STARTER FAILING AFTER ONLY 33,000 MILES, STATIONARY, IN A PARKING LOT. UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD REPAIR AND TOW BILL ON THIS COMPUTER BUT DO HAVE THOSE AVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS BEEN TO HONDA TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS JUNE 20TH AT 5PM AT WHOLE FOODS IN PHOENIX. THE CAR WOULD TURN OVER THEN DIE. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK IT TO HONDA (IT STARTED AND DROVE). I PICKED IT UP AT 5PM, THEY STATED THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. AS I'M SITTING IN THE CAR AT HONDA THE CAR DIED AND WOULDN'T START. THE NEXT DAY THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE STARTER AND REPLACED IT AND I PICKED UP THE CAR FRIDAY JUNE 23RD. THE CAR WAS FINE UNTIL SUNDAY AROUND 3PM AT SAFEWAY ON PHOENIX WHERE THE CAR WOULD START AND THEN DIE. I TOOK AN UBER HOME AND SCHEDULED A TOW. WHEN I GOT BACK TO SAFEWAY THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE IT HOME. MONDAY MORNING JUNE 26 I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FUEL PUMP TO BE BAD AFTER TWO DAYS. I TOWED IT BACK TO HONDA ON JUNE 28TH TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP CHANGED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND I DID NOT GET MY CAR BACK UNTIL JULY 8TH. ON MY WAY TO WORK TUESDAY JULY 11TH THE CAR DIED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY INTERCHANGE BETWEEN I10W AND I17N AND WAS FORCED TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE (THERE'S BARELY A SHOULDER) AND WAIT FOR A TOW AS THE CAR WOULD NO START. I WAS TOWED TO SHOWCASE HONDA WHERE THE CAR IS NOW. THIS LAST INCIDENT WAS MORE THAN JUST AN INCONVENIENCE IT WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR AND I HAVE ALMOST NO CONFIDENCE THEY ARE CAPABLE OF FIGURING OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR (THAT'S UNDER WARRANTY) AND I HONESTLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THAT CAR ANY LONGER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WAS UNABLE TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LINDSEY HONDA (5959 SCARBOROUGH BOULEVARD COLUMBUS, OHIO 43232 PHONE: 614-864-0520) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST LOCATED A FAILURE CODE AT THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR CERTIFIED USED FROM HONDA. 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE, MY SON PULLED INTO THE DEALERSHIP (TO HAVE COSMETIC WORK DONE) AND THE CARS ENGINE "LOCKED UP".( THE CAR SALESMAN WAS PRESENT AT THIS TIME) THE CAR JUST "DIED". THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD RECHARGE THE BATTERY, AS THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. I ASKED FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, SO IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, WE WOULD KNOW 100%, THAT IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. LESS THEN 3 WEEKS LATER, 6 DAYS BEFORE OWNING THE CAR FOR A FULL MONTH, MY SON IS DRIVING THE CAR, AND WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A 4 WAY INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER AND STOPS DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING FORWARD INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE SECOND, DRIVING FORWARD WITH A SLIGHT TURN. AFTER ARGUING WITH THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS IN FACT A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM, AND I NOR MY SON FELT SAFE IN THE VEHICLE, DID THEY AGREE TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK, IF I WAS WILLING TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THEM.

WHILE DRIVING MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING IT HARD TO MOVE THE WHEEL AND VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN A CORNER. THE EPS LIGHT ON DASHBOARD LIT UP. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF CAR, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND POWER STEERING WORKED. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY FINALLY GOT IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. FIRST REMOVED A REMOTE STARTER, THOUGHT THAT WOULD FIX IT. I PICKED UP MY CAR AND WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED ON HIGHWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THE NEXT THING IS TO REPLACE POWER STEERING COLUMN FOR $2200. THEY ARE NOT EVEN SURE IF THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS AND I SEE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ALSO REPORTED THIS PROBLEM
VEHICLE DOES NOT START WHEN PUSH TO START. IT CLICK COUPLE TIME BUT DID NOT START. IT HAPPENING MORE OFTEN THAN LAST YEAR AND GOT STRANGE LAST NIGHT AGAIN.
LOST ALL POWER STEERING ON HIGHWAY. STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY VERY HARD TO TURN.
STARTER OR ENGINE START BUTTON PROBLEM, AT 49000 MILES.
