I WAS DRIVING HOME, I FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. I HIT THE CORNER OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND MY FRONT LEFT AND KINDA IN THE MIDDLE (HOOD AREA) WAS SMASHED IN ALMOST TO MY WINDSHIELD. NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED & I HIT MY FACE ON THE STEELING WHEEL CAUSING MY TEETH TO GO THROUGH MY BOTTOM LIP & BROKE MY NOSE. INSURANCE CLAIMED IT AS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS NOT A CHILD SAFETY LOCK ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER A REVIEW OF THE INTERNET. IN A CRASH OR FIRE PASSENGER WOULD HAVE TO CRAWL TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR OR THROUGH A WINDOW TO GET OUT. RESPONDERS WOULD HAVE NO WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. *TR
HONDA ACCORD HAS BEEN IGNORING THE CRACK IN THE LOWER COMPLIANCE BUSHING WHICH CAUSES THE OIL TO LEAK SETS UP LARGE AMOUNT OF REPAIR COST. THEY HAVE TO RECALL TO FIX THIS BUSHING FOR UNWANTED REPAIR. *TR

TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY GETTING 22 MILES PER GALLON, BUT THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED THAT IT SHOULD GET 42 MILES PER GALLON. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE NOISE BOX. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
MY DAUGHTER REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR AT VERY LOW SPEED CAUSING MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER AND A SLIGHT DENT IN THE HOOD. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY, OR MORE ACCURATELY TO "DETONATE" SENDING HOT METAL AND PLASTIC SHRAPNEL INTO THE CABIN. AS A RESULT OF THIS MINOR ACCIDENT MY DAUGHTER SUSTAINED SEVERE BURNS, BRUISES AND ABRASIONS ON HER ARMS AND LEGS. HONDA ADMITS THAT THE AIRBAG WAS NOT DESIGNED WITH THIS IN MIND BUT REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY OTHER THAN TO PRESENT ME WITH A BILL FOR $3700.00. THERE IS NO DENYING THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS AT FAULT IN THE ACCIDENT BUT HER INJURIES AND THE EXCESSIVE DAMAGE (THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WAS BLOWN APART) WERE ONLY DUE TO HONDA'S FAULTY AIRBAG AND SAFETY DESIGN FOR WHICH THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. .... TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE AIR CONDITIONER ON, SHE NOTICED THAT THE RADIO DID NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE ON-OFF SWITCH BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
SRS INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED UPON UNBUCKLING DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WITH ENGINE RUNNING. SRS LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON AFTER PLACING SEAT BELT BACK INTO THE BUCKLE. THE SRS LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING WITH SEAT BELT IN BUCKLE. THE ONLY TEMPORARY SOLUTION WAS TO STOP/START THE ENGINE. HONDA'S DIAGNOSIS WAS A FAULTY SEAT BELT BUCKLE REQUIRING A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT WHICH RESOLVED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR THE LIFETIME SEAT BELT WARRANTY FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. AFTER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ROTATE ALL OF THE TIRES, HE NOTICED THE RIMS BECAME STUCK TO THE ROTORS. THE CONTACT PLACED OIL BETWEEN THE RIMS AND ROTORS AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE AND ROTATE THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. A FEW YEARS AGO I NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY CAR WERE DEVELOPING AN OPAQUENESS THAT REDUCED THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT THROWN ONTO THE ROADWAY, CERTAIN DANGEROUS IN THE DARKNESS OF NIGHT AND EXACERBATED WHEN DRIVING ON AN UNLIT ROAD. RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED MORE AND MORE OLDER CARS OF VARIOUS MAKES AND MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I WONDER IF ALL THESE MANUFACTURERS HAVE BOUGHT THE SAME HIGH IMPACT [LEXAN?] LENSES FROM THE SAME SUPPLIER. YEASRS AGO GLASS HEADLAMPS DID NOT SUFFER THIS AGING PROCESS AS DOES THESE NEWER PLASTIC/POLYCARBON REPLACEMENTS. ACCORDING TO A REPORT I READ IN CONSUMERS' REPORT THERE REALLY IS NO SATISFACTORY WAY TO RESTORE CLARITY TO THESE OLDER LIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM BEGS THE QUESTION "WHAT TO DO?" SHOULD THERE BE A RECALL OR NOT...THIS IS THE AUTO COMPANIES' DOING, NOT MINE OR ANY ONE ELSE'S DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH REDUCED LIGHT FROM THEIR HEADLAMPS. IN CASE OF A LOW VISIBILTY CAUSED ACCIDENT WHOO WILL BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY? SIMILAR ISSUE AS REPORT 10659813. THE AIRBAG/SEATBELT LIGHT ABOVE THE GAS GAUGE RANDOMLY STAYS LIT. DOESN'T HAPPEN EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS USED, AND OCCURS MORE IN COLD WEATHER THAN WARM. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME STATES THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THEM WHILE THE LIGHT WAS ON. THIS SITUATION DOES NOT HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY ENOUGH TO ALLOW US TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON.
SRS INDICATOR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
EVEN THOUGH I REGULARLY MAINTAIN MY CAR, MY CAR STALLS AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING ALSO LOCKS UP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS - THE MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE KILLED ME OR POTENTIALLY CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY STREET ROAD - THERE WAS NO WARNING, AND NO INDICATOR LIGHTS WENT OFF PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING - THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF (STALLED) AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP! RADIO, INCLUDING CD, ON 2005 HONDA ACCORD WILL TURN ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY FOR NO REASON WHILE CAR IS PARKED AND LOCKED WITH NO KEY IN IGNITION. IF RADIO VOLUME IS HIGH AND/OR CD WAS ON WHEN CAR WAS TURNED OFF, THIS WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY, ESPECIALLY IF THE CD PLAYER COMES ON. SEVERAL TIMES THIS KILLED THE BATTERY. WORKAROUND SOLUTION - MAKE SURE VOLUME IS AT ZERO AND RADIO IS OFF BEFORE PARKING CAR. *TR
I PURCHASED MY HONDA ACCORD EX WITH 7 MILES ON IT, AND NOTICED OVER A YEAR, POSSIBLY LONGER, THAT THE PAINT WAS PEELING. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT THEY STATED IT WAS BECAUSE OF EPA LAWS MAKING THE PAINTS LESS EFFECTIVE. I ALSO SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY TO HAVE THE CAR SIMONIZED TO ENSURE THE PAINT WHICH WAS A WASTE OF MONEY.

