THE SUN VISORS ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX HAVE BEEN BREAKING ROUTINELY ABOUT ONCE A YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THEY SIMPLY REPLACE THE BROKEN VISOR. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE NOT REDESIGNED THE FAULTY VISOR DESIGN AND THEY WILL CONTINUE BREAKING. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, AS THE VISORS BREAK AND HANG OFF BLOCKING THE DRIVERS ABILITY TO CLEARLY SEE THE ROAD. *TR
2006 HONDA CIVIC COUPE - DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SPLIT AND FALLS DOWN TO BLOCK VIEW WHILE DRIVING AND HIT MY HEAD GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. SEEM TO BE A LOT OF COMPLAINT ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME THING. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANT, BUT WAS TOLD IT DIDN'T COVER THESE TYPE OF PARTS. *TR
INCIDENT: 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX AT 25,000 MILES THE STRUT & MOUNT FAILED (2008) AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AT 50,000 MILES THE SAME STRUT & MOUNT FAILED AGAIN BUT DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THIS.(2010) MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME TO BRING CAR TO DEALER AS THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR. READING BLOGS ONLINE I AM LEARNING THAT THIS IS A STRUCTURAL DEFECT NOT RECOGNIZED BY HONDA. AS A CONCERNED CONSUMER, AND, IN LIEU OF THE PROBLEMS WITH TOYOTA, I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE IT BECOMES A LIABILITY ISSUE. *TR
I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK-UP BECAUSE A PARKED CAR WAS IN FRONT OF ME, 2-3 CAR LENGTHS. HOWEVER, THE CAR WENT FORWARD INSTEAD OF REVERSE AND TO MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE, I WAS ON THE DOWNSLOPE OF A HILL. MY CAR WENT FORWARD AND THE MOTOR SHUT-OFF. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SO DID ALL THE OTHER LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO START IT, WHILE ROLLING, BUT NOTHING. MY SON GRABBED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND STOPPED THE CAR. HE SAVED US. I WENT TO HONDA CAR DEALER 2 DAYS LATER AND ASKED THE TECHNICIAN CHECK WHY..BUT THE TECHNICIAN SAID DRIVER WAS NOT PROPERLY OPERATION THE CAR AND DRIVER MUST DO SOMETHING INCORRECTLY. REJECT TO CHECK FOR ME, NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR THIS SITUATION. *TR
SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN THE IMA BATTERY UPGRADE THE CAR BATTERY COMPLETELY DISCHARGES RANDOMLY SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. WHEN THE BATTERY DISCHARGES THE CAR LOOSES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF ITS ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENTS SINCE THIS UPGRADE WHERE I HAVE NEARLY HAD ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. ONCE WHILE TURNING ONTO A BUSY STREET ON A HILL THE BATTERY DISCHARGED AND I LOST THE ACCELERATION AND THE ONCOMING CAR ALMOST HIT ME. I HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I PULLED INTO THE FAST LANE TO PASS A CAR AND I LOST PICK UP AND THE CAR FAR BEHIND QUICKLY CAUGHT UP AND HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS. THE THIRD EPISODE IS WHEN I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON A VERY STEEP HILL. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE FORWARD AGAIN THE BATTERY DISCHARGED AND DESPITE BEING IN THE DRIVE GEAR AND DESPITE PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR I KEPT ROLLING BACKWARDS. I ENDED UP ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWNHILL AND TURNED INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY AND TURNED AROUND. I DROVE AROUND UNTIL THE BATTERY RECHARGED AND THEN WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO DRIVE UP THE HILL. WHEN I BROUGHT THESE CONCERNS UP WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY AGREED THIS DID NOT SOUND NORMAL. AFTER THEY TEST DROVE IT AND RAN TESTS THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM SO THEY CALLED HONDA CENTRAL. THEY WERE TOLD THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE BATTERY TO DISCHARGE RANDOMLY THROUGH OUT THE DAY SINCE THE UPGRADE. WHEN I ASKED HOW DO I DRIVE SAFELY THEY SAID I SHOULD BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE BATTERY DISCHARGING AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF ACCELERATION. *TR
