STRONG ODOR OF FUEL OR OIL WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED ON FREEWAY. THIS HAPPENED TWICE AND LASTED ABOUT 5 MINUTES EACH TIME, THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS BETWEEN 5,000 AND 8 THOUSAND. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 18,000 AND HAS NOT HAD A RECURRENCE SINCE BUT AT 12,000 MILES [ 4,000 MILES AFTER THE FIRST OIL CHANGE ] I NOTICED THE OIL LEVEL ON THE DIP STICK WAS ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OVER THE FULL LIMIT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT HAVE A FIX AT THE TIME. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AT THAT TIME AND AGAIN AT ABOUT 17,000 MILES AT WHICH TIME THEY SAID THEY HAD A PARTIAL FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. IT NOW HAS 19,000 AND STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD THINK SOONER OR LATER IT'S GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE THAT COULD CAUSE SAFETY CONCERNS.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE WORKS FINE, EXCEPT WHEN IT IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A STATIONARY VEHICLE IN FRONT AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON ADAPTIVE CRUISE SET AND IT FAILS TO IDENTIFY THE STATIONARY VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT.
ALL LIGHTS FLASHING IN THE DASH CRUSE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY THE CAR HAS BRAKED VERY QUICK WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE THE COMPUTOR HAS BEEN RESET SERVEL TIMES AND THE PROBLEM COMES RIGHT BACK THIS STARTED IN JAN 2018 AND IS STILL DOING THIS
SMELL OF GAS IN THE GARAGE AFTER LEAVING WINDOWS DOWN. THEN LATER NOTICED IT AGAIN IN THE CABIN 2-3 DIFFERENT TIMES WHICH MY SON WAS VISITING AT THE TIME AND SMELLED IT IN THE GARAGE AGAIN. HE CHECKED THE OIL AND WE COULD SMELL GAS, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP ON 1-8-19 WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AND MECHANIC COULDN'T SMELL GAS ON DIP STICK WHICH I GOT THE MANAGER INVOLVED AND HE TOLD ME THE PROBLEM IS MORE SO IN THE NORTHERN STATES WERE IT'S COLD. HE TOO SAID HE COULDN'T SMELL GAS BUT CHANGED MY OIL ( WHICH HAD ALREADY BEEN CHANGED RECENTLY)..WAS TOLD NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNLESS OIL LIGHT CAME ON OR STARTED HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS OR TILL A RECALL COMES HERE. I HAVEN'T NOTICED THE SMELL SINCE WARMER WEATHER HAS COME IN. LOVE THE CAR BUT SCARY WHEN IT COMES TO GAS AND THE ENGINE WHICH "AGAIN" WAS ASSURED WASN'T A DANGER TO ME. THE MAIN DASH DISPLAY INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT "BOOT UP" OR WILL STAY BLACK (BLANK) WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WILL INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON WHEN SET ON AUTOMATIC EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO WATER PRESENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM (RDM) SYSTEM IS ACTIVE, IT TURNS OFF WHEN LEAST EXPECTED SOMETIMES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CROSS THE MIDDLE (LEFT) OR OUTSIDE (RIGHT) LANES WITHOUT WARNING EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE WELL DEFINED SOLID AND/OR DASHED ROAD LANE LINES. HONDA NORTH AMERICA IS AWARE OF THE MAIN DISPLAY ISSUE AND HAS ADVISED DEALERSHIPS NOT TO REPLACE THE DISPLAY SINCE IT WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WILL NOT ADDRESS THE RDM ISSUE SINCE THE MAIN DISPLAY IS THE CENTRAL PROCESSOR FOR ALL THE SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE CABIN INCLUDING THE ROAD MITIGATION DEPARTURE SYSTEM (RDM) AND THE LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS) CAMERA. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS INFORMED US THAT HONDA NORTH AMERICA IS "WORKING ON A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME". MEAN WHILE, WE ARE MAKING PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WHEN USING THE ALL THE "SAFETY" FEATURES INCLUDED IN THIS VEHICLE. OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE INCLUDE: ENGINE OIL DILUTION, A LOOSE STABILIZER SWAY BAR THAT HAD TO BE TIGHTENED, DRIVER SEAT THAT WILL NOT RETURN TO THE NUMBER ONE DRIVER POSITION INTERMITTINGLY, THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB BUTTON CAME OFF AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE DISPLAY IN FRONT OF THE STEERING WHEEL INTERMITTINGLY DOES NOT WORK.