I've reporter to Honda dealer about seat and brake pedal squeaking when pressed several times when my vehicle was under warranty. They always said its normal wear and tear. Car only had 12,000 miles on it at the time. Fast forward to 30K miles, they finally greased the brake pedal and noise went away for another 10K but returned. I was then told its hydrolic brake so it's normal. But I know its not normal to have squeaking noise like that. Moreover, seat squeaking noise has gone worse now. I can literally not take the noise to the point I try not to move at all while driving. I was told this is normal behavior and if I want to replace it it'll cost me $$$$. This should've been covered under warranty and I have few other friends and coworkers with similar issues and they're also being told to deal with it. Adaptive cruise control is ok as long as you don't change the lane or someone in front of you doesn't change the lane. I was going 45mph one night when I had adaptive cruise control turned on. It was seeing the car in front of me and there was a red light coming up. Car in front of me decided to change lane and after that my car failed to recognize the car in front of me stopping for red light. I was at 25mph due to all cars slowing down but as soon as the car front of me changed lane, my car speed accelerated to 45mph and almost hit the car stopped at red light. I slammed the brake so hard to avoid the accident that night. My entire family was freaked out after that and stopped trusting adaptive cruise control.
DRIVER'S SEAT BELT CONNECTION FELL OUT OF THE WALL WHILE CAR WAS PARKED AND DRIVER WAS PUTTING ON SEAT BELT.
THE DISPLAY IN THE MIDDLE GOES BLANK WHILE I AM DRIVING A LOT. LAST TIME I WAS BACKING OUT WHEN IT DID WHICH CAUSE MY CAR TO HAVE SERIOUS SCRATCHES ON IT. AT THE SAME TIME THE BACK UP SEEMED NOT TO BE WORKING EITHER. MY SON MADE A VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING ONE TIME WHEN HE IS IN THE CAR. ALSO THE RADIO IS LOCK AND DOES NOT DISPLAY WHAT IS PLAYING LIKE IT USE TOO. ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN I AM SWITCHING LANE WITH MY BLINKER ON THE CAR WILL NOT LET ME DO IT AND ABRUPTLY SLOW DOWN EVEN IF THERE IS NOT OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD. I HAD A 2012 HONDA CRV THAT MY SON DRIVE AND NEVER HAD THESE PROBLEM. MY 2017 CRV TOURING IS BY FAR NOT AS WELL MADE SINCE I HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS ALREADY.
THE VEHICLES OIL GAS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL AND THE CRANKCASE APPEARS TO BE OVER FILLED . GASOLINE HAS MIGRATED TO THE ENGINE CRANKCASE. ORIGINAL OIL IN VEHICLE AT 5845 MILES. THE ODOR IS UNDER THE HOOD AND VERY STRONG AT OIL FILLER CAP AND ON THE OIL IN THE CRANKCASE.
FIVE TIMES THE BATTERY DRAINED COMPLETELY WITH NOTHING ON, AFTER SITTING UNUSED, GARAGED, OVER NIGHT OR AFTER ONE DAY UNUSED. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY. AFTER THE FOURTH INCIDENT, THE DEALER CHARGED THE BATTERY. AFTER THE FIFTH INCIDENT, ONE WEEK LATER, THE DEALER CHARGED THE BATTERY AND CLAIMED ONLY A .002 MILIAMP DRAW.
MY NEW HONDA CR-V 2017 HAS A SAFETY DEFECT. THE HEADLIGHTS FOG UP WHEN IT RAINS OR AFTER I WASH THE CAR. CONDENSATION IS FORMED INSIDE THE GLASS HEADLIGHTS MAKING VISIBILITY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY ON CLOUDY DAYS OR AFTER SUN SET, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR MOVING WHILE DRIVING ON A RAINY DAY. I OBVIOUSLY CAN'T TAKE PICTURES WHILE I'M DRIVING, BUT I'VE PROVIDED A FEW PICTURES OF MY PROBLEM. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO COGGIN HONDA HERE IN ORLANDO, WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID NOT HELP.
