MY 2009 CIVIC HAS A PROBLEM THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY OTHER EIGHTH GENERATION CIVICS: THE A/C RELAY IS FAULTY AND IS OF A POOR DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURE. THE A/C RELAY IS KNOWN TO FAIL VERY PREMATURELY AND CAUSE THE COMPRESSOR FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER TO SPIN/CYCLE CONTINUOUSLY OR STAY ON (EVEN WHEN THE A/C IS NOT TURNED ON), AND THUS CAUSE THE COMPRESSOR TO HEAT UP TREMENDOUSLY AND FAIL, WHICH CAUSES MECHANICAL DAMAGE INSIDE THE COOLING SYSTEM. THERE ARE COUNTLESS STORIES ONLINE, IN CAR FORUMS, AND AT HONDA DEALERSHIPS AND REPAIR SHOPS TO BACK THIS ASSERTION. NOT ONLY DOES THIS SUBSTANDARD A/C RELAY CAUSE EXPENSIVE DAMAGE THAT IS NOT EASILY REPAIRED (HOW DOES A 4 HOUR TEAR-DOWN AND REASSEMBLY SOUND?), BUT IT REPRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE RELAY IS FAULTY AND MAY CAUSE ISSUES NOT ONLY WITH THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (INCLUDING THE FUSE BOX WHERE IT IS LOCATED) BUT ALSO BECAUSE OF THE TREMENDOUS HEAT THAT A FAULTY RELAY GENERATES WHEN IT CAUSES THE COMPRESSOR TO CONTINUOUSLY CYCLE. THE METAL OF THE COMPRESSOR ACTUALLY CHANGED COLOR WHEN IT CONTINUOUSLY CYCLED ON MY CAR, AND IS A TELLTALE SIGN OF THIS EVER COMMON FAILURE. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT SEEN FIT TO ADDRESS IT THOUGH TSBS/RECALLS FOR OTHER MODELS HAVE BEEN ISSUED.
CLEAR COAT PAINT PEELING PROBLEM. THE PAINT IS CRACKING ON THE HOOD, BOTH 1/4 PANELS, FRONT PILLARS, TRUNK, AND ROOF.
TAKATA RECALL: NO NOTICE EVER RECEIVED! OUR 2009 HONDA CIVIC WAS PURCHASED BY US IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008, AND OUR PHONE NUMBER AND PHYSICAL ADDRESS HAVE NOT CHANGED IN THE 10 YEARS SINCE THEN. AS OF TODAY, MAY 7, 2018, A CALL TO HONDA OF AMERICA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER STILL ASSOCIATES BOTH OUR PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE WASHINGTON POST (4/23/18) QUOTES HONDA OF AMERICA EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT RICK SCHOSTEK AS SAYING, 'WE'RE GOOD AT REPAIRING VEHICLES, BUT FINDING AND CONVINCING CUSTOMERS OF OLDER MODEL VEHICLES TO COMPLETE RECALLS, NOW THAT HAS PROVED A DIFFICULT CHALLENGE.' IS HE IMPLYING THAT WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED? WE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION. HONDA HAS OUR PHYSICAL ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL, AND THE LOCAL DEALER STILL SENDS REGULAR NOTICES TO THAT SAME EMAIL ADDRESS. THE VEHICLE TITLE WAS SWITCHED TO OUR SON'S NAME ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO. HE LIVES A COUPLE OF MILES FROM US, AND HE HAS NEVER RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION EITHER. SO HOW DID WE FIND OUT THAT THE CAR'S AIRBAGS WERE RECALLED? A LAW FIRM SENT A POSTCARD TO HIS HOME ASKING HIM TO JOIN IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA OF AMERICA. GUESS IT WASN'T SO HARD TO FIND THE CAR'S OWNER IF UNSOLICITED ATTORNEYS CAN FIND THEM!
