I HAVE A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. AFTER 20 MINUTES DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENS UP A LOT AND THE CAR STARTS DRIFTING LEFT OR RIGHT. THEREFORE, I HAVE TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION IT IS DRIFTING IN. THIS OCCURS EVERY COUPLE MINUTES. I HAVE TO ESSENTIALLY DRIVE IN A ZIG ZAG FORMATION TO STAY IN THE SAME LANE. AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ONTO LOCAL ROADS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTS ON LOCAL ROADS BUT IS LESS FREQUENT THAN ON THE HIGHWAY. HAVING THIS MUCH DIFFICULTLY STEERING THE CAR IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND CAN LEAD TO CAR ACCIDENTS. AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE CAR HAS ALREADY PASSED, THEY QUOTED ME OVER $3,000. THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL BY HONDA ON THE 2017 AND 2018 CIVICS FOR THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM (EPS). BUT, THE EPS IN THE 2016 MODEL GETS OVERLOOKED. 2016 CIVIC DRIVERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SHELL OUT SO MUCH MONEY TO GET A CAR WITH A PROPERLY FUNCTION EPS.
I PURCHASED A 2016 HONDA CIVIC FOR MY SON IN 2016. I RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT AC PROBLEMS THIS YEAR. I CONTACTED MY SON AND ASKED HIM IF HE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C. HE REPORTED THAT IT DOESN'T BLOW VERY MUCH AIR AND THE AIR NEVER GETS COLD. SO I HAD HIM TAKE TO DEALERSHIP. HE WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL FOR A/C AFFECTED ONLY ONE PART OF THE UNIT WHICH THEY COULD FIX UNDER NO COST...BUT THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN THE AIR COMPRESSOR AND THIS WAS NOT COVERED. THEY QUOTED OVER $2,000 TO REPLACE AIR COMPRESSOR. I FOUND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE AND RESEARCHED TO FIND OUT WHAT CAUSES A HOLE IN THE COMPRESSOR THAT MAKES IT BEYOND REPAIR AND THE ONLY INFORMATION I COULD FIND WERE OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2016 HONDA CIVIC FAULTY AIR COMPRESSORS. AGAIN WHEN I TESTED IT MYSELF, IT WAS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR AND SOMETIMES NOT BLOWING AIR AT ALL. SINCE I PURCHASED VEHICLE, IT SEEMS LIKE SYSTEM WAS NOT FULLY CAPABLE OF DEFROSTING WINDOWS IN FRONT AND BACK AND FIGURED THE DESIGN WAS BAD.
I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IT HAS FAILED TO START. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND SAW THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT GAVE INSTRUCTIONS ON A POSSIBLE REMEDY -- WHICH INCLUDED GOING UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR AND FINAGLING WITH THE BATTERY, ETC. MY HUSBAND TRIED THIS REMEDY AND ONCE MY CAR STARTED, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT MY BATTERY WAS DEAD; THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. MONTHS LATER, WITH MY NEW BATTERY, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. MY HUSBAND TRIED THE REMEDY AGAIN BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I TOLD HIM THAT THEY SHOULD LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS NOT JUST THE BATTERY. TO ME, IT WAS SOME KIND OF ELECTRICAL GLITCH. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OF THE 'NO-START', THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. AT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS BEING LEFT IN A VULNERABLE POSITION WITH A VERY UNRELIABLE VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM THAT A GOOGLE SEARCH WOULD SHOW THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING WITH MANY HONDA CIVICS AND THAT THIS MUST BE A KNOWN ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE CONTACT ME AND THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I TOLD MYSELF THAT IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, I WOULD DO NOTHING MYSELF. I WOULD GET MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. WELL, OF COURSE, IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AT 9 MONTHS PREGNANT. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT AGAIN HAS NOT STARTED. THE CAR REMAINS IN ACCESSORY MODE AND THE BRAKES AND SHIFT GEAR IS LOCKED. I TRULY THINK I HAVE A LEMON VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS COMPANY IS REFUSING TO LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS ISSUE. TO NOTE, EACH TIME THE CAR HASN'T STARTED, IT HAS BEEN AFTER I'VE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RETURNED TO IT A SHORT TIME LATER, EITHER AT HOME ON THE STREET OR AT WORK IN THE PARKING LOT.
