THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FELL OFF ONTO MY LAP WHILE DRIVING. THIS DEFECT OCCURRED JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. WHEN NEEDED I MANUALLY INSTALL THE VISOR ONTO THE POST AND LOCK IT IN. IT SWINGS BACK AND FORTH UNDER ACCELERATION AND BRAKING. WHEN NOT NEED I REMOVE IT FOR BETTER VISIBILITY. I AM PLANNING ON HAVING IT REPAIRED BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHERS AND HONDA IS NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. *TR
MY REAR TIRES CUP AND MAKE EXCESSIVE ROAD NOISE AND CAUSES CAR TO SHAKE. HONDA REPLACED THE CONTROL ARMS AS PART OF A SERVICE BULLETIN AND PAID FOR HALF THE COST OF NEW TIRES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND HONDA WON'T DO ANYTHING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL SERVICE GARAGE AFTER HONDA CLAIMED IT WAS NOW AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. LOCAL SERVICE GARAGE TOLD ME ALIGNMENT WAS ALL WITHIN SPECS. I'VE FOUND THROUGH RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND DISCUSSIONS WITH OTHER OWNERS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING NORTH THROUGH INTERSECTION ABOUT 35-40 MPH IN KINSTON NC YESTERDAY CLOUDY BUT DRY DAY. AN AUTOMOBILE WAS DIRECTLY IN PATH HEADING WEST. I SLAMMED ON BREAKS BUT STILL COLLIDED WITH THE SIDE OF A SMALL MINATA. POINT OF IMPACT WAS DEAD FRONT MIDDLE. I RECALLED THINKING TO MYSELF THAT IT WAS NOT THAT BAD OF AN IMPACT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. RIGHT AT THIS POINT I WAS COASTING TO A STOP WHEN THE AIRBAG DID DEPLOYED. A LOT OF GOOD THAT DID! I AM CONCERNED FOR OTHERS SAFETY THAT THE AIRBAG ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC DID NOT DEPLOY AND HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC NEW. AT 18 MONTHS IT STARTED MAKING A ROARING NOISE FROM THE REAR END. IT ALSO STARTED VIBRATING BADLY AT 65MPH. WHEN I GOT THE OIL CHANGED IN IT, I ASKED THE HONDA MOTORWERKS DEALER IN LA CROSSE, WI TO CHECK THE TIRES FOR ROTATION. I WAS TOLD THE TIRES WERE FINE. TWO MONTHS LATER AT 37,800 MILES I AM TAKING THE CAR BACK FOR LOUDER ROARING AND MORE VIBRATION. MY SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALED THAT HONDA ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON 8FEB08 STATING THAT THE REAR CONTROL ON ALL 2006 AND 2007 HONDA CIVICS WERE EFFECTED AND NEED TO BE REPAIRED. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND WAS TOLD THAT EACH CASE WOULD BE HANDLED BY THE DEALER ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. I ASKED ABOUT THE TIRES THAT WERE RUINED BY THE DEFECTIVE CONTROL ARMS, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I THEY WERE COVERED UNDER THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. I SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE, RATHER THEY WERE PREMATURELY WORN BECAUSE OF A HONDA DEFECT. SHE GAVE ME THE SAME ANSWER AGAIN. IF THIS DEFECT APPLIES TO ALL 2006 AND 2007N CIVICS, THEN IT APPLIES TO SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND VEHICLES. I FEEL HONDA SHOULD RECALL ALL OF THE CIVICS AND NOT WAIT UNTIL THE OWNERS COMPLAIN OR GET HURT BECAUSE THE TIRES WEAR OUT EARLY AND CAUSE A CRASH. *TR

REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS WITH MY '06 CIVIC LX LED TO PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. HAVE AN ALIGNMENT POLICY WITH A LOCAL TIRE STORE & HAVE IT DONE ON A REGULAR BASIS. EVEN THEY COMMENTED ON THE WEAR AND SAID MUST BE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH REAR SUSPENSION. HONDA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 DATED 2/8/08 ON THIS MATTER. JUST WANT THIS PROCEDURE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO MY NEW TIRES DON'T SUFFER THE SAME FATE AS THE OEM TIRES. *TR
