FUEL IS LEAKING DOWN INTO THE OIL PAN RAISING THE OIL LEVELS ON THE DIP STICK AS MILEAGE INCREASES, WHICH WILL RESULT IN PREMATURE POTENTIAL ENGINE FAILURE. THIS IS ALSO GOING TO HURT THE RESALE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. FOR EXAMPLE, 2K MILES AFTER LAST OIL CHANGE, OIL LEVELS HAVE INCREASED TO A QUARTER INCH ABOVE RECOMMENDED "FULL LEVEL" DISPLAYED ON THE DIPSTICK.
OIL DILUTION PROBLEM IN THE 1.5 TURBO ENGINE. I HAVE CHECKED OIL AND IT IS ABOVE TOP LEVEL LINE AND SMELLS OF GASOLINE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL BUT IT DIDN'T APPLY TO CARS BOUGHT AND USED IN CALIFORNIA
MY VEHICLE'S WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON FOR ALL FEATURES, INCLUDING LANE ASSIST, STABILITY, COLLISION MITIGATION, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING AND MANY OTHERS. THESE FEATURES ARE CURRENTLY NOT WORKING. THE FIRST TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED WAS IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS THREE TIMES. THE THIRD TIME, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH A FUEL VALVE -- PART OF A HONDA "CAMPAIGN," WHATEVER THAT MEANS -- AND THAT REPLACING/REPAIRING THE ISSUE COULD TAKE UP TO 60 DAYS. I WAS DISMISSED FROM THE DEALER AND TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WOULD NOT MAKE MY CAR STOP WORKING, AND THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN A PART ARRIVED. MEANWHILE, MY CAR IS IDLING ROUGH AND I SMELL GAS UPON STARTING IT.
THE BUTTON THAT YOU PUSH IN ON THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB BROKE OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME. POPPED RIGHT OUT IN MY HAND. SPRING AND ALL. HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO PUT IT BACK IN WHEN I GOT HOME, I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO TWO OTHER PEOPLE I WORK WITH WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE CAR IS NOT A YEAR OLD YET. I WILL CONTACT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES ON AND FLASHES ALL WARNINGS ON THE DASHBOARD. CAR WON'T START CONSISTENTLY, AND IF LEFT OVERNIGHT, WON'T START AT ALL, ALMOST LIKE A DEAD BATTERY. WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, THE BATTERY IS FINE. CAR IS DANGEROUS AS IT TURNS OFF WHILE ON THE ROAD.
IF I STOP USING THE CR-V FOR TWO DAYS THE BATTERY GOES DEAD AND I HAVE TO RECHARGE IT. THE ORIGINAL BATTERY WAS REPLACED AFTER THE FIRST YEAR IN THE HONDA DEALER. IF I WANT TO USED THE OTHER CAR I NEED TO TURN ON THE CR-V EVERY DAY SO THE BATTERY DOES NOT LOOSE CHARGE.
WENT TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGE MAINTENANCE. AFTER COMPLETING, NOTICED CAR SEEMED TO BE STALLING AND SLOW/NON RESPONSE IN ACCELERATING. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME ABOUT 7 MILES AWAY, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME UP AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND GO MORE THAN 5 MP/H. VERY FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPEN NEAR MY HOME WHERE TRAFFIC IS LIGHT. WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF IT HAD OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED DASH CYCLED THROUGH ALL SYSTEMS, POWER STEERING, BRAKES ETC. SHOWING ALL FAILED! PULLED OVER, STOPPED CAR AND STARTED CAR AGAIN AND SYSTEM RESET ITSELF. DON'T KNOW IF SYSTEMS ACTUALLY FAILED. WENT TO DEALER AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE CARS DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE BECAUSE NOTHING SHOWED AS A PROBLEM. AFTER I COMPLAINED THEY DIDN'T. CAR JUST DID SAME THING AGAIN. DON'T FEEL SAFE IN IT.
AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY,COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM FAILED TO FUNCTION
ENGINE OIL HAS A FLASHPOINT OF 215 DEGREES AND 8.5% FUEL TO OIL RATIO AS MEASURED BY AN INDEPENDENT LABORATORY, BLACKSTONE LABORATORIES. TWO TESTS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED AND SHOW DANGEROUSLY LOW FLASHPOINT LEVELS AND OUT OF SPEC VISCOSITY. THE FLASHPOINT IS WITHIN THE OPERATING RANGE OF THE ENGINE. I AM AFRAID OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY CAN ONLY CHANGE THE OIL AT THE PRESCRIBED TIME INDICATED BY THE CAR. FLASH POINT IS EXTREMELY SERIOUS.
DISPLAY FLICKERS AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ON THE DISPLAY
VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AT A TIRE SHOP TO GET NEW TIRES PUT ON. UPON ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR AGAIN, A WARNING SHOWED UP ON THE SCREEN SAYING "ELECTRONIC BRAKE FAILURE". THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC BRAKES THAT AUTOMATICALLY TURN ON WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO TURN BACK OFF WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED, BUT ON THIS OCCASION THEY WERE UNABLE TO TURN BACK OFF. THIS STOPPED THE CAR FROM BEING ABLE TO START AT ALL, MULTIPLE INDICATORS ON THE DASH WERE THROWING ERRORS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS FLASHING, AND IT CONTINUED TO SHOW "ELECTRONIC BRAKE FAILURE". WHEN THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED THEY SAID THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO BUT TO TOW IT 2 HOURS AWAY TO LOOK AT IT, THEN THEY SUGGESTED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR 10 MINUTES TO GET THE BRAKES TO RELEASE, WHICH WAS DONE AND DID RELEASE THE BRAKES AND CLEAR THE ERROR. BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS REMOVED, ANY CODES STORED WERE CLEARED SO WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN THE CAR SHOWED THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ENOUGH ISSUE NOW ON ALL NEW HONDAS WITH THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE FEATURE TO THE POINT THAT GOOGLING IT WILL COME UP WITH MULTIPLE FORUMS TALKING ABOUT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BRAKE, POWER PRESSURE, CRUISE CONTROL, AND LANE ASSIST WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, RESTARTED, AND TAKEN TO VANN YORK AUTO MALL (422 EASTCHESTER DR, HIGH POINT, NC 27262, 336-841-6200) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED TO CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DIAGNOSIS INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,100. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB POPPED OUT OF THE SHIFTER WHILE I WAS IN REVERSE AND I COULDN'T TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK TO FIND IT OR I WOULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING. LUCKILY I FOUND IT AND SHOVED IT BACK IN TO BE ABLE TO GET INTO PARK BUT IT STILL REGULARLY POPS OUT LEAVING THE SHIFTER STUCK IN GEAR.
VEHICLE DOES NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN TURNED OFF. THIS CAUSES A HIGH PARSITIC DRAW ON THE BATTERY WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE NOT TO START IN A MATTER OF HOURS. HONDA POSTED A SERVICE BULLETIN STATING WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND HOW TO FIX IT..SERVICE BULLETIN 17-032. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED HE NEVER HEARD OF IT. THEN HE WENT ON TO SAY EVEN IF THERE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE, HONDA WILL NOT ALOW HIM TO DO IT UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY BECAUSE OF THE LABOR CHARGE TO HONDA. MY BATTERY BLEW UP RELEASING TOXIC GASSES FILLING THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR WHICH CONTAIN MY WIFE AND KIDS AT THE TIME. THEY GAVE ME A NEW BATTERY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE, THE GEAR SHIFTER KNOB DETACHED. THE CONTACT REACHED INTO THE GEAR SHIFTER COMPARTMENT AND ENGAGED THE GEAR INTO PARK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COGGIN HONDA OF FT. PIERCE (4450 SOUTH U.S. 1, FORT PIERCE, FL 34982, (772) 621-5991) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPRING, BUTTON, AND KNOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 09342672. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH BUSY TRAFFIC ENROUTE TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP MY 2017 HONDA CRV EXPERIENCED A SIGNIFICANT DROP IN POWER DROPPING FROM 65MPH SPEED LIMIT TO 20MPH. I HAD SEMI TRAILERS BEHIND ME AND IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAD TO DRIVE A COUPLE OF MILES TO FIND A PLACE I COULD PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER OUT OF TRAFFIC. LOSING POWER LIKE THIS PUTS LIVES AT RISK. HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE A RECALL! HONDA CLAIMS IT AS A PRODUCT UPGRADE TO THE 1.5 LITER TURBOCHARGED ENGINE TOURING MODEL. GASOLINE WAS GETTING INTO THE OIL AS IT WASN'T BURNING PROPERLY SO PUTTING MY LIFE AND PROBABLY DAMAGING MY CAR.