VEHICLE TOUCH SCREEN TURNED GREEN. CAMERAS STOPPED WORKING. SCREEN BEEPS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN HANDHELD DEVICE IS CONNECTED TO THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN. WILL BEGIN TO WORK AGAIN AFTET A FEW MINUTES PASS.
STEERING BECOMES JERKY AND TENDS TO STICK AFTER DRIVING AROUND FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES. RATHER THAN A SMOOTH TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL IT REQUIRES A BIT EXTRA FORCE TO FREE UP THE STEER WHEEL TO MAKE EVEN MINOR ADJUSTMENTS. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO MAKE A MINOR ADJUSTMENT TO STAY IN MY LANE REQUIRES A BIT OF EXTRA FORCE TO FREE UP THE "STUCK" STEERING WHEEL BEFORE I MAKE THE MINOR ADJUSTMENT, BUT TO MAKE THE MINOR ADJUSTMENT THE EXTRA FORCE REQUIRED TO FREE UP THE STUCK STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES CAUSES A MAJOR ADJUSTMENT LIKE DRIFTING INTO ANOTHER LANE. I'VE DETERMINED THAT THIS NORMALLY OCCURS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 20-30 MINUTES. HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL AS JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN. PURCHASED CAR NOV 2019 THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SHORTLY AFTER I GOT THE CAR I REALIZED IT WHILE TRAVELING FROM TEXAS TO ARKANSAS.HAD AN ALIGNMENT BOUGHT NEW TIRES THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. STILL DID HELP. *TR
ENGINE OIL LEVEL CONTINUOUSLY CREEPING ABOVE MAX FILL LINE AFTER EVERY OIL CHANGE. NOTE: OIL MEASURED AT SAME LOCATION IN GARAGE AND AT SAME TEMPERATURE, AND OIL ALLOWED SUFFICIENT TIME TO DRAIN BACK INTO OIL PAN.
I PURCHASE THIS CAR IN JUNE OF 2019; I HAD THE CAR FOR APPROX 5 MONTHS. I TOLD THE HONDA DEALER MECHANIC THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I BROUGHT IT BACK IN SEPTEMBER. THEY CLAIM THEY CHECKED THE BRAKES AND EVERYTHING WAS FIND. I HAD A MAINTENANCE CHECK AND AN OIL CHECK. A MONTH IN HALF LATER I EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT IN SEPTEMBER. ON 11/14/19 I DROVE MY CAR TO A LOCATION NO PROBLEMS. I PARKED THE CAR . WHEN I WENT BACK TO TURN ON THE CAR THAT'S WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON SAYING ELECTRICAL BRAKE PROBLEM. I READ THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL BRAKE SYSTEM. I WONDER DID THIS CAR EVER GOT FIXED FROM THE RECALL. TURNED MY CAR ON AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT BEGIN FLASHING STATING ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM. THE RED LIGHT CONTINUED BLINKING. THE CAR WAS IN PARK WHEN THIS HAPPEN. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. I DROVE THE CAR ON WITH THE WARNING LIGHTS STILL ON.
RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA ABOUT A/C CONDENSER LEAKS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, SAID THAT CONDENSER IS FINE THAT IS THE COMPRESSOR THAT IS LEAKING. TOTAL JOB COST IS OVER $1200. CALLED HONDA, SAID THAT COMPRESSOR IS NOT COVERED IN WARRANTY EXTENSION.
