PASSENGER FRONT DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR (NHTSA REFERENCE: #10057463) - I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY HONDA OF THIS CLASS-ACTION SETTLEMENT - MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME ON 8-30-16 OF THIS SETTLEMENT DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE - AFTER CONTACTING HONDA AMERICA AT 800-999-1009 -EXT [XXX], I WAS INFORMED THE SETTLEMENT FOR THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR ACTUATOR WAS AMENDED AND TERMINATED AS OF NOVEMBER 2015 - MY PASSENGER FRONT DOOR ACTUATOR HAS BEEN NON-WORKING SINCE THE 1ST QUARTER OF 2015 - HONDA HAS POLITELY REFUSED ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION - TWICE I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT A MANAGER WILL CALL TO REVIEW MY REQUEST; NO CALLS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED - I HAVE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES FROM HONDA (I.E. MARCH 2016 REGARDING THE AIRBAGS) SO I AM DEFINITELY IN THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM - HAD I BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR ACTUATOR SETTLEMENT I WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR A PROMPT AND FULL REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE QUESTIONS: A) DOES HONDA AMERICA BEAR ANY BURDEN OF HAVING TO DOCUMENT THEY DID SEND WRITTEN NOTIFICATION OF THIS SETTLEMENT IN A TIMELY MANNER? B) WHY WAS A TERMINATION DATE AGREED TO OF NOV. 2015? IF A PART IS DEFECTIVE, AS IT CLEARLY IS IN MY SITUATION, IT WILL REMAIN DEFECTIVE EVEN AFTER NOV. 2015? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPUTTER AND MADE A JERKING MOTION AFTER THE ENGINE AND VEHICLE STABILITY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CYLINDER TUBE MISFIRED AND THE COMPUTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE DOORS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000.
DOOR LOCKS:: 2014 CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT RESULTED IN SIX MONTH EXTENSION TO NOVEMBER 2015 FOR HONDA 2007 CRV REPAIR THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THE LOCK HAS A DESIGN FLAW THAT RESULTS IN THE DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE UNLOCKED FROM THE INSIDE. IF YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS, IT AUTOMATICALLY RE-LOCKS. THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT IS FOR AN ADULT TO PUT THEIR THUMB ON THE MANUAL DOOR LATCH AND TRY TO BLOCK THE LATCH FROM LOCKING WHILE YOU TRY TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE PASSENGER LOCKS ON MY AFFECTED VEHICLE HAD VERY LITTLE USAGE WHILE DRIVER DOOR HAD HIGH USAGE. DRIVER DOOR WAS NOT AFFECTED SO THIS IS NOT A "WEAR" ISSUE. ALSO, LOCK SHOULD DEFAULT TO UNLOCKED IF FAILS. NOT LOCKED AS YOU CAN'T GET OF THE CAR. HONDA ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN 14-083 AND 084 WHICH IDENTIFIES THE PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE AN INVOLUNTARY UNTIMED RECALL AS THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. A SECONDARY ISSUE IS LOCAL DEALER DID NOT FOLLOW THE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT. SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT SAYS DRIVER DOOR LOCK TO BE REPLACED WHETHER WORKING OR NOT. OCEAN HONDA, SANTA CRUZ CA. DID NOT DO THAT WHEN I BROUGHT IN DUE TO HONDA NOTIFICATION. HONDA REVISED ITS SERVICE BULLETIN TO INCLUDE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS..OCEAN HONDA DID NOT INFORM ME. THEY HAD CAR IN FOR AIR BAG RECALLS AND SERVICE EVERY 3 MONTHS. TRYING TO GET THEM TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY NOW AS WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED; BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE.
