No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown NHTSA Campaign. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel became stiff. The contact stated that the steering wheel difficult to turn. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115, 000.
There are hacks to cars that can control the computers remotely, possibly from devices such as programmable thingy remote control devices that can be programmed with different fuctions, or direct open door remote entry hacks into the vehicle port that remote control the cars functions.
While driving, the hood prop rod dislodged from its securing clip and fell onto the positive terminal of the battery. This caused an electrical short, which led to the rod heating up rapidly and igniting a fire under the hood. The fire damaged the headlight assembly and the surrounding trim panel, though the wiring fortunately did not catch fire. A nearby police officer was able to extinguish the fire before it spread further. This incident posed a serious safety risk and could have resulted in more extensive damage or injury. There were no warning lights or symptoms before the failure. The issue appears to stem from the design or failure of the clip that holds the hood prop rod in place. The vehicle has not been modified and was being driven under normal conditions. A local auto body shop inspected the vehicle afterward and confirmed that the loose prop rod made contact with the battery terminal, creating a serious fire hazard. They advised reporting this as a safety issue. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle. The incident was witnessed by a police officer, and the damage was evaluated by an independent repair shop following the fire.
There is a recall for the engines and air bags on theys cars handa said so.
The vehicle will shut off in traffic without any warning from the cars system. Unknown if there is any interference being caused by internal or external.
My clutch pedal bracket is poorly made after doing research I realized this is a common issue with these cars, the pedal brackets can break while driving and cause an accident if you are stuck in a gear and can’t get out of it
The contact's mother owned a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle unintentionally accelerated. The front of the vehicle collided with a garage door. The garage door was damaged. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's mother sustained neck and shoulder injuries. The contact received medical treatment for her injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was not able to be repaired. The vehicle was deemed totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The VIN was not available.
Car accelerated into a garage door unintentionally. The brakes did not work. The problem has not been reproduced. The car was taken to a honda dealer twice before the accident for the same reasons of sudden unintentional acceleration. The vehicle has been totaled and has not been inspected by anyone. There were no warning indicators that I am aware of.
No codes on the dash, police said the airbags malfunctioned. Car hit an embankment on the front right side then the car flipped over. The steering wheel did not deploy. All of the side airbags, both bottom and top side airbags came out still folded and did not inflate. Car is currently with State Farm insurance at their garage.
I have the same problem with the readiness codes on my 2009 Honda Civic 4DSD during my inspection this week, October 2022. This also happened in 2019 and I drove the vehicle between 250-300 miles before the codes reset. This time I have driven the vehicle the same amount and the codes have not reset. After replacing all of my tires at the dealership, my TPMS light kept coming on. I was unable to get back to the dealership as my spouse had a medical emergency. Today while I was doing an extended highway drive to reset the codes, around 105 miles in, my TPMS light popped on and then shut off. The tires were checked, all good, but my EVAP and Catalyst codes have not reset.
3 times my fooit has sliped off the brake pedal and on to the gas pedal. In all cases i was able to go back to the break pedal and stop. it seems the break pedal is slipery. In all cases the car lurched foward. This has never happened in any of the other cars that i have driven and continue to drive. Now with this honda it has happened 3 times.
I am the second owner of this car when I bought it had 40k it's at 92k ..I have had to replace the engine mounts 2x now 3 if you consider the mounts on car when was manufactured :(
When removing my 4 day old infant (in her brand new car seat), I noticed the seat belt was very loose. I securely fastened her in before leaving to visit family for Easter. When I lifted the car seat, the seat belt buckle was laying in the base. The strap securing the seat buckle detached and came free. My daughter was not securely fastened while I was driving my vehicle!!!!
The Navigation system's clock automatically resets to Jan 1st 2002 4:00 o'clock and when you try to manually change the clock settings, it just immediately goes back to 12:00. This seems to have effected tons of Civic with the navigation system since Jan 2022.
