THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 26,368. WE WENT ON A TRIP WITH THE CAR AND ON THE WAY WE NOTICED IT WAS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE SO WE TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP ON 5/26/7. THEY REPLACED THE SMALL ENGINE BLOCK AND TOLD US THAT IT WAS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. WE RECEIVED THE CAR BACK ON 6/11/7. THEN ON 7/2/7 WE WENT TO VISIT A RELATIVE ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY AND THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN YOU TURNED AND THE CAR KEPT TRYING TO STALL. MILEAGE AT TIME 27,785. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE SERPENTINE BELT, REPLACED THE WATER PUMP PULLEY AND REMOVED BROKEN PORTION OF THE TENSIONER BOLT FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK AND RETAPPED HOLE. WE RECEIVED THE CAR BACK ON 7/9/7. ON 1/5/8 THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND ONCE AGAIN WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, MILEAGE AT TIME 38,897. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE TENSIONER BOLT BROKE AND THEN IT MADE THE TENSIONER HIT THE WATER PUMP PULLEY AND GRINDED BOTH OF THEM TO EACH OTHER. THEY REPLACED THE BELT TENSIONER/PULLEY. *TR
THE RECENT RECALL OF HONDA ODYSSEY AND ELEMENT MODELS MADE ME REMEMBER TWO THINGS ABOUT THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC THAT I OWNED. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME BRAKING ISSUE ON IT- I WOULD HAVE TO HOLD THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN PRETTY FORCEFULLY IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE IT WOULDN'T CREEP FORWARD WHILE STOPPED. IT WAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, AND IF STOPPED ON AN INCLINE ON A HILL (AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN), WHEN THE BRAKES WERE RELEASED THE CAR WOULD MOVE BACKWARD SIGNIFICANTLY. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ON A STEEP HILL- I HAVE DRIVEN SEVERAL OTHER CARS ON THIS SAME HILL AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. IT WAS SO SIGNIFICANT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PREPARE MYSELF TO ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY AND WITH RELATIVE FORCE TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS. *TR
I TOOK THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE BACK TIRES WERE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY ON THE INSIDE. THEY REPLACED THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS WITH THE "SUPPOSEDLY" CORRECT CONTROL ARMS MARKED C AND DID AN ALIGNMENT, BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM! I JUST BOUGHT A FULL SET OF NEW TIRES IN JULY OF 2010 AND MY CAR WAS ALIGNED AND I AM ABOUT TO NEED NEW TIRES AGAIN! IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S VISOR FELL OFF AND WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, BOTH VISORS FELL OFF THE SECOND TIME, AND ARE NOW HELD ON WITH ZIP TIES. THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VISOR AS WELL.
WE TOOK OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC IN FOR SERVICE AND WE WERE TOLD THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE ROTATED. WHEN WE LEFT AND GOT TO HIGHWAY SPEED THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. WE KEPT THE SPEED DOWN AND MADE IT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALER. WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL AND IT WOULD CORRECT ITSELF IN ABOUT 500 OR 600 MILES. WE LEFT THERE AND WENT TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE THEY TOOK OFF THE FRONT TIRES (THAT WERE ROTATED FROM THE BACK) AND NOTICED THEY BOTH HAD FLAT SPOTS ON THEM THAT WERE WORN DOWN TO THE CORDS. WE ROTATED THE TIRES BACK TO GET US BY. THE NEXT DAY WE REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. THE NEW TIRES WERE FINE BUT WHEN WE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED WE NOTICED THE FLAT SPOTS HAD COME BACK WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. WE TOOK OUR HONDA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED ABOUT THE TIRES AND IF THEY COULD