OBVIOUS STEERING PROBLEMS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN BREAKING. HONDA SAYS THEY CAN CORRECT THE ROTOR PROBLEMS WITH A BREAK JOB FOR $209.00. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 16000 MILES ON IT. THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF ROTOR PROBLEM COMPLAINTS.
CAR FAILED TO START BECAUSE BRAKE PEDAL REFUSED TO DEPRESS SLIGHTLY AND CLOSE ITS PART OF THE STARTER CIRCUIT. THAT FAILURE-TO-DEPRESS RENDERED THE DASHBOARD PUSH-BUTTON INOPERABLE. HONDA DEALER CLAIMED THAT BRAKE PEDAL USE DURING PARKING HAD OVER-PRESSURIZED THE BRAKE PEDAL CYLINDER, WHICH WOULD GRADUALLY BLEED OFF. THAT BLEED OFF TOOK ANYWHERE FROM 5 MINUTES TO 2 HOURS, IN 3 SEPARATE INSTANCES. THIS PROBLEM RENDERS THIS $30,030 CAR USELESS FOR TAKING A PREGNANT WIFE TO THE HOSPITAL OR FOR A MYRIAD OF OTHER HAVE-TO-START-THE-CAR-NOW REASONS.
WE HAD TO REPLACE THE CARS ALTERNATOR AT 37K MILES, THE BATTERY AT 16 MONTHS, AND HAVE REPLACED HEADLIGHTS 6 TIMES SINCE OWNING THE CAR.
ON FRIDAY MAY 6, 2016 WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 4, DRIVER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED INWARD HITTING ME WITH GLASS AND DISTRIBUTING GLASS THROUGHOUT ENTIRE INSIDE OF CAR, FRONT AND BACK. VERY LOUD EXPLOSION AND ALL GLASS CAME INSIDE CAR. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS BESIDE ME OR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DOING 70 MPH. HONDA SERVICE SANFORD FLORIDA SAID THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THEIR WINDOWS DOING THIS, HOWEVER, WHEN I GO ON LINE I SEE MANY ENTRIES ON THE INTERNET OUTLINING THIS SAME IDENTICAL ISSUE, PLUS THERE ARE LAW SUITS THAT HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST HONDA DUE TO THIS ISSUE. HONDA SERVICE SANFORD CLEANED ALL OF THE GLASS FROM WITHIN THE INTERIOR OF CAR WITHOUT TAKING PICTURES. I WILL TAKE PICTUES OF THE INSIDE OF DOOR ONCE THEY REMOVE PANELS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED TO ENSURE THAT THAT IS THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE GLASS THAT ITS REPLACED BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE AND CAUSES INJURY OR DEATH TO OTHER.
I HAD TWO TIRES BLOW IN LESS THEN A MONTH. THEY'RE MICHELIN TIRES. WAS TOLD BY HONDA I RAN OVER SOMETHING BUT THERE WAS NO PUNCTURE AT ALL IN MY TIRE. IT WAS A PERFECT BLOW. THE LIGHT LITERALLY CAME ON A TWO SECONDS LATER WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT BLEW. I NEARLY WRECKED AND WAS KILLED. THE SECOND SECOND TIME I WAS ON THE THE ROAD MAYBE A MINUTE AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. CAME RIGHT HOME AND CALLED HONDA. I REFUSED TO DRIVE MY CAR DOWN TO THEM BC OF WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME. I KNOW THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND I WANT MY $230.00 BACK FOR THE ONE TIRE I REPLACED AND ALL NEW TIRES. THIS IS NOT A SAFE CAR RIGHT NOW. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TOO. I HAD A HONDA BEFORE THIS CAR AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES LIKE I'M HAVING NOW.
ENGINE MISFIRES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH THE TACHOMETER SURGING 1,000 RPM'S WITH EACH MISFIRE. YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN YOUR SPEED AND THEREFORE ARE NOT ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. TOOK IT TO A DEALER WHO STATED SOMEONE ELSE HAD RECENTLY BEEN IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBELM ON A TEST DRIVE. THEY RESET THE COMPUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS, BUT DIDN'T HEAR BACK YET FROM THE OWNER IF IT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. THEY DIDN'T RESET MY CAR'S COMPUTER, HOWEVER. MY PROBLEM APPEARS TO MATCH THAT OF NHTSA ID NUMBER 10838521.
