JUST AS WE WERE APPROACHING THE 4000FT DESCENT TO THE VALLEY FLOOR, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIT UP WITH MULTIPLE WARNINGS, THE FIRST BEING MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE WHICH WAS FIRST SOFT, THEN IMMEDIATELY BECAME HARD TO PRESS DOWN TO STOP THE CAR. A SMALL TURNOFF ALLOWED ME TO GET THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED. MULTIPLE WARNINGS CONTINUED ACROSS THE SCREEN. SHUT OFF THE CAR TO RESTART THE COMPUTER, THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. SAME MESSAGES. CHECKED EXTERIOR OF CAR, TIRES, OIL. ALL WELL. TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS TESTED FOR EBB AND ESB FAILURE, ECU FAILURE. ELECTRONIC BOOSTER WAS REPLACED AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM BLED. HONDA HAD THE CAR FOR 7 DAYS. YESTERDAY WE PICKED UP THE CR-V, HAVING BEEN TOLD THAT IT WAS REPAIRED AND READY TO GO. WE DROVE AWAY, BUT LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE DEALER/SERVICE LOCATION, THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED - INSTRUMENT PANEL LIT UP MULTIPLE WARNINGS WITH BRAKE THE MOST EMPHATIC. I WAS NOT BRAKING WHEN THE WARNING CAME, BUT IMMEDIATELY BRAKED TO GET OFF THE ROAD. AGAIN THE GRINDING SOUNDS AND DIFFICULTY PRESSING HARD ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR. CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED AND WE DO NOT TRUST ANY REPAIR AT THIS POINT. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED ON THE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY AND ARE NOT WILLING TO RISK OUR LIVES AGAIN.
GAS SMELL IN CABIN. ENGINE OIL LEVEL HAS RISEN AND SMELLS LIKE GAS. SMELL HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.

ON MARCH 1ST 2018 THE ENGINE STALLED TWICE *(WITH ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON) IN A HEAVILY CONGESTED PART OF OUR CITY. . STRONG SMELL OF FUEL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN. WAS DRIVING TO VISIT FRIENDS FOR LUNCH ON OPPOSITE END (SOUTH) WHERE I WORK. THE FIRST STALL OCCURRED ON A SERVICE ROAD LEADING TO RESTAURANT. THE 2ND STALL OCCURRED DRIVING BACK FROM RESTAURANT TO WORK..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TOUCH SCREEN FOR THE VEHICLE CONTROLS AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO UMANSKY HONDA (LOCATED AT 960 HILTON HEIGHTS RD, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA 22901, (888) 686-9143) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
The contact's mother owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in the garage, there was a strong fuel and oil odor coming from the vehicle. Upon opening the hood to inspect the vehicle, it was discovered that the engine oil also had a fuel odor. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the computer software needed to be updated to correct the failure. The contact stated that the software update was completed. No further information was available. The vehicle was taken back to the contact's residence; however, the vehicle later failed to start. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact also stated that the battery had previously failed on several occasions and was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. The VIN was not available.