BACK DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. IT SEEMS THATS THE LATCH IS NOT HOLDING EVEN WHEN LOCK. WITH LITTLE FORCE I CAN OPEN THE DOOR WHEN IT SUPPOSE TO BE LOCK. DOOR WILL ALSO BECOME UNLOCK BY THE BUMP FORCE OF SPEED BUMBS. THE CAR HAS LOW MILIEGAE AND NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH. I FEEL THAT THE LOCKING COMPONENTS SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER THAN 83K MILES. IT SEEMS THAT OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT HONDA IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. SOMEONE GET THIS GOING AND PUT A RECALL IN ORDER. *JS
I MADE THE DECISION TO BUY THIS CAR FOR SAFETY REASONS. NOW I CAN LOSE MY KEY AT ANYTIME OR LEAVE ME STRANDED BC THE FOB ENCASING IS WEAK AND THEY KNOW THIS BECAUSE THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP IN MY TOWN FELT BAD AND TOOK PITY ON ME AND "REPLACED" THE CASING FOR ME TWICE NOW AND 'ONLY' CHARGED ME $40 EACH TIME. THE DOOR INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS ME OUT OR COMES ON AND OFF. I WENT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND I CAN'T AFFORD THE $300 JUST TO SEE IF IT'LL WORK. NOW - I LIVE IN A HIGH HUMIDITY AREA AND NO RECALL FOR OUR AIRBAGS. I HAVE A CHILD THAT RIDES WITH ME REGULARLY AND IT'S LIKE PLAYING ROULETTE. THANKS HONDA. MY PILOT I HAD TO GET RID OF FOR STOPPING FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING - WELL I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. HONDA IS NO LONGER THE COMPANY IT USED TO BE. HOW ABOUT OWNING UP TO WHAT YOUR WEAKNESSES AND JUST TAKING CARE OF THEM BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE BUYING YOUR PRODUCTS? SHOULD BE CRIMINAL TO DO THESE THINGS TO PEOPLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,395.
THE DRIVER-SIDE POWER WINDOW SWITCH DOES NOT FUNCTION FOR THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW. THE PASSENGER WINDOW DOES NOT ROLL DOWN OR UP SMOOTH, IF AT ALL. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
THE REAR RIGHT SIDE DOOR WORKS THE OPPOSITE OF THE OTHER DOORS, WITH SWITCHING THE GEAR FROM DRIVE TO PARK, WITH THE REMOTE, OR USING THE DRIVERS SIDE BUTTON. ALL THREE DOORS WILL UNLOCK BUT THE REAR RIGHT SIDE DOOR UNLOCKS AND THEN LOCKS BACK UP AGAIN. AND WHEN I LOCK ALL THE DOORS THE REAR RIGHT SIDE DOOR UNLOCKS, WHICH MAKES IT UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING AND KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT OR WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED OVERNIGHT (VEHICLE MILEAGE 74,600). PLEASE HELP. *TR

THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKS AFTER MAIN LOCK BUTTON IS PUSHED ON INTERIOR OF DRIVER'S DOOR AS WELL AS ON THE KEY FOB. ALL OTHER LOCKS CAN EASILY LOCK/UNLOCK MANUALLY EXCEPT THIS DOOR. IT SEEMS TO BE STUCK UNTIL THE BUTTON ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS PUSHED TO LOCK. BUT ALMOST INSTANTLY, IT WILL UNLOCK AGAIN. ANYTIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN PAST 9MPH, THE CAR KEEPS TRYING TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS MAKING AN ANNOYING NOISE. *TR

REAR RIGHT DOOR LOCKS ITSELF APPROXIMATELY 1/2 SECOND AFTER UNLOCKING, WHETHER VIA ELECTRIC SWITCH OR BY MANUALLY PUSHING THE UNLOCK LEVER. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS EGRESS IS ONLY POSSIBLE BY A PRECISELY-TIMED, TWO-STEP PROCESS: UNLOCK THE DOOR AND RAPIDLY ACTUATE THE DOOR HANDLE. THE COMPONENT DOES NOT FAIL-SAFE; IT FAILS INTO AN UNSAFE MODE. *TR
ON AUGUST 8, 2014 MY CR-V WOULD NOT START. I CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY CAME AND JUMPED THE BATTERY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RAN ON THE BATTERY AND BOTH THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE CHARGING. ON AUGUST 19, 2014, MY CR-V WOULD NOT START FOR THE 2ND TIME. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE BATTERY,STARTER AND ALTERNATOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECK DONE, ALL WERE CHARGING AND WORKING WITHOUT INCIDENT.THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BATTERY CABLES WERE LOOSE, SO HE TIGHTENED THEM. ON AUGUST 23, 2014 MY CR-V WOULD NOT START FOR THE 3RD TIME. I AM COMPLETELY AT A LOSS AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE. *TR
