ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, HAD TIRE RAPIDLY DEFLATE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. USING SPARE TIRE, TOOK CAR TO TIRE KINGDOM WHERE THEY DETERMINED CAUSE OF FLAT TIRE WAS CRACKED VALVE STEM. TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED AS THE SIDEWALL GOT CRUSHED AND INTEGRITY OF TIRE RENDERED IT UNUSABLE. A MONTH AGO AS I EXITED MY CAR, I HEARD A HISSING SOUND AND NOTICED ANOTHER TIRE HAD AIR LEAKING FROM THE VALVE STEM. I WAS ABLE TO INFLATE THE TIRE AT A NEARBY GAS STATION AND BRING IT TO TIRE KINGDOM WHERE THEY REPLACED THAT VALVE. NO TIRE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED, AND THE TIRE WAS STILL USABLE. THREE WEEKS AGO I DROVE ABOUT 30 FEET OFF THE DRIVEWAY AND REALIZED ANOTHER TIRE (COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE FIRST TWO) HAD GONE COMPLETELY FLAT. USING SPARE TIRE, I RETURNED TO TIRE KINGDOM WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FLAT WAS ANOTHER CRACKED VALVE STEM. BECAUSE THE TIRE HAD A CRUSHED SIDEWALL, IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO REPLACE ALL 4 VALVE STEMS, AND HE INDICATED THAT ALL FOUR OF THEM, INCLUDING THE TWO THAT WERE REPLACED WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS, SHOWED SIGNS OF DRYNESS AND SLIGHT CRACKING. *TR
I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE ON APRIL 28TH 2008. THE CARFAX REPORT HAD AN ACCIDENT INDICATOR BY THE SECOND OWNER, BUT DID NOT MENTION WHAT TYPE OF ACCIDENT IN TERMS OF MODERATE, MINOR, NO DAMAGE, ETC. THIS REPORT WAS PRINTED MARCH 24TH 2008. WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON, AND WHEN DRIVING; IT STILL STAYED ON AND I TOLD ATLANTA USED CAR DEALERSHIP, WHO TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT IT AND STATED THAT ITS PROBABLY A GLITCH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA CAR DEALERSHIP TO INSPECT. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOUND THE SRS CONTROL UNIT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG FAULTY. AS STATED ON MY CUSTOMER INVOICE FROM GWINNETT PLACE HONDA, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG APPEARED TO BE CUT OUT. CARFAX DID NOT REPORT THAT THERE IS A DEFICIENT AIRBAG. ANOTHER INCIDENT FOUND IS THAT THE ACCELERATOR OCCASIONALLY STICK WHEN TRYING TO DEPRESS. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOUND THERE WAS A CARBON BUILD UP AND IT NEEDED SERVICE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD END, WHICH IS ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER WHERE THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE WITHOUT REPLACING THE TIE ROD, WHICH WAS SERVICED AND THEY ALSO PERFORMED A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND TEST DRIVE BEFORE I LEFT. MY EXPERIENCE HAS LED ME TO TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO COMMUNICATE WITH MY ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, AND OTHER CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCIES TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT. SINCERELY, OLUTOMILOLA AIYETIWA *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ACCELERATION DROPPED TO 25 MPH AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 25 MPH, AND THEN BEGAN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED A SOLENOID, BUT IT FAILED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY REPAIRED AND THE WIRE TO THE SOLENOID WAS REPLACED. THE REPAIR COST $856. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,850 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,750.
THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR HAS MAJOR ISSUES. DURING THE NORMAL COURSE OF DRIVING THE CAR BECAME SLUGGISH ON GOING UPHILL LIKE LOSING POWER. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY INFORMED US THAT IT WAS THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR. WE HAD IT REPLACED. THEN ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN AND WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN IT WAS THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR. THIS TIME THE DEALER CLEANED THE SENSOR AND INFORMED MY WIFE THAT ACCORDING TO SPECS THAT THE SENSOR COULD REQUIRE CLEANING AFTER SOMETHING LIKE 80 HOURS OF OPERATION. THIS WAS CRAZY AND I ASKED THE DEALER DO THEY HAVE THE GARAGE LINED WITH ACCORDS GETTING THEIR MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR CLEANED? THAT DID NOT MAKE COMMON SENSE. THEN ABOUT ANOTHER 6 MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE DID IT AGAIN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE THE SENSOR AGAIN. THEY SAID WELL WE HAVE TO LOOK AT THE CODE. I TOLD THEM THAT I HAD BEEN THROUGH THIS TWICE BEFORE AND I WANTED THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM FOUND. THEY CALLED ME BACK ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER AND INFORMED THAT THE CODE READ THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR. I TOLD THEM THAT I TOLD THEM THAT ON THE PAPERWORK WHEN I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AND I ASKED THEM WHAT WAS THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM CAUSING THIS. THEY SAID THEY COULD ONLY GO BY THE CODE. THAT SHOWED ME THAT THE DEALERS HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THEIR OWN VEHICLES. THIS DID NOT START UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 40000 MILES ON IT AND IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING EVERY SIX MONTHS. I HAVE LOST FAITH IN THIS VEHICLE AND ITS RELIABILITY. FIRST HAPPENED APRIL 2007, THEN AGAIN DECEMBER 2007 AND THE LAST TIME WAS MAY 7 2008. *TR
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CONDENSER IN MY VEHICLE DUE TO AN ITEM BEING PROJECTED FROM THE ROAD UP INTO MY CONDENSER DUE THERE BEING NO GUARD TO COVER IT UP. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS A PIECE OF TIRE FROM A SEMI, THIS TIME IT WAS A ROCK. I THINK MY 2005 ACCORD IS A GREAT CAR, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE! I HAVE TO PICK UP MY CAR TONIGHT AND DROP ANOTHER $800 TO GET IT REPAIRED. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO WARN PEOPLE. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX #. I HAVE A BROKEN SEAT POSITION SENSOR WIRE HARNESS. THIS VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE THE RECALL VIN SERIES FOR THE HONDA RECALL Q31. I THINK THAT THEY CUT OFF THE VEHICLE SERIES TO SOON. MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA AND HAVE RECEIVED NO SATISFACTION. *TR
THE AIR CONDITIONING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE SERVICE CENTER THEY INFORMED ME A ROCK HAD BROKEN THE CONDENSER. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE I DISCOVERED IT WAS RELATIVELY COMMON IN 2003-PRESENT ACCORDS, IN FACT SOME OWNERS REPORTED THIS HAPPENING MULTIPLE TIMES. I ALSO FOUND SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS THAT SAID HONDA REPLACED THE PART AT NO COST. WHEN I INFORMED MY SERVICE CENTER (CRISWELL HONDA OF GERMANTOWN, MARYLAND) OF WHAT I HAD FOUND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIR. IN FACT IT IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $700 DUE TO THE LABOR REQUIRED IN GETTING TO THE PART (REMOVING THE FRONT BUMPER). EVEN ONCE I GET THE CONDENSER REPLACED THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY POOR DESIGN, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING PROTECTING THE CONDENSER FROM ANY TYPE OF ROAD DEBRIS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. AS A RESULT, SHE NOTICE A LARGE HOLE IN THE SUN ROOF. AS OF MAY 27, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2005 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICE RELATED TO A DEFECT IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS INVOLVED IN SIX ACCIDENTS DUE TO A RECALL, THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED LONG AGO. *JB
