I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC AND MICE KEPT COMING INTO THE VEHICLE VIA THE AIR DUCTS AND DEFICATING ALL OVER MY CAR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WASN OTHING THEY COULD DO. HANTA VIRUS HAS KILLED PEOPLE IN OUR AREA AND YOU CATCH THAT FROM COMING INTO CONTACT WITH MICE.. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS COMPLAIN OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND COME APART WITH THE SLIGHTEST PULL. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR FELL OFF. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE EQUIPMENT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS WERE FRACTURED AND OBSTRUCTING HER VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE SUN VISOR WAS HANGING DOWN AND SHE WOULD HAVE TO HOLD IT UP AND DRIVE AT THE SAME TIME. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 07/08/11 *BF THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE VISOR BY REPLACING IT SIX TO EIGHT TIMES, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED HONDA ISSUED A CONTINUATION OF THE VISOR WARRANTY UP TO 8 YEARS. UPDATED 08/04/11
I BOUGHT MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC AS A BRAND NEW CAR AND EARLY ON BEGAN HAVING EXTREMELY UNEVEN WEAR ON MY REAR TIRES. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP REPLACED SOMETHING WITH THE REAR CONTROL ARMS WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS, STATING THAT HONDA BELIEVED THIS WOULD CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE HAS CONTINUED OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, RESULTING IN UNEVEN TIRE WEAR (CUPPING OF THE TIRES) AND TIRES THAT HAVE TO BE REPLACED VERY FREQUENTLY. THE TIRES APPEAR TO LOOK FINE ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT ARE DANGEROUSLY WORN ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY, MANY OTHERS FROM 2006-2009 HONDA CIVICS SEEM TO BE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. *JS
THE RIM ON THE CAR BROKE TOO EASILY. I RAN OVER A POT HOLE ON THE FREEWAY AND IT CRACKED THE INSIDE OF THE RIM AND FLATTENED THE TIRE. THE CAR IS ONE MONTH OLD AND ONE RIM PLUS THE TIRE WILL COST $600. *NM
I STOPPED AT A CROSSWALK TO LET INDIVIDUALS CROSS AND WHILE I WAS STOPPED THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AND IT FELT LIKE I REALLY NEEDED TO PUSH DOWN HARD ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM GOING FORWARD.. A LITTLE SCARY. *NM
MY SON GOT OUT OF A FRIENDS CAR AND SLAMMED THE DOOR AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. IT'S A 2 DOOR 2006 HONDA CIVIC. HONDA SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND IT DOES NOT FALL UNDER WARRANTY. THE AIR BAGS AND HEADLINER ARE HAVING TO BE REPLACED ,BUT I FEEL THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. HONDA KEPT THE OLD PARTS. *NM
AFTER BACKING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED VERY RAPIDLY. I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. AFTER RESTARTING ,THE CAR RESPONDED NORMALLY WHEN IT WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. FORTUNATELY, MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE SO THERE WAS NO PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY. HOWEVER, THIS GREATLY CONCERNS ME. I NOTED YOUR WEBSITE HAS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY INDICATED THERE WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS OF THIS SORT. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WILL DO SO, BUT THE DEALER AND I BOTH AGREE IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE MY EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHER PERSONS WHO HAVE CONTACTED YOU, INDICATES THERE IS A STRONG LIKELIHOOD OF A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT COULD LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE AND SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2006 CIVIC EX IN DECEMBER OF 2005. WITHIN 3 MONTHS, THE RIGHT DRIVER SIDE A/C VENT STARTED TO RATTLE AS WELL AS AROUND BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT ADJUSTERS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE VENT BUT COULD NOT LOCATED THE NOISE BY THE SEAT BELT