AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING ONLY HOT AIR. HAD TO HAVE THE CONDENSER REPLACED. TOOK THE DEALER 90 MINUTES TO LOCATE THE ISSUE. WAS UNSURE WHAT CAUSED IT BUT PERHAPS A PEBBLE. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER SAID THIS HAPPENS QUITE A BIT. I BELIEVE IT'S A FLAW IN THE DESIGN AND PROTECTION OF THIS PART. *KB
PAINT ON THE ROOF STARTED FADING AND IS GETTING WORSE AS TIME GOES BY. HONDA WON'T COVER THE PAINT ON THE ROOF UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
RE: [XXX] BEFORE DESCRIPTION LET ME SAY THAT THIS VEHICLE IS MY THIRD HONDA HYBRID CAR. THE FIRST, AN EARLY INSIGHT WAS ENTIRELY SATISFACTORY. I WISH I STILL OWNED IT. IT IS TRUE THAT IT DID GO THROUGH THE IMA BATTERY RECONDITIONING CYCLE OCCASIONALLY, BUT NOT VERY OFTEN THE SECOND, A CIVIC HYBRID, WAS ALSO QUITE SATISFACTORY. THE THIRD, A 2007 CIVIC HYBRID, IS THE PROBLEM. I WISH I HAD NEVER TRADED UP (DOWN?) TO IT. AG AN EARLY POINT THE COMPUTER INDICATED AN IMA PROBLEM, AND THE SERVICE PEOPLE TOLD ME THAT THE COMPUTER INDICATED THAT THE IMA BATTERY WAS MALFUNCTIONING. YOUR EXPERTS REQUIRED THAT THE COMPUTER BE REPROGRAMMED SO THAT THE COMPUTER NO LONGER REPORTED THE IMA PROBLEM. I CONTINUE TO BE TOLD THAT SINCE THE COMPUTER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG THERE IS NOTING THAT THE DEALER CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AT PRESENT ABOUT FIVE OR SIX TIMES EACH DAY THE INDICATOR FOR IMA CHARGE DROPS TO 2 AND THE IMA STOPS PROVIDING ASSIST WAITING FOR THE BATTERY TO RECHARGE. AFTER A WHILE THE CHARGE INDICATOR JUMPS UP TO FULL, USUALLY WITH DO PARTIAL FULL STEPS, AND THEN THE BOOST RESUMES WORK. HOWEVER IF I CLIMB ANY REASONABLE HILL ON THE HIGHWAY THE CHARGE INDICATOR DROPS TO THE POINT WHERE THERE IS NO BOOST. IT IS QUITE CLEAR THAT THE BATTERY WILL NOT HOLD A PROPER CHARGE. IT IS INCREASINGLY BECOMING A SAFETY PROBLEM SINCE WHEN STARTING UP IN TRAFFIC I CANNOT RELY ON THE IMA BOOST TO BE THERE WHEN NEEDED. QUITE HONESTLY, I THINK IT IS LONG PAST TIME FOR YOU TO HONOR THE WARRANTY AND REPLACE THE IMA BATTERY. IF THERE IS SOME OTHER CAUSE FOR THE PROBLEM, THEN IT NEEDS FIXING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD OPERATE WITHOUT BEING ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: 07-071: VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR) AND THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE TSB BUT ADVISED THAT THE MOTOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,600.