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN GARAGE FOR A FEW DAYS OVER HOLIDAYS. WHEN LEAVING TO MEET RELATIVES AT A RESTAURANT, THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. BATTERY WAS AT 3.3 VOLTS. CALLED THE HONDA DEALER AND HE SUGGESTED HONDA'S FREE SERVICE; ALSO, MAYBE THE CAR SHOULD BE DRIVEN DAILY. (?!) I ASKED IF I COULD REMOVE THE BATTERY AND CHARGE IT WITH MY BATTERY CHARGER. HE SAID THAT WOULD BE OK. I CHARGED OVERNIGHT ON TRICKLE CHARGE. THE NEXT DAY THE BATTERY WAS AT 13 VOLTS. I PUT IT BACK IN THE CAR, WAITED 10 MINUTES FOR ALL SYSTEMS TO BOOT UP AND TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE. SEEMED ALRIGHT. LOOKING ONLINE, I NOTICED A HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (17-032) REFERRING TO PARASITIC BATTERY DRAIN AND MY VIN FIT THE PARAMETERS. I NOW HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT. SURPRISINGLY, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE DEALER HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS BULLETIN AND WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAD ASSUMED HONDA WOULD DISTRIBUTE ALL BULLETINS TO ALL DEALERS, BUT APPARENTLY THAT'S NOT THE CASE. HOPEFULLY THE SOFTWARE UPDATES WILL FIX THIS PROBLEM.
DRIVER SIDE SEAT MAKES SQUEAKY NOISE EVERY TIME AND EVERYDAY. SPECIFICALLY FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. THIS OCCURRED WHEN CAR HAD ONLY 6000 MILES AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL FOR CR V. IT WASN'T A LOT BUT NOW IT'S A BOTHERSOME TO DEAL WITH IT. EVEN A SLIGHT MOVE FROM RIGHT SIDE WILL MAKE THE SEAT SQUEAK LIKE THE THERE'S SOMETHING NOT PROPERLY ALIGNED.
HONDA CRV 2017 COLLISION SYSTEM FAILED, LED TO BRAKE FAIL AND ACCIDENT, FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING NOW- ON DEC 28TH 2017, WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 CRV, I HAD TO STOP AT STOP SIGN, I TRIED TO APPLY BRAKES BUT THEY FAILED COMPLETELY AS IN NO RESPONSE BY PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE COLLISSION MITIGATION SYSTEM ON HONDA MALFUNCTIONED AND MESSED WITH THE BRAKING, AS A RESULT THE BRAKES FAILED AND I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. NOW MY QUESTION IS WHAT WILL HONDA DO IN THIS CASE. I AM ALSO WORRIED NOW FOR FUTURE, TODAY I WAS DRIVING AT 10-15 MPH IN A SMALL STREET AND WAS ALONE IN THE CAR. WHAT IF MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR AND THIS HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY AT 70-75 MPH. MY DRIVER AIRBAG WAS ALSO DEPLOYED DUE TO THE COLLISION TODAY. I NOW FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY HONDA CRV 2017.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROSTER FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY AS THE WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCED INTERNAL FROST AND FREEZING ON THE INSIDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FIX FAILED TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND CASE NUMBER: [XXX] WAS OPENED. ENGINE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES IN LAST ONE YEAR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM YELD/STOP. IT HAPPED TWICE WHILE YIELDING AND MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS; WE WERE LUCKY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES ON HIGHWAY DURING MERGING, OTHERWISE SITUATION WOULD HAVE THE WORST . ALSO ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD FLASHES WITH FAILURE WARNINGS. AT THAT POINT ENGINE ALMOST STALLED RUNNING ONLY AT SPEED OF 10 M/H ATLEAST WHICH HELPED ME TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. I SWITCHED OFF AND ON, ENGINE CAME LIVE, BUT ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE STILL THERE. WARNINGS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE CLEARED ONLY NEXT DAY AFTER WHOLE NIGHT IDLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER, EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND ALSO PROVIDED THEM THE VIDEO THAT MY FRIEND SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT RECORDED WHILE INCIDENT HAPPENED. DEALERSHIP TRIED TO PULL THE ERROR CODE, BUT NONE WERE FOUND. DEALER ASKED ME TO KEEP THE VEHICLE WITH DEALERSHIP AS THEY NEED TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. FORTUNATELY THEY REPRODUCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, AND FOUND THE ENGINE CYLINDER MISFIRES IN 1 AND 4. THEY INTIMATED HONDA ENGINEERING FOR ASSISTANCE, AND HONDA ASSISTED THEM TO RECALIBRATE THE SYSTEM WITHOUT FINDING THE ROOT CAUSE. DEALERSHIP RECALIBRATED AND DIRECTED BY HONDA AND TOLD ME THAT IF THE ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN THAT WILL BE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. ALL THESE TRANSCRIPTS WERE RECORDED IN SERVICE HISTORY OF MY VEHICLE. THE SAME ISSUE APPEARED YESTERDAY AGAIN. WHEN I RESEARCHED ABOUT THE ISSUE ON INTERNET, MOST OF THEM COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ENGINLE OIL AND GAS MIXUP. I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL WITH OIL CHECK STICK PROVIDED BY HONDA, AND OIL LEVELS ARE WAY ABOVE THAN MAX MARK AND OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE; AND MORE OVER THE OIL LOOK VERY THIN ALMOST LIKE WATER THICKNESS.
