THE INTERIOR PASSENGER SIDE IS LEAKING RAIN WATER FROM THE ROOF OR SIDE AIR BAG AREA. *TR
THE SUN VISOR HAS SPLIT OPEN AND WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE UP AGAINST THE HEAD LINER CREATING A VISUAL OBSTRUCTION. I HAVE READ ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT RELATED TO VISORS THAT INCLUDES THE 2009 CIVIC, BUT NOT THE 2010 MODEL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR LIKE EVERY DAY. BUT EVERY TIME I PRESS THE BRAKE I HEARD THE SOUND (METALLIC). I WENT TO THE HONDA SERVICE CENTER. AFTER INSPECTION THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ROTOR WAS DETERIORATED AND THE FRONT PAD IS DAMAGED. I HAVE TO DO THE SERVICING AND ITS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE. SO HONDA WILL NOT PAY ANYTHING! I PAID $289.26 FROM MY POCKET TO DO THE ROTOR RESURFACING AND REPLACE TWO FRONT BRAKE PAD OF MY NEW HONDA CIVIC. WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? I HAVE THE RECEIPT WITH ME. AFTER SERVICING I FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. I CAME BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THIS TIME THE SERVICE ADVISER DID THE B*** S*** WITH ME. I TOLD HIM TO DRIVE MY CAR. AFTER DRIVING MY CAR HE UNDERSTOOD THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED. SO HE TOOK MY CAR TO THE SERVICE CENTER AGAIN AND AFTER 10 MINUTES HE CAME BACK TO ME. HE TOLD ME THAT ONE OF THE SCREW WAS BROKEN, THEY REPLACED IT. I WAS SHOCKED!!! I TOLD THEM THAT THEY MISGUIDED ME AND IT COST ME AROUND 300 BUCKS. BUT THE SERVICE ADVISER REFUSED TO AGREE THE TRUTH...THIS IS CRAZY. WHY DO THEY REPLACE MY NEW CIVIC BRAKE FRONT PAD AND ALSO DO THE RESURFACING OF THE ROTOR??...IS THIS CALLED SERVICE...I WANT MY MONEY BACK...FIRST QUESTION IS WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THE RESURFACING OF ROTOR FOR ONLY 18K MILEAGE CAR?? AND SECOND QUESTION IS..IF IT WAS DONE BY MISTAKE..THEN WHY THEY TOOK MY MONEY!!THIS IS ALL CRAZY. *JS
AT 18,000 MILES THE 2010 CIVIC EX BEGAN TO "GROWL" STARTING AT 57MPH. THE RIGHT REAL WHEEL WAS ALSO MUCH HOTTER THAN THE OTHER THREE WHEELS AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 MILES. THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE EACH WEEK, TO THE POINT I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO BE CHECKED OUT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE STUCK, AS WELL AS THE BRAKE "SLIDES", AND THAT THEY "ADJUSTED" THEM. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT BOTH BACK TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE "CORDS WERE TORN". AFTER PAYING THE DEALER OVER $360 FOR TIRES AND ADJUSTMENTS, I M FINDING THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS RANDOMLY GET VERY HOT AND SMELL HOT, TO THE POINT OTHERS CAN SMELL IT AS WELL. WHILE THE DEALER SAYS THEY WILL INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM WITH THE HONDA REP, THEY SAY THAT THERE ARE NO KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH HONDA CIVIC BRAKES. WHICH SEEMS ODD WHEN THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST HONDA FOR CIVIC BRAKE ISSUES. I AM WRITING THIS NOTE TO YOU SO OTHER HONDA CIVIC OWNERS CAN BE MADE AWARE. I HAVE OWNED 3 CIVICS AND 1 PILOT AND NOT HAD ISSUES UNTIL PURCHASING THIS BRAND NEW 2010 CIVIC EX IN FEBRUARY OF 2010. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN WINTERS, AND ONLY DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. HONDA SHOULD BE MADE TO OWN UP TO THIS ISSUE OF STICKING BRAKE CALIPERS, AND CORRECT IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN PULLING TO THE LEFT ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS FLIPPED AND ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE LANDING ON A GRASSY FIELD. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD FURTHER ASSESS THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,004.
