ISSUE STARTED MARCH 29TH APPROX. 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX WITH 68,000 MILES 1 OWNER (ME). TRIED TURNING ON CAR AND JUST CLICKED. FINALLY CAME ON AFTER 5 ATTEMPTS.TOOK TO MECHANIC AND QUOTED ME $600 FOR STARTER. DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY SO I KEPT HAVING ISSUE UNTIL IT JUST STOPPED TURNING ON. HAD MY STARTER REPLACED.
INTERMITTENT STARTER PROBLEM WITH SEPARATE KEY FOBS SOME TIMES STARTS FINE OTHERS IT DOESN'T
OUR 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX HAS BEEN REGULARLY EXPERIENCING STARTER ISSUES. WHEN STARTING THE CAR FROM "PARK," THE CAR WILL CLICK AS THOUGH THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR HAVE CHECKED OUT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT, AND AT THE FIVE YEAR MARK, WE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING STARTER ISSUES. SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN SHARED ONLINE IN FORUMS, VIDEOS, ETC. THE ISSUE IS NOW BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND MORE SERIOUS. HONDA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL LIKE THEY DID FOR THE 2013 ACCORD STARTERS!
CAR JUST TURNED 5 YEARS OLD WITH 85,000 MILES AND THE CAR WON'T START. I WAS ALMOST STRANDED AT THE COFFEE SHOP WHEN AFTER THE 12TH TIME TRYING TO START CAR IT STARTED. WHEN KEY TURNED NOTHING HAPPENS. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO DEALER WHERE TOLD ME THE STARTER IS NO GOOD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL PROBABLY NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA. I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT A HONDA BECAUSE THEY WERE KNOWN FOR THEIR RELIABILITY BUT A $700 ISSUE ON A 5 YEAR OLD CAR IS NOT RELIABLE. I WOULD'VE BOUGHT A CHEVY IF THAT'S WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. WHEN I BOUGHT THE HONDA I WAS TOLD BY SALESMAN I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING UNTIL 300,000 MILES. WELL I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO 100,000 MILES.
THIS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY VEHICLE HAS HAD SOME ODD PROBLEMS, SOME THAT MADE THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE, 1) AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH MELTED ONTO COMPRESSOR. FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. 2) TIMING BELT TENSIONER LEAKED FLUID, FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. 3) DEALER DIAGNOSED ABS MODULE FAULT. AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE. CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED EVERY OTHER ELECTRONIC SAFETY SYSTEM IN THE CAR TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. OPENED A CASE WITH AMERICAN HONDA WHO DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. THESE UNITS FAIL RARELY AND SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PART (36,000 MILE 3-YR WARRANTY) WAS EVEN BACK ORDERED FROM THE MANUFACTURER. FOR EXAMPLE, ONLY 1 UNIT WAS REPLACED IN ATLANTA, GA SINCE 2014, THEY WANTED ALMOST $1,600 TO FIX THE ISSUE. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SPECIALIST WHO FIXED IT FOR UNDER $600 BY FINDING A USED PART. I THINK HONDA SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ACCOMMODATING AND CONCERNED. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED THE ABS, LDW, FCW, AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS TO EVENTUALLY FAIL. LITERALLY, I WAS LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T GET IN A BAD ACCIDENT AS THE ABS WAS ACTUALLY FUNCTIONING (THE DAY A CAR TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME) AND SAVED ME FROM SKIDDING INTO AND T-BONING ANOTHER CAR. BUT ALL THESE ODD ISSUES JUST LEAVES ME WONDERING... WHEN'S THE NEXT WEIRD PROBLEM GOING TO POP UP?
THE CAR WILL NOT START FROM THE FIRST PUSH OF STARTING BUTTON WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. IT TAKES AT LEAST 3 TIMES TO START THE CART. I CHANGED THE BATTERY AND BATTERY FOR KEYS. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY THE PROBLEM OF NOT STARTING FROM FIRST TIME STILL HAPPENED.