TAKATA RECALL. MY COMPLAIN IS THE HONDA MANAGER 'JOSE DOMINGUEZ ' IS NOT HANDLING THINGS PROFESSIONALLY. I MADE A APPOINTMENT WITH A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE BECAUSE I HAVE A RECALL ON MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC. I MADE THE APPOINTMENT WITH HER AND SHE TOLD ME SHE'D BE ABLE TO GET ME A CAR TO USE BECAUSE A SHUTTLE WOULDN'T WORK. I SHOW UP ON MY APPOINTMENT DATE MARCH 12 AT 7:30. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME A CAR AS I WAS UNDER 21. I UNDERSTAND THAT BUT NO ONE COMMUNICATED WITH ME THAT YOU HAD TO BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE. SO I WAS VERY UPSET AS I HAD TO WAKE UP EARLY WHEN IT COULD'VE BEEN AVOIDED IF I GOT ASKED THE RIGHT QUESTIONS. SECOND COMPLAINT, JAMES DOMINGUEZ (SANTA FE HONDA MANAGER) WANTS ME TO COME WHEN I'M WORKING TO BRING IN MY CAR BUT I CANNOT DO THAT BECAUSE I HAVE TO STAY ON THE JOB SITE. I EXPLAINED THAT TO HIM. HE SAYS, 'THAT'S YOUR FAULT BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO BRING IT IN'. I ONLY HAVE SUNDAYS AVAILABLE, WHICH I TOLD HIM, BUT HE SAID HE CAN'T ACCOMMODATE ME. SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS AIR BAG RECALL BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME TO TAKE IT IN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT NOTICED A LEAK FROM THE RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE ENGINE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REFERRED THE CONTACT TO 1ST HONDA OF SIMI VALLEY (2203 FIRST ST, SIMI VALLEY, CA 93065, 805-433-9526) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE CRACK AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A LOUD POPPING SOUND WAS HEARD AND SMOKE SUDDENLY APPEARED FROM UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT OPERATE AND THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (MOTORCARS HONDA, 2953 MAYFIELD RD., CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SRS MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG TO ERRONEOUSLY DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TT*JB
I HAVE A RED LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAG
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (~65-70MPH), THE MOLDING/SEAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD CAME LOOSE, AND BEFORE I COULD GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, IT BROKE FREE. WHILE IT WAS ATTACHED, IT WAS BANGING INTO THE ROOF OF THE CAR AND AGAINST THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE WINDOW. IT WAS HITTING THE WINDOW WITH ENOUGH FORCE THAT I FEARED IT WOULD CRACK THE GLASS. ADDITIONALLY, THAT IT BROKE FREE AND FELL OFF CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD FOR OTHER VEHICLES NEAR ME. IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO, IT SHOWS THE SPACE WHERE THE SEAL CAME LOOSE BETWEEN THE EDGE OF THE GLASS, AND THE FRAME AT THE TOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE SUMMER TIRES WITH WINTER TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE JACK FAILED. THE CONTACT'S ARM BECAME TRAPPED BETWEEN THE WHEEL WELL, THE BRAKE ROTOR, AND THE WHEEL ITSELF. THE CONTACT'S FATHER, WHO WAS ALSO IN THE GARAGE AT THE TIME, WAS ABLE TO LIFT THE VEHICLE ENOUGH FOR HIM TO REMOVE HIS ARM. THE CONTACT MADE A SECOND ATTEMPT TO JACK UP THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGES TO THE FRONT END, THE SUSPENSION, AND THE BRAKE ROTORS. AAA WAS CONTACTED AND WAS ABLE TO SAFELY LIFT THE VEHICLE AND REPLACE THE WHEELS. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO BOTH ARMS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE RESULTS FROM THE X-RAY WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. PETERS HONDA OF NASHUA (300 AMHERST ST, NASHUA, NH 03063, (603) 718-3781) WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED NOT TO ATTEMPT TO USE THE SUPPLIED JACK WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE JACK WAS ORIGINAL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
BOTH SUN VISORS HAVE SPLIT OPEN, WHICH HAS CAUSED THEM TO DROP DOWN AND OBSTRUCT THE DRIVER'S CLEAR VIEW OF THE ROAD

WHEN I DRIVING ON THE ROAD,!THE SPEED DOMETER COME DOWN AND THE CAR COULDN'T GO , I TRIED TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL SO THE RPM WENT UP HIGH, BUT THE CAR NOT GO FORWARD ANYMORE. THEN I STOPPED SHIFTED TO PART AND SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND GO FOR LESS THAN HALF MILE THEN IT HAPPEN AGAIN. IIT HAPPEN IN THE HIGH WAY AND CITY STREETS.10

THE AIR BAG WAS PROTRUDING OUTWARD, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HAVE TO TAPE THE STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT THE AIR BAG FROM COMING OUT. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKATA RECALL WAS REPAIRED 2017. PAINT PEELING MORE THAN HONDA RECALL AREAS. HONDA REFUSES TO REPAINT. 8/2017 9/2017 IN MOTION : DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN AND DROPS DOWN AND BLOCKS MY VIEW OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN WET CONDITIONS WHEN MY CAR SKIDDED ONTO A CURB. MY EXPLOSIVES WENT OFF IN MY AIRBAGS, HOWEVER, MY AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. CURRENTLY MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON.