LOOK AT IT, THE DEALER TOLD US ABOUT SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001. SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 IS TO CORRECT THE TIRE WEAR ISSUE BY REPLACING THE UPPER CONTROLLER ARMS ON THE REAR SUSPENSION. WE LEFT THE CAR, AND SOON GOT A CALL FROM THE DEALER TELLING US THEY COULD NOT PERFORM THE SERVICE BECAUSE OUR CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY (EVEN THOUGH IT WILL WEAR THE TIRES OUT). FORTUNATELY THERE WAS A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE THERE THAT DAY THAT APPROVED THE REPAIR. WE STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE ALIGNMENT, EVEN THOUGH IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN THAT THE ALIGNMENT IS INCLUDED AND EVEN THOUGH WE BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. WE ALSO GOT NO COMPENSATION FOR TIRES EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A TABLE FOR PRORATING THE TIRES IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BACK TIRES AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE FLAT SPOTS. THESE WERE NOT DOWN TO THE CORDS, BUT THERE WAS NO TREAD LEFT ON THE FLAT SPOTS. I DON'T WANT MY WIFE AND YOUNG DAUGHTER TO BE STRANDED ON THE ROAD OR WORSE BECAUSE OF AN ENGINEERING FLAW BY HONDA. *TR
I BOUGHT A NEW HONDA CIVIC, 2006 AND WITHIN ONE YEAR ALL FOUR TIRES HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR. I HAD THEM REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE TIRES WERE IN TERRIBLE SHAPE BY THAT TIME AND THE MILEAGE WASN'T OVER 15K. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THESE VEHICLES - REAR CAMBER SETTINGS. THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS. HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLE? THERE SHOULD BE. I LIVE IN THE NE WHERE THERE ARE MANY WEATHER SITUATIONS AND THE TIRES ARE OF GREAT SAFETY IMPORTANCE. I NOW HAVE A BABY IN THE CAR ALSO. *TR
CAR STARTED HAVING EXCESSIVE TIRE NOISE IN THE REAR. THEN EXCESSIVE WEAR ON INSIDE OF TIRES. TOOK CAR INTO DEALER AND THEY SAID AGREED IT WAS A PROBLEM BUT COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. HAD TO CONTACT THE TIRE COMPANY. TRIED TO DO THIS BUT NOT SUCCESSFUL. REPLACE REAR TIRES AT AROUND 29,000 MILES. NOW AT 45,000 MILES THE 2ND SET OF TIRES ARE MAKING THE SAME NOISE AND HAVE SAME WEAR PROBLEM. FOUND OUT ON A BLOG SITE THAT HONDA HAS A TSB OUT NOW TO REPLACE UPPER CONTROL ARMS THAT ARE DEFECTIVE ON ALL 2006 AND 2007 CIVICS EXCEPT SI MODEL. NOW TRYING TO WORK WITH DEALER TO REPLACE THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS WITH NEW CHANGED DESIGN. APPARENTLY HONDA NOW ADMITS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ORIGINAL CONTROL ARMS. WE WILL SEE HOW COOPERATIVE THE DEALER IS WITH REPLACING THEM. I HAVE THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN COPY AND WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. BLOG SAYS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE TIRES - EVEN THOUGH ALL THE EXCESSIVE WEAR AND NOISE IS CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. AM STILL CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE WITH CONSTANT EXCESSIVE WEAR TO TIRES. DO NOT KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHER PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE CAUSE BY THIS. *TR
8TH GENERATION CIVICS EXPOSED TO HOT WEATHER MAY EXPERIENCE FAILURE TO THEIR VISORS. THIS CAUSES THE LOSS OF INTEGRITY IN COMPONENTS OF THE VISORS, PREVENTING THEM FROM STAYING UP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VISOR IS EITHER IN THE WAY OF THE DRIVER OR WON'T STAY IN A FIXED POSITION WHEN PUSHED TO THE SIDE. *TR
PREMATURE DISC BRAKE PAD WEAR ON 2006 HONDA CIVIC AT 12,525 MILES. DEALER SAYS WORN TO METAL. CLAIMS NORMAL WEAR IS 10,000-18,000 MILES. THIS IS UNHEARD OF! SUSPECT SUB-STANDARD PADS INSTALLED DURING MANUFACTURING AND AN INCREASING LACK OF OVERALL QUALITY CONTROLS AT HONDA. *TR
LOWER WATER-PUMP-BELT-TENSIONER BOLT BROKE OFF IN BLOCK. STOPPING CAR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC CAUSING A REAR-END ACCIDENT. *JB