2017 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO CONCERNS WITH THE ENGINE NOT WARMING UP. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE BLOWS COLD AIR AT STOP SIGNS, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO UNFOG THE WINDOWS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED, THE CONSUMER SIMPLY LIVED IN A COLD AREA. THE MANUFACTURER STATED A DESIGN CHANGE WOULD BE CREATED FOR FUTURE MODELS. *JS
I PURCHASED A 2017 CRV FROM ASHLAND HONDA AND TOYOTA IN ASHLAND, WI IN AUGUST 2017. ON FEBRUARY 23, 2018, MY CAR WHICH HAS 5500 MILES ON IT, STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE AND BEGAN LOSING POWER WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE NOISE CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH ASHLAND HONDA AND TOYOTA TO SERVICE THE CALL. HONDA CORPORATE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER (JERRY) AT ASHLAND HONDA AND TOYOTA DETERMINED THROUGH VIDEO CHATS AND CONFERENCE CALLS THAT THE CAMS WERE DESTROYED IN MY ENGINE. THEY BELIEVE THIS HAD TO DO WITH FUEL AND OIL MIXING AND GETTING INTO THE ENGINE. HONDA REQUESTED THAT ASHLAND HONDA REPLACE THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL AND OIL MIXING AND DESTROYING THE ENGINE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT IS INVOLVED DUE TO EMISSIONS, THIS ISSUE WILL BE CONTINUING, AND AT THIS TIME THERE IS NO FIX. HE ALSO STATED THAT CORPORATE INFORMED HIM THIS WAS A REGIONAL ISSUE DUE TO OUR CLIMATE, AND THEY ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A SOFTWARE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. NO RESOLUTION AT THIS POINT. CORPORATE FURTHER STATED THAT THEY ARE SEEING THIS ISSUE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BETWEEN 10 AND 30 DEGREES. I WAS OFFERED A 100,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY AND RECOMMENDED THAT I GO TO THE DEALER EVERY 500 MILES TO GET AN OIL CHANGE TO SEE IF FUEL IS MIXING WITH THE OIL. SHOCKED AT THE LACK OF RESOLUTION, I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER IF HONDA CORPORATE WAS COMFORTABLE GIVING ME MY CAR BACK AFTER THE CAMS WERE REPLACED WITH NO RESOLUTION, AND HE SAID YES. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS IS ETHICAL AT ALL FOR HONDA TO NOT HAVE A FIX TO AN ENGINE PROBLEM THAT COULD ENDANGER MYSELF AND/OR MY FAMILY. THE CAR ENGINE IS BEING REPLACED WHEN PARTS ARE DELIVERED. AGAIN, NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM WITH THE OIL AND GAS COMBINING AND FIXING ISSUE.
NOTICED GAS FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE SOON AFTER PURCHASE IN OCTOBER 2017. AT FIRST NOTICED IT AFTER I FUELED VEHICLE. THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD STEPPED IN PUDDLE OF GASOLINE AT THE PUMPS. AFTER A MONTH REALIZED THE GAS FUMES GOT WORSE IF I WAS IDLING MY VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY, IF I WAS PARKED FOR A HALF HOUR WITH CAR RUNNING(WINTER IN CENTRAL NEW YORK) WHILE I ATE MY LUNCH. I CAN SMELL IT OUTSIDE AROUND MY VEHICLE WHEN I PULL MY CAR INTO MY GARAGE AT HOME. TODAY I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE FOR A FUEL LEAK SINCE THE FUMES ARE SO STRONG. I EVEN ASKED THEM TO IDLE THE CAR AND CHECK IT. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING IN THE HALF HOUR. THEY HAVE ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK AND LEAVE IT FOR AWHILE NEXT TIME. I HAVE OWNED 3 HONDA VEHICLES BEFORE THIS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO WAY STREET NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME FOR AT LEAST OVER HALF A MILE AND THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPPED (32 MPH TO 7 MPH) WITHIN SECONDS. THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE ROAD, CLEAR WEATHER CONDITIONS. I WENT FORWARD AND MY PURSUE FELL ON THE FLOOR. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO CAR BEHIND ME OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (MCGRATH CITY HONDA, 6720 W GRAND AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60707) WHERE THEY CHANGED THE OIL. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE OIL LEVEL WAS HIGH AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500.
CAR PURCHASED JULY 1, 2017. JAN 6, 2018 BATTERY DIED AFTER SITTING FOR ROUGHLY 2 DAYS. HONDA CHECKED BATTERY AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. FRIDAY, FEB 16, 2018 SAME PROBLEM: DEAD BATTERY. CAR WAS SITTING FOR 3 DAYS PRIOR TO DISCOVERY. THERE ARE NO SUPPLEMENTAL ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the warning message "Brake" illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently engaged the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that she released and then depressed the accelerator pedal and continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle engaged the brake pedal independently and completely stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure because the OBD reader could not read any codes. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to follow up with the dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
THE KEY FOB WILL AUTOMATIC OPEN ALL WINDOWS AND MOON ROOF IF UNLOCK BUTTON IS HIT IN A CERTAIN SEQUENCE ACCIDENTALLY. ALSO, YOU CAN ACCIDENTALLY OPEN TAILGATE. HONDA NEEDS TO HAVE A DISABLE FEATURE. BOTH OF THESE HAVE HAPPEN TWICE ON ME.

