I NOTICED THE OIL LEVEL BEING OVER FULL IN THE FALL OF 2018, AT THAT TIME WE HAD ABOUT 6,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. AT 7237 MILES I HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE OUR DEALER ON OCTOBER 15, 2018. I BECAME AWARE OF THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE AFTER RECEIVING A LETTER FROM HONDA REGARDING SERVICE BULLETIN 18-114. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND FOUND IT TO BE WAY OVER-FILLED ON DECEMBER 1, 2018. I VISITED THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT A PERMANENT FIX WAS ON ITS WAY AND I SHOULD WAIT FOR A FORMAL RECALL, HOWEVER I WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE LONG TERM AFFECT ON OUR CAR'S ENGINE SO I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE WITH THE DELAY. THEY CALLED ME A DAY OR TWO LATER INDICATING THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM THE RECALL WORK WHICH WAS COMPLETED ON JANUARY 8, 2019. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AND FOUND IT WAS AT THE TOP OF THE ORANGE PLASTIC TIP OF THE DIPSTICK (I REALIZE THE FULL LEVEL IS AT THE TOP HOLE IN THE ORANGE TIP). HOPING THAT THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE WAS FIXED, I CHECKED THE OIL AGAIN TODAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2019 AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT IN THE GARAGE ALL NIGHT. THE OIL LEVEL WAS FOUND TO BE WAY ABOVE THE FULL MARK AND BEYOND THE TOP OF THE ORANGE TIP BY MORE THAN '. THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED IN MY VEHICLE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA MC AND RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM A TECH WHO INFORMED ME THAT "THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TO RETURN TO THE DEALER". I EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE WITH THIS RESPONSE AND SHE REPEATED HER "CANNED" RESPONSE. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE/ENGINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA FORMALLY INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AS THE CANADIAN AND CHINESE GOVERNMENTS HAVE AND HAVE FOUND THIS MATTER TO BE REAL.
BAD DESIGN -- THE 2ND ROW MIDDLE AND LEFT SEAT BELT BUCKLE APPEAR TO BE REVERSED. WHEN THE MIDDLE AND LEFT SEAT BELTS ARE ATTACHED TO THE BUCKLES THEY HAVE TO CROSS OVER EACH OTHER. IF ONE PASSENGER IS ALREADY BELTED IN IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO SECURE THE OTHER PASSENGER IN EITHER THE MIDDLE OR LEFT SEAT POSITION. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON OTHER WEB SITES, SUCH AS "PROCARSEATSAFETY.COM WE NOTICE THIS ISSUE WITHIN A MONTH OF LEASING THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS ADVISED AND SAID THAT'S THE WAY HONDA DESIGNED IT.
ENGINE OIL DILUTION. SMELLS GAS. OIL LEVEL HIGHER THAN MAX. SOME LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. ALL HAPPENED BEFORE 5K MILES. LESS THAN 700 MILES ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR THE SAME REASON. DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG. AFTER DRIVING 100 MILES STILL SAME PROBLEMS.
AFTER HAVING A MANDATORY UPDATE DONE BY HONDA JANUARY 3 2019 I NO LONGER HAVE HEAT IN MY VEHICLE WHEN ITS BELOW FREEZING. MY WINDOWS CANNOT STAY DEFROSTED OR SAFE TO SEE OUT OF. I HAVE TO KEEP PULLING OVER TO SCRAPE WINDOWS DURING STORMS. ALSO FEBRUARY 14 I NOTICED MY ENGINE RAPPING BADLY. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALER. MY ENGINE OIL WAS 1 INCH OVER THE HIGH FILL LINE. HONDA CORPORATE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL ME THAT IT'S 100% NORMAL AND FINE, AND OIL DILUTION IS NORMAL AND FINE. MY ENGINE IS RAPPING BADLY, I HAVE HAD COWORKERS WHO ARE ASE CERTIFIED LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THAT'S ENGINE DAMAGE AND THE ENGINE WILL FAIL AND PROBABLY SOON. MY OIL WAS LAST CHANGED 1600 MILES AGO, AND IN THAT TIME IT GOT 1 INCH OVER FILLED, GASOLINE IS IN MY OIL NOW. HONDA DENIES THE HEAT AND THE OIL DILUTION. YOU MUST INTERVENE AND HELP HONDA CRV CUSTOMERS! THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF U S EXPERIENCING THIS AND HONDA REFUSES TO HELP!! PLEASE HELP! I HAVE A VIDEO OF MY ENGINE RAPPING, COMPARED IT TO OTHER HONDA CRV'S AND MINE IS DEFINITELY GOT SOMETHING WRONG!
WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME FROM WORK SUDDENLY MY CRV STOPPED ABRUPTLY AND NO CAT, DOG OR OTHER OBJECT WAS IN THE WAY FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, IF A CAR WOULD OF BEEN NEAR IN THE BACK IT WOULD OF CRASHED MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS SUDDENLY STOP. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT ANYMORE.
FUEL IN THE OIL, SLOW WARMUP AND STALLING
RELEVANT TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V663000, OUR 2018 HONDA CR-V EXHIBITED THE BEHAVIOR DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE RESULTING IN ACCIDENT (VEHICLE HITTING TELEPHONE POLE). SAME MAKE AND MODEL LISTED IN THE RECALL HOWEVER THE VIN SEARCH DOES NOT RETURN AS PART OF THE RECALL. TURNING THE STEERING FULLY TO THE RIGHT WHILE EXITING A CAR WASH RESULTED IN THE 'STEERING ASSIST' APPLYING FORCE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL, COLLISION AND INJURY.
GAS GETTING MIXED IN WITH OIL HAD CR-V AT DEALERSHIP AND SAID THERE WAS GAS MIXED IN WITH THE OIL SO THEY CALL HONDA AND THEY TOLD THEM TO CHANGE THE OIL
WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, IT SHUT DOWN AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT HAD LOST ALL POWER AND IT HAD 4525 MILES ON IT. I WAS ON MY WAY TO TAKE IT UP FOR A RECALL FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH A/C CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT ; DTC P0300, P0301,P0302,P0303,P0304,OR P0172. I HAD TO CALL HONDA ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND MY VEHICLE WAS HAULED ON A FLAT BED TRAILER TO GET THE RECALL FIXED. THIS RECALL ALSO INVOLVED AN OIL CHANGE, OF WHICH THEY WERE MAKING THE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR THE FILTER, THEY WOULD CHANGE THE FILTER WITH THE OIL CHANGE, BUT NOT PAY FOR THE FILTER WHEN CHANGING THE OIL. THERE IS ALSO AN OIL DISILLUSION PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AS THERE IS GAS GOING INTO THE OIL CAUSING A GAS SMELL IN THE OIL AND THINNING OUT THE OIL. ALSO THERE IS A HEATING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AS THERE IS NO HEAT WHICH COMES OUT OF THE BLOWERS, WHICH WHERE I LIVE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE FOR 6-9 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. I WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING AS I CAN ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW TO GET COOLED OFF, BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY I CAN GET HEAT IN MY CAR AND THAT IS FROM RUNNING THE ENGINE AND USING THE CLIMATE CONTROL IN THE CAR. IN COLD WEATHER STATES WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE BECAUSE WHEN IT SHUTS DOWN AND ISN'T DRIVABLE AND THE CAR ISN'T ABLE TO PRODUCE HEAT WHEN YOU ARE STRANDED A PERSON COULD FREEZE TO DEATH BECAUSE OF THE CARS INABILITY TO PRODUCE HEAT WHILE STRANDED IN THE COLD WEATHER. MY OIL ALREADY SMELLS OF GAS AND I HAVE DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 700 MILES SINCE THE OIL CHANGE, THAT WAS PERFORMED WITH THE RECALL. I AM TAKING TO HONDA DEALER AGAIN FOR AN EXAM I WAS TOLD, TO CHECK OUT SPARK PLUGS AND X-RAY THEM AND ALSO FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE, WITH 5219 MILES ON CAR NOW, SO WITH LESS THAN 700 MILES FROM LAST OIL CHANGE I WILL NOW BE GETTING ANOTHER. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JULY 2018. AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE THE "FULL" MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. CHECKED ON-LINE AND LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAD MADE THE SAME OBSERVATION, NOTING A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINES ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. DEALER CHANGED OIL AND FILTER AT NO CHARGE. PROBLEM PERSISTED, WITH 3 MORE OIL CHANGES AT NO COST OVER NEXT 4 MONTHS DUE TO GASOLINE DILUTION OF OIL AND CONSEQUENT OVERFILL OF CRANKCASE AS READ ON THE DIPSTICK. HONDA DEALERSHIP CARRIED OUT A HONDA PRODUCT UPDATE ON THIS VEHICLE REFERENCED AS "1245A2 PRODUCT UPDATE CAMPAIGN" THAT INVOLVED A SOFTWARE UPDATE IN WHICH THE PCM AND TCM WERE PROGRAMMED AND THE A/C CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED. OIL LEVELS SEEMED NORMAL FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS, BUT ONCE AGAIN WERE WELL OVER THE FULL MARK AND HAD A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR ON FEBRUARY 11, 2019. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE PROBLEM CHECKED AND WAS INFORMED THAT HONDA NOW STATES THAT THIS CONDITION IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THAT OIL CHANGES FOR OVERFILLED OIL CONDITION WILL NO LONGER BE DONE AT NO CHARGE. I SCHEDULED AN OIL CHANGE AND WILL HAVE THIS DONE IN ONE WEEK. CAR HAS 12,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CRV'S WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINE. HONDA NEEDS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM OR OFFER A REFUND ON THE VEHICLE. THE POTENTIAL FOR EARLY ENGINE WEAR AND FAILURE SEEMS OBVIOUS DUE TO GASOLINE DILUTED OIL. ALSO, THERE IS SOMETIMES A GASOLINE ODOR IN OR NEAR THE VEHICLE.
GAS AND OIL SMELL IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. GAS IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL CAUSING OVERFILL LEVEL. OIL LEAK ON FLOOR OF GARAGE. FEAR GAS IN OIL WILL CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR OF ENGINE. JUST FOUND THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY HONDA IN 2017 AND 2018 MODELS BUT STILL SOLD ME THE CAR. TAKING CAR IN. BOUGHT NEW HAS 2100 MILES NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEN VANCE HONDA (LOCATED AT 2802 LORCH AVE, EAU CLAIRE, WI 54701, (715) 318-1641) FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE, ABUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
UNEXPECTED BRAKING; OCCURRED 2/9/2019M WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT, LEVEL ROAD, WITH NO OTHER CARS IN FRONT OR BEHIND ME. SUNNY DAY, NO WIND, NO BUILDINGS OR SHADOWS OF ANY KIND, NO DEBRIS ON ROAD -- PERFECT DRIVING CONDITIONS. CAR BRAKED WITHOUT WARNING, FROM 40MPH TO ~20MPH IN A FRACTION OF A SECOND, SEAT BELT HELD ME BACK, THEN BRAKES RELEASED. IMMEDIATELY VISITED DEALERSHIP (AUTONATION HONDA 104, 2999 W 104TH, WESTMINSTER, CO), REPORTED PROBLEM, THEY DID SOME COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS, FOUND NOTHING, TRIED TO BLAME PROBLEM ON A BLOWING LEAF.