AIR CONDITIONING WAS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. WOULD BLOW COOL AIR THEN WARM AIR. CALLED THE MECHANIC AND HE ASKED ME TO BRING IN THE CAR. BEFORE I COULD DO THAT, THE CAR OVERHEATED AND SMELLED OF BURNING SMOKE. TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC. THEY REPLACED THE WATER PUMP - SAID IT WAS LEAKING. AFTER REPLACING THAT, THEY TESTED IT AND FOUND A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A NEW ENGINE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET, FOUND IT WAS UNDER AN EXTENDED 8 YEAR WARRANTY BY HONDA. THE DEALER WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE LOANER OR RENTAL CAR, SO I AM OUT A RENTAL FOR A WEEK, PLUS THE COST OF THE WATER PUMP AT $362, PLUS A MISSED DAY OF WORK TO FIGURE THIS ALL OUT, PLUS THE DEPRECIATION ON MY CAR THAT IS NOW CONSIDERED A DEFECTIVE AUTOMOBILE. IT'S A HONDA 2007 CIVIC EX. *TR
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR HAS BEEN STEADILY PEELING. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY ADMITTED THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS THEY DON'T COVER FOR THE DAMAGES. IT WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY. THE CAR WAS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WHEN WE STARTED NOTICING THE PROBLEM. *TR
SHORTLY BEFORE THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY I BEGAN TO NOTICE ISSUES WITH THE PAINT JOB. THE PAINT BEGAN TO DEVELOP LARGE AREAS ON THE ROOF, HOOD, FENDERS, AND SEVERAL OTHER AREAS OF THE CAR THAT WERE EXTREMELY FADED WITH THE CLEAR COAT TOTALLY WEARING THROUGH. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEARLERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL BACK IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS WHEN A REGIONAL REP. WOULD BE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR HIM TO EXAMINE. I CALLED BACK AND WAS ASKED IF I COULD BRING THE CAR DOWN THAT DAY, LUCKILY I WORK ONLY A FEW MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR DOWN. WHEN I GOT THERE MY SERVICE ADVISOR TOOK THE CAR FOR THE "REGIONAL" GUY TO HAVE A LOOK. ABOUT 40 MINUTES LATER MY SERVICE ADVISOR CAME BACK TO THE SERVICE LOUNGE TO TELL ME THAT, ACCORDING TO THE "REGIONAL" GUY, WHO I NEVER MET, SAID THAT IT WAS QUOTE, "ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES" THAT CAUSED THE ISSUES WITH THE PAINT JOB AND SUGGESTED THAT KEEPING THE CAR OUT OF THE SUN ( IN FLORIDA !!!! ) WOULD HELP. IN AN EFFORT TO RETAIN ME AS A CUSTOMER, SINCE BOTH MYSELF AND MY WIFE HAVE BOUGHT HONDAS FROM THAT DEALERSHIP, THEY WOULD MAKE AN OFFER TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE PAINT JOB AND THAT THEY WOULD REPAINT AND MY HALF OF THE BILL WOULD ONLY BE $1200.00 !!!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY I TURNED THEIR OFFER DOWN AND WILL SIMPLY NEVER EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA NOR WILL ANYONE ELSE IN MY FAMILY !!!!!! *TR
I BEGAN TO HEAR A NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF THE CAR IN APRIL 2011. OVER TIME THE NOISE PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE. I RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAS BEEN WEARING IMPROPERLY. I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE. WHILE RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, EVERY HONDA CIVIC WEBPAGE AND FORUM THAT I WENT TO WAS FILLED WITH THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM (RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM CAUSING RAPID WEAR OF THE TIRES). I FOUND THAT HONDA HAD EVEN SENT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN ON 2-8-08 REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I FIGURED WITH THIS MANY COMPLAINTS, THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A RECALL NOTICE THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE. IN JULY 2011 I BROUGHT MY CIVIC TO MAJESTIC HONDA OF RHODE ISLAND TO HAVE MY VEHICLE CHECKED AND ASKED IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT THEY DID CONFIRM THE PROBLEM AFTER PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH COST ME $111.02. MY CIVIC NEEDED A NEW CONTROL ARM, 4 NEW TIRES, AND AN ALIGNMENT. THESE REPAIRS WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $1066.75 OR MORE PLUS TAX. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT, HAD HONDA JUST SENT OUT A SERVICE NOTICE TO ITS CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY FIRST NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A CONTROL ARM ISSUE, WE COULD HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE FOR ONLY $455.00 -- THE COST OF A CONTROL ARM AND AN ALIGNMENT. MY SPEECH FELL UPON DEAF EARS. I COULD TELL BY THEIR DEMEANOR THAT THEY HAD HEARD MY STORY BEFORE AND DID NOT CARE AT ALL. ALL I GOT WAS, "WE'RE NOT RESPONSIBLE; CONTACT HONDA AMERICA." AFTER WRITING TO YOU, I WILL BE CONTACTING HONDA AMERICA. *TR
APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AFTER BUYING LIFETIME ALIGNMENT AND 4 NEW BRIDGESTONE POTENZA TIRES IN JULY 2011 AT FIRESTONE, EL PASO, TX, MY CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE IN THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS 50MPH THROUGH 60MPH. AFTER MANY RESEARCH AND DIAGNOSIS FROM HONDA PARTS AND SERVICE SHOP, DIFFERENT FIRESTONE LOCATIONS AND LOCAL MECHANICS, THE CONCLUSION IS THAT THE UPPER/REAR CONTROL ARMS, FRONT AND REAR CAMBER ARM AND BOLTS ARE DEFECTIVE AS PER HONDA MANUFACTURERS. MY TIRES ARE EXCESSIVELY AND UNEVENLY WEARING. I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT 6 SETS OF NEW TIRES IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS BECAUSE OF THIS HONDA ISSUE, WHICH THEY ADMIT IT IS A DEFECT MADE BY THE MANUFACTURERS. THEY RELEASED A SERVICE BULLETIN (SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 DATED APRIL 11, 2008) THAT INFORMS HONDA DEALER SHOP OF THIS ISSUE/DEFECT, BUT THEY REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF REPAIRING IT FREE OF CHARGE. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS NOT FAIR THAT CUSTOMERS BUYING HONDAS HAVE TO PAY FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS MADE BY THE MANUFACTURERS. I WOULD LIKE THESE DEFECT TO BE SOLVED AND PAID BY THEM AND I WOULD LIKE REFUND FOR AT LEAST THE LAST SET OF TIRES THAT I RECENTLY BOUGHT AND ARE ALREADY UNEVENLY WORN OUT (THIS MAKES IT A USELESS TIRE). IN CASE IT IS NEEDED I HAVE ALL THE PAPER WORK THAT CAN BE A CLEAR EVIDENCE TO THIS COMPLAINT. LIKE ME, THERE ARE OTHER HONDA OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
THE PRIMER/PAINT/TOP COAT BEGAN TO FAIL ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE CONTAINED TO THE HOOD AND ROOF, AND IT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. IT SEEMS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE QUALITY OF THE FINISHING PRODUCTS USED BY HONDA ON THIS CAR. *TR
BOTH SUN VISORS ON 07 HONDA CIVIC EX SPLIT, VISORS WILL NO LONGER STAY IN THE UP POSITION. VISORS CAUSE A DISTRACTION AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. YOU CAN GET THEM REPLACED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP BUT THEY GIVE YOU THE SAME VISORS THAT THEY KNOW ARE DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT LAST. VISORS ARE VERY CHEAPLY MADE. *TT
2007 HONDA CIVIC 4DR EX REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS CAUSING PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. THIS IS CAUSING LOUD TIRE NOISE AND UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE WEAR. *TT
2007 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS A KNOWN DEFECT AS HONDA ISSUED A TSB TO THE DEALERSHIP DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM, BUT NO NOTIFICATION WAS EVER SENT TO THE CONSUMER. *JB
AFTER ABOUT A YEAR AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR, I NOTICED THE PAINT STARTED TO APPEAR RATHER DUSKY. A SHORT TIME LATER, MY PAINT STARTED TO PEEL! MY CAR WAS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD AT TIME OF PURCHASE- SO PEELING PAINT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT OWNERS FAULT. NO SOONER DID MY ROOF BEGIN TO PEEL HEAVILY, THE HOOD AND SIDE PANELS AND NOW TRUNK ARE STARTING TO PEEL EXCESSIVELY. IT IS SO EMBARRASSING, AND SO GROSS. *TR
I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX WHICH I PURCHASED FROM DEALER NEW. RECENTLY MY DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR "RUPTURED" OPEN, AND NO LONGER STAYS IN THE SECURE POSITION. IT DROPS DOWN IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING AND OBSTRUCTS MY VISION. I AM TALL, SO THIS IS A SAFETY VISIBILITY ISSUE FOR ME. APPARENTLY HONDA ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AND ALSO SETTLED ON A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND ACKNOWLEDGED A DEFECT IN THE VISOR. HOWEVER, THE RECALL ONLY EXTENDS UP TO 100,000 MILES AND I HAVE MORE THAN THAT, SO THE DEALER SAYS HONDA WILL NOT COVER IT AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THAT IS VERY WRONG, PARTICULARLY WHEN HONDA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECTIVE PART, AND IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR IN OUR 2007 HONDA CIVIC BREAKS IN THE SUMMER TIME. IT CRACKS AT THE JOINT THAT MOUNTS TO THE ROOF. CAUSES VISORS TO HANG DOWN ALL THE TIME AND HAMPER VIEW. APPARENTLY A DEFECT IN THE MATERIALS. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL FOR ABOUT THREE SECONDS AND THEN RESTART AND STALL COMPLETELY. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP WOULD ILLUMINATE BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REBOOTED THE COMPUTER BUT AFTER A COUPLE DAYS THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,382.