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
I MAY HAVE CLICKED THE WRONG SUBJECT BUT MY STARTER HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS AND I GOOGLED I AND SAW THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE STARTER
WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR, IT WON'T TURN ON, LIKE THE BATTERY IS DEAD OR I NEED A NEW STARTER. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS EVERYDAY. BEFORE IT WAS EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE. THE CONTACT WHO WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED AND PROVIDED THE SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
ELECTRONIC START BUTTON DOES NOT WORK INTERMITTENTLY. BATTERY IS FINE. POWER TO CAR TURNS ON BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER. NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE BY 2014 HONDA ACCORD OWNERS.
BACKUP CAMERA IS NOW BLACK AND NOT WORKING AT ALL. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS DARK AND PIXELATED THEY OFFERED TO CHARGE ME OVER $400 TO JUST REPLACE IT. NOW WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE THE CAMERA IS BLACK, IT HAS STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. THE 2 LINES STILL SHOW UP ON THE SCREEN, SO THE SCREEN IS NOT AN ISSUE BUT NO VIDEO. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO NOW WHEN I PUT MY BLINKER ON THE SIDE CAMERA SEEMS TO ROLL , LIKE AN OLD TV HORIZONTAL HOLD, BEFORE IT BECOMES CLEAR
THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY HAS A BLACK SCREEN AND NO IMAGE OF WHAT'S BEHIND THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES IT COMES BACK ON BUT IS FUZZY AND BLURRY. IT THEN GOES BACK TO BLACK. IN BOTH CASES THE REAR BACK UP CAMERA FEATURE IS USELESS AND CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER. ADDITIONALLY THE SEAT MEMORY FEATURE HAS GONE OUT AS WELL. IT NO LONGER REMEMBERS THE LOCATION FOR DRIVER 1 OR DRIVER 2. THE MOVEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS ALSO AFFECTED AND DOES NOT MOVE CONTINUOUSLY WHEN THE CONTROLS ARE ENGAGED. THIS AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND PROPER SEAT LOCATION AND VIEWPOINT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR BODY AND OTHER REPAIRS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD SPORT (72,000 MILES) HAS INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START CAR, THERE WILL BE NO SOUNDS OR CLICKS, BUT ALL OF THE LIGHTS ENGAGE AS IF THE BETTER IS FULLY CHARGED. THEN AFTER 3-4 ATTEMPTS THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER AND START AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG AT ALL. MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP SEEMS TO THINK THIS IS A STARTER ISSUE, BUT THIS DOES NOT SEEM LIKE A NORMAL STARTER PROBLEM AS IT IS VERY INTERMITTENT AND MAKES NOT CLICKING SOUND. HAVE HAD ISSUE FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS NOW.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE STARTER WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE FAILURE RECURRED A THIRD TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK THE CAR HAS STALLED TWICE. VERY SCARY SITUATION. IT GIVES NO WARNING, HE SAID.
FOR MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2014, I STARTED HAVING STARTER ISSUES AFTER ABOUT 52K MILES. I WAS SURPRISED BECAUSE GENERALLY A STARTER IS SUPPOSED TO BE A LONG LASTING PART. HONDA DEALER DID NOT COVER IT STATING ITS PAST CARS WARRANTY. I DID CONTACT HONDA AND THEY ARE ALSO SAYING CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT CASE MAY BE REVIEWED BUT THAT MOSTLY IT'S NOT COVERED. I ALSO CHECKED ONLINE AND A LOT OF OTHER ACCORD OWNERS ALSO HAD SIMILAR ISSUES AND THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN THIS REGARD.
This generation of Honda has known issue with the push start button to start the car. It sometimes take 3 to 4 or more attempts to start the car successfully. It has a grinding/whirring sound when the engine failed to start. I think it’s a clearance issue between the engine flywheel/torque converter and the starter motor that cause the engine failed to start. I strongly believe Honda should have a recall on this issue to resolve the clearance issue because it’s clearly the engineering design flaw on Honda.