2006 HONDA CIVIC AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT HAD 36,929 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. DEALERSHIP FOUND WATER PUMP BROKE,CAUSING THE SERPENTINE BELT TO SNAP AND THE TENSION ROD TO BREAK. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF PROBLEMS BEFORE THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN. VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE. HONDA DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE WATER PUMP, SERPENTINE BELT AND TENSION ROD. DEALERSHIP FELT WATER PUMP SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN AT THIS MILEAGE. I WAS ADVISED LATER BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP THAT HONDA HAD CASTING PROBLEM WITH ENGINE BLOCK. SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE BOSS, ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE HONDA WAS THE SAME YEAR AND APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MILEAGE. *AK
I BOUGHT A NEW HONDA CIVIC, 2006, AND WITHIN ONE YEAR, ALL FOUR TIRES HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID IT "HAPPENS". I HAD ABOUT 12K MILES ON THOSE TIRES. NOW, AGAIN AFTER ONE YEAR, I HAVE TO REPLACE MY REAR TIRES DUE TO UNUSUAL WEAR. I HAVE READ THAT IT IS A DESIGN FAULT OF THE CAR.- UPPER CONTROL ARMS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR TO SAVE MONEY, NOT TO HAVE TO BUY TIRES ANNUALLY AND HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. MY SISTER BOUGHT THE SAME CAR AT THE SAME TIME I DID AND HER TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONE YEAR ALSO. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC WHICH I HAD PURCHASE IN OCTOBER 20 06, WHICH I' HAD ONLY FOR 8 MONTHS. I GET IN MY VEHICLE TO TURN THE AIR CONDITION ON, AND ON JUNE 6, 2008 AND FOUND OUT THAT IT ONLY BLEW OUT HOT AIR. I AM VERY UPSET KNOWING THAT A VEHICLE WHICH WAS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD AND BECAUSE OF SOME SO CALL PEBBLE THAT GET UP IN THE CONDENSER WHICH MADE IT UNABLE TO FUNCTION AND ON TOP OF THAT FOR HONDA TO BE NUMBER ONE FOR GOOD VALUE WITH THERE CARS. WEREN'T HIS WAS AN ON GOING OCCURING PROBLEM WITH THESE CIVIC WHY AREN' THEY CONSIDERED AS A RECALL, BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPL HAD THIIS PROBLEM AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF THERE POCKET WHICHWAS NOT THEIR FAULT. *AK
WITHIN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE NOTICED A LEAK ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE ENGINE WHILE CHANGING OIL IN MY WIFE'S 2006 CIVIC. FIRST TIME, THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A LEAKY OIL PAN GASKET BOLT WHICH THEY TIGHTENED. THIS TIME I AM TOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS LEAKING AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS 18 MONTHS OLD WITH 51,000 MILES ON IT. THE HONDA DEALER IS CURRENTLY REPAIRING THE CAR FOR $470 BY REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A YEAR THIS OLD! *TR
THE CAR HAD EXCESSIVE ROAD NOISE AFTER 8,000 MILES. CHECKING THE REAR TIRES I FOUND THAT BOTH HA NUMEROUS FLAT SPOTS. TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER AND GOT THE SAME RESPONSE THAT OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. I WAS ASKED IF I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHILE DRIVING. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A TIRE ISSUE AND TO TALK TO A BRIDGESTONE DEALER. THE TIRE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TIRES THAT COME ON THE CAR AREN'T THE BEST QUALITY AND I SHOULD REPLACE THEM WITH A BETTER PAIR. THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THEY SAID IT DUE TO LACK OF TIRE ROTATION. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH TIRES WEARING LIKE THIS EVEN AFTER NOT ROTATING TIRES ON OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES WITH NEW MICHELINS AT MY EXPENSE. I WILL HAVE THEM ROTATED AT EACH OIL CHANGE. I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT HONDA AND IT'S TIRE SUPPLIERS WOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THIS IS MY 5TH HONDA SINCE 1990 AND WILL BE MY LAST AND THE LAST TIME I BUY BRIDGESTONES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE GREW LOUDER AS TIME PROGRESSED. WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHANGED, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE SHOCKS WERE THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMMON. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE VISOR WAS FRACTURED AND OBSTRUCTING HIS VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM THE CURB IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. AFTER MOVING ABOUT 1.5 FEET, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BREAKING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER, THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE SEQUENCE REPEATED ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS WITH THE DEPLOYMENT OF BOTH SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS. FINALLY, AFTER ABOUT A 2 MINUTE PAUSE, THE AIRBAG CONTAINED IN THE REAR OF THE PASSENGER SEAT DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAG CONTAINED WITHIN THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I OWNED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WHERE THE AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) CONDENSER WAS LOCATED. IT SEEMED THAT MANY PEOPLE WERE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. THE A/C IN THE CAR WAS NOT WORKING, BROUGHT TO HONDA, THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER FROM ROAD DEBRIS. THIS WAS A DESIGN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. THEREWAS NO PROTECTION ON THE GRILLE. THE GRILLE WAS WIDE OPEN.*AK
2006 HONDA CIVIC EX, SUN VISORS ON BOTH DRIVE AND PASSENGER SIDES FAILED AND COULD NOT BE RETRACTED, BLOCKING VIEW. 1ST SET FAILED 6MO FROM PURCHASE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY FAILED AGAIN BUT NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN INTERIOR OF CAR IS HOT PLASTIC ON VISORS SPLITS AND LOSES "DETENT" CAN NOT BE PUT BACK OUT OF VIEW. DEALER KNOWS OF PROBLEMS. SEVERAL OWNERS BLOGS SHOW MANY SUCH COMPLAINTS. SUN VISORS ARE UNUSABLE. *TR
I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX COUPE AND I HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I FEEL SOME VIBRATIONS AND EXCESSIVE SWAY WHEN TURNING. AT ONE YEAR OLD MY REAR LEFT SHOCK ABSORBER LEAKED, HONDA REPLACED IT BUT AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR IT STARTED TO FAIL AGAIN. HONDA REPLACED IT AGAIN OUT OF COURTESY (THEY SAID).LAST YEAR I NOTICED IT HAS A LEAK AGAIN BUT I DON'T WANT TO BRING IT IN FOR REPAIRS. I ALSO HAVE PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. I HEARD ABOUT A HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS SO I CALLED THE DEALER BUT THEY SAID THAT MY CAR WASN'T INCLUDE IN THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH THE SERVICE BULLETIN STATES ALL 2006 MODELS ARE AFFECTED. I BELIEVE THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY SHOCKS FAILING AND HONDA SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT CAUSE SOME ACCIDENTS. HOPE YOU GUYS COULD DIG IN DEEPER TO THIS PROBLEM AS HONDA SEEMS TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
TIRE FAILURE AROUND 27,000 MILES FROM EXCESSIVE WEAR ON REAR TIRES DESPITE REGULAR MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. POSSIBLY DUE TO REAR CONTROL ARM MALFUNCTION WHICH MANUFACTURER WILL NOT INSPECT. ALSO, MANUFACTURER HAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BOTH SUN VISORS DUE TO SPLITTING OF PLASTIC (MOST LIKELY DUE TO BAD ENGINEERING WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF INTERIOR HEAT). *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX. UNDER WARRANTY IN 2007 THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR BROKE WHEN I PUT IT DOWN. AT THIS POINT IT WOULD NOT STAY UP WHEN YOU PUSH IT UP, IT WOULD JUST HANG STRAIGHT DOWN AND BLOCK MY VISION TO MY RIGHT, NOT SAFE. THE DEALER REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE. IN 2008 THE SAME THING APPEND TO MY DRIVER SIDE. I HAD THE SAME RESULTS AS THE RIGHT SIDE VISOR. 