GAS IN GETTING IN CRANKCASE OIL ON BRAND NEW ENGINE. STARTED FROM DAY ONE. IT IS WASHING DOWN CYLINDER WALLS,, DILUTING THE OIL AND CAUSING PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE. I AM SCARED TO DEATH IT WILL BLOW UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND CAUSE MY DEATH.
TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT THE SPEED LIMIT THE CAR SUDDENLY BRAKED. ALL SAFETY SYSTEMS WERE ACTIVATED AT THIS TIME. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IN FRONT, BEHIND OR BESIDE. I GOT THE CAR UNDER CONTROL , TURNED ALL SYSTEMS OFF AND PROCEEDED. MESSAGES ON DASH INDICATED FOUR SYSTEMS WERE INOPERATABLE. WHEN I GOT HOME I CALLED HONDA TO REPORT. THEY SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO MY DEALER. I DID SO THE FOLLOWING DAY. (THIS HAPPENED ON A WEEKEND) THEY INDICATED THERE WAS A "BULLETIN" OUT ON THIS PROBLEM. THEY DOWNLOADED NEW SOFTWARE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. NOW MY CONCERN. BULLETINS ARE ONLY ACTED UPON WHEN AN OWNER COMPLAINS. THE ISSUE I OUTLINED ABOVE WARRANTS SURELY QUALIFIES FOR MORE THAN A BULLETIN. AT THE SAME TIME.AT THE DEALER I LEARNED OF ANOTHER PROBLEM...A RECALL FOR A GAS LINE ISSUE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO INFORM THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE WHEN A RECALL IS MADE. I WAS NOT INFORMED. I ACCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT.AT THE DEALER , CONSUMER GIVES PERMISSION TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER WITH THE HONDA CORP *VA *JS
GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL.
OIL DILUTION PROBLEM; WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE BURNING OF GAS/OIL SMELL IN THE INTERIOR FROM THE PURCHASE DATE OF THE CAR, ENGINE OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS, OIL LEVEL HIGH ON DIP STICK, COLD IN OUR STATE, DRIVE CAR PLENTY OF MILES EACH DAY AT 65-70 MILES PER HOUR - SHOULD BE BURNING OFF GAS, RECENT OIL CHANGE AT 15% OIL LIFE - OIL WAS HIGH ON DIP STICK PAST FILL MARK. CONTACTED HONDA. MADE COMPLAINT. THEY SAID OUR STATE WAS NOT COVERED IN RECALL BECAUSE OUR STATE IS NOT COLD ENOUGH. THEY SAID WE NEED TO TAKE OUR CRV TO HONDA DEALERSHIP. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP.
DEC 18, 2018, DEAR SIRS, I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW ON OCT 13, 2017. IN DECEMBER 2017 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT TOOK A VERY LONG TIME FOR THE ENGINE TO WARM UP, IF I TURNED THE HEATER ON THE TEMP GAUGE WOULD GO TO COMPLETELY COLD. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL. I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THESE CARS HAVE AN ENGINE PROBLEM WITH GASOLINE GETTING INTO THE OIL AND DILUTING IT. I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS 1/4" ABOVE THE FULL MARK. THE OIL WAS CHANGED IN JANUARY OF 2018 AT 4200 MILES, IT NOW HAS 7200 MILES ON IT. I WILL NOW TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN. THESE TWO PROBLEMS, AS I UNDERSTAND IT ARE RELATED IN THAT A COLD ENGINE WILL ALLOW MORE FUEL PAST THE PISTON RINGS UNTIL IT WARMS UP. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN DEC 2017 WHEN THE CAR HAD 700 MILES ON IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AUTOMATIC BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING WOULD BECOME VERY BRIGHT AND THEN VERY DARK, AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GERMAIN OF ANN ARBOR (2575 S STATE ST, ANN ARBOR, MI 48104, (855) 223-0067) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10163184 AND MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: A19-066. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 10080473. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE RADIO IS ALWAYS MESSED UP. IT SAYS THERE'S A CALL WHEN THERE IS NOT; IT SAYS PHONE NOT CONNECTED, WHICH IT IS; IT PLAYS THE RADIO WHEN THE SCREEN IS COMPLETELY BLANK, IT DOESN'T TURN UP OR DOWN SOMETIMES. FUEL IN OIL DILUTION EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN OIL CAUSING OVER FILL AND ENGINE OIL VISCOSITY BREAKDOWN.