WHILE OVERTAKING A LARGE TRUCK (SEMI), IN THE FAST LANE OF A FOUR LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY, THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FLASHED A WARNING AND AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED HEAVY BRAKING AS MY VEHICLE WAS EVEN WITH THE REAR OF THE SEMI TRAILER. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME TO NEARLY REAR-END MY CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR, AND SEEMS TO BE MORE FREQUENT LATELY. I AM NERVOUS ABOUT USING THE ACC WHEN APPROACHING OR PASSING A LARGE SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMMENTS REGARDING THE SAME SITUATION POSTED ON THE INTERNET. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.
WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR IT STALLS AND HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING AND DRIVING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS INVOLVING THE SHORT BOX AND IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR IF THE OLD LEAKS IT CAN CATCH ON FIRE. THE RECALL IS PRINTED ON THE INTERNET. I WILL EMAIL IT TO YOU LATER AS I DO NAT HAVE IT WITH ME. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY MONTH AND MANY TIMES EVERY MONTH. THEY WILL NOT FIX IT AND THEY WILL NOT CALL ME BACK. I WANT A NEW CAR UNDER THE LEMON LAW. PLEASE HELP. OTHERS NEED TO KNOW THERE IS A DANGER HERE BUT THIS IS TOP SECRET.
I AM CURRENTLY LEASING A 2015 ACCORD. I TOOK MY CAR TO WAL-MART TO HAVE TIRES ROTATED AND WAS INFORMED THEY COULD NOT ROTATE DUE TO MY REAR TIRES CUPPING. I TOOK IT TO HONDA CAR SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED MY REAR TIRES WERE CUPPING AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY. MY ALIGNMENT WASN'T BAD. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD ROTATE THEM AND BALANCE AND DO A NEW ALIGNMENT. THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WOULD BE LOUD DUE TO PUTTING THE CUPPING TIRES IN FRONT. I HAVE LEARNED OTHER PEOPLE WITH HIGH MILE HONDA ACCORD 2015 ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE WHERE THE CHAMBER IS OFF. THE ONLY WAY CURRENTLY I CAN GET MY TO STOP SOUNDING LIKE A TRACTOR TRAILER IS TO BUY NEW TIRES HOWEVER WITH THE CHAMBER BEING OFF IT WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AND THE NEW TIRES WILL CUP TOO. I AM GOING TO CONTACT HONDA AGAIN AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO HOWEVER I HEARD HONDA IS NOT AGREEING THAT CAMBER IS OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARALLEL PARK THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTRA EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
FEB 25 2016 I HAD ACCIDENT AND CAR GOT TOTAL LOSS MY AIR BAG FAIL TO OPEN AND HAD HEAD INJURY
I BOUGHT A NEW HONDA ACCORD ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO. I NOTICED AFTER DRIVING IT A MONTH OR MORE THAT EVERY LONG ONCE IN A WHILE IT WAS SHOWING ME A DEFECT KNOWN AS "UNINTENDED ACCELERATION". I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND AFTER THEY EXAMINED IT, PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER MACHINE AND TEST DROVE IT A FEW MILES, THEY FOUND IT TO BE PERFECT, NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I TOOK IT BACK AND CONTINUED DRIVING IT THINKING THAT PERHAPS I DID SOMETHING THAT CAUSED IT.AS I CONTINUED ON WITH IT, I PULLED INTO MY HANDICAP SPACE AT MY PARKING LOT. FRONT END UP TO A CONCRETE BUNKER WITH THE HANDICAP SIGN STANDING TALL IN FRONT. I WAS ABOUT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE KEY OFF, WHEN SUDDENLY WHILE MY FEET WERE OFF THE PEDALS THE CAR ZOOMED UP TO 40 MPH,I TURNED THE WHEEL LEFT TO TRY AND AVOID THE SIGN AFTER IT HIT THE BUNKER AND AS IT SPED INTO THE NEXT PARKING LANE I BRAKED AND SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL.LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IN THE SECOND LANE OR I WOULD HAVE KILLED SOMEBODY AS WELL AS MYSELF.I TOOK IT TO TWO MORE DEALERS WITH A DAMAGED PASSENGER FENDER AND THEY ALL SAID AFTER LOOKING AND TESTING AGAIN THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE LAST DEALER BROUGHT A HONDA EXPERT MECHANIC IN FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND HE TOO SAID NOTHING'S WRONG. WITHOUT EVIDENCE THEY CAN DO NOTHING FOR ME.IF WE CAN'T FIND THE TROUBLE YOU SAY IS THERE, WE CAN'T ACCOMODATE YOU. I SAID, SO YOUR SENDING ME HOME NOW TO GET KILLED?SORRY BUT THERE'S NO PROOF. I CALLED HONDA MANUFACTURER AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING.
