TIRES SEVERELY WORN AND CUPPED, CAR HAS SERIOUS VIBRATION ASKED HONDA DEALER FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS REAR CONTROL ARM SO THE HONDA DEALER REPLACED IT I HAD TO PAY 1/3, THE DEALER PAID 1/3 AND HONDA PAID 1/3 OR SO I WAS TOLD AFTER MUCH BICKERING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID, I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY STREET. I WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO A BUSINESS. WHEN I WENT TO TURN, THE CAR WAS VERY SLUGGISH AND HAD WHAT APPEARED TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS ACCELERATION THAN NORMAL. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE CAR'S COMPUTER RECALIBRATING THE BATTERY. THIS RECALIBRATING STARTED HAPPENING AFTER A SOFTWARE UPDATE. IT HAPPENS EVERY FEW DAYS AND THERE IS NO WARNING. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE COMPUTER ARTIFICIALLY LOWER THE CHARGE STATE FORCING THE CAR TO GO INTO REGENERATION STATE TO FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERS. EVEN THOUGH THE BATTER IS NOT REALLY EMPTY, SINCE THE COMPUTER SET THE BATTERY LEVEL TO BE EMPTY, THE ELECTRIC MOTOR IS NO LONGER USED. THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING TONE OR SOMETHING TO INDICATE THAT THERE WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA DID THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE TO MAKE THE BATTERIES SEEM TO LAST LONGER, BUT IT'S REALLY LESS SAFE! IT'S ALSO CAUSED MY MILEAGE TO GO DOWN BY ABOUT 10% BUT I REALIZE THAT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
AT 59,361 MILES THE CAR STARTED LEAKING COOLANT WHILE I WAS ON A TRIP TO CALIFORNIA. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. IT HAD A CRACKED BLOCK. HONDA REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK AND RESURFACED THE HEAD UNDER WARRANTY. NO LOANER CAR OR OFFER TO SUPPLY RENTAL. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR CRACKED AND FELL APART. VISOR WILL NOT FALL SUDDENLY AND OBSTRUCT MY VIEW. *TR
VEHICLE IS ON 3RD SET OF TIRES AT 54,000 MILES. THROUGH SEARCH, LOCATED HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN DATE 01/22/2008 THAT RECTIFIES THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, FIRST SET OF ORIGINAL TURANZAS LASTED 22,000 MILES AND BRIDGESTONE BLAMED HONDA. 2ND SET LASTED JUST 30,000 MILES. HONDA CHARGED $32 TO REPAIR PROBLEM, BUT SHOULD HAVE REPORTED TO CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN. CUSTOMER IS OUT THE COST OF TIRES (APPROX. $400). *TR
2007 HONDA CIVICS EAT UP TIRES. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION OF THE CAR THAT CAUSES THE TIRES TO WEAR AT UNEVENLY AND DANGEROUSLY QUICK. WE ONLY GET 1/3 OF THE WARRANTY LIFE OF TIRES AND WHEN WE REPLACE THE TECHNICIANS TELL US THE TIRES ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON. THEY ARE WORN UNEVENLY, BLISTERED ON THE INSIDE SO MUCH THAT WIRES ARE STICKING THROUGH. THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WITH THE CONTACT'S FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AS IF THE ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER OFFERED TO COVER 50% OF THE REPAIR EXPENSES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,331.