ADJUSTERS. AT THIS TIME, THEY ALSO FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID HAD BEEN LEAKING AND REPAIRED THIS WAS WELL. AT MY NEXT SCHEDULE OIL CHANGE, I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE A/C VENT RATTLING MORE THAN BEFORE THE AND THE RATTLING AROUND THE SEAT BELT HEIGHT ADJUSTERS HAD INCREASED. THEY INSTALLED A NEW A/C VENT FOR THE SECOND TIME. THEY ALSO WERE ABLE TO DETERMINE AFTER TAKING OFF THE PANEL WHERE THE SEAT BELT ADJUSTERS ARE LOCATED, THAT IT WAS POORLY INSULATED AND ADDED FELT TAPE. THE NEW A/C VENT IS MORE STURDY THAN THE ORIGINAL AND FIRST REPLACEMENT SO IT NO LONGER RATTLES. THE FELT TAPE INSULATION HAS ALSO STOPPED THE SEAT BELT ADJUSTER FROM RATTLING. HOWEVER IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE ADDITIONAL RATTLING WHICH I HAVE LOCATED TO INSIDE OF CEILING DIRECTLY BEHIND THE MOON ROOF. *JB
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC FISHTAILS TERRIBLY, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER BUT EVEN IN THE SUMMER ON DRY PAVEMENT WHEN I HIT EVEN LITTLE BUMPS THE CAR SHIFTS TO THE SIDE. IT FORCES ME TO SLOW DOWN BUT IT GETS WORSE BETWEEN 30-40 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE NOT CRASHED DUE TO THE PROBLEM (YET) BUT IN CERTAINLY CONCERNS ME AND MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE OUR CAR! *TR
2006 HONDA CIVIC HARBORS MICE IN AIR DUCTS/HEATER FAN/CABIN AIR FILTER ASSY. HONDA REFUSES TO PUT SCREEN ON INPUT TO OUTSIDE AIR INLET. MICE INFESTED CAR. I HAVE ALLERGYS THAT CAUSE ME TO SNEEZE AND HAVE ASTHMA ATTACKS. I BELIEVE THESE ATTACKS LEAD TO DANGERS WHILE DRIVING. HONDA SAYS 'MICE STUFF' IS HAZARDOUS MATERIAL BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. MY DEALER 'VACUUMED UP 'MICE STUFF'. HOWEVER ACCORDING TO GOVERNMENT GUIDLINES VACUUMING 'MICE STUFF' CAN CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD. SHOULD BE DISINFECTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS COLD. AS A RESULT, THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON TWO OCCASIONS, BUT WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. AS OF OCTOBER 2, 2007, THE FAILURE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. UPDATED 10/24/07. *JB
ON MY WAY TO WORK, AFTER NORMAL DRIVING FOR 2 MILES, THE VEHICLE LOST IT'S POWER STEERING. I WAS JUST ENTERING THE FREEWAY, SO I GOT OFF ON THE NEXT EXIT AND TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. ONE OF THE IDIOT LIGHTS ON THE PANEL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FLASH FOR A SPLIT SECOND BUT WOULD NOT REMAIN ON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY A MILE AWAY. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND WAITED FOR MY TURN. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON TO MOVE IT FORWARD AND VOILA, THE STEERING PROBLEM WAS GONE. I EXPLAINED TO THE TECH ALL THAT HAD TRANSPIRED. HE TURNED THE IGNITION AND POINTED TO AN IDIOT LIGHT AND ASKED ME IF THAT WAS THE ONE I HAD SEEN. I SAID YES BECAUSE IT LOOKED VERY MUCH LIKE IT. I LEFT THE CAR THERE FOR THEIR TESTING. THEY CALLED ME LATER THAT AFTERNOON AND SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND ALSO THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES THAT REGISTERED. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 19TH, 2007 I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK ALONE IN MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX ON A DIRT ROAD. I WAS NOT SPEEDING AND I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT. I CHOSE A DIFFERENT ROUTE FROM MY NORMAL ROUTE AND MISSED THE S CURVE IN THE ROAD. MY CAR WENT TO THE DITCH ROUGHLY 3 FEET DEEP ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, HITTING THE DRIVERS FRONT, ROLLING THE CAR ONE TIME, LANDING ON THE WHEELS AND I PUT THE BRAKES ON, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. I THEN GOT OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR BECAUSE THE DRIVER SIDE WAS SMASHED COMPLETELY DOWN NOT ALLOWING ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR OR THE WINDOW. I COULD NOT FIND MY CELL PHONE AND WENT AND LOOKED INTO THE FIELD AND FOUND WHERE MY CAR ROLLED AND FOUND THE PHONE WITH THE GLASS FROM MY WINDOW. I THEN CALLED 911 AND WAITED FOR ASSISTANCE. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO SIDNEY, NE WHERE AFTER A CATSCAN THEY FOUND THAT I HAD A BROKEN NECK IN 2 PLACES C6 AND C7. THEY THEN TRANSFERRED ME BY AMBULANCE TO FORT COLLINS, COLORADO WHERE I HAD SURGERY TO FUSE THE BROKEN VERTEBRAE. I AM NOW OUT OF WORK AND OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR NOW UNTIL I AM HEALED. I CALLED HONDA WORRIED THAT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF, ONE OF THE REASONS I BOUGHT THIS CAR WAS BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY RATING BECAUSE I WANTED MY FAMILY TO BE SAFE IN ANY EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. HONDA AFTER I CALLED THEM BACK 2 TIMES FINALLY TOLD ME THAT (CASE# N012007-11-2900916) HONDA DOES NOT DESIGN THEIR AIRBAGS TO GO OFF IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER. FUNNY HOW WHEN I DID MY RESEARCH 1 OUT OF 4 PEOPLE ARE KILLED IN A ROLLOVER. WHY WOULDN'T THAT BE A SAFETY CONCERN?? SO NEEDLESS TO SAY THERE IS NOTHING DONE TO FIX THE SITUATION. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX, HAD ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. ON 11/16/06, WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT NOTICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPM MONITOR SHOWED THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING QUICKLY. HE HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES REALLY HARD TO GET THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE THEM FOR 2 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP DROVE THE VEHICLE, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE OR THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM . THE CONTACT WILL FILE A COMPLAINT WITH MANUFACTURER, AND WILL SUBMIT THE CASE # WITH THE HARD COPY. THE FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 9500 , AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13800.*AK UPDATED 03/30/07. *JB
1. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE AUTOSTOP FEATURE. WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP, AUTOSTOP ENGAGES AS DESIGNED BUT WHEN THE CAR COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR SHUTTERS AND THE AUTOSTOP DISENGAGES. 2. WHEN DRIVING 20 MPH AND BELOW, CAR WILL FREQUENTLY JERK AND/OR RPMS WILL JUMP TO 2000 AND REMAIN THERE UNTIL ACCELERATION OR BRAKING. *TR
MY 3 YEAR OLD SON UNBUCKLED THE SEAT BELT WHILE IN CAR SEAT WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. HE MANAGED TO GET THE SEAT BELT TWISTED AROUND HIS WAIST AND CHEST. HE STARTED SCREAMING, AND WHEN I TRIED TO GET SLACK IN SEAT BELT, THERE WAS NONE. IT KEPT RESTRICTING HIM AND STARTED TO EFFECT HIS BREATHING, WHICH BECAME LABORED AND SHALLOW. AS MUCH AS I TRIED I COULD GET NO SLACK. I WENT TO LOOK FOR A KNIFE AND HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT TO FREE HIM. I TOOK IT INTO STEPHEN WADE HONDA. THEY LOOKED AT THE OTHER SEAT BELT IN THE BACK SEAT AND SAID IT WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, BUT HAD NO SLACK WHEN UNLOCKED LIKE THE OTHERS. MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY THIS. WHEN A SEAT BELT IS UNBUCKLED, THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO GET SLACK AND PULL IT OUT TO AVOID THESE VERY SITUATIONS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND THE CAM SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REDONE SO IT ALLOWS MORE SLACK FOR EMERGENCIES. *JB
I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THIS CAR IS EQUIPTED WITH A COMPLEX WEIGHT SENSOR SYSTEM WHICH ARMS/DISARMS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. WHEN THE CAR LEFT THE FACTORY THE SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. AFTER ONE ROUND OF RECALL WORK, THE SYSTEM WAS STILL DEFFECTIVE. I DO NOT BELEIVE THE COMPANY HAS ANY CLEAR IDEA HOW TO MAKE THIS COMPLEX SYSTEM FUNCTION IN A RELIABLE MANNER. I WANT THEM TO FIX THE SYSTEM SO THAT THE AIR BAGS ARE ARMED ALL THE TIME. HONDA REFUSES TO ALLOW THIS TO BE DONE. MY PASSENGER'S SAFETY IS BEING COMPROMISED BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO TURN ON THE ARIR BAGS ALL THE TIME.
