I HAD JUST RETURNED FROM THE STORE IN MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX/L. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY PLACED MY CAR INTO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE AS I NORMALLY WOULD. BUT TO MY SURPRISE WHEN I CLOSED MY DOOR I HEARD A LOUD POP! I TURNED AROUND AND SAW MY CAR FILLED WITH DUST I OPENED MY DOOR AND REALIZED MY AIRBAGS HAVE DEPLOYED. BOTH DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. I DIDN'T "SLAM" THE DOOR OR CLOSE IT ANY HARDER THEN I NORMALLY DO. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND HE TOLD ME I HAD TO OF SLAMMED MY DOOR FOR ALL OF THEM TO BLOW OFF LIKE THEY DID "THEY DON'T JUST BLOW OFF ON THEIR OWN" " YOU SLAMMED YOUR DOOR" I KNOW HOW I CLOSE MY DOOR. I TAKE CARE OF ALL OF MY BELONGINGS. IS WHAT I REPLIED WITH. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME I WAS LOOKING AT $6,000 TO GET THEM REPLACED. I DON'T HAVE 6 GRAND SITTING AROUND SO AFTER MANY HEADACHES AND THE DEALER TRYING TO SCAM MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND GETTING MAD THAT I TRIED TO CONTACT HONDA DIRECTLY TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE THEY FINALLY FIXED MY CAR....(IT TOOK THEM 2 MONTHS) AND COST ME A LOT OF MONEY. I WAS GIVEN NO HELP FROM HONDA EVEN AFTER I HAD FOUND OUT THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY PERSON OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. WITH THAT BEING SAID YOU'D THINK HONDA WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. APPARENTLY TAKING CARE OF CUSTOMERS AND DOING WHAT'S RIGHT HAS FALLEN LOW ON THE POLE FOR HONDA. I CAN PROMISE I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A CAR FROM HONDA EVER AGAIN. *TR
I ENTERED MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD IN MY DRIVEWAY AND AFTER CLOSING MY DRIVERS DOOR, MY SIDE AIRBAGS AND DRIVERS SEAT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION NOR WAS THE ENGINE RUNNING. HONDA IS GIVING ME THE ROYAL RUN AROUND AND WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS. THEY WANT ME TO GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO GET THIS REPAIRED, WHEN IN FACT THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THEY ARE BLAMING IT ON A SENSOR THAT IS UNDER THE CAR, WHICH THEY SAY MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED. THIS CAR IS STILL IN SHOWROOM CONDITION WITH 22,000 MILES. THEY JUST HAD AN AIRBAG RECALL ON 2002-2004 MODELS, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT IN CALIFORNIA WERE VERY RUDE AND ADVISED IF THERE IS A RECALL IN FOUR OR FIVE YEARS THEN I CAN BE REIMBURSED. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO MANY 2008 HONDA ACCORD OWNERS LOOKING THROUGH THE INTERNET. IT IS TIME THAT SOMEONE MAKES THEM ACCOUNTABLE, AS LOYAL HONDA CUSTOMERS WE SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF IF THEIR REPUTATION IS QUALITY AND EXCELLENCE. WE SHOULD BE TREATED PROPERLY AND HAVE THIS REPAIRED. IT IS TIME HONDA RECALLS THEIR 2008 HONDA ACCORD AND FIXES THIS ISSUE NOW, BEFORE IT DEPLOYS AND SOMEONE GETS KILLED. PREMATURE FAILURE OF REAR BRAKE PADS.