WHILE DRIVING, SAFETY SYSTEMS GO OFFLINE. ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE KEEP ASSIST, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION, COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM, AND OTHERS ALL GO OFFLINE AT THE SAME TIME. APPEARS TO HAPPEN AT RANDOM. FIRST VISIT TO DEALER, WE WERE ADVISED THEY DID NOT SEE ANY CODES AND THERE WAS NO MALFUNCTION AT THAT TIME. NEXT VISIT, ALL THE SYSTEMS WERE STILL OFFLINE FROM EARLIER IN THE DAY AND THEY PERFORMED SOME SOFTWARE UPDATES WHICH RESET EVERYTHING. NEXT DAY, SAFETY SYSTEMS WENT OFFLINE AGAIN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT IS RIGHT NOW AND THEY ARE ADVISING THAT IT IS A FUEL ISSUE AND GASOLINE IS GETTING INTO THE OIL . NO EXPLANATION HOW OR WHY THIS IS CAUSING THE SAFETY SYSTEMS TO GO OFFLINE AND BECOME INOPERABLE. HAVE CONTACTED HONDA MULTIPLE TIMES ALONG THEY WAY, CURRENTLY WAITING ON A CASE MANAGER TO CALL BACK.
THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR. MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION DISPLAY OCCASSIONALLY CHANGES BRIGHTNESS ON ITS OWN. IT ALSO SOMETIMES ACTIVATES ON SCREEN BUTTONS BY ITSELF. TODAY (2/6/2019), WHILE PLAYING AUDIO THROUGH THE CAR'S BLUETOOTH SYSTEM AND USING THE GPS, THE DISPLAY BLANKED OUT FOR 3 - 5 MINUTES. ALSO, THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE TACHOMETER DISPLAY, VIEWED THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL, BLANKED OUT AND SHOWED A SPINNING WAIT CURSOR. AFTER THAT WAIT TIME, THE MULTIMEDIA DISPLAY TURNED BLACK. THEN ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER, IT SHOWED THE HONDA SYMBOL. INDICATING THAT IS WAS BOOTING. I HAD BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALER LAST FRIDAY FOR MAINTENANCE WORK AND THEY HAD RESET THE MULTIMEDIA DISPLAY. IT SEEMS TOO SOON FOR PROBLEMS TO OCCUR YET AGAIN. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. THE RANDOM BRIGHTNESS CHANGES ARE QUITE DANGEROUS AT NIGHT TIME, WHEN MAX BRIGHTNESS OCCURS SUDDENLY. THE RANDOM ON SCREEN BUTTON ACTIVATIONS BECOME DANGEROUS DISTRACTIONS DURING DRIVING. I HAVE BEEN BRINGING THESE PROBLEMS TO MY DEALER'S ATTENTION FOR THE PAST YEAR, WHO SAID THEY ONLY JUST RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM HONDA (IN JANURARY 2019), SAYING THAT HONDA RECEIVED INFORMATION ON DISPLAY ISSUES AND ARE LOOKING INTO IT.