THE SUN VISORS IN MY CIVIC HAVE A HONDA-ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECT WHERE AFTER SOME TIME THE MECHANISM BREAKS, CAUSING IT TO STAY DOWN, BLOCKING THE DRIVER VIEW AND CREATING AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS COMMON IN WARMER CLIMATES AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT LEAST TWICE, WITH ANOTHER REPAIR ON THE HORIZON (THE PROBLEM STARTS WITH A POPPING NOISE WHEN PUTTING BACK TOWARDS THE ROOF). THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THEM FOR FREE THE FIRST FEW TIMES, BUT THE NEXT ONE WILL APPARENTLY COST $20 FOR THE LABOR WHILE THE VISORS THEMSELVES ARE "FREE." THE DEALER STATES THEY WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO REPAIR THIS DESIGN FLAW UNTIL 75,000 MILES ARE REACHED ON THE CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT SPENT THREE HOURS AT THE DEALER BEFORE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR HIS VEHICLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V034000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,193.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A TURN, THE WHEELS FEEL AS IF THEY WILL DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BOUNCES AND SHAKES AND THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS INACCURATE READINGS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL DISPLAY 50 MPH AND VICE VERSA. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CHECK THE GAS COVER. ON ONE OF THE FOUR OCCASIONS THAT SHE WENT TO THE DEALER, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERNAL. REPAIRS WERE MADE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES. SHE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH HER CHILDREN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE ROAD SURFACE WAS COVERED WITH BLACK ICE AND SNOW. THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLY WANDERED ACROSS THE ROAD. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE REAR AXLE LINKAGE ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE SUNVISOR ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC FLOPPED DOWN IN MY FACE UNEXPECTEDLY BLOCKING MY VIEW WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS SUNVISOR HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT HONDA STILL HAS NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I GUESS IT WILL TAKE PEOPLE HAVING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBILITY BEING KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE HONDA WILL ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 45-50 MPH, THE FRONT MIDDLE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, BUT SUSTAINED PAINS IN HIS RIGHT ARM. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT BUMPER FELL OFF AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 25,000.
THE CURRENT MODEL (2006-PRESENT) HONDA CIVIC HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. ALL MODELS ARE EQUIPPED WITH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, AS WELL AS A DASHBOARD THAT IS ALWAYS ILLUMINATED. THESE TWO FEATURES COMBINED AT NIGHT FOOL DRIVERS INTO THINKING THAT THEIR EXTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON, WHEN IN FACT ONLY THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, AND AT REDUCED POWER. I HAVE NEARLY HIT ONE OF THESE CARS BECAUSE IT WAS DARK AND THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ITS LIGHTS ON. NHTSA SHOULD REQUIRE HONDA TO MODIFY ALL CARS TO EITHER GET RID OF THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS OR INSTALL AN AUTOMATIC LIGHT SENSOR TO TURN ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON AT DUSK. *CN
REAR CAMBER COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED TO ZERO. TIRES WERE WEARING OUT EARLY ON INSIDE EDGE. AFTER MARKET PART ALLOWS CAMBER TO BE ADJUSTED TO ZERO. FIRESTONE DEALER SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH CIVICS AND THE AFTER MARKET PART IS AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MODEL YEARS. SIMILAR STATEMENT WAS MADE BY PREVIOUS TIRE DEALER IN 2006 (30K MILES) BUT UNABLE TO ORDER PARTS AT THAT TIME. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN AT THE END OF DEC .2007 BECAUSE IT WAS REVVING HIGH. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN ON 01/27/08 AND I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED DEALER MORNING OF 01/28. I CURRENTLY HAVE A RENTAL. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING VERY HIGH WHEN STOPPED . I THOUGHT PUTTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL WOULD HELP,BUT IT ONLY MADE IT REV EVEN HIGHER TO EVEN AS HIGH AS SIX. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS. IT JUST DOES NOT SEEM SAFE. I REALLY FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO HOLD MY FOOT DOWN ON THE BRAKE HARD TO KEEP THE CAR FROM CHARGING FORWARD. *CN
