WHEN THE RECALL FIRST CAME OUT, I CALLED AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT I WAS NOT PART TO OF THE RECALL. THIS WAS IN 2014 OR 15? THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE DEALER STATING THAT MY CAR COULD POSSIBLY BE PART OF THE RECALL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE LETTER SPECIFICALLY WAS INTENDED TO SELL ME A NEW CAR USING SCARE TACTICS. I SPOKE TO AMERICAN HONDA BECAUSE I WAS SO MAD AT THEM FOR TRYING TO SELL ME A NEW CAR, BASED ON FEAR AND THEY ONCE AGAIN PROMISED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND OFFERED ME A $200 GIFT CARD. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A LETTER DATED JULY 2016 STATING THAT IN FACT MY CAR IS PART OF THE RECALL, AND INSTRUCTING ME TO NOT HAVE, " ANY PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL REPAIR." NOW MY CAR IS IN MY GARAGE SINCE JULY UNDRIVEABLE. I CANNOT DRIVE MY FAMILY ANYWHERE AND THE CAR SITS. THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL FIX IT. THE DEALER HAS LIED TO ME FROM DAY ONE OF THE RECALL AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME TO NOT HAVE PASSENGERS SIT IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. WHAT ABOUT THE DRIVER? TECHNICALLY, THE DRIVER ISN'T SAFE EITHER ACCORDING TO THE LETTER. I NEED HELP. I AM WITHOUT A CAR.

AIRBAG (UNKNOWN WHETHER TAMARA) RECALL: REC'D LETTER FROM AMERICAN HONDA DATED JULY 2016 NOTIFYING ME OF RECALL AND SAYING "HONDA WILL SEND YOU ANOTHER LETTER WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE...". AS OF TODAY (12/27/16) I'VE RECEIVED NOTHING, SO I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER - LARRY HOPKINS HONDA; SUNNYVALE CA. WAS TOLD THEY HAVE PARTS; HAVE HAD THEM FOR A WHILE! - BUT NEXT APPOINTMENT ISN'T UNTIL MARCH 16. WAS ALSO THEY COULD HAVE GOT ME IN SOONER HAD I CALLED SOONER ! WHY WASN'T I NOTIFIED SOONER BY AMERICAN HONDA? I REGULARLY TRANSPORT A 95 YEAR OLD MOTHER, AS WELL AS A DISABLED BROTHER.
MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD WAS PURCHASED BY OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER OFF THE LOT BRAND NEW. VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS A GOOD VEHICLE AND NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS. IT WAS IN A MINOR CRASH AND HAD SOME OF THE FRAME READJUSTED. RECENTLY, (WITHIN 6 MONTHS) I HAVE NOTICED THE VEHICLE CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN USUAL. I FOLLOWED UP WITH HONDA TO SEE WHAT I COULD DO WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY NOTICE I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE VEHICLE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY STATED THAT THE PISTON RINGS MAY BE STICKING MORE THAN USUAL AND THE VEHICLE COULD BE CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN NORMAL. THE WARRANTY STATED IT WAS GOOD FOR UP TO 8 YEARS FROM THE PURCHASE OR 125,000 MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. AT THE TIME THE HONDA WAS AT 134,000 MILES. HONDA TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND ASK HOW TO START THE PROCESS ON THE PISTON RINGS. THE LOCAL DEALER STATED THEY NEEDED TO START WITH AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH AN OIL CHANGE, THEN I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK AFTER 1,000 MILES FOR THEM TO TRACK THE OIL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND WAS DEALT WITH MORE BAD NEWS. THE LOCAL DEALER STATED THAT I COULD NOT START THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST UNTIL I FIXED TWO OTHER OIL LEAKS THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE HAS A VALVE GASKET LEAK WHICH ALSO NEEDED A VALVE ADJUSTMENT AS WELL AS A CRANK SEAL LEAK. THE LOCAL DEALER QUOTED ME THAT THE VALVE GASKET WOULD COST $225, THE VALVE ADJUSTMENT WOULD BE $325, AND THE CRANK SEAL LEAK WOULD BE $245. EVERYWHERE I HAVE HEARD OTHERWISE THE COST OF THESE FIXES WOULD BE MUCH MORE THAN I WAS QUOTED. AFTER RECEIVING THIS NEWS I CALLED HONDA AGAIN TO CREATE A CLAIM. I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SPEAK TO MY CASE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE STICKING PISTON RINGS COULD HAVE LEAD TO THE TWO OTHER LEAKS MY VEHICLE IS HAVING. I FEEL AS THOUGH HONDA NEEDS TO COVER THE COSTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SEEING AS THOUGH THE PISTON RINGS ARE AN ISSUE. *TR