OUR CAR HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT AND THE STARTER WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ACCORDING THE INTERNET THAT ISEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT OCCURS QUIET OFTEN. IT COST AROUND $500.00 TO FIX IT AND IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED AT THAT LOW A MILEAGE. WITH THIS PROBLEM HAPPENING SO OFTEN IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH HONDAS. THE CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE WHEN IT HAPPENED BUT WE HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEARLERSHIP 2 TIMES TELLING THEM THE INDICATOR LIGHTS SAID STARTER PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT STOPS. THAT WAS VERY UPSETTING BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWHERE. I AM 83 YEARS OLD AND WOULD HAVE BEEN IN TROUBLE IF IT HAPPENED AWAY FROM HOME, WE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WERE ALSO VERY RUDE TO US BECAUSE WE ARE OLD SAYING DO YOU KNOW YOU MUST PRESS THE BRAKE IN TO START IT? THEN SAYING MAYBE YOU SHOULD PRESS HARDER. THAT RESPONSE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO A MIDDLE AGE GENTLEMAN.
MY CAR WOULD NOT START. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW STARTER. THE CAR IS NOT MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD AND ONLY 47,000 IN MILEAGE. POOR HONDA! I'D LIKE A MORE RELIABLE CAR THAT WILL NOT KEEP ME STRANDED.

WHENEVER I START THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE STARTER AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER. I HAVE CHANGED THE STARTER 4 TIMES IN SPAN OF 3 YEARS PERIOD I HAVE HAD THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL MECHANIC AND EACH OF THEM TELL ME IT'S THE STARTER AND THE FLYWHEEL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO FIX IT AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE FLYWHEEL ISSUE. THE TECH TOLD ME IT WAS A PROBLEM KNOWN TO 2013-2015 HONDA ACCORD. I ASKED THE DEALERS TO AGREE TO FIXING THE STARTER AND ANY OTHER ISSUES RELATING TO THE STARTER BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS BUT THE REFUSED. I HAVE 2 OF MY COLLEAGUES WITH THE SAME 2014 HONDA ACCORD WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THE ISSUE STARTED 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2018 AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP.
STARTER MOTOR WOULD NOT START VEHICLE AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES. PROBLEM KEPT GETTING WORST UNTIL IT TOOK ABOUT 10-12 ATTEMPTS BEORE IT WOULD START. DEALER A ONE TIME GOOD FAITH REPLACEMENT AND CHARGED A $106.00 FEE. PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED FOR NOW. CAR HAD ABOUT 53K MILES.
I WAS DRIVING IN MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD. I BEGAN TO FEEL WHAT I WOULD DESCRIBE AS "TREMORS" AS I WAS ACCELERATING THE CAR. I WAS GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH. THE TREMORS WOULD OCCUR FOR A BIT THEN THE FEEL OF THE DRIVE WAS NORMAL. THIS OCCURRED ON AND OFF OVER THE NEXT 2-3 MILES. I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED, MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL, NOT WHILE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. IT JUST WOULDN'T MOVE. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. ONCE HONDA EVALUATED THE CAR AFTER CHARGING A $130 "DIAGNOSTIC" FEE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALERSHIP'S DISTRICT(?) SERVICE MANAGER TO "SEE WHAT HONDA WANTS TO DO ABOUT IT". THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE COST OF THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT WOULD BE $4,386.80 AND THAT HONDA WAS AGREEING TO COVER 60% OF THE COST AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING 40% OF THE COSTS, WHICH AMOUNTED TO $1,826.88 (INCLUDING TAXES). WHEN I ASKED WHAT SPECIFICALLY WAS WRONG WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION, I WAS SIMPLY TOLD "HONDA DOESN'T ALLOW US TO OPEN CVT TRANSMISSIONS." THIS SOUNDS VERY SUSPICIOUS TO ME. I NEED MY CAR, SO I DON'T FEEL LIKE I HAVE ANY CHOICE BUT TO PAY THE COSTS. HOWEVER, I SHOULD POINT OUT THAT I KEEP UP WITH THE ROUTINE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE AS SUGGESTED AT ABOUT 50K MILES. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN JULY 2014, SO IT IS ONLY 4 1/2 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 65K MILES ON IT. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE DEEMED DEFECTIVE AND BE COMPLETELY COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. PLEASE ADVISE.

