CR INSPECTED IN DEC 27 2013 . INSPECTION VERIFIES BRAKES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE PASSES INSPECTION. TWO WEEKS LATER BRAKES BEGAN MAKING NOISES. TOOK TO HONDA DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD BRAKES REQUIRED REPLACEMENT WITH ROTORS RESURFACED DEALER INDICATES VIRTUALLY NO BREAKS. UNSURE HOW CONDITION OF BRAKES WERE MISSED DURING INSPECTION. I FEEL BRAKES PADS WORE PREMATURELY. *TR
CAR WAS GOING AROUND A CORNER AND HYDRO PLANED. THE REAR END OF THE CAR SLID TO THE LEFT AND I TURNED INTO THE SPIN HOWEVER LOST CONTROL AND THE CAR ROLLED OVER TWICE LANDING UPSIDE DOWN. NO AIR EMPLOYED FROM THE ROLL OVER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN UTILIZING THE ELECTRIC KEY FOB, THE DOORS WOULD ENGAGE AS IF LOCKING BUT WOULD NOT ACTUALLY SECURE THE VEHICLE. UPON CHECKING THE DOORS, THE CONTACT FOUND THAT THE DOORS WERE NOT LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000. *TR
DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON FOR AIRBAG SYSTEM. TOOK TO A SHOP AND THEY READ TO CODES TO DETERMINE THAT IT WAS A FAULTY PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT AN ENGINEER WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINEER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,785.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT STAY UP. NEED TO GET A REPLACEMENT BECAUSE HONDA REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE VISOR HAS BROKEN, SPLIT APART. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE THAT WILL REQUIRE REPLACING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR INDEPENDENTLY DETACHED WHEN PLACED IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. SIX MONTHS LATER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR DETACHED WHEN PLACED IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WAS REPLACED ONCE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR WAS REPLACED TWICE AT HIS EXPENSE; HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENTS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
MAIN HEADLIGHTS FAILED FOR A TIME PERIOD (~15 MINUTES) AT VARIOUS TIMES. HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND PROBLEM OCCURRED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. THE LAST TIME WAS LAST WEEK WHEN THERE WAS A TERRIBLE STORM. FIRST TIME WHEN IT WAS SNOWING REALLY HARD. THE OTHER TWO TIMES THE WEATHER WAS JUST FINE, NO RAIN OR SNOW. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALER TWICE, BUT BOTH TIMES THE DEALER SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALER, UNDER MY ORIGINAL WARRANTY PERIOD, BECAUSE THE A/C WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT "ROAD DEBRIS" PUNCTURED A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER COIL, WHICH IS THE VERY FIRST THING BEHIND THE FRONT BUMPER. NOTHING IS VISIBLE THAT WOULD PROTECT THE DELICATE COIL FROM NORMAL DRIVING. INSURANCE WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I CALLED SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERS, ALL OF WHICH ADMITTED THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. I CALLED HONDA, AND WAS ADVISED THEIR POSITION IS NOT TO OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AS THEY DO NOT FEEL THIS IS AN EQUIPMENT OR DESIGN FLAW. SINCE THERE IS NO RETROFIT AVAILABLE, NOTHING PROVIDES PROTECTION FROM THE DAMAGE HAPPENING AGAIN, AFTER A COSTLY REPAIR BILL. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE, AND FOUND A SETTLED CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT BETWEEN HONDA AND HONDA OWNERS FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. "SPECIFICALLY, THE COMPLAINT ALLEGED THAT THE CONDENSER WAS PLACED IN A POSITION THAT WAS VULNERABLE TO CONTACT FROM ROCKS, PEBBLES AND OTHER ROAD DEBRIS DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON PAVED ROADWAYS, AND THAT HONDA FAILED TO DESIGN THE VEHICLE EITHER TO WITHSTAND THIS IMPACT OR WITH A GUARD OR GRILL THAT WOULD PROTECT THE CONDENSER DESPITE THE 'CLEAR VULNERABILITY' OF THE CONDENSER TO THIS DEBRIS CONTACT." - ALIN V. HONDA MOTOR CO. LTD. ET AL., CASE NUMBER [XXX]. THE LAWSUIT SETTLED IN SEPTEMBER 2011. THIS LAWSUIT DID NOT INCLUDE CIVICS, BUT LOCAL DEALERS AND VEHICLE BLOGS SHOW THAT THIS IS, AND HAS BEEN, A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FROM BACK BEFORE THIS LAWSUIT . HONDA CLAIMED I WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO CALL THEM WITH THIS ISSUE. I AM TRYING TO WORK THIS OUT WITHOUT PARTICIPATING IN A CURRENT CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT INVESTIGATION FOR THIS ISSUE, FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL. IT IS VERY DISTRESSING THAT HONDA WAS WELL AWARE OF THE DESIGN FLAW AND FAULTY/FLIMSY MATERIAL CAUSING THIS ISSUE, AND DID EXACTLY NOTHING TO PREVENT FUTURE ISSUES. I WAS STOPPED IN A PARKING GARAGE AND INTENDED TO PULL INTO AN OPEN SPACE ON MY LEFT. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AND MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. IT CRASHED INTO THE CAR TO THE RIGHT OF THE OPEN SPACE AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, PUSHING THE OTHER CAR INTO THE CAR TO ITS RIGHT. I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKES DURING THE ENTIRE INCIDENT BUT THEY WERE NOT FUNCTIONAL. MY CAR FINALLY PUSHED THE OTHER CAR OUT OF THE WAY AND MY CAR SLAMMED INTO THE CONCRETE BLOCK IN FRONT OF THE OPEN SPACE AND STOPPED. HAD THE CONCRETE BLOCK NOT BEEN THERE, I WOULD HAVE FLOWN OVER THE SIDE OF THE THIRD LEVEL OF THIS PARKING GARAGE. MY FOOT WAS IN NO WAY ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME. ALSO, A NON-HONDA MECHANIC EXPERIENCED THE SAME REVVING ISSUE WHEN HE INSPECTED THE CAR AFTER THE INCIDENT. HOWEVER, HONDA CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND WILL NOT REFUND US THE COST OF DAMAGES WE PAID OUT OF POCKET. BUT THEY DID BUY THE CAR BACK AND BUY OUT THE REMAINING 6 MONTHS OF MY LEASE, INDICATING THEY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT WERE NOT WILLING TO OWN UP TO IT. *TR
NEED NEW FRONT BRAKES AND ONLY 20,000 MILES; WAS TOLD IT'S MY IN-CITY DRIVING, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THERE'S A LOT OF OTHER FOLKS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SAW THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR SAME PROBLEM FOR 2008, 2009 AND 2010 MODELS... *TR
I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC 2011, I DON'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE THAT MUCH. I ONLY HAVE 24800 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I GOT IT NEW. I ALSO HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW. VEHICLE ROLLOVER CRASH. FIRE SEEMS TO BE FROM A RECALLED FUEL VALVE. IF MY FAMILY BURNT ALIVE IN THAT VEHICLE I WOULD HAVE A SICK VENDETTA FOR THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NON REPORTING OF SAFETY CONCERNS TO ME AS AN INSURED DRIVER. OPERATING MY VEHICLE ON 2 LANE STREET IN ASHBURN VIRGINIA, APPLIED BRAKES ON CAR LIGHTLY AND BRAKES SEEM TO LOCK UP, AUTO SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND I LANDED INTO POND. ON 03-16-2013 I WAS DRIVING ON I-5 FREEWAY NORTH THROUGH ORANGE COUNTY CA. WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN, MY CAR`S BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT ANY RESISTANCE AND THE CAR DIDN'T SLOW DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY HITTING THE CURB. THERE WERE NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS LIT AT ANY TIME INDICATING TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. I HAD CAR TOWED TO NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME I MUST HAVE DRIVEN OVER A PIECE OF RUBBER DEBRIS. THIS PIECE OF RUBBER DAMAGED RIGHT WHEEL EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE, CAUSING RIGHT REAR WHEEL TO DRAG AND BOIL THE BRAKE FLUID, THUS CAUSING TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL.I FOUND OUT BOTH REAR BRAKES WERE DAMAGED, EVEN THOUGH ONLY THE RIGHT EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE WAS DAMAGED. I HAD TO PAY$1300 FOR REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS UNDER FULL FACTORY WARRANTY. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO AND ASKED FOR AN EXPLANATION HOW IS THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON 2011 HONDA CIVIC DESIGNED IF A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE CAN BE CAUSED BY A PIECE OF RUBBER DEBRIS. I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW, HOW A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE CAN HAPPEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. MY OTHER QUESTION WAS WHAT AMERICA HONDA MOTOR CO. WILL DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN ON MINE AND OTHER 2011 CIVIC MODELS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE BRIGHTLY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE LIGHTS WERE OPERATING AS DESIGNED AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO MAKE THE LIGHT BRIGHTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT ONLY MANUFACTURER APPROVED LIGHT BULBS WERE ALLOWED IN THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED, OFFERING NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ON 1/15/13 I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE FRONT OF MY 2011 HONDA CIVIC STRUCK THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE IMPACT CAUSED ME TO STRIKE THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AN MY SEAT BELT WILL NOT ENGAGE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR WHEEL BEARING WAS NOT DEFECTIVE BUT THE TIRES WERE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS EVERY 6 MONTHS DINCE WE PURCHASED IN JULY 2012. THE CAR HAD VERY LIW MILES WHEN PURCHASED AND NOW HAS 90,000.MILES.THE MECHANIC SAYS IT IS NOT NORMAL TO NEED REPLACEMENT SO OFTEN. BRAKES BUCKLE WHEN COMING TO A SUDDEN STOP.