THE ADVANCED SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT RELY ON RADAR (AUTO BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE, ETC) ARE UNUSABLE IN VERY LIGHT SNOW. THERE WAS BARELY ANYTHING ON THE SENSOR COVER, YET THESE IMPORTANT SYSTEMS STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. WIPING THE SENSOR WOULD RESTORE FUNCTION, BUT ONLY FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, AT BOTH LOW SPEEDS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAS RECEIVED THE RECENT SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS. ENGINE OIL SMELL LIKE A GAS,GAS RUN INTO/MIX WITH ENGINE OIL,ENGINE OIL LEVEL RISING EACH WEEK. DEFINITELY EFFECT THE VEHICLE USE LIFE. IN THE WINTER SEASON,CAR HEATER HAS TO WAIT A LONG TIME TO GET HEAT FROM AIR CONDITIONER.
FAULTY WINDSHIELD GLASS. MY VEHICLE'S WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE WEAK OEM WINDSHIELD. WHEN I TURNED ON MY VEHICLE DEFROST A SLIGHT CRACK APPEARED WHICH CONTINUED ON TO SPREAD ALONG THE BOTTOM, NEAR THE DEFROSTER. A GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2017 WINDSHIELD CRACKING FOR A MYRIAD OF REASONS THAT DON'T HAVE TO DO WITH AN ACCIDENT. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED REFUSES TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD UNLESS I PAY OVER A $1000. NOW, IN ORDER TO AVOID MY INSURANCE GOING UP, I WILL HAVE TO PAY OVER $500 TO SAFELITE TO REPLACE IT. AGAIN THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE.
I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO FILE THIS UNDER. THE HEATING SYSTEM IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS NOT TO BE AN ISSUE IN A BRAND NEW CAR. . NOT SAFE IN CONDITIONS WHERE IT'S AT FRIGID TEMPS. I HAVE BEEN SITTING IN MY CAR FOR A HALF AN HOUR AND IT'S STILL NOT WARM. UNCALLED FOR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
GAS IS MIXING IN THE OIL OF OUR NEW 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE 1.5 LITER ENGINE DOES NOT WARM UP SUFFICIENTLY IN COLD WEATHER, RUNS RICH, AND LEAVES UN-COMBUSTED GAS IN THE OIL. THIS TRIGGERS ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS AND REQUIRES FREQUENT OIL CHANGES. ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND DRIVABILITY SUFFER. THIS PROBLEM IS ALSO BEING REPORTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA BY OTHER HONDA CR-V OWNERS WHO DRIVE IN COLDER CLIMATES. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT IS CAUSING LONG TERM DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE OF OUR NEW VEHICLE. I CAUTION PROSPECTIVE BUYERS TO POSTPONE THE PURCHASE OF A 2017 OR NEWER HONDA CR-V WITH THE 1.5 LITER ENGINE UNTIL HONDA SOLVES TO THIS PROBLEM. THE FIFTH GENERATION CR-V IS AN EXCELLENT CAR IN MANY RESPECTS, BUT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THE CAR, PARTICULARLY TO THOSE WHO DRIVE IN COLDER CLIMATES, UNTIL A FIX IS FOUND. REUTERS REPORTED IN FEBRUARY THAT HONDA HAS ANNOUNCED A RECALL OF 350,000 CR-V'S IN CHINA FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A SIMILAR ISSUE. WE'VE DRIVEN OUR CAR FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS, AND IT HAS LESS THAN 2,000 MILES ON IT. WE TYPICALLY USE THE CAR FOR SHORT DRIVES WITHIN THE CITY. OUR CAR WAS AT THE DEALER FOR OVER TWO WEEKS WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED. A FIELD REP FROM HONDA WAS SENT OUT TO THE DEALER TO TRY TO ASSIST. SENSORS AND FUEL INJECTORS WERE REPLACED. THE OIL AND FILTER WAS CHANGED. AT THIS TIME OUR ENGINE HAD LESS THAN 1100 MILES ON IT. THESE REPAIRS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IN MID-JANUARY THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS WERE TRIGGERED AGAIN. OUR DEALER NOTED THE SMELL OF GAS IN OUR OIL AND ONCE AGAIN CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER. WE HAD LESS THAN 1500 MILES ON THE CAR FOR THIS SERVICE. HONDA DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. THE OIL AND FILTER CHANGES ARE A BANDAID, AND LONG TERM DAMAGE MAY BE OCCURRING TO OUR ENGINE. HONDA MAY HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM ON ITS HANDS WITH THE 1.5 LITER ENGINE.