CAR REFUSES TO START. USED A JUMPSTART FROM A FRIEND TO COME HOME. CHECKED THE BATTERY CHARGE INDICATOR - SHOWS GREEN (MEANING FULLY CHARGED) - BUT CAR DOES NOT START WITH THAT BATTERY. REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE AND THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHER PROBLEMS. DASHBOARD LIGHT SEEM TO FLICKER EVERY NOW AND THEN. NOT SURE WHAT THE EXACT ISSUE IS. *TR
TRUNK LID FALLS DOWN IF NOT HELD. WHEN RAISING LID, MUST PUSH ALL THE WAY OPEN AND HOLD IN ORDER TO MAKE CERTAIN LID DOES NOT FALL. (TRUNK SPRINGS APPEAR TOO WEAK). REPORTED MATTER TO VICTORY HONDA SERVICE - PLYMOUTH. ADVISED THAT RODS WERE WORKING PROPERLY. WOULD HAVE TO SPECIAL ORDER TRUNK SPRINGS IF NEEDED. VEHICLE NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. EXAMINED SEVERAL MODELS ON DEALER LOT. SOME HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEM, SOME EVEN WORSE. LID HAD STRUCK WRITER AND DAUGHTER IN THE HEAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WRITER CONCERNED ABOUT INJURY FROM LID SLAMMING DOWN. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD WITH A 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHICH I BOUGHT NEW IN APRIL 2005. I HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS ENGAGING 3RD GEAR RIGHT FROM THE START. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THIS PROBLEM AT 5,000 & 15,000 MI. HONDA MECHANICS COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. AT 34,712 MI. A MECHANIC FINALLY VERIFIED THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE TRANS FLUID PER TECH LINE WITH PART #08798-9031. THIS WAS IN APRIL 07. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. IN AUGUST 07 WITH 44,000 MI. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. NO HELP. FINALLY I WAS CONTACTED BY A SERVICE MANAGER WHO VERIFIED THAT HONDA HAD A PROBLEM WITH 3RD GEAR IN THE ACCORD AND A FIX WAS ON THE WAY. IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN DECEMBER. IT IS NOW LATE MARCH AND STILL NO FIX. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE GONE ON-LINE AND FOUND THAT HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION IN THE ACCORD, THE CIVIC AND THE ACURA SINCE AT LEAST 2005. THERE ARE MANY SITES WITH HONDA OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THIS PROBLEM AND GETTING NO RESPONSE FROM HONDA. IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS, SUCH AS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A FREEWAY ON-RAMP, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE CAR EITHER NOT GO INTO 3RD GEAR OR POP OUT OF IT. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DECELERATES AND OTHER VEHICLES TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS COME UP VERY FAST. IS THERE ANY WAY TO MAKE HONDA FIX THESE CARS? A FEW OF OUR EDITORS HAVE NOTICED IN THE PAST THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER IN OUR LONG-TERM 2006 HONDA CIVIC SI WILL OCCASIONALLY POP OUT OF GEAR OR GRIND WHEN MAKING A 2-TO-3 UPSHIFT. I HAVE OWNED A 2005 HONDA ACCORD SINCE SEPT. 2005. BOTH OF THE CAR KEY CASEMENTS HAVE BROKEN WITHOUT ABUSE DURING THIS TIME. NOW THAT MAY SEEM TRIVIAL, BUT THEY DO SO WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO EXTREMELY BAD DESIGN/ENGINEERING. THEY SEEM TO HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO FAIL. TO REPLACE THEM I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT EACH KEY WOULD COST $67 AND THE PROGRAMMING ANOTHER $88. WITHOUT THE CASE BEING ATTACHED TO THE KEY, THE IGNITION WILL NOT OPERATE. IF SOMEONE WERE SOMEWHERE IN THE COUNTRY ALONG WAY FROM CIVILIZATION, WHAT WOULD ONE DO? THIS IS WHY I AM COMPLAINING, AND WHY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOU LEAVE THE RADIO ON FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES WITH THE CAR OFF, IT REFUSES TO START. EITHER MUST JUMP START OR WAIT 10 MINUTES OR SO BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL START AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4-5 TIMES. AFTER STARTING, EVERYTHING IS GOOD UNTIL YOU HAPPENED TO DO THIS AGAIN. *TR