THE DOORLOCKS ARE HAVING A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS. THE DOORS BEGAN UNLOCKING THEMSELVES SHORTLY AFTER LOCKING THEM. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WON'T STAY LOCKED, THE RIGHT REAR DOOR IS FROZEN IN THE LOCKED POSITION AND THE DOOR IS UNUSABLE, THE DRIVER REAR DOOR STAYS IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION, AND THE REAR HATCH WON'T UNLOCK; THEREFORE, IT WON'T OPEN. AT THIS POINT, TWO OF MY DOORS WON'T OPEN AND THE LOCKS CONTINUOUSLY TRY LOCKING OVER AND OVER AS I DRIVE UNDER APPROXIMATELY 10MPH. AS I SEARCH THE INTERNET I SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS, BUT MY FEAR IS MY FAMILY GETTING TRAPPED IN THIS CAR IF THE LOCKS SEIZE AND WON'T ALLOW PASSENGERS TO EGRESS THE VEHICLE. I HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE AN UNFORTUNATE EVENT FOR SOMEONE TO STEP UP AND TAKE NOTICE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. *TR

MY 2007 HONDA CR-V, PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS ITSELF IMMEDIATELY AFTER UNLOCK BY THE MAIN LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH, KEY FOB OR THE MANUAL TAB IN THE DOOR. WE HAVE TO BE VERY PRECISE IN UNLOCKING AND PULLING THE DOOR AT THE SAME TIME. EVEN A SECOND DELAY COULD BRING THE BOOR BACK IN TO UNLOCK POSITION. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IN CASE OF FIRE OR ACCIDENT AS THE PASSENGER CAN NOT UNLOCK AND ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE. PLEASE LOOK IN TO IT. THANKS *TR
THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK BEGAN OPENING WHEN THE CAR WAS OPERATING. AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THE PROPER OPERATION OF THE CAR'S CRASH SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIRES THE DOORS TO REMAIN LOCKED DURING OPERATION. FURTHER, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK THIS DOOR, EVEN MANUALLY. I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR CANNOT BE LOCKED WHEN STOPPED. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
DOOR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK ALL FOUR DOORS. AS SOON AS YOU UNLOCK THEM, THEY LOCK AGAIN. YOU CAN NOT USE THE MANUAL UNLOCK BECAUSE IT SEEMS FROZEN AND CAN ONLY UNLOCK THE CAR USING THE KEY FOB AND THEN THEY LOCK AGAIN RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR OBVIOUS REASONS AND HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND MAKE IT PART OF A NATIONAL RECALL. ONLINE FORUMS ARE LOADED WITH HONDA OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME AND/OR SIMILAR PROBLEMS. A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS FILED EARLY 2013 REGARDING THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. RESULTS, IF ANY, ARE NOT KNOWN. *TR
2007 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DOOR LOCK ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DOORS LOCKED AS SOON AS HE CLOSED THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WAS BY TAKING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND USING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY. HOWEVER, TWO SECONDS LATER, IT LOCKED AGAIN. *JB
I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE AUGUST 3, 2007. ONLY SUPERIOR HONDA AND JEFF WYLER HONDA HAS SERVICED MY CAR. JULY, 1, 2014 THE STARTER MADE A CLICKING NOISE ESPECIALLY WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR IN THE MORNING. JEFF WYLER JUST GAVE ME A STATEMENT FROM HONDA CORPORATION OFFICE STATING THAT IF A CUSTOMER COMPLAINS ABOUT A CLICKING NOISE DO NOT BOTHER TO FIX IT. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO IT IS A QUIRK WITH THE STARTER RELAY SYSTEM. JUST TELL THEM TO TURN THE KEY FASTER. I HAVE TURNED MY KEY THE SAME WAY FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS SOUND. IF THIS IS A "KNOWN" QUIRK SINCE 2001 THEN WHY DON'T THEY GET AN ENGINEER TO DESIGN A NEW STARTER. I AM SURE THE STARTER IS GOING BAD IN THE CAR. IT NEVER DID THIS BEFORE, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER AT PERFORMANCE HONDA WHICH I TOOK IT TO AT THE ADVICE OF THE CASE MANAGER AT HONDA CORPORATION TOLD ME HE COULD MAKE ALL THE HONDAS ON HIS LOT MAKE THE SAME SOUND. GOD FORBID IF YOU HAD A DISABILITY AND COULD NOT TURN YOUR KEY FAST ENOUGH YOU WOULD NEVER GET YOUR CAR STARTED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. IF THEY REPLACE MY STARTER THEY TELL ME IT WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT WHY DID THIS ONLY START HAPPENING NOW? I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR MORE THAN 15 MILES FROM