WE PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE AS A CERTIFIED CAR IN 2012. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WEEK OR SO I NOTICE THAT THE CAR VIBRATE OR SHAKES WHEN IT IS ON IDLE. IT IS EVEN WORSE WHEN AC IS ON. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT SOMETIME IT HAPPEN SOMETIME IT DOESN'T. I HAVE MADE A COMPLAINT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. I WAS EVEN ADVICE BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT TO USE PREMIUM GAS SPECIFICALLY " CHEVRON GAS STATION". BUT DIDN'T SOLVE ANYTHING. I COULDN'T REALLY PROVE IT IS SHAKING BECAUSE IT IS ON AND OFF. JUST STUMBLE IN TO THIS WEBSITE I WANT TO SHARE MY FRUSTRATION TOO. AT 43000 MILES IT IS THE SAME SHAKING VIBRATING THAT IS HAPPENING. I'VE REPLACED ALL TIRES AT 32000 BECAUSE IT WAS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE ON IT SINCE IT WAS BALD. REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKES AT 40K SO I MIGHT BE HAVING SOME ISSUE WITH THAT TOO. I OWN A 2006 HONDA PILOT WITH 120K MILES ON IT AND THAT SUV DRIVES WAY SMOOTHER THAN MY CIVIC. FOR MY PILOT THE BRAKE LASTED FOR 70K MILES BEFORE REPLACING IT. *TR
FRONT BRAKE PADS COMPLETELY BARE. I AM AN OLDER WOMAN DRIVER WHO DOES NOT ENDURE MUCH STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. NEVER OWNED A CAR WHERE BRAKE PADS FAILED/WORN IN JUST 1 1/2 YEARS OF DRIVING. ALL OTHER CARS OWNED BY FAMILY HAVE BRAKE PADS LAST 80K MILES. REPLACING PADS TODAY, BUT WAS TOLD BY HONDA REP THAT IT IS MY FAULT DUE TO MY DRIVING HABITS. HAD I KNOWN WHAT I NOW KNOW. OR SEEN THE ONLINE CUSTOMER/OWNER'S COMMENTS REGARDING THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BRAKE ISSUES THAT DATE BACK ALMOST A DECADE, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THIS CAR. *TR
THE SUN VISOR FOR THE CAR HAS BEEN REPLACED EVERY YEAR SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, AS IT MELTS OFF IN THE SUMMER HEAT. THE VISOR WILL HANG AND BLOCK VISIBILITY FOR THE DRIVER CAUSING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. AFTER 7 REPLACEMENTS, THE VISOR HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE DURING SUNRISE OR SUNSET. I WILL LIKELY HAVE TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS REASON, AS I CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE IT FOR A LARGE PORTION OF THE DAY.