STARTING IN SEPTEMBER 2007, I HAD VIBRATIONS ON MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD. TRIED MANY REPAIRS LIKE BALANCING TIRES AND ALIGNING FRONT END. ON 2/4/2008 DEALER STATED THAT LEFT FRONT AXLE IS BAD AND CHARGED ME 50% OF COST. AFTER REPAIR DEALER RETURN CAR TO ME WITH NO AIR IN RIGHT TIRES. SEEMED THAT TO TEST THE CAR, DEALER REMOVED AIR AND DID NOT REPLACE AND RETURNED MY VEHICLE TO ME AND I DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD, EX, V6, 4 DOOR SEDAN. THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. DEALER SAID THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE SEAT IS DEFECTIVE. ACCORDING TO NHTSA THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PART, BUT HONDA SAYS NOT FOR MY VIN. *TR
FRONT RIGHT TIRE BLOW-OUTS, SIDE-WALL FAILURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. 2005 HONDA ACCORD, DX. FIRST FAILURE AT 19,000 MILES, SECOND FAILURE AT 23,000 MILES. *TR
2005 HONDA ACCORD V6 CP WITH ONLY 37K ON IT, TRANSMISSION FAILED THIS AM AND WAS TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP IN SACRAMENTO, CA. SO FAR THERE IS NO UPDATE. CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF. ITS SOO SAD THAT A HONDA CAR WOULD BRAKE DOWN AT ONLY 37K WHEN STANDARD WARRANTY IS ONLY GOOD FOR 36K. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WILL HONDA CORPORATION DECIDE BUT I HOPE THEY WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR
SIX CHANGER CD PLAYER OVERHEATS. AFTER 30 SECONDS OF PLAYING TIME , THE PANEL TURNS EXTREMELY HOT AND CD ERROR MESSAGE FLASHES. WHEN THE CD IS REMOVED, IT IS EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH WHERE IT MUST BE PLACED ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. IF MORE THAN ONE CD IS IN THE SIX CD CHANGER, THE PANEL GETS VERY HOT AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE PANEL DISPLAY GOES BLANK. THE RADIO WILL NOT WORK UNTIL THE UNIT HAS COOLED. THERE IS A POTENTIAL DANGER FOR FIRE OR OTHER SYSTEM FAILURE. CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD.*CN
WHEN STARTING CALL FIRST THING IN THE AM IN COLD WEATHER (BELOW 35) I MUST PUMP THE BRAKES BEFORE DRIVING, IF NOT THEY RESPOND AS IF THERE IS NO POWER BRAKING OCCURRING AND HARD BRAKING IS REQUIRED. THIS WILL OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THEY SEEM RESPOND NORMALLY. *TR
I WAS USING MY HEATED SEATS THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK. I SET THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT ON THE LOW SETTING AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES MY LEFT THIGH BEGAN TO BURN. I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE SEAT AND NOTICED THE LEATHER BEGINNING TO DISCOLOR. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE HEAT OFF AND SNUFFED OUT THE SMOKE WITH MY FINGERS. I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING HONDA. *TR

AS I YOUR RECALL LISTING HONDA ACCORD HAD RECALL ON 1/30/2007 AND WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS ACTION. 1. 11/24/2007--DRIVER SIDE...$13.00 2. 01/12/2007---REPLACED AT N/C. WE ARE WONDERING WHY WE DID NOT GET A RECALL NOTIFICATION? ALSO HAZARD INDICATOR HAS FAILED OR DOES NOT STAY LIT AS DESIGNED. REPAIRED ONCE. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 45 MPH. THE DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG, DRIVER'S SEAT AIRBAG, AND DRIVER'S SEATBELT SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED. THERE IS NO APPARENT REASON FOR THIS. *JB
HONDA'S FAILURE TO DISCLOSE THAT A SPARE TIRE IS NOT STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON ITS 2005 ACCORD HYBRID PUT MY AND MY FAMILY'S LIVES IN DANGER. WE FIRST LEARNED OF THE SITUATION WHEN MY HUSBAND HAD A FLAT TIRE. HONDA THEN TOLD US THAT A RETRO-FIT WAS AVAILABLE. BEFORE PARTS ARRIVED, I EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT ON AN OUT-OF-STATE HIGH SPEED THOROUGHFARE AT NIGHT. TWO POLICE CARS AND A TOW TRUCK WERE REQUIRED TO TRANSPORT US TO THE SAFETY OF A MOTEL. ANOTHER 6 WEEKS PASSED BEFORE HONDA HAD THE PARTS TO RETRO-FIT THE VEHICLE AT MY EXPENSE. HONDA ASSUMES NO LIABILITY FOR THIS SITUATION. *TR