My infotainment system has been malfunctioning for roughly 4 year now. I bought my 2016 Honda Civic Touring in 2019 from Hagerstown Kia in Hagerstown Maryland. Several months after I purchased the car, my infotainment randomly does things on its own like back out of navigation apps and return to Home Screen or randomly turn on the blind spot camera. This is a major safety concern for me and other drivers because I have to fool with the infotainment system for several minutes so that I can go back to my navigation screen and know where to go and also be able to control the car’s temperature. This malfunction is very distracting therefore causing potential harm to me or other drivers. I see that there is an ongoing class lawsuit for this exact issue “Constance Chiulli v. American Honda Motor Co. Inc., et al., Case No. [XXX] in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.” Next time this malfunction occurs, I will take a video and I can provide that as proof to validate my case. TODAY I RETURNED FROM HONDA OF MARIN AFTER HAVING MY STARTER REPLACED. THE PART # IS 31200-5BA-A52. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE (PART AND SERVICE) TO BE REIMBURSED. THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED WORK AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE AT 63500.
ON 10-31-19, DRIVING MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC 1.5 TURBO ENGINE TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL. CAR WAS DRIVING WELL, UNTIL A REACH ABOUT 1 MILE, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THE CAR LOSS POWER AND CAN ONLY DRIVE UP TO 15 MPH. I HAVE TO DRIVE MY CAR BACK HOME AND GET MY OTHER CAR. THE HONDA NEVER REGAINS NORMAL POWER. THE SAME DATE IN THE EVENING, I DROVE THE HONDA FOR ABOUT 3 MILES AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND NEVER LOSS POWER. THE FOLLOWING DATE, I DROVE THE CAR AND SUDDENLY AGAIN LOSS POWER WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN A BLOCK AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. DROVE BACK MY HONDA BACK TO MY HOUSE WITH THE CAR NEVER REGAINING NORMAL POWER. THE HONDA CIVIC ONLY DRIVES WELL FOR LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AND THEN SUDDENLY LOSS POWER, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A TURN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN THE CAR LOSS POWER IT ONLY DRIVES UP TO 15 MPH (WHICH TAKES SEVERAL SECONDS TO REACH 15 MPH) AND NEVER REGAIN NORMAL POWER. THIS LOSS OF POWER STARTED ON 10-31-19, WHICH WAS A VERY COOL DAY ABOUT 24-DEGREE FAHRENHEIT. MY CAR IS NOT DRIVER ABLE ANY LONGER. NOW THAT THIS HAPPEN, I RESEARCH PROBLEMS WITH 2016 CIVIC AND FOUND OUT THAT HONDA HAD AN ISSUE WITH 1.5 TURBO ENGINE SINCE 2017. ONE MONTH AND HALF PRIOR TO THIS HAPPEN, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER SERVICES TWICE AND ONLY WANT TO CHARGE ME WITH THINGS THAT THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER AND COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. HONDA DEALER SHOULD HAD KNOWN THE PROBLEMS MY CAR HAS ARE RELATE TO OIL DILUTION IN THE ENGINE, BUT DECIDED NOT TO ADDRESS IT. NOW, I HAVE A CAR THAT IS NOT DRIVER ABLE AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. HONDA PLACE MY FAMILY LIFE IN DANGER, SUCH THAT THE STREET AROUND OUR CITY, CARS DRIVES BETWEEN 55 TO 70 MPH. THIS EASILY COULD CAUSE A CAR TO RE-END OR T-BONE THE CAR WHILE MAKING A TURN ON A BUSY TRAFFIC STREET.