I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY EARLY IN THE MORNING, STILL DARK, AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR APPLIED THE BRAKES. THERE WAS NO ONE OR OBSTACLE IN FRONT OF ME AND FORTUNATELY NO ONE BEHIND ME. THE BRAKES RELEASED AS SUDDENLY AS THEY APPLIED AND ALL RETURNED TO NORMAL.
PROBLEM: THE 'APPLY 'BRAKES' LIGHT' APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY AND THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED, DRAGGING THE CAR FROM 65MPH TO 25 IN ABOUT 80 FEET. THE SUV BEHIND ME NARROWLY AVOIDED HITTING ME. THERE WERE NO CARS IN MY LANE AHEAD OF ME FOR EST. 7 CAR LENGTHS. NARRATIVE: CLEAR DAY ON THE CAPITAL BELTWAY, 495, INNER LOOP IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD EXIT IN VIRGINIA. I HAD ACCELERATED FROM 30MPH TO MERGE FROM THE HIGHWAY 7/LEESBURG PIKE ON-RAMP ONTO THE 495 INNER LOOP INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS FIRST LANE FROM THE RIGHT IS A 'FILTER' LANE WHERE ON-BOARDING CARS AND EXITING CARS MUST FILTER ONTO THE FREEWAY OR AN EXIT IN ABOUT .2 MILES. AFTER ENTERING THE HEAVILY TRAFFICKED FILTER LANE I CLEARED AND ENTERED THE SECOND FREEWAY LANE, MAKING 65MPH TO MATCH TRAFFIC. NOBODY WAS TURNING INTO MY LANE. MY LANE (SECOND FROM RIGHT) WAS CLEAR AN ESTIMATED 7 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF MY CAR, BUT LANES AROUND ME WERE HEAVILY TRAVELLED DUE TO SEVERAL EXITS IN A SHORT DISTANCE. (TYSONS CORNER/HIGHWAY 7, CHAIN BRIDGE RD (VA 123), DULLES TOLL ROAD (VA 267). AFTER PASSING THE CHAIN BRIDGE EXIT, BEFORE ENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL, I WAS JERKED FORWARD INTO THE SHOULDER RESTRAINT AS THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED: THE 'BRAKE' INDICATOR SHOWING ON THE DASH. I LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND NOTED A SUV HEAVILY BRAKING TO AVOID IMPACT. I HIT THE ACCELERATOR HARD TO INCREASE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN IT AND ME, MAKING THE BRAKES DISENGAGE. SPECULATION: THIS MODEL FREQUENTLY LOCKS ONTO CARS LEAVING MY LANE AHEAD OF MY COURSE OF TRAVEL AND HEAVILY DEACCELERATES AS THEY SLOW TO EXIT SPEED. MANY CARS WERE JOCKEYING TO EXIT IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT. MY SUSPICION IS THE ACTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS TRAKING SOME CAR IN THE RIGHT FILTER LANE AND APPLIED BRAKES TO MATCH THEIR EXIT SPEED, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 20MPH.
THE 1.5 TURBO ENGINE'S ALL EXPERIENCE A COOLANT HEATING UP UNDER 32DEGREES F PROBLEM. AT IDLE THE TEMPERATURE COOLS DOWN AND HEATER DOES NOT SUPPLY WARM AIR. ALSO THE ENGINE OIL IS BEING DILUTED BY AN OVERLY RICH MIXTURE CAUSING UNBURNED GAS TO ENTER THE CRANKCASE DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL AND CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE. DEALER HAS NO CLUE WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO WHY SO I HAVE TO CHANGE OIL EVE3RY 1000 MILES TO PROTECT THE ENGINE
THE DISPLAY IN MY 2017 HONDA CR V EX WILL START BEEPING AT RANDOM AND THE BRIGHTNESS WILL START GOING UP AND DOWN BY ITSELF. IT IS VERY DISTRACTING. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS COMPLAIN OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, BUT I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THAT DON'T HAVE A FIX. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE STATIONARY.