FAULTY SUSPENSION CAUSES TIRES TO WEAR QUICKLY AND UNEVENLY. TIRES DEVELOP CUPS THAT CAUSE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AT ALL SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES AND AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS, THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ONLY ILLUMINATED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS LOW AND FAILED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE ROSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LED LIGHT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
HAD TO REPLACE TIRES DUE TO UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON THE INSIDE TREAD AFTER 22,000 MILES.. HAD THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS REPLACES AS WELL. PURCHASED PIRELLI TIRES RATED FOR 85,000 MILES. PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN AT 27,000 MILES ON THE TIRES AND 65,000 MILES ON CAR. SEEMS LIKE THIS CAR GOES THROUGH TIRES EVERY 20-25,000 MILES. HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *KB
I DRIVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC, AND LATELY THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO MOVE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, AND LAST WEEK I NOTICED THE CASING NEAR THE ROD AROUND WHICH THE VISOR ROTATES CRACKING. TODAY THE VISOR CAME OFF COMPLETELY AND I REALIZE THAT THE TEETH SECURING THE VISOR TO THE ROD DON'T ROTATE AROUND THE ROD ANYMORE, FORCING THE PLASTIC IN THE VISOR TO WARP AND EVENTUALLY BREAK COMPLETELY. THIS CAUSES THE VISOR TO STAY COMPLETELY DOWN, BLOCKING MUCH OF THE FIELD OF VISION. AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, I'M SURE I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PART. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID 1.) WHILE DRIVING AT RANDOM TIMES AND DIFFERENT SPEEDS THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AND WHILE DRIVING INTO TOWN. I WAS VERY UNSAFE ON THE FREEWAY. IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND HAD TO TRY TO STEER OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. 3.) TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER IN SALEM A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND HAD THE RECALLED VOLTAGE CONVERTER REPLACED AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT. NOTHING APPARENTLY HAPPENED TO CORRECT IT STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM. *TR
ORIGINAL OWNER. AFTER IMA BATTERY SOFTWARE UPGRADE OWNER NOW EXPERIENCES RANDOM LOSS OF BATTERY POWER LEVEL. BATTERY INDICATOR RANDOMLY FALLS TO 1 BAR AND DURING THIS TIME, SLUGGISH TO POOR ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY IN HIGHWAY MERGE SITUATIONS PLACING OWNER IS DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. WHEN BATTERY CHARGED AT LEAST 50%, ACCELERATION IS ACCEPTABLE AS THE IMA ASSIST IN ACCELERATION. *TR
THE CONDENSER ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC WAS RECENTLY PUNCTURED BY A SMALL PEBBLE DURING NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING. I HAVE SINCE (THROUGH INTERNET RESEARCH) FOUND THIS TO BE A PREVALENT PROBLEM AMONG HONDA CIVIC OWNERS. UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION, I FOUND THAT THERE IS LITTLE PROTECTION AFFORDED THE CONDENSER. ROAD DEBRIS CAN EASILY FLY THROUGH THE VENTS IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AND PUNCTURE THE CONDENSER. WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AT 60,000 MILES HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS AT 600 MILES, AND IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN TOMORROW. THE REPAIR COST TO REPLACE THE CONDENSER ($600) IS PROHIBITIVE, AND THE LACK OF A PROTECTIVE GRILLE IS A GLARING DESIGN FLAW. A RECALL IS WARRANTED. I WISH THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, AND HONDA SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES INCURRED TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. *TR