OIL DILUTION,UNBURNT FUEL IS GETTING BUY THE PISTON RINGS AND IS GETTING INTO THE OIL SUMP,WHICH IS HAVING A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON THE LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF MOTOR OIL.I HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGED AT MY HONDA DEALER 5,271 MILES ON ODOMETER ON 10/25/2017 AFTER DRIVING 2,554 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE I NOTICED AFTER CHECKING OIL LEVEL ON DIPSTICK THAT IT WAS OVER FULL. I AGAIN HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT THE SAME DEALER ON 03/19/2018 5QTS OF OIL REMOVED ,WHEN THE CAPACITY IS 3.7 QTS WITH OIL PLUS FILTER CHANGE.I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN LESS THAN MONTH LATER WITH UNBURNT FUEL GETTING INTO MOTOR OIL AND DILUTING MOTOR OIL ,WELL ABOVE THE FULL MARK ON DIPSTICK 04/18/2018
When the vehicle is not driven for a few days, battery is dead. There is a parasitic drain going on with the battery and Honda is not addressing this problem. This has happened numerous times. The battery has been replaced twice but problem still exists. Dealer cannot fix this issue. Have read reports of vehicle stopping while people are driving it because the battery dies.
I BOUGHT THIS 2017 CRV EXL-NAV AWD IN 05/2017. WE DID THE FIRST MAINTENANCE ON MARCH 17 TO CHANCE OIL AT 8000 MILES. THERE IS OIL LEAKAGE, I WILL TALK THIS ON ANOTHER COMPLAINT. I HEARD THAT THERE IS OIL EXCESSIVE PROBLEM ON THIS 1.5T ENGINE, SO I CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL AT ABOUT 8800 MILES AND FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS MORE THAN 10MM HIGHER THAN THE MAXIMUM MARK ON THE LIPSTICK. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS FINE. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THEIR ANSWER. I HAVE ATTACHED THE PHOTO, THE OIL LEVEL IS EXCEEDING THE ORANGE PLASTIC TO THE METAL PART. ACTUALLY CRV HAS BEEN STOPPED FOR SALE IN CHINA FOR 2 MONTHS UNTIL HONDA INITIATE A RECALL AND EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 6 YEARS. RELIABILITY IS THE MAIN REASON I BOUGHT HONDA, NOW I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. WILL NOT CONSIDER ANY HONDA UNLESS THEY OFFER A SATISFACTORY SOLUTION.
HESITATION ON ACCELERATION. THE SLOWER THE CAR IS MOVING, THE WORSE THE HESITATION. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY MAKING A LEFT TURN IN TRAFFIC.
OIL IS BEING DILUTED WITH GASOLINE.
GASOLINE IS LEAKING IN TO THE OIL. OIL IS WAY ABOVE FULL MARK ON DIP STICK AND THE ODOR OF GASOLINE IS PRESENT. FIRST NOTICED WHAT APPEARED TO BE INCREASES IN OIL ON THE DIP STICK ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO.
"TAKATA RECALL" 2017 HONDA CRV WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON 4/11/18. THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT RETRACT. THE PASSENGER IN THE CAR STRUCK HER HEAD ON THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CRV HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP SINCE 4/17/18. INFORMED BY THE SERVICE PROVIDER THAT NONE OF THE SEAT BELTS RETRACT PROPERLY.
PURCHASED CAR 1/18. TOOK 10 DAY VACATION CAR WAS PARKED DURING THAT PERIOD. CAR BATTERY WAS DEAD WHEN WE RETURNED. HAD AAA JUMP CAR AND TOOK TO DEALER. BATTERY CHECKED AND TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS FINE 6 DAYS LATER BATTERY DEAD HAD HONDA SERVICE TOW CAR TO DEALER. HAD FOUND HONDA TSB 17-032 ONLINE DESCRIBING A BATTERY DRAIN FROM VSA MODULATOR. MADE COPY FOR DEALER BECAUSE THEY WERE 'UNAWARE OF PROBLEM' ASKED THEM TO FOLLOW THE TSB SOFTWARE UPGRADE PROCEDURE WHICH THEY DID BUT WHEN THEY TESTED BATTERY THERE WAS STILL A DRAIN SO THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY AND INFORMED ME I NEED TO DRIVE CAR EVERDAY TO KEEP IT CHARGED, THIS IS OUR SECOND CAR AND IS NOT DRIVEN EVERYDAY AND WE TRAVEL WHICH MEANS THE CAR MAY NOT BE DRIVEN FOR 10 DAYS OR MORE THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT WE NEED TO ACQUIRE A BATTERY CHARGER BECAUSE MOST LIKELY THE BATTERY WOULD BE DEAD. IT SEEMS THAT THE 2017 CRV HAS AN ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. IT PULLS ON THE BATTERY EVEN WHEN THE IGNITION IS OFF. IS HONDA GOING TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. EVERYTIME I GET IN THE CAR I WONDER IF THE CAR WILL START AND THIS AN UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING FOR A BRAND NEW CAR WITH ONLY 540 MILES ON IT.