2017 HONDA CRV PARKED IN GARAGE, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START ENGINE, DASH LIGHTS UP WARNINGS AND SOUNDS ALARMS ON BRAKING SYSTEM, CRUISE CONTROL, LANE ASSIST SYSTEM, BATTERY, AND MANY OTHER AREAS. CAR WOULD NOT START AND GOES DEAD WITH SECOND ATTEMPT TO START. DEALERSHIP HAD CAR TOWED IN TO DIAGNOSE. DEALERSHIP STATE THAT TOLL TAG TOO CLOSE TO SENSORS (EVEN THOUGH TAG HAS BEEN ON WINDSHIELD FOR 18 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEM). TOLL TAG SCRAPED OFF WINDSHIELD. SIX WEEKS LATER, CAR IN GARAGE AND DASH LIGHTS UP WITH ALARMS AND SOUNDS WITH SAME ALERTS. CAR GOES DEAD. DEALERSHIP HAD CAR TOWED IN TO DIAGNOSE.
BRAKING SYSTEM AND OTHER SENSORS HAVE BEEN COMING ON AND OFF WITHOUT CAUSE. FOR EXAMPLE, BRAKES ARE ENGAGED EVEN WHEN I AM ALONE ON THE ROAD AND NOT BRAKING. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE AT TIMES AND WARNING LIGHTS APPEAR FOR NO REASON. IN ADDITION, BLIND SPOT MONITOR COMES ON WHEN NO CARS ARE IN VICINITY. I HAD MY SOFTWARE UPDATED FOR RECALL BUT SAME ISSUES. I JUST WANT TO SEND COMPLAINT FOR OTHERS WHO MAY ALSO HAVE SAME ISSUE WITH HONDA CRV. WHEN I COMPLAINED BEFORE I WAS TOLD IT WAS LIKELY WEATHER RELATED BUT RECENTLY THIS HAPPEN EVEN WHEN WEATHER WAS GREAT, NO RAIN ETC. AS A SIDE THESE SO -CALLED SAFETY FEATURES NEED TO WORK BEST IN RAIN AND OTHER BAD WEATHER. ERROR MESSAGE GO AWAY WHEN I PARK AND TURN OFF CAR. THESE MALFUNCTIONS GENERALLY OCCUR DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING.
MY 2017 CRV HAS BEEN SMELLING OF GASOLINE. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK, THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE THE FULL MARK. I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THIS ISSUE. SHORTLY AFTERWARD, I RECEIVED A RECALL/"UPDATE" NOTICE IN THE MAIL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE REPAIRS WERE MADE (SOFTWARE UPDATE, REPLACED AC UNIT, OIL CHANGE). ONE MONTH HAS PASSED, AND AGAIN, THE OIL LEVELS ARE HIGH AND THE CABIN SMELLS OF GASOLINE. THE OIL LEVEL ON THE DIPSTICK IS, AGAIN, OVER THE FULL MARK. I CONTACTED BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND AMERICAN HONDA MOTORS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM AMERICA HONDA MOTORS. I AM TAKING PICTURES OF THE OIL LEVELS ON THE DIPSTICK, DOCUMENTING ALL CONTACTS MADE WITH BOTH THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND AMERICA HONDA MOTORS, AND RETAINING ALL PAPERWORK REGARDING REPAIRS TO MY CAR CONCERNING THIS ISSUE.
CENTRAL DISPLAY FLICKERS BRIGHT TO DIM AND FREEZES. DISPLAY IS NOW STUCK ON HI BRIGHTNESS. BRIGHTNESS CAUSES SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. HONDA OF AMERICA SAYS IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX. HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS AND NO RESOLUTION AS OF YET.
THE LED SCREEN GOES OUT OF CONTROL. WORDS AND IMAGES BECOME SCRAMBLED AND IT KEEPS BUZZING CONSTANTLY. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ANY SETTINGS INCLUDING THE RADIO. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. IF I STOP AND TURN OFF VEHICLE AND TURN IT BACK ON IT SEEMS TO CORRECT ITSELF FOR A WHILE.
RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HONDA ABOUT A RECALL TO UPDATE SOFTWARE AND CHANGE A/C MODULE TO PREVENT MIL FROM COMING ON. WENT TO DEALER AND HAD SERVICE COMPLETED AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL PER HONDA DUE TO POSSIBLE CONTAMINATION FROM THE SERVICE ACTION. BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FILTER. TWELVE DOLLARS IS NOT A HUGE AMOUNT, BUT THERE IS NO WAY THE OIL WOULD BE CONTAMINATED BY THIS SERVICE ACTION. NOW THERE IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CRVS CONCERNING OIL DILUTION. THIS SERVICE BULLETIN DOES NOT IN ANY MANNER ALLUDE TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT DOES SEEM TO BE AIMED DIRECTLY AT IT. THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGERS EXPRESS NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY OIL ISSUES. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT HONDA REGARDING THIS AND NO REPLY. AS A SIDE NOTE HONDA IS OFFERING CANADIAN OWNERS A FREE EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THIS ISSUE, AND TO US BUYERS WON'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM.

OIL LEVEL IS GOING UP. WHEN YOU CHECK THE DIP STICK, IT SMELLS LIKE GAS AMD IT'S OVER THE MAXIMUM LEVEL. FOR THE HAS PEDAL, WHEN YOU PRESS IT IT'S SQUEAKING.
GASOLINE SMELL. OIL LEVEL INCREASING ON DIP STICK WITHOUT ADDING OIL, STATIONARY
AMBER CAUTION ANNUNCIATION FOR ACC, CMS, RWDS AND LKAS WITH STEADY BRAKE SYSTEM AMBER INDICATOR WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PULLED ONTO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY, SHUT OFF IGNITION AND RESTARTED, CLEARING THE CAUTIONS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL AND SHAKE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLACK, THEN THE AUDIO SCREEN WENT BLACK. THE GAS GAUGE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS CAME ON, ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS WERE ON. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED REPLACING AND THAT IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE WHOLE AUDIO SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ORDER UNTIL MARCH 1, 2019.
NOTICE VERY TOXIC GASOLINE SMELL IN VEHICLE CABIN WHEN DRIVING CAR DURING COLDER WEATHER. ALSO, NOTICE GASOLINE SMELL IN GARAGE AFTER CAR IS PARKED. HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE OIL LEVEL FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS. THE OIL LEVEL WAS 1" ABOVE THE HIGH LEVEL MARK IN DECEMBER 2018 AND TOOK CAR TO HONDA DEALER . THEY REPLACED THE OIL AND MADE A SOFTWARE UPDATE PER A HONDA BULLETIN. THEY NOTIFIED ME IN WRITING THAT THE PROBLEM IS UNDER REVIEW AND HONDA TECHLINE AND ENGINEERS ARE AWARE OF ISSUE BUT NO SERVICE BULLETINS,UPDATES OR REPAIRS ARE AVAILABLE AS OF THIS TIME( DEC. 14,2018) IT IS NOW JAN 28, 2019 AND THE TOXIC GAS SMELL IS MUCH MORE SEVERE. USA HONDA WAS CONTACTED TODAY AND CASE REGISTERED FOR MY VEHICLE. HONDA USA TOLD ME TO AGAIN CONTACT THE HONDA DEALER REGARDING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND I'M WAITING TO HEAR BACK TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. HONDA AND NHTSA MAY NOT CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT IT CERTAINLY COULD BECOME A HEALTH ISSUE WHICH IS WHY I AM NOTIFYING NHTSA.
VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE ON OIL DIPSTICK WHEN CHECKING LEVEL OF OIL. OIL IS OVERFILLED ACCORDING TO DIPSTICK WHERE IT IS WELL ABOVE THE FILL MARKING EVEN THOUGHT DEALER FILLED OIL TO SPECIFICATION PREVIOUSLY. OBVIOUSLY GASOLINE IS DILUTING OIL. VERY CONCERNED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE LONG TERM. DEALER DENIES THERE IS AN ISSUE AND IS UNWILLING TO REPAIR NOTWITHSTANDING THE CAR HAS A TSB IN SEVERAL US STATES AND ALL OF CANADA.
BACK UP CAMERA AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING WHILE ON TRIP TO COLORADO. CAR WAS OUTSIDE AT SUBFREEZING TEMPS AND AT HIGH ALTITUDE (10,000 FEET). DEALER HAD TO RESET WHEN RETURNED TO ARIZONA. (OCCURRED WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT).
DURING NORMAL SHIFTING OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LEVER, THE PUSH BUTTON RELEASE ON THE SHIFTING KNOB BROKE IN TWO. THE UNIT WAS UNDER SLIGHT SPRING TENSION AND POPPED OUT AFTER SPLITTING IN TWO. THE CAR WAS STUCK IN DRIVE AND I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. UPON A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH AND AFTER DISCUSSIONS WITH A FACTOR MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE, IT APPEARS THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM.
THE SYSTEM PRODUCES FALSE POSITIVES AND TRIGGERS WARNINGS WHEN NO OBSTRUCTIONS ARE PRESENT, WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ON HIGHWAY SPEED FLUCTUATES WITHOUT ANY VEHICLES NEAR BY. THE SYSTEM CAUSES NUMEROUS WARNING MESSAGES RANDOMLY. THE SCREEN GOES BLACK AND I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. CAR BRAKES WITHOUT PEOPLE ASSISTANCE. ALL THIS PROBLEMS HAPPEN A RANDOM TIMES AND WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS GOING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A STORE AND TUBE PARKING GEAR WOULD NOT MOVE INTO PARK. I WAS PUSHING THE BUTTON IN TO MOVE FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. THEN THE BUTTON JUST POPPED OUT. I WAS STUCK AS I SCRAMBLED TO FIND THE BROKEN BUTTON. LUCKILY WHEN I FOUND IT I COULD PUT IT IN TO MOVE IT TO PARK EVEN THOUGH IT WAS BROKE. MY CAR IS A YEAR OLD AND WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE TONS OF PEOPLE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM. ISSUE IS IN THEIR CASES THEIR BUTTON COMPLETELY BROKE AND THEY COULD NOT MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTIER. THEY HAD TO USE PLIERS. IT IS A CHEAP PLASTIC BUTTON HONDA IS USING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED .NEXT TIME I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. HONDA DID REPLACE THE BUTTON AND I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS FROM THIS.
MY CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ONCE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND ONCE JUST ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. THIS HAPPENED TWICE, AND I WENT FLYING FORWARD AND ALL MY STUFF ON THE SEAT WENT FLYING. THERE WAS NOT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THEY SAID IT MUST HAVE BEEN READING SOMETHING TO DO THIS, AND IT'S TO PROTECT A POSSIBLE PEDESTRIAN. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN . I CALLED HONDA OF JOLIET TO PUT IT IN MY RECORD. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE VEHICLE STABILITY LIGHTS, THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, COLLISION MITIGATION, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION, AND A BRAKE LIGHTS ALL FLASH STATING THERE IS A PROBLEM. THESE LIGHTS JUST COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES . ONCE IT WAS SNOWING. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR. THE FIRST TIME I CLEARED SOME OF THE 'DRIVING AIDES' AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. I TOOK IT TO HONDA OF JOLIET ON 1/25 AND THEY ALIGNED THE RADAR. THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON 1/28 /19 AND THEY SAID THEY REALIGNED IT AGAIN. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS. THE ORIGINAL REASON WAS THE SENSORS ARE DIRTY, AND IN BAD WEATHER THIS CAN HAPPEN. THEY SAID A CLUMP OF SNOW COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TOO. SO THIS CAR IS ONLY GOOD IN GOOD WEATHER? THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF CARS IN FOR THIS SAME REASON. ANOTHER PROBLEM WAS I CAME OUT TO FIND MY WINDOWS DOWN, MY SUNROOF OPEN AND MY BACK DOOR OPEN. CAR WAS STATIONARY. DIDN'T TAKE IT IN FOR THIS AND FORGOT TO TELL THEM WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF ON 1/28/19.