AIR BAG LIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED ON IN AUGUST I HAD TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TO FIND THE PROBLEM RESULTS WERE SRS MODULE IS BAD. THEY WANT ME TO REPLACE THIS SAFETY ISSUE, $405 TO REPLACE. SHOULDN'T THIS BE COVERED BY AMERICAN HONDA. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WHEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UP TO 70 MPH. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TRUCK WHILE ATTEMPTING TO AVOID OTHER VEHICLES. IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE DRIVER FROM THE VEHICLE, IT HAD TO BE CUT OPEN. THE DRIVER SUFFERED SEVERE INJURIES AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 39,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE COMPLAINT I HAD WITH THE VEHICLE IS THAT THE BRAKES WORE OUT WAY BEFORE WHAT IS USUALLY EXPECTED OF THEIR NORMAL LIFE. AT 22,000 I COULD BARELY HEAR AN AUDIBLE HIGH-PITCHED SOUND. AT 25,000, WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR ROUTINE SERVICING, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN DOWN TO LESS THAN 2/32 AND THAT THE RIVETS ON THE PADS WERE SCORING THE ROTORS AND IT WAS NEEDING A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB. I FELT THIS WAS RAPID WEAR AND AFTER READING COMMENTS FROM OTHER HONDA OWNERS FOUND THERE MAY HAVE BEEN ENGINEERING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM STEMMING FROM AN"ENHANCEMENT" AND REDESIGN OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM.
THE CAR JERKS INTO GEARS ESPECIALLY 2ND! *TT
I BOUGHT MY 2008 ACCORD USED WITH 32K ON IT. HONDA HAD A GREAT RECORD WITH RELIABILITY AND QUALITY IN THE PAST SO THIS CAR, I FIGURED, WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP, I NOTICED THE OIL WAS LOW. I CHECKED THE OIL WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND IT WAS FULL, AND IT WAS NOW DOWN ABOUT A HALF A QUART. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THEY TOPPED ME OFF, AND PUT ME ON AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, THERE WAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL ON MY CAR ABOUT A MONTH LATER. THE DEALERSHIP UPDATED THE SOFTWARE TO PREVENT OIL CONSUMPTION AND I WAS SENT ON MY WAY. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, MY CAR WAS STILL CONSUMING OIL AT ABOUT A QUART PER 2290MILES. THAT WAS THE OFFICIAL HONDA TALLY AT THE END OF MY OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. I CONTACTED HONDA THROUGH WRITTEN LETTER AND PHONE CALL SAYING THAT THEIR RECALL/SOFTWARE UPDATE DID NOT WORK AND THAT MY CAR WAS STILL CONSUMING OIL. AMERICAN HONDA WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY DOCUMENTATION ABOUT WHAT ACCEPTABLE OIL CONSUMPTION ON A CAR WAS, BUT IN THEIR WORDS IT WAS 1QT/1000 MILES. NO WHERE IN THE BILL OF SALE OR OWNERS MANUAL DOES IT SAY THE OWNER WILL HAVE TO ADD OIL DURING REGULAR DRIVING TO KEEP THE OIL AT ACCEPTABLE LEVELS. TALKING WITH BOTH AMERICAN HONDA AND DEALERSHIPS AS WELL, THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY PROOF THAT CONSUMING OIL AT THIS RATE WILL NOT HARM THE CAR. I AM CURRENTLY ADDING ABOUT 1QT/1500MILES TO KEEP MY CAR FROM RUNNING OUT OF OIL, AND UNDER THE 5YEAR 60K WARRANTY, HONDA STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALL OF MY RECEIPTS OF REPAIRS AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE FROM THE DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH DATED PHONE CONVERSATIONS TO HONDA REPS INCLUDING CASE NUMBERS. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW HONDA'S MALICIOUS AND GREEDY INTENT NOT TO HONOR ITS WARRANTY AND FIX ITS CARS. MINE STILL HAS YET TO BE FIXED. *TR
REAR BRAKE PADS COMPLETELY WORN ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD. *TR
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2008 HONDA ACCORD EXL IN 2008. IT HAS ONLY 40,000 MILES ON IT AND MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO PASS AND THE ENGINE MISSED AND AND BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND MISFIRE AND ALMOST HAD A HEAD ON BECAUSE HE COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND HAD TO FIND A WAY TO GET BACK INTO LINE. WE TOOK IT IN AND THE ONLY THING TO FIX IT WAS REPLACE THE SPARK PLUG WHICH WE DID AND CAR WAS FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS BUT NOW IT IS DOING IT AGAIN. I FEEL IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE IF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. *KB