I HAVE FUEL IN MY OIL AND THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER REPORTS OF THE SAME. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT INVOLVING THE 2017-2018 HONDA CR-V AND CIVIC VEHICLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING FUEL CONTAMINATION OF THE ENGINE OIL THAT COULD RESULT THE FAILURE OF ENGINE BEARING AND OTHER INTERNAL COMPONENTS. THIS MAY RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE OR STALLING WHILE DRIVING. JAPAN'S HONDA TO RECALL 350,000 OVER THIS ENGINE ISSUE. MIGLIACCIO & RATHOD LLP IS INVESTIGATING POTENTIAL CLAIMS OF FUEL DILUTION AND BUILDUP IN THE ENGINE OIL OF 2017-2018 HONDA CR-V AND CIVIC VEHICLES WITH THE 1.5L TURBO ENGINE. UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, UN-COMBUSTED GASOLINE ACCUMULATES IN THE LUBRICANT OIL PAN AND EVAPORATES UNDER HEAT FROM THE ENGINE, THAT THEN ENDS UP BACK IN THE ENGINE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AS FUEL. IN COLD TEMPERATURES, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE MAY NOT WARM UP ENOUGH TO EVAPORATE THE UN-COMBUSTED GASOLINE. HONDA OWNERS ARE REPORTING THAT THIS LEADS TO GASOLINE DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL WHICH MANIFESTS IN A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE CABIN, IN THE SHORT TERM, AND GASOLINE IN THE OIL THAT MAY LEAD TO ENGINE DAMAGE IN THE LONG TERM. SOME DRIVERS HAVE REPORTED THAT THE CAR'S CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT HAS SWITCHED ON AS RESULT. HONDA HAS ALREADY ISSUED A RECALL IN CHINA FOR THE SAME 2017-2018 CR-V'S AND CIVICS, BUT HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL HERE IN THE US.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT SIDE AIR BAG LOOKS LIKE IT DEPLOYED OR OR WAS DEFLATED OR MALFUNCTION WITH NO ACTION TAKEN WHEN WE NOTICED AS WE GOT INTO THE CAR THE NEXT DAY. THE SEAT WITH THE SIDE AIRBAG WAS DEFLATED OR DEFORMED OR SOMETHING. MY WIFE WAS KNOWS IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS BECAUSE SHE WOULD HAVE NOTICED AS DID IMMEDIATELY WHEN SHE SAT DOWN.
GASOLINE IS ENTERING INTO OIL. LOST POWER ON INTERSTATE COULD ONLY GO 12 MPH TOOK OFF RAMP CALLED HONDA THEY TOLD US TO SHUT OFF CAR AND START IT BACK UP. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP.
DURING THE FIRST OIL CHANGE WE REMOVED OVER 5 QUARTS OF LIQUID. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THAT THE CAR HOLDS ONLY 3.7 QUARTS OF OIL. WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY INFORMED US THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE 2017 HONDA CR-V. GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL. I AM NOW GETTING FREE OIL CHANGES, THEY STATED I SHOULD COME IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE WHENEVER THE LIQUID RISES ABOVE THE FILL LINE ON THE DIPSTICK. I HAVE MANAGED TO GET AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 7010 DAYS SINCE APRIL 12, 2018. THE LAST OIL CHANGE I HAD THERE WAS AT LEAST 1 QUART OF GAS IN THE OIL DRAINED OUT OF THE RESERVOIR. THAT WAS 10 DAYS AFTER THE LAST OIL CHANGE. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE ONE TIME I ACTUALLY TALKED TO MY CASE MANAGER SHE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION AND HONDA IS NOT CONSIDERING THIS AN ISSUE. EVERYTHING I HAVE READ SO FAR STATES THAT EXCESS GAS IN THE OIL IS AN ISSUE AND VERY BAD FOR THE ENGINE. I AM CONCERNED THAT MOST CONSUMERS WHO PURCHASED A 2017 HONDA CR-V ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A AIRPORT PARKING LOT FOR 13 DAYS DURING A TRAVEL TRIP. THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND WAS STARTED WITH A JUMP. NO LIGHTS, ACT WERE LEFT ON DURING THIS PERIOD.
