ALL 2006-2008 HONDA CIVIC SI (COUPE & SEDAN) MODELS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED ANY ISSUES RELATED TO THE 6MT, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, (A) NOTCHY SHIFTING (B) RESISTANCE GOING INTO ANY GEAR (PARTICULARLY 2ND & 3RD) (C) GRINDING OF ANY TYPE, IN ANY GEAR NOT CAUSED BY OPERATOR ERROR (D) TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING INTO ANY GEAR (PARTICULARLY 2ND & 3RD) (E) TRANSMISSION KICKING OUT/POPPING OUT INTO NEUTRAL FROM 3RD GEAR (F) A THIRD GEAR WITH AN IMPRECISE GATE THAT SOMETIMES ALLOWS FOR THE SHIFTER TO BE UNSURE WHETHER TO ENGAGE IN 3RD OR RETURN TO NEUTRAL. (G) HAD YOUR TRANSMISSION/SYNCROS REPLACED AND ARE EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION WOES AGAIN WITH THE SAME (OR OTHER) GEARS. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC VISORS (DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDES) BREAK WHEN IT GETS HOT AND THEY FLOP DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY INTERFERING WITH THE DRIVERS LINE OF SIGHT. THIS IS THE CAR MY DAUGHTER DRIVES AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE HONDA IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I LIVE IN ARIZONA AND THE VISOR CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT. I HAVE HAD BOTH VISORS REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THEY ARE BROKEN AGAIN. ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS INCONVENIENCE, I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE YET THE KEEP PUTTING IN THE SAME DEFECTIVE VISORS. *TR

H2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. BATTERY HAS FAILED AND CAR DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MERGE ONTO FREEWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING UNDER 20 MPH THE VEHICLE MADE A RATTLING SOUND ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE FRONT AXLE BUT THAT HAS NOT REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE NOISE WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOMETHING WAS VERY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND FEARS THAT A CRASH COULD OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
2007 HONDA CIVIC ~18,000 MILES. AIR CONDITIONER FAILED DUE TO "DAMAGE TO THE CONDENSER BY ROAD DEBRIS" THOUGH CAR IS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, HONDA WILL NOT COVER THIS REPAIR, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT IS A FREQUENTLY REPORTED PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH A DESIGN DEFECT OF THE CAR. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR IN MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HAS SPLIT AT THE SEAM TWICE, AND I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED BY MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER BOTH TIMES. IT STARTS TO SPLIT SLOWLY, BUT WITH EACH USE GETS GRADUALLY WORSE UNTIL IT JUST HANGS LIMPLY, OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. THE 2ND TIME IT WAS REPLACED, HONDA SAID I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD NOT FULLY PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART (THIS WAS IN THE SPAN OF APPROX. 1 YEAR). WHEN THE VISOR WAS BROKEN, I HAD SEVERAL NEAR-WRECKS DUE TO THE VISOR BEING DIRECTLY IN MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE AS A DRIVER, YOU EITHER HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT THE SUN WILL BE IN YOUR EYES AND WILL BLOCK YOUR VIEW OR THE VISOR WILL BE IN YOUR WAY AND OBSTRUCT YOUR VIEW. THIS IS AN EVERY-DAY OCCURRENCE, AS A VISOR IS USED ALMOST DAILY. THE SECOND TIME I HAD IT REPLACED, I TOOK A BINDER CLIP (FOUND AT ANY OFFICE SUPPLY STORE) AND CLIPPED IT OVER THE SEAM TO KEEP IT HELD TOGETHER. I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM OF THE SEAM SPLITTING SINCE I HAVE PUT THE CLIP THERE, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING, AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HOLD MY 2007 VEHICLE TOGETHER WITH A PAPER CLIP. *TR