2009 PASSENGER SIDE BROKE AGAIN IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. JUNE 2010 PASSENGER SIDE BROKE AGAIN BUT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WILL COST ME $60 TO FIX. THIS IS UNSAFE, OBSCURES MY VISION. JULY 6 2010 THE DRIVER SIDE BROKE AGAIN, THE WILL NOT FIX IT, IT WILL COST ME $60. THERE IS A DEFINITE PRODUCTION PROBLEM HERE AND HONDA NO'S IT. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX IN THE US AND BROUGHT IT TO KOREA WITH ME A FEW MONTHS AGO. I, HOWEVER, JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID HAS BEEN LEAKING AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHOULD BE REPLACED SOON CAUSE IT MIGHT LEADS TO AN ACCIDENT IF IT'S NOT FIXED. I AM PRETTY SURE THAT THIS PART MUST BE DEFECTED IN THE BEGINNING BUT THE PROBLEM FOR ME IS THAT THE HONDA WOULD NOT FIX IT WITH FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE I PURCHASED IT IN THE US AND IT'S IN KOREA NOW. THE 2006 CIVIC AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) STOPPED WORKINGAT ONLY 16,000 MILES. AFTER REVIEWING INTERNET FORUMS IT APPEARED THAT THIS WAS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW THAT THE A/C CONDENSER UNIT WAS NOT PROTECTED AND WAS VULNERABLE TO DAMAGE EASILY. I WASVERY UPSET THAT HONDA HAD NOT ACTED WITH GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES, AND WASTRYING TO AVOID THE MATTER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MY CARS INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK, ALL GAUGES WENT OUT. THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC PANEL. IN ADDITION, THE CARS ENGINE LOST ALL POWER. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING. IT IS A HYBRID AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS IN THE AUTO STOP MODE WHEN YOU ARE AT A LIGHT, THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING (AT LEAST YOU COULD NOT TELL IT WAS RUNNING). I TURNED THE CARS IGNITION OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED UP AGAIN AND THE GAUGES WERE WORKING AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE SYMPTOMS. THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER FOR ERROR CODES AND FOUND NONE. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IN THE PAST YOU DID A RECALL FOR THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID REGARDING A BATTERY CONNECTOR WHICH YOU STATE MAY CAUSE THE MOTOR TO FAIL AND CAUSE A CRASH. AT THE MOMENT I AM UPLOADING A VIDEO TO YOU TUBE UNDER USER 10P6 REGARDING A PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES NOT ONLY THE IMA MOTOR TO FAIL, BUT THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING, BRAKES, ABS STEERING, AND EVEN THE AIRBAGS. THE SUN VISORS ARE VERY STIFF AND THE EFFORT REQUIRED TO RAISE AND LOWER THEM FREQUENTLY RESULTS IN THE VISOR SPRINGING AWAY FROM THE RETAINING CLIP. THIS MOVEMENT COULD STARTLE UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS OR RESULT IN THE VISOR HITTING THE DRIVER'S HEAD. I HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VISORS HAD TO BE THAT STIFF OR THEY WOULD "FLOP" DOWN. THIS COMBINED WITH A FAIRLY LONG TRAVEL COULD REQUIRE SHORT DIVERS TO POSITION THEIR SEAT VERY CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO GET ENOUGH LEVERAGE IN THEIR LEG TO FULLY DEPRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL PRIOR TO STARING THE ENGINE. WITH APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES ON THE HONDA 2006 CIVIC, THE TIRE NOISE AND VIBRATION STARTED BECOMING NOTICEABLE. BY THE TIME THERE WAS 22,000 MILES IT WAS VERY IRRITATING. MADE DECISION TO REPLACE THE OEM TIRES, BUT FIRST I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN ALIGNMENT SHOP WHO REFUSED TO DO ANY ALIGNMENT WORK BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THE ALIGNMENT WAS WITHIN SPECIFICATION. CHANGE FROM THE OEM TIRES (BRIDGESTONE TURANZA ) TO MICHELINS. NOW WITH LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON THE MICHELINS ONCE AGAIN THE NOISE AND VIBRATION IS HORRIBLE DUE TO CUPPING ON THE REAR TIRES. I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE REAR TIRES ARE CUPPING (OTHERS CALL IT SEE-SAW PATTERN ). THERE IS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, DATED FEBRUARY, 2008 THAT EXACTLY DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD THREE SETS OF