WAS DRIVING NORMALLY WHEN ABS, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE KEEPING ASSIST, AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BREAKING, AND BREAKING SYSTEM "PROBLEM" LIGHTS LIT UP ALL AT ONCE. LIMPED THE CAR HOME.
THE OIL IN THE CRV IS DILUTED WITH GASOLINE WHICH WAS DISCOVERED ON THE FIRST OIL CHANGE FOR A NEW VEHICLE. THE VOLUME DRAINED SIGNIFICANTLY EXCEEDED THE NORMAL FULL OIL CAPACITIES. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER WHICH WAS SERVICED ON 2/19/18. THE DEALER CHANGED THE OIL ONCE AGAIN, WHIICH WAS ALSO DILUTED. ALL INJECTORS WERE REPLACED AT THAT TIME. ON OR ABOUT 3/28/18 OUR LOCAL SERVICE FACILITY, PAT'S AUTOMOTIVE IN CARIBOU, ME, CHECKED THE OIL WHICH WAS AGAIN OVERFILLED AND CONTAINED GASOLINE. HONDA WAS AGAIN CONTACTED AND ON 4/3/18 THE OIL WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALER, WAS OVER THE FULL MARK AGAIN, AND WAS DILUTED WITH GASOLINE. THE OIL WAS CHANGED ONCE AGAIN. PER THE DEALER, HONDA TECHLINE WAS CONTACTED AND THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR THE ISSUE AT THIS TIME AND TO CHANGE THE OIL AS NEEDED. THE ISSUE IS VERY CONCERNING AS THE ENGINE OF A NEW VEHICLE DURING THE BREAK IN PERIOD THAT HAS GASOLINE DILUTING AND DISPLACING THE OIL CAN ONLY RESULT IN A SHORTENED ENGINE LIFE.

AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF GASOLINE IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. ALSO THE CAR PRODUCES LITTLE HEAT WHEN THE HEATER IS ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL WAS MIXING WITH THE FUEL. THE DEALER (VANDERGRIFF HONDA, 1104 W INTERSTATE 20, ARLINGTON, TX 76017, (817) 533-4266) NOTICED THE FAILURE AND PERFORMED AN OIL CHANGE AT NO CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE 2,000 MILES LATER. THE CONTACT HAD AN OIL SAMPLE SENT OFF FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE RESULTS SHOWED OVER 5.3% OF FUEL IN THE OIL AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ANY AMOUNT OVER 2% WAS INDICATION OF ANOTHER FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL, BUT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED IN THIS MANNER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
THE NEW GENERATION OF CRV VEHICLES HAVE A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM REGARDING OIL DILUTION WITH FUEL AND OTHER LIQUIDS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND CAN RESULT IN PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE AS WELL AS OTHER PROBLEMS. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE OUR OIL EVERY 500 MILES JUST TO MAKE SURE IT ISN'T TOO HIGH. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, YET THEY ARE SLACKING ON FINDING A FIX. THIS PROBLEM MAY POTENTIALLY BE AFFECTING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES. CHINA ALREADY HALTED SALES OF CRVS UNTIL THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM. DEAR HONDA, FIX THIS PROBLEM! THE LONGER YOU SLACK, THE MORE CUSTOMERS (LIKE ME) YOU WILL LOSE IN THE FUTURE. IF YOU VALUE YOUR REPUTATION AS A RELIABLE CAR MAKER, THEN DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AND GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED.
