I WAS DRIVING LOCALLY YESTERDAY, AND MY CAR OVERHEATED. I PULLED OVER AND LET THE ENGINE COOL DOWN, THEN CHECKED THE COOLANT IN THE RADIATOR. IT WAS EMPTY, AS WAS THE RESERVE TANK. AFTER LETTING THE CAR COMPLETELY COOL, I DROVE IT TO THE LOCAL GAS STATION AND PURCHASED SOME ENGINE COOLANT. I FILLED UP THE RADIATOR AND THE RESERVE TANK, AND DROVE HOME. I HAD AN APPOINTMENT AT A DEALER FOR TODAY ALREADY, SO I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THEM. THEY SAID IT WAS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS CAR IS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX, WITH ~65K MILES ON IT. IT'S NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD YET. I'M WAITING ON THE DEALER TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH THIS WILL COST ME. *TR
ENGINE FAILURE IN 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS. ENGINE SEIZED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. DANGEROUS SITUATION AS CAR GIVES NO WARNING OF PROBLEM AND JUST STALLS. *TR
OUR 2007 HONDA CIVIC SUN VISOR HAS BROKEN TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS ONLY A MONTH OR SO AFTER PURCHASING BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. WHEN THE SUN VISOR BREAKS, IT DANGLES IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S VIEW. WHETHER IN THE FRONT OR PUSHED TO THE SIDE, THE BROKEN SUN VISOR TILTS DOWN AND DANGLES IN A DISTRACTING WAY WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER OF THE CIVIC. THE SUN VISOR WAS VERY POORLY DESIGNED BY HONDA. STRUCTURALLY SPEAKING, THE TORSIONAL RESISTANCE REQUIRED TO ROTATE THE VISOR FROM THE UP POSITION TO THE DOWN POSITION WASN'T CORRECTLY DESIGNED FOR. THE RESULT IS THAT THE INTERNAL PLASTIC CLAMPS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO RESIST ALL FORCES FROM THE INTERNALLY ROTATING METAL ARM, FAIL AND AFTER THESE PLASTIC CLAMPS INTERNALLY GET TORN APART, THE SUN VISOR DANGLES ODDLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER AND CAUSES A DANGEROUS DISTRACTION. THIS POORLY DESIGNED SUN VISOR FAILS VERY EASILY UNDER NORMAL USE, AND GIVES NO WARNING OF DISTRESS, BEFORE FAILING SUDDENLY. THIS SUN VISOR SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A CORRECTLY DESIGNED SUN VISOR THAT WON'T BRAKE AND CAUSE THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT SPEEDS OF 2 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN UNUSUAL SQUEAKING COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND THE UPPER CONTROL ARM WERE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC GX . THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR AND WAS FORCED TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE AHEAD OF HIM. THE IMPACT CRACKED THE CONTACT'S RADIATOR.THE PASSENGER'S AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND AT HAD NOT YET BEEN INSPECTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48,000.
MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC BEGAN HAVING A LOUD SOUND COMING FROM THE DRIVERS REAR WHEEL. UPON LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA - SERVICE BULLETIN # 07-055 FOR REAR ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND O-RING INSPECTION. IT STATED THAT SOME SENSORS WERE NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY AND WATER MAY ENTER THE HUB ASSEMBLY DAMAGING THE WHEEL BEARINGS. IN AREAS WHERE ROAD SALT IS USED, THE WHEEL BEARINGS MAY CORRODE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE WHEEL FALLING OFF. I LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE ROAD SALT IS USED. MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER WAS LISTED WITHIN THE RANGE OF POTENTIALLY EFFECTED VEHICLES ON THE RECALL, BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. I CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE, EXPLAINED THAT MY CAR HAS THE WHEEL BEARING ISSUE AS STATED IN THE RECALL. THEY STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT EFFECTED AND ONLY CERTAIN VEHICLES IN THE NOTICE WERE EFFECTED, NOT ALL VINS LISTED. THEY STATED MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL EVEN IF MY VEHICLE HAS THE DEFECT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A SERVICE REPAIR CENTER WHICH CONFIRMED THAT MY REAR WHEEL BEARING WAS BAD AND CORRODED. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. I HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE RECALL AND FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL THE VEHICLES THEY HAVE LISTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. IT'S OBVIOUS MORE VEHICLES ARE EFFECTED THAN THEY THOUGHT. IF THEY LIST A RANGE OF VIN NUMBERS THAN THEY SHOULD CHECK ALL ON THE LIST, NOT JUST PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH ONES THEY THINK MIGHT HAVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WAS LOOSE AND DID NOT STAY IN THE FULL UP OR FULL DOWN POSITION RELIABLY, TROUBLE BEGAN A YEAR AFTER DELIVERY AND GRADUALLY BECAME WORSE. IN JUNE, 2010, THE VISOR SUDDENLY SPLIT OPEN AND THE VISOR HUNG LOOSELY AND WOULD STAY IN THE UP POSITION. I REPAIRED THE VISOR BY CLAMPING THE SPLIT PARTS TOGETHER WITH A U-SHAPED PIECE OF STAINLESS STEEL. SEEMS TO BE HOLDING FOR NOW. *TR
CAR SITS IN THE SUN WHILE AT WORK. I HAVE TINTED WINDOWS, LEAVE THEM SLIGHTLY CRACKED TO GET SOME AIRFLOW, AND ALSO USE A SUN SHIELD ON THE WINDSHIELD TO KEEP AS MUCH HEAT OUT AS I CAN. STILL, THE SUN VISOR HINGES FAIL AND THE VISORS HANG DOWN IN YOUR FACE WITH NO WAY TO GET THEM OUT OF THE WAY EXCEPT REMOVING THEM FROM THE CAR COMPLETELY. I HAD ONE VISOR REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY LAST YEAR, AND NOW BOTH DRIVER/PASSENGER VISORS ARE BROKEN IN THE EXACT SAME MANNER, INCLUDING THE VISOR THAT WAS ALREADY REPLACED ONCE. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAVING THE VISOR FLIP DOWN IN YOUR FACE WITH NO WAY TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE WAY IS A BIG PROBLEM. I'M A PRETTY TALL GUY, AND THE VISOR IS DIRECTLY IN MY FIELD OF VISION WHEN IT FALLS DOWN. HOLDING IT UP OUT OF THE WAY WITH ONE HAND, SECOND HAND ON THE WHEEL, AND TRYING TO SHIFT TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE TO REMOVE THE VISOR IS NO EASY TASK... AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, THERE HAS BEEN NO REDESIGN OF THIS PART, SO IT WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN (SEEMINGLY EVERY SUMMER) EVEN IF I WERE TO PAY TO GET THE VISORS REPLACED EACH YEAR. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR SPLIT AND NO LONGER LAYS FLAT AGAINST THE ROOF, CREATING A VISIBILITY PROBLEM. *TR
I AM A RESIDENT OF CHARLESTON SC AND IT GETS FAIRLY HOT HERE WITH SUMMER MONTH TEMPERATURES. I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC AND THE SUN VISORS ( BOTH OF THEM) HAVE MELTED , CRACKED AND BROKEN FROM MY CAR GETTING WARMER INSIDE WHILE SITTING.THE VISORS HANG IN THE LINE OF VIEW FOR MYSELF AND PASSENGERS OF MY VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THIS CAR IS FAIRLY NEW,AND A SAFETY ISSUE LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING THIS IS PRETTY COMMON OCCURRENCE AFTER RESEARCHING THIS. *TR
TOOK CAR TO DISCOUNT TIRE BECAUSE REAR TIRE NOT HOLDING AIR. ON INSPECTION OF TIRE IT WAS WORN WHERE THE BELTS WERE EXPOSED. REPLACED TIRES AT THAT TIME AND HAD ALIGNMENT. TIRES RATED FOR 60,000 MILES. ON 1/30/2013 TOOK CAR IN FOR TIRE ROTATION. WAS SHOWN BADLY CUPPED TIRES. MILEAGE ON THE CAR WAS 67,000. HALF THE MILEAGE THE TIRES WERE RATED FOR. REPLACED TIRES YET AGAIN. JUST RECEIVED NOTICE OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT AND CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT FOR THE HONDA CIVIC. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE HONDA CIVIC SI 2007. WHY IS THE SI EXCLUDED??. IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME BODY STYLE AND USES THE SAME CONTROL ARMS WHICH APPEARS TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. IN FACT, YOUR SAFETY COMPLAINT FORM DOESN'T EVEN LIST HONDA SI. IT ONLY LISTS HONDA CIVIC. WITH SUCH AGGRESSIVE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR IT WOULD SEEM TO POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM SINCE THE TIRES WEAR OUT SO QUICKLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ENTERING THE HIGHWAY FROM AN ON RAMP WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 10 MPH. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HYBRID BATTERY AND REPROGRAMMING OF THE BATTERY SOFTWARE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REQUESTED THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE TO BE INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER WOULD ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE SUN VISOR IN MY HONDA KEEPS FALLING APART AND SOMETIMES IT FALLS RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I SEE ONLINE THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF HONDA OWNERS. CAN YOU DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? THIS IS THE SECOND VISOR THAT WENT BAD. IT IS VERY DISTRACTING WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. *TR