My husband made a left turn from a center lane and didn't see a vehicle coming at us because of the blind spot. We hit the other vehicle on the front right side. The airbags deployed and the side airbag exploded and burned my right arm badly. I now have injury scars from the passenger seat airbag exploding. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The contact was a former police officer who had been tasked with investigating a vehicle crash that involved a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the owner was driving at a yet-to-be-determined rate of speed, he hit a dip in the road which sent the vehicle airborne and off the road. The vehicle then went through a guardrail and crashed into a light pole with a large concrete support post. A control box for an electric sign and the guardrail was damaged due to the accident. The passenger-side air bags did not deploy upon impact. The driver was treated for his injuries at the scene by paramedics. The passenger was taken to the hospital where he was treated for injuries to both his head and torso, the passenger died three days later as a result of his injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard and was a total loss. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated that on several occasions while making left or right turns, there was an abnormal clicking and clacking sound coming from the front of the vehicle and the steering column. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the lower control arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. I TOOK THIS SEAT APART TO FIX A WOBBLE. NOW I THINK THERE MIGHT BE A LARGER SAFETY CONCERN WITH THESE SEATS. PROBLEM: THE REAR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT BAR ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS YIELDED TO FAILURE ALONG A WELD. THIS BAR IS USED FOR SYNCHRONIZING THE SEAT HEIGHT ON THE REMOTE SIDE AND SENDING SIDE. SYMPTOM: THIS RESULTS IN THE REMOTE SIDE OF THE SEAT'S HEIGHT TO FLOAT, CAUSING A SMALL BUT SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TWISTING OF ONE SIDE AS THE (DRIVER'S) SEAT ROCKS ON THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT FEET. SAFETY: THE "TWISTING" ACTION IN A COLLISION COULD CAUSE UNEXPECTED FAILURE OF SEAT. I STARTED MY VEHICLE UP AFTER WORK AND IT WAS IDLING ROUGH BUT THEN STABILIZED SO I PAYED IT NO MIND. SOON AS I MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. I IMMEDIATELY LOSS POWER AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DECELERATE. I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS, PRESSED ON THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS BOGGING AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PASS 50MPH. I SAFELY GOT OFF ON THE NEXT EXIT AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND MADE IT HOME SAFELY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. I CHANGED MULTIPLE PARTS ON THE VEHICLE SINCE THEN, YET IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT.
Pain on my Honda Civic 2009 Is peeling very badly. I read that it was manufacture defect and I would like to have it fixed. It started about two years ago.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MCGRATH HONDA OF ST CHARLES (1411 E MAIN ST, ST. CHARLES, IL 60174) HOWEVER, A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. INVALID VIN.

THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL, SPINNING AROUND, CROSSING TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, HITTING THE MOUNTAIN SIDE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURY TO HER RIGHT KNEE, SHOULDER, ELBOW, BACK AND NECK HOWEVER MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS NOT RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FREEWAY HONDA (1505 AUTO MALL DR, SANTA ANA, CA 92705 PHONE: (714) 547-3555) WHOM WAS ATTEMPTING TO DIAGNOSIS THE FAILURE HOWEVER, WHEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DEEMED IT A TOTAL LOSS, ALL DIAGNOSES WAS SEIZED. I GOT A RECALL NOTICE AND TRYING TO CALL AND SCHEDULE THE REPAIR FOR LAST ONE YEAR. THE RECALL NOTICE CLEARLY SAYS I WILL GET A FREE LOANER VEHICLE BUT EVERY TIME I TALK TO DEALERSHIP OR HONDA CUSTOMER CARE THEY DENY THE CLAIM AND SAY THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO GET A LOANER VEHICLE DURING THE REPAIR. THE NOTICE LETTER ALSO SUGGESTED THAT I CAN SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AND GET A LOANER VEHICLE BY TEXTING AT [XXX]. BUT WHEN I TEXTED THE PERSON DENY IT AND SUGGESTED THAT I NEED TO TALK TO CUSTOMER CARE OR HONDA DEALERSHIP. WHICH I ALREADY DID AND THEY DENY ME THE LOANER VEHICLE. I WANT COMPENSATION FOR MY TIME AND ALSO WANT MY REPAIR TO BE DONE AND I WANT A LOANER VEHICLE AS SUGGESTED IN THE NOTICE LETTER. AFTER NUMEROUS VISITS TO OCEAN HONDA OF BURLINGAME TO DISCUSS THAT THE CAR I PURCHASED WAS NEVER ACTUALLY COMPLETELY "PROPERLY CERTIFIED" AS WAS DISCUSSED; AND THE FACT THAT I BROUGHT IT IN NUMEROUS TIMES. - I HAVE HAD NO COOPERATION. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF = CAR ENGINE BLOCK BURNED UP THER WAS NO FLUID IN THE ENGINE VIN: 2HG VEHICLE MILEAGE: 153,684 DESCRIPTION: WARRANTY EXTENSION: ENGINE BLOCK SUPERSEDES 10-048, DATED DECEMBER 18, 2013, TO REVISE THE INFORMATION HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW. AFFECTED VEHICLES YEAR MODEL TRIM VIN RANGE 2006'08 CIVIC ALL ALL VINS BEGINNING WITH 1HG OR 2HG ' CHECK ELIGIBILITY WITH A IN VIN STATUS INQUIRY. 2009 CIVIC ALL ALL VINS BEGINNING WITH 1HG, 19X, AND 2HG ' CHECK ELIGIBILITY WITH A IN VIN STATUS INQUIRY. THEIR OWN INTERNAL FINDING ABOUT DEFECTIVE MOTORS. WE UNDERSTAND THAT WERE A SMALL PERCENTAGE, BUT THAT NOT DOES NEGATE US HAVING A BIG ISSUE. WE ARE BEING PENALIZED FOR SOMETHING THAT THE HONDA KNOWS TO BE A ISSUE.