2017 HONDA CRV WITH 1.5 L TURBO 4 CYLINDER ENGINE. HEALTH HAZARD: NOTED GASOLINE FUMES IN CABIN AFTER STARTING THE CAR. THE FUMES ARE COMING IN THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. HAPPENING IN BOTH COLD AND HOT WEATHER. CAR HAS 30K MILES ON IT. FUMES NOTICED WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY AFTER STARTING IT. ALSO FOUND TO HAVE GAS ENTERING OIL PAN, DILUTING THE OIL, AND CAUSING HIGH OIL LEVELS. SIMILAR REPORTS FROM MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS ENGINE AND APPARENTLY A MAJOR RECALL IN CHINA FOR THE PROBLEM. AM CONCERNED ABOUT HYDROCARBON LEVELS IN THE PASSENGER CABIN WHICH CAN BE A MAJOR HEALTH HAZARD. JUST BECAUSE THE FUMES DISSIPATE AFTER A MINUTE OR SO DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THAT THE HYDROCARBON LEVELS IN THE CABIN ARE NORMAL FOR THE REST OF THE RIDE. OTHER MAJOR CONCERN IS PREMATURE WEAR ON THE ENGINE DUE TO GAS MIXING WITH OIL. ANOTHER CONCERN IS REPORTS OF CRVS WITH THIS PROBLEM STALLING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND FAILING TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. HONDA USA HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM AS OF THIS DATE NOR HAVE THEY OFFERED ANY SOLUTIONS. I FEEL LIKE I WASTED OVER $30K ON A VEHICLE THAT IS NOW UNSAFE AND DESTINED TO PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE. I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
THE 1.5 L TURBO ENGINE DEVELOPS HIGH OIL LEVEL READINGS DUE TO FUEL CONTAMINATION. I HAD SEVERAL (12) SYSTEM FAILURE NOTICES APPEAR SIMULTANEOUSLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY "FOUND THAT OIL LEVEL WAS OVER FULL AND SMELLED LIKE FUEL". ALSO NOTICED THAT IN COLD WEATHER, WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT DEFROSTER IS NOT WARM ENOUGH AND CAN'T KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR RESULTING IN POOR OR NO VISIBILITY. THIS VEHICLE TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO WARM UP. DOES NOT WARM UP AT IDLE. TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO WARM UP WHILE IN MOTION. THE ONLY WAY I'VE FOUND TO GET THE ENGINE UP TO A PROPER TEMPERATURE IS TO TURN OFF ECON MODE, DRIVE IN SPORT MODE AND DO NOT TURN HEATER ON.
MY 2017 HONDA CR-V IT'S A NEW BROCHE WITH ONLY 3,800 MILES AND I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE OIL LEVEL RAISING DRASTICALLY, SO BAD THAT I HAD TO DO AN OIL CHANCE AT ONLY 3,000 MILES WHEN THE FIRST SERVICE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE AT 5,000 MILES. IT'S BEEN 800 MILES SINCE THE OIL CHANGE AND THE OIL LEVEL IS WELL ABOVE THE SECOND MARK ON THE DIPSTICK WITH A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR, YES, FOR THE LITTLE EXPERIENCE I HAVE WITH VEHICLES I'M MORE THAN SURE THIS ENGINE IS MIXING UP GASOLINE WITH THE OIL, REASON WHY THE OIL LEVEL GOES UP AND LOOKS THINNER THAN NORMAL ALMOST LIKE WATER. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THE OIL DELUDE DRASTICALLY THE ENGINE EVENTUALLY WILL FAIL FOR LACK OF LUBRICATION, AND THE WHOLE POWERTRAIN WILL BE DAMAGE! HONDA NEEDS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUES ASAP OR RISK MANY CARS NEEDING A NEW ENGINE SOON! THE ENGINE OIL WAS CHECKED AND THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF FUEL ON THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA WORLD (LOCATED AT 1 AUTOCENTER DR, LOUISVILLE, KY 40299, (502) 398-6398) AND THE ENGINE OIL WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ENGINE OIL AND FUEL DILUTION IN SIMILAR VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,452. *BF *JB
THE ANTI-COLLISION AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM INCORRECTLY ENGAGED WHEN APPROACHING A FLAT METAL PLATE IN THE PARKING LOT OF A SHOPPING CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT APPROX. 5-10 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY STARTED BEEPING, AND FLASHING THE "BRAKE" WARNING ALERT ON THE DRIVER'S DASHBOARD CONSOLE. I WAS DRIVING AND, NOT SEEING ANY PEOPLE OR APPROACHING VEHICLES OR ANYTHING ELSE AHEAD OF ME, DIDN'T KNOW WHY THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING WAS FLASHING A WARNING. BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO "GENTLY" BRAKE TO SEE WHAT THE SITUATION WAS, SUDDENLY THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM "VIOLENTLY" ENGAGED, BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP JUST BEFORE THE METAL PLATE. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOGRAPH OF THE METAL PLATE THAT I TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES LATER. THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE WHEN GOING BACK OVER THE PLATE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, OR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MARCH 25, 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:45 PM ARIZONA TIME. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER THE NEXT DAY TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. NO SERVICE MANAGER WAS AVAILABLE TO SPEAK WITH ME, AND THE RECEPTIONIST SAID THAT SHE WOULD LEAVE A MESSAGE WITH ONE OF THEM. I HAVE YET TO BE CALLED BACK, 4 WEEKS LATER. I WANT THE HONDA DEALER TO READ THE CODES FROM THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM(S) TO 1) VERIFY THAT THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED, AND 2) SEE IF THERE IS ANY SUPPORTING DATA FOR WHY THE SYSTEM INCORRECTLY ENGAGED. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I WANT TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT TO THE NHTSA. DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH TURNED UP SEVERAL OTHER PUBLIC REPORTS ON WEBSITES OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS. A FALSE POSITIVE FOR AN IMPENDING COLLISION WAS DETERMINED BY THE VEHICLE'S "SMART SYSTEM" ALGORITHMS, WHICH THEN TRIGGERED A PHYSICAL REACTION (AUTOMATIC INVOLUNTARY BRAKING). FORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT ONLY 5-10 MPH, RATHER THAN 45 MPH ON A CITY ROAD OR 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH, THE BRAKE MITIGATION SYSTEM SUDDENLY ACTIVATED ABRUPTLY APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY AND CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND SPIN OUT BEFORE CRASHING INTO A GUARD RAIL. DURING THE CRASH, THE FRONT END SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT INDICATED NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE PRESENT WHEN THE MITIGATION SYSTEM ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK BACK AND CHEST INJURIES AND THE OCCUPANT SEATED IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT SUSTAINED NECK, BACK AND FRONT TORSO INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT YET NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
AFTER SMELLING STRONG ODOR OF GAS,(CAR IDLING) CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK OIL LEVEL. THE OIL LEVEL WAS OVER FULL AND SMELLED LIKE GAS . OTHER HONDA VEHICLES WHICH HAVE THE SAME 1.5T ENGINE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE HERE IN THE STATES. I AM TOLD HONDA RECOMMENDS MONITORING THE OIL LEVEL AND CHANGING IT EVERY 500 MILES UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS REMEDIED. WHAT IF SOMEONE DOESN'T REALIZE THEIR OIL LEVEL IS OVERFULL AND THE OIL SYSTEM OVER PRESSURIZES OR THE GAS IGNITES INSIDE THE OIL SUMP WHILE DRIVING? AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM SOME HONDA CARS USING THIS SAME 1.5T ENGINES IN CANADA AND CHINA ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE.
2017 HONDA CR-V ENGINE OIL LEVEL RISING, WITHIN 2000 MILES OF DRIVING, PAST TOP OF ORANGE PLASTIC DIPSTICK WHICH WOULD INDICATE AN OIL LEVEL MORE THAN 1/2 QUART HIGH AFTER BEING FILLED CORRECTLY BY DEALER TO THE 3.7 QUART HIGH LEVEL MARK. THIS OIL DILUTION (MOST LIKELY WITH GASOLINE AS THE OIL IS NOT TURNING WHITE AS WHEN WATER ENTERS THE OIL) REDUCES THE VISCOSITY OF THE 0-20W OIL WHICH COULD LEAD TO ENGINE BEARING SURFACES SEIZING AT SOME INOPPORTUNE TIME. ORANGE PLASTIC DIPSTICK IS DIFFICULT TO READ AND OIL LEVEL SHOULD BE ONLY READ AFTER THE ENGINE IS STOPPED FOR THREE MINUTES PER THE MANUAL...GUESS WE NEED A STOPWATCH. COLD ENGINE OIL LEVELS ARE EVEN HIGHER. OWNERS MANUAL P559 SPECIFICALLY STATES THAT THE OIL SHOULD NOT BE OVERFILLED. OVERFILLING CAN CAUSE AERATION OF THE OIL, CAUSING OIL PUMPING PROBLEMS, OR REDUCING LUBRICATION OF BEARING SURFACES. HAVE TO CALL HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE, START CASE#, AND PLEAD FOR FREE EXTRA OIL CHANGES WHEN HIGH LEVEL IS OBVIOUS AFTER SEVERAL READINGS.