ENGINE MISFIRES AT 50-60 MPH WITH THE TACHOMETER SURGING FROM 1400 RPM TO 2500 RPM WITH EACH MISFIRE. YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN YOUR SPEED AND THEREFORE ARE NOT ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR SOME TIME BUT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT YET.
THIS VEHICLE HAS NO DASHBOARD INDICATOR TO INFORM YOU WHEN THE WASHER FLUID IS LOW. THIS MAY SOUND LIKE A SMALL THING, HOWEVER, THE POINT WHEN YOU RUN OUT WITHOUT WARNING IS WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE HIGHWAY THIS WINTER WITH A LOT OF SALTY SPRAY COMING OFF THE ROAD. THE RESULT WAS A STREAKY MESS THAT I COULD BARELY SEE THROUGH. FORTUNATELY, I CARRY A GALLON OF FLUID WITH ME SO I STOPPED AND FILLED IT ON THE SPOT. ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL, THE INDICATOR IS ONLY FOUND ON CANADIAN MODELS.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AT THE END OF DECEMBER 2015 WITH 100 MILES ON IT. BY THE END OF JUNE, I NOTICED WHEN I WOULD BRAKE I WOULD FEEL VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET, ANY MILEAGE OVER 55. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE ROTORS NEED TO BE RESURFACED. THIS OCCURRED AGAIN TOWARDS THE END OF JANUARY 2016. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER ON FEBRUARY 5, 2016 AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE RESURFACED AGAIN. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT HONDA WOULD ONLY PAY FOR ONE OF THESE PROCEDURES AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE OTHER. I ASKED THE SALESMAN IF THIS WAS AN FREQUENT OCCURRENCE WITH HONDA? WERE THE ROTORS OR BRAKES INEXPENSIVE? HE ASKED THAT MOST LIKELY WAS NOT THE CASE BECAUSE THERE WERE A LOT OF HONDAS ON THE ROAD. THIS WASN'T A JUSTIFIABLE ANSWER FOR ME SO I ADVISED HIM THAT I WOULD DO MY OWN RESEARCH AND REPORT THIS ISSUE IF NECESSARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOUD BANGING NOISE FROM THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON, BOTH LENS COVERS SHOW A THICK ROUND CIRCLE DISTORTING THE BEAM PROJECTION.. HONDA CLAIMS THIS HAPPENS ON ALL THE ACCORDS AND REFUSES TO DO FIX THE PROBLEM UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY SAID IF THEY REPLACED THE LIGHTS IT WOULD JUST HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY SAID ITS DUST BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE CIRCLE IS ETCHED, EITHER WAY THE LIGHT APPEARS DISTORTED
WITH APPROXIMATELY 4600 MILES VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. SEVERAL ERROR MESSAGES SHOWED UP: ANTI LOCKING BRAKE PROBLEM, ACC PROBLEM AND BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEMS. HONDA TOWED TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. LOW BATTERY WAS DIAGNOSED AND DEALER INSTALLED NEW BATTERY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THERE WAS A SLIGHT LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO A SAFE LOCATION BEFORE STALLING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE FUSE HAD BLOWN OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,042.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, EITHER ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS, OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE. THIS HESITATION WILL LAST 1-3 SECONDS AND THEN THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE AS EXPECTED. THIS HESITATION CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE AS EXPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW, AND THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE ITS PURCHASE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE HONDA DEALER, BUT THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE IT SINCE IT IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE. THEIR RESPONSE WAS TO STOP USING THE ECON BUTTON. I HAVE STOPPED USING THIS FEATURE, BUT THE ISSUE HAS PERSISTED, (ALTHOUGH IT HAS LESSENED IN OCCURRENCES). THE ISSUE CAN OCCUR 1-2 TIMES PER WEEK, WITH THE LAST OCCURRENCE ON 12/8/15. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE VEHICLE 15-036, WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED, BUT LAST TIME AT THE DEALER, THEY COULDN'T FIND THE TSB, SO THE SOFTWARE UPDATE LIKELY HAS NOT BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE.
