TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS BECAME DIM WHEN THE COOLING FAN WAS ON. THE CONTACT STATED THE COOLING FAN CYCLES IN AND OUT EVEN IF THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT ON. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THAT THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ARTICLE SHOWN TO THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IDENTICAL FAILURE WAS RELATED TO ALL 2000 AND 2005 VEHICLES. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER STATED THAT WAS THE BEST THAT THEY COULD DO. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47700.
THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE OF MY HONDA ACCORD COUPE 2005 STOPPED WORKING ALL OF A SUDDEN. A PASSENGER RIDING WITH ME DISCOVERED THAT THEY COULD NOT EXIT THE CAR BECAUSE THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS WAS A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE AND THE DOOR HANDLE NEVER WORKED AGAIN AFTER THAT POINT. THE PROBLEM WAS THE CABLE FROM THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS A DEFECTIVE PLASTIC INSERT WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE DOOR PANEL. FAILURE OF THIS PIECE RESULTS IN THE PASSENGERS OF THE VEHICLE NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS CREATES A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT OR ROLL-OVER. THE CABLE HOLDING THE PLASTIC INSERT HAD TO BE ORDERED AND REPLACED AFTER TAKING OFF THE DOOR PANEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
THERE IS A RUMBLE NOISE THAT HAPPENS AT 25, 40, & 55 MPH. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY AND SO IT HAS TAKEN ME 2 YEARS TO FINALLY GET AN ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V395000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) PERFORMED, BUT THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO SLIP AND JERK WHILE CHANGING GEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,467.
AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THEN STARTED STAYING ON MORE. WITHIN THE WEEK WENT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY SEATBELT SENSOR. COVERED UNDER MY 5 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THANK GOODNESS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 40-50 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE ABRUPTLY TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO STOP HIS VEHICLE IN TIME AND PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A SECOND VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS ONLY PARTIALLY DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER WAS SEVERELY INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO A TRAUMA CENTER. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BROKEN WRIST, SEVERED THUMB AND SEVERE BODILY CONTUSIONS IN THE UPPER TORSO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT WAS HANDLING THE CRASH THROUGH THE HER INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 45,200.
HARD TO STEER AT LOW SPEED. AT IDLE, CAN NOT TURN WHEEL VERY WELL UNLESS YOU PUT IN NEUTRAL AND INCREASE THE RPM. POWER STEERING PUMP USED TO SQUEAL AND DEALER REPLACED SOME SEALS ON POWER STEERING SYSTEM. HONDA REPAIR SHOP SAID " MANY HONDA CARS STEER HARD" IF I NEED TO TURN WHEEL AT LOW SPEED TO GET OUT OF WAY OF DANGER, FORGET IT! *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD V6, 85K MILES. IT HAPPENED ALL OF A SUDDEN (NO COMPUTER WARNING) AND IT WAS IN A SERIOUS SITUATION (ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING BETWEEN CITIES). THE GEARS SLIPPED AND OUT OF NOWHERE I'M DRIFTING WITHOUT ANY GEAR TRACTION. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF, WAITED 20 MINUTES AND THEN STARTED IT BACK UP ONLY TO PUT IT IN DRIVE AND THE CAR WENT IN REVERSE! NOW THEY SAY ITS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. HOW CAN A CAR OF LESS THAN 5YRS HAVE THIS ISSUE? AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE TO HONDA, ONLY TO CLAIM THERE IS NO DEFECTS.. 2005 HONDA ACCORD V6 EX SEDAN. WHILE ENTERING THE FREEWAY THE CAR FELL OUT OF GEAR AND THEN I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OFF (NEARLY GETTING HIT BY MERGING CARS) AND CALL THE HIGHWAY PATROL TO BLOCK ONCOMING TRAFFIC FROM HITTING ME AS I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET OUT OF THE FAR RIGHT LANE COMPLETELY. TOWED CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP WHICH RESULTED IN THEM TELLING ME I HAD A FAILED TRANSMISSION. A FAILED TRANSMISSION WITH 52,300 MILES ON THE CAR. TRANSMISSION AND OIL CHANGE WAS JUST DONE SO WHY THIS FAILED LEAVES ME SHAKING MY HEAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE BUT NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE CHROME COLOR PAINT/COATING ON THE INNER DOOR HANDLES OF MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD IS STARTING TO SEPARATE/PEEL AT THE SEAMS. WHILE OPENING THE DOOR, THE PEELING SEAM ON THE INNER DOOR HANDLE LACERATED MY FINGER. I HAVE CUT MYSELF 3 TIMES ON BOTH INNER FRONT DOOR HANDLES. *TR
