2008 HONDA ACCORD, STARTED MAKING HORRIBLE SCRAPING NOISE AFTER JUST 15K MILES. WENT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW 08 ACCORDS HAVE ALLOY WHEELS AND COUPLED WITH THE SALT IN THE AIR FROM LIVING NEAR THE BEACH CAUSES THE NOISE. COME TO FIND OUT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE METAL TO METAL AND COST 287.01 TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. I COMPLAINED THAT THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT BE GOING OUT THIS SOON AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS MY DRIVING HABITS THAT CAUSED THE BRAKES TO GO OUT SO SOON. *TR
SQUEALING NOISE FROM REAR BRAKES AFTER 26,000 MILES. INSIDE REAR PADS EXCESSIVELY WORN. *TR
I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD WITH A LITTLE OVER 13,000 MILES ON IT. THE REAR BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY WORN DOWN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THIS, BECAUSE IT IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN DESIGN THAT MY LOCAL DEALER REFUSES TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE YET TO CALL HONDA, BUT FROM WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE HAS SAID, HONDA WILL DO NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD WITH 33,140 MILES ON IT, PREDOMINANTLY HIGHWAY MILES. THE BRAKES STARTED GRINDING. AFTER AN INSPECTION, I'M TOLD THAT ALL MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR ARE COMPLETELY WORN AND ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS UNACCEPTABLE. BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT AFTER 33,000 MILES. WHILE HONDA ADMITS THERE IS A PROBLEM, THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

2008 REAR BRAKE PADS GONE AT 21,500 MILES, MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING. I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND WAS TOLD THAT 1. IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND 2. HONDA PUT SMALLER PADS. I OWNED 6 NEW CARS NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM, VERY DISAPPOINTING WITH HONDA AND IF THEY DON'T FIX THIS PROBLEM I'LL NEVER BUY HONDA AGAIN.*TR
REAR BRAKE PADS ARE COMPLETY OUT AFTER 15K MILES. THONDA DOES NOT WANT TO COVER IT ON THE WARRANTY. FRONT PADS ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD LX, PREMATURE REAR BRAKE PAD WEAR. THE FIRST TIME I HAD THEM REPLACED MY CAR HAD 14,000 MILES, JUST BOUGHT IT 5 MONTH AGO. SECOND TIME WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS LATER. DEALER STATES, "NORMAL " THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT'S THE SAME BRAKE PAD AND ONLY ONE SIDE WEARS OUT. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A NEW CAR NEEDS BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENTS EVERY THREE MONTHS. THE FRONT BRAKES ARE STILL GOOD. *TR
MY REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED TODAY AFTER ONLY 21K OF WEAR ( WORN DOWN TO THE METAL INDICATORS). I WAS HANDED THE LINE JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO'S HAD THIS PROBLEM THAT SINCE HONDA CHANGED OVER TO 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE THINNER AND THEREFORE WEAR FASTER (MY FRONT BRAKES HAT 50% LEFT!). I DON'T BUY IT. WHY WOULD HONDA, A MANUFACTURER WHOSE NAME IS SYNONYMOUS WITH "QUALITY," MAKE SUCH AN ERROR IN JUDGMENT. I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES BEFORE FRONTS. DEFECTIVE REAR BRAKE PADS. 2008 HONDA ACCORD COUPE EXL WITH 12K MILES. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN MAY 2008 AND ONLY HAS LITTLE OVER 12K MILES ON IT AND THE REAR BRAKE PADS ALREADY NEEDS CHANGING. I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND WAS TOLD THAT HONDA HAD BOUGHT ON SMALL PADS IN THE BACK BUT THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A FIX IN FOR THE SMALL PADS AND THE BRAKES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I ALSO DID A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND FOUND THAT A LOT OF CUSTOMERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THAT EITHER HONDA NEEDS TO FIND A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM BY DOING A RE-CALL ON ALL CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM OR THEY NEED TO COVER THE FIX UNDER WARRANTY. I DON'T THINK I OR ANY OTHER CONSUMER CAN AFFORD TO HAVE THEIR BRAKES FIX EVERY 12K MILES DURING THIS HARD ECONOMIC TIMES. MY HONDA ACCORD 08 STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND SHAKES AS WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE TRAVELING 60+ MILES ON THE FREEWAY. HEADLIGHTS, CABIN LIGHTS, BACK LIGHTS ALL DIM/FLICKER EVERY 20-30 SECONDS. SEEMS TO HAPPEN WITH DEFOGGER OR A/C IS RUNNING BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN AIR IS OFF. OTHER DRIVERS THINK I AM FLASHING THEM OR HITTING BRAKES. WAS TOLD CAR IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED TO HELP FUEL ECONOMY. I WISH I HAD TEST DROVE CAR AT NIGHT, WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THE CAR. *TR