I HAD TO REPLACE MY FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2010 CIVIC, ONLY 15,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE HAD CARS PRIOR TO THIS ONE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS WRONG AND DANGEROUS! *TR
I HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AFTER 17000 MILES, *TR
I HAVE REPLACED MY DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR 3 TIMES BECAUSE EACH TIME IT BREAKS. THE FIRST TIME IT BROKE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. THE THIRD TIME MY BROTHER BOUGHT THE VISOR AND INSTALLED IT FOR ME. I HAVE NOT REPLACED IT AGAIN AFTER SEEING THAT THESE VISORS SIMPLY WILL NOT LAST. I OBVIOUSLY TRIED BEING MORE CAREFUL AFTER SEEING THAT USING THE VISOR WOULD BREAK IT. THE SECOND AND THIRD IT HAPPENED WHEN I TRIED USING IT AFTER I GOT IN THE CAR, THE FIRST TIME HOWEVER, IT WAS ALREADY BROKEN WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR. I BELIEVE THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE HEAT, BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THIS MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT IT IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT. *JS
THE VISOR HAS SPLIT APART AND WON'T STAY UP WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS CAUSES A VISIBILITY PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE SIMPLY BY PULLING IT DOWN TO SHIELD THE SUN. BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS HAD BEEN REPLACED ALREADY, SO THIS IS THE THIRD TIME. ONCE IT BROKE, IT JUST HANG THERE. SINCE IT DOES NOT STAY UP OR DOWN, IT PARTIALLY BLOCKS THE VIEW OUT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT IS QUITE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION. YOU CAN NOT MOVE IT TO THE SIDE EITHER, ONCE IT BROKE OPEN. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS HONDA SIMPLY WILL REPLACE THE SAME POORLY-DESIGNED SUN VISOR WITH ANOTHER ONE, IT IS GOING TO BREAK AGAIN. THE REASON WHY I POINT THIS OUT BECAUSE THIS WILL BE MY THIRD ONE!!! *TR
NEED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS - TOTALLY DESTROYED WITH ALL HIGHWAY DRIVING AND LESS MILEAGE THAN ANY OTHER CAR EVER OWNED. $466.57 WITH NO WARRANTY. LUDICROUS THAT THIS WOULD OCCUR AT THIS MILEAGE. COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH NO WARNING. *TR
WHILE MY WIFE WAS WAITING IN LINE AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU LANE, STEAM WAS NOTICED COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PARKED. A QUICK INSPECTION SHOWED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO BE EXTREMELY CLEAN. A SMALL AMOUNT OF MOISTURE WAS NOTICED ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOOD AND NEXT TO THE AC COMPRESSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE AGENCY AND LEFT OVERNIGHT. WHEN I CALLED THE NEXT MORNING, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE COMPRESSOR WAS FAILING AND THAT THEY RECOMMENDED TO HAVE THE COMPRESSOR REPLACED FOR $995. AFTER STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THEN TWO YEARS OLD AND INQUIRING IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR OTHER CIVICS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS, I WAS TOLD THAT A 2006 MODEL WAS BROUGHT IN WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I CALLED SOME LOCAL PARTS STORES AND WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPRESSOR WAS NOT STOCKED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED BECAUSE THE MODEL YEAR WAS STILL NEW. THE FINAL REPAIR WAS REPLACEMENT OF THE AC COMPRESSOR AND AC RELAY FOR A DISCOUNTED PRICE OF $824.60 OUCH! *TR
SQUEALING NOISE COMES AND GOES. MONTHS LATER IT RETURNED AND LASTED FOR LONGER INTERVALS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. ALL DRIVING IS DONE LOCALLY. HAVE BEEN A LONG-TIME OWNER OF HONDAS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT IS NOT A "USUAL" ISSUE. THIS IS CLEARLY A POORLY MADE VEHICLE. *TR