NEW TIRES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A TIRE PROBLEM AND I KEPT CHANGING THE TIRES, ONLY TO DISCOVER AFTER THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND I SPOKE TO MATT CALDARELLA FROM AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR WHO REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE, STATING THAT IT WAS MY FAULT THAT " I DID NOT GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIX THE CAR" . I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. I PURCHASED IT NEW AND HAVE BEEN SATISFIED WITH THE VEHICLE WITH ONE EXCEPTION. THE REAR TIRES WEAR UNEVENLY (FLAT SPOTS) CAUSING A ROARING SOUND THAT IS VERY ANNOYING. MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX HAD APPROXIMATELY 20000 MILES ON IT AS OF 3/20/07. I BOUGHT IT NEW OVER A YEAR AGO AT ABOUT 10000 MILES . I STARTED HEARING NOISES COMING FROM THE REAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER , WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE TWO REAR TIRES HAD FLAT SPOTS. THEY ASKED ME IF I HAD DRIVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. I DID NOT DRIVE IT WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME, AND ASKED ME TO CALL BRIDGESTONE TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER TIRE WARRANTY. BRIDGESTONE TOLD ME IT WAS A VEHICLE ISSUE, AND WOULD NOT HELP ME. I THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME HONDA DEALER 1000 MILES LATER AND PAID $45 FOR THEM TO TELL ME I NEEDED NEW REAR TIRES. THAT WAS DUMB ON MY PART CONSIDERING I KNEW THAT, BUT I WAS HOPING IT WOULD BE A WARRANTY ISSUE . I ASKED THEM WHAT I WOULD DO IF THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, HE SAID IT PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY WANTED $425 FOR TWO REAR TIRES PLUS AN ALIGNMENT. I SAID NO, AND TOOK IT TO SULLIVAN TIRE, WHO REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH SUPERIOR GOOD YEAR TIRES FOR UNDER $425. THE ONE THING WORTH NOTING, THEY SAID THE VEHICLE DID NOT NEED AN ALIGNMENT, AND THEREFORE DID NOT DO ONE NOR DID THEY CHARGE ME FOR ONE. I ASKED HOW THE REAR TIRES BECAME SO CHOPPY, AND THEY SAID MAYBE IT WASH SUSPENSION ISSUE OR DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON, BUT I WILL WAIT NOW TO SEE IF THE SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THE GOODYEAR TIRES. *AK

LACKING SUFFICIENT TIME, I DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE NOISE UNTIL OUR TRIP TO ARIZONA IN EARLY MARCH, 2007. WHEN WE ARRIVED IN ARIZONA, I GOT DOWN ON MY KNEES FOR THE FIRST TIME TO EXAMINE THE REAR TIRES. TO MY AMAZEMENT, THEY WERE WORN OUT AT 21,000 MILES - TO THE POINT WHERE STEEL BELTS WERE PROTRUDING FROM THE TIRES. I TOOK THE CAR TO A AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER IN TUCSON. AFTER EXTENSIVE TESTS, THEY CLAIMED THAT THE CAR HAD NO DEFECT - I HAD TWO DEFECTIVE REAR TIRES. I TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT BOTH REAR TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE WOULD WEAR SO BADLY, WHILE THE FRONT TIRES ON THE FRONT-WHEEL DRIVE CAR WERE IN EXCELLENT CONDITON FOR 21,000 MILES. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A SERVICE BULLETION FROM ACURA - A DIVISION OF HONDA. THE SERVICE BULLETIN 05-076 DATED JANUARY 19, 2007 STATED THAT THE ACURA 2004 & 2005 HAD AN ISSUE WITH "PREMATURE REAR TIRE WEAR". THE PROBLEM WAS DESCRIBED AS: "THE REAR TIRES ARE WEARING PREMATURELY (UNEVENLY ACROSS THE TREAD). PROBABLE CAUSE: THE REAR TOE INCREASES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LOADED" THE DESCRIPTION AND PICTURES OF TIRE WEAR IN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN EXACTLY MATCH WHAT I FOUND IN MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC. I HAD JUST CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE IN ALL FOUR TIRES. DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE HONDA CIVIC, THE REAR TIRES ARE DIFFICULT TO SEEN WITHOUT KNEELING. WHEN I FOUND THAT THE REAR TIRES HAD BEEN WORN SO SEVERELY THAT STEEL BELTS WERE SHOWING, IT WAS CLEAR TO ME THAT SUCH PREMATURE WEAR CONSTITUTES A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD.
