJURIES, INCLUDING A BROKEN PELVIS, BROKEN FEMA ON THE LEFT LEG, BROKEN RIBS, BRUISED BONE AND MUSCLE, BROKEN KNEE, BRAIN BLEED THAT WAS DRAINED (STEROID WAS APPLIED). THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE ER AND REMAINED AT HOSPITAL FOR 19 DAYS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND WAS TOWED AWAY. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
GOT A LETTER FOR RECALL
SUBFRAME WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DEW TO RUST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS LARGE HOLES GOING THROUGH IT
AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON PERIODICALLY
STARTED MY CAR THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND IIS STILL ON WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION ON THE CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AND TURNING. I TRIED TO UP LOAD PICTURE IMAGE OF LIGHT BEING ON BUT THIS FORM WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO
I AM AN ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2001 HONDA ACCORD. I NOTICED A LITTLE NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SUSPENSION. I TOOK TIRE OFF AND SEE THAT THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED OUT. I LOVE THE CAR BUT NOW I AM NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR. I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY HONDA WILL HAVE A RECALL. I
HAD RECALL INSTALL DONE LAST SUMMER. NOR ARE LIGHT CAME ON.
BOTH FRONT AND REAR SUBFRAMES HAVE RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH SUCH THAT THE CAR IS NOT ROAD WORTHY
I am able to turn the ignition to the off position and remove the key without putting the vehicle in park. While this has not resulted in an accident YET, the car did roll down my driveway once. Someone could die as a result of this problem. I believe the issue is with the ignition interlock. Both the dealer and an independent mechanic told me it was an expensive repair and “not worth doing on this car”. The thing is, there is a recall for this very issue on other 1999-2002 Honda Accord sedans, but the recall does not include my car’s VIN. This is a public safety threat that make me afraid to sell or donate my car. The problem has been ongoing for about 3 years. There are no warning lights associated with the problem, but a number of other electrical issues have been developing.
ANY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RECALL
FRONT SUB FRAME ROT DUE TO AC DRIPPING CAUSING ADVANCED RUST ON PASSENGER SIDE. CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. MAKING NOISE AS IT IS FALLING APART
FRONT SUB FRAME SUSPENSION PASSENGER SIDE ROTTED . ABOUT TO FALL APART AND/OR CAUSING RIGHT SIDE TO LOSE STEERING CAPABILITY.
TAKATA RECALL-MY SRS LIGHT IS BEEN ON FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS AND MY SIDE AIRBAG LIGHTS IS ALSO COMING ON AND OFF...RECENTLY MY DASH LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE SRS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING AND REMAINED LIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,136.
MY HONDA HAS A LEAKING TRANSMISSION AND IS STARTING TO SLIP HORRIBLY. IT LEAKS ABOUT A QUART A WEEK. EVERY MORNING A COME TO SEE A BIG PUDDLE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID UNDER MY CAR.
SUBFRAME COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH UNDERNEATH AIR CONDITION. CAR 18 YEARS OLD BUT HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT IN THE GARAGE. ALSO IT HAS ONLY 70580 MILES AND HAS BEEN IN FLORIDA FOR A FEW YEARS, AND USED ONLY 3 MOS. PER YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROUND ROCK HONDA (2301 N INTERSTATE HWY 35, ROUND ROCK, TX 78664, 512-942-0939) FOR A PREVIOUS AIR BAG RECALL REPAIR AFTER WHICH THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
TAKATA RECALL...I GOT A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL...I WENT TO THE DEALER AND HAD IT FIXED. IT WAS THE SRS RED LIGHT. HOWEVER, THE SRS REDLIGHT STILL CAME ON AFTER IT WAS FIXED. WHEN I MENTIONED THAT TO THE REPRESENTATIVE HE SAID:" THE SRS LIGHT SERVES SEVERAL PURPOSES. NOT ONLY SRS, BUT ALSO SEAT RESTRAINTS.AND SEVERAL OTHERS. IF WE WANT TO DETERMINE THAT, IT IS AN EXTRA CHARGE OF $ 150.00 PLUS PARTS". I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IS RIGHT. THE WARNING LIGHT CLEARLY SAYS "SRS". YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE.
I REPORTED THIS TO YOUR OFFICE OVER THE PHONE AND RECEIVED A COMPLAINT NUMBER, BUT I LOST IT. THIS MAY BE A DUPLICATE REPORT. THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM; HE INSTALLED A NEW DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATER. BUT: THE RED SRS WARNING LIGHT STILL CAME ON. I SPOKE TO THEM AND HE SAID THAT THE WARNING LIGHT SERVED AS A WARNING FOR SEVERAL FUNCTIONS. HE SAID THAT WOULD COST ME $ 150.00 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE; PLUS PARTS; PLUS INSTALLATION. I DID NOT THINK THAT WAS RIGHT. THE RED LIGHT SHOULD NOT SERVICE MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AT NO CHARGE. WHILE DRIVING, I STILL HAVE THAT RED SRS RED WARNING LIGHT. YOUR OPINION? *JS
MY SIS LIGHT IS ON AND MY DASH IS DARK(ILLUMINATION DOESN'T WORK.STATIONARY AND MOTION NO DIFFERENCE
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO PROVIDE THE REMEDY AND PART WITHIN A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME CONCERNING NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V182000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED A DEALER FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME PER THE NOTICE STATING THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY WERE TO FOLLOW-UP WITH THE CONTACT TO VERIFY PART AVAILABILITY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
UPON INSPECTION BY A GARAGE, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE A/C DRAINS INTO FRONT CROSSMEMBER/ SUBFRAME, CAUSING ACCELERATED LOSS OF STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY BY RAPID OXIDATION.