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX'S SUN VISOR BROKE... ON BOTH VISORS. THE COMPONENTS INSIDE THE VISOR SEEMED LIKE IT GOT MELTED AND THE VISOR KEEPS FALLING DOWN (WOULDN'T HOLD UP). IT GOT TO A POINT WHERE IT WOULD JUST DROP AND HINDER MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS. HONDA REPLACED IT SINCE I WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BACK THEN. SAME PROBLEM WITH A FRIEND'S 2006 HONDA CIVIC AND SHE HAD HER'S REPLACED 3 TIMES. THIS IS TOO MUCH FRUSTRATION. HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE SUN VISOR AND REPLACED WITH BETTER QUALITY. RIGHT NOW (2009), I'M AFRAID TO USE MY CIVIC'S SUN VISOR COZ I CAN SEE/FEEL THE SUN VISOR BEGINNING TO BREAK DOWN AGAIN (THE PLASTIC VISOR IS BEGGING TO OPEN UP AT THE SIDE EVERYTIME I MOVE IT UP/DOWN). AND I'M OUTSIDE MY WARRANTY ALREADY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON HONDA CIVIC AND THERE IS NO NEWS OF WHAT HONDA IS DOING ABOUT IT. THESE SUN VISORS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED!!!!! *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE REAR STRUTS PUNCTURED THE REAR TIRES, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO "RIDE LIKE AN OLDER VEHICLE". THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR STRUTS AND REAR TIRES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. HE ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V399000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR), WHICH HE BELIEVED WAS RELATED TO ANOTHER ISSUE THAT REQUIRED HIM TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
REAR CAMBER SET WRONG, NO ADJUSTMENT, PREMATURE TIRE WEAR, BAD CAR HANDLING. ESPECIALLY ON IRREGULAR ROAD SERVICE OR MAN HOLE COVERS ,CAR SIDE JUMPS . HONDA DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE EXPENSE TO REPAIR. *TR
BOTH DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS BROKE BEFORE 30K MILES, AND DEALERSHIP REPLACED. VISORS HAVE AGAIN BROKEN, BUT CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE. MANY OWNERS OF SAME MAKE/MODEL CAR HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME DEFECT. I THINK A RECALL IS APPROPRIATE. *TR

THE PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL COVER FELL OFF CAUSING A SKI AND DAMAGED TO THE UNDERCARRAIGED AS WELL AS THE FRONT BUMPER. *TR

BOTH SUN VISORS (DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE) SPLIT OPEN AFTER APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES. THE PLASTIC CASING HOLDING THE VISOR TOGETHER SPLIT AT THE SEEM ON BOTH VISORS. AS A RESULT, THEY ARE COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THEY CANNOT FOLD UP. THEY FALL AND PARTIALLY OBSTRUCT THE VIEW THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION. EVEN THE REPLACEMENT VISORS ARE OF THE SAME CONSTRUCTION, AND THEREFORE OFFER LITTLE REMEDY SINCE THEY TOO WILL INEVITABLY SPLIT OPEN. *TR
THE REAR TIRES ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX ARE RAPIDLY CUP, WORN AND UNEVEN, AND MAKING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE. THE REAR SUSPENSION CANNOT BE ALIGNED BY THE DEALER BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURE REAR SUSPENSION DESIGN DEFECT. I NOTICE THE NOISE AROUND 3,000 MILES. *TR
A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS PURSUED AND SETTLED WITH HONDA CORPORATION IN DECEMBER 2013 RELATED TO UNEVEN/EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON 2006 HONDA CIVICS. IT WAS RELATED TO FAULTY CONTROL ARMS. I MISSED THE DEADLINE TO FILE A CLAIM (JANUARY 16, 2014), BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO CORRECT. MY CIVIC HAS HAD 3 SETS OF TIRES SINCE I PURCHASED IT USED IN 2006. 2 TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 32,261 MILES, THEN 2 MORE AT 39,399MILES. AFTER THAT 4 TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 55,750 MILES, AND THEN 4 MORE AT 72,450 MILES. RAPID WEAR OCCURRED BETWEEN 39,399 - 55,750 MILES, AND 55,750 - 72,450 MILES. I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM AT NO COST AND PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT FOR TIRES THAT HAVE WORN TOO RAPIDLY. *TR
I WAS THE DRIVER OF A 2006 HONDA CIVIC AND WAS STRUCK IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND RECEIVED A HEAD INJURY REQUIRING SIX STAPLES. NO AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING INTO THIRD GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THIRD GEAR SYNCROSE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED TO PAY A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COSTS ALONG WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,413.