BRAKES WORE COMPLETELY DOWN AT 18K MILES ON A BRAND NEW LEASE WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE LASTED ABOUT 30K MILES. THE FRONT BRAKES ON MY HONDA CIVIC HAD TO BE REPLACED THE FIRST TIME AT 17,000 MILES. IT HAD FAILED RIGHT AT THE END OF THE HONDA 1 YEAR WARRANTY (THE FIRST DATE IS ESTIMATED BUT I CAN DIG IT OUT FROM THE HONDA DEALER IF THIS BECOMES AN ISSUE) I HAVE ONLY THE ESTIMATED FIRST DATE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FLUKE AND HONDA COVERED IT UNDER WARRANTY SO I DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. HOWEVER, MY NEXT SET OF BRAKES FAILED AT 15,000 MILES. THE ACTUAL DATE WAS 7/8/2013 ON THIS FAILURE. AGAIN THEY HAVE WARANTIED THE BRAKES. I AM ON MY 3RD SET OF BRAKES AND THE CAR HAS NOT EVEN HIT 40-50,000 MILES. THAT IS IF MY BRAKES WERE BEING RIDDEN HARD. AT SOME POINT I AM CONCERNED THAT HONDA WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM THAT APPEARS TO BE WELL KNOWN. THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE HONDA CIVICS. IT APPEARS THEY ARE NOT RECALLING THIS AND ARE LEAVING PEOPLE TWISTING IN THE WIND. I DON'T KNOW OF A MORE CRITICAL COMPONENT TO A VEHICLES SAFETY THAN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. IT CAN HARM BOTH DRIVER, PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER MOTORISTS AND CAUSE A FINANCIAL CALAMITY TO BOTH DRIVER AND OTHER PARTIES. PLEASE MAKE HONDA FIGURE OUT THIS PROBLEM AND PROVIDE A SOLUTION SO THAT WE CAN DRIVE A SAFE CAR. MY SUN VISORS HAVE SPLIT OPEN AT THE SEAM AND DO NOT STAY UP. THEY OBSTRUCT MY VISION, ESPECIALLY DRIVING AT NIGHT. I LEASED THIS CIVIC ON FEBRUARY 2011 AND IN DECEMBER 2011 10 MONTHS LATER THE BREAKS AND ROTORS WERE GONE AND ONLY ONE SIDE. ODD AFTER HAVING HAD THEM SERVICED IN SEPTEMBER AND THE DEALER GIVING ME 100% LIFE ON THEM. HAD TO PAY TO FIX BRAKES AND ROTORS. TEN MONTHS LATER SEPTEMBER 2012 AGAIN BRAKES OUT HAS TO CHANGE AGAIN. NOW AGAIN SEPTEMBER 2013 BRAKES AND ROTORS. WITHOUT ANY SIGNALS THAT MY BRAKES WERE WEARING OUT. NOW MORE COSTS TO FIX THIS IN A 2011 HONDA CIVIC . THE VISOR SPLITS, AND CAUSES A DISTRCTION TO THE DRIVER BY FLOPPING DOWN, AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING A DISTRACTION TO LED TO AN ACCIDENT. IN RESEARCHING THIS, HONDA WAS SUED FOR 2006 - 2009 MODELS FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM - AND LOST (YET NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY). I SPOKE TO AMERICAN HONDA, THEY SAID THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE 2011 MODEL BEING A PROBLEM. THAT IS NOT TRUE. I SPOKE TO THE DEALER, SAN TAN HONDA. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS HOT SO THEY SPLIT. MAYBE THEY SHOULD ONLY SELL THESE CARS IN ALASKA, AND NOT ARIZONA. THERE ARE NO GREY DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISORS FOR THE 2011 HONDA CIVIC AVAILABLE IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY ARE COMING IN. THAT SHOULD BE AN INDICATIOR OF A QUALITY PROBLEM. HONDA IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, AND HAS NOT ISSUED ANY NOTICE AND HAS DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS, NOR DONE THE REDESIGN FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART. PLEASE HELP TO HOLD HONDA ACCOUNTABLE TO STOCK PARTS, AND EXTEND THE WARRANTY OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART. THEY CANNOT SEEM TO LEARN THE LESSON OF THEIR LAWSUIT ON PREVIOUS MODELS. CONSISTENT PREMATURE AND UNEVEN TIRE WARE IS THE MAJOR PROBLEM ON THIS CAR. THE REAR TIRES STARTED VIBRATING. I TOOK THEM CARE TO A TIRE PLACE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WENT BACK DUE TO NON-ROTATION OF THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT 6,000 MILES, BUT WERE STILL DAMAGED. THE ORIGINAL TIRES HAD A 24,000 WARE LIFE. SUBSEQUENT TO REPLACING THE ORIGINAL TIRES, I HAVE PUT 90,000 MILE MICHELIN TIRES ON THE CARE. WITH CONSISTENT ROTATION, THE TIRES WARE OUT WITH THE WASHBOARD EFFECT BETWEEN 25,000 AND 30,000 MILES. AT 100,000 MILES, I HAVE REPLACE THE TIRE 3 TIMES WITH 90,000 MILE TIRES. *TR
THIS CAR HAS A MAJOR BRAKE ISSUE. BOTH FRONT PADS HAVE WORN BY 75% AT ONLY 6,000 MILES, AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 9,800 MILES. WORN OUT AGAIN AT 16,000 MILES. AS I WAS FOLLOWING A ROW OF CARS INTO A DRIVEWAY OF A SHOPPING AREA, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE JUST TO ROLL A FEW INCHES SINCE TRAFFIC WAS BUMPER TO BUMPER. UNEXPECTEDLY MY CAR LUNGED FORWARD ON TO THE DRIVEWAY HITTING THE TRUCK TO MY RIGHT AND A CAR TO MY LEFT THAT WAS EXITING THE DRIVEWAY. BEFORE I COULD MAKE SENSE OF WHAT HAPPENED, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY THE HONDA DEALER BEFORE IT WENT TO THE REPAIR SHOP. HONDA RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED MY CAR TO ACCELERATE IN SUCH A MANNER. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS $7800. *TR

OWN A 2010 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. OVER THE LAST 18 MONTHS HAVE GOTTEN 35-42 MPG DEPENDING ON CITY OR HIGHWAY. IT WAS DECIDED BY THE SERVICE DEPT TO REPLACE BATTERY. BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND IS KEEPING A SOMEWHAT BETTER CHARGE BUT HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN POWER AND THE AUTO STOP FUNCTION ONLY WORKING OCCASIONALLY, ALSO NOTICED A DECREASE OF MILEAGE DOWN TO 23-25 MPG IN CITY. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO SERVICE AND AFTER THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REVIEWING WITH HONDA "TECH" PEOPLE WAS TOLD THAT PERFORMANCE WAS HOW THEY INTENDED TO DECREASE WEAR ON BATTERIES LIFE. A CAR WITH NO POWER TO GO UP SMALL HILLS AND A 25MPG AVERAGE IS NOT WHAT I SPENT 27000$ ON AND THAT IT IS CERTAINLY NOT WHAT HONDA ADVERTISED THE CAR TO BE. *TR
2011 HONDA CIVIC WITH 4000 MILES. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND COMPLAINED ABOUT A BURNED SMELL WHEN BRAKING WHILE DRIVING UPHILL AFTER THE CAR STOPS. NO HEAVY BRAKING THOUGH. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. AT 7300 MILES AND A TOTAL OF 7 MONTHS OF USE THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING OR NOT. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID MY BRAKE PADS HAD ZERO % LEFT, METAL TO METAL. THEY BLAMED THE WAY THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AND TREATED ME LIKE I WAS SOME JERK THAT WAS DRAG RACING EVERY DAY AND TOASTED THE BRAKES. I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT I DROVE THE SAME WAY (AS A NORMAL PERSON BY THE WAY, CITY AND FREEWAY) AND DID NOT HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKES UNTIL OVER 33000 MILES! THIS IS RIDICULOUS, EVEN A VERY BAD DRIVER THAT KEEPS HITTING HIS BRAKES SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH 7300 MILES IN A COMPACT CAR. HONDA DECLINED ANY SERVICING AND DECLINED TO FIX OR EVEN LOOK DEEPER FOR A POSSIBLE PROBLEM. WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $100 FOR A 5 MINUTE BRAKE PAD INSPECTION... A JOKE! *TT
THE TRUNK LATCH , ONCE LOCKED BY A KEY, WILL NOT ENGAGE AND OPEN THE TRUNK FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. I BROUGHT MY AUTO TO THE DEALER TWICE. IT OCCASIONALLY WILL OPEN, BUT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS PRESENT AND ABLE TO SEE THIS PROBLEM. HE WAS BAFFLED. BUT THEY SAID I USED TOO MUCH FORCE TO UNLOCK THE TRUNK. THIS AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR OVER 6 MONTHS! THIS IS MY 2ND HONDA CIVIC AND I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE BEFORE. *KB