APPROX. 4 MONTHS INTO MY OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE, THE BACKUP CAMERA STAYED ON, WHILE THE GEAR WAS IN D (DRIVE). FORTUNATELY IT WAS A SHORT DRIVE BUT IT DID CONCERN ME A LITTLE BIT. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN 2 MONTHS LATER. PICTURES FROM BOTH INCIDENTS ARE ATTACHED. ON THE 2ND INSTANCE THE AUDIO SYSTEM SAID "TURNED OFF" WHILE MUSIC WAS PLAYED LOUD AND CLEAR. I CHANGED GEARS A FEW TIMES WHILE ACTUALLY IN THE PARKING SPOT TO SEE IF IT RESETS, BUT NO LUCK. INCIDENT HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER YET. WAS THE COMPUTER ON THE CAR THINKING THAT I WAS REVERSING THE CAR WHILE I WAS ACTUALLY GOING FORWARD? ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE INTEGRATION OF TRANSMISSION TO ELECTRONICS? WHAT IF THE AIR BAGS DO NOT DEPLOY OR EARLY WARNING SYSTEMS LIKE FORWARD COLLISION OR LANE DEPARTURE ALERTS DO NOT WORK? I AM CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR BUT VERY CONCERNED FOR FAMILY AND MY OWN SAFETY.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING IN EXTREME DARK CONDITIONS (EG ON A POORLY LIT COUNTRY ROAD), WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON, A WELL DEMARCATED VEIL OF DARKNESS COVERS APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD (IE THE TOP HALF). THIS CURTAIN-LIKE VEIL OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVER'S VISION, TO THE POINT THAT HE/SHE MUST LOOK "UNDER" THE CURTAIN OF DARKNESS TO CLEARLY SEE THE ROAD. IF, HOWEVER, THE BRIGHT LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON, VISION IS MUCH IMPROVED (ALTHOUGH ONE CAN FAINTLY SEE THE DARKENED TOP HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD). NOT ONLY IS THIS SITUATION UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT IT IS DANGEROUS.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2015 HONDA ACCORD TOURING FROM PAT PECK HONDA ON DEC. 1, 2015. THE CAR WHEN TEST DRIVEN VIBRATED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AS THE CAR HAD BEEN MANUFACTURED IN APRIL OF 2015, I ASSUMED THAT THE TIRES WERE A LITTLE FLAT SPOTTED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES WERE A LITTLE BIT "OUT OF BALANCE" AND THE DEALER BALANCED THE TIRES, TEST DROVE IT AND RETURNED IT TO ME AS ROADWORTHY. I TOOK THE CAR BACK 3 TIMES AND EACH TIME THE DEALER REPRESENTED TO ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS TIRE BALANCE AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. THEY EVEN CLAIMED THAT THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. I AM CONVINCED THAT THAT IS A LIE. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER THIS MORNING AND HE EXAMINED THE TIRES AND SHOWED ME ON HIS BALANCE MACHINE THAT THE TIRES ARE OUT OF ROUND. I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE I DO NOT CONSIDER THESE TIRES AS ROADWORTHY AND THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING CONSTRUCTIVELY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TIRES ARE GOODYEAR ASSURANCE FUEL MAX TIRES MANUFACTURED 16/2015
THE CARS RADIO RANDOMLY REBOOTS AND FREEZES WHILE IN USE AND DRIVING. CALLS WILL DROP, DISPLAY WILL BLANK, AND RESET ITSELF. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN WE HAVE TO PARK THE CAR, POWER IT OFF AND RESTART TO CLEAR THE ISSUE. HONDA TELLS US THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND IT IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE.