1.- 2007 HONDA CIVIC REAR TIRE CONTROL ARMS ARE DEFECTIVE, CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH TIRES. DEFECTIVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON THE 2006 - 2007 HONDA CIVICS. HONDA CHOSE TO WITHHOLD THIS INFORMATION FROM CONSUMERS AND ONLY TO ISSUE A SERVICE BULLETIN TO DEALERSHIPS. THIS ISSUES CAUSES YOUR CAR TO GO OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND YOUR TIRES TO HAVE AN IRREGULAR WEAR PATTERN. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CREATES AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF NOISE FROM YOUR TIRES AND MAY IMPEDE YOUR ABILITY TO STOP AND TO TURN. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE, AT IT CAN ALSO CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR TO YOUR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. HONDA'S DECISION TO DELIBERATELY WITHHOLD THIS INFORMATION FROM CONSUMERS PUTS CONSUMERS AT RISK WHEN IT IS LEFT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE THE ONES TO DETERMINE WHICH CARS ARE INVOLVED/AFFECTED. THIS IS NOT JUST AN ISOLATED INCIDENT WHERE ONLY A FEW CARS HAVE BEEN AFFECTED AND NUMEROUS CONSUMERS HAVE HAD THEIR TIRES RUINED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. THEY ARE EXTREMELY LOUD AND ALTHOUGH THE TREAD DEPTH IS EXACTLY THE SAME ON ALL FOUR TIRES. BECAUSE I ROTATE THE TIRES EVERY 4,000 MILES, NO ONE AT HONDA EVER DETERMINED THAT MY CAR WAS ONE OF THE ONES THAT HAD THE DEFECT. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA DID NOT WANT TO HAVE TO ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT TO PUT OUT THE EXPENSE TO DO SO AND FELT THEY WOULD DEAL WITH CONSUMERS ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM CORRECTED AND HAVE HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER DRIVE MY CAR, SUBSEQUENT TO THE REPAIR. HE DOES NOT DISPUTE THE FACT THAT THE TIRES ARE LOUD AND THAT THE DAMAGE TO THE TIRES WAS DONE SPECIFICALLY DUE TO THE DEFECT. HOWEVER, HONDA IS STILL REFUSING TO REPLACE MY TIRES. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY FAMILY ON TIRES THAT HAVE BEEN RUINED SOLEY BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT AND FEEL THAT HONDA NEEDS TO NOT ONLY ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE DEFECT BUT ALSO NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE TIRES THAT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DUE TO THE DEFECT! *KB
THE VISOR ON MY HONDA CIVIC 2007 HAS CRACKED AND HANGS DOWN IN MY FACE CAUSING VISIBILITY OF THE ROAD TO BE GREATLY DIMINISHED. EX COUPE MODELS. 3RD HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT MALFUNCTIONING. VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION FOR THIS REASON. LIGHT CAME BACK ON THEN WENT OFF AGAIN WHILE MOVING WIRES A FEW TIMES. LED LIGHT NOT BLOWN, STILL WORKING BUT WIRING IS CAUSING THE MALFUNCTION. GOING TO HAVE THE VEHICLE RE-WIRED CORRECTLY. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM CONSUMERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. LED LIGHTS SHOULDN'T BLOW OUT THIS SOON BUT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM THE WHOLE LED STRIP HAS TO BE REPLACED AND ONLY HONDA CARRIES THE PART. ITS ALSO VERY HARD TO ACCESS THE LED PANEL/STRIP FOR REPLACEMENT. RE-WIRING IS THE ONLY CHEAPER OPTION. *TR
I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL 2007 TIRES AT 41,887 MILES IN 2009 WITH PREMATURE WEAR. EIGHTEEN MONTHS LATER, I HAD TERRIBLE ROAD NOISE. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEARINGS. IT TURNS OUT THAT DESPITE AN ALIGNMENT AND PROPER ROTATION, MY TIRES WERE ALL CUPPED IN LESS THAN 26,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC MENTIONED THE PROBLEM HONDA HAD WITH THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS IN THIS VEHICLE. I JUST SPENT ANOTHER $218 TO GET UPDATED REAR UPPER CONTROLS ARMS ON TOP OF $800 FOR NEW TIRES AND ANOTHER ALIGNMENT. HONDA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE POOR QUALITY CONTROL AND NOT ALERTING ME THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM. THE TIRES I JUST REPLACED WERE GOOD FOR 85,000 MILES. *KB

ENGINE OVER HEATED AND FROZE UP DUE TO LOSING COOLANT THROUGH ENGINE BLOCK CRACK. CRACK CAUSED FROM DEFECTIVE ENGINE BLOCKS AS ADMITTED BY HONDA CORP. TOTAL LOSS OF POWER ON HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD TO THE YOUNG TEENAGED DRIVER. CAR WAS BOUGHT USED ON A SALVAGE TITLE AND DRIVEN A YEAR WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL THIS FAILURE OCCURRED. HONDA WILL NOT REPLACE ENGINE STILL ON WARRANTY DUE TO SALVAGE TITLE.