HONDA CIVIC LX 2010. FEW DAYS AGO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THE BRAKE PADS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THAT'S VERY STRANGE CONSIDERING MY CAR HAS ONLY 20,100 MILES. IN ADDITION, I AM A PERSON WHO TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR (OIL CHANGE, TIRES, FLUIDS, EVERYTHING) AND MOREOVER IF THE VEHICLE IS LEASED. UNFORTUNATELY BRAKES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, I HAVE TO PAID FOR THEM. I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS FROM BRAMAN HONDA TO PROVE WHAT I'M SAYING. THAT'S SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT! EVERY 3 MONTHS I HAVE TO TAKE THIS CAR TO THE DEALER WITH SOME NEW PROBLEMS AND PAY BETWEEN $150-350!! THIS IS AN OBVIOUS FACTORY DEFECT WE (THE CONSUMERS) SHOULDN'T BEING PAYING FOR! PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR. FRONT BRAKES EXHIBITED SQUEALING AFTER 15,000 MILES. REPLACEMENT OF ALL FOUR BRAKE PADS WAS REQUIRED: APPROXIMATELY 1/16 TH INCH WAS REMAINING ON EACH OF THE OEM BRAKE PADS. *JS
I HEARD A SQUEALING METAL ON METAL NOISE ON MY HONDA CIVIC, AND SO TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO GET IT SERVICED - THE MECHANIC WHO HELPED ME TOLD ME IT WOULD PROBABLY BE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DISCOVERED THE FRONT BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING --- AT 19,800 MILES. HONDA REFUSES TO COVER THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE UNDER THE "WEAR AND TEAR" CLAUSE OF THE WARRANTY --- BUT THE BRAKES FAILED AT 19,800 MILES. UNACCEPTABLE. WHEN I CONTACTED HONDA ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEY WERE COLD HEARTED, THE OPERATOR WAS CLEARLY IN INDIA AND DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE - I WILL NEVER OWN A HONDA AGAIN. *TR
THE WEIRDEST ACCIDENT I HAD JANUARY 8TH, 2012, AROUND 4:45 PM WITH MY HONDA CIVIC, I CONSIDER IT A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WAS ADDRESSED TO HONDA DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA. IT IS WHEN I WAS TURNING TO THE RIGHT, OUT FROM THE PARKING LOT OF A MEGA-STORE, ONE OF THE KEYS IN MY KEY CHAIN ACCIDENTALLY GOT TRAPPED IN A HOLE AT THE BACK OF THE STEERING WHEEL, THE WHOLE IS NOT COVERED. THE TRAPPED KEY CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE LOCKED IN THE RIGHT TURN POSITION, DESPITE MY EFFORTS TO TURN IT BACK TO THE LEFT. I... WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK, I DID NOT UNDERSTAND FOR THOSE MOMENTS "WHAT IS GOING ON". THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME, FORTUNATE ENOUGH, I HIT THE BRAKES AND MY FRONT BUMPER GOT SCRATCHED AND INDENTED HITTING THE SIDEWALK; FORTUNATE ENOUGH, NO ONE WAS ON THE SIDEWALK OF THE STREET AND NO CAR WAS BEHIND ME. FORTUNATE ENOUGH, I WAS NOT ON THE HIGH WAY, DRIVING 65 MILES/HOUR. MY LOSSES THAT NEED TO BE FIXED AND REPLACED ARE THE CIVIC KEY AND THE TRAPPED KEY (IT WAS MY OTHER ODYSSEY KEY) BOTH ARE DAMAGED AND NEED REPLACEMENT, AND FIXING THE FRONT BUMPER. I WONDER, WHAT WOULD BE THE SITUATION IF THIS HAPPENED TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE HIGH WAY? I THINK IF I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY, SOMEONE ELSE WILL BE WRITING THE CONCERNS OR FILING DAMAGE REPORT WITH PERFECTION HONDA AND MY LIFE INSURANCE. THE HONDA DEALER FEELS THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE TO BE ADDRESSED, THE AMERICAN HONDA CASE ANALYST DOSE NOT HAVE ANY OPINION, AND FEELS SYMPATHY FOR ME!!! WHAT A WRONG RESPONSE, WHEN IT COMES TO A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CIVIC EQUIPPED WITH ARIZONIAN SILVER EDITION PLUS TIRES, SIZE: 205/55R16 (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES HYDROPLANED AT ANY SPEED IN THE RAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE HIGHLY RATED AGAINST HYDROPLANING. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED, BUT NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