UNEVEN REAR TIRE WEAR CAUSED BY DEFECT IN REAR CONTROL ARMS. ARMS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOT TIRES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OTHER OWNERS OF THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL HAVE EXPERIENCED THE ENGINE STALLING BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT TAKEN ANY STEPS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
2007 HONDA CIVIC EX: UNEVEN TIRE WARE CAUSED BY REAR FIXED UPPER CONTROL ARMS. THE ALIGNMENT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED. THE PROBLEM SHOWS UP WITH A ROARING NOISE FROM THE REAR TIRES. IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED, THEN SEVER TIRE DAMAGE MAY DEVELOP CAUSING A TIRE FAILURE, ACCIDENTS, PROPERTY DAMAGE, TETC. *TR

THE HONDA MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE UPPER ARM CONTROL FOR FREE IF THE CONTACT PAYS FOR NEW TIRES. WHILE DRIVING OVER 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATES VIOLENTLY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR ON OUR 2007 HONDA SEDAN EXPLODED AND FLOPPED DOWN IN OUR FACE, WHICH CREATES A HAZARD WHEN DRIVING. *TR
I GOT THE CAR FROM MY GRANDFATHER AND IT HAD ABOUT 20000 MILES ON IT, AFTER ABOUT PUTTING 6000 MILES ON IT MYSELF I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND I ALWAYS NOTICED THE CAR WAS LOUD WHILE DRIVING AND JUST FIGURED IT WAS NORMAL AND I GUESS I GOT USED TO IT ALTHOUGH ANYONE WHO RODE IN IT WOULD MENTION THE LOAD NOISE(LIKE HAVING MUD TIRES ON IT). WELL AFTER ABOUT 5 SETS OF TIRES(THE CAR NOW HAS 120,000 MILES) I JUST NOW (2013) STARTED LOOKING INTO WHY THE CAR HAS A LOUD NOISE AND CAME ACROSS THE SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUE INVOLVING THE REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. I CALLED CORPORATE HONDA AND THEY ADMITTED THEY HAD DEFECTIVE PARTS ON THE CIVICS AND SAID I WAITED TOO LATE TO COMPLAIN!??? I EVEN TOLD HER I DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE $ I WAS OUT ON ALL THE TIRE SETS I JUST WANTED THE ISSUE FIXED BY THEM. SHE ACTUALLY TOLD ME IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO GO TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND READ THE SERVICE BULLETINS AND IT WAS MY FAULT THAT I AM HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS HAS TO BE LEGALLY TAKEN CARE OF! *TR
I HAVE A 07' CIVIC SI SEDAN. I HAD TO REPLACE MY REAR TIRES AS WELL. I TRIED TO HAVE THE REAR ALIGNMENT DONE, BUT THE REAR CONTROL ARM WERE OUT AND ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE DEALER STATED THERE IS A PROBLEM W/ THE ARMS BUT IT DID NOT COME OUT INCLUDING THE SI, ONLY THE LX & EX. I HOPE IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY INCLUDE THE SI. IT IS THE SAME PART #. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID VERY UNSTABLE ON ICY ROAD CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN CYCLING BETWEEN ELECTRIC MOTOR, GAS ENGINE AND COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF. IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IF I DID NOT PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL THE CAR WOULD LURCH AND LOSE TRACTION WHEN CYCLING THROUGH DRIVE SYSTEMS. AS A SIDE BAR I HAD 4 NEW TIRES INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE ON JANUARY 14, 2009. 12 DAY PRIOR TO THE ICY ROAD CONDITIONS. HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
3RD GEAR POPS OUT DURING NORMAL DRIVING OPERATIONS. THE GEAR POPS OUT REGARDLESS OF RPM, SPEED OF TRAVEL, OR IF THE GEAR IS ACTUALLY PUSHED IN ALL THE WAY. *TR