AFTER BATTERY UPGRADE DUE TO HONDA RECALL NOTICE, THE 2007 CIVIC HYBRID BATTERY DOES NOT HOLD ITS CHARGE AS WELL AS IT USED TO. THIS IS DANGEROUS IN ICY CONDITIONS, AS ACCELERATING IS SLOW. CERTAIN 2006 AND 2007 HONDA CIVICS WERE PRODUCED WITH IMPROPERLY SPEC'ED REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT DAMAGED TO THE REAR TIRES (CUPPING). HONDA ISSUED TWO TSB'S BUT ONLY ACTS ON THE PROBLEM ONCE THE TIRE DAMAGE IS PRONOUNCED. CUPPED TIRES EFFECT BRAKING, HANDLING, AND IN EXTREME CASES, TIRE FAILURE. I OWN AN 06 AND 07, ALL DEALER MAINTAINED, AND OF THE FOUR DEALERS I AND MY DAUGHTER HAVE DEALT WITH, ONLY ONE BROUGHT THE PROBLEM TO MY ATTENTION ONCE MY TIRES WERE CUPPED AND I COMPLAINED OF A VIBRATION IN MY SUSPENSION. THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED BUT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIRES AT MY EXPENSE. INDIVIDUALS WHO DO NOT PROPERLY SERVICE THEIR CIVICS ARE AT RISK OF POOR HANDLING, TIRE FAILURE AND ACCIDENTS DUE TO CUPPED AND FAILED TIRES. THE INTERNET IS REPLETE WITH COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM. IN 2008 I NOTED THAT THE TIRES OF OUR 2007 HONDA CIVIC WERE WEARING UNEVENLY. I DISCOVERED THIS WHEN I ROTATED THE REAR TIRES TO THE FRONT AFTER ABOUT 25,000 MILES AND IT JUST ROARED. WE TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE UPPER REAR CONTROL ARMS AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM AND PRORATE THE REAR TIRES. AT THAT TIME I ELECTED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES AND ASSUMED THAT HONDA HAD FIXED THE DEFECT. AFTER 25,000 MILES, THE ROAR IS BACK AND I AGAIN HAVE CUPPED TIRES ON THE REAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS EVENTUALLY THIS SUSPENSION DEFECT COULD LEAD TO EITHER TIRE FAILURE AND/OR LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM (SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001) BUT TOLD US WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE DEALER THAT IT WAS AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. WHILE POOR ALIGNMENT CAN LEAD TO CUPPED TIRES, I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING BULLETIN BOARDS ON THE INTERNET AND SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT OTHERS ARE STILL EXPERIENCING TIRE WEAR THAT RESULTS IN CUPPED TIRES AFTER THE 15,000 TO 25,000 MILES ON TIRES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST 60,000 TO 75,000 MILES. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR TO AND FROM COLLEGE AND HAS NOT HAD A MAJOR FAILURE YET. HOWEVER, IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT HAD I NOT RECENTLY RIDDEN IN THE CAR AND HEARD THE PROBLEM THAT SHE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT, UNAWARE THAT SHE MAY BE HEADING FOR A CATASTROPHIC TIRE FAILURE DUE TO THIS DESIGN FAILURE. SPECIFICALLY, IT APPEARS THAT 2007 HONDA CIVIC REAR ENDS WILL "DRAG" THE REAR TIRES DOWN THE ROAD IF THE THERE ARE REAR PASSENGERS OR CARGO. IN OTHER WORDS, THE SUSPENSION IS INCORRECTLY DESIGNED AND REAR TIRES DO NOT TRACK CORRECTLY WHEN THE CAR HAS LOAD IN THE REAR OR TRUNK. I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL TOWARD AN INTERSECTION WITH A HEAVILY TRAVELLED CROSS STREET. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION AND IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE REVVED UP. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS IN SPITE OF PUTTING ALL MY WEIGHT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR BEGAN GRADUALLY EDGING FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION. WITHOUT TAKING MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE I SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE ENGINE WENT BACK TO ITS REGULAR IDLING SPEED. I TOOK IT INTO A HONDA DEALER AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT RECCURRED, YET.

I TALKED TO HONDA ABOUT IT AT THE TIME AND THEY SAID THEY HAD HAD LOTS OF COMPLAINTS BUT THAT MY YEAR WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS COVERED. RECENTLY I WENT IN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY YEAR HAD BEEN COVERED BUT THAT TIME HAS RUN OUT. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE ADVISED PEOPLE IF THERE WAS AN ISSUE.