STARTED NOTICING A ROUGH RIDE AND EXCESSIVE ROAD NOISE SO TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR ALIGNMENT AND WAS TOLD THE NOISE WAS DUE TO TIRE WEAR. OVER THE PAST YEAR TWO REPAIR PLACES THAT HAVE REPLACED MY OIL HAVE TOLD ME THE TIRE WEAR WAS DUE TO WORN OUT STRUTS. THIS SPRING THE DEALER FINALLY TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM CAUSED BY THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS AND IT WOULD COST CLOSE TO $400 TO REPLACE THEM. MY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT HAD BEEN ON MOST OF THE TIME FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND THE HONDA DEALER TOLD ME DURING THIS VISIT THAT THIS IS ALSO A COMMON PROBLEM AND IF I DIDN'T GET IT FIXED MY AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF A WIRE HARNESS FOR NEARLY $1300. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA TO SEE IF THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THESE PROBLEMS AND THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARMS FOR $75 AND THE WIRING HARNESS FOR $375 BUT I ONLY HAD 60 DAYS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS FOR THIS PRICE. I GOT THE ARMS REPLACED BUT DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET NEW TIRES OR REPLACE THE HARNESS. I HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF TRACTION AND THE NOISE AND VIBRATION ARE SO BAD NOW THAT I CAN HARDLY DRIVE THE CAR. THESE BOTH APPEAR TO BE ENGINEERING ISSUES THAT AFFECT SAFETY OF THE HONDA CIVIC AND RECALLS SHOULD BE ISSUED TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS. *TR
I HAVE OWNED A HONDA CIVIC FOR AT LEAST 2 YEAR MAYBE MORES. ITS A 2007 MODEL. I HAD BEEN LIVING IN CHICAGO (HAD MOVED THERE) SINCE THE END OF 2008 (DECEMBER TO BE EXACT-MAKING IT ALMOST THE BEGINNING OF JANUARY 2009. I LIVED THERE TILL APRIL 2010. WE THEN MOVED BACK TO TEXAS. I HAD NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE VISOR UNTIL A MONTH AND A HALF LATER BEFORE MY GIRLFRIENDS AND I LEFT FOR A TRIP TO DALLAS. THE VISOR REFUSED TO STAY UP. I HAVE NOT HOWEVER HAD THE MONEY TO BUY A NEW ONE UNTIL L NOW. STILL I FIND THIS VERY RISKY AND VERY MUCH OF A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
HONDA CIVIC MODELS 2006 AND 2007 HAVE DEFECTIVE SUN VISORS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF REPORTED CASES ONLINE. TWICE IN THE PAST 14 MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WHEN MY SUN VISOR UNEXPECTEDLY SPLIT AT THE SEAM AND SUDDENLY FELL INTO MY LINE OF SIGHT. BOTH TIMES I WAS STARTLED AND MY VISION WAS OBSTRUCTED WHILE OPERATING THE CAR AT SPEEDS EXCEEDING 60 MPH. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT BOTH TIMES. I AM ON MY 3RD VISOR, BUT FEEL UNEASY BEHIND THE WHEEL, WORRIED IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN WAITING FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT, I AM FORCED TO DRIVE WITHOUT A FUNCTIONAL VISOR, AND HAVE BEEN TEMPORARILY BLINDED BY THE SUN ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I CALLED HONDA AND SPOKE WITH "MORRIS" WHO READILY ADMITTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT THAT THEY RECEIVE, BUT HONDA WAS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ON MY BEHALF SINCE MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I STILL HAVE THE LAST FAULTY SUN VISOR. *TR
THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH 2007 HONDA CIVICS, WHICH IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. THE SUN VISORS SPLIT IN HOT WEATHER, WHICH CAUSES THEM TO NO LONGER BE ADJUSTABLE TO BLOCK THE SUN WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHEN EXCEEDING THE SPEED RATE OF 35 MPH. THERE WAS A RELATED DEFECT ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL UNDER NHTSA 07V399000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK WHEEL SPEED SENSOR). THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE DEALER TO CONFIRM WHETHER THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