I PURCHASED A USED 2016 HONDA CIVIC TOURING AND DIDN'T NOTICE THIS PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE I DIDN'T DRIVE IT LONG ENOUGH ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGINS TO DRIFT EVER SO SLIGHTLY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. WHEN I GO TO CORRECT, THE STEERING WHEEL RESISTS. IT DOESN'T FREEZE BUT IT SORT OF "STICKS" UNTIL I APPLY A BIT MORE PRESSURE, AFTER WHICH IT SUDDENLY RELEASES, CORRECTS, AND ACTS COMPLETELY NORMAL. MOMENTS LATER HOWEVER, IT DRIFTS THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, AND I AM FORCED TO REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. END RESULT IS I BEGIN DRIFTING SLIGHTLY BACK AND FORTH DOWN THE HIGHWAY REPEATEDLY, ALL THE WHILE FIGHTING WITH A STEERING WHEEL THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO LET GO. I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE FORUMS AND SOME HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S EPS RACK. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPLACE THIS. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS THE CAR WILL MOMENTARILY APPLY THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY RATHER HARD FOR A PERIOD OF A SECOND OR LESS. THIS OCCURS WHEN ON A HIGHWAY AND DRIVING WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND WHEN PASSING A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. IT APPEARS TO HAPPEN ONLY UNDER CERTAIN SITUATIONS SUCH AS SUNLIGHT ANGLE AND THE COLOR OR REFLECTION FROM THE TRUCK ARE INTERFERING WITH THE CARS SENSING BRAKES CAN ALSO BE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED RATHER HARD WHEN EXITING A HIGHWAY RAMP WITHOUT USING A TURN SIGNAL. THIS CAN HAPPEN WITHOUT THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL APPLIED SO I SUSPECT IT IS RELATED TO THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE FEATURE. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE NEW AND THESE EVENTS HAVE OCCURRED MORE THEN A DOZEN TIMES. ON A TRIP DRIVING FROM FLORIDA TO PENNSYLVANIA ON RT 95 IT HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES. VERY FRIGHTENING TO HAVE THE BRAKES APPLIED SPONTANEOUSLY AT 70 MILES/HR WHEN PASSING A TRUCK. I HAVE ASKED ABOUT THIS DURING SERVICE AT A HONDA DEALER AND THEY REPORTED EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY.
ON 10/11/2019 AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. HAD TO REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. REPLACED CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR. ON 06/15/2021 AC stopped blowing cold air AGAIN. Just fixed this, ~ 14,000 miles later.
STEERING WHEEL IS PEELING OFF LEAVING STICKY RESIDUE UNDERNEATH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL TAPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DIAGNOSED BY HONDA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V074000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL LIGHTS TURN ON AND THE CAR LOCKS, I CAN'T MOVE IT FROM THE P (PARK) SHIFT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN THE LAST 2 1/2 MONTHS, 3 TIMES.
STEERING THE CAR IS DIFFICULT. WHEN THE CAR DRIFTS OR YOU TURN THE CAR IN EITHER DIRECTION THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS. THIS CAUSES YOU TO OVER CORRECT TO BREAK FREE THE STICKING SENSATION OR CAUSES YOU TO DRIFT EXCESSIVELY TO EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT. CONTROLLING THE CAR TAKES MORE FORCE THAN IT SHOULD REQUIRE AND I STILL CAN'T ENSURE I CAN DRIVE IT SAFELY. CAR IS A 2016 AND I'VE READ SEVERAL OTHERS WITH THE SAME CAR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO FIX BY CHANGING OUT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR ($1550) BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN INTERMITTENT BUT SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MOVING AT AROUND 40MPH. IN PART DUE TO THE LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD ONCE BRAKING POWER WAS REGAINED. THE CAR DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE PIN THE ISSUE TO AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FAILURE IN THE BRAKE CONTROL UNIT (HONDA ERROR CODES V300-49 AND V3003-68) AND RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE VSA MODULATOR UNIT. REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE DONE ON THE VEHICLE JUST A MONTH PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP INDICATED NO OBSERVED ISSUES WITH BRAKING. ATTACHED IS THE INVOICE OF THE VSA UNIT REPLACEMENT WORK PERFORMED AS RECOMMENDED.
THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS HOT AIR.
STICKY STEERING WHEEL. SUBTLE MOVEMENTS CAUSE RESISTANCE AND FORCE ME TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL IN A SPECIFIC DIRECTION. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER YOU'VE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 30-40 MINUTES. CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 2016.