SUN VISOR ATTACHMENT FAILS (THE VISOR SPLITS APART) AND FALLS INTO LINE OF SIGHT. THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. REPLACEMENT VISORS DO THE SAME THING. I HAVE HAD THE VISOR REPLACED 3 TIMES. *TR
2007 CIVIC SI IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR AND GRINDS. TWO ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BY DEALER, BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER EACH REPAIR. PROBLEM STARTED AT AROUND 8K MILES, WAS REPAIRED THEN IT RECURRED AT AROUND 15K MILES. THE ODOMETER IS NOW AT 23K MILES AND THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED. THE FIRST REPAIR ATTEMPT REPLACED THE 3RD GEAR SYNCRO. THE 2ND REPAIR REPLACE THE 3RD & 4TH GEAR SYNCRO AND SHIFT FORK. I RECOMMEND HONDA ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE 6SP MANUAL TRANSMISSION ON THE CIVIC SI DUE TO NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX. TODAY I TOOK IT TO MEINIKE TO GET MY OIL CHANGE AND TIRES ROTATED. THERE WAS NO TREAD LEFT ON THE INNER TIRES. I'VE ROTATED MY TIRES EVERY 6K MILES AND NOW I'M AT 28K MILES. THE MECHANIC SAID I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW YOU MADE IT HERE. HE DIDN'T WANT TO PUT THEM BACK ON BECAUSE THEIR WORN TO THE CORE. THERE IS ALSO NO TREAD LEFT. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW, BUT WHEN I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. HONDA SAID THEY WOULDN'T PAY TO HAVE THE TIRES FIXED FROM THEIR DEFECT. *TR
AT LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC, THE BRAKES TOTALLY FAILED AND FELL OFF THE VEHICLE. THE FACT THAT I NEEDED BRAKE WORK WAS FIRST BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BY THE DEALER WHEN THEY DID SOME RECALL WORK ON THE CAR FOR ANOTHER ISSUE. WHILE I WAS RESEARCHING WHY THIS MAY BE HAPPENING AND TRYING TO GET SOME ANSWERS FROM THE MANUFACTURER THE BRAKES FAILED CAUSING MAJOR REPAIR BILLS, TIRE DAMAGE AND PAINT DAMAGE TO THE CAR. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO OPEN AND INVESTIGATION OR ENTERTAIN A COMPLAINT IN THE MATTER. THE DEALER WILL NOT HONOR REPAIRS UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I MISSED PAYMENTS AND RISKED REPOSSESSION DUE TO THE COST/DAMAGES. HAD THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. ALTHOUGH HONDA DENIES IT, THERE ARE OTHER CASES OF FAULTY BRAKES ON CIVIC AND ACCORD MODELS FROM 2006 TO PRESENT. *TR
ON THURS. OCT. 1 I DROVE TO WORK IN MY '07' HONDA CIVIC EX 4-DR WITH 48,900 MILES(APPROX) AND I STARTED HEARING A NOISE. THE CAR KEPT RUNNING PRETTY WELL THOUGH SO I CONTINUED THE 22 MILES TO MY OFFICE. WHEN I GOT THERE I WAS SMELLING BURNING RUBBER AND IT WAS MAKING QUITE A RACKET. I CALLED ROUSH HONDA IN WESTERVILLE, OHIO AND BROUGHT IT IN THAT AFTERNOON. I HAD TO RUN ON BACK ROADS INSTEAD OF THE FREEWAY BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID THAT IT WOULDN'T MAKE IT - I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE HAD IT TOWED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WATER PUMP PULLEY BROKE, RUINED THE WATER PUMP, TENSIONER AND BELT ETC. I HAVE A DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY THROUGH 100,000 MILES BUT NOT A PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN! I HAD AN OVERALL WARRANTY BUT I AM ABOUT 900 TO 1,000 MILES PAST. IT WILL COST $500.00 PLUS TO FIX. I GOT ON THE INTERNET AND THEN ON YOUR SITE AND I FIND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN # 08=039 (NHTSA # 10026791) ON BOLTS COMING LOOSE ON WATER PUMP PULLEYS AND DOING DAMAGE. I EVEN ASKED THE ROUSH SERVICE MAN WHEN HE CALLED TO TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS IF THESE DO THIS A LOT. HE SAID THAT THIS IS THE FIRST ONE THAT HE HAD EVER HEARD OF. DO YOU BELIEVE HIM? I SURE DON'T! WHAT CAN I DO? I AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF AUTO MAKERS BUILDING JUNK AND THEN NOT STANDING BEHIND IT. I BOUGHT CHRYSLERS FOR 30 YEARS AND GOT SICK OF THEIR GAMES AND SWITCHED TO HONDA TO GET AWAY FROM IT BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THEY PLAY THEM TOO. NOW ADMITTEDLY, NO INJURY OR PHYSICAL DAMAGE WAS CAUSED, BUT I AM SURE GLAD THAT THE PUMP DIDN'T FAIL COMPLETELY ON THE FREEWAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC, BOTH SUN VISORS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE PURCHASED THE CARE BRAND NEW MARCH 2007 - AND THIS WILL BE THE 4TH TIME GETTING THESE REPLACED, I HAVE CALLED HONDA'S 800 NUMBER TWICE AND THEY JUST KEEP TELLING ME I AM UNDER WARRANTY. WELL, WHAT HAPPENS IF THE THING BREAKS AGAIN WHILE I AM DRIVING AND GET INTO AN ACCIDENT? THIS IS AN ISSUE AND I HAVE TO DRIVE 60 MILES ROUND TRIP EVERY TIME I NEED THESE REPLACED. I THINK HONDA SHOULD LOOK INTO THESE VISORS - THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE - I LIVE IN FL AND USE MY VISORS EVERYDAY. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE THEM REPLACED 4 TIMES WITHIN 2 YEARS! *TR
I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE HYBRID BATTERIES DISCHARGE IN WARM WEATHER LEAVING THE CAR DANGEROUSLY UNDER-POWERED. THIS OCCURS SEVERAL TIMES PER DAY AND WHEN IT DOES THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH TO SAFELY MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, CHANGE LANES OR TURN BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT CAN BE VERY SCARY AT TIMES. INITIALLY THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURRED IN VERY HOT WEATHER BUT IS WORSENING AND NOW OCCURS ROUTINELY IN REGULAR WARM AIR ' MOST ANY TIME THE A/C IS USED. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BUT CAN ONLY SAY THAT HONDA CORPORATE IS AWARE AND INVESTIGATING. SAFETY DICTATES THAT THIS INVESTIGATION MOVE FASTER. *TR
RAPID TIRE WEAR OCCURRED ON THE INNER PORTIONS OF BOTH REAR TIRES. THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AFTER NOTICING MUCH ROAD NOISE AND HAVING THE TIRES ROTATED. TWO NEW TIRES WERE PURCHASED AND THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS TO THIS DAY AFTER CONSULTING TWO DIFFERENT HONDA GARAGES THEY BOTH CONFIRMED THAT THE REAR CONTROL ARMS WERE INSTALLED CORRECTLY AND ARE WITHIN SPEC. BOTH GARAGES RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE TIRES AGAIN, BUT THIS IS BECOMING VERY COSTLY. THE RIDE OF THE CAR OVER THE LAST YEAR HAS GOTTEN SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE AND NOW I'M NOTICING BRAKING PROBLEMS. THE CAR HOPS IN THE BACK WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HONDA IS DENYING THE PROBLEM AND HAS OFFERED NO COMPENSATION. *TR
WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE TURNED OFF, THEY INTERMITTENTLY DO NOT STOP (PARK) AT THE CORRECT LOCATION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD OR THEY CONTINUE TO RUN. *TR
I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC, I HAVE REPLACED 2 SUN VISORS SO FAR AND TODAY THE DRIVER SIDE BROKE AND THE PASSENGERS IS ABOUT TO FAIL DUE TO THE NOISE IT MAKES, I SAW THE VERY PROBLEMS ON U-TUBES, THAT IS MY PROBLEM. THE SUN VISORS IN MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC ARE DEFECTIVE. THE PLASTIC INSIDE THE VISOR WEAKENS AND BREAKS IN THE HEAT, AND THE VISOR NO LONGER STAYS IN PLACE. IT CAN DROP INTO THE DRIVER'S LINE OF VISION AT ANY TIME, POSING A HAZARD FOR VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING. IT CAN NO LONGER BE USED TO BLOCK THE SUN, SO VISIBILITY IS REDUCED WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN AS WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR BECAME FRACTURED AND IT IMPAIRED HER VISION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE SUN VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,894.