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND STOPPING TO PARK, WE SMELLED THE SCENT OF GASOLINE. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND A "FLAW" WHERE THE GAS NOZZEL/NECK CONNECTION (OR WELD) TO THE MAIN GAS TANK WAS SLOWLY LEAKING GAS. THE SERVICE PERSON AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HAD NEVER SEEN THAT KIND OF FLAW OR DEFECT BEFORE. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT WE ORDER A NEW GAS TANK WITH THE GAS NOZZEL/NECK CONNECTOR. I'M THINKING THE WELD BETWEEN THE TWO PARTS MAY BE A WEAK LINK ON CARS SIMILAR TO OURS AND WANT TO REPORT IT.
Honda Civic cracked motor block is leaking antifreeze that the car occupants unknowingly are inhaling. I ended up in Mission Viejo Hospital. For kidney and heart problems. I would inhale antifreeze three to four hours a day driving back and forth to work. This is a health crisis because it's deadly. How many elderly, pregnant women and small children or subjected to these poisonous toxin. Needs to be addressed ASAP.
TAKATA RECALL JULY 06, 2019 ABOUT A YEAR AGO MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, BUT IT TURNED OFF IMMEDIATELY. IT NEVER CAME BACK ON UNTIL RECENTLY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS LIT ON THE DASH. MY VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE AIRBAG CODE I GET WHEN I SCAN THE VEHICLE IS A "CODE 33-10 OPEN IN THE LEFT SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG FIRST INFLATOR." AIRBAGS IN VEHICLES SHOULD NOT GO BAD FOR NO REASON ESPECIALLY CURTAIN AIRBAGS. THIS AIRBAG WENT BAD (DEFECTIVE). I WENT ONLINE AND I SAW THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SAME ISSUES AS I DO ON HONDA VEHICLES. I WAS ABOUT TO SELL MY CAR AND NOW THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME, THEN I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SELL MY VEHICLE. MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC HAD 115,000 MILES WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT FIRST CAME ON IN THE DASH. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THAT SOMEONE LOOKS INTO THIS MATTER. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THANK YOU.
HONDA CIVIC YEARS 06 TO 09, ENGINE BLOCK LEAKS NO OWNER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED NOR HAVE THE DEALERSHIPS PARTICIPATED IN NOTIFYING THAT PERSON AFTER PURCHASE. APPARENTLY HANNAH IS AWARE OF THIS. AND HAS NOT CONTACTED OWNERS
THE IGNITION AND LOCK COMPONENTS HAVE WORN OUT.THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND THE IGNITION IS HAVING PROBLEMS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS NOT STANDARD HONDA WORKMANSHIP, AND THE DEALER SUGGESTS HAVING THE ENTIRE CAR REKEYED WHICH COSTS ABOUT THE SAME AS THE CAR IS WORTH. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE WITH A FAULTY COMPONENT TO BEGIN WITH.

2009 HONDA CIVIC NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. IN FEB 2019 HE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. FRONT AIRBAGS WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED UNDER TAKITA RECALL. I WAS TOLD THE PASSENGER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR "A PART THAT JUST FAILS OVER TIME" AND WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I PAID $1100 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. TWO MONTHS LATER AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND I FEAR IT IS NOW THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG THAT HAS FAILED AND I WILL HAVE TO PUT ANOTHER $1100 INTO A CAR FOR FAILURE OF A SAFETY PART. THE CAR HAS 112,000 MILES AND I JUST PAID AN ADDITIONAL $1400 FOR REAR BREAKS, SHOCKS, ETC., WHICH I CONSIDER ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. I COULD HAVE PUT $3600 DOWN ON A NEW CAR. NOW I AM ALREADY INTO THIS CAR FOR $2500 AND FIXING THE AIRBAG IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. IT NEEDS TO BE DONE. I WOULD BE CURIOUS TO KNOW HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SIDE AIRBAG ISSUES WITH HONDA VEHICLES. ALSO, THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE VEHICLE! STARTED PEELING 6 MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP SO HONDA NOT RESPONSIBLE.