HAD AN OIL CHANGE AT A GREASE MONKEY. THEY NOTED THAT THE OIL STICK INDICATED THAT IT WAS ABOVE FULL AND SMELLED OF GAS. WHEN DRAINING THE OIL, THEY SMELLED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS AS WELL. OIL AND GAS ARE MIXING IN THE ENGINE WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY HONDA FOR THE 1.5L TURBO ENGINE WHICH IS IN MY CAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT THAT GAS AND OIL MIX WILL CAUSE ISSUES RELATED TO THE ENGINE AND MAY CAUSE PREMATURE FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TEAM HONDA (LOCATED AT 4613 E LINCOLN HWY, MERRILLVILLE, IN 46410, (219) 947-3900) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: APAS12142018901 (EQUIPMENT, ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. IT SHATTERED IN 1000S OF PIECES WITH A LOUD, POWERFUL EXPLOSION. BITS OF SHATTERED GLASS PUT SCRATCHES ON THE ROOF. CAR HAS ONLY 4000 MILES.
THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO EXPERIENCING THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE NOW SINCE THE GAS IN THE OIL IS CHANGING THE VISCOSITY OF THE OIL.
DURING IDLE THE ENGINE LOOSES HEAT ALSO CAUSING THE HEATER INSIDE THE CABIN TO LOOSE HEAT AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 10 DEGREES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT BODY SHOP FOR THE BODY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT CALLED LUNDGREN HONDA OF AUBURN AT (844) 224-8641 (LOCATED AT 163 WASHINGTON ST, AUBURN, MA 01501) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT AFTER THE BODY REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS NOT HEATING UP PROPERLY. IN COLD WEATHER WHEN IDELING WOULD NOT MOVE FROM COLD POSITION, THEREFORE PRODUCE NO HEAT. WHEN DRIVING IT AT 35MILES AN HOUR GAUGE WOULD GO UP SOME ,AND WHEN SLOWING TO 25 MILES GAUGE WOULD DROP BACK DOWN TO COLD, WITH NO HEAT. CAR WOULD ALSO STALL AFTER IT WAS STARTED AND LEFT IN PARK WHEN I WOULD GET IN TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. THIS WOULD ALL HAPPEN DURING COLD WEATHER. HONDA DID THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY FOUND THE GAS AND OIL MIXTURE PROBLEM. DID AN OIL CHANGE AND DID THE RECALL UPDATE ON CONTROL PANEL AND SOFTWARE.GOT THE CAR BACK AND IT IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DROPPING DOWN TO COLD AND LOSS OF HEAT,WHEN DRIVING SHORT TRIPS. HONDA SAID THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT.
GASOLINE ODOR IN CABIN, RAW FUEL GOING THROUGH CATALYTIC CONVERTER, GASOLINE IN OIL PAN
MY 2018 HONDA CR -V 1,5 HAS A ISSUE WITH GAS GETTING IN THE OIL, I DID TAKE TO THE HONDA DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL AT 12913 MILES TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AT 14830 MILES I CHECKED THE OIL IN THE 1917 MILES SINCE RECALL PERFORMED OIL BECAME ABOUT A QUART MORE SO OIL IS DELUDED WITH GAS STILL A ISSUE AFTER HONDA RECALL , I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID JUST TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR A OIL CHANGE , I CAN NOT PAY $75 PLUS EVERY 2K MILES FOR A OIL CHANGE , HONDA DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION OR ACTS LIKE THEY EVEN THINK THIS IS A BIG ISSUE
FUEL GETTING INTO ENGINE OIL
SENSOR INDICATING LOW TIRE PRESSUE WILL COME ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ANY SPEED. THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH TIRE PRESSURES WHEN THIS OCCURS (I STOP AND PULL OFF THE ROAD AND CHECK EACH TIRE WITH A PRESSURE GAUGE). DEALER STATES THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AS THE "TIRE SENSORS" ACTUALLY WORK BY CALCULATING THE ROTATION OF EACH TIRE, IF THEY DON'T MATCH, SENSOR GOES OFF INDICATING LOW PRESSURE. PER DEALER, SYSTEM GETS "CONFUSED". ONLY WAY TO FIX IS TO PULL OVER AND STOP, THEN USE A SPECIAL "HARD RESET OF THE TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM" THAT IS NOT EXPLAINED IN THE VEHICLE MANUAL. DEALER STATES HONDA HAS NO FIX. SAFETY CONCERN IS YOU DO NOT KNOW IF YOU REALLY HAVE A FLAT TIRE OR NOT, CAUSING YOU TO PULL OVER AND CHECK TIRES WITH A PRESSURE GAUGE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF AT TIMES EVEN WHEN SOMEONE OVER 65LBS IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION
THE CAR BEGAN STALLING AND WOULD NOT DRIVE OVER 10 MPH. SMELLED TERRIBLY AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF. ONLY 2,768 MILES.