SOMETIMES, AUTOBREAK KICKS OFF WHEN DRIVING APPROACHING A BRIDGE ON A SUNNY DAY OR IN A CONSTRUCTION AREA WHERE THE LANES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED OR NARROWER WITH CONSTRUCTION CONES. THIS IS SUPER SCARY AND MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED COLLISIONS WITH CAR BEHIND, WHO IS NOT ANTICIPATING ANY ABRUPT BREAK/STOPPAGE
THERE'S A GASOLINE ODOR INSIDE THE CARS CABIN AND UNDER THE HOOD, NO GAS LEAKS ARE VISIBLE. THE CAR HESITATES DURING FULL THROTTLE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF SOMEONES WAY OR ENTER THE HIGHWAY SAFELY. .
I PURCHASED A NEW 2017 HONDA CR-V ON 1/19/18 AND ON 1/29/18 THE CAR STARTED BEEPING AND THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM, COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, ROAD DEPARTURE SYSTEM PROBLEM, AND BRAKE SYSTEM. THE BRAKES FELT LESS RESPONSIVE AND SQUISHY. ON 1/29/18 I CONTACTED SUPERSTITION SPRINGS HONDA (WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR) IMMEDIATELY. THEY UPDATED AND RESET THE RADAR SYSTEM BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP. I LEFT MY CAR 2 DAYS SO THEY COULD REPLACE THE RADAR AND THE CAR WORKED FINE UNTIL 3/31/18 WHEN AGAIN IT BEEPED, THE MESSAGES APPEARED AGAIN, AND THE BRAKES FELT LESS RESPONSIVE AGAIN. I'LL TAKE THE CAR BACK AGAIN TOMORROW (CLOSED TODAY FOR EASTER) BUT I'M VERY CONCERNED THIS WILL BE A CONTINUED PROBLEM ON A CAR THAT I'VE HAD LESS THAN 3 MONTHS.
THE "TAILGATE COVER" DETACHED AND FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH - NOT TURNING, STOPPING, OR DECELERATING. THANKFULLY, IT HIT THE ROAD SURFACE AND NOT ANOTHER DRIVER! UPON STOPPING AND CLOSER INSPECTION, THERE ARE THREE (3) BROKEN PLASTIC PEG-LIKE THINGS STILL IN THEIR CONNECTORS. THERE ARE TWO SCREWS WITH BROKEN PLASTIC AROUND THEM. THERE ARE THREE WHITE PORTS WITH NO PINS CONNECTED, LEAVING ME TO ASSUME THOSE THREE CONNECTING PINS WERE NOT ADEQUATELY ENGAGED LEADING TO THE FAILURE.
CENTER CONSOLE UNIT REFUSES TO DIM UNDER ANY LIGHTING CONDITIONS. ATTEMPTING TO MANUALLY DIM IT RESULTS IN MOMENTARY DIMMING AND THEN RETURN TO FULL BRIGHTNESS. THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT AND REQUIRES THAT I SHUT OFF THE CENTER UNIT COMPLETELY IN ORDER TO DRIVE SAFELY. ACCORDING TO HONDA THIS IS A KNOWN SOFTWARE ISSUE ON THE WHOLE RANGE OF 5TH GEN CRVS BUT THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED ANY FIXES.
ON JANUARY 25, 2018, I WENT OUT & GOT INTO MY 2017 HONDA CR-V TOURING, STARTED IT AND THEN GOT OUT AND RAN BACK INTO HOUSE FOR A BOTTLE OF WATER. WHEN I CAME OUT, MY CAR HAD TRAVELED ACROSS THE STREET (FLAT SURFACE) AND HAD LODGED AGAINST MY NEIGHBORS TREE. WHAT CAUSED THE CAR TO COME OUT OF GEAR OR IF I HAD LEFT IT IN GEAR, WHY WASN'T IT ROLLING WHEN I GOT OUT? HAVE THERE BEEN PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL HONDA? I INCURRED APPROXIMATELY $4,000 DAMAGE AND I WASN'T EVEN IN VEHICLE!
NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE INFOTAINMENT DISPLAY RANDOMLY CHANGES BRIGHTNESS AND BEGINS FLICKERING AND CYCLING THROUGH SCREENS WHILE BEEPING. THIS OCCURS DURING BOTH DAY AND NIGHTTIME DRIVING, AND ON BOTH SHORT AND LONG TRIPS. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE OR DO A "HARD RESET" WITH THE BATTERY. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS SIGNIFICANT DEFECT AND HAS NO FIX FOR IT. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING DURING SNOW/RAIN, THE VEHICLE RADAR SYSTEMS STOP FUNCTIONING AND A MESSAGE APPEARS THAT THEY ARE "OBSTRUCTED", WHICH IS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF THE INTENT OF THIS SAFETY FEATURE. GIVEN THAT THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM CONTROLS A LOT OF THE SAFETY FEATURES, HONDA NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION OR THE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED.