3 LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH, TRACTION CONTROL, POWER STEERING, AND TPMS. DEALER SAYS ITS THE ABS MODULE. AT ONLY 53,000 MILES, I BELIEVE THIS IS PREMATURE FAILURE. POOR DESIGN ON HONDA BEHALF. SAME WITH THE SMALL OEM BATTERY HONDA PUTS IN THESE VEHICLES. ALSO FAILED PREMATURELY. HONDA NEEDS TO ISSUE RECALL FOR ABS MODULE. VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND TOOK 5 ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE, VEHICLE WOULD START AND STALL, AFTER 5 ATTEMPTS VEHICLE STAYED ON WITH 3 WARNING LIGHTS AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY.
I'VE NOTICED THAT THE CAR IS CONSUMING OIL AT LEAST 1 QUART BEFORE 1K MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT YONKERS HONDA ON 12/28/2018 AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED TO BRING BACK THE CAR AT 1K MILES FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILURE AT LESS THAN 90,000 MILES. HAD WE BEEN DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED, WE AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. IT TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL.
WENT CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, CAME OUT OF BEST BUY AND STARTED CAR TO GO HOME, NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. TURNED CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND NOTICED THE SAME THING. WHILE TRYING TO TURN IT, IT PULSATES, AS IF THE SYSTEM IS ACTING UP. USED UBER TO GET HOME. CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING. DID SOME RESEARCH ON GOOGLE, THE ONLY WAY TO BYPASS POWER STEERING IS TO PULL THE FUSE SO WE PULLED THE FUSE AND DROVE CAR HOME IN MANUAL STEERING MODE. CHECKED CAR WITH OBD2 SCANNER, NO CODES. CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THESE CARS DON'T HAVE STEERING PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, WHEN I CHECKED ON GOOGLE, IT LOOKS LIKE HONDA HAS HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH STEERING ISSUES IN THE 2013/2014 ACCORD.
"CHECK CHARGE SYSTEM" WARNING ALERTS TURNED ON AND VEHICLE ELECTRICAL STARTED SHORTING SOON AFTER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. POWER STEERING AND BRAKES STARTED TO FAIL. MANAGED TO DRIVE HOME WHEN PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED. PROBLEM WENT AWAY AND CAME BACK. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY SAID I HAD A BAD ALTERNATOR. ORIGINAL RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE (17V-418) STATED "THE BATTERY SENSOR CASE MOUNTED ON TOP OF 12 V BATTERY MAY HAVE GAPS THAT COULD ALLOW FOR MOISTURE TO ENTER THE SENSOR. IF MOISTURE CONTAINING ROAD SALT ENTERS THE BATTERY SENSOR, IT COULD RESULT IN AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND SUBSEQUENTLY, A FIRE. THE CHARGING SYSTEM INDICATOR MAY ILLUMINATE IN THE MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY WHEN A PROBLEM IS DETECTED WITH THE BATTERY SENSOR PRIOR TO THE TIME THAT A SHORT MAY OCCUR." I ADDRESSED MY CONCERN WITH SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THIS BATTERY ISSUE MAY HAVE CAUSED MY ELECTRICAL FAILURE. DEALER SAID MY ALTERNATOR IS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND DIDN'T AGREE THAT THE BATTERY ISSUE MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS. MY TOTAL BILL WAS $862.67 PLUS TOWING. AS I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE HONDA ACCORD 2014. NOT SURE IF ANY RECOURSE IS POSSIBLE BUT THOUGHT I REPORT MY ISSUE.