I NOTICED THE CLEAR COAT COMING OFF MY HONDA CIVIC ABOUT A YEAR AGO, AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET IN CONTACT WITH HONDA BUT THE REPRESENTATIVE ONLY COMES EVERY SO MANY MONTHS. WHEN I DID FINALLY GET AHOLD OF HIM AND INFORM HIM OF THE CLEAR COAT COMING OFF WHICH EVEN IN HIS WORDS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. I WAS TOLD SINCE OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD DO NOTHING EVEN THOUGH I I FORMED HIM OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CLEAR COAT. HONDA ADMITTING A PROBLEM BUT REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE VALUED CUSTOMER. *TT
2006 HONDA CIVIC - SUNVISOR FELL APART DRIVERS SIDE SUNVISOR FELL APART AND OBSTRUCTED VIEW WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. PERFORMED RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. HONDA NEEDS A REDESIGNED SUNVISOR AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I.E. VIEW OBSTRUCTED WHILE TRAVELING IN TRAFFIC. *TR
CAR WAS MAKING LOUD NOISE BUT I COULDN'T TELL WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM (EXCEPT SOMEWHERE UNDERNEATH) KIND OF A GRINDING NOISE. I PURCHASED NEW TIRES ABOUT 12 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE THE TIRES FROM THE FACTORY WEREN'T GOOD IN SNOW (OR SO I THOUGHT). I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I'D NEED CONTROLLER ARMS AND NEW TIRES BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE VERY WORN. IT'S A 2006 HONDA CIVIC AND ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON THOSE TIRES. THE WHOLE THING IS GOING TO COST ME ALMOST $1000.00 BUT "THE GUY AT THE DEALER SAID "WELL, YOU GET A $50.00 REBATE FOR THE TIRES" OH BOY!! IT ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE EITHER OF COURSE. I WILL BE CONTACTING HONDA USA TO TALK TO THEM BUT HAVE SEEN FROM THIS WEBSITE THAT IT WON'T DO ANY GOOD. BUT I STILL HAVE TO TRY...I AM DISGUSTED WITH THIS AS I BOUGHT A HONDA BECAUSE THEY HAVE SUCH GLOWING RELIABILITY AND SAFETY REPORTS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A RATTLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. HE THEN SAW SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE. HE PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE SAT FOR ONE DAY AND WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, IT STALLED. THE CONTACT POURED WATER INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 51,793.
PURCHASED CERTIFIED 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX SEDAN LAST AUG. 2009 AFTER 11,200 MILES OF DRIVING THIS THE CAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE DOWN. PLASTIC CRACKED AND WENT STEADY DOWN. I'M IN HOUSTON, TX MY CONCLUSION IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY PURPOSE BY THE MAKERS OF THIS CHEAP CRAP VISOR. FOR 24 YRS. I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC WITH 59,700 MILES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THREE SUN VISORS DURING THE PAST THREE YEARS BECAUSE THE PLASTIC CASING SPLITS, CAUSING THE VISOR TO HANG DOWN (IT WILL NOT STAY UP). I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE IMA SYSTEM AND SINCE THEN, THE GAS MILEAGE AND PERFORMANCE IS DOWN A GOOD BIT. THE ACCELERATION IS THE DANGEROUS THING - SOMETIMES THE ACCELERATION IS QUITE SLUGGISH AND THIS IS DUE TO THIS SOFTWARE UPGRADE DESIGNED TO MAKE THE BATTERY PACK LAST LONGER SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE IT. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC. DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR HAS CRACKED. WON'T STAY CLOSED (RETRACTED AGAINST THE CEILING). FALLS DOWN IN FRONT OF VIEW FREQUENTLY. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS SINCE 2006 WHEN THE SUN VISOR DESIGN WAS MODIFIED TO ITS CURRENT DESIGN. SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. SOLUTIONS INCLUDE: 1) REMOVING THE SUN VISOR; NOT SAFE. 2) IGNORING THE PROBLEM; WHEN SUN VISOR FALLS DOWN IN FRONT OF EYES IT'S NOT SAFE. 3) REPLACING THE SUN VISOR; HONDA REFUSES TO PROVIDE A FREE REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS GOOD DOCUMENTATION ON THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM AND DURATION OF THE PROBLEM. BOUGHT CAR IN MAY 2006, BY AUG 2006 I WAS ONLY GETTING 36 MILES PER GALLON. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER. THEY SAID THEY REPLACED A PART TO FIX PROBLEM. PROBLEM NOT FIXED! BROUGHT CAR BACK 3 MORE TIMES AND DEALER SAID I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WRONG. I TOLD THEM TO KEEP THE CAR FOR A WEEK, THEY DID BUT STILL COULD NOT GET THE MILEAGE OVER 37 MPG. THEY TOLD US THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. WENT THROUGH 3 BACK TIRES ON DRIVERS SIDE. THEY STILL WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! I HAD TO PAY FOR IT! THE CAR WAS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. FINALLY WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THEY FOUND THAT SOMETHING WAS BROKEN BY THE BACK TIRE (WHICH IS WHY I HAD TO KEEP REPLACING THEM) AND I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. ALL OF THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THAT WAS IN SEPTEMBER 2010. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT'S WHY I NEVER GOT THE MILEAGE I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET. THAT WAS WHEN THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO GET THE SOFTWARE UPDATE!! NOW MY CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE! THE BATTERY DOESN'T CHARGE, THE CAR CANT ACCELERATE! THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THE FOREMAN TOLD HONDA AMERICA THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE AND HONDA AMERICA DOESN'T CARE! I FILED A CLAIM AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I JUST NEED TO GET USED TO DRIVING IT DIFFERENTLY! WHEN I PRESSED THEM AND TOLD THEM MY CAR IS NOW UNDRIVABLE, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NOTHING ELSE TO SAY TO ME! HONDA REALLY MESSED THIS ONE UP! PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET KILLED DRIVING THESE CARS....AND THEY KNOW IT! MY CAR WAS A LEMON SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT! PAID $5,000.00 EXTRA FOR IT , NEVER GOT THE MPG, AND NOW I CANT DRIVE IT! *TR
I'VE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR TIRES WEARING OUT QUICKLY, AND VIBRATIONS WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 50 MPH. YESTERDAY THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SEPARATED, AND STARTED SMOKING. MY HONDA CIVIC EX 2006 MODEL SUDDENLY STARTED OVERHEATING PROBLEM, I REALIZED THIS AFTER MY RECENT OIL CHANGE AT HONDA ROUND ROCK TEXAS. ENTERED PARKED CAR AND WHILE PREPARING TO BEGIN DRIVING, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR UNEXPECTEDLY FAILED, HANGING DOWN OBSTRUCTING DRIVER'S VIEW. WHILE AN ATTEMPT TO REPOSITION THE SUN VISOR WAS MADE, THE VISOR WOULD NOT KEEP THE POSITION AND WOULD RETURN TO THE HANGING DOWN POSITION, MAKING SAFE DRIVING IMPOSSIBLE. ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO REPOSITION THE VISOR, THIS TIME SQUEEZING THE SPLIT PLASTIC TOGETHER, AT THE HINGE, SUCCEEDED PLACING THE VISOR OUT OF THE WAY. THE VISOR HAS NOT BEEN REPOSITIONED SINCE. I HAVE RESEARCHED REPORTS AND EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE VISOR, THE PROBLEM RETURNS, OFTEN MUCH LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. IT SEEMS THE FAILURE IS MORE A FUNCTION OF HEAT EXPOSURE, THAN TIME. IN MY CASE, THE HEAT IS NOT AN ISSUE. I DRIVE THE CAR BACK AND FORTH TO WORK ONLY, AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS USUALLY 60 TO 70 DEG. F. *TR