INTERMITTENTLY, BUT ALWAYS UPON ACCELERATION (COULD BE PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A STOPPED POSITION, MERGING/SPEEDING UP TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY OR PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, OR STARTING TO MOVE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN) THE CAR WILL FALL FLAT WITH NO POWER. I WOULD HAVE TO STOP, TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES, THEN IT WOULD RANDOMLY WORK AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT WORK TILL THE NEXT DAY. I TOOK MY CAR IN, SHOWED THEM THE VIDEO(S), AND THEY SAID THEY REBOOTED/RESTARTED/UPDATED THE FIRMWARE OR THE 'SYSTEM' AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO JUST COME IN. MY CAR IS CURRENT BACK IN THE SHOP, AND NOW I HAVE SEVEN VIDEOS DOCUMENTED OF THIS HAPPENING, ALL WITH THE SAME ISSUE RECURRING, ON DECEMBER 2ND, 2015, DECEMBER 15TH, 2015, JANUARY 17TH, 2016, AND JANUARY 21ST, 2016. WHILE TURNING LEFT AFTER THE STOP LIGHT DISPLAYED GREEN, THE STEERING WHEEL GOT LOCKED AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I ENDED UP HITTING THE CURB ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I HAD TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN TO ENTER THE APARTMENT COMPLEX, WHEN WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY WAS ABLE TO MAKE A WIDE SWERVE AND PARK IN THE LOT. I COULD SEE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) INDICATOR TURNED ON IN THE DASHBOARD. AGAIN TO RELEASE THE LOCK, I HAD TO RESTART THE ENGINE. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO NEARBY HONDA DEALER. THE SERVICE ENGINEER SAID THAT HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM!!! WHAT A SHAME!!! HIS TOTAL LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF SUCH A PROBLEM IS MORE WORRISOME THAN THE ACTUAL DEFECT ITSELF. WHILE IDLING DOWN THE STREET , I NOTICED THAT THE TACHOMETER INDICATED AN RPM OF LESS THAN 500. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO MOVE FORWARD AND HAD NO RESPONSE . THE ACCELERATOR WAS THEN DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH STILL NO RESPONSE. THE ACCELERATOR WAS THE LETUP ALL OF THE WAY AND DEPRESSED AGAIN AND THE ENGINE SPEEDED UP AS NORMAL. THIS SAME PROBLEM WAS EXPERIENCED IN A 2013 HONDA THAT WE JUST TRADED IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THAT EXISTED FOR THE TWO YEARS THAT WE OWNED IT. THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF IT OCCURRED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR ON A FREEWAY. HONDA SAYS THAT THESE ARE THE ONLY TWO VEHICLES THAT HAVE EVER BEEN REPORTED WITH THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. THE SEAT IN THIS VEHICLE, WHICH I HAVE OWNED FOR 2 DAYS, IS NOT ONLY UNCOMFORTABLE, IT CAUSES SEVERE LEFT LEG NUMBNESS, PAIN, TINGLING, BURNING THAT DOESN'T RESOLVE WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A STEP ABOVE DISCOMFORT, IT IS A LONG-TERM, POSSIBLY SHORT-TERM HEALTH HAZARD, AS I DON'T KNOW THAT I COULD HANDLE ANOTHER 1 HR DRIVE IN THE VEHICLE AND STILL WALK WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. INITIAL USE OF THE AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM PUTS THE PASSENGER CABIN INTO "AIR RECIRCULATION" MODE IN ORDER TO BRING THE TEMPERATURE DOWN AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL NOT TURN AIR RECIRCULATION OFF UNTIL THE INTERIOR AIR TEMPERATURE HAS REACHED THE TEMPERATURE ASKED FOR. THIS CAN TAKE A LONG TIME. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD FOR YEARS THAT IT ISN'T SAFE TO LEAVE RECIRCULATION ON FOR TOO LONG DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DANGEROUS EXHAUST GASES ENTERING THE CABIN. RECIRCULATION CAN BE TURNED OFF BY PUSHING A BUTTON BUT HAVING FRESH AIR SOONER SEEMS SAFER TO ME.