TAKATA RECALL HAVE ATTEMPTED BOTH WITH LOCAL DEALER AND HEADQUARTERS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT MY AIRBAG AND THE COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN WILLING TO HELP. I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA ACCORD FROM AUTOPARK HONDA IN CARY, NC SEVERAL YEARS AGO. A FEW MONTHS AGO I LOOKED ON RECALL.GOV TO SEE IF THE AIRBAG INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL. RECALL.GOV LISTED IT AS UNDER RECALL. I CONTACTED AUTOPARK ABOUT THIS. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I ASKED WHY IT WAS SHOWING ON THE GOVERNMENT LISTING AND THEY DID NOT KNOW. I ASKED IF ONE OF THE TAKATA AIRBAGS UNDER RECALL (WHICH ARE DANGEROUS TO HAVE IN THE VEHICLE) WAS INSTALLED IN MY CAR. THEY WERE UNABLE TO TELL ME AND DECLINED TO LOOK INTO IT. SO, I WROTE A LETTER TO HONDA'S CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS (IN TORRANCE, CA) EXPLAINING AND ASKING IF ONE OF THE RECALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS WAS INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE. THEY SENT ME A FORM LETTER IN RETURN. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT AIRBAG IS INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE (MAKE, MODEL) AND WHETHER IT IS ONE OF THE MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAGS. IF IT IS, I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET IT REPLACED IN A TIMELY MANNER. I FEEL HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO ME. I FILED THIS COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB A WHILE AGO AND YET HONDA STILL WON'T PROVIDE ME WITH THIS INFORMATION. RECENTLY, MY CAR STARTED CONSUME TOO MUCH OIL. TO FIX THAT,DEALERSHIP ADVISED TO REPLACE PISTON RINGS FOR BETTER RESULT. AFTER WE HAVE NEW PISTON RINGS, IN A MONTH AND SO ENGINE IS MAKING GRINDING NOISE WHILE STARTING. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WASN'T HAPPENED DUE TO PISTON RINGS REPLACEMENT. BUT WE DON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM BEFORE AND NOW DEALERSHIP CAN CHARGE US UP TO $700 FOR NEW PART .
TAKATA RECALL, I'VE BEEN WAITING 5-6 MONTHS FOR THE DEALER TO FIX THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THEY'VE NOT RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT PART YET. I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR WITH A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SAFELY. WILL HONDA PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR? APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS MESS... THANKS
AFTER PULLING INTO A SHOPPING AREA PARKING LOT, WITH THE CAR STATIONARY AND THE ENGINE OFF, THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPEN TRAPPING US IN THE CAR IN THE SUNLIGHT OF A 90 DEGREE DAY, PRESSING THE KEY UNLOCK ACTUATOR TO UNLOCK THE DOORS BY USING THE KEY UNLOCK BUTTON FAILS TO UNLOCK THE DOORS THEREBY PREVENTING THE OCCUPANTS FROM GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE AND HAS SUBJECTED MY WIFE AND I TO BEING TRAPPED IN THE CAR IN RAPIDLY RISING HEAT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES UNTIL AFTER REPEATEDLY PRESSING THE KEY UNLOCK BUTTON THE DOORS UNLOCK. THE CAR IS NOT CAPABLE OF STARTING DURING THIS TIME. THIS FRIGHTENING CIRCUMSTANCE HAS NOW HAPPENED A FEW TIMES - NOT COMFORTABLE FOR TWO PEOPLE IN THEIR SEVENTIES.

MY CAR IS BURNING 1-2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IS NORMAL EVEN THOUGH THE OIL LIGHT IS COMING. MY CAR IS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD EQUIPPED WITH FEDERAL SUPER STEEL 657 TIRES, SIZE 215/60/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW UP AND CREATED A HOLE IN THE TIRE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES PREVIOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
THIS IS A 2009 VEHICLE AND I WAS NOTIFIED AUGUST 2015 OF A OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL BUT ASK THAT YOU HAVE 125,000 MILES OR LESS TO FIX HOWEVER WHEN YOU NOTIFY A CONSUMER 7 YEARS AFTER IT HAS BEEN SOLD NOT TO HAVE THAT MANY MILES I BELIEVE IT'S VERY UNFAIR TO THE CONSUMER BECAUSE THIS IS A PROBLEM I HAVE HAD THIS THIS VEHICLE SINCE IVE OWNED IT AND NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO FIX IT BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC AMOUNT NOTED ON HOW MUCH OIL CONSUMPTION THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE AND HONDA DEALERSHIP IS USING THAT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE AND ASK THAT I HAVE 3/4 OF A QUART OF OIL CONSUMPTION BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN CONSIDER WHICH IS SO UNREALISTIC.