AS I MADE A RIGHT TURN TO THE PARKING SPOT WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE PEDAL I SLOWED DOWN TO 2-3 MPH WITH FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE. AT ABOUT 1-2 FEET FROM THE CONCRETE RETAINING WALL LIMITING THE PARKING SPOT I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE FOR THE FINAL STOP. CAR ACCELERATED WILDLY AND HIT THE CONCRETE RETAINING WALL AHEAD. MY FOOT HAD NEVER LEFT THE BRAKE. AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION 2-3 MPH, ON A PARKING LOT. ACCELERATION HAPPENED WHEN I WAS BREAKING.
HAD TO CHANGE THE STARTER 6/2017 AND THEN AGAIN 4/2018 CAR WOULD NOT START
WHILE DRIVING THE EPS INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE. TOOK THE 2014 ACCORD TO THE HONDA WORLD DEALERSHIP WHERE A ERROR CODE 53-01 WAS RECORDED. HONDA WORLD DEALERSHIP IN LOUISVILLE KY SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. RELEARNED THE TORQUE SENSOR POSITION. WORKED OK FROM 6-2-2017 TO 6-11-2017. WHILE DRIVING THE EPS INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE AGAIN ON 6-11-2017. WILL TAKE BACK INTO THE HONDA WORLD DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS WELL DOCUMENTED. HONDA DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO CORRECT A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE ACCORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST, TIRE PRESSURE, POWER STEERING, AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO METRO HONDA (540 NEW JERSEY 440, JERSEY CITY, NJ) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REFUSED TO REPAIR THE FAILURES BECAUSE THE CONTACT DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BECAUSE THE CONTACT DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR BOTH THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
2014 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM TESTING ISSUES. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM HAS NO DIFFERENCE IN THE DISTANCE WARNING SETTINGS. THE LONG,SHORT, AND NORMAL DISTANCE WARNINGS ARE EQUAL TO 2 CAR LENGTHS. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED FOR NHTSA TO ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 09/27/2017*JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS REMAINED LOOSE ONCE PULLED AND FAILED TO TIGHTEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,500.
THE AC CONDENSER GOT A HOLE IN IT FROM SOMETHING ON THE ROAD, BEEN READING AROUND AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, TO ME IT IS NOT OKAY THAT THE CONDENSER IS SO EASILY DAMAGED TO THE POINT THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT IT
I WAS ON MY WAY TO LA DRIVING MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX, SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 5. AFTER ABOUT 3 HOURS OF DRIVING, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL, CRUISE CONTROL ON GOING ABOUT 72 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY VEERED TO THE LEFT. I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN WITH THE BRAKE AND FOUGHT WITH THE CAR TRYING TO GET IT TO GO STRAIGHT HOWEVER THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL. I TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO STOP THE CAR FROM GOING TO THE LEFT HOWEVER THE CAR WOULD NOT COOPERATE AND WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD, BOTH LANES. IT CONTINUED TO SWERVE LEFT INTO THE RIGHT LANE CAUSING IT TO SPIN BACKWARDS OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE DIRT. I STILL WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR AS IT CONTINUED THEN ROLLED OVER. I WAS UPSIDE DOWN AND TRAPPED IN MY CAR. MY FEET WERE UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY BODY WAS LENGTHWISE ACROSS THE PASSENGER SEAT....MY SEAT BELT STILL ON. I UNBUCKLED AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHICH I COULD NOT OPEN. MY CELL PHONE WAS ON A CHARGER AND WAS STILL WITHIN REACH SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 (9:35AM) AND TOLD DISPATCH I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND ANOTHER MOTORIST HAD ALREADY CALLED IT IN. THE CHP OFFICER WAS ABLE TO PULL THE DOOR OPEN. I HAD A TOWEL ON THE PASSENGER SEAT WHICH WAS NOW UNDER ME SO I HANDED IT TO HIM TO LAY OVER THE GLASS, I WAS THEN ABLE TO CRAWL OUT OF MY CAR. MY HANDS WERE BLEEDING ESPECIALLY ONE SPOT ON MY LEFT HAND THAT WOULDN'T STOP SO THE OFFICER GOT OUT HIS EMERGENCY BAG AND HANDED ME GAUZE TO PUT ON MY HAND. EVENTUALLY THE BLEEDING STOPPED. THE CHP SAID HE HAS SEEN ACCIDENTS LIKE MINE AND THE OUTCOME WAS NOT GOOD. 2014 HONDA ACCORDS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES. COMPLAINTS STATE 'CAR PULLING TO THE LEFT'. THE BATTERY WAS MESSED UP AND I WASNT EVEN AWARE OF THE RECALL AND I HAD TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT BATTERY. I JUST READ ABOUT THE RECALL
LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL! 11 May 2017, driving highway 5 to LA, speed control on at 72 MPH. Suddenly car veered to the left, all over both lanes. I was unable to get the car to drive straight. The car continued to swerve left then into the right lane causing it to spin backwards off the highway and into the dirt. I still was unable to stop the car as it continued to roll over. I was upside down and trapped inside the car. COMPLAINT WAS FILED IN 2017.
