GREAT CAR FOR THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. STARTED LOSING HYBRID BATTERY POWER AND HYBRID ASSIST AROUND 8.09 POWER AND MILEAGE SUFFER MULTIPLE TRIP TO DEALER AND SEVERAL SOFTWARE PATCHES INSTALLED. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO LOSE BATTERY AT WORST POSSIBLE TIME AND SUDDENLY START AT STOPLIGHTS THIS IS MY WIFE'S PRIMARY VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK AND SCHOOL BY HERSELF IN THE RIDESHARE LINE. SHE NO LONGER DRIVES THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I FEAR FOR HER SAFETY ON BUSY CALIFORNIA FREEWAYS. HYBRID BATTERY FINALLY REPLACED BY HONDA AFTER CONSULTING AN ATTORNEY AND MENTIONING ALL THE FOLKS ON THE NHTSA SITE HAVING THE SAME CONCERN. SUDDEN STARTS AT STOPS NO LONGER THERE BUT STILL HAS A TOTAL LACK OF POWER ON ACCELERATION DUE TO NEW SOFTWARE PACKAGE DESIGNED TO SAVE THE BATTERY RECEIVED NEW RECALL LETTER FOR HYBRID SYSTEM THAT STATES IT WILL FURTHER REDUCE HYBRID USAGE, THERE IS NO WAY I AM GOING TO HAVE THAT PATCH INSTALLED THIS CAR IS USELESS TO MY FAMILY NOW AND RECENTLY TRIED TO TRADE IT IN, DEALERSHIP DO NOT WANT IT DUE TO THE RISING CONCERN WITH CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS, LOUSY MILEAGE, ETC I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO SOMEBODY ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND EVEN PROVIDE IT TO YOU TO DRIVE AND TEST. THIS PROBLEM IS AMPLIFIED IN WARM WEATHER AND WHEN THE A/C IS ON. THIS CAR DID NOT DO THIS IN THE FIRST TO YEARS OF SERVICE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AS POWERFUL AS USUAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST WAS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE PROBLEM HAD CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE SOFTWARE SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,381 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SAFETY ISSUED IS THAT IMA BATTERIES LOSE THEIR ABILITY TO HOLD A CHARGE AND THE REPROGRAMMING IMPLEMENTED BY HONDA CAUSES THE ACCELERATION CAPABILITY OF THE VEHICLE TO BECOME EXTREMELY ERRATIC. SOMETIMES, IT WILL ACCELERATE NORMALLY AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. UPDATED 03/11/11
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID WHICH IS EXPERIENCING IMA SYSTEM PROBLEMS. ACCORDING TO HONDA, EVERYTHING IS FINE, BUT THE BATTERY WON'T HOLD MUCH CHARGE. IN ADDITION, HONDA INSTALLED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE CAR'S COMPUTER THAT CHANGES THE WAY THE ENGINE IS MANAGED, USING THE IMA SYSTEM LESS AND NOT ALLOWING THE BATTERY CHARGE TO GO BELOW 1/2 CHARGE. AS A RESULT, THE IMA SYSTEM WILL ONLY WORK (RANDOMLY) ABOUT HALF THE TIME THE CAR IS RUNNING. SO ENGINE POWER WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT CRUCIAL TIMES, I.E. ACCELERATING, PULLING OUT AT AN INTERSECTION, ETC. THIS MAKES THE CAR UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE. THERE ARE MANY HONDA CIVIC HYBRID OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM (AS WITNESSED THROUGH ONLINE FORUMS) AND HAVE RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE FROM HONDA, 'EVERYTHING IS OPERATING NORMALLY'. WHEN MY CAR SITS IN THE SUN FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME, MY SUN VISORS WILL NOT STAY UP, FLAT AGAINST THE CEILING OF THE CAR. THE DROOP DOWN, SOMETIMES INTO MY VISION. I HAVE CALLED HONDA ABOUT A REPLACEMENT, BUT BECAUSE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME APPROX $150 TO REPLACE BOTH SUN VISORS. THE VISORS ARE BEING USED NORMALLY, UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. *TR