I AM HAVING THE SAME STARTER ISSUES AS SO MANY ON A BLOG THAT I WAS READING AFTER HAVING MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD FOR 4 YEAR. I HAVE A 2014 HONDA ACCORD EX AND IT'S BURNING 2 TO 3 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 2 WEEKS. IT'S AGGRAVATING IT'S BURNING SO MUCH OIL AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MATTER WITH THE ACCORD MODEL AND HONDA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS MATTER AND I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY WERE SAID THAT THEY WILL CHARGE ME $129.99 TO LOOK AT THE CAR WHEN I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP 2 WEEKS AGO.THEY REPROGRAM A KEY AND REPLACE A RECALL SENSOR, SO I WAS TOLD. THEY ALSO DID A SYSTEM UPDATE.SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUE WITH MY CAR. 1ST WAS A CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS MY ALTERNATOR OR BATTERY, BUT THEY SAID WAS NOTHING. THREE DAYS AGO I GOT INTO MY CAR TO START IT AND IT WOULD NOT START STATED " FCW SYSTEM FAILED" AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS ITS STARTED BUT ACCELERATION WOULD NOT RESPOND. RMP STAYED BELOW 2000 EVEN WITH MY FOOT DEEP ON THE GAS PEDAL. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR FOR 20 MINS , THEN IT ACCELERATOR CAME BACK. BUT FWC AND ALL SERVICE LIGHTS STAYED ON. WAKE UP THE NEXT DAY ALL LIGHTS WENT AWAY LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. TODAY I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE ACCELERATION OCCUR AGAIN. WHILE ON THE HIGH WAY IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. MADE IT HOME SAFE. AS I WAS ABOUT TO GET IN MY CAR AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START. CAR HAS POWER BUT IS NOT STARTING. AT ONE POINT OF TRYING TO START MY MPH GAGED WAS FLICKING, EVEN AFTER I RELEASE THE START BUTTON. IVE READ MANY REPORTS BY CUSTOMERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FWC FAIL AS WELL AS THE STARTER SYSTEM. BASE ON MY RESEARCH IT SEEMS THAT ONLY HONDA ACCORD 2014 HAVING THIS ISSUE. HONDA CANT SEEM TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AND THIS IS BAD. WHATEVER THE CAUSE MAY BE HONDA NEEDS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS. I WAS LEFT STRANDED WITH NO HELP AND NO ONE TO CALL ON. BECAUSE ONE MOMENT MY CAR WAS DRIVING LIKE THE 2014 CAR IT IS AND NEXT IT WAS NOT.
ENGINE STARTED LEAKING OIL. MAJOR ENGINE GASKETS AND SEALS REPLACEMENT WAS REQUIRED. CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY
PRESSING THE START BUTTON WITH KEY FOB NEXT TO IT TURNS ON THE IGNITION AS WELL AS THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BUT DOES NOT CRANK THE ENGINE, WILL HAVE TO TRY MULTIPLE TIMES TO START THE ENGINE. THIS IS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY AND STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO, SEEMS TO BE GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS THE LAST INCIDENT REQUIRED REPEATING 6 TIMES TO GET THIS STARTED. PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND ONLY HAS 30K MILES, ALL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP. DISAPPOINTED TO EXPERIENCE SUCH ISSUE FROM A HONDA AS THE DECISION TO PURCHASE WAS SOLELY BASED ON THE REPUTATION OF HONDA.
EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I AM NOT ABLE TO START THE CAR. THE BATTERY IS GOOD AND THE BATTERY IN THE KEY FOB HAS BEEN REPLACED. WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON, NOTHING HAPPENS. AFTER AWHILE (A FEW MINUTES TO 30 MINUTES OR SO)THE CAR WILL CRANK. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL SOON BE STRANDED AND NOT ABLE TO WAIT THIS OUT.