I PURCHASED A 2018 HONDA CRV FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALER, HERB CHAMBERS HONDA BURLINGTON, LAST FALL. THE CAR HAD PERFORMED VERY RELIABLY UNTIL JANUARY 24, WHEN, WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE OUTSIDE OF BOSTON THE HOOD OF THE CAR OPENED AND SMASHED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SAFELY IN ORDER TO INSPECT THE CAR. THE CAR SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE HOOD AND FENDERS. OVER THE COURSE OF MY OWNERSHIP ' I NEVER OPENED THE HOOD NOR DID I EVER HEAR OR NOTICE ANY RATTLING. I BROUGHT THE CRV IMMEDIATELY TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER (HERB CHAMBERS) FOR REPAIR, WHICH I ASSUMED WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I ALSO REQUESTED ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION SINCE I HAVE A COMMUTE IN EXCESS OF 20 MILES. HOWEVER, SINCE THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY A DEFECT TO A PART IT WAS NOT COVERED AND BY IMPLICATION MY FAULT AND I WOULD HAVE TO FIND MY OWN TRANSPORTATION. I CONTACTED THE DEALER I PURCHASE THE CRV FROM AND THE GENERAL MANAGER INDICATED THAT IT WAS NOT A DEALERSHIP ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DID CONTACT THEM AND THEY WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE ME A 3 DAY CAR RENTAL ' WHICH WAS NOT ADEQUATE SINCE I AM EXPECTING TO BE WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS. EVERYONE I HAVE DEALT WITH FROM HONDA HAS BEEN KIND AND COURTEOUS. HOWEVER, IN EACH AND EVERY CONTACT THEY HAVE INDICATED THAT WITHOUT A VISIBLE DEFECT, IT IS NOT HONDA'S PROBLEM. RECALL RELATED TO VARIOUS DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WHICH COULD RESULT FROM MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT(S) RELATING TO (GASOLINE) FUEL SYSTEM. ACCORDINGLY, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA DEALER FOR REPAIR ON 01/24/18 PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT TIME OF 10:15 A.M. HONDA SERVICE CONSULTANT WAS ADVISED AT THE TIME THE APPOINTMENT WAS MADE THAT LESSEE OR HER REPRESENTATIVE WOULD NEED TO WAIT FOR THE REPAIR TO BE COMPLETED BECAUSE OF THE LONG COMMUTE INVOLVED. PER HONDA RECALL NOTICE, THE REPAIR WAS TO "... TAKE APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR 15 MINUTES." IN FACT, IT TOOK 3 HOURS 27 MINUTES. (SEE ATTACHED.) DURING THE COURSE OF THE REPAIR, THE SERVICE CONSULTANT ADVISED LESSEE'S REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE TECHNICIAN "HASN'T DONE ONE OF THESE BEFORE", AND THAT "I'VE GOT THE SHOP FOREMAN ON IT NOW." HAVING OBVIOUSLY INCOMPETENT PERSONNEL HANDLE SUCH A REPAIR IS PATENTLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND SUBJECTS CONSUMERS TO UNNECESSARY DANGERS, NOT TO MENTION WASTING CONSUMERS' TIME. HONDA OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT TAKE ITS RESPONSIBILITIES TO ITS CUSTOMERS SERIOUSLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE DRIVER WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BUMPER AND REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE WERE DAMAGED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIBS AND LEFT SIDE OF THE BODY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED CHEST INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
IT SMELLS LIKE GAS IN THE CAR
DURING A REGULAR DRIVING, DASHBOARD LIGHT UP WITH SEVERAL SYSTEMS MALFUNCTION AND WARNINGS LIGHTS. CAR IS 2YEAR OLD WITH 30000 MILES BUT ISSUE IS BEEN AROUND SINCE IT WAS 4000 MILES SEVERAL VISITS TO THE DEALER GOT REPLACED BATTERY ON 1ST AND ALTERNATOR ON LAST VISIT. AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN
ON SEVERAL SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS LOST POWER AND STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
PARASITIC BATTERY DRAIN. CAR WILL NOT START AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. DEALER PERFORMED SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM TO D ME THAT HONDA HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE PROBLEM
ON A DAY WITH SIGNIFICANT WINTER WEATHER I DROVE MY VEHICLE AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION AND PARKED I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE STATE OF THE DOOR LOCK DIDN'T MATTER. I CALLED A FRIEND WHO CAME OVER TO HELP. THEY SAID THAT THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAD FAILED TO RETRACT FULLY. THEY PUSHED IT IN AND THE DOOR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY ABLE TO OPEN. THE FAILURE OF THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO RETURN TO THE CLOSED POSITION APPEARED TO BE DUE TO A BIT OF ICE. THE APPARENT SITUATION IS THAT IF THE EXTERIOR HANDLE IS OUT OF POSITION THEN THE INTERIOR HANDLE CAN FAIL TO OPEN THE DOOR.