REAR WHEELS UPPER CONTROL ARM (SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001). I HAVE A 2006 CIVIC HYBRID THAT WEARS THE INNER EDGE OF THE TIRES EXCESSIVELY. CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF THE UPPER CONTROL ARM. HAVING READ OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THIS SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL OR REPLACEMENT. NOT JUST A SERVICE BULLETIN. IT WILL COST ME APPROX. $327 FOR THIS REPAIR AND HONDA SHOULD COVER IT EVEN THOUGH MY CAR HAS EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY PERIOD DO TO MILEAGE. IN AUG 2008 I REPLACED THE FACTORY DUNLOP TIRES BECAUSE THEY WERE EXCESSIVELY NOISY AND RODE RUFF. I HAD A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH THE NEW TIRES 36500 MI. AND AGAIN IN MAY 2009 55441 MI AND AGAIN JULY 2009 BECAUSE OF THE UNEVEN WEARING OF THE TIRES, AFTER THE 3RD ALIGNMENT 61400MI .THE DEALERSHIP MADE ME AWARE OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN 008-001. THE FIRST TWO ALIGNMENTS WERE DONE AT THE TIRE SHOP. BUT I HAVE HAD ALL MY OIL CHANGES DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. HAD THERE BEEN A RECALL THE MECHANICS WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AWARE AND I WOULDN'T HAVE CUT THE TIRE LIVE BY HALF. REQUEST THAT THIS SERVICE BULLETIN BE ALLEVIATED TO A NATIONAL RECALL DUE TO DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF THE CONTROL ARMS. *TR
2006 HONDA CIVIC LX - DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR HAS FAILED TWICE. I'M 6' AND WITH THE VISOR FALLING DOWN COMPLETELY BLOCKS MY VIEW OF THE ROAD PREVENTING SAFE DRIVING. MY WIFE IS 5'-4" AND NEEDS THE VISOR TO PROTECT FROM SUN GLARE. HONDA REPLACED THE FIRST ONE UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE PART HAS FAILED AGAIN IN LESS THAN A YEAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. EVIDENTLY THE HEAT IS CAUSING THE GLUE TO FAIL AND THE VISOR TO SPLIT OPEN. FROM RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS EVIDENTLY A VERY COMMON RECURRING PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.... I WOULD HATE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLY HURT SOMEONE OR HURT MYSELF BECAUSE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD. *TR
MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR HAS CRACKED AND WILL NO LONGER GO INTO THE UPRIGHT POSITION WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE. THIS HAPPENED ONCE 2 YEARS AGO AND HONDA REPLACED IT, BUT THE NEW ONE DID THE EXACT SAME THING. THE VISOR BLOCKS MY VISION AND IS ALSO IN A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS POSITION IF I WAS TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT OR FRONT IMPACT BECAUSE MY HEAD WILL SLAM RIGHT INTO THE SIDE OF THE VISOR. THE VISOR DOES NOT MEET TESTING STANDARD S8.5 OF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION AND DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATIONS CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS SEC. 571.201 WHICH STATES: SUN VISORS. EACH SUN VISOR SHALL BE PLACED IN ANY POSITION WHERE ONE SIDE OF THE VISOR IS IN CONTACT WITH THE VEHICLE INTERIOR SURFACE (WINDSHIELD, SIDE RAIL, FRONT HEADER, ROOF, ETC.). MY SUNVISOR WILL NOT CONTACT THESE SURFACES. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2006+ CIVICS; THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR IT. HONDA WILL REPLACE THEM IF YOU ARE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT HONDA HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE THE PART FOR ME AND MANY OTHERS, BECAUSE WE ARE JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. EXCESSIVE WEAR AND CUPPING OF REAR TIRES ON HONDA CIVIC 2006 HYBRID. I HAD TO REPLACE ORIGINAL TIRES AT 29,000. THE REAR TIRE WERE CUPPED BADLY. I DID ROTATE EVERY 6-8,000 MILES. I HAVE 12,000 ON THE REPLACEMENT TIRES AND THE REAR TIRES WERE AGAIN CUPPED AT TIME OF ROTATION. *TR
WHEN TEMPERATURES RISE INSIDE OF THE CAR, THE PLASTIC MECHANISMS HOLDING THE VISOR ONTO THE METAL ARM, BREAKS AND RENDERS THE VISOR USELESS. THE VISORS THEN HANG STRAIGHT DOWN AT ALL TIMES, MAKING VISION WHILE DRIVING EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I HAVE HAD THEM BOTH REPLACED ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AT THE SAME DEALER. THE ONLY "REPAIR" MADE, WAS PLACEMENT OF A NEW VISOR. (WHICH WILL THEN WILL BREAK ONCE THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS HOT ENOUGH.) (AGAIN.) *TR