MY 2006 HONDA HYBRID HAS A SURGE PROBLEM. I'VE SMELLED BATTERY FLUIDS BEFORE PLUS THE IMA DRIVE SHUTS DOWN UNDER LOAD (LONG-DISTANCE FREEWAY DRIVING) WHICH CAUSES MULTIPLE DRIVABILITY ISSUES. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT COME CLOSE TO THE ADVERTISED MPG LEVELS WHILE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED AN ACCIDENT THAT I BELIEVE MAY HAVE BEEN SURGE INSTIGATED AS THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE PEDAL THE VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD. I WAS PARKED AND HAD JUST COVERED THE BRAKE AFTER ASSESSING THE ROADWAY WHEN A WOMAN HIT ME. SHE STATED IT WAS MY FAULT BUT I HAD THE BRAKE ON AND MY WORK PARTNER SAW SOMETHING RELATED TO THIS ON THE TELEVISIONS AT A SHELL GAS STATION RELAYING THE INFORMATION TO ME. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACQUIRE ANY OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND DUE TO THE FACT I HAVE PAID (PAYING) 35 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THIS VEHICLE I FEEL HONDA OWES ME AN EXPLANATION AT THE VERY LEAST. I NEVER REPORTED THE DEFECTS AS I WAS UNDER THE BELIEF IT WAS JUST MY AMPLIFIER THAT WAS SMELLING BUT NOW I AM UNSURE. I HAVE HAD POOR SERVICE FROM CARSON HONDA IN THE PAST AND AM RELUCTANT TO USE THEM IN THE FUTURE SO IF YOU CAN HELP ME, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU. *JB

THE FIRST EVENT OCCURRED WHEN THE TIRE ITSELF JUST EXPLODED BECAUSE THE INNER WALLS OF THE TIRE WERE SO THIN AND WORN ONLY AFTER 10K MILES?? THIS CONTINUED AT 15K AND AGAIN AT 20K AND NOW AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT ONCE BUT NOW IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. 3. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED A LOCAL HONDA DEALER AUTO REPAIR DEPT. REPLACED THE TIRES, BUT THEY REFUSED TO THERE AFTER FORCING ME TO PAY FOR IT TIME AND TIME AGAIN. THEY WON'T FILE A COMPLIANT TO HONDA EITHER EVEN THOUGH THE SERVICE AGENTS ACKNOWLEDGE ITS A STRANGE WEARING THAT CLEARLY IS FROM THE CAR ITSELF. *TR
TSB 08-001 - REAR NEGATIVE CAMBER IS CAUSED BY THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM FOR BOTH REAR WHEELS. AS A RESULT, THE GEOMETRY OF THE WHEEL'S POSITION WILL CAUSE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES RESULTING IN BALD AND CUPPED TIRES. THIS WEAR CAN CAUSE EARLY FAILURE OF THE REAR TIRES AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR FOR THE DRIVER.