I CHECKED THE LEVEL OF THE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK AND THE LEVEL SHOWS AS BEING HIGH, PAST THE 'FULL" REFERENCE POINT WITH A FEW MILLIMETERS. ALSO, THE OIL HAS A STRONG GAS ODOR. THE MILEAGE ON THE ENGINE IS 8454, AND THE FIRST OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED AT 6547 MILES, 2 MONTHS AGO.
MY CAR IS A 2017 HONDA CRV TOURING WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBOCHARGED ENGINE AND 3200 MILES. ON 3/18/2018 I WAS DRIVING AT 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 180 IN PENNSYLVANIA WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED, LOST POWER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS REPORTED MALFUNCTIONS IN THE DASH DISPLAY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALER AND DIAGNOSED WITH EXCESS GAS (APPROXIMATELY ONE QUART) IN THE OIL. THE OIL AND FILTER WAS CHANGED AS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION, AND A TECH LINE CASE (REF # 4089104) WAS OPENED WITH HONDA. I WAS TOLD AT THIS TIME THERE IS NO PERMANENT RECALL OR FIX. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN COLD CLIMATES WHERE THE CAR IS USED FOR SHORT DRIVES AND DOES NOT WARM UP COMPLETELY. SINCE THEN I HAVE LEARNED THAT ALL CRVS WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBOCHARGED ENGINE HAVE BEEN RECALLED IN CHINA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
GAS IS LEAKING INTO CRANKCASE AND DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL THEREFORE RAISING THE OIL LEVEL ABOVE THE MAX FILL LINE. ENGINE OIL HAS GAS ODOR AND OIL SEEMS THINNER DUE TO DILUTION WITH GASOLINE.
BOUGHT THIS 2017 CRV EXL-NAV AWD IN 05/2017. WE DID THE FIRST MAINTENANCE ON MARCH 17 TO CHANCE OIL IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND THERE IS OIL LEAKAGE. THEY SCHEDULED A ANOTHER DAY TO FIX IT BY ADDING SOME SILICA GLUE UNDER WARRANTY. I CAN NOT BELIEVE A NEW CAR WITHIN 1 YEAR AND 8000 MILES HAS OIL LEAKING ISSUE. RELIABILITY IS THE MAIN REASON I BOUGHT HONDA, NOW I AM SO DISAPPOINTED.
THE OIL LEVEL IN THE CRANK CASE CONTINUALLY RISES AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. WITHIN 5000 MILES, AND 40% OIL LIFE ACCORDING TO THE MAINTENANCE MINDER, IT HAD RISEN WELL ABOVE THE MAX LINE ON THE DIP STICK.
VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW IN 8/17 AND HAS 8900 MILES. TOURING TRIM WITH 1.5L TURBO ENGINE AND AWD. OIL LEVEL HAS INCREASED WELL ABOVE FULL MARK AFTER BOTH OF TWO OIL CHANGES DONE SINCE PURCHASED AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF FUEL. LAST OIL CHANGE WAS DONE JUST 375 MILES BACK. DEALER DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS AND NHTSA COMPLAINTS ON RECORD. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO INADEQUATE LUBRICATION / POSSIBLE COLLISION DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOWUP WITH DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND DOCUMENT ACTIONS TAKEN IN ORDER TO SUPPORT ANY FUTURE LEGAL ACTION TO REMEDY THIS SERIOUS DEFECT.