TIRE FAILURE ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC. I HAVE HAD UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. I HAVE HAD MY TIRES ROTATED REGULARLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE HAD THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED, BOUGHT NEW TIRES ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC THAT IS GETTING SEVERE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON THE BACK TIRES. HONDA DOES HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN (08-001) ABOUT DESIGN FLAW IN THE CONTROL ARMS THAT ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE, IN MY EXPERIENCE, THAT THEY REALLY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING UNLESS YOU PUSH THE ISSUE. AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR THE FIX. UNFORTUNATELY, I PREMATURELY RUINED TWO SETS OF TIRES BEFORE I WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I AM CURRENTLY FIGHTING WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO DO THE REPAIR AT NO CHARGE AND AM HAVING NO LUCK. *TR
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS BROKE AND ARE DANGLING. WILL BE OUT OF WARRANTY IN 3 WEEKS SO WILL BE GETTING REPLACED BY THE DEALER THIS WEEK. *TR
AS MANY OF 06-07 HONDA CIVIC OWNERS ARE AWARE OF, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES. THERE IS EVEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OUT AGAINST HONDA AS PROFILED HERE: HTTP://SETTLEMENT-CLAIMS.COM/CONTROLARM/INDEX.HTML AT THIS WEBSITE. AFTER I CALLED TO SUBMIT A CLAIM I WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE OF MY CAR BEING A SALVAGE VEHICLE, THAT I WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO HAVE HONDA PAY FOR MY REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH IT LEGITIMATELY HAS THE PROBLEM. THE WOMAN FROM THE HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ORGANIZATION TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT A RECALL BUT AN "EXTENDED WARRANTY" AND THAT'S WHY THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR A ONCE SALVAGE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY IS VOID. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE JUDGE IN THE CASE SAID THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE SO THEREFORE DID NOT HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED A RECALL. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! TRY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DOWN A WET OR SNOW COVERED ROAD. ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS A SECTION OF ROAD THAT IS DRY THEN TRANSITIONING INTO A WET STRETCH OF ROAD, SUCH AS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN GOING DOWN A TREE LINED ROAD WHERE SOME TREES KEEP THE PAVEMENT DRY DURING A RAINSTORM. OR DRIVING ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD THAT HAS OCCASIONAL SPOTS THAT HAVE LITTLE OR NO SNOW ON THEM. THE REAR END WILL ACTUALLY SHIFT, SOMETIMES VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE ALMOST TO A POINT OF LOSING CONTROL. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FOR A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT ON TWO OCCASIONS, NEITHER OF WHICH HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM, ONLY TO NOW REALIZE THAT THESE SHORTENED UPPER CONTROL ARMS ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL! IT SHOULD STILL BE TURNED INTO ONE! IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
2006 HONDA CIVIC EX DEFECTIVE UPPER REAR CONTROL ARM WHICH HONDA POORLY DESIGNED SO THAT IT IS TOO SHORT FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND. HAD TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM AT A COST OF APPROX. $700 PRIOR TO A 5,000 MILE TRIP BECAUSE TIRES WERE CUPPING AND WEARING POORLY AND HANDLING WAS IMPACTED ESPECIALLY IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. *TR
2006 HONDA CIVIC ENGINE CRACKED FROM OVERHEATING ONLY 42000 MILES. THE DEALER SAYS IT WAS FROM MY NEGLECT-HOWEVER I FOLLOWED THEIR GUIDE BOOK. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HONDA WOULD TREAT A LOYAL CUSTOMER THIS WAY JUST TO SAVE A BUCK. FROM DOING RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. WHO WILL STAND UP FOR THE CONSUMER. *TR
WHILE PUTTING MY CAR VISOR DOWN TO BLOCK SUN ON THE DRIVER SIDE, THE LEFT HINGE MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE, "SPLITTING" THE VISOR OPEN. IT WILL NO LONGER LOCK IN AN OPEN OR CLOSED POSITION, MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS IT FLAPS DOWN IN FRONT OF ONE'S EYE WHEN DRIVING. NO TAPE OR OTHER FIX SEEMS TO WORK. OF COURSE, I AM TWO MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
SUN VISOR SPLIT AND WILL NOT STAY IN UP POSITION, CAUSING VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. *TR
REAR TIRE FAILURE DUE TO IMPROPER REAR CONTROL ARMS. INSIDE TREAD OF REAR TIRES WEAR EXCEEDINGLY FAST AND DEVELOP CUPPING. HONDA HAS A TSB FOR THIS, BUT HAS NOT HAD A RECALL. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS TO PEOPLE WHO JUST DRIVE THEIR CARS, BUT DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE MECHANICS OF THE VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT SEEMS THAT THIS ONLY OCCURS ON 2006 AND 2007 CIVICS BECAUSE IN 2008 HONDA MADE A CHANGE IN THE PRODUCTION BY CHANGING THE CONTROL ARMS. *TR
WHEN LOWERED, FOUND THE THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR HAD SPLIT OPEN AND WOULD NOT HOLD IN AN UP POSITION POSITION. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SPLIT AT SEAM AND WON'T STAY IN POSITION. I IMPROVISED A REPAIR. *TT
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS COME APART AT THE HARD-PLASTIC SEAMS AND FAIL TO RETRACT BACK INTO THE HEADLINER ONCE THEY ARE ENGAGED, LEAVING THEM BLOCKING DRIVER'S VIEW AT ALL TIMES. THEY CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO ANY GRADUAL POSITIONING. THEY SIMPLY HANG STRAIGHT DOWN. HONDA ADMITTED THE PROBLEM AND HAS SAID THEY ONLY WARRANTED REPLACEMENT FOR 7 YEARS. WHEN CAR WAS IN WARRANTY, DEALER PROMISED HONDA WOULD REPLACE AS LONG AS THE CAR HAD THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THIS IS A SIMPLE ENGINEERING FIX THAT HONDA WILL NOT ADDRESS. IT IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE AS I CANNOT GET REPLACEMENTS (VISORS LAST, ON AVERAGE 15-18 MONTHS AND MUST BE REPLACED CONSTANTLY) AND THE VISORS NOW HANG, OBSTRUCTING MY OUTWARD VIEW TO THE SIDE AND THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD.
DRIVER SIDE VISOR ON 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX SPLIT IN CENTER. THE VISOR DOES NOT STAY PUT AND OBSTRUCTS DRIVERS VIEW. PIECES OF PLASTIC FROM INSIDE THE VISOR FALL WITH ANY ATTEMPT OF MOVING THE VISOR WHILE DRIVING. I CALLED HONDA AMERICA AT 1-800-999-1009 IN WHICH THEY ADVISED ME TO CALL A DEALER TO GET AN ESTIMATE ON VISOR AS MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND, FAILING TO SPEAK WITH ME, RETURN MY CALLS. AFTER SECOND CALL TO HONDA THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING AS MY CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
OWN A '06 HONDA CIVIC EX: ONLY OWNER. BOTH SUN VISORS SPLIT AT HINGE SAME DAY. REMOVED FOIL SUN SCREEN AND RAISED BOTH VISORS AT SAME TIME WHICH RESULTED IN BOTH VISORS SPLITTING OPEN. BOTH ARE INOPERABLE AT THIS TIME. HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS ONLINE, SOME FOLKS HAVE EVEN REPLACED THEM WITH OEM REPLACEMENTS ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN. LOTS OF POSTS FROM THE SOUTH WEST, WHERE THE HEAT IS MORE INTENSE. I LIVE IN OHIO WHERE THE HEAT IS MORE MODERATE AND HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AT TIME OF THIS POSTING, THERE WERE 42 OTHER SIMILAR POSTINGS. *TR
OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. HAVING TROUBLE WITH UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES. I HAVE HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AT 38,000 AND BOUGHT EXPENSIVE TIRES FOR REPLACEMENT. NOW 20,000 MILES LATER, HAVING CUPPING AND NEEDING REPLACEMENT AGAIN. (TIRES HAVE BEEN ALIGNED AND ROTATED.) *TR
SUN VISORS CRACKED FOR 3RD TIME SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR (NEW) ON OCT 4TH 2006. WHEN THEY CRACK, THEY CAN'T BE PUT BACK IN PLACE, AND THEY HANG DOWN INTERFERING WITH VISION. HONDA REFUSES A RECALL, THOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT DEFECTIVE ADHESIVE IS USED. *TR