ON MY 2014 ACCORD SPORT (2.4 L, I4 ENGINE), THERE APPEARS TO BE 'EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION' SINCE ABOUT 50K MILES. I HAVE TO ADD ABOUT 3/4 QUART TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000-2500 MILES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND PERFORM ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON TIME AT THE HONDA DEALER. I TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF THIS CAR AND HAVE NEVER MISSED A SERVICE. IT NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE HITTING 50K MILES. IT CURRENTLY HAS 77K MILES AND I JUST HAD TO ADD 3/4 QUART OF OIL AGAIN AFTER ONLY 2000 MILES. I'VE EVEN REPLACED THE PCV VALVE WITH NO LUCK. MY QUESTION IS, WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE SIMILAR TO THE RECALL RELATED TO 2008-2012 ACCORDS? I THINK MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. BY THE WAY, I'VE SEEN HONDA'S STANCE THAT UP TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IS ACCEPTABLE, I ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE.. IT'S ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILES TO BURN THIS MUCH OIL. REAR CAMERA SHOWS ONLY A BLACK SCREEN WITH ORANGE GUIDELINES IT NO LONGER SHOWS OUTSIDE, WHEN CAR IS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. SIDE CAMERA STILL FUNCTIONS
3 DASHBOARD LIGHTS APPEAR ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD ALL AT ONCE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THESE THREE LIGHTS THAT REMAIN ILLUMINATED INCLUDE 1) ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) LIGHT, 2) VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (VSC) LIGHT, AND 3) ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LIGHT. HONDA DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE ABS MODULATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT MY CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE (3YRS OR 36K MILES). THE QUOTE I RECIEVED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULATOR FROM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WAS $1,700. I DECIDED TO GOOGLE ABS MODULATOR FOR HONDA ACCORD TO SEE IF THERE WERE OTHER ACCORD OWNERS THAT HAVE A SIMILAR ISSUE. UPON SEARCH FROM YOUTUBE AND HONDA FORUMS, I FOUND THERE TO BE OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 3 LIGHTS ILLUMINATED (ABS, VSC AND ELECTRIC POWER STEERING) AND THE REPAIR COST IF NOT UNDER WARRANTY CAN RANGE FROM $1,300 TO AS HIGH AS $2,000 FROM WHAT I SAW OTHER HONDA ACCORD OWNERS TO REPORT. I FEEL AS THOUGH HONDA IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR THIS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY AND FEEL AS THOUGH THEY SOLD ME A DYSFUNCTIONAL CAR. I FEEL COMPELLED TO WRITE THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE MY CAR VALUE IS 10K AND TO REPAIR THE ABS MODULATOR I WOULD HAVE TO FORK UP NEARLY 20% OF MY CARS VALUE FOR AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT WAS PERHAPS FAULTY DESIGN ON HONDAS PART. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I'VE BEEN REVIEWING SEVERAL WEBSITE'S WHERE CAR OWNERS OF 2014 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN'S HAS REPORTED WHERE THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN OVER WHEN YOU INSERT THEIR KEY. I HAVE TO TURN MY KEY AND TAKE IT OUT AT LEAST 5 TIMES IN OVER FOR THE IGNITION TO TURN OVER. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR MY ESPECIALLY IF I'M STRANDED. I WAS IN MY PARKING GARAGE ON 11/19/18 AT 5:30PM WHERE MY CAR WILL NOT START. I HAD TO TAKE MY KEY OUT AND INSERT IT IN THE IGNITION FOR ABOUT 5 TIMES BEFORE IT TURNOVER. AND SOME OF THEM SAID IT'S THE STARTER'S PROBLEM; OTHERS SAID IT'S ALTERNATOR OR BATTERY'S PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. AND WHEN THE WEATHER BECOMES COLD, THE CAR CANNOT BE STARTED MORE FREQUENTLY THAN WARM DAYS. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES ME BIG TROUBLES BECAUSE I HAVE TO PAY A LOT TO JUMP START IT. AND IT LEFT ME ON THE ROAD WHICH IS UNSAFE. THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND ONLY 55000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THERE ARE SO MANY SIMILAR CASES WITH OTHER HONDA OWNER ON THE INTERNET. I SERIOUSLY THINK THAT HONDA SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND MAKE A SAFETY RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