FAILURE OF DRIVER'S SHOULDER SEAT BELT TO RETRACT DURING MAJOR ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD, ANOTHER DRIVER FAILED TO YIELD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND I HIT HEAD ON AT 45 MPH AT MY DRIVER'S LEFT FRONT TO CENTER FRONT. DRIVER AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED, BUT THERE WAS NO TENSION NOR RETRACTION OF MY DRIVER'S SHOULDER SEAT BELT. I WENT ABOVE AIR BAG, INTO AND BROKE WINDSHIELD AND BACK UP AGAIN. SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, BACK, CHEST AND ARM INJURIES. 2005 HONDA WAS TOTALED BY INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD WITH FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE. THE A/C STOPPED WORKING SO I BROUGHT IT TO A HONDA DEALER WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY FOUND THAT THERE IS A PINHOLE IN THE CONDENSER AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS DUE TO A ROAD HAZARD. I FEEL THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. THE CONDENSER IS LOCATED 18 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND AND THERE IS NOT PROTECTION FOR IT AT ALL. EARLY LAST YEAR THE CAR WOULD NOT START. ACCORDING TO DEALER THE RELAY SWITCH WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN MARCH 2007 HONDA ISSUED A RECALL RELATING TO A DEFECT WITH THE RELAY, CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO LOSE POWER, BECOME INOPERATIVE ,AND POSSIBLY LEAVING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. ACCORDING TO HONDA'S MARCH 13, 2007 LETTER TO MR. DANIEL SMITH AT NHTSA THE VEHICLE FELL INTO THE VIN NUMBERS WHICH WERE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL AS THIS VEHICLE'S VIN WAS, AND THE VIN RANGE GIVEN BY HONDA WAS [XXX] - [XXX]. CURIOUSLY, THIS VEHICLE DID NOT FALL INTO THE ALLEGED DATES OF MANUFACTURING LISTED BY HONDA. MORE SPECIFICALLY, IT APPEARED THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JANUARY 2005, WHILE THE VEHICLES WITH THE AFFECTED VIN RANGE WERE ALLEGEDLY ONLY MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 13, 2005 - JUNE 15, 2005. I CONTACTED HONDA WITH THIS INFORMATION ,AND WAS ADVISED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, YET MY RELAY HAD FAILED A YEAR EARLIER. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE VIN NUMBERS LISTED BY HONDA TO BE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL DID NOT MATCH UP WITH THE ALLEGED DATES OF MANUFACTURING LISTED BY HONDA, THEREBY CALLING INTO QUESTION THE TRUE NUMBER OF VEHICLES THAT CONTAINED THIS SERIOUS, SAFETY RELATED DEFECT WHICH WARRANTED A RECALL. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2005 HONDA. I JUST RECENTLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT THAT REALLY HAS ME CONCERNED. FROM WHAT I'M TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AT ONE HONDA DEALERSHIP THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE DRIVERSIDE SEAT WAS TOO SHORT AND BROKE. THE SRS (SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM) LIGHT WENT ON INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THIS APPARENTLY DETECTS WHEN SOMEONE IS LEANING TO FAR FOWARD IN THE SEAT AND WOULD PREVENT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING AND INJURING THEM. THIS DISABLED THE AIRBAG IN MY CAR. NO AIRBAG. NO PROTECTION. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE THE 2004 HONDA ACCORDS HAD A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE AN 05 AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS IS A PROBLEM HONDA SHOULD FIX IMMEDIATLEY. I'M TOLD THE 05'S HAVE NO RECALLS. I WANT TO BE PROTECTED IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. HONDA REFUSED TO HONOR RECALL #07V097000 BASED ON THEIR OWN SERVICE BULLETIN #07-020 WHICH INCLUDED THIS VEHICLE'S VIN FOR THE 4-DOOR V6 VIN SERIES AS LISTED. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA IN REGARD TO THIS PROBLEM. *AK