TAKATA RECALL
THE A/C RELAY SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AND NOW I'M HAVING TO REPLACE THE ACTUAL AC SWITCH ON THE COMPRESSOR DUE TO IT BOGGING MY ENGINE DOWN EVERY TIME I TURN IT ON AND IT STILL WON'T BLOW COLD AIR. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUED ISSUE AND I'VE SEEN A LOT OF POST ONLINE ABOUT IT. SO WHY HASN'T IT BEEN RECALLED OR SOMETHING DONE ABOUT IT.
"TAKATA RECALL". MY HONDA CIVIC 2009 LX SEDAN IS GIVING ME A VERY HARD TIME. ITS AIR CONDITION TURNS ON BUT STOPS WORKING RIGHT AFTER 10 MINTS AS THE COMPRESSOR GETS HOT AND IT STARTS BLOWING HOT AIR. THIS ISSUE IS WITH ALMOST ALL VEHICLES OF THE SAME GENERATION AND HONDA IS NOT GOING TO OWN IT AND SAYS THAT THE CARS ARE OUT OF WARRANTY NOW. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER.
THE CAR OVERHEATED ON THE FREEWAY WITH LEAKING COOLANT AT ABOUT 138K MILES. IT WAS FOUND THAT IT IS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK NEAR THE WATERPUMP. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THE VIN NUMBER AT HONDA. WE ARE JUST OUTSIDE THE 10 YR MARK BY 7 MONTHS (PURCHASED USED 1 WK OUTSIDE OF THE 10 YR MARK).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTERIOR RUBBER AND CLIPS ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WERE DETERIORATING AND EXPOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF PASADENA (1965 E FOOTHILL BLVD, PASADENA, CA 91107, (626) 773-8774), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
The weatherstripping around the windows has deteriorated.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED CHEST PAIN AND WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE. THE OTHER TWO PASSENGERS SUSTAINED CONTUSIONS FROM THE SEAT BELTS AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DAMAGED AND SENSED THAT THE AIR BAG DID DEPLOY. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG AND THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. THE SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR THE AIR BAG SENSOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED THE OWNER RETAINED OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DO THE REPAIRS WITH THE SETTLEMENT AMOUNT FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND LEFT MESSAGES BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
CRACK IN ENGINE BLOCK - DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, CAME TO STOPLIGHT AND NOTICED STEAM COMING FROM ENGINE AND OVERHEATED. STOPPED TO LOOK UNDER HOOD, SMELLED OF COOLANT. CHECKED HOSES, CLAMPS, RADIATOR.... EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. BOUGHT A GALLON OF COOLANT, POURED DIRECTLY INTO RADIATOR. IT NEEDED THE WHOLE GALLON. IT DID NOT OVERHEAT AFTER REFILLING COOLANT, BUT THE NEXT DAY THE ENGINE STARTED RATTLING AND RUNNING POORLY. I COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 50MPH. I TOOK TO HONDA DEALER, THEY SAID IT IS CRACK IN ENGINE BLOCK, KNOWN PROBLEM WITH '06-'09 HONDAS BUT OUT OF WARRANTY, SO THEY WILL NOT REPLACE ENGINE.
I NO LONGER OWN THIS CAR. I SOLD IT TO A JUNKYARD 6 MONTHS AGO. PLEASE STOP SENDING ME RECALL NOTICES.
CAR ROOF PAINT IN EXCHANGE COLOR
LEAK IN INTERIOR OF THE AUTOMOBILE WHICH HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT (BRAMAN HONDA) WAS UNABLE TO FIND AFTER 7 HOURS OF INVESTIGATION. LEAK IS ON BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE SEEN MANY VIDEOS ON YOUUTUBE DESCRIBING INTERIOR LEAKS ON HONDAS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A COMMONLY REPORTED PROBLEM AND IF THE CAR COMPANY CAN RECOMMEND A FIX. PLEASE HELP.
