TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER RECEIVING NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V106000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER TO SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WOULD NOT BECOME AVAILABLE FOR TWO WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE DEALER'S INFORMATION. THE MANUFACTURER THEN SUGGESTED CALLING SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEALERS TO DETERMINE IF THE PART WAS IN STOCK. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL COULD CAUSE A CRASH AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE ALL PARTS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
HONDA CIVIC 2007 - THE ENGINE LEAKED COOLANT WITHOUT WARNING AND OVERHEATED. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO STATED THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED DUE TO A KNOWN ISSUE TSB #SB-08-044. DEALER STATED HONDA WOULD COVER REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. HOWEVER WHILE REPLACING THE ENGINE BLOCK, ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WAS FOUND THAT RESULTED FROM THE ENGINE OVERHEATING. HONDA IS ONLY TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENGINE BLOCK AND CHARGING ME FOR THE REMAINING COSTS. *TR

DRIVING INTO THE PARKING LOG GOING AROUND 7 MPH THE SUPPORT ARM FOR THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL SHOCK/SUSPENSION SNAPPED IN THE MIDDLE AND MY WHEEL WAS BASICALLY DRAGGING FOR AROUND 20 FEET SO I COULD PARK AND WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. THIS CAR IS USED AS A COMMUTE CAR SINCE I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY I DRIVE AROUND 70 MILES A DAY COMBINED MOSTLY AT 70 MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL ON DECENT HIGHWAYS. I DON'T JUMP OFF RAMPS OR DRIVE CRAZY THIS IS CLEARLY POOR MANUFACTURING, WORKMANSHIP, OR DESIGN. I'M GLAD IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PARKING AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME ABNORMALLY FIRM. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. THE WINDOW WOULD DERAIL AND BOUNCE BACK DOWN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW HAD TO BE CLOSED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE GLASS AND RAIL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. A FRIEND MENTIONED HIS 07 CIVIC WAS SHAKING. HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT, SO I LOOKED IT UP. THIS NEEDS TO BE A HONDA " RECALL" BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE HAVING TO PAY BIG MONEY FOR TIRES, ALIGNMENTS ETC. OUR 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX 4DR BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE MILD SHAKING DURING DRIVING WITH AN INCREASED SHAKE THE FASTER WE DROVE. THIS RESULTED IN ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DURING SLIGHT SLIPPERY CONDITIONS ON THE HIGHWAY DURING THE WINTER BECAUSE OF A FISHTAILING EFFECT THAT WAS BEING INDUCED. THE RESULT IS BECAUSE OF REAR CONTROL ARMS ON THIS VEHICLE BEING MANUFACTURED TOO SMALL CAUSING A NEGATIVE CAMBER OF THE REAR WHEELS AND CAUSING PREMATURE AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR OF THE INNER HALF OF THE TIRES. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW INCREASING OVER TIME AND WAS NEVER RECALLED BY HONDA BUT SIMPLY ISSUED TO DEALERSHIPS UNDER SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 WHICH WAS NEVER CARRIED OUT DURING REGULAR SERVICE OF THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP. ONLY NOW WHEN I COMPLAINED OF A SHAKE AND FURTHER RESEARCH BY MYSELF HAVE THEY DECIDED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE WINTER AND SUMMER TIRES NOW THAT HAVE UNEVEN WEAR ON THEM AND HAVE EXPERIENCED HEADACHE-INDUCING SHAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT THE PRESENT MOMENT HONDA IS REPAIRING THESE REAR CONTROL ARMS BUT I HAVE TO FLIP THE BILL FOR LABOR, AN ALIGNMENT, AND 2 NEW SETS OF TIRES WHICH ARE SAID TO BE COVERED UNDER THE SERVICE BULLETIN BY HONDA. UNSAFE HANDLING. THE REAR OF THE CAR ABNORMALLY "DARTS" LATERALLY WHEN GOING OVER CONCRETE EXPANSION JOINTS, POTHOLES OR SIMILAR ROAD IMPERFECTIONS. THIS MOMENTARY "DARTING" - OR INABILITY OF THE REAR SUSPENSION TO TRACK CORRECTLY - IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN CORNERING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I EXPERIENCED A SPIN-OUT (FORTUNATELY, NO COLLISION) ON A WET ROAD AT 45-50MPH DUE TO OVERCORRECTION FOR THIS "DARTING" CONDITION. IN CONJUNCTION WITH POOR REAR SUSPENSION HANDLING, ACCELERATED AND EXCESSIVE INNER REAR TIRE WEAR IS EXPERIENCED. EFFECTIVELY SHORTENING THE LIFESPAN OF A 35,000 TO 50,000 MILE TIRE BY AT LEAST HALF, IF NOT MORE. IT IS EVEN MORE EXCESSIVE AND ACCELERATED IF THE TIRES ARE NOT ROTATED. AFTER MY SPIN-OUT, I STARTED RESEARCHING 2007 CIVIC HANDLING / TIRE-WEAR ON-LINE AND IT APPEARS MANY, MANY 2006-2007 CIVIC OWNERS HAVE ONE OR BOTH OF THESE CONDITIONS AND THAT HONDA IS AWARE, BUT NOT WILLING TO RECALL THIS UNSAFE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM DESIGN/MANUFACTURING FLAW. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FALLS DOWN INTO THE LINE OF VISION ON OUR 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX SEDAN. IT APPEARS THE VISOR HAS BECOME WARPED AND WILL NOT STAY SEATED AND OFTEN FALLS DOWN INTO YOUR LINE OF SIGHT OUT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. ONLY RECOURSE IS TO SWING IT OVER TOWARDS THE DOOR BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS YOUR VISION IS BLOCKED UNTIL THE SUN VISOR CAN BE RE-LOCATED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE HAVING THE TIRES REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HUB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE FAILURE CAUSED EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR ON THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER THEN REPLACED THE ECM AND PCM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE IMA BATTERY SINCE ONE OF THE CODES FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST READ THAT THE IMA CODE WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V106000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CHARGE $431.68, DEALER STATES NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, YET SAME WINDOW HAD FAILED ON 12/27/2007. *07/26/2010 IMA (HYBRID BATTERY) SOFTWARE UPDATED AGAIN, HAD BEEN DONE 07/10/2010. STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *12/09/2010 IMA FAILED (HYBRID BATTERY) AND ENGINE LIGHT ON. DEALER REPLACED IMA BATTERY, UNDER WARRANTY. FIRST REPORTED CONCERN TO DEALER 05/01/2009. TWO UPDATES TO SOFTWARE ATTEMPTS UNSUCCESSFUL. RECALL DOCUMENTED BY HONDA. *12//18/2010 LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. CHARGED $48.69 TO DIAGNOSE. DEALER ASKING ABOUT $400.00 TO REPAIR. UNABLE TO AFFORD DEALER COST, REPAIRED ELSEWHERE. HAVE LEARNED THERE MAY BE A RECALL ON SAME ISSUE NHTSA #: 07V399000. *01/15/2011 GAS CAP DOOR LEVER FAILED. UNABLE TO OPEN GAS CAP DOOR TO PUMP GAS. MECHANISM BROKE THAT HAS CABLE TRAVELING FROM DRIVER'S SEAT TO GAS CAP DOOR. HAD TO DISMANTLE COMPONENT FROM WITHIN THE TRUNK TO OPEN. I WAS AT A GAS STATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED AT NIGHT. DEALER IS NOT OPEN AT THIS TIME. VERY CONCERNED WITH CAR'S MULTIPLE FUNCTION FAILURES. NON OF WHICH HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY DRIVER. 2007 HONDA HYBRID IMA PROBLEMS HONDA UPDATE NOW CAR REALLY UNSAFE. ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID THE IMA BATTERY WILL SUDDENLY DROP FROM A CHARGE TO NO CHARGE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR LOSES ALMOST ALL ACCELERATION POWER BECAUSE THE GASOLINE ENGINE IS FORCED TO CHARGE THE BATTERY UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME DURING ACCELERATION ONTO MAJOR HIGHWAYS DURING RUSH HOUR WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WITHOUT ACCELERATION POWER. I WOULD LIKE HONDA MOTOR TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE INSTEAD OF ISSUING SOFTWARE RECALLS THAT DO NOTHING TO THE CAR. *TR

THE SUN VISOR IN MY 2007 TWO DOOR HONDA HAS BROKEN AND WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE. IT GETS IN THE WAY OF MY VISION AND DISTRACTS ME WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE. THE DESIGN FLAW OF THE VISORS IN THIS CAR IS MAJOR. IT WILL NOT STAY UP AND FALLS DOWN IN FRONT OF MY FACE. A FEW TIMES IT HAS CAUSED SUCH A DISTRACTION I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD TRYING TO KEEP IT OUT OF MY FACE. THIS OCCURS EVERY DAY AND I HAVE TO MOVE IT TO THE SIDE WHICH BOTHERS ME. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS FAILURE. I AM NOT PAYING $100 FOR A REPLACEMENT WHICH WILL ONLY END UP FAILING ANYWAYS. I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI WHICH HAS FAULTY SUN VISORS. THE VISORS APPEAR TO BE MADE OF TWO SEPARATE PIECES WHICH SEPARATE APART IN THE HEAT. DUE TO THIS SEPARATION, THEY DO NOT "GRIP" THE LITTLE ARM WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE CEILING; THEREFORE, THE VISORS CANNOT BE PUSHED UP TO THE CEILING. NO-MATTER-WHAT THE VISORS DROPS DOWN AND RETURNS TO THE POSITION IT WOULD BE TO BE USED (FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE SUN IS IN YOUR EYES).. HOWEVER IT IS A DISTRACTION AND A COMPLETE NUISANCE TO ANY DRIVER. I AM PETITE AND IT OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW; HOWEVER, IF ANYONE ELSE WHO IS TALLER THAN ME ATTEMPTS TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE THEY CANNOT SEE STRAIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM BECAUSE THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE AGAINST THE CEILING.. MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC'S PAINT STARTED WEBBING AND PEELING ON THE HOOD AND ROOF OVER A YEAR AGO. DEALER SAID NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT SUGGESTED AN AUTO BODY SHOP I COULD GO TO. PAINT ON 2007 HONDA CIVIC COUPE (BLACK) FADING, CHIPPING, OXIDIZING SAME AS NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AND SEVERAL OTHERS. THE WEAR ON THIS PAINT IS NOT "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" FOR A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE, NOR IS IT A RESULT OF INADEQUATE WAX, MAINTENANCE, ETC. THIS IS A DEFECT WHICH HONDA SHOULD FIX. I HAVE LESS THAN 65,000 MILES ON MY CAR. IT HAS RECEIVED REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE FROM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. AFTER REPLACING THE 4 ORIGINAL MICHELIN TIRES @ 38,000 MILES I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR TIRES 3 ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE CAR HAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD "HUMMING" NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END. IT EATS UP THE REAR TIRES QUICKLY, WHICH CAUSE THE CAR TO MISHANDLE. EACH NEW SET OF REAR TIRES WEARS OUT MORE QUICKLY THAN THE PREVIOUS ONES. MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC 2-DOOR COUPE HAD WRONG REAR SUSPENSION UPPER CONTROL ARMS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. AT THE 30,000 SERVICE, THE HONDA DEALER ROTATED TIRES AND I HAD A SEVERE SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER ROTATED THE TIRES BACK AND TOLD ME I HAD DEFECTIVE TIRES--THEY HAD WORN UNEVENLY. REAR TIRES WEAR ALSO VERY NOISY, ESPECIALLY ON SMOOTH ROADS (LOAD RUMBLE AND A "BEAT"). I HAD A BLOW OUT AT 40,000 MILES AND REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. AT THE 60,000 MILE SERVICE THE DEALER ROTATED THE TIRES AND AGAIN I HAD A SEVERE SHIMMY. DEALER SAID THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND TO RETURN TO TIRE DEALER. I WENT TO TIRE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR HAD A REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEM. TIRE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME TO LOOK ONLINE AS MANY CIVICS HAD REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. WENT BACK TO HONDA DEALER, SHOWED HIM A FORM FROM THE TIRE DEALER STATING MY CAR HAD A SUSPENSION PROBLEM. HONDA DEALER INSPECTED REAR SUSPENSION AND FOUND MY CIVIC HAD THE WRONG UPPER CONTROL ARMS INSTALLED. AFTER DEALER AND I CONTACTED HONDA WITH THE COMPLAINT, HONDA OFFERED TO COVER ALL BUT $300 OF THE $800 REPAIR. I HAD THE REPAIR DONE BY THE DEALER AND PAID $300. THE IMA BATTERY PACK IN MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID FAILED AT 68,000 MILES. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, ON ONE OCCASION THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT A STOP SIGN AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED. THE MELTING OF THE VISOR INSIDES, DUE TO HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, IS NOW A KNOWN DEFECT TO MANY OWNERS AND THE DEALERSHIPS. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS QUALITY CONTROL MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CONTINUES TO RECUR AND HONDA SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE ARTICLE ON BEHALF OF THE CONSUMER/CUSTOMER. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM WARRANTS INVESTIGATION AND FOLLOW UP BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAPPENS DUE TO SOMEONE NOT EFFECTING THE REPAIR IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME DUE TO THE PROHIBITIVE COST PLACED ON THE SHOULDERS OF THE CONSUMER. *TR