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY 2005 ACCORD LX SINCE 12/04. INITIALLY THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE A BIT RACY BUT I REASONED THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE BROKE IN. AS TIME AND MILES ACCUMULATED, FROM TIME TO TIME THE ENGINE WOULD RACE EVEN AFTER MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO WARM UP. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I WENT BY THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR ANOTHER ISSUE WHEN I ASKED THE (SERVICE MANAGER) ABOUT MY "RACY ENGINE." HIS QUICK RESPONSE WAS THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO WARM UP TO A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE, AND IT WAS IMPLIED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL PERFORMANCE FOR MY CAR'S ENGINE. OVER THE PAST 21/2 YEARS THAT I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR, I ALWAYS MAKE IT A POINT TO LEAVE EXTRA ROOM IN FRONT OF ME WHENEVER I STOP BEHIND ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD. TO PREVENT THE "LUNGE," I MUST EASE UP ON THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY PERIODICALLY RATHER THAN "STAND" ON THE BRAKE. ON 04.19.07, I REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AS I CAME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. AND THAT HE SAID IT IS A VERY COMMON ON THE HONDA ACCORD. I DEFINITELY BELIEVE THAT THIS A DESIGN FLAW IF THERE ARE SO MANY INCIDENTS ON THIS. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER ROAD DEBRIS.. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT OF A GROCERY STORE. I WAS ON MY HOME FROM WORK AND HAD STOPPED TO PURCHASE A FEW ITEMS. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. I HAD BEEN IN THE STORE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHEN I HEARD THE LOUDSPEAKER ASKING FOR THE OWNER OF A 2005 GOLD HONDA ACCORD TO COME TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE COUNTER. WHEN I APPROACHED THE PERSON BEHIND THE COUNTER, HE ASKED ME TO LOOK OUTSIDE TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE ON FIRE WAS, IN FACT, MY CAR. SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE OF MY CAR AND TWO VEHICLES FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE TRYING TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. HONDA INSISTED IT WAS MY FAULT, BUT I FOUND OUT MUCH LATER THAT ENGINE FIRES HAD OCCURRED IN OTHER 2005 ACCORDS. STATE FARM GAVE ME THE REPLACEMENT VALUE FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WASN'T ENOUGH TO PURCHASE A CAR OF EQUAL VALUE. THE HONDA ACCORD WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I FELT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPENSATED FOR THE ENTIRE COST OF THE CAR. PLUS, IF THE FIRE HAD OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I MIGHT NOT BE HERE WRITING THIS LETTER TO YOU. I WAS JUST RECENTLY MADE AWARE OF SOME OF THE RECALLS FROM HONDA FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM AND COMPENSATE ME FAIRLY FOR MY LOSS. I FEEL THAT THE COLD IDLE RPM ON OUR CAR IS SET TOO HIGH AND CAUSES THE CAR TO LURCH WHEN PUT IN GEAR FOLLOWING A COLD START. I WAS TRAVELING WEST BOUND ON WEST 84TH STREET IN HIALEAH,FLORIDA. A VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN FAILING TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY AND CRASHED WITH ME. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE CAUSING ME ALL KIND OF INJURIES, PAIN, BRUISES, ETC. I SUSTAINED A FRACTURE ON MY RIGHT FINGER, CHEST AND NECK PAIN AND CONTUSION. THE AIR CONDITIONING ON MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID FAILED WHILE ON A NEW YEAR HOLIDAY VISIT TO ARIZONA. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS DUE TO DAMAGE FROM ROAD DEBRIS MAKING A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER, AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME $875 TO REPAIR. THIS WOULD SEEM TO BE A DESIGN FAULT, PUTTING SOMETHING SO APPARENTLY FRAGILE AT THE FRONT OF A CAR, BEHIND AN OPENING 28 1/2 INCHES BY 5 WITH ONLY ONE HORIZONTAL BAR UNDER 1/4 INCH WIDE AND 3 VERTICALS LESS THAN 1/8 INCH WIDE. FOR A FEW DOLLARS, THEY COULD PROTECT IT WITH A MESH GRILL AND SAVE WHAT INTERNET RESEARCH SEEMS TO SHOW HAPPENING TO MORE THAN A FEW PEOPLE ON SEVERAL HONDA MODELS. *JB