THE LOCAL DEALER (HONDA SUPER STORE OF LISLE, ILLIONIS) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000. UPDATED 10/26/17*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED SEVERAL CYLINDERS WERE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE CRACK. *TR
DEVELOPED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK, HONDA SERVICE PEOPLE SHOWED THE CRACK AND TOLD US TO CALL HONDA. HONDA BULLETIN 10-048 LISTED EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 10 YEARS FOR 2006-2009 HONDA CIVICS. SPOKE WITH A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE INITIALLY WHO TOLD US THAT REPAIR WOULD BE COVERED. HONDA DEALERSHIP TOOK A FEW DAYS TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE AND TOLD US WE DID NOT HAVE THE CORRECT VIN NUMBER FOR THE REPAIR. OUR HONDA IS THE SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR OF CARS AFFECTED, HAS THE SAME PROBLEM MANY MANY OTHER HONDA DRIVERS HAVE FACED. YET, OUR HONDA WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. FRUSTRATED OWNER THAT HAS CORPORATE OWNERS DOING AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE TO ADDRESS BIG ISSUES
WHILE DRIVING AT A NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, WITH ALL WINDOWS ROLLED UP, A/C ON, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED. THIS WAS ON A WELL PAVED, STRAIGHT PIECE OF HIGHWAY. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND, DRIVER WAS IN THE FAR-RIGHT LANE, AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY, CRACKS, CHIPS OR BREAKAGE IN THE WINDOW PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. GLASS BLEW ALL OVER THE BACK SEAT AND THERE ARE JUST A FEW PIECES OF GLASS STILL HANGING WHERE THE WINDOW ONCE WAS. THIS WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AND HAD THIS BEEN A FRONT WINDOW, IT COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY SERIOUS. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN.
I OWN A 2009 4 DOOR HONDA CIVIC. I BOUGHT IT IN DECEMBER 2009. AMONG SOME OTHER PROBLEMS, INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS, IN 2012 THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DEVELOPED A CRACK AND THEN FELT APART. I TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER AND THEY REPLACED IT FREE OF CHARGE, BUT NOW THE SAME REPLACEMENT HAVE DEVELOPED THE SAME IDENTICAL CRACK AND THE METAL PARTS ARE COMING APART IN THE BACK OF THE VISOR. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOW MY RESPONSIBILITY AND HAVE TO REPLACE IT AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THIS DOES NOT SEEM FAIR TO ME BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VISOR AND IF I HAVE TO SPEND ALMOST $200 TO REPLACE IT, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE SAME ISSUE DOES NOT COME UP AGAIN, BECAUSE HONDA HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS THE REAL ISSUE OF THE WORKMANSHIP OF THEIR VISORS. SIDE AIRBAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BASED ON DEALER DIAGNOSTIC
ALLERGY STARTED OCCUR ON MY BODY , WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND HE SAID THAT THIS ALLERGY IS CAUSE BY A CHEMICAL OCCUR IN MY CAR.
THE SRS LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD. HONDA DEALERSHIP RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TWICE AND DETERMINED IT WAS A FAULTY CABLE REEL. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND HAS NEVER HAD AN AIRBAG DEPLOYED. HONDA EXPLAINED THAT THE CABLE REEL IS A "BAD PART", AND QUOTED REPAIR ESTIMATES AT 700 DOLLARS FOR PART AND SERVICE. HONDA WARNED THAT THERE IS A 50 PERCENT CHANCE THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. HONDA COMPANY REFUSES TO COVER THE COST AND SERVICE OF REPLACING THE CABLE REEL DUE TO EXPIRED WARRANTY FOR AIRBAG PARTS (2-YEAR WARRANTY). AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT MANY HONDA AUTOMOBILES (ESPECIALLY HONDA CIVICS MANUFACTURED AROUND 2009) ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE AND LIABILITY FOR THE COMPANY TO SELL CARS AND ADVERTISE THEIR PRODUCTS AS DURABLE, WHEN IN FACT SAFETY FEATURES BECOME FAULTY AFTER A FEW YEARS. IT IS CONCERNING THAT HONDA IS SELLING AND MARKETING PRODUCTS WITH COMPROMISED SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT BECOME DEFECTIVE AFTER A COUPLE YEARS OF USE. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT THROUGH HONDA, AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE ISSUE INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2017 AND HAVE CONTACTED HONDA OF SANTA MONICA, 1414 18TH STREET, SANTA MONICA, CA 90404-2804, PHONE (310) 264-4900, TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG INFLATOR. THE DEALER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO MY REPEATED REQUESTS FOR AN APPOINTMENT.