IN APRIL OF 2016, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I HEARD THE FAN STILL RUNNING. I ALSO SMELLED ANTIFREEZE. FOLLOWING ADVICE FROM A MECHANIC, I CHECKED THE FLUIDS TO LEARN THAT THERE WAS NO ANTIFREEZE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO REPAIR SHOPS. BOTH PUT A PRESSURE TEST ON THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT IT WAS HOLDING PRESSURE. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ON A FRIDAY WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I TOLD THEM THAT I SMELLED ANTI-FREEZE BUT DID NOT SEE ANY LEAKING UNDER THE CAR. FRIDAY, MARCH 25TH I ACCELERATED QUICKLY INTO A LEFT TURN FROM A DEAD STOP AT CHURCH STREET AND RT 20 IN NORTHBOROUGH, MA AND THE ACCELERATOR STUCK IN THE FULL THROTTLE POSITION. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE THROTTLE AND APPLIED BREAKS HEAVILY BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV, I REACHED DOWN TO TURN THE KEY AND KILL THE ENGINE BUT BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO DO THAT THERE WAS A LARGE CLUNKING NOISE AND THE THROTTLE RELEASED TO IDLE. A SIMILAR ISSUE HAPPENED TODAY AS I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY (190 SOUTH) AT THE 140 SOUTH INTERSECTION. THE HIGHWAY ENTRANCE AND BOTH LANES WERE EMPTY SO I STOMPED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO SEE IF FRIDAY'S ISSUE WAS A FLUKE - THE THROTTLE STUCK AGAIN. I TAPPED THE BREAKS BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO WATCH THE TACHOMETER REV UP TO 5,000 RPMS AND IT RELEASED ON ITS OWN. IN BOTH SITUATIONS THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON WAS ON BUT NOT ENGAGED.

IN REGARDS TO HONDA SAFETY RECALL JN9. WARRANTY EXTENSION: STICKING PISTONS RINGS RESULTING IN HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN THOUSAND OAKS, CA. STARTING BACK IN DECEMBER 28 2015. THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THAT LASTED 3,000 MILES ON THE ROAD AND HAD ME COME IN EVERY 1000 MILES OF THOSE 3K MILES. EVERY OIL CONSUMPTION EVALUATION AT THE DESIGNED MARK IS BURNING THROUGH 1.2 QT OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THEY CLAIM THAT IS STANDARD FOR THE CAR TO BURN THAT MUCH OIL. MY OLD 2003 V8 GMC YUKON DOES NOT BURN ANY OIL AT ALL. JUT LAST WEEK ON JULY 19TH 2016 MY OIL ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEY (DEALER) TOP ME OFF WITH ANOTHER 1.2 QT OF OIL OFF THE RECORDS. TAKATA RECALL. I OWN A 2009 HONDA ACCORD 2-DR AND THE RECALL IS APPLIED TO THE 4-DR ONLY. HOWEVER, I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE MY CAR'S ISSUE BETTER THAN THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (I-35) WITH APPROX. 65 MPH, GOING STRAIGHT NOT TURNING IN ANY WAY. I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP NOISE AND MY PASSENGER'S SEAT AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. HONESTLY, IT'S VERY HARD TO TELL IF I RAN OVER A POTHOLE OR IF I HIT A ROCK BECAUSE THE LOUD NOISE AND MY SHOCK DOMINATED THE MOMENT. THANKFULLY, I WAS COMMUTING ALONE THAT DAY AND NOBODY GOT HURT. I STOPPED THE CAR TO INSPECT IT AND I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. I FILLED A CLAIM WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST HONDA CENTER FOR A DIAGNOSIS ($120). HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUESTED THAT ONE OF THEIR FIELD ENGINEERS INSPECTED THE CAR. AFTER HIS INSPECTION, HE DETERMINED THAT AN IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. WHEN I REQUESTED TO SEE THE IMPACT SIGNS, THEY POINTED A SCRATCH ON THE FRAME RAIL. THEY SAID THAT THE SCRATCH SEEMS MINOR ONLY BECAUSE IT HAPPENED ON THE TOUGHEST PART OF THE CAR, THE FRAME RAIL. THAT SCRATCH IS ALMOST UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SENSOR. I ASKED FOR MORE INFORMATION, SUCH AS THE THRESHOLD WHEN AN AIRBAG DEPLOYS, HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT THIS SCRATCH WAS NOT THERE BEFORE, ETC. THEY DIDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, INSTEAD THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SCRATCH WAS "FRESH". I'M ATTACHING THE PICTURES OF THE SCRATCH ON THE FRAME RAIL. IT'S NOT VERY OBVIOUS BUT LOOK AT THE SILVER SCRAPE. I DECIDED TO TAKE MY CAR TO MY INSURANCE (PROGRESSIVE). THEY WERE BAFFLED WITH WHAT THEY SAW AND THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT SUCH SCRATCH WOULD CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE ESTIMATOR HELPING ME WASN'T SURE IF THEY'LL COVER IT. HE'LL ELEVATE THE ISSUE AND CALL ME ON MONDAY. HONDA DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THIS AS A DEFECT SINCE THEY FOUND A SCRATCH.