2006 HONDA CIVIC EX FACTORY/HONDA DEALER INSTALLED FOG LIGHTS FOG LIGHTS LENS BREAKAGE (3 OCCURRENCES SINCE AUGUST 2006 WHEN CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM HONDA NEW) THE LENS FOR THE FOG LIGHTS IS MADE OF NON TEMPERED GLASS WITH NO PROTECTIVE COVERING. THE GLASS BREAKS FROM ROAD DEBRIS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE FACTORY INSTALLED FOG LIGHTS HAVE BROKEN 3 TIMES FROM IMPACTS OF ROAD DEBRIS. THE GLASS WAS NOT MADE TO WITHSTAND ROAD DEBRIS ON PAVED ROADS. WE DO NOT DRIVE ON GRAVEL ROADS! *TR
THE THIRD GEAR IN THE 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION DOES NOT FULLY ENGAGE UNDER HIGHER RPMS CAUSING GRINDING AND A MIS-SHIFT. CAUSES MAJOR WEAR ON THE GEARS AND SYNCHROS. DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND IS CLAIMING IT IS THE DRIVERS FAULT. *TR
THE SUN VISOR IS SPLIT AND WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION AND HANGS DOWN AND CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED. IT BLOCKS VISION FOR SAFE DRIVING AND HAS TO BE MOVED TO THE SIDE WHICH BLOCKS PERIPHERAL VISION. IT ALSO CAN'T BE USED TO BLOCK THE SUN COMING IN THE WINDOW AT CERTAIN ANGELS. IT HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR AWHILE BUT IT IS NOT EASY TO GET IN TO THE DEALER WITH MY WORK SCHEDULE. I AM WITHIN THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY BUT OVER THE 36K MILES BECAUSE I DRIVE QUITE A DISTANCE EACH DAY. MY CONCERN IS PAYING TO REPLACE THE SUN VISOR AND THE MANY REPORTS I HAVE READ THAT PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MANY TIMES SINCE THE DESIGN/MATERIALS ARE FLAWED. THIS IS AN UNSAFE FEATURE OF THE CAR AND I HOPE THAT HONDA WOULD RECALL THEM. *TR
HONDA CIVICS 2006, 2007 HAVE FAULTY REAR CONTROL ARMS THAT RUIN TIRES AND CAUSE UNSAFE CONTROL OF THE CAR. CUSTOMER SERVICE ISN'T. I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. I AM TRYING TO GET BAD TIRES REPLACED THAT HONDA'S FAULTY REAR CONTROL ARMS RUINED. MY LOCAL DEALER REPLACED THE CONTROL ARMS. HONDA NEVER SENT A RECALL. HONDA REPS HAVE BLAMED ME FOR NOT ROTATING THE TIRES EVERY 5000 MILES PERFECTLY. THE TREAD ISN'T GONE. THE TIRES ARE WARPED FROM MISALIGNMENT - NOT A ROTATION ISSUE. IN FACT, IF I HAD NEVER ROTATED THE TIRES, AT LEAST THE FRONT ONES WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN RUINED. AT THIS POINT, I FEEL RIPPED OFF AND LIED TO. TIRES WITH ABOUT 18000 SHOULDN'T BE UNSAFE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. MY FIRST COMPLAINTS WERE AT ABOUT 16000 MILES WHEN I MY CAR WAS THE WORST CAR ON THE ROAD IN SNOW AT 5 MPH. (I PUT SNOW TIRES ON FROM THEN TO APRIL, BUT I NEVER HAD TO DO THAT BEFORE WITH NORMAL WEAR ALL SEASON RADIALS.) HONDA AMERICA HAS BEEN TALKING IN CIRCLES AND MAKING ME WAIT FOR ANOTHER DECISION. (1) THE EVENT LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE WOULD BE WHILE SPEEDING UP AND SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR AND 3RD GEAR SOMETIMES THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE, AND SOME OTHER TIMES IT POPS OUT OF GEAR TOTALLY. (2) THE FAILURE THAT IS OCCURRING IS THAT SOMETIMES IT POPS OUT OF GEAR AND THEN THERE IS ALSO A GRINDING NOISE. THE CONSEQUENCES THAT COME WITH THIS IS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IF YOU SPEED UP AND YOUR CAR POPS OUT OF GEAR IT COULD CAUSE YOU TO CRASH. ALSO IT IS CAUSING INTERNAL PROBLEMS WITHIN THE CAR. 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX, 38000 MILES. THE 2006 CIVIC HAS PROBLEMS WITH STRUTS. IT CAUSES UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND AN UNSTABLE REAR END. THE CUPPING WEAR IN THE INSIDE OF THE REAR TIRES MAGNIFIES THIS SUSPENSION DEFECT. WE WORE OUT TWO SETS OF TIRES BY 38,000 MILES. THE REAR END IS LOOSE. THE TIRE WEAR IS NOT VISIBLE UNLESS YOU LOOK CAREFULLY ON THE INSIDE OF THE REAR TIRE TREAD. THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE CAR FLIPPED AND ROLLED. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL AFTER A CORNER ON WET PAVEMENT. WITH THE DEFECTS IN THIS MODEL, THE DRIVER NEVER STOOD A CHANCE IN MAINTAINING CONTROL IN A SITUATION THAT DRIVERS REGULARLY FACE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN DECEMBER OF 2007 FOR THE INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST CABLE, WHICH STATED THAT IT COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE. HE CALLED THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONSEQUENCE OF THIS DEFECT IS THAT THE BATTERY MAY EXPLODE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.