FUEL IS MIXING IN OIL. THE OIL DIPSTICK SMELLS LIKE GAS AND THERE IS A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. HONDA CALLS IT ABNORMAL OIL DILUTION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER HE PUT DOCUMENTATION OF OIL SMELL ON DIPSTICK ON RECEIPT BUT SAID HONDA HAS NO FIX FOR THIS IN KANSAS. CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE REFERRED TO CLAIM MANAGEMENT TEAM WHO SAID NO FIX FOR THIS IN KANSAS AND HE "DOESN'T THINK IT WILL HURT THE ENGINE" EVEN IMMEDIATLY AFTER OIL CHANGE THE DIPSTICK STILL SMELLED LIKE GAS EVEN AFTER WIPING IT. I BELIEVE THAT OIL DILUTION CAN CAUSE WEAR DAMAGE TO AN ENGINE. I DRIVE MY CRV 3 MILES TO WORK.

DRIVING ON ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL 69 MPH ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM, COLLISION MITIGATION PROBLEM, MAY HAVE BEEN MORE. NO CARS IN FRONT OF US OR BEHIND, A PICKUP TRUCK IN NORTH BOUND LANE APPROX. 175 FT WAS APPROACHING US. CAR STARTED BRAKING, KICKED OFF CRUISE CONTROL. I PULLED OVER PUT CAR IN PARK ALL LIGHTS CLEARED. OVERCAST SKY AND 64 DEGREES. SCARED SECOND TIME TODAY. AR. MILES ON CAR 3753 APPROX PLUS 4 OTHER PREVIOUS TIMES OF CAR GIVING WARNING LIGHTS FOR SYSTEM FAILURES. THESE CARS HAVE A PROBLEM AND DEALER TECKS SAY THERE IS NOTHING IN THE COMPUTERS SAYING THERE IS ANY PROBLEMS EXCEPT CAMERA DIRTY. WE ARE GETTING AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CR-V TOURING
THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT ALERTS THE DRIVER OF A POTENTIAL FRONTAL COLLISION WITH A VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN. WHEN A COLLISION IS DEEMED UNAVOIDABLE, THE SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY REDUCES THE VEHICLE'S SPEED AND BRINGS THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE SYSTEM PROVIDES VISUAL AND AUDIBLE ALERTS. THE SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATED AUTOMATICALLY WHILE IN FORWARD MOTION ON CITY STREETS WITHOUT REASON CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BRAKE HARD AND TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN MOVING TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING REAR-END COLLISIONS.
CENTER CONSOLE / INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL NOT DIM AT NIGHT, NOR CAN IT BE ADJUSTED. IT STAYS AT MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS. THE CONSOLE DISPLAYS LIGHT EVEN WHEN OFF AND ADJUSTING THE VOLUME KNOB TURNS IT BACK ON. IT ALSO MAY SPONTANEOUSLY COME BACK ON WHEN OFF. ONCE THE ISSUE APPEARED, IT COULD NOT BE RESOLVED WITH A REBOOT OR HARD RESET. HAVING A BRIGHT LIGHT SOURCE CLOSE TO THE DRIVER AT NIGHT IN A DISTRACTION.