DRIVER OF 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID WAS TRAVELING DOWN A TWO LANE ROAD AND CROSSED OVER THE CENTER LINE. THE DRIVER OVER CORRECTED AND WENT INTO A SPIN. THE VEHICLE SLID DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND HIT BROADSIDE INTO A GROUP OF TREES. AIRBAGS, SPECIFICALLY SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUFFERED MULTIPLE HEAD INJURIES, BROKEN NECK, BROKEN BACK IN SEVERAL PLACES, BROKE NOSE, BROKEN SCAPULA, BROKEN SHOULDER BONE, MULTIPLE RIB FRACTURES, COLLAPSED LUNG, SEVERED EAR. HAD TO BE AIR LIFTED TO HOSPITAL. IS IN ICU AND ON A VENTILATOR. INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN LESS SEVERE IF AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED AS YOU WOULD BELIEVE IN SUCH A WRECK. *TR
THE #2 SPARK PLUG SHOT OUT OF THE ENGINE THRU THE IGNITION COIL, STRIPPED THE THREADS OF THE CYLINDER, HIT THE FIREWALL, AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER IMMEDIATELY WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. REPAIR COSTS QUOTED BY DEALER WERE $6200 TO REPLACE CYLINDER OR $4650 PLUS $700 MACHINING COSTS TO REPAIR. IN READING THE BLOGS OF OTHERS, THIS DEFECT IS RELATED TO THE V6 VTEC ENGINES AND ALWAYS INVOLVES THE FIRST OR SECOND CYLINDER ONLY. IN ONE CASE THE HONDA MANUFACTURER AGREED TO SHARE THE REPAIR COST. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND RECURRED DUE TO THE LOW PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE RANDOMLY LEAKING WITHOUT WARNING YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V222000 (STEERING). THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ORDER THE PART FROM THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO RECEIVE THE PART FROM THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DRIVING TO WORK IN SOMEWHAT HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN I APPROACHED A SLIGHT INCLINE. THE ENGINE BEGAN RACING TO REDLINE AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE TO MOVE THE CAR FORWARD AGAIN. I WAS VERY NEARLY REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME AS THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, AND SUDDENLY THE GEAR ENGAGED AGAIN AND I WAS ON MY WAY. WHILE SLOWING DOWN FURTHER ON IN MY DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN PULSING AND SURGING AS I SLOWED NEARLY CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. I BACKED OFF FROM THE TRAFFIC AND WAS ALMOST TO WORK WHEN I APPROACHED ANOTHER HILL. THIS TIME THE ENGINE AGAIN RACED TO REDLINE AND I PULLED TO SHOULDER AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. I WAITED A MINUTE AND RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE FINE AGAIN. I DROVE THE HALF MILE TO WORK AND IMMEDIATELY SETUP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE DEALER BY KEEPING THE DRIVE SELECT IN 3RD AND THEY HAVE DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A FAILED 2ND GEAR LEAVING ME TO FOOT THE BILL FOR A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION AT OVER $5000. NEEDLESS TO SAY, MY WIFE AND I AS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED AND HOPEFUL THAT HONDA WILL HELP TO COVER PART OF THE REPAIR. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY WIFE AND CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR WHEN IT LOST POWER AND COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD WITH 75K ON THE ODOMETER. *TR

ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AFTER GETTING THE HONDA ACCORD STEERING HOSE REPLACED DUE TO OVERHEATING, I BEGIN TO HEAR NOISES AND HAVE STEERING ISSUES. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PION STEERING AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I BELIEVE THAT DUE TO THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS THE CAUSE TO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS TO THE STEERING. *TR

AT ANY TIME WHEN FIRST OPERATING VEHICLE WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING, BRAKES FAIL TO FUNCTION. MUST WAIT FOR BRAKES/BRAKE FLUID TO WARM BEFORE THEY FUNCTION CORRECTLY. STOPPING IMPOSSIBLE BEFORE SYSTEM WARMS. I AM IN GEORGIA, SO I WOULD HATE TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE IN NEW YORK. *TR
ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE DAY THE GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. MY CAR'S MAKE/MODEL USES THE GPS NAVIGATION PANEL TO MANUALLY CHANGE INTERNAL FUNCTIONS, ACCESS THE TRIP COMPUTER, ENTER ADDRESSES, ET CETERA. WITHOUT USE OF THE NAVIGATION PANEL, I HAVE SEVERELY LIMITED ACCESS TO MOST OF MY CAR'S ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS. THE NAVIGATION GETS STUCK ON THE START-UP SCREEN (SOMETHING THAT LOOKS BLUE/BLACK WITH WORDS 'HONDA'), AND NEVER GETS TO THE SECOND WARNING SCREEN (ORANGE TEXT ON BLACK), WHERE ONE CAN PUSH 'OK ON THE TOUCH SCREEN. WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARMER, SOMETIMES I CAN PUSH THIS OK BUTTON TO GET INTO THE CONTROLS. I USUALLY HAVE 30 SECONDS UNTIL IT FAILS AGAIN. THE FOLLOWING ISSUES ARE PRESENT: 1) CDS; I CANNOT SELECT A CD TO LISTEN TO. I CAN EJECT/PUT CDS IN, BUT I CAN ONLY CHANGE SONGS USING THE CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL. 2) CLIMATE CONTROL/TEMPERATURE CONTROL: I CANNOT SWITCH FROM THE A/C TO HEAT. I CAN ONLY ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE UP/DOWN, RECIRCULATE AIR, OR TURN ON FRONT/REAR DEFROST. FOR ANY TEMPERATURE SETTING, WHEN I PUSH THE 'OFF' BUTTON, I CANNOT TURN THE SAME SETTING BACK ON WITH THE 'AUTO' BUTTON. IF I PUSH THE 'AUTO' BUTTON, IT RECALLS SOME RANDOM LAST TEMPERATURE SETTINGS, USUALLY A VERY COLD A/C SETTING (WHICH I NEVER PROGRAMMED OR DESIRED). 3) MAPS; I CAN'T ENTER ANY ADDRESSES, THEREFORE, THE NAVIGATION IS USELESS. IF IT MAGICALLY WORKS, IT TURNS OFF SHORTLY AFTER AN ADDRESS IS ENTERED. THE NAVI 'LOCK-UP' SITUATION I DESCRIBED HERE HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR OVER A YEAR OR SO. WEATHER DOES AFFECT IT. MY RESEARCH CONCLUDES THAT MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAD THIS ISSUE. MANY WERE TOLD BY HONDA DIRECTLY THAT HONDA DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS, AND TO CONTACT ALPINE, THE MANUFACTURER OF THE GPS NAVI. MOST CUSTOMERS WHO DID THIS WERE TOLD TO SEND THEIR WHOLE CD/DVD READER UNIT TO ALPINE FOR REPAIR, WHICH COSTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. *TR
THE CAR HAVE A RECALL FOR FRONT AIRBAGS THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WAS ON BUT WHEN I WENT TO FIX THE PROBLEMS THE CAR STILL HAVE THE SAME LIGHT ON AND MORE MALFUNCTIONS WITH THE SEAT BELT SENSOR. HONDA DIDN'T FIX IT A WANT ME TO PAY ALMOST $300 FOR REPAIR SOMETHING THAT HONDA IS SUPPOSE TO TAKE CARE IF THE CAR HAS A RECALL.
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE HAD AN AIR BAG LIGHT ON FOR YEARS AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. EVERY TIME I CHECK FOR A RECALL AND MINE HAS NEVER HAD ONE, THEN WHY HAS MY AIRBAG LIGHT STAY ON?
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY CAR LOST POWER FROM THE ENGINE. THE RPM'S WENT HIGHER BUT THERE WAS NO POWER EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ON THE DASH TO TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING EXCEPT FOR THE RPM GAUGE. THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY DISENGAGED JUST AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN 'DRIVE'. THE SCARIEST PART WAS THAT I WAS STUCK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT NIGHT DURING A RAINSTORM AND THERE WERE NO VISIBLE WARNINGS TO OBSERVE OTHER THAN THE TACHOMETER AND SOUND OF THE ENGINE REVVING UP. I UNDERSTAND NOW THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED TO FAIL PREMATURELY DUE TO OVERHEATED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A HIGH COST. *TR
AFTER CRANKING THE CAR THE GEARSHIFT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I HAD TO PRY THE CAP OFF THE SLOT TO THE LEFT OF THE P AND STICK A SCREWDRIVER IN TO RELEASE THE GEARSHIFT AND THEN PULL IT DOWN TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE CAR WOULD THEN CRANK AND SHIFT LIKE NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE BUT ALWAYS IN THE WINTER. IT HAS HAPPENED IN BOTH MICHIGAN AND ARKANSAS. I ALWAYS FEAR THAT ONE DAY IT WON'T RELEASE AND I WILL BE STUCK SOMEWHERE.
CAR WAS PARKED IN A LARGE PARKING LOT..(EXP. MALL PARKING AREA) STARTED TO PULL THROUGH THE PARKING SPOT TO EXIT. NOTICED PEDESTRIANS TO MY RIGHT, SHARPLY TURNED STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, CAUSING THE CAR'S LEFT FRONT BUMPER TO HIT THE BASE OF A LIGHT POLE. MPH LESS THAN 5. DISTANCE OF TRAVEL 2 FEET. AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BREAKING BOTH THE ULNA AND RADIAL BONES IN MY RIGHT FOREARM, BRUISING OF MY CHIN. SURGICAL INTERVENTION REQUIRED TO FIX FRACTURES. PLACEMENT OF 3 PLATES WITH SCREWS. CAR HAS A SMALL INDENTION ON THE LEFT BUMPER. THIS AIR BAG SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED. *TR