I BOUGHT A 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX COUPE IN AUGUST 2007. I NOTICED A LOUD VIBRATION/THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR AT AROUND 15K MILES. I KEPT AN EYE OUT AND DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I AM NOW AT 25K MILES AND I JUST HAD TO GET MY TWO REAR TIRES REPLACED DUE TO SEVER CUPPING AND UNEVEN TREAD WEAR ON THE TIRES. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 CIVICS IN REGARDS TO UNEVEN OR RAPID REAR TIRE WEAR AND ALSO FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM HONDA ADMITTING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS. I REALIZE THAT THE FACTORY TIRES THAT ARE PUT ON NEW CARS ARE NOT THE BEST TIRES BUT THEY SHOULD NOT BE SO SEVERELY CUPPED AND WORN AT 25K MILES. I SPENT $400 ON TWO NEW TIRES THIS PAST WEEKEND AND I AM AFRAID AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIRES AGAIN AFTER ANOTHER 20-25K MILES IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. I BELIEVE IT IS HONDA'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT IS ALSO EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING ON TIRES THAT ARE SEVERELY CUPPED AND UNEVEN. EXCESSIVE VIBRATION WHERE IT FEELS LIKE THE BACK END OF THE CAR IS JUMPING UP AND DOWN. ALSO HAS EXTREMELY LOUD TIRE NOISE. TIRES HAVE EXCESSIVE WEAR. DEALER SAID I JUST NEED NEW TIRES, AND WHEN SEARCHING FOR NEW TIRES ON INTERNET, I DISCOVERED THAT OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE BACK TIRES ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC WENT PREMATURELY BALD AND MY FAMILY WAS ALMOST KILLED ON A WET MOUNTAIN ROAD. THE BACK TIRES ONLY LAST 15,000 MILES ON THE NEWER CIVICS AND HONDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS. *TR
I WAS EXPERIENCING LOUD ROAD NOISE FROM THE TRUNK AREA AS WELL AS UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON BOTH REAR TIRES. THIS VEHICLE HAS 36250 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE AND TIRE WEAR. THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A ROOT CAUSE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FOUND THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE CIVIC, BUT THEY HAVE NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS OF THE POTENTIAL FOR HIGH-COST REPAIRS AND NEW TIRES. *TR
EXTREMELY SEVERE TIRE WARE ON REAR TIRES OF 2007 HONDA CIVIC, 12,000 MILES AND THE REAR TIRES ARE WORN TO THE BELTS ON INSIDE EDGE. REAR ALIGNMENT APPEARS TO BE WRONG FROM THE FACTORY. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY AMERICAN HONDA THAT THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE REAR CONTROL ARMS. *TR
I PURCHASED A SLIGHTLY USED CIVIC FROM A DEALER IN JANUARY OF 2009 AND BEGAN TO DRIVE IT ON ICY ROADS IN ONTARIO WINTER. MY WIFE WHO USUALLY DRIVES THE CAR COMPLAINED SHE WAS SCARED TO DRIVE IT IF THERE WAS ANY ICE ON THE ROAD SURFACE BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY SHIFT POSITION SIDEWAYS IN THE LANE. I FOUND THE REAR TIRES WORN OUT VERY FAST ON THE INSIDE OF BOTH WHEELS. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT HONDA HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE THE REAR UPPER STRUTS WITH A LONGER UNIT. THE DEALER DID NOT DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT AFTER I BROUGHT IT UP VOLUNTEERED TO REPLACE THEM AND NEGOTIATED WITH ME FOR HALF THE REPLACEMENT COST OF THE TIRES. I THOUGHT THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT SET OF REAR TIRES ALSO WORE PREMATURELY ON THE INSIDE IN ABOUT 25000 MILES. WHEN I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER HE TOLD ME I NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. I PAID FOR AN ALIGNMENT AT AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND WAS TOLD THE REAL WHEELS COULD NOT B ADJUSTED TO CORRECT THE NEGATIVE CAMBER. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT HONDA DID NOT RECOGNIZE THIS DEFECT AND THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER ANY REMEDY. HE DID A FREE REALIGNMENT FOR ME WITH DIFFICULTY AND SAID TO ROTATE MY TIRES MORE OFTEN. I TRIED THAT AND MY NEXT SET OF TIRES WORE OUT ON THE INSIDE JUST THE SAME. THE DEALER DID SAY THERE WAS AN AFTERMARKET PART THAT MAY CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE INSTALLATION ($600). I HAVE ABOUT 180000 KILOMETERS ON THE VEHICLE.THE VEHICLE MAKES REAR NOISE AND THE VIBRATION CANNOT BE GOOD FOR THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE CONTROL ARMS ON MY VEHICLE ARE DEFECTIVE AND WERE PART OF A SERVICE ADVISEMENT. THE ISSUE IS CAUSING EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR AND TIRE CUPPING. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH HAS THE HIGH POTENTIAL TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND INJURIES. I AM REPLACING MY TIRES FREQUENTLY DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR. I AM ANGRY THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED DUE TO THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS MATTER. I WILL NOT LET MY TEENAGERS DRIVE THIS CAR, AND AM IN FACT RELUCTANT TO DRIVE IT MYSELF (I WORK FROM HOME THANK GOODNESS).I AM SURPRISED A RECALL SIMILAR TO THE FORD FIRESTONE HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. AT LESS THAN 50K MILES ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED ACTING ERRATIC. THEY WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE CONTROL, AS IN THEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION, THE DELAY FUNCTION WAS NOT WORKING, AND WOULD NOT TURN ON SOMETIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THERE WERE TIMES WHEN I COULD NOT SEE DUE TO RAIN, AND THE WIPERS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND ALSO WHEN I COULD NOT CLEAN THE DIRT, SALT AND OTHER ROAD GUNK OFF THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT WORK. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHARGED ME HUNDRED OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY, WHEN THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
GOT INTO THE CAR ONE NIGHT IN THE WINTER OF 2009, AND THE HEADLAMPS WOULD NOT OPERATE. *TR
A SUDDEN COLLAPSE OF THE REAR WINDOW THE REAR WINDOW COLLAPSED UPON ITSELF FOR NO APPARENT REASON, FILLING THE BACK SEAT WITH SHARP SHARDS OF GLASS. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE DAY WAS CLEAR AND BRIGHT, AND I WAS STANDING RIGHT BEHIND THE CAR WHEN THE REAR WINDOW STARTED TO COLLAPSE UPON ITSELF. I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO A BABY RESTRAINED IN THE BACK SEAT IF SUCH A GLASS SHOWER LANDED ON IT WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE REAR WINDOW REPLACED AT MY OWN COST. MY EFFORTS TO HAVE THE MANUFACTURER REIMBURSE ME UNDER THE CAR WARRANTY FAILED. *TR
MY 2007 CIVIC EX COUPE CURRENTLY HAS A MILEAGE OF 66,000 AND I'M HAVING MY FOURTH SET OF TIRES INSTALLED TODAY, ALL OF WHICH WERE PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND ROTATED. I'VE HAD 2 HIGHWAY-SPEED BLOWOUTS IN THE LAST YEAR, AND SOMEHOW MANAGED TO AVOID SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BOTH TIMES. ALL OF THIS IS ON TOP OF THE RIDICULOUSLY LOUD ROAD NOISE GENERATED BY THIS ISSUE. THE INSIDE RIM OF BOTH REAR TIRES WEAR EXCESSIVELY FAST. I WAS UNAWARE OF ANY MANUFACTURING ISSUE AS HONDA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY PEOPLE HAVE TO START DYING IN SUFFICIENT NUMBERS BEFORE HONDA WILL FIX THIS ISSUE WITH A RECALL.*CW *TR
THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE CAR, ALL OVER THE CAR WHICH ISN'T NORMAL...IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND LOOKS TERRIBLE
2007 CIVIC SI SEDAN W/ PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM: ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, AND THE RADIO IS TURNED, ALL SPEAKERS EMIT A BUZZING SOUND, WHETHER THE VOLUME OF THE RADIO IS ALL THE WAY DOWN OR CASUALLY LISTENING. YOU CAN HEAR THE BUZZING SOUND AND IT ITS VERY UNPLEASANT. IT OCCURS ALL THE TIME THE CAR IS ON AND DRIVING, OR IDLING. WHEN TO DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE HONDA HAS NOT RELEASED A TSB FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, A LOUD WHINING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE CENTER THREE DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE SIMILAR FAILURE WHERE THE REPLACEMENT OF BOTH REAR TIRES WAS PERFORMED EACH TIME. THE TIRES DEFECT WAS DUE TO PREMATURE WEAR WHICH WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAULTY REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 36600 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE 3RD GEAR SYNCRO ISSUE SINCE SUMMER 2008 (I BOUGHT THE CAR 2/2/08. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN THE OTHER DAY TO HAVE THEM ADDRESS THE 3RD GEAR SYNCRO ISSUE AFTER THEY TOOK THE CAR APART THEY TOLD ME MY CLUTCH PLATE WAS SEVERELY WARN DOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I ASKED THEM IF THIS WAS CAUSED FROM THE 3RD SYNCHRO AND I WAS TOLD "NO" BUT I HAVE BEEN READING THAT IT IS A DIRECT RESULT. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH HONDA AND THEY NEED TO INCLUDE ALL THE GEARS SYNCHROS AND THE CLUTCH IN THE TSB. ALSO THE TIRES WEAR ON INSIDE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SI WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TSB BECAUSE IT HAS A DIFFERENT SUSPENSION. *TR
CAR: HONDA 2007 CIVIC SI COMPLAINT: CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN NORMALLY. EXCESSIVE INNER TIRE WEAR ON REAR WHEELS EATS TIRES TO THE THREADS. TIRE MUST BE INSPECTED CLOSELY SINCE MOST OF IT WILL APPEAR WITH PLENTY OF TREAD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HONDA HAS ALREADY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON MANY 2006/2007 CIVIC (BUT THIS EXCLUDES THE SI). THE PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL ON THE SI BUT HONDA WILL NOT COVER IT AS A DEFECT. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2007 CIVIC SI. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS THAT HONDA HAS (1) KNOWINGLY PUT IN FAULTY (SUSPENSION PARTS) UPPER CONTROL ARMS IN THE FRONT & BACK OF THE HONDA CIVIC, (2) FAILED TO INFORM CUSTOMERS OF THE PROBLEM (A RECALL IS NEEDED), (3) FAILED TO PROPERLY REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS FOR THE TIRE DAMAGE DUE TO THE FAULTY CONTROL ARMS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLES. I BOUGHT MY HONDA CIVIC USED AT AROUND 13K MILES. SINCE THEN, I'VE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT EVERY MONTH. DESPITE THIS MY TIRES BECAME EXCESSIVELY WORN AT 27K. I WENT TO TWO HONDA SERVICE STORES (MISSION VALLEY & PACIFIC HONDA IN SAN DIEGO) TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE NEED FOR ALIGNMENTS, ROAD NOISE, & TIRE WEAR. THEY KNOWINGLY WITHHELD INFORMATION & FAILED TO INFORM ME OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 SINCE THEY WOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS (A WARRANTY ITEM) THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE. IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN, HONDA INFORMS THE DEALERS OF COMMON COMPLAINTS RELATED TO TIRE WEAR & SUSPENSION & ADVISES THEM TO REPLACE THE