1. I DRIVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX COUPE. MY CAR WAS PERFECTLY FINE. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY CRUISING ALONG, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND SUDDENLY, OUT OF NOWHERE, MY REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE. 2. MY REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON, IT SNAPPED IN HALF BECAUSE THE PARTS MADE TO ASSEMBLE THEM WERE MADE FROM LOWER QUALITY MATERIAL. THE QUALITY OF MATERIAL USED TO PUT TOGETHER THE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. WHOEVER THOUGHT OF USING THAT PARTICULAR MATERIAL FOR A REAR CONTROL ARM IN A VEHICLE SHOULD DEFINITELY HAVE CHARGES PRESSED AGAINST HIM FOR ATTEMPTED MANSLAUGHTER. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ON THE ROAD, AND THE PIECE JUST SNAPPED. THIS IS DEFINITELY DUE TO A LACK OF COMMITMENT TO USE QUALITY MATERIAL ON THE REAR CONTROL ARM. THIS WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. WHEN A REAR CONTROL ARM BREAKS BECAUSE OF FAULTY MATERIAL, SCIENTIFICALLY, WHAT HAPPENS 99.999999% OF THE TIME IS THE WHEEL FLIES OFF, THE DRIVER LOSES COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE CAR, THE CAR SPINS A FEW TIMES, THE CAR GETS HIT BY A FEW OTHER CARS, THE CAR FLIPS OVER A FEW TIMES, AND THE DRIVER IS LEFT DEAD. HOW I DID NOT FALL INTO THAT SCIENTIFIC CALCULATION IS NOTHING LESS THAN AN ACT OF GOD. IF I DROVE ONE MORE MILE, THIS WOULD'VE PROBABLY OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, I DID NOT CRASH. THIS HAS BEEN AN EXPERIENCE THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY TRAUMATIC TO MYSELF, AND I AM IN COMPLETE FEAR OF DRIVING ANY HONDA NOW. I HAVEN'T HAD THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE PARTS ON MY VEHICLE, BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS PARTICULAR PIECE OF THE CAR SHOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN IN A RECALL. 3. NOTHING HAS BEEN TO CORRECT THE FAILURE AS OF YET. THE CAR IS SITTING IN A SHOP, BUT I AM WITHOUT THE BUDGET TO FIX THE FAULTY PIECES THAT ALMOST KILLED ME. *TR
POPPING NOISE WHILE TURNING AT 5,268 MILES. REPLACED TWO TIRES AT 19,785 MILES. NEED A FRONT END AXLE REPLACEMENT AT 31,839. DIAGNOSED AND ADJUSTED TORQUED REAR SUSPENSION NOISE AT 60,136. REPLACED REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS 61,275. REPLACED SHOCKS, AND CV BOOTS AT 61,275. STRUTS WERE MAKING NOISE DUE TO CUPPING. STRUTS WERE REPLACED AT 61,275. TWO NEW TIRES THAT WERE RECENTLY REPLACED WERE REPLACED AGAIN. BOTH TIRES WERE FEATHERED AND MAKING NOISE. VEHICLE IS MAINTAINED IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS FOLLOWING THE MANUFACTURER'S MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATION. CAR WAS ALIGNED AS REQUIRED BY MANUFACTURER. HOWEVER, CUPPING OR FEATHERING OF THE TIRES STILL HAPPENED. WHEN THE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS NOT REPLACED YET, THE REAR NOISE WAS SO LOUD AND DRIVING WAS BAD. THE TIRES FELT FLAT AND THE SHOCK ABSORBER DID NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING. IT IS VERY HARD TO DEAL WITH BOTH HONDA AMERICA AND KOLBE DEALER. BOTH COMPANIES TRIED TO PLAY IGNORANT OF THE ISSUES ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW IT ALL ALONG. I SPENT $1,419.11 FOR PREMATURE EXPENSES. AMERICAN HONDA BLAMED THE PREMATURE DAMAGES TO ME. AMERICAN HONDA NOR KOLBE HONDA DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE TECHNICAL BULLETINS THAT WERE ISSUED. ALSO, JUST BECAUSE THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN OR CORRECTIVE ACTION DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. DESIGN OF THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM MUST BE REVIEWED AGAIN