HOME. AS REPORTED BY A NUMBER OF OTHER HONDA CRV OWNERS, MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK UNLOCKS ITSELF. I FIRST NOTICED IT AFTER SOMETHING WAS STOLEN FROM MY CAR. I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT WAS POSSIBLE BECAUSE I NEEDED TO UNLOCK MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO GET INTO THE CAR. I NEVER CHECKED THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK. I THEN NOTICED THAT THE CAR DOORS CONTINUED TO LOCK AS I WAS DRIVING. I LOOKED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WOULD UNLOCK AS SOON AS IT LOCKED. SO NOW THE LOCK MECHANISM KEEPS TRYING TO LOCK THE DOOR AFTER EVERY STOP. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE FOR A FAULTY PART. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THREEFOLD: 1) PREVENTING ITEMS OR THE CAR FROM BEING STOLEN BECAUSE THE CAR CANNOT BE LOCKED; 2) DRIVING IN A LARGE CITY AND NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. I AM FEARFUL THAT SOMEONE COULD ENTER THE CAR WHILE I AM STOPPED IN UNSAFE LOCATIONS; 3) I PARK IN A GARAGE AND SOMETIMES LEAVE LATE IN THE EVENING. I NEED TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO ONE IN MY CAR NOW BEFORE I ENTER IT. GM WAITED TOO LONG TO RECALL THEIR CARS. I AM ASKING HONDA TO BE MORE PROACTIVE SINCE THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE. ALL CAR LOCKS MAKE A LOUD NOISE WHEN UNLOCKING/LOCKING. ONLY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL STAY UNLOCKED WHEN YOU UNLOCK. OTHERS WILL TYPICALLY LOCK IN 1-2 SECONDS MAKING IT A PAIN TO ALLOW SOMEONE INTO THE VEHICLE. DRIVER SIDE LOCK SWITCH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 9,197 MILES. PROBLEM RESURFACED 3 OR 4 YEARS AGO, BUT WE;VE JUST BEEN TOLERATING IT SINCE WE DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY ON 8 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 150K MILES. NO WE LEARN THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED? SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I DISABLED THE AUTO DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK WHEN GOING OVER 10 MILES/HOUR AND WHEN PLACED IN PARK TO REDUCE THE NUISANCE NOISE.
THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE LOCK ON THE RIGHT SIDE REAR WILL NOT OPEN MANUALLY NOR WILL IT OPEN WITH THE REMOTE EXCEPT FOR ABOUT ONE SECOND WHEN THE REMOTE IS PRESSED. LAST WEEK I GO TO LOCK MY CAR AND IS KEEP PUSHING LOCK ON MY CLICKER AND IT NEVER BEEPS. SO I GO BACK TO MY CAR AND LOOK AND ALL THE DOORS ARE LOCKING EXCEPT FOR MY DRIVERS SIDE. I END UP MANUALLY LOCKING IT AND WHEN I COME OUT IT WORKS FINE. NOW TODAY (THREE DAYS LATER) IT IS DOING IT AGAIN EXPECT THIS TIME IT LOCKS EXTREMELY FAST. WHEN I UNLOCKED ALL THE DOORS - THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK OPENED BUT THEN RETRACTED AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN - I CLICKED THE OPEN SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR - BUT THEN THE SWITCH SEEMED TO JAM AGAIN - FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATED THAT THE ACTUATOR IS THE CAUSE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS ISSUE - IF THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY - AT THE VERY LEAST IT IS FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO REMEMBER TO TRY TO OPEN THE DOOR AS SOON AS IT IS ACTIVATED OTHERWISE IT WILL RETRACT AND NOT OPEN. I HAVE IN THE INTERIM TRIED APPLYING SOME WHITE LITHIUM GREASE TO THE INSIDE AND IT APPEARS TO HELP TEMPORARILY - BUT THE ACTUATOR WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS AND DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS SEEM TO BE MALFUNCTIONING. THE LOCKS WILL RANDOMLY UNLOCK AND LOCK MILES INTO A DRIVE. WHEN THE DOOR IS LOCKED WITH THE SIDE DOOR BUTTON ON EITHER THE DRIVERS SIDE OR PASSENGERS SIDE THE ACTUATOR MAKES A HORRIBLE NOISE. 2007 HONDA CR-V MAKING WHINING NOISE DURING TURNS. TOPPED OFF POWER STEERING FLUID WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS. EVENTUALLY TOOK CAR IN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP. LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP INDICATES THAT I NEED NEW POWER STEERING HOSE AND RACK AND PINION SYSTEM. WITHOUT REPLACING BOTH, THE PROBLEM WILL ONLY GET WORSE. I SEE A NUMBER OF OTHER SIMILAR ISSUES REPORTED REGARDING STEERING ISSUES WITH THE 2007 HONDA CR-V. *TR