I HAVE ON '06 CIVIC HYBRID AND THE BATTERY IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IT CRASHES OFTEN WHERE ONE SECOND IT SHOWS MORE THAN 1/2 CHARGE, AND THE NEXT THE ACCELERATION AND POWER IS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE AND THE CHARGE LEVEL DROPS TO ZERO. NOT GOOD WHEN YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. HONDA HAS ISSUED A NOTICE TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE THAT BASICALLY COMPROMISE SAFETY, POWER AND FUEL ECONOMY SO HONDA CAN GET YOU THROUGH THE WARRANTY PERIOD WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE YOUR BATTERY. I FEAR THAT THE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND POWER IS UNSAFE, AND THAT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT CLAIMS TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS SIMPLY AN ATTEMPT BY HONDA TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF A FAULTY BATTERY BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD. *TR
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAD THE TSB09-007 RECALL PERFORMED TO REROUTE THE DRIVE BELT AND REPLACE THE PIVOT BOLT ON 3/9/2009. THE BOLT BROKE AFTER ANOTHER 20000MILES ON 8/21/2010. I DO NOT THINK MY DEALER REPLACED THE BOLT IN QUESTION (HOFFMAN HONDA OF WEST SIMSBURY CONNECTICUT) OR THE RECALL IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE TSB CLEARLY STATES THIS FAILURE CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. *TR
VEHICLE'S AUDIO/RADIO NOT WORKING. 65, 000 MILES, ONE OWNER. RADIO SWITCHES TO AND FROM DIFFERENT OUTPUTS. ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS FROM OCCURRING IS TO SHUT RADIO OFF. ONCE PROBLEM STARTS, IT WILL HAPPEN MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY UNTIL SCREEN DIMS OUT AND RADIO SHUTS DOWN. *TR
WE PURCHASED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX BACK IN LATE 2008. BACK IN THE SUMMER OF 2010, THE AIR CONDITIONER JUST DIED. IT BLEW AIR, JUST NOT COLD AIR. HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTEE, AND THAT IT WOULD COST US $950 FOR REPAIRS.

AT 34,347 MILES BEGAN NOTICING IMA BATTERY DOESN'T LAST LONG AND MAKES ACCELERATION DIFFICULT. AT 62, 430 MILES I AM CONCERNED FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. CAR EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE EVEN ON STREETS. AT 69,388 PROBLEMS CONTINUE WITH A NOTICEABLE DIP IN GAS MILEAGE. AT 90,747 MILES IMA BATTERY SENSOR INDICATES A PROBLEM. BATTERY NOT WORKING PROPERLY. 3. PER HONDA AT EACH SERVICE ONLY SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. NO PARTS REPLACED. THEREFORE, BATTERY IS STILL ONLY CHARGES UP TO HALFWAY. THE BATTERY ISN'T CONSISTENTLY DEAD TO START WITH BUT IT DOES DIE DOWN AGAIN WITH DRIVING. *TR

I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HONDA THAT MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO STOP PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE. HAD UPDATE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER A HYBRID CAR. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN NYC TRAFFIC AS IT NOW HAS NO BATTERY ASSIST WHEN THE BATTERY IS AT A 50% CHARGE. *TR

MY 2006 CIVIC HYBRID WAS GIVEN A SOFTWARE UPDATE BY HONDA ON 8/5/2010 FOLLOWING A CAMPAIGN INITIATED BY HONDA TO ADDRESS LOSS OF POWER AND PERFORMANCE DUE TO IMA HYBRID BATTERY DETERIORATION AND FAILURE. PRIOR TO THE UPDATE THE VEHICLE WOULD OFTEN LOSE BATTERY CHARGE SUDDENLY, RESULTING IN A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER AND AT ONE POINT STRANDING ME IN AN INTERSECTION WHILE TURNING LEFT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN JULY, 2010. THE MOST RECENT UPDATE (I HAVE HAD SEVERAL FROM HONDA IN OVER THE 4.25 YRS OF OWNERSHIP) HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE OF SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER FROM TRANSIENT BATTERY FAILURES THAT OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING, OFTEN WHEN ACCELERATING UP STEEP INCLINES OR ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. IN ADDITION TO THE ONGOING ISSUES, THE HYBRID BATTERY NOW FAILS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE ASSISTANCE WHEN ACCELERATING, MERGING INTO HIGH-SPEED TRAFFIC, ETC. AND EXPERIENCES WIDE FLUCTUATIONS IN