OUR 2014 HONDA ACCORD HAD SOME ROAD DEBRIS PUNCTURE A HOLE IN THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER. FROM WHAT I READ ON THE INTERNET THERE IS A DESIGN FLOW THAT HONDA HAS KNOW ABOUT FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS. WE SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DEPT OF LIA HONDA , PO BOX 1110, ENFIELD CT 06083 AND THEY SAID THAT THE CONDENSER WAS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WE PURCHASED FOR $1340 WHEN BE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW. HONDA REFUSES TO COVER REPLACEMENT AND CALL IT AN ACT OF GOD WHEN DEBRIS FLIES UP AND PUT A HOLE IN THE AC CONDENSER. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE PART FOR $476 DOLLARS. I PREFER MY MECHANIC BECAUSE I KNOW AND TRUST HIM, AND HE DOES THE WORK FOR HALF AS MUCH. HONDA DEALERS ARE SCAMMING THEIR CUSTOMERS OUT OF $800-$1000 TO REPLACE PART THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THEIR DESIGN FLAW. I AM TIRED OF BEING TAKEN OF ADVANTAGE OF BY BIG COMPANIES AND UNLESS THE GOVERNMENT FORCES THEM TO PAY UP, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO STICK IT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. I GUESS THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS SWITCH BACK TO TOYOTA, AND LEAST THE STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE TO DEAL WITH THEIR RUST ISSUES. INITIAL PROBLEM WITH PUSH BUTTON START - WOULD NOT START ON FIRST PUSH. STARTED AT ABOUT 55K MILEAGE. PROBLEM HAS WORSENED - MAY START ON FIRST PUSH, BUT SOMETIMES TAKES MANY PUSHES IN COMBINATION WITH BRAKE RELEASE AND DEPRESSING OR JUST PUSHING WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE - THEN BRAKING AND PUSHING. VERY INTERMITTENT IN TERMS OF HOW MANY PUSHES - SOMETIMES JUST A COUPLE, SOMETIME 10 OR MORE! NOW AT JUST UNDER 60K MILEAGE, CAR CANNOT BE TRUSTED. ERROR CODES COME UP AS 85-01 VSA SYSTEM MALFUNCTION AND 61-11 VSA MODULATOR CONTROL UNIT POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT (IC) LOW VOLTAGE AND B-1240 - A PROBLEM IN THE MODE CONTROL LINKAGE DOOR OR MOTOR. THESE ERROR CODES DO NOT SEEM RELATED TO THE PUSH BUTTON START ISSUE, BUT IS ANOTHER PROBLEM TO INVESTIGATE AND FIX. THE PUSH BUTTON PROBLEM HAPPENS TO MANY PEOPLE AND HONDA IS AWARE OF IT. MY MECHANIC CALLED HIS INSIDE CONTACT AT THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY KEEP STARTERS ON HAND FOR THIS. THEY WILL NOT HANDLE AS A WARRANTY OR 'RECALL' TYPE PROBLEM AND ONE HAS TO PAY A LOT FOR THE FIX - STARTER REPLACEMENT CAN BE CLOSE TO $1K!! ANOTHER HONDA CONTACT KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE - IT IS BECAUSE THE STARTER ON THE ACCORD, ESPECIALLY THE 2.4L ENGINE, IS MOUNTED BELOW THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, HEATS UP SIGNIFICANTLY AND BEGINS TO FAIL - DEPENDS MORE ON THE # OF STARTS THAN MILEAGE, APPARENTLY. MY ACCORD IS STARTED MANY TIMES PER DAY. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER A RECALL EVENT, I BELIEVE, BUT I MUST GET MINE FIXED NOW!!! NOT GOOD! ALSO A PROBLEM FROM DAY 1, IS THE FORWARD WARNING CAMERA GETS HOT, HERE IN SOUTHERN CAL, AND WILL NOT WORK UNTIL THE AC SYSTEM COOLS IT DOWN. VERY UNSAFE AND WORTHY OF FURTHER REVIEW AS WELL. *JS
THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THE STARTER HAVING A "GRINDING", "STATIC-LIKE", OR "WHINING" SOUND AND IT HAS SEEMINGLY AFFECTED MY CAR AS WELL. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN I AM PREPARING TO LEAVE FOR MY DESTINATION, DO A BASIC PRESS OF THE STARTER BUTTON, AND I WILL HEAR THAT GRINDING AND WHINING SOUND... ON OCCASION, IT WILL TAKE A NUMBER OF TRIES TO GET THE CAR STARTED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON THE REGULAR. THERE IS A HONDA TECHNICAL BULLETIN (DATED FEBRUARY 5, 2016) NUMBER 16-002 IN REGARDS TO THE STARTER AND ALSO A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT (MERKIN V. HONDA NORTH AMERICAN INC., AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., HONDA MOTOR COMPANY LTD.) I CANNOT PINPOINT AN EXACT DATE ON WHEN THIS STARTED (I GAVE YOU MY BEST ANSWER), BUT IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I FEAR IF IT CONTINUES, IT COULD HURT MY CAR IN THE LONG RUN OR I COULD POSSIBLY BE STRANDED IF I GO ON A LONG JOURNEY SOMEWHERE
THIS CAR CONSUMES 3 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY: THE ACTUATOR FOR THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK STOP WORKING INTERMITTENTLY.I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THE REPLACED IT UNDER THE WARRANTY, I MENTIONED TO THEM THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR AND ALREADY HAVE ISSUES WITH THIS!!! WELL I HAVE THE SAME SITUATION BUT THIS TIME IS IN THE REAR DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE SO I TOOK TO THE DEALER THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME WE CAN NOT REPLACED IT SINCE THE WARRANTY IS DUE YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, I MENTIONED TO THEM SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM DUE TO THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THE CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE BUT THIS TIME ON DIFFERENT DOOR. APPARENTLY THE LOCKING MECHANISM HAS A FLAWS DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT HONDA DOES NOT WANTS TO ACCEPT.
I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES STARTING CAR FOR APPROX. 1 1/2 YRS AS EVERYBODY WHO HAS FILED A COMPLAINT FOR THIS STARTER ISSUE. I AM A STRUGGLING AMERICAN JUST LIKE MANY, GOT LET GO FROM 19 YRS OF SERVICE AND FINALLY GOT A PART TIME JOB AT AN AFB, BAD TIMING, MY 1ST AT WORK AND THE STARTER ISSUE GOT TO THE POINT THAT NOW IT SIMPLY DOESN'T START, IT USED TO TAKE UP TO 20 TRIES, HAD A HARD TIME GETTING TOW TRUCK INTO BASE BECAUSE OF RESTRICTIONS. MY PREVIOUS CAR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS PASSING SMOG TEST, SO DECIDED TO BUY A RELIABLE VEHICLE, HAD MANY OPTIONS TO BUY FROM BUT HONDA HAD A REPUTABLE LEGACY. NOW I STRESS OUT BECAUSE A 2 1/2 YR OLD CAR IS GIVING TONS OF HONDA OWNERS THE SAME STARTED PROBLEM. WE ARE BEING FORCED TO TAKE VEHICLES BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND PAY $900 PLUS LABOR BECAUSE EY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT SELL STARTERS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL, THERE IS NO AFTERMARKET PARTS. IT IS NOT FAIR NOR RIGHT THAT BECAUSE OF HONDAS DEFECTIVE PARTS FAIL AND WE ARE BEING MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR. WHEN PAYING FOR A $30,000+ VEHICLE PEOPLE EXPECT PEACE OF MIND AND NOT UNRELIABLE LEMONS. ALL YOU HEAR IS THE WHINING OF THE STARTER, I HAVE ON VIDEO. LET VEHICLE SIT A WHILE AND TRIED LATER WITH SUCCESS. BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER THE NEXT DAY, SHOWED THEM THE VIDEO. THE TOOK VEHICLE IN AND DETERMINED EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THEY DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE WITH THE STARTER BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT, OCCURRING ABOUT EVERY 3-4 DAYS. THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY. I AM CONCERNED THAT WITH WINTER IN FULL SWING, I WILL BE STRANDED OUT IN MY CAR BECAUSE OF A FAULTY STARTER. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE GOING ANYWHERE WITH MY VEHICLE.