REAR CONTROL ARMS ON THE HONDA CIVIC. HONDA ALSO WILL REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS PRO-RATA FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT IF THEY HAVE LESS THAN 25K IN MILEAGE. IF HADN'T HAVE DONE MY OWN RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS SERVICE BULLETIN. I TOOK MY CAR IN AROUND 26K SO THAT THEY COULD REPLACE MY REAR CONTROL ARMS. THEY DID THIS FOR FREE BUT SAID I DIDN'T QUALIFY TO GET MY TIRES REPLACED SINCE I WAS OVER THE 25K THRESHOLD. IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THE BULLETIN, I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET MY TIRES REPLACEMENT BY HONDA EARLIER. IT WAS THEIR FAULTY PARTS THAT LED MY TIRES TO WEAR EXCESSIVELY IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAD TO SHELL OUT $650 TO REPLACE MY TIRES AT AROUND 26K MILES. I'VE PROBABLY SPENT $500 DOLLARS IN ALIGNMENTS BECAUSE OF THE CONTROL ARMS TOO. HONDA SHOULD OWN UP TO THE FAULTY PARTS ENTIRELY AND STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. SEE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE WHICH WAS A LARGE SUV, WHO STOPPED SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY BRAKE LIGHTS THE CONSUMER SLAMMED ON HER BRAKES. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE, BUT IT DID NOT RESTRAIN HER PROPERLY. THE CONTACT'S BODY SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE DASHBOARD. THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT TORE AWAY FROM THE DOOR AND THE FLOOR. SHE INJURED HERSELF VERY BADLY AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE AND MINOR DAMAGE TO THE CONTACT'S BUMPER. SHE CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA AND THEY STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WORKED PROPERLY. THE CRASH CAUSED THE SEAT BELT TO LOOSEN. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT NO ONE WOULD COME OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY ALREADY HAD PICTURES AND SAW THE DAMAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,042. UPDATED 3/13/09 *CN HONDA REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND STATED THE SEAT BELT WORKED PROPERLY. 2007 HONDA CIVIC WITH UNEVEN REAR TIRE WEAR THAT IS NOTICEABLE AT 5000 MILES AND CUPS REAR TIRES SO BAD BY 10000 MILES THAT THERE IS SO MUCH NOISE IN VEHICLE IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WHEEL BEARINGS ARE SHOT. BY 15000 MILES THE TIRES ARE SHOWING CORDS BECAUSE OF UNEVEN WEAR. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED ARMS ON REAR, SOLD ME NEW TIRES FOR REAR, AND REALIGNED VEHICLE. SAID PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. NOW HAVE 11000 MILES ON NEW TIRES INSTALLED WITH SAME PROBLEM ON NEW REAR TIRES. DEALER WILL NOT FIX PROBLEM. LOOKED ON INTERNET AT SAME COMPLAINTS ON SAME YEAR HONDA CIVIC ABOUT UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. SAME PROBLEM ACROSS COUNTRY WITH DEALER NOT KNOWING HOW TO FIX AND SAYS IT IS AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX. THIS IS GOING TO BE A BIG PROBLEM AS THESE CARS ARE SLOWLY PLACED INTO THE USED CAR MARKET AND TIRES ARE A SECOND THOUGHT BECAUSE IF YOU ARE STANDING BESIDE THE CAR, THE TREAD LOOKS BRAND NEW WHILE LOOKING DOWN ON THE TIRE AND YOU ASSUME IT IS NOT THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE AND KEEP DRIVING ON THEM. ROARING SOUND FROM REAR OF VEHICLE (SOUNDS LIKE I'M DRIVING ON 4X4 TIRES)!. FIRESTONE DEALER SAYS BOTH REAR TIRES ARE HEAVILY 'CUPPED'. THIS PROBLEM BECAME NOTICEABLE AT APPROXIMATELY 18K MILES. THE REAR TIRE NOISE IS SO LOUD NOW, THAT I CANNOT HEAR MY ENGINE RUNNING WHILE UNDERWAY. APPROXIMATELY 50% TREADWEAR. *TR