DRIVING IN WINTER CONDITIONS. CAR LOST POWER. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO COAST ABOUT A QUARTER MILE TO A SAFE PLACE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BY THE TIME I PARKED THE CAR SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE FRONT AND BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL LIKE SOMETHING BURNING. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR TO GET HEAT WHILE WAITING FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE THE DASH LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND MULTIPLE SYSTEM FAILURE MESSAGES. CAR UNABLE TO DRIVE OVER BOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR. HAD TO TOW TO DEALERSHIP.
PROBLEM WITH GASOLINE GETTING INTO ENGINE OIL AND TURNING OIL DARK BROWN. ENGINE 1.5-LITER TURBO. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE OIL RAISES THE OIL LEVEL, AND TRIGGERS A TERRIBLE SMELL AND BRINGS INTO QUESTION THE PROSPECT OF LONG-TERM DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE OIL'S INABILITY TO PROPERLY PROTEST THE ENGINE. BOUGHT CAR NEW FEB 1, 2018. AUG. 8, 2018 FIRST DEALER SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE MILEAGE 6,532 MAINTENANCE INDICATOR 15%. AT CHANGE OIL CHECKED OUT AT FULL AND CLEAR. CHECKED OIL IN EARLY NOV AND FOUND THE CLEAR OIL WAS NOW OVER THE FULL MARK BY HALF INCH AND HAD TURNED DARK BROWN. ON INTERNET FOUND OTHER CAR OWNERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. HAD OIL CHANGED BEFORE NORMAL MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE BECAUSE OF OIL PROBLEM. JAN 31, 2019 MAINTENANCE INDICATOR WAS AT 30% AND DARK BROWN OIL WAS HALF INCH OVER FULL ON DIPSTICK. MILEAGE AT 12,005 MILES. AVERAGE DRIVING 1000 MILES A MONTH. MOSTLY OPEN HIGHWAY DRIVING. DEALER SAID THAT HONDA HAD A FIX BUT FIX DID NOT APPLY TO THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A COLD WEATHER STATE. ENGINE GET UP AND GO HAS GOTTEN WORSE THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS.