PERIODIC GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE, MOST NOTABLY WHEN IT IS VERY COLD. ALSO, HIGH OIL LEVEL WITH THE APPEARANCE OF GASOLINE MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL. TO DATE, VEHICLE HAS NOT STALLED OR LEFT ME STRANDED. COMPLAINT FILED WITH AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY AND DEALER VISIT SCHEDULED TO EVALUATE.

JANUARY 12, 2018 INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT COMPLETELY DARK. (RAIN RELATED?) DROVE CAR THROUGH RAIN, PARKED AND TURNED CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN GOT BACK IN AND STARTED CAR, INSTRUMENT PANEL, IGNITION SWITCH AND SHIFT LEVER LIGHTS ALL OFF. ECON MODE INDICATOR REMAINED ON. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER TPMS INDICATOR CAME ON. INSTRUMENT PANEL UNRESPONSIVE TO BRIGHTNESS CONTROL KNOB OR HEADLIGHT SELECTION. WHEN PARKED AGAIN, ALL DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK WITH DRIVER DOOR OPENING. JANUARY 13, 2018 ISSUES APPEAR TO BE RESOLVED WHEN CAR STARTED. ALL INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS BACK ON. TPMS RESET AND DID NOT TURN ON AGAIN. REPORTED ISSUE ON HONDA SERVICE SITE.
I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES ENGAGE TWICE THROUGH THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME.DANGEROUS AS I COULD BE REAR ENDED.AND THE OIL LEVEL RISES WITH FUEL DILUTION AND GAS FUMES ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.VEHICLE MISFIRED AND SHUTDOWN ON HIGHWAY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND BREATHING GAS FUMES.
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HEAT UP WHEN IDLING WHICH MEAN REMOTE START TO CLEAR THE ICE FROM THE WINDSHIELD AND WARM THE CABIN DOES NOT WORK. HONDA TOLD ME IT HAS TO BE DRIVEN TO PRODUCE HEAT. THEY'VE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM. I HAVE TO DRIVE TO WORK DOWN A DECLINE FOR 8 MILES. AFTER 4 MILES THE ENGINE GAUGE BEGINS TO RISE AND THEN BY THE TIME I REACH 8 MILES (BOTTOM OF THE HILL) THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE BOTTOMS OUT BACK DOWN TO THE COLD. THE HEAT THAT MAY HAVE STARTED HOW EVER FEEBLE IS NOW ONCE AGAIN COLD. ANY ICE ON THE WINDOWS IS STILL THERE BECAUSE THE WHOLE CAR INSIDE IS STILL COLD. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE HEATED SEATS I'D FREEZE TO DEATH. THE SERVICE MANAGER CAME TO TAKE MY CAR ONE MORNING AND SAW THIS HAPPEN. HE WAS TOLD BY HONDA THE ENGINE DOESN'T PRODUCE HEAT WITH OUT A LOAD ON IT. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SOLD NORTH OF OHIO. IT IS UNSAFE. I ALSO HAVE A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN MY OIL THAT WILL SOON BE TAKEN IN FOR. ALSO, THE SAFETY FEATURES ALL BECOME INACTIVE BECAUSE OF A LITTLE RAIN OR SNOW. THE HONDA DEALER RECALIBRATED THEM BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. THE LACK OF HEAT ON IDLE IS UNACCEPTABLE THOUGH.