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON 2005 HONDA ACCORD CAME ON FOR NO REASON. HONDA CHARGED ME $110 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND SAID THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THEY SAID IT WAS $985 TO REPLACE AND THAT AIRBAGS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE LIFETIME WARRANTY LIKE SEATBELTS WERE. DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED I SPEAK WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THEY TOO WERE SURPRISED IT WASN'T COVERED. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THERE WAS NO WAY THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON, THAT MY CAR WOULD PROBABLY NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION. NOW I AM OUT THE $110 I PAID TO FIRST GET THIS INFORMATION, AND HAVE A CAR THAT MAY NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION DUE TO A MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAG THAT HONDA DOES NOT HAVE AN EXPLANATION FOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, HE HEARD A NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS AND RIGHT REAR CALIPERS WERE COVERED WITH RUST AND COULD NOT BE ROTATED. THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND RECEIVED A CASE NUMBER BUT WAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,700. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,640. UPDATED 10/20/10 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE ROTORS COULD NOT BE TURNED. ALL FOUR ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED INCLUDING THE CALIPERS. UPDATED 10/21/10
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THERE WAS AN EXCESSIVE INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND FAILED TO STOP. WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO THE PARK POSITION THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE GEAR SELECTOR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION, AND THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT TURN OR RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. THE POLICE WAS AT THE SCENE AND HE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE DRIVE RANGE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE IGNITION KEY SUDDENLY TURNED AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,788. UPDATED 11/03/10. *LJ UPDATED 12/7/10 *CN
INSTRUMENT LIGHTS IN PANEL FOR HVAC/AUDIO SYSTEM ARE NOT LIT. ONE NIGHT THEY STOPPED WORKING. EXACT SAME ISSUE AS THIS: MAKE: HONDA MODEL: ACCORD YEAR: 2005 COMPLAINT NUMBER: 10241768 SUMMARY: THE AUDIO UNIT DISPLAY LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON. THE RADIO DIAL, CLOCK, AND HVAC CONTROL SWITCHES ARE NOT LIT. THE ONLY LIGHT ON IN THE AREA IS THE SMALL GREEN LIGHT SHOWING WHICH HVAC BUTTON HAS BEEN SELECTED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS DO LIGHT UP ARE CONTROLLABLE WITH THE DIMMER SWITCH. THIS PROBLEM CAME ON SUDDENLY - ONE NIGHT THEY WORKED WHEN I TURNED ON THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE NEXT NIGHT THEY DID NOT WORK. SO FAR THIS IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM. I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES; NONE WERE BLOWN. AS A DRIVER I CAN COPE WITH THE PROBLEM THIS TIME OF THE YEAR, BUT AS WINTER SETS IN AND THE WINDSHIELD NEEDS TO BE CLEARED OF INTERIOR FOG WITH THE DEFROSTER I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE WHICH CONTROL TO HIT CREATING AN UNSAFE SITUATION. THIS WAS/IS A PROBLEM WITH EARLIER MODEL YEARS (2003-2004) OF THIS MODEL RUN. IN 2007 HONDA ISSUED A 7 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY EXTENSION LETTER FOR THESE YEARS. THERE IS ALSO A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THESE REPAIRS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN. WHILE DRIVING 2-3 MPH ATTEMPTING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL NOISE JUST BEFORE STALLING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AXLE WAS FRACTURED AND THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE WAS ALSO DAMAGED. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT AXLES. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 141,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA AIR BAG, IMA, POWER STEERING, AND LEMON LAWS BROKEN. EVERYONE MAKING 2005 HYBRID COMPLAINTS CONTACT ME AT [XXX] FOR POTENTIAL LAWSUIT FOR HONDA VIOLATING ALL LAWS MENTIONED IN CIVIC LAWSUIT. WE HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS CIVIC OWNERS, THE SAME PROBLEMS, THE SAME HONDA CORP. WE CAN FIND SOMEONE TO HELP US IF WE STICK TOGETHER AS A GROUP. INDIVIDUALS HAVE NO RIGHTS - GROUPS DO!! THE IMA HYBRID STILL DOES NOT WORK AND LIGHT STILL STAYS ON. THE AIR BAG HAS NOT BEEN FIXED EITHER. NO ISSUES HAVE BEEN FIXED AND HONDA CONTINUES TO DENY OUR RIGHTS FOR A SAFE VEHICLE!!! NOW THEY ARE COMING OUT WITH A NEW ACCORD HYBRID. WHEN THEY HAVEN'T RESOLVED THE ISSUES PLAGUED BY HONDA HYBRIDS!! THEY WON'D BUY BACK MY HONDA FAIR AND EQUITABLE PRICE. I HAVE OWNED 4 HONDA'S AND THE 2005 ACCORD HYBRID WAS A LEMON FROM THE VERY START AND HONDA KNEW AND KNOWS IT AND WON'T DO ANYTHING!!! I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX NAV THAT HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON. I'VE CONTACT HONDA ABOUT WHY MY CAR WAS NOT IN THE RECALL LIKE THE OTHER ACCORDS IN THE SAME YEAR MODEL. THEY CLAIM THERE ISN'T A PROBLEM. A SRS AIRBAG LIGHT THAT STAYS ON IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE AIRBAG RECALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES. I ASK THEM TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR BUT THEY REFUSED.
I BROUGHT THE CAR IN APRIL WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE DEALER I NOTICED THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE (SLOWLY) BEFORE COMING INTO A COMPLETE STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD LOCK UP, RELEASE AND THEN COME TO A COMPLETE STOP SLOW ACCELERATION I WASN'T ABLE TO PICK UP SPEED ONCE IT DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON CODE P0122 THROTTLE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON AND IT INDICATES THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE I BROUGHT THE CAR A MONTH AGO AND IT ONLY HAS 64K ON IT. MY EXPERIENCES WITH THIS CODE ARE BUCKING AND JERKING OF THE CAR IDLING SURGES SUDDEN STALLING HESITATION WHILE DRIVING AND A SUDDEN SURGE IN SPEED WHILE DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY ALSO MY FUEL DROPS DRASTICALLY. I CALLED HONDA AND I WAS TOLD BY A SERVICE REPAIRMAN THAT I NEED TO CHANGE THE TPS SENSOR BUT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE THROTTLE BODY TOTALING 500 SINCE THE TPS SENSOR($45) IS NOT SOLD SEPARATELY. ALSO THIS IS CAUSING MY SHIFTER TO GET STUCK I CANNOT SHIFT MY CAR INTO DRIVE. *TR
2005 HONDA ACCORD EX-V6 AUTO-TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT AT 50MPH. LUCKILY IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD BUT HAD THEIR BEEN SOMEONE BEHIND ME IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BAD. THE VEHICLE SLIPPED 5TH, 4TH, AND 3RD GEAR THEN SLOWED TO A STOP. THE ONLY REASON I AM BOTHERING TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHICH THIS SAME CAR HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS (10 SIMILAR REPORTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM SINCE JAN. 2009 ALONE). I AM IN LUCK BECAUSE I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. *TR

CHECKED PREVIOUS HONDA RECALLS AND THE SAME COMPLAINT WAS RECALLED FOR 81000 CARS BUT MINE WASN'T LISTED (RECALL 07V001000 THERE ARE A FEW OTHER COMPLAINTS INDICATING THE SAME PROBLEM AND AS THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE, PERHAPS HONDA SHOULD EXTEND ITS RECALL TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. I ASKED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED (TO DETERMINE IF THE DATE WAS AROUND THE PERIOD WHEN THE OTHER CARS WERE RECALLED) BUT THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE THAT INFO. *TR