THE REAR AND FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK AFTER BEING LOCKED. THE LOCK BUTTON ALSO WILL NOT CONSISTENTLY LOCK ANY OF THE DOORS IN THE CAR. THEREFORE I HAVE 2 DOORS IN MY CALL THAT WILL NEVER LOCK. THIS POSES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT ALSO ANY PASSENGERS THAT I HAVE WITH ME. IT ALSO PUT ANY OF POSSESSIONS THAT ARE LEFT IN THE CAR VULNERABLE TO THEFT. DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RELOCK EVERYTIME YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS. IT STARTED WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE PASSENGER DOOR. TO UNLOCK DOORS YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALLY HIT UNLOCK BUTTON, THEN YOU HAVE HALF A SECOND TO GET DOOR OPEN BEFORE IT LOCKS AGAIN ON ITS OWN. THE WHOLE CAR BE UNLOCKED BUT YOU CAN'T GET INTO THE FRONT DOORS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAD SOME KIND OF EMERGENCY, THE FRONT DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK OR OPEN LONG ENOUGH TO GET OUT. MY KIDS HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING OUT, SO I WON'T LET THEM SIT IN FRONT SEAT ANYMORE. HOPING THAT THE BACK DOORS DON'T START ACTING UP. DOING RESEARCH ON THIS, I SEE THAT HONDA HAS HAD CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS FILED ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FIRST SIGN OF A DOOR LOCKING PROBLEM STARTED WITH MY REAR HATCH NOT OPENING. AS A SENIOR FEMALE I HAD TO STRUGGLE TO GET 10 40LB BAGS OF SMELLY WET FERTILIZER OVER THE PASSENGER SEATS AND OUT A PASSENGER DOOR. THE NEXT DAY I FOUND THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AND THE LOCKS KEEP CLICKING AS YOU DRIVE. TWO HONDA DEALERS WE CALLED OFFER NOTHING BUT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET TELLS ME AFTER DRIVERS PAY HONDA MANY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR THIS REPAIR THE PROBLEM RETURNS ON ANOTHER DOOR OR THE ACTUATOR THEY REPLACE FAILS AGAIN.THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR BOTH A PASSENGER FALLING OUT OR A CRIMINAL GETTING IN AND ATTACKING SOMEONE OR STEALING THE CAR AND OR ITS CONTENTS. AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT THE GROCERY STORE, I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AT A HIGH SPEED ALMOST HITTING THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR (AND MY BRAKES ARE FAIRLY NEW)! ALMOST SCARED ME TO DEATH! I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. WHILE THIS OCCURS, IT IS POSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, EVEN AS THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. LOCK "SOUNDS" ARE ALSO HEARD AS THE LOCKS ENGAGE, AND DISENGAGE WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE DRIVE. ALSO, WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND WE ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE CAR; BOTH WITH THE BUTTONS ON EITHER THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE, OR THE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB, THE DRIVERS SIDE LOCK MAKES AN UNUSUAL SOUND, LIKE THE DOOR IS ATTEMPTING TO LOCK, BUT SOMETHING IS "OFF TRACK". WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS UNABLE TO LOCK. BECAUSE OF THIS, WE CANNOT SET THE ALARM ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH ALLOWS ANYONE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AT THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE HATCHBACK. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ABOUT 70% OF THE TIME. FURTHER RESEARCH INTO THIS ISSUE SHOWS THAT SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MALFUNCTION IN MOST HONDA CRVS BETWEEN THE YEARS 2007-2010. USUALLY OCCURS ON OR AROUND THE 50K MILE MARK, WHEN THE FACTORY WARRANTY IS NO LONGER EFFECTIVE. BECAUSE HONDA WILL SUPPLY CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ACTUATOR AS ALREADY EQUIPPED IN THE VEHICLE, THE PROBLEM IS NOT CORRECTED, AND EVENTUAL REPEAT OF SAME DEFECTS OCCUR. *JS
ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I HEARD WHINING NOISES WHEN DRIVING THE CAR. I SENT IT TO A GARAGE AND FOUND A STEERING HOSE LEAK, COSTING $350 TO REPLACE THE HOSE, BUT DIDN'T RESOLVE THE WHINING NOISE ISSUE. RECENTLY, I SENT IT TO HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT STEERING RACK AND PINION AS WELL AS STEERING PUMP NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE LEAK. THE ESTIMATE TO REPAIR IS $1900, TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME.