JANUARY 6TH, 2018 CAR SMELLED OF EGGS AND GAS. DROVE CAR 70 MILES THE EMMISIONS AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WAS TOWED FROM A BUSY HWY 61 MN TO HONDA SERVICE CENTER. THEY HAD CRV FOR 3 WEEKS. CHANGED OIL & PROGRAMMED INJECTORS THE OIL HAD 1QUART OVER OF GAS MIXED INTO THE OIL. 700 MILES LATER AND CAR NOW HAS GAS MIXED INTO OIL AGAIN AND OVER THE ORANGE DIPSTICK AND SMELLS OF VERY STRONG GAS. A SERVICE APPOINTMENT MADE FOR MARCH 14TH, 2018 FOR OIL CHANGE, RATTLE IN THE DASH BEHIND HEAD UNIT AND THE HEAT PROBLEM AS WELL. THE NO HEAT FOR WINTER DRIVING WITH FROZEN WINDSHIELD BEFORE DRIVING AND WHILE DRIVING IS VERY DANGEROUS! BREAKING DOWN ON A INTERSTATE HWY IS ALSO DANGORUS WAITING 4 HOURS WITH NO HEAT IN CAR AT -1 TEMP WAITING FOR TOW IS DANGORUS. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS AT ALL!
CAR IS GARAGED (UNHEATED). THIS AM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID WOULD NOT SPRAY EVEN THOUGH I HEARD THE SPRAY MOTOR RUNNING. I TRIED THE SPRAY IN MY WIFE'S 2017 ACCORD AND THE SPRAY WORKED. IN MY 60 YEARS OF DRIVING WITH MANY DIFFERENT CARS, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND WE HAVE HAD PLENTY OF FREEZING DAYS OVER THE YEARS. THE SPRAY LINES MUST BE IN AN EXPOSED POSITION AND THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WITH CARS AHEAD OF YOU ON THE ROAD THROWING UP SNOW, SALT, ETC. ONTO THE WINDSHIELD AND YOU CANNOT CLEAN IT, THE VISIBILITY WILL BE OBSCURED. IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED, THOSE WITH CRV'S WILL BE HARD PRESSED TO DRIVE ON SNOWY DAYS.
VEHICLE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY DURING WINTER WEATHER. WINDSHIELD FLUID NOZZLES FROZE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD WITH THE WINDSHIELD FLUID, THE WIPERS COME ON AUTOMATICALLY FOR THREE SWEEPS. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO AVAILABLE FLUID, THE WIPERS SMEARED THE SNOW, DIRT, AND SALT ON THE WINDSHIELD, RESULTING IN ZERO VISION. BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD, I HAD SOME VISIBILITY. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD, I HAD NO VISIBILITY. THIS "CONVENIENCE FEATURE" OF AUTOMATED WIPER SWIPES IS THEREFORE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE BANNED.
I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH THE NEAREST VEHICLES AT LEAST A BLOCK IN FRONT AND BEHIND ME. NO OVERPASSES, ETC. IT WAS VERY COLD OUTSIDE. TRAVELING AT 65 MPH I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. STUNNED, I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN. LOOKED UP AND SAW A LARGE HOLE IN MY SUNROOF. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY ONTO A CITY STREET WHERE I COULD BETTER LOOK AND DISCOVERED THE CAR WAS FULL OF GLASS SHARDS. I DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. DEALER'S INITIAL RESPONSE WAS THAT IT WOULD BE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. I DISAGREED AS THERE WAS NO VEHICLE NEARBY TO ACCOUNT FOR ANY FLYING DEBRIS. AFTER OTHER REPS EXAMINED THE DAMAGE, THEY CONCURRED IT LOOKED LIKE IT HAD EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE/OUT SINCE SOME REMAINING GLASS WAS PROTRUDING UPWARD. DEALER REPAIRED AT NO COST, PROVIDED LOANER VEHICLE, AND SERVICE RECORD INDICATES CAUSE WAS BODY FLEXING AND EXTREME COLD.

OUR 2017 HONDA CRV EXL HAS A CLIMATE CONTROL ISSUE WHEN TEMPERATURES GET BELOW FREEZING AND THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE AS THE TEMPERATURE LOWERS. THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL NOT WARM UP AND OF COURSE THE CLIMATE CONTROL WILL NOT WARM UP THE VEHICLE CABIN. THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET ANY HEAT INSIDE THE VEHICLE IS BY CIRCULATING INSIDE AIR BUT WHEN YOU DO THAT,THE WINDOWS FOG UP AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO USE A RAG TO KEEP FOG OFF WINDOWS. HONDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERES A PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE MOST OF OUR DRIVING IS TOWN DRIVING AND WINDOWS FOGGING OVER IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM WHEN CIRCULATING INSIDE AIR.
WHEN TURNING ON CAR, I INTERMITTENTLY SMELL STRONG ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE THE CAR. I BROUGHT CAR TO HONDA DEALER (CAR IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD) AND DEALER STATED "THEY DIDN'T SMELL OR SEE ANYTHING" AND THEY DID NOT TAKE ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND DID NOT RUN ANY TESTS. I DO NOT USE "CHEAP GAS" AS DEALER HAD SUGGESTED, AND CAR WAS NEVER IN A GARAGE ANY TIME WHEN STRONG ODOR WAS PRESENT.
THIS VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO PROPERLY HEAT UP THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A POOR THERMOSTAT ENGINE. THE SUV TAKES A LONG TIME TO WARM UP WITHIN COLDER NORTHERN CLIMATES AND WILL NOT DISTRIBUTE THE NECESSARY CABIN HEAT. DANGEROUS IN COLD CLIMATES FOR CHILDREN AND ELDERLY IN THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN AFTER 10-15 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS STILL BLOWING COLD AIR OUT OF THE HEAT. HONDA CLAIMS THAT THE ISSUE IS BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS TOO EFFICIENT.

CAUSE WE HAVE ALREADY SEEM MUCH COOLER TEMPS THAN 15 LIKE -15.IF I DRIVE ON THE HI-WAY THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE WILL RAISE TO NORMAL OPERATING TEMP ALTHOUGH THE CABIN AIR NEVER REALLY GETS WARM IT IS BETTER THAN NOTHING, WORST HEAT OUTPUT OF ANY VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED ONCE I LEAVE THE HI-WAY AND GET IN THE CITY THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE WILL GO BACK TO 0 IF I HAVE TO STOP AND WAIT AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS.ON MY WAY TO WORK THE CAR CAN BE AT NORMAL ENGINE OPERATING TEMP I STOP AT A GAS STATION TO GET A DRINK LEAVE THE CAR IDLING GET BACK IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES AND THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE IS BACK TO 0 AGAIN.SO I DECIDED TO RUN SOME TEST.I CHECKED THE CR-V OUTSIDE TEMP PRETTY WARM AT AROUND 30 FAHRENHEIT.TEMP SET TO HI FAN ON HI, TEMP OUT VENTS WAS 140 FAHRENHEIT THIS IS NOT PASSING BY THE MANUFACTURING STANDARDS I FOUND ON THE WEB.TEMP SET TO HI FAN SPEED LOW, TEMP OUT VET 155 FAHRENHEIT THIS IS 15 DEGREES WARMER WHICH SHOW EVEN AT 30 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT OUTSIDE AIR TEMP THE HEATING SYSTEM CAN'T MAINTAIN ITS TEMPERATURE WITH FAN ON HI. TEST WAS DONE AT 70 MPH.COLD START TEST TEMP AND FAN BOTH ON HI OUTSIDE TEMP AROUND 30 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT 10 MINUTES IDLING CR-V VENT TEMP 80 FAHRENHEIT. I DID THE SAME TESTS ON OUR RAV4 AND THE TEMPS WERE 30-40 DEGREES HIGHER ON AVERAGE AND THIS WAS WITH WARNER TEMP OUTSIDE AIR LIKE I SAID IT START TO GET BAD AT 15 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN CAUSE IF COLD AND SNOWING THE CR-V DOESN'T HAVE THE POWER/HEAT TO DEFROST WINDOWS / MELT THE FALLING SNOW IN A SNOWSTORM.THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM THAT MANY OF US ARE HAVING AND WE NEED HONDA TO STEP UP AND FIX.HONDA NEEDS TO LOOK AT LOOK AT A