WITHOUT WARNING MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY TODAY. WHEN I WENT TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN AT THE END OF THE RAMP, THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT ANY HIGHER THAN 2ND GEAR, COULDN'T INCREASE SPEED TO AVOID ONCOMING CARS, HAD NO POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE CURB TO AVOID BEING HIT. TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE HORN AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE METHOD USED TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH ON A SLIGHT INCLINE; PROCEEDING INTO AN INTERSECTION. WHILE BRAKING THERE WAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN, AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL ON AN UPWARD INCLINE AND STALLED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX-L WAS ILLUMINATED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY HONDA DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE WIRING SUBHARNESS. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE INCLUDED IN THE VIN NUMBERS RECALLED PER THAT CAMPAIGN AND I FEEL THAT HONDA DIDN'T RESOLVE THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT BY THE TIME MY VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED. I WAS AT THE WHEEL OF MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD, SLOWLY EASING IT IN TO A PARKING SPOT IN A PUBLIC PARKING GARAGE WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD, HITTING THE CONCRETE WALL. I PUT MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND ATTEMPTED TO BACK THE CAR UP A FEW INCHES TO SEE WHAT DAMAGE HAD BEEN DONE. WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, THE CAR SUDDENLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS AT A RAPID RATE OF SPEED AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL ABOUT 30 FEET BEHIND THE SPOT. THE LEFT REAR OF THE CAR WAS CRUSHED INWARD ABOUT TWO FEET, SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE ENTIRE REAR, THE SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, AND I SUSTAINED A NUMBER OF INJURIES WHICH HAVE PREVENTED ME FROM RETURNING TO WORK THREE WEEKS AFTER THE EVENT. WHEN DRIVING OVER ROUGH SURFACES OR SLICK (DUE TO ICE OR SNOW) ROADS THE 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID HAS A DELAY IN BRAKING RESPONSE. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE I HAVE ALMOST REAR-ENDED A CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE OF POOR BRAKING RESPONSE/PERFORMANCE. I HAVE WONDERED FOR QUITE SOME TIME IF THIS WAS DUE TO THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING INTERFERING WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. THE RECENT EVENTS WITH CERTAIN TOYOTA MODELS HAVE CAUSED ME CONTEMPLATE WHETHER THERE'S AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEMS AS A WHOLE. HONDA HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I WAS AT MY LAST ROUTINE SERVICE APPOINTMENT, MY SERVICE AGENT TOLD ME THAT OTHER 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRIDS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BRAKING SYSTEMS. THEY OFFERED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THE REPAIR WAS OVER $1,800 - A PRICE I COULD NOT AFFORD. MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX-L V6 (2 DOOR) SUFFERED A SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE CRUISING AT 70 MPH RESULTING IN A NEAR ACCIDENT. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY VEHICLES FOLLOWING ME AND HAD TO MERGE ACROSS TRAFFIC INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE WHERE I "COASTED" DOWN AN OFFRAMP. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED TO THE STANDARDS LISTED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SERVICED TWICE IN 96,000 MILES WHICH EXCEEDS THE STANDARDS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE OWNERS MANUAL ALSO SPECIFIES ONLY GENUINE HONDA TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH WAS USED ON BOTH TRANSMISSION SERVICES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION, AND THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS AT ALL (SLIPPING GEARS, GRINDING, ETC.). IF THE INCIDENT HAPPENED IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION (CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, MORE CARS IN TRAFFIC, ON A WIDER HIGHWAY) IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR

I HAD THE PASSENGER SEAT AS FAR BACK AS IT WOULD GO AND WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. DURING THE COLLISION MY KNEES STRUCK THE FRONT DASH AND SWELLED. THE DRIVER ALSO SUFFERED SEVERE KNEE PAIN MOSTLY LIKELY FROM STRIKING HER KNEES AGAINST THE DASH OR STEERING COLUMN. I BELIEVE THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. EVEN IF THE BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY THEN THE SEAT BELTS SHOULD HAVE HELD. THE SEAT BELTS IN THE 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID PROVIDED NO SAFETY IN A COLLISION.