CHARGE, JUMPING FROM 1/3 CHARGE TO COMPLETELY FULL WITH SUDDEN DROPS OF A SIMILAR FASHION. THESE FLUCTUATIONS CONTINUE TO OCCUR REGARDLESS OF DRIVING CONDITIONS, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, ACCESSORY OR A/C USE OR OTHER EXTENUATING FACTORS AND OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK, AND MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY ON OCCASION (6 BATTERY FAILURES IN THE LAST WEEK ALONE SINCE THE UPDATE). I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HONDA THAT MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO STOP PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE. HAD UPDATE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER A HYBRID CAR. IT BASICALLY RUNS OFF THE ENGINE. THE ONLY TIME THE INTEGRATE MOTOR ASSIST UNIT WORKS IS WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST MOVING FROM A STOP, AND EVEN THEN IT IS RELATIVELY USELESS. THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY WAS EXCELLENT. MOTOR ASSIST WORKED GREAT. HONDA ISSUED RECALL UPDATE TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF CLAIMS FOR EARLY BATTERY FAILURE. THEY HAVE SHUT OFF THE HYBRID SYSTEM IN ORDER TO STOP BATTERY FAILURE WHICH WOULD HAVE COST THEM OVER $2000 PER CAR TO REPLACE. THEY HAVE NOT EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES OF EXISTING OWNERS LIKE MYSELF WHO HAVE 60,000 MILES. THE BATTERY WILL NOW LAST TO THE END OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD BECAUSE IT NO LONGER NEEDS TO WORK. ACCORDING TO THE DASHBOARD, THE CAR IS CONSTANTLY CHARGING THE BATTERY, EVEN WHEN I PUSH THE PEDAL TO GET ONTO A HIGHWAY. THIS IS NOT THE HYBRID CAR I PURCHASED AND USED FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. IT IS BASICALLY A GAS ENGINE WITH 40 HP. FIRST SET OF TIRES REPEATEDLY BECAME CUPPED AND CAUSED HIGH ROAD NOISE. REAR END BOUNCED AND SWAYED. REPEATED TIRE ROTATIONS AND SPIN BALANCING OF ALL FOUR WHEELS FAILED TO RECTIFY. I REPLACED TIES AT 33,800. SECOND SET OF TIRE BECAUSE CUPPED, REAR END UNSTABLE. TIRE ROTATION MADE PROBLEM WORSE. REPLACED REAR SHOCKS. NO EFFECT; CONTINUED UNSTABLE AND REAR END SWAYED. WHEN ON ROUGH PAVEMENT. SECOND SET OF TIRES CUPPED AND NOISY BY 33,000 MILES. WENT TO HONDA DEALER ASKED FOR COMPLETE ANALYSIS. THEY SAID FRONT END AND SUSPENSION ARE SOUND. I WAS TOLD THAT WE HAVE "OUTDATED" UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON THE REAR WHEELS THAT ARE "FAMOUS IN HONDA GARAGES FOR EATING TIRES." SERVICE MANAGER SAID THESE PARTS MUST BE REPLACED BEFORE ALIGNMENT IS POSSIBLE. HE SAID THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A RECALL ISSUED. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA. THEY INFORMED ME THEY DID WANT TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE AND THAT THEY WOULD OFFER A SMALL AMOUNT TOWARD MY REPLACING THE PARTS. IN RESPONSE TO AUGUST, 2010 RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA FOR 2006 CIVIC HYBRID, I HAD THE INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST (IMA) SOFTWARE UPDATED AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 8/4/2010. SINCE THEN, THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN EXECUTING THE IMA BATTERY RECALIBRATION ROUTINE WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY, TO THE POINT NOW WHERE THE RECALIBRATION IS OCCURRING 1-2 TIMES PER DAY AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES DURING MY COMMUTE TO AND FROM WORK. DURING THE RECALIBRATION PERIOD OF ABOUT 5-7 MINUTES, THE IMA IS NOT AVAILABLE TO ASSIST ACCELERATION. THE ACCELERATION IS SUDDENLY SLUGGISH WHEN RECALIBRATION BEGINS, AND DOES NOT RESUME ITS NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC UNTIL THE RECALIBRATION FINISHES. THE CAR IS SEVERELY UNDERPOWERED AND CAN BE DANGEROUS WHEN THE EXPECTED ACCELERATION FOR ENTERING A FREEWAY OR MAKING A TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, DOES NOT OCCUR. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED MY HUSBAND TO INFORM HIM THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED.