2017 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STRONG GAS ODOR IN ENGINE OIL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN ADVISED TO MONITOR THE OIL LEVEL AND BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE SHOULD THE OIL LEVEL BECOME LOW OR THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. *JS
THE HEAT IN THE CAR DOSE NOT WORK WHEN IT IS COLD OUT. AUTO START DOES NOTHING TO WARM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE DRIVING CONTINUOUSLY TO HAVE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE MOVE. ONCE THE GAUGE IS 1/2 WAY UP AND I TURN ON THE HEAT, THE GAUGE DROPS ALL THE WAY DOWN. NO WARM AIR COMES OUT, ALSO EFFECTING THE DEFROSTER. IF I HAVE ICE OR FOG ON MY WINDOWS THE DEFROSTER CAN'T KEEP UP SEVERELY IMPAIRING MY VISION, NOT TO MENTION THAT ALL PASSENGERS IN THE CAR ARE FREEZING THE ENTIRE TIME. THIS MORNING THE TEMPERATURE WAS 9 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH A REAL FEEL OF -10 AND DURING MY 30 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK VIA A HIGHWAY, ALL 4 DOOR WINDOWS WERE FOGGED OVER AND ICE WAS FORMING ON THEM AND THE REAR AND FRONT WINDSHIELD HAVE FOG AND ICE ON ABOUT 50% OF THEM. IF NOT FOR THE SEAT WARMER AND THE BLANKET I WRAPPED MYSELF IN FOR MY CUMMUTE I WOULD HAVE BEEN FROZEN. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME WINTER HAS HAPPENED NOR THE FIRST CAR THAT HONDA HAS CREATED. NO REASON FOR THE HEAT NOT TO WORK.
WARNING LIGHTS TURN ON EVERY ASSISTANT SYSTEM. EVERYTHING DISABLES MAKING THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
JANUARY 20 2019 CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP JANUARY 21. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, A/C UNIT, DID A PROGRAM UPDATE, CHANGED THE OIL AND DRAIN PLUG. TOLD US IT WAS FIXED. HOWEVER, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY GAVE ME PROBLEMS --MORE THAN BEFORE. I WAS ACTUALLY TRAPPED IN MY CAR AND COULDN'T OPEN THE DOORS 3 TIMES. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE SAFETY SYSTEM CONTINUOUSLY ALERTS BLINDSPOT ACTIVITY, THE MESSAGE "SOME DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEMS CANNOT OPERATE" , THERES A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM DISABLED" THAT APPEARS, THE HAZARD LIGHTS GO ON INTERMITTENTLY AT WILL. TODAY, WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A TIRE PROBLEM AND MENTIONED ALL THESE OTHER MESSAGE FAULTS, THE DEALER CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS TOO HIGH (THE "FIX" WAS DONE JUST 10 DAYS AGO) AND THE DEALER TOLD US, "YES, BUT THERE'S NOTHING MORE WE CAN DO, CALL HONDA." SO, I HAVE A $37,000 PIECE OF JUNK I CAN'T TRUST TO TAKE ACROSS TOWN. PS WE WERE COERCED INTO PURCHASING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY -- WHAT GOOD IS A WARRANTY IF THE DEALER ADMITS HE CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM?
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2017 HONDA CRV, THE MAINTENANCE TECH TOLD ME THAT MY OIL SMELLED VERY MUCH LIKE GASOLINE. GASOLINE MUST BE LEAKING INTO OIL SOMEWHERE IN ENGINE. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE ISSUE.