THIS BRAKE ASSIST FEATURE IS CONTROLLED BY A SPECIAL LOGIC IN THE SYSTEM THAT DETERMINES WHEN THE PEDAL STROKE AND SPEED EXCEED A TYPICAL RANGE - AS THEY WOULD IN A PANIC STOP...VSA IS CALIBRATED TO FUNCTION IN A NEAR-TRANSPARENT MANNER, AND IN MANY CASES A DRIVER WILL NOT EVEN BE AWARE OF ITS OPERATION." WHEN DRIVING THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD TO REVERSE AND THEN ACCELERATE FORWARD, THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A NOISE (PRODUCING A DULL SOUND LIKE THUMP). PURCHASED CAR AND DROVE OFF THE HONDA LOT AS NEW CAR ON 4.3.2008. GRINDING SOUND AT REAR OF CAR NOTICED AT 17500 MILES ON OR ABOUT 1.01.2009. TOOK THE CAR INTO HONDA, THEY HAD TO REPLACE WORK REAR BRAKE PADS AT A COST OF $300. I COMPLAINED AND SAID IT WAS TOO SOON TO REPLACE THEM, HONDA SAID IT WAS WEAR AND TEAR AND I HAD TO PAY. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON AN INTERSTATE MY VEHICLE STRUCK A PATCH OF BLACK ICE. THE CAR'S VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST ENGAGED, BUT I WAS UNABLE TO GAIN CONTROL, THE VEHICLE SPUN REPEATEDLY AND LEFT THE ROADWAY, STRIKING A CULVERT AND CAUSING THE SIDE AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I FOUND OUT A WEEK AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK FROM REPAIRS THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY WORN DOWN TO METAL ON METAL WITH NO PRIOR WARNING AND AFTER ONLY APPROXIMATELY 22,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AND CONTRIBUTED TO MY ACCIDENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST AND BRAKE ASSIST FUNCTION WAS ENGAGED, I BELIEVE THE WORN STATE OF THE REAR BRAKES AS OPPOSED TO THE ALMOST NEW CONDITION OF THE FRONT BRAKES CAUSED THE BACK END OF MY CAR TO SWING AROUND AND SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 ACCORDS (ON THE INTERNET), BUT AMERCIAN HONDA HAS YET TO EVEN ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED IN THAT HIGH SPEED CRASH. FORTUNATELY, THE HONDA ENGINEERS THAT DESIGNED THE AIRBAGS PUT MORE THOUGHT INTO THEIR DESIGN THAN THE ENGINEERS THAT DESIGNED A REAR BRAKING SYSTEM THAT WEARS DOWN AFTER 20,000 MILES. I CURRENTLY HAVE ABOUT 57,000 MILES ON MY ACCORD AND HAVE NOW REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TWICE. *TR
I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD EXL-V6. THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR ARE UNSAFE AND HAVE FAILED REPEATED WITH PREMATURE WEAR ON BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD THE ENGINE FAILED AND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD LOST POWER AS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE ENTIRE CAR LOST FUNCTIONALITY INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE BUY TURNING OFF AND ON THE IGNITION KEY. *TR
MY DAUGHTER STARTED THE CAR, HER HUSBAND GOT IN & CLOSED THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR & THE CURTAIN AIR-BAGS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DEPLOYED. THE CAR IS A LEASED 2008 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN WITH APPROX 14,452 MILES. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO CORAL SPRINGS HONDA, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR INVESTIGATIVE TEAM HAD TO LOOK THE CAR OVER. THEIR FINAL STATEMENT IS THAT THE PASSENGER "SLAMMED" THE DOOR TO HARD AND IT CAUSED THE AIR-BAGS TO DEPLOY. IT IS PRETTY SCARY TO THINK THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN IF YOU SHOULD CLOSE YOUR DOOR TO HARD. THEY ARE ALSO STATING THAT IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO MY LEGAL RIGHTS. *TR

THE CAR IS VERY HARD TO BRAKE AND SALESMAN AT SOME OF THE HONDA DEALERSHIPS HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM BUT THEY DO NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I HAVE A 10 MONTH OLD CHILD AND THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS WITH THE ISSUE OF THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND THIS TO ME IS JUSTIFICATION FOR A RECALL OF THE YEAR OF HONDA ACCORDS AND JUST ABOUT EVERY OIL CHANGE THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED ON TOP OF HAVING TO PAY A HIGH CAR NOTE I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY CAR REPAIR CHARGES FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH SUDDENLY THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WELL WAS ENGULFED IN SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR FACILITY. THE MECHANIC STATED BOTH REAR BRAKE CALIPERS WERE STUCK IN THE ROTORS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ROTORS, BRAKE PADS, AND BRAKE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER CALLED 1/12 TO SAY THEY NEED TO ORDER A NEW TRANSMISSION AND COULD NOT SAY WHERE THEY WERE GOING TO GET IT. IT IS GOING ON 18 DAYS AND COUNTING AND DRIVING A RENTAL SINCE 12/31/08. *TR

MID-DECEMBER AT 28,000MI IN MY HONDA ACCORD, I STARTED HEARING GRINDING NOISES WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY; WENT TO THE HONDA DEALER SO THEY COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS GOING ON. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAD 1MM AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. A FEW DAYS LATER NOTICED SQUEAKY NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. BROUGHT CAR BACK AND FRONT PADS WERE REPLACED. A FEW DAYS AFTER THAT, NOISE CAME BACK, AND DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. TWO WEEKS LATER NOISE WAS BACK AGAIN AND NEED TO BRING BACK TO DEALERSHIP.