I HAVE FELT FOR SOME TIME THAT AS I AM ROLLING TO A STOP AT 10-15MPH AND APPLY THE BRAKES THAT THERE IS AN INCREASE IN THE RPMS FROM 600 TO 1000 OR SLIGHTLY MORE. THE SUDDEN REVVING IS ENOUGH THAT I HAVE SENSED THAT THE CAR COULD ACTUALLY CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD WHEN I INTEND FOR IT TO STOP AND PERHAPS CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. RELATED TO THIS, I HAD ONE INSTANCE WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE THAT I HAD TO APPLY GREAT FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO AVOID RUNNING OVER A SPEED BUMP AT THE END OF THE SPACE. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2006 HONDA CIVIC IN JANUARY OF 2006 FROM A DEALERSHIP IN AUBURN, WA.. TWO WEEKS AGO I NOTICED THE A/C HAD STOPPED WORKING, SO I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND REPAIRED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 11,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE PROBLEM OCCURRED IN THE CONDENSER WHICH IS BETWEEN THE OPEN GRILL OF THE BUMPER AND THE RADIATOR. THE CONDENSER, MADE OF APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MATERIAL AS ALUMINUM FOIL AND ACTUALLY ALUMINUM, IS COMPLETELY UNPROTECTED. THE PROBLEM, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC IS WIDESPREAD AND ACROSS NEW HONDA MODELS. IF A SMALL PEBBLE OR ANY OTHER TINY HARD ELEMENT HAPPENS TO STRIKE THE COMPLETELY UNPROTECTED CONDENSER IT KNOCKS A NEARLY INVISIBLE (WE CAN'T SEE IT) HOLE IN IT, WHICH IN TURN KNOCKS OUT ALL A/C. I EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS A POOR DESIGN TO HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROTECTION FOR THIS PART. THE PERSON SAID, YES, THEY UNDERSTAND BUT CAN DO NOTHING TO HELP AND THAT THEY SEE THIS EVERY WEEK. I WAS TOLD TO CALL HONDAS CONSUMER COMPLAINT LINE, WHICH I DID, AND WAS TOLD THE SAME STORY AND THAT THEY ARE LOOKING INTO FIXING IT FOR FUTURE MODELS. THEY ALL TOLD ME TO CLAIM IT ON INSURANCE, THAT IT IS A ROAD HAZARD PROBLEM. OBVIOUSLY IT'S A DESIGN PROBLEM, AND HAD I KNOWN ABOUT IT I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED A TOYOTA. MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED. THE FRONT IMPACT ABSORBING REINFORCEMENT BAR HAD COLLAPSED. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 20-30 KILOMETERS PER HOUR IN SNOWY CONDITIONS. *JB
THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE 3RD GEAR CORRECTLY AND CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO GRIND AND POP INTO NEUTRAL WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE IN 3RD GEAR. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE A WRECK.