AND TESTED FOR GEOMETRY WITH OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE. HONDA AMERICA SHOULD TIGHTENED ITS QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE SO THAT ITS MANUFACTURING FACILITY WILL NOT RELEASE CARS THAT HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS. HONDA KNEW VERY WELL THAT THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS HAVE DESIGN FLAWED STARTING WITH 2002 HONDA CIVIC. WHY ARE THEY STILL USING THIS DESIGN? IS IT BECAUSE THEY MANUFACTURED SO MUCH OF THE WRONG PARTS? THE BATTERY, AND WATER PUMP PULLEY WERE REPLACED, UPDATED 07/16/12
HONDA CIVIC SUN VISORS, SPLIT, BREAK AND LOSE THEIR ABILITY TO STAY FIXED WHILE DRIVING. I'M IN NEED IN REPLACING MY 3RD SUN VISOR. THE VISORS ON THE HONDA CIVIC DROPS AND OBSTRUCTS A CLEAR VIEW WHEN DRIVING AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. HONDA DEALERS TELL CONSUMERS THAT IT'S DUE TO HEAT IN THE AREA WHERE I LIVE, BUT THERE ARE MANY WEBSITES LISTING COMPLAINTS FROM WITH OTHER HONDA OWNERS WHO LIVE IN AN AREAS WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES. REGARDLESS OF WHERE ONE RESIDES, I AM UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR WITH FEAR THAT THE VISOR WILL DROP WITHOUT WARNING, STARTLE ME AND OBSTRUCT MY VIEW. HOW DOES ONE GET THROUGH TO THE HONDA MANUFACTURER THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT MUST BE RESOLVED, NOT JUST REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID - THE OEM REAR SUSPENSION GEOMETRY WEARS THE INNER EDGE OF THE TIRES EXTREMELY QUICKLY. HONDA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN (08-001) IDENTIFYING AND CORRECTING THE PROBLEM WITH REPLACEMENT UPPER CONTROL ARMS. THE DEALER/HONDA REFUSES TO COVER PARTS/LABOR CHARGES FOR CORRECTION ON A CAR THAT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN DEFECT THAT IMPACTS SAFETY AND I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD CORRECT IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
THE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN IN MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE IT UP INTO THE PROPER CLOSED POSITION, BUT SINCE I PARK IN THE SUN, AND NEED TO USE A SUN SHADE, I NEED TO PUT DOWN THE SUN SHADE, THEN MUSCLE IT BACK INTO THE CLOSED POSITION AGAIN. THIS MORNING AS I PUT DOWN THE SHADE, I HEARD A LOUD CRACKING SOUND, AND SAW THAT THE SHADE IS FALLING APART NOW, WITH BROKEN PIECES OF PLASTIC NOW FALLING OUT OF THE SHADE. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE REPORTED. I HAVE A 100 MILE COMMUTE TO WORK, SO THE CAR WAS LONG OUT OF WARRANTY WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED, BASED ON MILEAGE, AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AT MY COST, SO I WILL HAVE TO ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT MYSELF, AS THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL INITIATED BY HONDA FOR THIS EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE. *TR

MY 2006 CIVIC HYBRID SEDAN HAS HAD 4 SETS OF SUN VISORS PUT IN IT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SUN VISORS BREAK INTERNALLY AND WILL NOT GO ALL THE WAY UP OR DOWN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VISORS HANG DOWN ABOUT THREE INCHES FROM THE FRONT ROOF LINE RIGHT IN THE DRIVERS FIELD OF VIEW. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING GASOLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT A COST OF $640.00. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL THE REPAIR WILL REMEDY THE FAILURE SINCE THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE FAILED COMPONENT WITH A PLASTIC FUEL TANK WITHOUT A GUARD TO PROTECT THE FUEL TANK FROM ROAD DEBRIS OR RECURRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,010.