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF OUR NEW 2017 HONDA CR-V, THERE HAS BEEN GASOLINE GETTING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. THE OIL LEVEL INDICATOR OR DIP-STICK SHOWS THE OIL FAR ABOVE THE FULL MARK AND THERE IS AN OBVIOUS STRONG ODER OF GASOLINE. WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, GASOLINE ODORS ARE VERY STRONG IN THE EXHAUST AND SOMETIMES WITHIN THE CAR INTERIOR. GASOLINE IS CONSIDERED A SOLVENT AND IT WILL REDUCE THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE IF IT IS ALWAYS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY AND AN ENGINE FIRE. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THREE TIMES ABOUT THE PROBLEM. AT MY LAST VISIT, HONDA FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM A PROVIDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE PROBLEM REMAINS UNCHANGED. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED WITH MY NEW CAR AND WANT SOME HELP GETTING IT FIXED OR HELP WITH RETURNING THE CAR BACK TO HONDA AND REIMBURSED FOR THE COST. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ALL THE TIME, IN COLD AND WARM WEATHER.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 78 mph in inclement weather, the instrument cluster became inoperable. The “No Radar Detected” message was displayed. The contact was unaware of the speed or the mileage on the vehicle. The contact stated that after the rain stopped falling, the instrument cluster functions returned. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,544.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE "BRAKE" SIGNAL DISPLAYED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SUDDEN SCREECHING AND COMPLETE STOP. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES OR ANY OTHER OBSTRUCTION IN FRONT OF ME AND THANK GOODNESS NO ONE BEHIND ME. I WAS IN MOTION AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 20 MPH. THE SUDDEN AND WITHOUT REASON STOP JOLTED ME FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING AND IT WAS VERY PAINFUL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM AND WAS TOLD TO DISABLE THE FEATURE BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAULT. THE DEFAULT FOR THIS FEATURE IS ENABLED UPON STARTING VEHICLE. SO I MUST DISABLE THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM EVERY TIME I START THE CAR.
AFTER DRIVING TO LOCAL COSTCO ABOUT 15 MIN DRIVE, I PARKED AT TIRE SERVICE CENTER TO REINFLATE TIRE. ONCE THEY HELPED ME, I TRIED TO START CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENS. COSTCO TIRE TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT IT AND DID NOT THINK IT IS BATTERY ISSUE SO I CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FROM HONDA. IT IS BARELY WINTER AND MY 2017 CR-V BOUGHT LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO WITH 1850 MILES DOES NOT START. TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID HE HAS RESPONDED TO MANY ISSUES WITH BATTERY ON NEW HONDAS. CAR DOES NOT START. CAN'T TELL IF ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED OR NOT. WILL TAKE IT (GET IT TOWED) TO NEAREST HONDA DEALER THIS MORNING TO CONFIRM AND FIX ALL THE ISSUES. SO I WILL BE LATE TO WORK TODAY AND WASTED MY SUNDAY DEALING WITH THIS TOO.
I BOUGHT A 2017 HONDA CRV TOURING THREE MONTHS AGO. ON 11/11/2017, IT WAS HESITATING TO START. ONCE IT DID, ALL MY SENSORS WENT OFF SO I TOOK IT UP TO THE SHOP AND DROPPED IT OFF AND GOT A LOANER. THEY ASSUMED A WEAK BATTERY. ON MONDAY, 11/13/2017, I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT A RAT HAD CHEWED THROUGH MY ENGINE WIRE HARNESS AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER 1600.00 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. I STARTED TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE AND CAN SEE WHERE IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF PEOPLE WHO PAY GOOD MONEY FOR BRAND NEW VEHICLES. PURCHASED 2017 HONDA CRV EXL WITH AWD IN OCTOBER 2017. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LIA HONDA IN WILLIAMSVILLE, NY WHERE I WAS TOLD "THAT'S JUST THE SOUND OF THE FUEL PUMP, TURN YOUR RADIO UP." THE SOUND PROGRESSIVELY GOT LOUDER SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO LIA HONDA IN DECEMBER 2017. TECH THAT HEARD THE NOISE SAID "IT SOUNDED LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A CRASH, THE SOUND WAS THAT BAD." VEHICLE SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR IN JAN 2018. REPAIR WAS MADE TO VEHICLE IN JAN 2018 WHICH INCLUDED ADDED INSULATION AROUND GAS TANK AND TIGHTENING OF THE GAS TANK STRAPS. NOISE WENT AWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 1-2 WEEKS. NOISE IS NOW BACK LOUDER THAN EVER AS OF FEB 2018. CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO LIA HONDA AGAIN AND WE WERE TOLD "HONDA TOLD THEM NOT TO TOUCH THE CAR" AND THAT THEY "WOULD NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE." I AM CONCERNED THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SAFETY SYSTEM AND IT IS NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY HONDA OR MY DEALERSHIP. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR KNOWING THE GAS TANK OR FUEL PUMP IS KNOCKING ABNORMALLY. THE KNOCKING NOISE HAPPENS ALL THE TIME BUT IS LOUDER WHEN THERE IS A FULL TANK OF GAS. THE KNOCKING CAN BE HEARD BEST FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE GAS TANK.