ME AND MY FIANCE PURCHASED A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI. THIS IS THE SECOND 07 SI WE HAVE OWNED. ON BOTH OF THE CIVICS I HAD THAT PROBLEM WITH 3RD GEAR POPPING OUT AND ALSO GRINDS SOMETIMES GOING INTO 3RD. ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO THE CAR STARTED DRIVING FUNNY, AND THE REAR END WAS SLIGHTLY MOVING SIDE TO SIDE ON THE HIGHWAY. I CHECKED AND NOTICED THE TIRES WERE ALMOST GONE IN THE REAR. WITH ONLY 22000 MILES THE TIRES SHOULD NOT BE WEARING DOWN SO ALL OF THE WIRES ARE SHOWING IN THE TIRE. I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. I ALREADY KNEW THE ALIGNMENT WAS OFF, BUT I JUST FELT LIKE SOMETHING ELSE WAS WRONG. I CALLED MY DAD AND TOLD HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON. A COUPLE DAYS LATER HE FOUND A WHOLE BUNCH OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2006-2007 CIVICS, WITH EXCESSIVE WEARING OF THE BACK TIRES. IT TURNS OUT THERE ARE A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT IS CAUSED BY BAD CONTROL ARMS IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT HONDA HAS MADE A BULLETIN OF THIS, BUT HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL. I CALLED THE MANAGER TO WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR, AND TOLD HIM THAT MY TIRES WE WORE DOWN TO THE WIRES. ACCORDING TO HIM HE CONSIDERED THAT NORMAL WEAR. NOW THAT I KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM, I GOT IN CONTACT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO IS LOOKING AT MY CAR ON MONDAY. I HAVE PRINTED OFF ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS AND THE PICS OF THEIR TIRES SO I CAN SHOW HIM. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS ABOUT THE CAR I WOULD HAVE NOT PURCHASED IT. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED HONDA\'S, BUT I AM NOT VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS 07 SI. MY 1991 INTEGRA RUNS AND DRIVES A HELL OF A LOT BETTER. I AM ALSO CALLING HONDA\'S CUSTOMER SERVICE TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC THAT I BOUGHT NEW. I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED REGULARLY, AND EACH TIME I HAVE TOLD THE DEALER THAT I HEAR A LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR. THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY TOLD ME THAT THE NOISE IS NORMAL FOR MY MODEL AND TIRES. THE NOISE BECAME SO BAD THAT I INSISTED THEY DO SOMETHING. THEY NOW SAY THAT THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS MUST BE REPLACED AND THAT THE CAR MUST BE ALIGNED AND THAT MY TIRES ARE RUINED. THE DAMAGE TO THE TIRES HAS CAUSED A SERIOUS SAFETY CONDITION. THEY REPLACED THE REAR CONTROL ARMS, BUT I STILL HAVE THE BAD TIRES. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS DEFECT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
NOTICED UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND VIBRATION ON MY HONDA CIVIC HYBRID, AND NOTIFIED HONDA SERVICE ABOUT THIS ISSUE WHEN I BROUGHT IN THE CAR FOR OIL CHANGE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOKED AT THE CAR AND SAID THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE WORN, AND THIS WAS DUE TO REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEM. HONDA WOULD COVER THE COST OF THAT FIX, BUT I ALSO NEEDED FOUR NEW TIRES -- NOT COVERED BY HONDA. HE OFFERED TO MOVE THE REAR TIRES UP FRONT AND JUST FOCUS ON THE REAR ($280 FOR TWO TIRES). AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE AND FINDING THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED LAST SPRING, I DECLINED TO HAVE TWO WORN TIRES WITH EVIDENCE OF CUPPING PUT ON THE FRONT OF A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR. I ASKED WHY I HADN'T BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS DESIGN FLAW WHEN I HAD BROUGHT IN THE CAR FOR A PRE-ROADTRIP CHECK