AS I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME FROM SHOWCASE HONDA AFTER HAVING SHIFT LEVEL KNOB, AC HEPA FILTER AND CABIN HEPA FILTER REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, WHEN MY CABIN GOT FULL OF A VERY CLOUDY, FOLLOWED WITH A BAD SMELL THAT MADE ME ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS AND PULLED IMMEDIATELY TO THE NEAREST STREET BECAUSE I WAS SO SCARE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING.
I USE THE VEHICLE FOR SHORT TRIPS. NOTICES GAS MILEAGE DRASTICALLY REDUCED TO 20 MPG. THIS STARTTED HAPENING SINCE DE 2018. POSSIBLY DUE TO VERY COLD WEAHTER. MOST OF CASES CAR IS USED TO DROP MY KID TO A SCHOOL THAT IS AROUND 2 TO 3 MILES. MILEASE SHOWS AS 20 MILES PER GALLON. TOUCH SCREEN DASHBOARD SOMETIMES GOES BLANK AND NON RESPONSIVE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN 2-LANE ROAD WITH CARS PARKED PARALLEL THE CMBS (COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM) ACTIVATED AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND ABRUPTLY STOPPED MY VEHICLE CAUSING THE SEAT BELT TO LOCK. REPORTED INCIDENT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY UPDATED SOFTWARE BUT WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE FAULT. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE CMBS ACTIVATED AGAIN THIS TIME AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ONLY MOMENTARILY. NO VEHICLES WERE IN FRONT OF ME IN EITHER INSTANCE AND THANKFULLY NONE WERE BEHIND ME. THIS DANGEROUS UNINTENDED ACTIVATION OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
ONE DAY AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL PROBLEM LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD BEGAN TO TURN ON, CHIME, AND AND GIVING MESSAGES SUCH AS "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING POBLEM", BRAKE SYSTEM, BREAK HOLD SYSTEM , POWER STEERING, ETC..." AND MY FEATURES SUCH AS CRUISE CONTROL AND BREAK HOLD BECAME DISABLED. WE HAD THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. WE DID AN OIL CHANGE AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS OVER 5 QUARTS OF OIL COLLECTED WHEN ONLY 3.5 HAD BEEN PURED IN, ALSO THE OIL WAS SMELLING LIKE GASOLINE. WE STARTED RESEARCHING AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR/MODEL. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED LOWER COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER #4 AND KEPT GETTING A CYLINDER #4 ERROR.
VEHICLE OIL CONTINUES TO BE AT ELEVATED LEVELS, OIL SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE AND A GASOLINE SMELL CONTINUES TO BE PRESENT IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS STILL OCCURRING EVEN AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH A/C CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT WAS DONE IN NOVEMBER 2018.

HONDA RECALL SB 18-114 2017CR-V IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.. BEFORE THE FIX MY CR-V HEATED UP ,& HAD HEAT WITH 2MILES.. NOW THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DOES NOT MOVE FOR 10 MINUTES.. & THERE IS NO HEAT.. THE CR-V WAS FINE BEFORE THIS FIX.. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM RE-CHECK THIS RECALL.. THEY SAY THAT THIS IS NORMAL NOW.. THE RECALL WAS INTENDED TO MAKE THE CR-V HEAT UP QUICKER , NOT SLOWER.. I'M JUST LETTING YOUR KNOW THIS, AND I WILL ALSO LET NHTSA KNOW. AS THIS MAY NOW BE A SAFETY HAZZARD. BATTERY FAILED TO START (AT ALL) ON 01/09/19, AND WAS DIFFICULT TO JUMP START. VEHICLE (AND THE OEM BATTERY) HAD 13,167 MILES AT TIME OF FAILURE, AND HAD BEEN IN SERVICE APPR.17 MONTHS. NO EVIDENCE OF ABUSE. HONDA REFUSED TO REIMBURSE FOR DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR AT INDEPENDENT SHOP.