ON 11/13 - 11/21/17, O/S SRS LIGHT CAME ON AFTER CODES CLEARED. RETURNED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP IN BRADENTON, FL. THEY CHECKED PIN FIT AT AIR BAG CONNECTOR AND SRS UNIT. CONTINUITY WAS CONFIRMED. NO MOUSE OR WATER DAMAGE. DRIVER'S SEAT AIR BAG WAS REPLACED PER HONDA TECH LINE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS IN POSSESSION OF OUR CR-V DURING THESE DATES. ON 12/13/17, O/S SRS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. SO, WE DROVE THIS CRV TO OHIO WITH THE O/S SRS LIGHT ON FOR 95% OF OUR 2600 MILE TRIP. NEGOTIATED WITH AM HONDA AND BRADENTON, FL DEALERSHIP TO BRING CR-V BACK ON 1/8/18. A HONDA 'TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST' IS BEING FLOWN IN FROM TORRENCE, CA TO FIX IT. MY WIFE AND I RETIRED FROM HONDA OF AMERICA MFG INC WITH 50 COMBINED YEARS OF MANUFACTURING SERVICE BUILDING HONDAS.
THE CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. THE DEALER HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. CAR CONTINUES TO PULL LEFT. AN INDEPENDENT BUSINESS AGREED THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ALIGNMENT AND/OR THE TIRES. THE DEALER IS UNWILLING OR UNABLE TO FIX. SO, I HAVE A NEW CAR THAT PULLS LEFT. UNSAFE
THIS VEHICLE HAS A MAJOR HEATING ISSUE. THE HEATING IN THE VEHICLE IS THE WORST I HAVE SEEN YET. YOU CAN LITERALLY BE WAITING FOR A TRAIN OR AT A STOP LIGHT AND WATCH THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE FALL DOWN AND YOUR VENTILATION BEGIN TO BLOW COLD AIR, EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR HALF AN HOUR BEFORE THAT. I USE REMOTE START ALMOST EVERYDAY DURING THE WINTER, I LET THE CAR RUN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND WHEN I GET INSIDE, IT'S STILL COLD AS IF IT HASN'T BEEN RUNNING. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE A 4 MONTH OLD SON AND HE CAN'T BE CONSTANTLY MOVED FROM A WARM INTO A COLD ENVIRONMENT. I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND THE WINTERS CAN BE ROUGH BUT I NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT WAS THIS COLD. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA AGAIN (I'VE OWNED A TOTAL OF 3) UNLESS THEY ISSUE A RECALL AND RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
OIL VOLUME INCREASES OVER TIME. OK SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE AND TURNS BLACK. HEATER BARELY WORKS IN THE WINTER. HONDA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES DUE TO FUEL DILUTION. HOWEVER THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE OIL CHANGES. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED MANY FAILURES OF MY HONDA SENSE SYSTEM WHEREBY MY ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED, MY ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM FAILED, WHERE MY AUDIO POWER WENT OFF, MY AUTO HIGH BEAM SYSTEM HAD FAILURES, WHICH LEAD ME TO FEEL VERY UNEASY DRIVING MY VEHICLE. AT ALL TIMES, MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE SYSTEM FAILURES WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS WHILE DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROADS AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS! THIS WAS NOT A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE. THESE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED MANY TIMES!
All lights shows up on my cars dashboard and at first start it shake with vibration for 2 minutes then it stables even though on the highway when I try to accelerate it doesn’t go smoothly last time I have the same issue and paragon fixed it by changing alternator and reset by computer but still I am facing the same problem. They are always going through the temporary solution by resetting code sometimes changing battery or recommended some other parts although they never take seriously about my head gasket problem and because of that causes misfire. I need the permanent solution. It’s very frustrating for me to face that problem everyday.

DURING A RECENT WET SNOW FALL - THE "RADAR" SENSORS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON - THIS IS A BIG DISTRACTION - THE WET SNOW HAD ACCUMULATED ON THE FRONT SENSOR OF THE CAR - WHY DONT THESE SENSORS HAVE A HEATER TO KEEP THEM DE-ICED LIKE AIRPLANE WINGS.