BROKEN SUN VISOR. GOUDY REPLACED PASSENGER VISOR TWO THREE YEARS AGO BUT DID NOT REPLACE DRIVER VISOR.
OUR 2009 HONDA CIVIC SI I PURCHASED WITH MY SON BEGAN OVERHEATING ON THE HIGHWAY ON HIS WAY TO WORK. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO OUR REGULAR MECHANIC & THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A WATER PUMP ISSUE, BUT UPON FURTHER INSPECTION DISCOVERED THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED & LEAKING COOLANT. HE ALSO FOUND FOR US, AN AMERICAN HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN THAT SAYS HONDA CIVICS, YEARS 2006-2009, ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A NEW INSTALLED ENGINE BLOCK AT HONDA'S EXPENSE, IF YOUR VIN SHOWS AS ELIGIBLE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO BROOKDALE HONDA, OUR REGULAR DEALER & REPAIR SHOP WHERE WE HAVE PURCHASED 5 VEHICLES. THEY TOO, THOUGHT IT WAS THE WATER PUMP SO WE HAD THAT REPAIRED AT A COST OF $730. WE PICKED IT UP ON SATURDAY APRIL 22, 2017, ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT NIGHT AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK. TEMPERATURE WAS GETTING EXTREMELY HOT, LEAKING COOLANT, & THE ENGINE WAS SMELLING. WE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN ON MONDAY APRIL 24TH, & IT WAS NOT INSPECTED UNTIL TUESDAY APRIL 25. MY SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED & ASKED ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS...I TOLD HIM THE SAME THING AS BEFORE, TEMPERATURE GAUGE GETTING VERY HOT/LEAKING COOLANT/ENGINE SMELLING. I MENTIONED THAT OUR MECHANIC SAID TO LOOK FOR AN ENGINE BLOCK LEAK IN THE SAME LOCATION AS THE CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK SHOWS IN THE 10-048 HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTY S.B. CAMPAIGN PICTURE SHOWS. SURE ENOUGH, HE LOOKS THERE AND CALLS ME TO SAY WHAT I ALREADY KNEW. HOWEVER THE VIN NUMBER DOES NOT MATCH THE RECALL WARRANTY SO THEY SAID THEY CAN'T HELP ME WITH THIS $5500 REPAIR. WE STILL OWE $10,500 ON THE VEHICLE & ITS NOW WORTHLESS OR WE DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE ANYWAY & GET STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR CATCHES ON FIRE FROM OVERHEATING. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN OVERHEATING/LEAKING COOLANT OCCURRED. HOW CAN OUR VEHICLE BE EXCLUDED WHEN THIS IS DANGEROUS & STILL HAPPENING TO HONDA CIVIC OWNERS ALL OVER WITH 10 YR WARRANTY & THEY SAID NO.
TAKATA RECALLI BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AROUND THE END OF SUMMER 2016 THE CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT HAS APPROX. 210,000 MILES ON IT. I USED THE PASSENGER VISOR 4/17/17 AND NOW IT WONT STAY UP AND I SEE ITS SPLIT. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE HOW TO FIX IT AND I CAME ACROSS THE CLASS ACTION SUIT IN REGARDS TO THE VISOR. I EMAILED HONDA WHO CALLED AND TOLD ME THE CAR IS OVER THE MILEAGE AND IT WILL COST ME APPROX. $180 TO FIX. ITS REALLY ANNOYING AND HAMPERS THE VIEW WITH IT LAYING DOWN LIKE THAT. I FEEL THEY SHOULD STILL FIX THE PROBLEM FOR FREE.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE THAT THE AIRBAG INFLATOR HAS TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED IN MY HONDA. I WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE ANY OF THE HONDA DEALERS/SERVICE CENTERS IN MY AREA BECAUSE THEY ALL DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THE DISABLED (I AM DISABLED). I HAVE ASKED HONDA TO ALLOW ME TO USE MY OWN SERVICE STATION INSTEAD. THEY HAVE REFUSED. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE AND HONDA'S PRIMARY CONCERN SHOULD BE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY SEEM UNWILLING TO DO SO IN THIS CASE. FURTHERMORE, SINCE THEY HAVE REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION AGAINST THE DEALERSHIPS, IT IS MY BELIEF THAT HONDA CONDONES DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE DISABLED.