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX IS CAUSING EXCESSIVE, UNEVEN WEAR TO THE TIRES BECAUSE THE REAR CONTROL ARM CAUSES NEGATIVE CAMBER ON THE REAR TIRES. AS A RESULT, I REPLACE THE TIRES ONCE PER YEAR. IN ADDITION TO THE ADDED COST, THE CAR BECOMES UNSAFE AFTER A PERIOD OF DRIVING BECAUSE OF THE WEAR ON THE TIRE - CREATING CUPS AND BALD SPOTS ON THE TIRE WHICH COULD LEAD TO FAILURE OF THE REAR TIRES AND A LOSS OF CONTROL FOR THE DRIVER.
I HAVE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH A 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CAR ON 8 OCCASIONS HAS NOT RESTARTED WHEN IN THE AUTO STOP MODE WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. MY DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM SINCE IT IS INTERMITTENT. I AM STUCK IN TRAFFIC UNTIL I RESTART THE CAR BY GOING TO PARK. I FEEL I AM A SITTING DUCK AND SOONER OR LATER WILL BE REAR ENDED. *NM
I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC AND LAST FALL MY AC STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FROM WHICH I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD A PEBBLE HAD GONE THROUGH THE OPEN GRILL AND DAMAGED THE CONDENSER. THEY SHOWED ME THE DAMAGE WHICH IS ALMOST NOT NOTICEABLE. VERY LIGHT AND CERTAINLY SHOULDN'T BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE AC TO STOP WORKING. THIS IS POOR DESIGN. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. AND, IT SEEMS, IT IS NOT CONFINED TO JUST THE CIVIC BUT WITH SEVERAL HONDA VEHICLES. THE DEALER REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY AND TOLD ME TO GO TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. HOGWASH. AFTER DRIVING 10 MILES AND PARKING, THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO REVERSE. UPON BACKING OUT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. AFTER THIS, THE CAR WAS PUT INTO DRIVE TO GO BACK INTO THE PARKING SPACE. 2006 CIVIC BRAKES FAILED WHEN BACKING OUT OF GARAGE. *TS THE CONSUMER'S DRIVEWAY HAS A 6% GRADE AND IA APPROXIMATELY 45 FEET LONG. ON ONE OCCASION THE CONSUMER HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT REACHED THE SIDEWALK. THE CONSUMER RECOLLECTS THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS AT A LOWER LEVEL THAN USUAL WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND CHECK VALVE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. *NM
WITHIN WEEKS OF PURCHASE, RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP REGARDING EXCESSIVE GRINDING OF GEARS, LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN ENGAGING GEAR CHANGE ALL WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED IT TO BE BREAK IN PERIOD OR THAT I WASN'T USED TO A PERFORMANCE 6M TRANSMISSION (I DRIVE A 2003 NISSAN 350Z 6M). NEXT VISIT, RESULTED FROM MORE OF THE ABOVE, I CITED WEBSITE RESEARCH AND REFERENCE TO TRANSMISSION FLUID NOT OF QUALITY. DEALERSHIP DID CHANGE AND PROBLEM WAS LESSENED. THIRD VISIT, HAD SERVICE TECH DRIVE VEHICLE AND HE CAME TO CONCLUSION THAT "IT WOULD GET BETTER WITH USE", I TOLD HIM THAT I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT HONDA WOULD ACCEPT THAT SOLUTION. I THEN DROVE FOR PERIOD OF TIME THINKING IT WAS MY SKILLS AND THAT IT WOULD BE BETTER WHEN BROKEN IN, UNTIL FINALLY, I CALLED OUT OF FRUSTRATION AND CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS ACTUALLY POPPING OUT OF THIRD GEAR TO NEUTRAL AFTER I FELT LIKE IT WAS ENGAGED, OR I WAS HAVING TO DOUBLE CLUTCH/SHIFT AND THUS, CAUSING ME SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS AND NEAR COLLISION/REAR END DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED TIMES IT WOULD OCCUR. THIS LAST VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE DISTRICT MANAGER WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE AND WE'D SCHEDULE A VISIT WHEN HE WAS IN TOWN. THIS TIME THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR TWO DAYS AND REPORTED THAT BOTH DM AND SERVICE MANAGER DROVE WITHOUT ANY RECOGNITION OF REPORTED SYMPTOMS AND NOTHING WAS DONE. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NOT HAD THIS COMPLAINT, THEY TOOK SOME COMPRESSION READINGS AND THEY WOULD KEEP IN TOUCH. I ACCEPTED, BUT VISITED MY SALES PERSON, AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS AND SUGGESTED THAT I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS "NON-TYPICAL" HONDA RESPONSE THAT I SELL THE VEHICLE. THE SYMPTOMS PERSIST CAUSING ME A LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN VEHICLE PERFORMANCE AND CONCERNS FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF, OTHER PASSENGERS AND OTHER VEHICLES. THUS, LEADING ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR

HONDA PLACES THEIR AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) CONDENSER AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WITH NO PROTECTION, IE A SCREEN TO DEFLECT PEBBLES, RESULTING IN AN EASY TARGET FOR PEBBLES TO PUNCTURE THE FRAGILE CONDENSER TUBE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT HONDA IS REFUSING TO DEAL WITH. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT IN HIS THREE YEARS WORKING FOR HONDA, HE PERSONALLY HAS DEALT WITH ABOUT 100 OF THESE FAILURES. HOWEVER. HE DID NOT SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM AND LIKENED THE FAILURE TO A CHIPPED WINDSHIELD. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS AT A SINGLE DEALERSHIP, WITH A SINGLE REPRESENTATIVE AMONG SEVERAL. DURING COMMON, EVERYDAY, FREEWAY DRIVING, $657 DAMAGE SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS A CHIPPED WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD IS A PROTECTIVE DEVICE, AND THEREFORE DEFLECTING PEBBLES AND OTHER ROAD HAZARDS IS EXPECTED. I DON'T THINK THE A/C CONDENSER SHOULD FALL UNDER THE SAME CATEGORY AS MY FORMER HONDA DEALER HAS IMPLIED. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION EXCEPT TO BE RECOMMENDED TO MAKE IT AN INSURANCE CLAIM OR PAY THE $657 OUT OF POCKET. HONDA CIVIC HYBRID - 2006 MODEL. BATTERY ASSIST LOSES CHARGE AND DRAINS OF ANY BATTERY LIFE LEAVING GAS POWERED ENGINE TO SUPPLY ALL POWER DURING DRIVING. THE BATTER CAN DRAIN AT ANY TIME AND AT ANY SPEED. HAPPENS 2-3 TIMES PER DAY AND HAS HAPPENED GOING UPHILL WHERE 1.3LTR ENGINE IS NOT CAPABLE OF MAINTAINING SAFE SPEED WITH REST OF TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD, WHERE IT WAS DEEMED TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER, BUT A REPORT WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES ON THE LOWER PART OF BOTH LEGS.

DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WAS DOWN COMPLETELY, ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN APPROXIMATELY 3". DEALER SHIP WAS CALLED AND THEY ASK THAT THE CAR BE RETURNED IMMEDIATELY. THERE WERE NO OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS COVERED WITH GLASS DEBRIS AND ALSO OBTAINED A SMALL CUT ON FOREHEAD. TRAFFIC WAS MILD. *JB

THE CONSUMER HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE EFFORT TO STRAIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING A CONCRETE DIVIDER. ONCE THE CONSUMER DID THAT THE STEERING WHEEL FELT NORMAL AGAIN. VEHICLE AC CEASED WORKING AFTER APPROXIMATELY 9,000 MILES. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WERE PURCHASED WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A ROCK HAS MADE A HOLE IN THE AC CONDENSER. BOTH DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGED THIS WAS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT BUT INSISTED THAT ?ROAD HAZARD? (EG: ROCKS ON THE ROAD) CAUSED THE COMPONENT TO FAIL. *JB