THE FUEL ODOR WAS ALSO PRESENT INSIDE THE GARAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. THE VEHCILE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LIA HONDA OF WILLIAMSVILLE, NY), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE ODOR COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V442000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900.
OIL CRANK CASE IS TOO HIGH DUE TO EXCESS FUEL IN OIL. THIS CAUSES FUEL SMELL IN CABIN AND STALLING OF THE ENGINE. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE ENGINE WILL SUFFER FROM PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR AND FAILURE DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION. THIS IS NOT A COLD WEATHER ISSUE AS MY DILUTION NEED HAPPENED IN THE SUMMER AND I ONLY DO HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH LONG DURATION. HONDA REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
VEHICLE BATTERY DEAD AFTER SITTING FOR 3 HOURS. 3 WEEK OLD VEHICLE WITH 690 MILES. CHARGED THE BATTERY AND DROVE TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE BATTERY, CHARGING SYSTEM AND STARTING SYSTEM. NO TROUBLE WAS FOUND. I GAVE A COPY OF HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 17-032 COVERING 'PARASITIC BATTERY DRAW FROM THE VSA MODULATOR' TO THE 'SERVICE ADVISOR' AND ASKED HIM TO SHOW IT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT MY VIN WASN'T COVERED BY THAT BULLETIN AND BECAUSE WHAT THEY LOOKED AT WAS IN WORKING ORDER THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE TO ADDRESS THE CAUSE OF THE BEAD BATTERY. I TOLD THEM THAT THE ISSUE WASN'T ADDRESSED AND THAT I WILL HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN!
FOR A SECOND TIME WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AFTER HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT NOT HAVING POWER TO GO PAST 2 RPMS AND PULLING AS IF IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LINE. AFTER HAVING VEHICLE TOWED THE FIRST INSTANCEON10/17/2017 THEY CHECKED IT AND COULD FIND NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING GONE WRONG, THE CAR WAS ONLY 2 WEEKS OLD. THIS SECOND INCIDENT COMES 1 MONTH LATER AND NOW THE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON AND EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN THE CORRECT POSITION THERE WERE TWO LETTERS ON TOP OF ONE ANOTHER AND BLINKING. WE COULD ONLY DRIVE IT UP TO 30 MILES AN HOUR WITHOUT IT PULLING. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS BREAKING.11/21/2017
I WAS DRIVING MY 2017 EX-L ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED FEELING STRANGE. IT WAS STEPPING DOWN, THEN BACK TO NORMAL CONSISTENTLY EVEN IF I DIDN'T CHANGE THE PRESSURE I HAD ON THE ACCELERATOR. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MANY SYSTEMS STARTED REPORTING PROBLEMS ON MY DASHBOARD, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. REPORTED PROBLEMS WERE: BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR PROBLEM ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM LANE KEEPING ASSIST PROBLEM ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA) PROBLEM ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM POWER STEERING SYSTEM (EPS) PROBLEM THE CAR LOST POWER AS I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT IT OFF. AFTER A WHILE, THE PROBLEM CODES WENT AWAY. HONDA HAS TRIED TO FIX IT THREE TIMES AND SAYS NOTHING SHOWS AS WRONG. THE LATEST CASE NUMBER IS 09360895 IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SO FAR
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH downhill and approaching a railroad track with arms, the automatic braking system inadvertently engaged and abruptly stopped the vehicle almost causing a rear-end collision. The Forward Collision-Avoidance: Emergency Automatic Braking warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving and approaching a metallic fence located on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The failure also occurred on another occasion while approaching a railroad crossing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed however, no issues were found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
WITH 4 HOURS OF ME OWNING THE CAR, THE EMISSIONS LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION WITH THE DEALER, THERE WAS RODENT DAMAGE TO THE GAS TANK AND WIRING.
EVERYTIME MY 15 POUND DOG RIDES IN THIS AUTO SHE BEGINS TO THROWUP AFTER 15 OR 20 MINUTES. THIS HAPPENS IN NO OTHER CAR. I TOOK TO HONDA I QUIRING ABOUT A CO2 ISSUE. THERE WAS RECALL FOR JUST SUCH A LEAK CALLING FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE FULE LINE. I NEVER RECIEVED ANY NOTIE REGARDING THIS RECALL. DUE TO THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THIS ISSUE I WOULD LIKE TO I SURE OTHERS ARE NOTIFIED . IF MY 15 LB OG WAS THROWING UP I WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME INFANTS AND CHILD ARE LSO BECOMING ILL.