IN JULY (HE SAID IF I DID NOT TELL HIM TO LOOK FOR REAR TIRE WEAR THEY WOULDN'T LOOK) OR WHY HE DIDN'T NOTE IT TWO WEEKS LATER WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN BECAUSE THE A/C HAD FAILED ON THE TRIP (ANOTHER KNOWN DEFECT, I NOW REALIZE). THE CAR ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE AN ELECTRIC SWITCHING IRREGULARITY, WHICH HAS YET TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE SERVICE REP SAID UNLESS I SPECIFICALLY ASK, THEY WOULDN'T HAVE LOOKED FOR THE REAR SUSPENSION ISSUE -- EVEN THOUGH THERE HAD BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN -- BECAUSE "NOT EVERY CIVIC HAS THE PROBLEM." I CANNOT IMAGINE THAT AT 15,600 MILES (WHERE IT WAS IN JULY) THAT THE TIRES DID NOT THEN HAVE SIGNS OF UNEVEN WEAR THAT NOW HAS NECESSITATED TIRE REPLACEMENT AT 19,000 MILES. I REPLACED TWO TIRES, ONE OF WHICH HONDA COVERED. WE HAVE ISSUED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA TO COVER THE COST OF TWO OTHER NEW TIRES, WHICH THEY SAID WOULD BE RESOLVED WITHIN THREE WORKING DAYS. *TR
THE DEALER REPLACED MY PASSENGER SEAT. AFTER THAT MY SRS WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF. IT'S BEEN CYCLING ON AND OFF FOR YEARS NOW. I WAS TOO FRUSTRATED AT HOW I WAS TREATED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GO BACK AT THE TIME. NOW I WENT IN BECAUSE I NEED TO PASS INSPECTION AND THEY TELL ME MY WHOLE SRS SYSTEM HAS HAD AN INTERNAL ERROR. *TR
I WAS SHIFTING EASILY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AT 15-18MPH AND APPROXIMATELY 3K RPM. MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION FAILED AT THAT TIME, AND I LOST POWER-- NEARLY CREATING AN ACCIDENT. THE FAILURE INVOLVED BROKEN TEETH OF THE COUNTERSHAFT AND FINAL (RING) GEAR. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED PREVIOUSLY IN MANY INTERNET FORUMS, BUT PERHAPS NOT FORMALLY. HONDA SHOULD HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT MODELS EXPERIENCING SUCH FAILURE, REPRESENTED BY THE NUMBER OF TRANSMISSIONS / COUNTERSHAFT / FINAL DRIVE GEARS SOLD BY THEIR PARTS DISTRIBUTOR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT SUN VISOR FLIPPED DOWN WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED BUT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
I HAD MY 2007 CIVIC HYBRID IN FOR SERVICE LAST WEEK AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE PARTS SUBJECT TO A RECALL THAT AFFECTED THE TIRE WEAR AND THE RIDE. THE RECALLED PARTS, REAR SUSPENSION, AND THE INSTALLATION WERE COVERED BY HONDA, BUT THE EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR WAS NOT. MIKE (SERVICE) CHECKED WITH HONDA WHO SAID THEY WOULD ONLY PAY FOR 30% OF THE NEW TIRES, SO I WOULD STILL BE OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT 1) HONDA WOULD HAVE A DEFECTIVE PART CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR AND BAD PERFORMANCE, BUT NOT NOTIFY THE OWNERS TO BRING THEIR CARS IN; AND 2) THAT THE EFFECT OF THIS FAULTY PART CAUSED EXCESSIVE WEAR IN THE TIRES, AND THAT HONDA WOULD NOT PAY FOR NEW TIRES. I NOW HAVE TO GET NEW TIRES AT 29,000 MILES WHICH I FEEL IS IN APPROPRIATE. FINALLY, I HAVE RESEARCHED THE APPROPRIATE TIRES FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THERE ARE MANY CHOICES WELL UNDER $100 PER TIRE, AND FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL ME THAT MY REPLACEMENT TIRES WOULD COST $100 + PER TIRE, PLUS INSTALLATION, BALANCING ETC., IS TOO COSTLY. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN TREATED FAIRLY AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA. WHEN A DEFECTIVE PART IS NOT COMMUNICATED TO THE OWNER WHO COULD BRING THE CAR IN TO GET IT FIXED BEFORE THE TIRES WERE TOTALLY DAMAGED, THAT IS THE FAULT OF HONDA. *TR