I WAS ENTERING A HWY FROM A COUNTRY ROAD AND FOUND MYSELF WITH NO POWER. THIS HAS REMAINED SO DESPITE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE NUMBER OF BARS SHOWING ON THE GAUGE WAS SIGNIFICANTLY FEWER, AND THERE WOULD BE WILD FLUCTUATIONS OF BARS. THERE HAS BEEN NO WARNING LIGHT. I'VE HAD SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEALER. MAILED AMERICAN HONDA A COMPLAINT, RESULTING IN A CALL FROM HONDA THAT SEEMED TO ME SIMPLY A WAY TO MOLLIFY. HONDA APPARENTLY DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM A "SAFETY" ISSUE. I BEG TO DIFFER. NOW I MUST ALWAYS BE AWARE THAT I DON'T HAVE POWER (THE COOLER WEATHER HAS GENERALLY SEEN A HIGHER NUMBER OF BARS), AND MILEAGE HAS DEFINITELY SUFFERED. I BOUGHT THE CAR TO BE A 10 YEAR, 300,000 MILE PRODUCT, WITH NO CONCERN FOR RESALE VALUE AT THE END. NOW I'M PARALYZED WITH THE PROSPECT OF POOR RESALE VALUE, PERHAPS UNABLE TO SELL PRIVATELY - RESTRICTED TO ONLY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME TO BUY A HONDA - BASED ON A REPUTATION FOR DURABILITY.
SUN VISOR BROKE. I PUT MY SUN VISOR DOWN TO BLOCK THE SUN COMING IN MY EYES, AND WHEN I WENT TO LIFT IT BACK UP, IT 'SNAPPED' AND WON'T GO BACK UP TO THE LOCKED UP RIGHT POSITION. I TOOK IT TO HONDA WHILE I HAD MY OIL CHANGE TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT, AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE 100 DOLLARS PLUS LABOR TO CHANGE IT. I REFUSED TO PAY FOR IT, AND HAVE SINCE LOOKED AND SEEN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME TYPE. MAYBE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR A THIRD OPINION. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS WERE DEFECTIVE WHICH WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPAIRED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORN TIRES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 WAS AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,623.
I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT. THE SUNVISORS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE COMPLETE JUNK. I ALREADY HAD THE OEM SUNVISORS REPLACED, AND NOW THE REPLACEMENTS HAVE BROKEN IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED LOW POWER ASSIST AND (WITHOUT CONFERRING WITH ME) REPROGRAMMED THE POWER ASSIST SOFTWARE AND PRONOUNCED IT FIXED. PURCHASED VEHICLE IN APRIL 2010 (APPROXIMATELY). I NOTICED CAR WAS SHUTTERING/JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING, MOST NOTABLY BETWEEN 1500 AND 1800 RPM FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD GEARS. DUE TO A CONTROL ARM RECALL, I WENT TO HONDA IN ORDER TO GET THIS FIXED AND PURCHASED MY OWN TIRES AT THE TIME SINCE THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT. UNFORTUNATELY, ABOUT 19,000 MILES LATER, AGAIN MY INSPECTION FAILED DUE TO THE TIRES. I HAD REPLACED IT AGAIN BUT AT THIS TIME HONDA WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING AND TOLD ME THAT IT IS PAST THE WARRANTY POINT AND IF I BRING IT IN AND THEY FIND THAT THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AS ITS NOT COVERED UNDER MY GENERAL WARRANTY. I DON'T GET THIS BECAUSE CLEARLY IT IS A MANUFACTURES RECALL AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS PLUS MY TIRES EVERY 19,000 MILES. I PURPOSELY CHOSE TO BUY A HONDA BECAUSE THEY ARE KNOWN TO BE ECONOMICAL AND RELIABLE. NONE OF WHICH MY '07 HONDA CIVIC EX HAS BEEN. I TRIED TAKING IT OUT WITH NEW TIRES DURING THE SNOW; BIGGEST MISTAKE. EVEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN IS A HAZARD. THIS SHOULD BE A HUGE WARNING FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN THE MARKET FOR A HONDA CIVIC. THESE CARS ARE NOT WORTH THE PRICE IF THE TIRES ARE NOT RELIABLE. TIRES ARE AN IMPORTANT SECTOR OF A CAR. THIS IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING AND I WOULD NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT TAKING THIS MATTER TO COURT. *TR
