IN NOVEMBER, I PURCHASED 4 NEW CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS FOR MY CAR. IN MARCH, DURING POTHOLE SEASON, I QUICKLY LEARNED THAT THESE NEW TIRES HAVE SOFT SIDEWALLS AND EASILY DEVELOP SIDEWALL BUBBLES. I HAD TO REPLACE TWO OF THE TIRES DURING THIS TIME PERIOD. I'VE NEVER - IN MY 15 YEARS OF DRIVING - HAD TO REPLACE A TIRE DUE TO A SIDEWALL BUBBLE. CURIOUS, I TYPED "CONTINENTAL DWS SIDEWALL BUBBLE" INTO GOOGLE AND FOUND ONLINE FORUMS LOADED WITH FOLKS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S PRETTY CLEAR BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE, AND ONLINE REPORTS FROM OTHERS, THAT THE CONTINENTAL DWS TIRES HAVE WEAKER THAN USUAL SIDEWALLS, AND DEVELOP BUBBLES AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE THAN OTHER TIRES. AFTER SPENDING SO MUCH ON TIRES WITHIN A SIX MONTH PERIOD, I ASKED CONTINENTAL TO REPLACE JUST ONE OF THE TIRES UNDER WARRANTY (THE TIRE SHOP HAD MERCY AND REPLACED ONE FOR FREE!). CONTINENTAL'S INITIAL WARRANTY INCLUDES ROAD HAZARD PROTECTION FOR THE FIRST 2/10THS OF WEAR, WHICH THIS TIRE EASILY FELL UNDER. AFTER MEETING ALL OF CONTINENTAL'S REQUIREMENTS FOR THE WARRANTY INFORMATION, THEY HAVE STOPPED RESPONDING TO MY CUSTOMER SERVICE INQUIRIES. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE THREE WEEKS TO RECEIVE A CHECK. IT'S BEEN THREE MONTHS. PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE SIDEWALL ISSUES OF THESE TIRES. IT IS CLEARLY A KNOWN ISSUE, AND CONTINENTAL REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY - EVEN WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! ON 3/18/15 I TOOK OUR 2010 HONDA ACCORD WITH 28,037 MILES TO SUBURBAN HONDA IN FARMINGTON HILLS,MI FOR A OIL CHANGE,THE SERVICE MANAGER NOTIFIED ME THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR PADS HAVE WORN OUT TO THE POINT OF WEARING OUT THE ROTOR BEYOND TURNING TO REPAIR,AND I NEED A NEW CALIPER THAT AS WE KNOW MUST BE REPLACED IN PAIRS. HIS PRICE FOR REPAIRS WAS $1027.60 + TAX =$1089.26 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD AUTO REPAIR FACILITY AND HAD ALL NEW PADS,ROTORS AND CALIPERS REPLACED FOR $650.04 THIS COSTLY EXPENSE AT THIS LOW MILEAGE OF A BRAND NEW VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE,HOW MANY OTHER TRUSTING CUSTOMERS BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND HAD THE SAME OR SIMILAR REAR BRAKE FAIL AS WELL. THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL POPPING NOISE WHEN THE SPEED DECREASED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE IPM MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO HERB CHAMBERS, SEEKONK, MA, AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE SAFETY HARNESS THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PART AS THERE WAS A SHORTAGE OF THESE PARTS AVAILABLE. IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS TO GET THE PART. IT HAS BEEN APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V00400 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE AT HONOLULU, HI, HONDA PFLUGER (NOW PACIFIC HONDA). WITH THE PROPER MAINTENANCE, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMING SATISFACTORILY UNTIL NOW. ONLY MINOR DEFECTS WERE NOTED, SUCH AS BATTERY REPLACEMENT WITHIN THE 3-YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WARRANTY. ON 01/08/15, WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALER IN AUSTIN, TX, BECAUSE, FOR THE LAST THREE WEEKS, WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS SAT FOR A WHILE, THE BREAKS WILL NOT WORK WHEN BACKING UP: THE PEDDLE GOES ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN AND STICKS, WILL NOT GO BACK NOR DOWN, AND THE HAND BREAK HAD TO BE PULLED UP TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ORDER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TESTED, WE LEFT OUR VEHICLE AT HOWDY HONDA. THE NEXT DAY, THE MAINTENANCE CONSULTANT INFORMED US THAT THE BREAK MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER, AND THAT A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH PART WOULD BE NECESSARY. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD BE $946.00, PLUS TAXES, BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT COVERED BY THE VEHICLE?S WARRANTY. ON THE HONDA WARRANTY BOOKLET, THE AFOREMENTIONED PART IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF NON-COVERED PARTS (PAGE 9); THE MALFUNCTION HAS NOT BEEN CAUSED BY THE IMPROPER USE OF OUR CAR: WE HAVE NEVER USED IT FOR BUSINESS OR UNUSUAL SPORT OR OTHER ACTIVITIES; THE MASTER CYLINDER IS THE ORIGINAL PART INSTALLED BY HONDA; AND NO THIRD-PARTY TECHNICIAN HAS EVER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT. THE DEFECT IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER IS VERY UNUSUAL; ALMOST ANY 2010 HONDA ACCORD WITH 31,409 MILES SHOWS THIS KIND OF ISSUE. HENCE, WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER MALFUNCTION IS A CASE OF A PART THAT IS DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP UNDER NORMAL USE. FURTHERMORE, THE ABOVE DESCRIBED PART MALFUNCTION REPRESENTS AN ENORMOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHICH POTENTIAL PERSONAL, PHYSICAL, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGES AGAINST US AND THIRD PARTIES. IT WAS A COLD WINTER MORNING, 9 DEGREES TO BE EXACT. I'M IN THE CAR WITH MY 2YR OLD DAUGHTER. I PULL OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT, I MAKE IT 50 FEET AND THE BRAKES BEGIN TO FAIL. IM PUMPING THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN DUE TO A CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AT A STAND STILL. I HIT THE BRAKES A SECOND AND THIRD TIME I GLIMPSE DOWN WONDERING WHY IS THE CAR NOT SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING I CONTINUE STOMPING ONTO THE BRAKE. I STARTED TO SCREAM IN REALIZATION THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. I COLLIDE INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR THAT WAS AT A STAND STILL. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I WAS NOT EVEN A FULL 2 BLOCKS AWAY FROM MY HOME I COULD NOT COMPREHEND HOW MY BRAKES JUST FAILED AFTER I REPEATEDLY PRESSED DOWN ON THEM. I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM VACATION AND CONTACTED DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM. WAS INFORMED THAT HONDA ISSUED A TSB FOR FOULED PLUGS. DROVE 290 MILES HOME AS ALL DEALERSHIPS WERE CLOSED. *JS
TODAY I WENT TO START MY CAR AND NOTICED THAT MY MILEAGE CHANGED FROM 45,000 TO 700,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS DURING ICY ROAD CONDITIONS, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE OTHER VEHICLE SPUN AND CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND THEN STRUCK A POLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE BRAIN, THE CHEST, THE EARS, AND THE BODY, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT ALSO LOST THE SENSE TO SMELL DUE TO THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. CAR WAS BOUGHT 2 YEARS OLD, BREAKS STARTED TO MAKE A SCRATCHING NOISE IN 2014 AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE HONDA DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR, THEY SUCKED US IN AND MADE US PAY OVER $1,000 FOR NEW BREAKS, ROTORS, CALIPERS ETC. APRIL 2016 THE CAR WAS STARTED ONE MORNING, IMMEDIATELY THE NOISE I HEARD IN 2014 I HEARD AGAIN BUT MUCH WORSE. THE NOISE HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS IDLING. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, THIS MECHANIC TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW BREAKS, ROTORS, CALIPERS ETC. THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAD IN 2014. THE DEALER KNEW ABOUT THESE HONDA'S HAVING A BREAK ISSUE, WONDERING WHY MY DEALER DID NOT MENTION THIS.