REPORTS FURTHER ALLEGE THAT THE MALFUNCTION IN THE CIVIC A/C CONDENSERS, COMPRESSORS CREATE RISKS FOR DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE VEHICLES' SYSTEMS AND REFRIGERANT LEAKING WHICH IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR STOPPED WORKING. THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE COMPRESSOR.
WHEN MAKING SMALL ADJUSTMENTS KEEPING A STRAIGHT TRAJECTORY ABOVE 55 MPH THERE IS A "STICKY POINT" IN THE STEERING. WHEN LIGHTLY MOVING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT YOU ENCOUNTER A POINT OF RESISTANCE, STEERING THROUGH THE RESISTANCE FORCES AN OVER COMPENSATION MAKING A ZIGZAG STYLE OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. IMPORTANT THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT SELF CENTER EVEN IF YOU TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE WHEEL, YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO STEER BACK THROUGH THE POINT OF RESISTANCE TO RE-CENTER THE WHEEL. THE HONDA PART NUMBER BEING REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE AND OTHER VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IS 53650-TBA-A01
AC COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING AT 26,000 MILES. AT HONDA DEALERSHIP NOW. HONDA DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ADVISED THEY CANNOT EVEN ORDER REPLACEMENT PARTS TO REPAIR AT THIS TIME DUE TO HONDA HAVING A HOLD ON THEM. COMPRESSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED/RECALLED BY HONDA.
HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES, ACTS LIKE WHEN YOU BRAKE ITS SEEM LIKE WANTS TO KEEP GOING, PURCHASE 3 MOS AGO FROM DEALER, TIRES MAKING GRINDING SOUNDS WHEN DRIVING ON FRREWAY WITH SPEED BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPR.
THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN MY CAR STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE REMAINING COOL ON PASSENGER SIDE. I TOOK IT THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CONDENSER HAD A LEAK WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK OR ROCKS. I WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THERE IS A 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE CONDENSER IT DOESN'T APPLY BECAUSE THE PART DIDN'T FAIL, IT WAS DUE TO ROAD DEBRIS. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE FRONT OF THIS MODEL OF HONDA IS COMPLETELY OPEN UNDER THE BUMPER EASILY ALLOWING SMALL ROCKS AND BUGS TO ENTER AND BE EMBEDDED IN THE CONDENSER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPRESSOR "BLEW UP" BECAUSE IT WAS STILL RUNNING WITH LOW FREON AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED EITHER. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE A LOW PRESSURE SWITCH WHICH SHUTS OFF THE COMPRESSOR WHEN THERE IS LOW FREON TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE. I WAS TOLD THE COST OF REPAIRS WOULD BE $1854. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS NOT RETURNED MY MULTIPLE CALLS TO DISCUSS MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD ALL OF MY SERVICE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WHEN THIS STARTED BECOMING AN ISSUE LAST YEAR I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT HONDA WOULD ADDRESS IT AND LET CONSUMERS KNOW WHAT STEPS COULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT THE DAMAGE - IF THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE CONDENSER TO FAIL. AS OTHER COMPLAINTANTS HAVE NOTED THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD IN RAINY WEATHER, I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED THAT PROBLEM AND IT IS AN ISSUE IN HOT WEATHER ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AFFECTED BY HOT WEATHER, THE ELDERLY AND CHILDREN. I CAN PROVIDE THE DEALER ESTIMATE AND PICTURES OF THE CAR'S FRONT AND CONDENSER IF THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

The contact stated while driving 45 MPH while remaining in a straight line, the contact noticed that the steering had seized, caused the contact to manually put more pressure to steer the vehicle in a straight line to avoid the vehicle going into the other lane. I HAD TO CALL HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AT LEAST TWICE WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FAULTY BRAKES AND BEING STRANDED. THEN CAME THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I WOULD LOCK THE CAR AND ALL WINDOWS WOULD BE UP WHEN LEAVING THE CAR BUT I'D RETURN TO ALL WINDOWS DOWN AND THE SUNROOF OPEN! THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR! LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST IS THE BATTERY ISSUE. THE BATTERY WON'T LAST 10 MONTHS WITHOUT ISSUES! IF YOU TRY TO CHARGE YOUR CAR IN ACCESSORY MODE, THE CAR BATTERY WILL DIE AND YOU WILL NEED A JUMP. I HAD AAA AND USED UP ALL BUT ONE OF MY CALLS UP ON THE BATTERY ISSUES THIS CAR HAS. MY CAR INSURANCE HAS ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND I HAD SO MANY CALLS TO GET JUMPED BECAUSE OF THIS BATTERY THAT I WAS TOLD IN JUNE THAT MY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS REVOKED FOR A YEAR!