CAR MODEL: HONDA CIVIC HYBRID 2007 THE CAR HAS A SLIPPING BRAKE. WHEN PULLING UP TO A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN THE BRAKE CAN AND FREQUENTLY DOES SUDDENLY LET GO. WHEN LESS THAN FULL FORCE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE ENGAGES NORMALLY. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR NEARS A FULL STOP THE BRAKE SUDDENLY LETS GO. THIS CAN BE COMPENSATED FOR BY APPLYING ADDITIONAL BRAKE FORCE, BUT THE SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING CAN BE STARTLING AND DISORIENTING. THE DEFECT HAPPENS ALMOST CONSISTENTLY UNDER THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE, NAMELY LESS THAN FULL BRAKING FORCE. I PERSONALLY BECAME ACCUSTOMED TO THE QUIRK. HOWEVER, MY WIFE HAS CLAIMED THAT THE DEFECT NEARLY CAUSED HER TO REAR END ANOTHER CAR AND HAS SINCE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *JB
MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI APPEARS TO WEAR OUT REAR TIRES FASTER THAN FRONT TIRES. THE CAR IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. THE REAR SUSPENSION / UPPER REAR CONTROL ARMS ARE DEFECTIVE LEADING TO EXCESSIVE NEGATIVE REAR CAMBER. THIS CAUSED RAPID TIRE WEAR TO THE INSIDE EDGES AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE IN WET CONDITIONS. HONDA HAS ISSUED A TSB (08-001) THAT COVERS THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER THEY HAVE EXCLUDED THE SI MODEL IN THEIR TSB. I REQUESTED AND RECEIVED AND PARTS DIAGRAM SHOWING THE FAULTY UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON THE CARS COVERED BY TSB 08-001 CARRY THE EXACT SAME PART NUMBER AS THOSE ON THE SI MODEL THAT IS EXCLUDED. LATER YEAR MODEL SI CARS HAVE A NEW DESIGN UPPER CONTROL ARM TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. MY DEALER SAID THAT HONDA WILL NOT COVER MY CAR UNDER THIS TSB ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM AND PARTS ARE IDENTICAL. *TR

SERVICE BULLETIN# 08-0001 DATED FEBRUARY 2009 IS RELATED TO THE REAR SUSPENSION AND DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE BULLETIN ALSO INDICATED THAT THE DEALER HAD TO INSTALL A REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM KIT, REPLACE THE FAN BOLTS AND THE WORN TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,098. THE DEALER REPLACED THE UPPER CONTROL ARM KIT, BUT WHEN THE CONSUMER ASKED THE DEALER IF A 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT HAD BEEN DONE, THEIR REPLY WAS THE TIRES WERE SO BADLY WORN AND ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE PERFORMED UNLESS TWO TIRES WERE PURCHASED FOR THE REAR. THE CONSUMER STATED HE SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS FOR THE REAR AXLE CAUSED BY THE BADLY WORN TIRES. THE SERVICE BULLETIN STATED THE WORN TIRES WERE TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH OTHER PARTS. THE MANNER IN WHICH THE TIRE REPLACEMENT WAS HANDLED BY THE DEALER GAVE THE CONTACT ONLY TWO OPTIONS; DRIVE AWAY IN A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE WITHOUT COMPLETION OF THE WORK OR PAY WHATEVER THE DEALER ASKED FOR THE TIRES SO THE WORK SPECIFIED BY THE SERVICE BULLETIN COULD BE COMPLETED. WITH LIMITED OPTIONS, THE CONSUMER PAID FOR NEW TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED ON SEPT 21, 2009 VIA PRIORITY MAIL. UPDATED 10/22/09 *BF