THE SRS LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ON. DEALERSHIP TESTED THE SYSTEM AND FOUND 2 CODES. FIRST CODE READ THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BUCKLE SWITCH FAULT. SECOND CODE READ THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT POSITION SENSOR FAULT. BOTH CODES ARE CAUSING THE SRS LIGHT TO STAY ON. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BUCKLE SWITCH IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY (AT 143,000 MILES). THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT POSITION SENSOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE SEAT POSTION SENSOR BUT MY VIN DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE LISTED VINS CALLED OUT ON THE DOCUMENT. WHY IS IT THAT A CAR WITH TWO DIFFERENT DEFECTIVE PARTS, THAT ARE CAUSING THE SAME ISSUE, NOT BOTH BE COVERED BY WARRANTY ON MY CAR BUT IS COVERED FOR OTHER CARS THAT ARE THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR? NOW I HAVE A NEW DRIVER SIDE SEAT BUCKLE SWITCH WITH A SRS LIGHT THAT IS STILL ON. *TR

THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN COMPLAINT NUMBERS 10651654, 10652518, 10659813, 10717673, AND 10722366. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. IT CONTINUES TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED INDEFINITELY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. HOWEVER, UPON RESTART IT LIGHTS BRIEFLY AND THEN GOES OFF, WHICH APPEARS TO BE NORMAL OPERATION. THE INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THE PROBLEM MEANS IT CAN'T BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. HOWEVER, OUR CONCERN IS THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM FIRST APPEARS ABOUT 2013 OR EARLY 2014 AND HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR THEREAFTER. PLEASE NOTE THE STRIKINGLY HIGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL. FIVE OF THE FIFTEEN COMPLAINTS DEAL WITH EXACT ISSUE, AND TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS (10567527 AND 10567640) REPORT THE FAILURE OF THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY IN ACCIDENTS IN WHICH THEY CERTAINLY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THUS ALMOST HALF OF THE COMPLAINTS DEAL WITH AIRBAG OPERATION FAILURE. NOTE ALSO THAT THIS IS ON A RELATIVELY LOW-VOLUME MODEL. ONLY ABOUT 25,000 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID 2005 WERE SOLD IN THE US. UNLIKE MOST 2005 HONDA ACCORDS, THIS MODEL (THE HYBRID) WAS MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN, NOT THE US, AND THUS HAS MANY DIFFERENT PART SUPPLIERS. I ALSO NOTICE THAT THIS MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TAKATA RECALL, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT APPARENTLY HAS A TAKATA AIRBAG SYSTEM.

GENTLY PRESSED GAS AND INCREASED SPEED BACK UP TO NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED. A WHINE IS COMING THE ENGINE BAY - MORE NOTICEABLE AT LOWER SPEEDS. TRANSMISSION SUBSEQUENTLY NOT SHIFTING SMOOTHLY. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