SMELLED GASOLINE INSIDE CAR ON COLD DAY; SMELLED GASOLINE ON OIL DIPSTICK; OIL LEVEL ABOVE NORMAL; DEALER CHANGED OIL; HAPPENED LESS THAN 400 MILES LATER; NOTICED WHILE DRIVING (OUTSIDE TEMP 20 DEGREES F)
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2018 HONDA CR-V EX IN DECEMBER 2018 FROM A NEAR-BY HONDA DEALER. WE LIVE IN BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD, AND DO MOST OF OUR DRIVING LOCALLY. WITHIN A MATTER OF WEEKS AFTER DRIVING, WE STARTED NOTICING A STRONG GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. THE ISSUE HAS PERSISTED, AND STARTED TO GET WORSE. WE RESEARCHED OUR ISSUE, AND NOTED MANY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS REGARDING OIL DILUTION PROBLEMS ON 2018 CR- V 1.5L TURBO-CHARGED ENGINES. IN EARLY APRIL 2019, WE HAD OUR FIRST SERVICE VISIT TO CHECK OUR CABIN GAS SMELL PROBLEM WITH THE DEALER. MILEAGE 1,500 MILES. ON THE SERVICE REPORT, DEALER NOTED "CONFIRMED OIL AND GAS MIXTURE COMPLAINT. OIL LEVEL WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN NORMAL ON DIPSTICK. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK OIL LEVEL OFTEN". WE HAD THE DEALER PERFORM AN OIL AND FILTER CHANGE DUE TO STRONG GAS ODOR IN OUR CABIN. THE DEALER INDICATED HONDA WILL NOT PAY FOR THE OIL CHANGE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS PART OF A KNOWN UNRESOLVED ISSUE. THERE IS NO RECALL IN MARYLAND YET, BUT THERE SHOULD BE IN OUR OPINION. SINCE CHANGING THE OIL THREE WEEKS AGO, THE GAS ODOR IS LESS OBSERVABLE AT THIS TIME. WE CONSIDER THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM TO BE A HEALTH CONCERN, AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM ON THE CR-V. WE ARE CONCERNED TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE WITH NO FIXES AVAILABLE IN MARYLAND. WE UNDERSTAND HONDA HAS ALREADY ISSUED FIXES FOR OIL DILUTION ISSUES IN NEIGHBORING PENNSYLVANNIA AND DELAWARE.

THE ENGINE OIL KEEPS INCREASING IN VOLUME CAUSING ME TO DRAIN ABOUT 1/2 QT ABOUT EVERY 1000-1500 MILES. IF YOU DO NOT KEEP A CHECK ON THIS IT WILL DEGRADE OR CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE. I LIVE IN GEORGIA WHICH HAS A MILD CLIMATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THAT GASOLINE LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE OIL AND CAUSED ENGINE OIL DILUTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF GASOLINE ON THE DIPSTICK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA MOTOR WORK (1475 SOUTH BARRINGTON ROAD, BARRINGTON, IL 60010, (847)-381-8900), WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO MONITOR THE OIL LEVEL AND TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
DURING COLD WEATHER OPERATION ON 01/30/2019 AFTER ~10-15 MINUTES OF DRIVING (AND AFTER THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED A WARMED UP ENGINE) I EXPERIENCED ENGINE SPUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE ENGINE "SKIPPED" ONCE BELOW 10MPH WHICH FELT LIKE A BAD SHIFT (BUT IT HAS A CVT) AND THEN ONCE REACHING ~17MPH, THE ENGINE REPEATEDLY SPUTTERED PREVENTING FURTHER ACCELERATION; THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING WHILE THE SPUTTERING WAS OCCURRING. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE VEHICLE AN ADDITIONAL ~.1 MILES TO MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE WITH NO ENGINE LIGHT ON, BUT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER EVALUATION.
PURCHASED JANUARY 2018. NOTICED OCCASIONAL GASOLINE SMELL, ENGINE SLOW TO WARM UP AND OIL LEVEL RISING WAY ABOVE MAXIMUM. OIL TESTING SHOWED OVER 7.5% GASOLINE IN CRANKCASE. REPORTED TO DEALER, WHO DENIED KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEM. REPORTED TO HONDA OF AMERICA AND WAS IGNORED. I UNDERSTAND A FIX IS AVAILABLE FOR PEOPLE IN NORTHERN TIER OF STATES. I LIVE IN FLAGSTAFF, AZ AT 7,000 FEET ELEVATION. TEMPERATURES SIMILAR TO NORTHERN STATES.