DROVE 50 MILES FROM MONTCLAIR CA (HOME) TO UCI MEDICAL CENTER ORANGE CA, ON HIGHWAYS 60 AND 57. MY WIFE, A STROKE PATIENT HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE UCI NEUROLOGIST. WHEN ARRIVED AT THE INDOOR PARKING ENTRANCE, I MADE A LEFT TURN SLOWLY TO ENTER THE INDOOR PARKING FACILITY OF THE MEDICAL CENTER. SUDDENLY, THE LEFT AXLE SHATTERED AND THE CAR CAME TO SUDDEN HALT. BALL BEARINGS AND PIECES OF METAL WERE ON THE FLOOR. TOWED TO HARDING HONDA, ANAHEIM, CA FACILITY. THEY REPLACED AXLE. ON TEST DRIVE, MECHANIC REPORTED NOISE IN THE RIGHT HAND AXLE AS WELL. FEARING IT MIGHT BREAK ON HIGHWAY, I HAD IT REPLACED ALSO. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY, IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MULTIPLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT. MY CAR WAS DRIVEN ONLY 54157 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.
SUN VISOR BROKE DURING DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. BLOCKING VISUALLY. HONDA WAS INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT INVOLVED THE SAME YEAR BUT JUST SLIGHTLY OUT OF VIN NUMBER AREA.

A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED, BUT AN UNKNOWN COMPONENT WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND ANOTHER INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF FAYETTEVILLE AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SRS UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

TAKATA RECALL: AS OF OCTOBER OF 2016 I HAVE BEEN TO PENSACOLA HONDA TO TRY AND GET MY RECALL COMPLETE. THE FIRST APPOINTMENT THEY MADE ME AWARE THAT I WOULD HAVE TO ORDER A PART SINCE THE HOUSING WAS BROKEN, SO I DID. THE 2ND APPOINTMENT THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS STILL IN AND I WAS GIVEN INCORRECT INFORMATION. IT IS NOW APRIL AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY FOLLOW UPS NOR HAVE I GOTTEN MY RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY HONDA DUE TO FEAR OF THE DEFECT AND I HAVE A NEWBORN BABY SO NO ONE COULD EVER RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH ME. FUEL TANK DOES NOT SEEM TO FILL ALL THE WAY, AND SOMETIMES A FUEL ODER IS PRESENT. ONLINE SEARCH MENTIONED THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN #11-036 FOR THIS CODE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 8/19/16 AS PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL. DEALER MENTIONED THERE IS NO RECALL FOR P2422, AND THERE IS NO EMISSIONS WARRANTY THAT COVERS THIS ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HONDA THAT MY AIRBAG HAS BEEN RECALLED. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT FIX. I WAS TOLD BY SUPERIOR HONDA THAT IT WILL BE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE PART IS AVAILABLE AND ANOTHER FEW WEEKS UNTIL THEY CAN GET MY CAR IN TO BE FIXED. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL SINCE IT WAS JUST MY PASSENGER AIRBAG. I EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE TECH THAT IF IT WASN'T A BIG DEAL THERE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THE PART. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE HE COULD DO FOR ME. HE COULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR BUT CONTINUED TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS NO BIG DEAL AND IF I HAD ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS TO CALL HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG BUT I FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A DATE OF WHEN THIS ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS RECALL EFFECTED MANY VEHICLES BUT THIS ISSUE IS NOT BEING RESOLVED AS FAST AS IT SHOULD BE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND MANY OF THEM HAVE BEEN PROVIDE WITH RENTAL CARS DUE TO THE FACT IT GOING TO TAKE LONGER THAN NORMAL TO FIX. I FEEL LIKE SUPERIOR HONDA COULD HAVE DONE MORE FOR ME INSTEAD OF TELLING ME THAT IT WAS "NO BIG DEAL". I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS DEALERSHIP.
THE CLEAR COAT HAS BEEN FLAKING OFF OF THE ROOF OF MY CAR FOR APPROX 1 YEAR. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THIS RESOLVED BUT I HAVE BEEN IN SUCCESSFUL. AT FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NOW MY CAR IS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR THE MANUFACTURER REPAIR OF THE CLEAR COAT.
TAKATA RECALL...JUST REC'D HE RECALL NOTICE AIRBAGS & FUEL SYSTEM...CALLED HONDA AND.....I THINK IT IS EXTREMELY UNREASONABLE AND UNREALISTIC TO SEND OUT A RECALL NOTICE WITHOUT AN IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION. HONDA'S SUGGESTION IS TO NOT CARRY PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT...WHICH AGAIN..IS UNREASONABLE AND UNREALISTIC...IF THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE THEN THEY SHOULD PROVIDE A SAFE VEHICLE AS A REPLACEMENT UNTIL IT IS FIXED. I HOLD HONDA FULLY RESPONSIBLE AND LIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES OR DEATH THAT MAY RESULT FROM THEIR NEGLECTFUL ACT.