SAYS PROBLEM WITH TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM, STABILITY, BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, POWER STEERING SYSTEM (EPS) PROBLEM, HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM, ETC. DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, THESE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF. STEERING IS LOOSE AND FEELS OUT OF CONTROL.
THE PAINT ON MY CIVIC IS PEELING AROUND THE REAR WINDOW. THE PEELING IS NOTICEABLE, GROWING, AND NOT A FUNCTION OF NEGLECT OR ABUSE. IT'S LIKE THE PAINT WAS NOT PROPERLY APPLIED OR THERE IS SOME MANUFACTURER ERROR THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE PAINT COLOR IS COSMIC BLUE. IT IS ONLY PEELING IN ONE SPOT.

IT HAS LOST ALL FUNCTIONING. THE 2ND IS THE AIR COMPRESSOR. IT HAS A LEAK AND APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF THE TOURINGS. PEOPLE HAVE REPLACED THEM AND HAD THE SAME ISSUES. THE DISPLAYS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BOTH IN DRIVE MODES AND PARKED. I HAVE GOOGLED ON HOW TO FIX THOSE ISSUES AND WE HAVE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO DO THE SAME. THE COOLING/HEATING SYSTEM COOLS SOME TIMES BUT NOT ALL THE TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
ANYTHING OVER 30 MPH, I CAN'T KEEP THE CAR DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, IT CONSTANTLY DRIFTS LEFT AND RIGHT. THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO "STICK" AND REQUIRES CONSTANT BACK AND FORTH ADJUSTMENT TO CONTROL THE CAR. NEWNAN GA HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACES FOR $3300. THERE ARE MANY 2016 CIVICS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'M FAR FROM BEING THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAS AFFECTED.
AC on these models is a complete failure. It is well know that 2016 Honda Civics have had issues with the AC system and the source of the malfunction lies in the refrigerant, specifically the R-1234f, which appears to be incompatible with the AC system components. As a result, leaks have developed, contaminating other vital AC components and causing unnecessary strain on the system. Refrigerant leaks have a cascading effect, leading to cross-contamination of other AC components and increased strain on the entire system. The fact that the condenser, air compressor, and evaporator have to be replaced due to the refrigerant leak is a clear indication of the severity of the problem. Other main problem is that whenever you take these vehicles into Honda dealerships with or without warranty they clearly do not go through all the issues. They find the first issue, they patch and send you on your way. You can feel they are have been trained to be money hungry and upsell wherever possible
I purchased my '16 civic in 2018. The following summer, I started to notice that the steering wheel would "stick" in straight or shallow turn positions, requiring excessive force to break free and start turning. This is especially noticeable during highway driving, when the sticking steering wheel results in minor corrections being impossible. The end result is the car is impossible to keep in the center of the lane all the time, and must continuously be corrected, over-corrected, and over-corrected again. Being unable to correctly control the car is a major safety problem, especially for older drivers that may have difficulty overcoming the force of the steering wheel "sticking." This problem has reappeared every spring. 11th generation civics have this problem and a recall/warranty for the offending components, but not the 10th generation. There are no warning lights or messages from the vehicle about this problem.