THE HEAT IN THE 2018 CRV DOES NOT OPERATE SAFELY DURING AVERAGE WINTER TEMPERATURES (NORTH DAKOTA). WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY COLD OUTSIDE, BELOW ZERO DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THE HEAT IS NON EXISTENT CAUSING A TERRIBLE PROBLEM WITH DEFROSTING WINDOWS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR RESOLUTION. THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL ENGINE AND THERE WAS NO FIX IN PLACE FROM HONDA. I PROCEEDED WITH AN INCIDENT WITH AMERICAN HONDA WHICH THE CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THIS WAS AN UNKNOWN ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER AND MANY CAR FORUMS SAY OTHERWISE. I GUESS NOW I WAIT FOR RESOLUTION, TRADE THE VEHICLE, OR CRASH AS MY WINDSHIELD FOGS UP DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
GASOLINE FUMES ARE IN THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. OIL LEVEL WHEN MEASURED ON THE DIPSTICK IS OVERFILLED AND SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE. THE CABIN TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO HEAT UP ON A COLD DAY.

IN ADDITION, THE VENT CONTROLS WERE SLOW TO FUNCTION WHEN THE HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONER WERE ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOMASTER HONDA (3328 SHELBURNE RD, SHELBURNE, VT 05482, (802) 985-8411) MORE THAN THREE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
TAKATA RECALL THE OIL LEVEL IN MY HONDA EXTREMELY RAISED HIGHER THE MAX. BAR, AND IT SMELLS GAS. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR ON HIGHWAY BECAUS I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF THE OIL WILL LEAK OR THE CAR WILL JUST SUDDENLY STOPE. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUES TO HONDA. THANK YOU

ON 2019-01-25 AT ABOUT 12:25PM I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. COMING FROM A FULL STOP I TURNED RIGHT ONTO A MERGE LANE AND DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. CAR SPED UP THEN SUDDENLY LOST RPMS. I MADE IT TO 45MPH AND, FORTUNATELY, HAD ENOUGH TIME TO MERGE. IF I HAD STARTED ONE OR TWO SECONDS LATER, I WOULD'VE HAD TO PANIC-BRAKE IN THE MERGE LANE INSTEAD OF MERGING. THIS WAS DISCONCERTING. CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR 10 MINUTES EARLIER THAT MORNING; I HAD THEN DONE A QUICK SHOPPING TRIP AND HAD RESUMED DRIVING. OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE 30S. CAR IS REGULARLY DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCES IN OUR SMALL TOWN. OIL LEVEL, MEASURED AT DIPSTICK WITH CAR LEVEL AND ENGINE COLD, IS WELL PAST THE HIGH MARK.
OBSERVED HIGH ENGINE OIL LEVEL; ALMOST AN INCH OVER THE HIGH LEVEL MARK ON DIPSTICK WITH GAS ODOR. HONDA ADVISED TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALER. TOOK IT TO DEALER ON 2/4/19 AT 21152 MILES. THEY FOUND OIL LEVEL HIGH WITH GAS SMELL. BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING SAYING THAT HONDA IS WORKING ON A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THERE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE ISSUED BY HONDA AS SERVICE BULLETIN 18-114. BUT MINE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY UPDATE. HONDA CASE MANAGER ADVISED TO TAKE IT BACK IF STALLS OR ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT ENGINE LUBRICATION PROBLEMS AND THEREBY REDUCED LIFE OF ENGINE AND POSSIBLE EMISSION PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD ONCE WARRANTY EXPIRES. CONCERNED DANGER OF VEHICLE STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AS WELL. ON COLD START ENGINE VIBRATION FEELS AT THE STEERING. TAKES TIME FOR THE ENGINE TO HEAT UP.