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD (CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED) JANUARY 06, 2010. THE MILEAGE WAS 46,399. THE HONDA DEALER SAID THE BRAKES WERE NEW. (CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED) WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES JULY 2011 AT 53,096 MILES. (6697 MILES LATER) AUGUST 2012 WE HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES ROTORS AND CALIPERS 68007 MILES. AT THIS TIME WE WERE ADVISED OF A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM BY JUST BRAKES.. WE CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY SAID SINCE WE WERE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND WE DID NOT TAKE ACTION SOONER (PRIOR 2010?) WE WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THESE REPAIRS. (HONDA SETTLES LAWSUIT OVER THIS MATTER??) WE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES IN AUGUST 2012 AS WELL. SINCE THE REPAIR OF THE BRAKES AND CALIPERS WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES AND THE GAS MILEAGE INCREASED. WE HAVE SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT HONDA HAS KNOWN ABOUT. A "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" HONDA SHOULD QUALIFY FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT THAT HONDA HAS OFFERED, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. SINCE WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE "PROBLEM" UNTIL AFTER 2010 (AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE) WE COULD NOT HAD ACTED IN TIME. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THERE WAS A "SAFETY BULLETIN" ABOUT THIS ISSUE? IF THERE WAS, WHY DIDN'T HONDA/DEALER NOTIFY US OF THIS ISSUE? OR SHOULDN'T THEY HAVE FIXED THIS ISSUE BEFORE SELLING THE HONDA AS A "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" VEHICLE? I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA YESTERDAY ABOUT A DEFECT (CONTROL ARM) IN THE 2006, 2007 & 2008 HONDA CIVIC AND REIMBURSEMENT AVAILABLE FOR THIS LAW SUIT. I WOULD LIKE HONDA TO REMEDY THE SITUATION ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD. *TR
MY VEHICLE BURNS ABOUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. MY ENGINE MAKES KNOCKING NOISES WHEN STARTING VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF OIL. IT SEEMED TO START AFTER DEALERSHIP PERFORMED RECALL. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY CLAIM NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE LEATHER INTERIOR OF ARMREST AND DOOR ARMREST ARE BLISTERING. THE ARMREST HAS SPLIT WITH NO WEAR WHAT SO EVER ON BOTH. *TR
BRAKES 2ND ISSUE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2009 BUT HONDA NEVER ADMITTED THAT THEY WERE @ FAULT THERE IS NO WAY I CAN AFFORD TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN 'IM INFORMING YOU OF THIS TIME BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT HONDA SHOULD COVER THE REPAIR COSTS AND REPAIR CORRECTLY I ENTERED MORE INFO ABOUT THIS ON BEEF. 2008 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH REAR BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED FIVE TIMES AND THE FRONT BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THEY INSTALLED THE PADS WITH MORE METAL AND THEY SHOULD LAST LONGER. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITHIN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE EXCESSIVELY. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 25,406.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE LIGHT WOULD STAYED IN DIMMED POSITION THEREFORE, HE COULD NOT SEE ANY OF THE DIRECTIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 11/03/11*LJ UPDATED 11/14/11

EXCESSIVE NEED FOR OIL, BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. OIL INDICATOR DOES NOT SHOW THAT VEHICLE IS LOW ON OIL, BUT VEHICLE STARTS TO RUN WITH PROBLEMS, IF OIL NOT REPLACED. *TR