TODAY, MY 2010 HONDA CIVIC NEEDED NEW FRONT BRAKES AT RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE - 26000 MILES. AT FIRST I WAS SHOCKED. NOW, I AM DEEPLY DISTURBED BECAUSE TODAY, I LEARNED OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED IN THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA REGARDING BRAKE ISSUES IN 2008, 2009 AND 2010 HONDA CIVICS. SERVICE REP AT HONDA DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR INDICATED THAT BRAKES HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM ON HONDA ACCORDS IN THE PAST, SO MUCH SO, THAT HONDA DID COME OUT WITH AN IMPROVED BRAKE PAD FOR THE ACCORD. I UNDERSTAND THAT A CLASS ACTION SUIT HAD BEEN INITIATED DUE TO THE ACCORD PROBLEM AS WELL. HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WITH RESPECT TO THE CIVIC. HONDA IS FACED WITH A VERY SERIOUS, WIDESPREAD SAFETY PROBLEM ON 2010 CIVICS DUE TO PROBLEMATIC BRAKES. LET'S HOPE THEY STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO THE RIGHT THING BY THEIR CUSTOMERS. OUR SAFETY DEPENDS ON THEIR INTEGRITY. *TR
THE PAST TWO MONTHS WE HAVE EXPERIENCE HEAVY VIBRATION IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE I ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE REAR. I WAS INFORMED THE TIRES ARE SEVERLY WORN, IN COMPARISON TO THE FRONT. THE TIRES WERE NEW WHEN WE PURCHASE THE CAR 6 MONTHS AGO. *TT
THE SUN VISOR ON MY 2010 CIVIC IS BROKEN. THE GLUE HOLDING TOGETHER THE PLASTIC MOLDING AND THE FABRIC WITHIN THE VISOR HAS DETERIORATED WHICH MAKES THE VISOR NOT ABLE TO CLOSE PROPERLY AND CONTINUOUSLY FALL DOWN. I HAVE FOUND INFO ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA IN 2011 FOR MOST CIVICS BETWEEN 2006-2009 HOWEVER SINCE MINE IS A 2010 IT DOES NOT FALL INTO THAT CATEGORY. YET IS DOES SEEM AS THOUGH THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED PROPERLY. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE ATTORNEY WHO HANDLED THE SUIT AGAINST HONDA AND IT WAS SUGGESTED I FILE A COMPLAINT HERE TO GET THE WORD OUT THAT THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN EXPAND THE CLASS WITHIN THE LAWSUIT. *TR
PURCHASED CAR NEW FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP. FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME AT APPROXIMATELY 15000 ALONG WITH A FAULTY CALIPER, THEY WERE REPLACED AGAIN IN APPROXIMATELY 30000 MILES (6 MONTHS LATER). NOW THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS COMPLETELY OFF AT JUST AROUND JUST OVER 34000 MILES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THE BRAKE PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR VEHICLE AS WELL AS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OUT OF CALIFORNIA. DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THERE VERY WELL COULD BE A LINK BETWEEN THE ALIGNMENT PROBLEM AND THE BRAKES. *JS
THERE HAVE BEEN THREE (3) FRONT END COLLISIONS ON THIS VEHICLE. 2 WERE DEER RELATED. THE FIRST ACCIDENT WAS A DEER HIT, AT 60 MPH., BODY SHOP SAID BECAUSE THE DEER HIT DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SECOND ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, DAUGHTER WAS TRAVELING 69 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. SHE TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET DOWN A DITCH AND BACK UP THE OTHER SIDE, STRIKING AN EMBANKMENT, COMING TO REST 2 FEET FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. THE VIRGINIA STATE POLICE OFFICER SAID AT THE TIME, HE COULDN'T BELIEVE THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS TOTALLY DISENGAGED FROM THE CAR. THE LAST ACCIDENT, JUNE 2013, YOUNGER DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN A 3 CAR ACCIDENT. SHE REAR ENDED THE CAR AHEAD OF HER WHO HAD REAR ENDED THE CAR AHEAD OF IT. WET ROADS WERE A FACTOR, HOWEVER, THIS WAS AGAIN A FRONT END COLLISION, WITH A SPEED OF 40+ MPH. WHILE WE ARE VERY THANKFUL THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED IN ANY OF THESE ACCIDENTS, IT'S CERTAIN THE AIRBAG IN THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST (IMA) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED BUT TO NO AVAIL.THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION BY THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BATTERY WAS ON THE VERGE OF FAILING AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE BATTERY UNTIL IT HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE BATTERY UNTIL THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO GENERATE A FAILURE CODE INDICATING THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED REPLACING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,400.