COMPLAINANT DID NOT WITNESS ANY OBJECT HITTING SUN ROOF, NOR DID SUN ROOF HAVE PRIOR DAMAGE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SEMI-TRUCK ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY, MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD V6 LOST POWER A FEW MINUTES AFTER ACCELERATION. THE TRUCK DRIVER PROBABLY FELT THAT I WAS BEING RUDE AND SLAMMING ON MY BREAKS, BUT I WAS TRYING TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD BECAUSE MY CAR WAS LOSING POWER. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN HONDA MAKES/MODELS. UPON REVIEW OF THE VEHICLE, THE SHOP FOUND OIL IN ALL THREE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD IS PART OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR MISFIRE AND OIL CONSUMPTION (LEAKAGE). I CALLED HONDA AMERICA AND NOTIFIED THE COMPANY ABOUT THE ISSUE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THE INDEPENDENT SHOP THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. I ASKED IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE ISSUES IDENTIFIED IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BOTH STATED THEY COULDN'T UNDERSTAND "WHY OIL WOULD BE IN THE CONVERTERS". I HAVE USED THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR ALL WORK MINUS THE ALTERNATOR (2 WEEKS AGO). A NEW SHORTBLOCK WAS INSTALLED 20K MILES AGO (PART OF THE MISFIRE/OIL ISSUE). MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE SITUATION OF LOSING POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF ACCELERATION. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TODAY (AND I DID NOT HAVE A SOLID YELLOW LINE WHEN I WAS PASSING - PRETTY MUCH A STRAIGHT AWAY). I TOLD HONDA AMERICA THEY NEEDED TO LOOK INTO THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE ISSUES WITH THE 2010 HONDA ACCORD V6 GOES BEYOND MISFIRE AND OIL CONSUMPTION. I ATTEMPTED TO GOOGLE ACCIDENTS AND ISSUES WITH 2010 HONDA ACCORDS. ON MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD, OCCURRING ON ALL FOUR DOORS, THE WINDOW SWEEPS ARE MELTING. THESE ARE THE STRIPS THAT KEEP WATER FROM RUNNING DOWN, INTO THE DOOR WELLS FROM THE CLOSED WINDOWS. THE RUBBER STRIPS WERE REPLACED A FEW YEARS AGO UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM. LAST FALL, THE NEW SWEEPS STARTED TO ALSO MELT DOWN TO A RUBBERY TAR-LIKE CONSISTENCY. I COMPLAINED TO HONDA ABOUT THIS DEFECT TO NO AVAIL. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR NEW SWEEPS AND FOR THEM TO BE INSTALLED. THE IMPRESSION THAT I RECEIVED FROM THE SERVICE PERSON WAS THAT IN WARMER CLIMATE AREAS THIS IS A PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THE NEWER HONDA VEHICLES ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS AND HONDA IS NOT CONCERNED WITH THE SITUATION. WHEN STARTING THE CAR AT A COLD START, YOU HEAR A LOUD GRINDING NOISE SOUNDS FOR 2 OR 5 SECONDS. THERE IS A TSB 09-010 REGARDING A VTC ACTUATOR THAT DRAINS OF OIL AND IS NOT PROPERLY LUBED WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE COLD, CAUSING THE GRINDING NOISE UNTIL OIL REACHES THE PART AGAIN. GRINDING NOISES IN AN ENGINE ARE BAD, AND COULD LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE SHOULD THE ABRASIVE METALLIC PARTS (DUE TO GRINDING WHEN THERE IS NO OIL IN THE ACTUATOR) BECOMING LODGED. THIS ENGINE FAILURE COULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, POSSIBLY IN A HIGHWAY LANE. WHILE MY CAR ENGINE HAS NOT YET SEIZED, THERE ARE ONLINE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING. CURRENTLY, HONDA WILL ONLY FIX THIS ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ALSO GIVE THE CAR OWNER A REALLY HARD TIME PROVING THE ISSUE, REQUIRING THE CAR BE LEFT AT A DEALERSHIP OVERNIGHT TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. A LOANER VEHICLE IS AT YOUR EXPENSE. IF THE CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILL IS AT YOUR EXPENSE. IF YOUR CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE NOISE, BOTH THE LOANER CAR AND DIAGNOSTIC FEE ARE AT YOUR EXPENSE. THIS GREATLY REDUCES THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WILLING AND ABLE TO HAVE THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE FIXED. RUNNING ENGINE COMPONENTS WITHOUT OIL SHOULD BE A RECALL. WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 4, ANTIOCH, CA. MY WIFE AND I HEARD THIS LOUD EXPLOSION ON THE ROOF OF OUR CAR. SCARED THE[XXX] OUT OF US. WE PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY, GOT OUT AND CHECKED THE ROOF. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO HAVE THEM REPLACED - UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT, AND HOW MUCH TIME AND MONEY DO I HAVE TO WASTE, AND BEFORE SOMEONE TRIES TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE CAR IS GOING THRU BRAKES- MAYBE GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT? I'VE OWNED MY ACCORD FOR 4 YRS & I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS W/ AFTERMARKET PADS. SINCE I HAVE LITTLE RECOURSE OTHER THAN TO WRITE HONDA OR GO TO THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPT, I OPTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE W/ OTHER CONSUMERS, RATHER THEN REMAIN SILENT & FRUSTRATED. I DOUBT I'LL MAKE ANY PROGRESS W/ CONTACTING HONDA. I TRULY ENJOY MY HONDA ACCORD & ITS PERFORMANCE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED W/ HONDA & THEIR LACK OF COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION & RESOLVING AN INFERIOR PART ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AS NOTED W/ ALL THE ONLINE CUSTOMER DOCUMENTATION. HONDA HAS FORCED THEIR CUSTOMERS TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE, REFUSING TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF A COSTLY, EXTREMELY, PREMATURE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR. *TR