I OWN A HONDA CIVIC LX 2006. THE CURRENT MILEAGE AS OF 06/18/2009 IS ~40K MILES. WE STARTED NOTICING A LOT OF NOISE FROM OUR REAR TIRES WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS EVEN AS LOW AS 30 MPH. WE ALSO NOTICED SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 60 MPH. THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE EVERY DAY. WE TOOK OUR CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP (ROUND ROCK HONDA), DESCRIBED THE ISSUE IN DETAIL AND REQUESTED THEM TO LOOK AT THE ISSUE. THEY NOTICED EXTREME UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES. THEY HAVE GIVEN ME WRITTEN NOTICE THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR CONTROL ARM AND THE REAR TIRES. I FURTHER FOUND OUT FROM WEB COMPLAINTS THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOW FREQUENTLY OCCURRING ISSUE ON HONDA CIVIC 2006 MODEL CARS. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 10024687) ON THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER (ROUND ROCK HONDA) IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE REAR CONTROL ARM OF THE CAR CLAIMING THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL NOTICE AND I AM OUT OF WARRANTY (CALLED THEM ON 06/18/2009). I BOUGHT A HONDA CIVIC NEW IN 2006 AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK COUNTLESS NUMBER OF TIMES TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NOISE AND UN-EVEN TIRE WEAR. I REPLACED THE FIRST SET OF TIRES AFTER THE NOISE BECAME SO BAD YOU COULD NOT HAVE A CONVERSATION WITHOUT SHOUTING. THE MILEAGE ON THE FIRST SET OF TIRES WAS 31,000. THE NEXT SET OF TIRES LASTED A LITTLE LONGER, ONLY BECAUSE I ROTATED THEM EVERY 3,000 MILES. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED OF AN ISSUE WITH THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS. HONDA WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE PARTS OR LABOR BUT INSISTED THAT THE TIRES WOULD NOT WEAR EVEN UNLESS I HAD THE CONTROL ARMS REPLACED. *TR
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE FIRST TIME WAS, MAY 26, 2009, AND THE SECOND TIME, JANUARY 15, 2010. WHEN THIS OCCURRED I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN APPLYING THE BRAKE TRAVELING ABOUT 10 MPH. THE BRAKE BEGAN TO FADE AND THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, WHICH CAUSED THE MOTOR TO INCREASE IN RPM AND THEN WENT INTO IDEAL, WHICH ALL HAPPENED IN A FEW SECONDS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENGINE BLOCK WITH NO OUT-OF-POCKET COST. I WAS FORTUNATE. HOWEVER, I'M STILL NOT HAPPY WITH THE CAR BECAUSE I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE STARTER AT 66,000 MILES AND THEN THE SUSPENSION PROBLEMS AT 88,000 MILES. HONDA DEALERSHIPS HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THESE ARE DEFECTS IN THE CAR AND ARE WIDELY KNOWN BUT HONDA REFUSES TO COVER REPAIRS OR WILL ONLY PAY FOR PARTIAL REPAIRS. THE ENGINE BLOCK IS A CASTING PROBLEM PER THE DEALERSHIP AND THE REAR WHEELS ARE A CONTROL ARM PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES PREMATURE UNEVEN WEAR AND POSSIBLE BLOWOUT. HONDA REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE CONTROL ARMS AT ALL. THANKFULLY WE DID NOT HAVE ANY CRASHES OR INJURIES DUE TO CATCHING THE PROBLEM BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENED. HE WAS ORIGINALLY WANTING TO REPAIR IT FOR ME BUT WAS OVERULLED BY HIS REGIONAL MANAGER WHO SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WENT ON TO SEND COMPLAINTS HIGHER UP THE CHAIN AT HONDA BUT CONTINUED TO BE TOLD I WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY SO THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME AND THAT IT WOULD END UP COSTING ME OVER $5000 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I THEN ENDED UP HAVING TO GO TO A PRIVATE GARAGE AND ENDED UP SPENDING $2,878.53 IN 7/2009 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, PLUS $432.96 FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR ME TO DRIVE.