THE OLD FILTER WAS PLACED BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE POSSIBLY DERIVED FROM A DEFECTIVE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH THAT SENDS SIGNALS TO THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER REGULATING THE ENGINE SPEED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD HAVE TO BE DUPLICATED BEFORE THEY COULD OFFER A SOLUTION. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,880 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,914.

MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC SI HAS PROBLEMS WITH GEARS ONE (1) THROUGH FOUR (4). THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE LACK OF SMOOTH SHIFTING AND ERRATIC GRINDING RESULTING FROM SHIFTING THROUGH THOSE GEARS. GRINDING OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP AND THE CLUTCH IS SHIFTED FROM NEUTRAL TO FIRST (1). GRINDING ALSO OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND SHIFTED FROM FIRST (1) TO SECOND (2), SECOND (2) TO THIRD (3), AND THIRD (3) TO FOURTH (4). THE GRINDING IS MOST PREVALENT IN THE SECOND (2) AND THIRD (3) GEARS, WITH FIRST (1) AND FOURTH (4) BEING MORE MINIMAL. IT MENTIONED THAT 2006-2011 HONDA CIVICS HAVING ISSUES WITH CRACKING AND/OR CHALKING ON THE HOOD, ROOF, TRUNK OR FRONT FENDERS FOR CERTAIN COLORS. THE FIX WAS THAT THE DEALER WILL REPAINT THE AFFECTED AREAS AT NO CHARGE. IN THE ARTICLE, IT GAVE DIFFERENT WEBSITES TO CHECK OUT OTHER COMPLAINTS, FIND OUT ABOUT ANY RECALLS. NOW I FIND OUT THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING WITH THE PAINT COMING OFF ALL OVER THE CAR. HONDA CIVIC HYBRID 2006 PROBLEM WITH RANDOM SURGING: I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 50 EASTBOUND TO SACRAMENTO, WHEN TRAFFIC CAME TO A STANDSTILL, THEN STARTED TO MOVE AGAIN SLOWLY. THE SUSPENSION ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC CANNOT BE ALIGNED DUE TO INCORRECT MANUFACTURING. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT EFFECTS ALL 2006 HONDA CIVICS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY WITH EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR BUT THE HANDLING OF THE CAR IS NOT AS IT SHOULD BE. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I TRIED EVASIVE ACTION WHILE THE SUSPENSION IS NOT ALIGNED CORRECTLY. REAR INSIDE TIRE WEAR. PUT AN AFTERMARKET KIT IN AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX AND TOOK DELIVERY IN JULY 2006. FROM THE TIME OF DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS NOTICEABLE THAT THE REAR END OR REAR TIRES OF THE HONDA CIVIC WERE VERY NOISY. I ROTATED MY TIRES AT EACH FACTORY RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGE. AT 30K MILES, THEY WERE WORN OUT. MY SERVICE PERSON SHOWED ME THE UNEVEN WEAR (FLAT SPOTS). THE ROAD NOISE IS UNBEARABLE. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM ACURA - A DIVISION OF HONDA. THE SERVICE BULLETIN 05-076 DATED JANUARY 19, 2007 STATED THAT THE ACURA 2004 & 2005 HAD AN ISSUE WITH "PREMATURE REAR TIRE WEAR". THE PROBLEM WAS DESCRIBED AS: "THE REAR TIRES ARE WEARING PREMATURELY (UNEVENLY ACROSS THE TREAD). PROBABLE CAUSE: THE REAR TOE INCREASES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LOADED" THE DESCRIPTION AND PICTURES OF TIRE WEAR IN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN EXACTLY MATCH WHAT I FOUND IN MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC. I FREQUENTLY CHECK THE AIR TIRE PRESSURE TO ENSURE EVEN WEAR. THERE ARE MULTIPLE INTERNET POSTINGS NOTING AN ISSUE WITH THE CAMBER/TOE ADJUSTMENTS. I BELIEVE SUCH PREMATURE WEAR CONSTITUTES A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD. HONDA SHOULD DO THE "RIGHT THING" AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