OIL IS DILUTED WITH GASOLINE. OIL VOLUME WAS A QUART OVERFULL. IT WAS STATIONARY.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SMART HONDA DES MOINES (11206 HICKMAN RD, DES MOINES, IA 50325, (515) 253-3040) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE SOFTWARE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
MY CAR WAS IN PARK. THE PLASTIC TRIM PIECE THAT HOUSES THE CONTROLS FOR THE SEAT, ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, HAS A TRIM PIECE THAT CURVES AROUND TO THE FRONT OF THE SEAT ABOUT 4-5". THIS TRIM PIECE CAUGHT MY PANT LEG ON MY EXIT FROM THE CAR AND I FELL OUT OF THE CAR ONTO THE GROUND. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS DEC. 21ST 2018, MY BODY WAS SORE FOR 2 DAYS. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY HAD ME GO TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND HAVE THE TRIM PIECE REPLACED. 2 TIMES NOW THIS TRIM PIECE HAS CAUGHT MY PANT LEG ON MY EXIT FROM THE CAR AND I HAVE FALLEN OUT OF THE CAR ON TO THE GROUND. THE SECOND TIME THE TRIM PIECE CAUGHT MY PANT LEG WAS ON JANUARY 23RD. 2019 AND I FELL OUT OF THE CAR ON TO THE GROUND, WRENCHING MY LEFT SHOULDER, LEFT HIP AND SKINNING MY LEFT KNEE. I HAVE CALLED HONDA BOTH TIMES AND MADE A REPORT. I DO HAVE A CASE #, BUT THEY ARE CLOSED TODAY SO I WILL GET THE CASE # ON MONDAY.. I AM SENDING 4 PICTURES THE FIRST 3 ARE DRIVER SIDE TRIM PIECE THAT IS STICKING OUT AND THE LAST ONE IS PASSENGER SIDE TRIM PIECE THAT IS NICE AND TUCKED IN. BIG DIFFERENCE!!
THE AUTOMATIC BRAKES DEPLOYED SUDDENLY WHEN THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF DANGER, TWICE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF ABOUT 45 TO 50 MPH AND ON TWO OCCASIONS AT RESIDENTIAL SPEEDS HAVE ABOUT 20 TO 25 MPH.
ENGINE OIL DILUTION CONTINUES AFTER HONDA FIX WITH REPROGRAMMING ENGINE COMPUTER AND AC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT. HONDA HAS EXTENDED THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY TO 6 YEARS UNLIMITED MILEAGE FROM THE ORIGINAL SALE DATE. CURRENT MILEAGE 14,000. ENGINE OIL AND FILTER HAS BEEN CHANGED 8 TIMES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.
Ever since I purchased this car, my air conditioning have had nothing but problems. Even though it was recalled once and was repaired another issue is the Discharge Hose leaking which is preventing my air conditioning from cooling the cabin. This has been an ongoing issue ever since I purchased the car. I have not done any excessive or off road driving which would cause the damage and I believe it is a manufacturer defect on Honda. I have attached the report from the Honda Service Department.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT THE ENTIRE DISPLAY (HEAD UNIT) WITH THE MAP WENT OFF, CAME BACK ON AND THEN STARTED TO BEHAVE ERRATICALLY. I HEARD BEEPING SOUNDS AS IF SOMEONE WERE ACTUALLY TOUCHING THE SCREEN, THE BRIGHTNESS TURNED UP AND DOWN BY ITSELF AS WELL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TESTED IT AND SAID THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM THAT I HAD VIDEOS FROM WHEN IT HAPPENED TO CLEARLY ILLUSTRATE THE PROBLEM BUT THEY WERE NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN SEEING THE VIDEOS. THEY ASKED ME TO RETURN IF IT SHOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. HOWEVER NONSENSICAL THIS RESPONSE, I WILL TAKE THEM UP ON THIS OFFER. I WONDER WHAT GUARANTEE THEY HAVE THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. IF THEY CAN'T, WHATEVER THEY ARE PROPOSING TO DO THEN I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO WHEN I TOOK IT IN.
CONTACTED HONDA REGARDING BRAND NEW 2018 HONDA CRV VOYAGER REGARDING OIL DILUTION. THE COMPANY SAYS THAT THE GAS SMELL ON THE VEHICLES OIL DIP STICK IS "NORMAL." THEY ALSO STATED THAT IF THE OIL LEVEL IS TOO HIGH AN INTERIOR LIGHT OR ENGINE NOISE WOULD INDICATE AN ISSUE. MEANING THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS ARBITRARY.