MY NEPHEW (25 YEARS OLD) AND I WERE OUT AND CAME HOME AND WHEN HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SHUT THE DOOR (A LITTLE HARDER THAN NORMAL) THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. IT HAS JUST HAPPENED ONLY ONE TIME. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST ME $5,989.00 TO REPAIR THE AIRBAGS. I THEN CALLED AMERICAN HONDA. RECEIVED A CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY BUT MISSED THE CALL FROM THE REP FOR AMERICAN HONDA. I CALLED AND LEFT THE REP A MESSAGE AND HE DID NOT CALL ME BACK UNTIL A WEEK LATER. BY THEN I HAD CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY (I COULD NOT WAIT ANY LONGER, I HAD TO GET MY CAR FIXED). WHEN THE REP FROM AMERICAN HONDA CALLED BACK HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO BECAUSE HE NEEDED TO INSPECT THE CAR. MY CAR WAS REPAIRED BY A BODY SHOP MY INSURANCE COMPANY RECOMMENDED. I HAD TO PAY A $500.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $3,200.00 ( A LOT LESS THAN HONDA'S PRICE. *TR
REAR BRAKE PADS COMPLETELY WORN OUT. FRONT BRAKES PADS STILL@ 75% GOOD. THIS IS UNHEARD OF DUE TO THE FACT THAT MOST OF THE BRAKING IS ON THE FRONT PADS. *TR
LOUD NOISE FROM REAR BRAKES. SQUEALING, SO PULLED OVER. THEN DROVE 8 MILES HOME. NOW IN 2015 AT 33000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR PADS THREE TIMES, HAD SLIDES REPAIRED AND LUBED, TWO SETS OF ROTORS, AND NOW A REAR CALIBER THAT HONDA REPLACED BECAUSE I STILL HAD A WARRANTY ON THEM. THEY WHERE FOUND TO BE SEIZED YET AGAIN 12/10/14 AFTER BEING SEIZED AND SERVICED 5/12/14. EACH TIME I'D NOTICE A SMOKING OR WEIRD NOISES COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES AND THEN WOULD SCHEDULE AN APPT.HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE REAR BRAKES OR OFFER SOME KIND OF BRAKE UPGRADE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING. WHEN TRAVELING ON CITY STREETS, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK ABNORMALLY BUT NOT WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW AND THE STEERING WAS TO HARD TO TURN, SO WE TOOK IT TO HONDA ON CENTINELA AVE. NEAR LADERA HEIGHTS, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US $1200.00 TO REPLACE IT. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER WE TOOK THE CAR TO SANTA MONICA DEALER 18TH STREET. THEY STATED THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS LEAKING AND THE RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THAT I HAVE TO PAY $1200.00 BUT HONDA ACCORD AMERICA WAS GOING TO GIVE ME A 50% DISCOUNT. I PAID 50%. THEN WHEN DRIVING BACK TO MY HOUSE, I HEARD A LOT OF NOISE, LIKE SOMETHING WAS LOOSE. THE NOISE GOT WORSE, WHEN I WAS TURNING LEFT, RIGHT OR GOING INTO A DEEP AREA. SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THEY SAID, THEY CANNOT HEAR THE NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY SAID THE STRUTS ARE DAMAGED AND POWER STEERING HOSES ARE LIKING ALL OVER. CAR ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES, I DON'T REALLY USE IT THAT MUCH. THIS IS A LEMON CAR. CAN SOMETHING BE DONE? *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE DECLARED WORN OUT BY THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER, THE FRONT BRAKES HOWEVER WERE DEEMED IN "GOOD CONDITION" AND NEEDED NO MAINTENANCE, WE HAVE DISCOVERED THIS REAR BRAKE PROBLEM, KNOWN TO THE HONDA , IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN MATERIALS, DISCOVERED THROUGH A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT THAT HAS BEEN SETTLED OUT OF COURT. THE REASON FOR THE PREMATURE REAR BRAKE FAILURE HOWEVER IS STILL UNKNOWN TO HONDA OWNERS. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES ONE TIME AND CHANGED MY REAR BRAKES 3 TIMES (CURRENTLY I HAVE 94,000 HIGHWAY MILES) IF YOU ASK ANY MECHANIC THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE REAR BRAKES SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 2 TO 3 TIMES LONGER THAN THE FRONT BRAKES. I HAVE PROOF THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE LIFE OF THE NEW BRAKE PADS HONDA CREATED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. NOT KNOWING OF THE CLASS ACTION I NEVER SUBMITTED A CLAIM FOR A REIMBURSEMENT, BUT I FOUND THAT HONDA HAD ALREADY STARTED USING THE NEW BRAKES STATED IN THE CLAIM. THE DEFECTIVE BRAKES LASTED 30,000, AND NEW BRAKES LASTED EXACTLY THE SAME.