TWO DAYS AGO (9/27/12) I HAD TO TAKE TO HAVE MY REAR BEARING REPLACED AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED FRONT BRAKES AGAIN. NOW MILEAGE IS 44,500, SO ONLY ~18,000 MILES FROM LAST REPAIR. I THINK TWO BRAKE JOBS AT 40K MILES IS NOT RIGHT. *TR
I DROVE MY CAR ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY, SPEED LIMIT 70 MPH. ENTERING THE HIGHWAY MY CAR ACCELERATED FROM 70-79 BY ITSELF WITH MY ABS KICKING IN AT THE SAME TIME. NOT ALLOWING ME TO BRAKE. NEARLY CAUSING A PILE UP, I EXITED IMMEDIATELY TURNING INTO A SHOPPING CENTER TO PARK MY CAR. WITH TWO PASSENGERS IN THE CAR WITH ME, I PROCEEDED INTO THE LOT, UP A HILL WHEN I COULD FEEL MY CAR ACCELERATING BY ITSELF. WITH MY PASSENGERS IN DISBELIEF, I LIFTED MY RIGHT FOOT IN THE AIR SO THEY COULD SEE, MY CAR ACCELERATED FROM 0-21 MPH BY ITSELF, UP A HILL. SCARED OUT OF MY MIND, I PULLED MY CAR OVER AND PARKED IT. I CONTACTED HONDA, TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY "HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE" AND THAT THIS WAS THEIR FIRST TIME LOOKING INTO SUCH A POSSIBILITY. A COUPLE DAYS LATER AFTER THEY BLAMED THIS ISSUE ON MY "THIRD PARTY FLOOR MATS" AND ADVISED ME TO TAKE THEM OUT OF MY CAR, I DID. I DROVE WITHOUT THE FLOOR MAT FOR TWO WEEKS, TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS MY CAR ACTING UP AND NOT THE MATS. SURE ENOUGH, MY CAR ACTED UP 2 MORE TIMES IN THOSE TWO WEEKS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC, IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUNCH OF STOP LIGHTS. I WOULD BRAKE A LITTLE TOO EARLY & ATTEMPT TO COAST IN TRAFFIC TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I'D TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR WOULD FULLY ACCELERATE ALL BY ITSELF, CAUSING ME TO SLAM MY BRAKES. SECOND OCCURRENCE, WAS WHEN I WAS GETTING INTO MY CAR, TURNED IT ON, BUT NEVER PUT IT INTO GEAR OR EVEN SHUT MY DOOR, THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING WITH RPMS UP IN THE "REDS". MULTIPLE TIMES. AFTER TAKING MY CAR IN A SECOND TIME, THEY WERE ONCE AGAIN BLAMING THESE PROBLEMS ON MY FLOOR MATS AND THAT THEY WEREN'T GOING TO SERVICE OR TAKE CARE OF ANYTHING AT ALL, I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT TO FURTHER ENFORCE THAT THE 2010 HONDA CIVIC NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS HAVE FAILED. THE VISORS ARE MADE UP OF TWO HORIZONTAL PIECES OF PLASTIC SNAPPED TOGETHER. BOTH VISORS HAVE SEPARATED AND NO LONGER "GRIP" THE VISOR SWING ARM, THE METAL PIECE THAT ATTACHES THE VISOR TO THE CAR AND ALLOWS IT TO BE REPOSITIONED. ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST THE VISOR RESULTS IN THE TWO PIECES OF THE VISOR SEPARATING FROM EACH OTHER AND THE VISOR BECOMING DISENGAGED; MEANING, IT WILL NO LONGER ALLOW ITSELF TO BE ADJUSTED. IT WILL NO LONGER STAY IN ANY SET POSITION. ALL ATTEMPTS TO PUT IT BACK TO ITS RETRACTED POSITION AGAINST THE HEADLINER WILL RESULT IN IT JUST FALLING BACK DOWN TO THE NEUTRAL VERTICAL POSITION. I LEASED OUR BRAND NEW 2010 HONDA CIVIC ON 05/31/2010. PRIMARILY I USED THE VEHICLE TO COMMUTE FROM/TO WORK. I AM A VERY RESPONSIBLE DRIVER AND TOOK A GOOD CARE OF THE VEHICLE CHANGING OIL REGULARLY, CHECK LIQUIDS, ETC. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON A SUNNY DRY DAY ON 07/28/2011 IN THE LEFT LANE WITH AVERAGE SPEED 40 MPH, THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME SLOWED DOWN AND I APPLIED BRAKES AND THE BRAKES FAILED (DID NOT WORK). I HEARD A METAL SOUND AND PUSHED A PEDAL STRONGER. I THINK THE VEHICLE PROBABLY DID NOT SLOW AT ALL. I TURNED LEFT TO A SHOULDER IN ATTEMPT TO STOP A VEHICLE AND AVOID A DIRECT COLLISION WITH A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I BELIEVE I COULD GET MUCH WORSE INJURIES IF I HAD NOT DONE THIS TURN. HE SAID THAT HE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS EQUIPMENT FAILURE. HE SAID. "I CAN'T TRUST MY THINGS IN THE TRUNK WITH A VALET PERSON, AFTER THIS DISCOVERY." I WAS SHOCKED. SHORTLY AFTER THE SECOND SERVICE APPOINTMENT, THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE FRONT BRAKES GRABBING, AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD 18,000 MILES. THIS WAS IN DECEMBER, 2011. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER AT WHICH TIME THE FRONT PADS WERE FOUND TO BE IN VERY POOR CONDITION, AND WERE REPLACED. *TR

LEFT FRONT PADS HAD SIGNIFICANTLY UNEVEN WEAR ON THE SAME PAD FROM FRONT TO BACK AGAIN INDICATING SOMETHING IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS STICKING. TOOK THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALER WHERE THEY COULD ONLY REPEAT THE WORD "BRAKE PADS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY". I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT BRAKE PADS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY IF THEY ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND WEAR OUT. IF THEY DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND STICK, OVER HEAT AND DO NOT RETRACT IN THE FIRST YEAR, SOMETHING IS SIGNIFICANTLY WRONG IN THE DESIGN. I DISPUTED THIS WITH THE INDIVIDUAL OVER THE PHONE BC TO CHANGE THE BRAKES AT ONLY 15K MILES IS COMPLETELY UNHEARD OF. I ENDED UP HAVING MY FATHER GO TO HAVE THE ISSUE CHECKED ANYWAY BY THEM. THEY STATED THAT MY BRAKES WERE DIRTY AND NEEDED A CLEANING. WELL SOON AFTER THAT MY BRAKES STARTED DOING THE SAME NOISE AGAIN. MY GUESS IS THAT THEY SPRAYED IT WITH NOISE DAMPENING SPRAY. ANYWAY, I HAVE LOOKED THIS UP ONLINE AND THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. BEFORE SOMEONE DIES CAN YOU PLEASE PUSH THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE. SECOND INCIDENT, AGAIN THE METALLIC GRINDING SOUND HEARD FROM THE FRONT END AT 19,344 MILES ON 6/9/12. TECHNICIAN FOUND FRONT BRAKES PADS WORN OUT. HONDA DEALER REPLACED FRONT BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AT ANOTHER OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE OF $265.32. THIRD INCIDENT, AGAIN THE METALLIC GRINDING SOUND HEARD FROM THE FRONT END AT 30,906 MILES ON 8/10/13. TECHNICIAN FOUND FRONT BRAKES PADS WORN OUT. HONDA DEALER REPLACED FRONT BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AT ANOTHER OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE OF $528.25! PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT SINCE PURCHASE THE CIVIC HAS UNDERGONE 3 TIMES REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR RESURFACING, I.E., AN AVERAGE YEARLY OCCURENCE WHICH CUSTOMER THINKS IS OUT OF THE ORDINARY.