PULLED OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE DOWN. WOULD NOT RESTART. CALLED EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR TOWING TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT HONDA STATED IT IS A COMMON ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER (I LIVE AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN NORTHERN WI - LAME EXCUSE. WHEY SELL THEM HERE IF THEY DON'T WORK IN THE COLD). THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND VARIOUS OTHER ENGINE PARTS. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE SATELLITE RADIO RECEIVER REPLACED (IT BURNT OUT). THERE WAS FUEL IN THE ENGINE OIL. ALL THIS WITH LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON THE 2017 HONDA CR-V. NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE. IT RUNS NOW, BUT THE ENGINE IS MUCH LOUDER WITH A NOTICABLE CLICKING NOISE THAT WASN'T THERE WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I WAS PLANNING A MAIDEN VOYAGE FROM WI TO SEATTLE, WA (TO VISIT ELDERLY MOTHER WHO LIVES THERE) BUT LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE'S RELIABILITY. WHAT IS MY FIX FOR THIS? DEALERSHIP BALKED AT THE SUGGESTION OF REPLACING THE VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER ONE. OVERALL, I THINK THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE TO HAVE AN AUTOMOBILE COMPLETELY FAIL IN TRAFFIC. LIMPING OFF THE ROADWAY AT A MAXIMUM POSSIBLE SPEED OF 10 MPH IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER AND THE MAKINGS FOR POSSIBLE FATAL CONSEQUENCES. HONDA SHOULD BE LOOKING SERIOUSLY INTO THIS ISSUE AND NOT MAKING LAME EXCUSES LIKE THIS HAPPENS TO THE CR-V IN COLD WEATHER ([XXX]). NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED 6 MONTHS LATER, THE CAR WAS NOT TURNED ON FOR 1 DAY. BATTERY TESTED FINE AND THE DEALER SAID THERE IS NO PARISITIC DRAW OR ANY OTHER PROBLEM. WITH MY PERSISTENCE, DEALER DID A SYSTEM UPDATE. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN THE FIRST YEAR OF HAVING A CAR. PLENTY OF 2017 CRV OWNERS ARE SAYING THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER, AGAIN, BUT THEY CANNOT DO MUCH WITHOUT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. I IMMEDIATELY DID A GOOGLE SEARCH OF THIS ISSUE, KNOWING THAT OUR LAST OIL CHANGE WAS LESS THAN 3,000 MILES AGO FROM OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND I WAS SHOCKED WITH THE RESULTS. THOUSANDS OF OWNERS WITH THE 2017-2018 CRV WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINE ARE HAVING THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS CALLED OIL DILUTION AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL BUT THE REASONS ARE UNKNOWN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND HAD MY CAR IN THE NEXT DAY. THEY SCHEDULED A CALL WITH HONDA ENGINEERS THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND THEY WERE ADVISED TO CHANGE THE OIL AND DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. THEY DID SO AND THE GAS VOLUME FILLED UP VERY QUICKLY IN THE NEW OIL SO THE NEXT STEP WAS TO REPLACE THE FUEL INJECTORS. BASED ON MY RESEARCH ONLINE MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROCEDURE PERFORMED WHICH DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. HOWEVER THE INJECTORS WERE REPLACED ON MY CAR AND THE VEHICLE WAS GIVEN BACK TO ME, CLAIMED TO HAVE BEEN FULLY FIXED. NEEDLESS TO SAY LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND ONCE AGAIN IT'S WELL ABOVE THE FULL MARK WITH A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I'VE CALLED HONDA CORPORATE AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST PLAIN SUCKS. LACK OF EMPATHY, LACK OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THIS BEING A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND NO RESOLUTION OF CONCERNS. I'M CURRENTLY FIGHTING WITH THEM, PLEADING TO GET A EXTENSION ON THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AS THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT ENGINE DAMAGE HAS ALREADY OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC BRAKE SYSTEM INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, BUT THERE WERE NO VEHICLES AHEAD. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON BACK ROADS AND SIDE STREETS. IN ADDITION, THE AUTO SAFETY FEATURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOCH HONDA (3927, 279 BOSTON PROVIDENCE HWY, NORWOOD, MA 02062, (877) 657-6352) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE UPDATE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
PERSISTENT GAS FUME ODOR INSIDE THE CAR
OIL OVERFILLING AND SMELL OF GASOLINE ON DIPSTICK. DEALER CHANGES OIL AND SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM BUT A FEW HUNDRED MILES LATER THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. THIS IS CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE.
I WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THEN SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED MOVING FORWARD DESPITE MY HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND I WOUND UP CRASHING INTO MY CAR INTO MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE, WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE AND MY CAR. I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES
