POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FROZE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT TURN. STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON , BUT I WAS NEARLY HIT BY A CAR THAT ASSUMED I WOULD BE ABLE TO TURN FASTER. STEERING SEEMED TO RESET AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN, BUT DID NOTICE SOME SLUGGISHNESS WITH ACCELERATION AFTER RESTARTING. THIS IS A REALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND I NOTICE OTHER PUBLISHED REPORTS OF THIS, SO I THINK THIS WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL! *TR
AFTER A VERY HEAVY RAINSTORM, WE FOUND STANDING WATER IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR; THE REAR DRIVER SIDE FLOOR WAS ALSO VERY WET. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE PAST 10 MONTHS. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE PLASTIC SHEETING INSIDE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND USED DIFFERENT KINDS OF ADHESIVE TO ATTACH THE PLASTIC SHEETING. HOWEVER, WATER IS STILL LEAKING INTO THE CAR WHENEVER WE GET HEAVY RAIN (OVER 1 INCH). THE CAR IS STARTING TO SMELL MOLDY, BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET THE CARPET DRY. *TR
WENT TO DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, WAS TOLD COMPLIANCE BUSHING WAS CRACKED AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE UNEVENNESS AND PULLING IN SUSPENSION AND TIRES TO CUP AND BECOME DANGEROUS. ONLINE RESOURCES SEEM TO SHOW THIS AS A COMMON PROBLEM IN HONDAS, BUT NOT IN OTHER MAKES. *TR
THE CAR LAST COMMUNICATION WITH THE THROTTLE, THIS IS COUSE BY A COMPUTER CHIP ON A 2007 HONDA FIT, MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS HAPPENED WHEN YOU CHANGE THE GASOLINE PUMP, THIS IS A VERY DENGERES PROBLEM ON 2007 HONDA FIT. *TR
ONCE IN AUGUST 2013 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THEN AGAIN THIS TIME IN APRIL 2014 POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING, THIS TIME I WAS GOING AROUND 45 MPH. BOTH TIMES, WHEN YOU TURN CAR OFF AND START AGAIN POWER STEERING WORKS FINE. *TR
AFTER IT RAINS, WATER POOLS IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT IN THE HATCHBACK. DOES NOT SEEM TO BE BREACHING THE SEAL AROUND THE HATCHBACK. SUSPECT WATER IS ENTERING THROUGH TAIL LIGHT. THIS OCCURS WITH A MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN, OR WHILE WASHING THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER HAD TO USE MORE EFFORT IN ORDER TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHEN COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP - THIS HAS HAPPENED AT NUMEROUS OCCASION. A LOT OF OTHER SAME VEHICLE OWNERS HAVE CONFIRMED THIS AS WELL (THIS STARTED AT AROUND 45K MILES). ALSO, THE ENGINE WOULD GIVE A VIBRATING NOISE NOW WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. ALL OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE WERE DONE ACCORDING TO THE USER MANUAL BUT THESE ISSUE STILL ARISE FROM NORMAL LIGHT DRIVING CONDITION. *TR
WATER LEAKS INTO REAR HATCH AND POOLS INTO THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONE ON RTE. 528 APPROX 11:30PM, AND HAD BEEN DRIVING AT 70MPH FOR 30 MINUTES, WHEN A TOW TRUCK APPEARED ON THE SIDE OF AN UNLIT HWY. I TURNED ON MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL TO CHANGE LANES AND STAY AWAY FROM THE TOW TRUCK WHICH WAS LOCATED ON THE SHOULDER. AS I CHANGED LANES, I NOTICED THAT FOR A SECOND OR TWO MY HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT AND THEN TURNED BACK ON. I CONTINUED ON MY WAY BUT APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES LATER MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY STAYED OUT. I WAS IMMEDIATELY THRUST INTO TOTAL DARKNESS. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING. I DID NOT KNOW IF I WAS ON THE ROAD OR NOT. AS I SLOWED DOWN AND BRAKED, I COULD NOT EVEN SEE WHERE THE ROAD WAS OR WHERE THE SHOULDER WAS TO PULL OFF ON. TOTAL BLACKNESS WITH ZERO VISIBILITY. I THOUGHT I MIGHT BE KILLED RIGHT THERE AS I COULD SEE NOTHING AND THERE WERE NO STREET LIGHTS. NEAR PANIC, I JIGGLED THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER AND THE HEADLIGHTS SNAPPED BACK ON. I PROCEEDED HOME, A FIVE MINUTE MORE DRIVE, WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. I RECALL THAT APPROX. FIVE MONTHS AGO MY TAIL LIGHTS WENT OUT AND A FUSE WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE REPAIR PERSON SUGGESTED THAT I MAY HAVE BEEN HIT BY LIGHTENING. THIS TIME, I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE PERSON WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE THROUGH TESTING. A NEW SWITCH WAS ORDERED BUT IT APPEARS THAT THE SWITCH MAY HAVE ALSO CAUSED THE TAIL LIGHTS TO GO OUT RATHER THAN LIGHTENING. THE DEALER SAYS THAT NO OTHER CASES SUCH AS MINE HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED, AS YET. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO HONDA AND A CASE NUMBER WAS RECORDED. I AM DOCUMENTING THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE I TRULY BELIEVE THAT, IF IT IS A FAULTY HEADLIGHT SWITCH, THEN OTHERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED AS I EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AS I WAS IMMEDIATELY PLUNGED INTO TOTAL DARKNESS ON A COMPLETELY DESERTED PITCH BLACK ROAD. *TR
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. COULD BARELY MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. I FOUND OUT THAT HONDA HAS A TSB OUT ON THIS KNOWN PROBLEM (TSB # 09-043). IT INVOLVES AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OF THE EPS MODULE. IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, AS THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED TO ENGAGE WHEN STARTING FROM A COLD START AND ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OUT OF A PARKING LOT. INDICATOR PANEL LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED CAR OFF, THEN STARTED AGAIN AND POWER STEERING ENGAGED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THIS SAME SCENARIO OCCURRED A FEW MORE TIMES OVER THE FOLLOWING MONTHS, HOWEVER, MUCH MORE FREQUENT THESE LAST 2 MONTHS, NOV./DEC. 2013. HAS NOT HAPPENED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD THANKFULLY. CAR BECOMES VERY HARD TO STEER. INFORMED HONDA SERVICE CENTER 12/17/13 OF PROBLEM DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THEY PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC ($75) AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING CONTROL UNIT (EPS) FOR $958. INVESTIGATED ONLINE POSTS AND FOUND MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE AS WELL. SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN CONDITION BY HONDA (SERVICE BULLETIN # 09-043) AND IS A POTENTIAL AND DEADLY SAFETY ISSUE, I FEEL IT WARRANTS INVESTIGATION AND SUBSEQUENT RECALL ACTION. *TR
THERE ARE THREE SEPARATE BUT RECURRING INCIDENTS. FIRST THE TAIL LIGHTS AND PART OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS BLEW OUT. THE DEALER SAID I WAS PROBABLY HIT BY LIGHTENING AND REPLACED THE TAIL LIGHT BULBS AND A FUSE. NEXT THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS PLUNGED INTO TOTAL DARKNESS. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A SWITCH. TWO WEEKS AFTER REPLACING THE SWITCH THE TAILLIGHTS HAVE BLOWN OUT AGAIN. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS A FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I WILL GO TO THE DEALER AGAIN TODAY BUT DO NOT THINK THE TECHS THERE KNOW WHAT TO DO. *TR
MY CAR WOULD HESITATE OR HICCUP WHILE DRIVING 50MPH OR MORE. THE CAR WOULD ALSO SEEM TO THREATEN TO STALL AT RED LIGHTS. *TR
POWER-ASSISTED STEERING FAILED APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES INTO DRIVING. WARNING LIGHT FOR STEERING DID ILLUMINATE ON THE DASH CONSOLE. AFTER TURNING OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTING, THE POWER-ASSISTED STEERING RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. *TR
ON COLD MORNINGS (<~50 F) THE VEHICLE STARTS FINE BUT HAS A ROUGH IDLE. WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN ~1/4 MILE FROM MY HOME THE CAR WILL LOSE ENGINE POWER AND SOMETIMES STALL (ONCE IN THE MIDDLE OF A ONCOMING TRAFFIC). ONCE THE COLD ENGINE LIGHT GOES AWAY (AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING) THE STALLING/LOSE OF POWER GOES AWAY. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AFTER STALLING AND THE CAR PRODUCES NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES. *TR
WHILE GOING 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE POWER STEERING GAVE OUT AND THE LITTLE LIGHT ICON ON THE DASH TURNED ON. LUCKILY, BECAUSE I WAS GOING SO FAST I DIDN'T NEED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL MUCH IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE OFF TO AN EXIT. WHEN THE POWER STEERING GIVES OUT THE WHEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. AFTER THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES I WOULD TURN ON THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY THE ICON WOULD LIGHT UP AND THERE WOULD BE NO POWER STEERING. THEN I WOULD SHUT THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THEN IT WOULD WORK AGAIN. THEN I FINALLY GOT STUCK SOMEWHERE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING COMPUTER? IT COST $600+5 HOURS OF LABOR. NOW, ALMOST A YEAR LATER, IT HAPPENS AGAIN. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT IS THE MOTOR CONNECTED TO THE POWER STEERING? ANYHOW, SUPER DANGEROUS TO BE ABLE TO LOSE STEERING CAPABILITIES AT ANY TIME. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ACROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION, I WAS WANTING TO TURN LEFT AND IN DOING SO, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT OF THE CAR AND I HEADED RIGHT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS UNABLE TO RE-ATTAIN POWER STEERING AND HAD TO GET MY CAR PUSHED INTO A PARKING LOT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING (FIRST TIME WHILE DRIVING IN A BUSY INTERSECTION). I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR AS IT HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT. I HAVE READ ON MULTIPLE WEBSITES THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUES FOR HONDA FITS BUT THERE HAS STILL NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED. I KNOW THAT I FEEL UNSAFE NOW IN MY OWN CAR, SOMETHING I WOULD NEVER WANT ANYONE TO FEEL. THIS NEEDS TO BE ISSUED AS A RECALL TO ENSURE THAT NO INJURIES ARE SUSTAINED DUE TO THIS OCCURRING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT SHOWING ANY IDENTIFICATION CODE THAT THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT, IT IS ONLY RIGHT TO ISSUE A RECALL AND ENSURE EVERYONE'S SAFETY ON THE ROAD. *TR
2007 HONDA FIT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SAFETY RECALL AIRBAG REPAIRS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE FOR THREE SAFETY RECALLS. THE RECALL WAS INTENDED TO ADDRESS THE FRONT AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS. THE DEALER PERFORMED A $98 DIAGNOSTIC AND SPENT OVER TWO HOURS TRYING TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. ALONG WITH THE RECALL TO REMEDY THE CORROSION DAMAGE AND A FAULTY CONNECTION IN THE SRS OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM; THEY FOUND AN OPEN DRIVER FIRST AIRBAG INFLATOR. THEY HOOKED UP THE SRS SIMULATOR AND REPLACED THE CABLE REEL THE BILL FOR THE AIR BAG REPAIR WAS $415.18. THE DEALER REDUCED THE LABOR COST BY $50.00. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT SET. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH.
AFTER AN OVERNIGHT TORRENTIAL RAIN I REALIZED THAT THE BACK SEAT FLOOR OF MY HONDA FIT 2007 (BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT) HAD A PUDDLE OF WATER. I MEAN, A BIG PUDDLE. NO WINDOWS WAS LEFT OPEN AND THE CAR WAS NEVER DAMAGED. I USED TO PARK IN A GARAGE OVER NIGHT. SO OF COURSE I NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THIS UNTIL I MOVED BECAUSE I NOW HAVE TO PARK THE CAR OUTSIDE. AND OF COURSE IT IS OVER 3 YEARS OLD SO THE WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT. I ALWAYS TOOK GOOD CARE OF THE CAR AND HAD ALL THE SERVICE DONE ON TIME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REQUEST $150 JUST TO RUN A DIAGNOSIS. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS WILL HAVE TO BE FILED FOR HONDA TO ADMIT THE PROBLEM???? THIS IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE. AND AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINT I AM NOW ALSO GETTING WORRIED ABOUT THE HEALTH OF MY KID BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE MOLD GROWTH! HOW CAN HONDA IGNORE THIS. I USED TO BE VERY PROUD OF MY HONDA FIT AND LOVED IT BUT I FEEL NOW THAT THEY ARE FOOLING US AND IF NOTHING IS BEING MADE, HONDA CAN BE SURE THEIR BRAND WON'T BE IN MY LIST ONCE THE TIME TO BUY A NEW CAR COMES. AND I WILL GLADLY LET FAMILY AND FRIENDS ABOUT THIS SO THEY WOULD NOT BUY HONDA AS WELL. I KNOW I AM ONLY ONE PERSON AND THEY PROBABLY WON'T CARE BUT THEY ARE ENDANGERING PEOPLE'S HEALTH AND LIFE AND SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING A RIGHT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO HIS VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000. UPDATED 09/07/12*LJ PICTURES RECEIVED. 09/10/12 UPDATED 10/11/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE INJURIES OCCURRED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BACK, SHOULDER, AND NECK. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A MAIN STREET AT 35 MPH. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. AN INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH BOARD AFTER THE STEERING QUIT. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME WITH OUT THE POWER STEERING. WE FOUND A FORUM ON LINE WHERE WE FOUND THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED. ONCE WE RE-STARTED THE CAR THE POWER STEERING WORKED. THE PEOPLE ON THE FORUM HAVE COMPLAINED THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE AND CHILDREN. IF IT GOES OUT WHENEVER WHAT WILL HAPPEN THE NEXT TIME? *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING IN LIGHT TRAFFIC ON A 2-LANE ROAD, CLUTCH FAILED AND I COULD NOT ENGAGE GEARS TO DRIVE. HAD TOWED TO MECHANIC, WHO RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON FAILURE IN HONDA FITS. THE TABS OR TEETH ON THE PRESSURE PLATE OF THE CLUTCH WERE WARPED OR BENT CAUSING IT NOT TO ENGAGE. MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY POOR ENGINEERING DESIGN. UNDER DIFFERENT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS, THIS LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES TO ME AND OTHERS. BECAUSE MY MECHANIC'S RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THIS TYPE OF CLUTCH FAILURE OCCURS TOO OFTEN FOR SUCH NEWER CARS, I BELIEVE YOUR AGENCY SHOULD REQUIRE HONDA TO - AT THE VERY LEAST- WARN OTHERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED FITS WITH STANDARD TRANSMISSIONS AND RE-DESIGN THE PART TO AVOID ITS FAILURE. IDEALLY, THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE POORLY DESIGNED PART AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
DEFINITELY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE LOW BEAM AND FOG LIGHTS IN THIS CAR. JUST ENTERED TO INTERNET TO FIND IF SOMEONE LIKE ME, WITHOUT ADDITIONAL INCIDENTS, SUDDENLY MY LOW BEAM AND FOG LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING, AND FOUND NUMEROUS CASES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ACTS UP AND CAUSES YOU TO LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING MAKING THE STEERING OF THE CAR SUPER STIFF AT A MOMENTS NOTICE. ACCORDING TO FORUMS ONLINE THIS, PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON AMONGST HONDA FIT OWNERS AND MOST PEOPLES' ISSUE IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING CONTROL UNIT. MY ISSUE IS THE SAME FAULTY COMPONENT. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF MODEL YEAR 2007 HONDA FIT. THIS YEAR, WHEN THE CAR REACHED AROUND 76,000 MILES THE CLUTCH BEGAN TO FAIL TO FULLY DISENGAGE WITH THE PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. EVENTUALLY THE PROBLEM WAS ISOLATED TO THE MECHANICAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (AS OPPOSED TO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM). AFTER DISASSEMBLY IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE ?DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS? ON THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE WERE BENT, SOME MORE SEVERELY THAN OTHERS. MY TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS SORT OF THING HAPPEN BEFORE. IN ORDER FOR THE PRESSURE PLATE DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS TO HAVE BENT, ONE OF TWO THINGS MUST HAVE OCCURRED: 1. THE DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS WERE DAMAGED DURING ASSEMBLY. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THEN THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN APPARENT WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW, NOT SOME 76,000 MILES LATER. IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS ON THE CLUTCH (M41L 11 23/50) SHOULD PROVE THAT THIS CLUTCH WAS THE ORIGINAL AND HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. 2. THE DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS OF THE CLUTCH LOST THEIR SPRING TENSION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING ON A MOUNTAINOUS ROAD APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE, CHECKED SYSTEMS, FOUND NOTHING MALFUNCTIONING. WHILE DRIVING SATURDAY NIGHT, LOW BEAMS INITIALLY WORKED DURING STEADY USE FOR AN HOUR. AFTER ENTERING A DARK ROAD, I SWITCHED TO HIGH BEAMS, AND WHEN I WENT TO SWITCH BACK TO LOW BEAMS FOR ONCOMING CAR, THEY FAILED. USED HIGH BEAMS TO DRIVE LAST 8 MILES HOME. USING HIGH BEAMS IS NOT AS HAZARDOUS AS NO LIGHTS, BUT I WAS BLINDING ONCOMING VEHICLES, AND THEY IN TURN WOULD SWITCH TO HIGH BEAMS AND BLIND ME. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT. THE STEERING LIGHT IN THE DASH CAME ON AND I LOST POWERING STEERING AND HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR HOME IN SNOWY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER MY CAR HOME I WAS AFRAID I WAS GOING TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I DROVE VERY SLOW AND CAUTIOUS BUT I GOT HOME SAFELY. I GOT HOME AND TOLD MY HUSBAND AND SON TO LOOK AT MY CAR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN THEY TURNED IT BACK ON, THE STEERING LIGHT TURNED OFF AND I HAD POWER STEERING AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED MY CAR AND THE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN AND I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AND POWER STEERING CAME BACK. I WAS FORTUNATE THIS TIME I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT POWER STEERING. WE DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT HONDA BULLETIN 09-043 AND FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE BULLETIN SAID THAT ALL 2007 FITS WERE EFFECTED AND THAT IT IS THE EPS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) UNIT. I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL BE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN AND THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ACCELERATED OUT OF AN INTERSECTION, FROM A STOP AT A STOP SIGN, CAR LOST POWER, STEERING...COASTED ACROSS INTERSECTION TO A STOP. CALLED FOR A TOW. WHILE WAITING, ATTEMPTED TO START CAR-IT STARTED. DROVE HOME AND HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER, EXAMINED FOR SEVERAL DAYS, COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM TO FIX. SAME PROBLEM JUST OCCURRED WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR. CAR SUDDENLY LOST STEERING/POWER. GOT CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD. AGAIN, IT RESTARTED ON ITS OWN AFTER A FEW MINUTES. WEATHER CONDITIONS COLD AND DRY. *TR
SINCE AROUND 100 K MILES, MY CAR'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN FLICKERING OR STAYING ON AND THEN GOING OFF ON ITS OWN AFTER A COLD START. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT FLICKERS UPON DRIVING BEFORE WARM, ONCE THE GAS IS LET UP, THE LIGHT EITHER STOPS FLICKERING, OR CONTINUES TO FLICKER AND THEN REMAINS ON FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN GOES OFF ON ITS OWN. EVERY TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN TO HAVE THE CODE READ, IT'S A MISFIRE ON A SPECIFIC COIL. I HAD ONE COIL REPLACED, AND THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM (OR NOT, BECAUSE SOON AFTER, THE WEATHER WARMED AND THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR IN WARMER WEATHER). THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 3 WINTERS, MAYBE 4. I JUST HAD ALL 4 COIL PACKS AND ALL SPARK PLUGS REPLACED. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A WEEK, AND THE CEL FLICKERED AND EVENTUALLY REMAINED ON. THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF FIT, AND IT SEEMS THAT NOT EVEN HONDA DEALERSHIPS CAN REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CAR NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 150 K MILES, AND THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER MAJOR ISSUES. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN KEPT UP ON THE VEHICLE, AND MY MECHANIC HAS CHECKED FOR HOSE LEAKS, ETC. HE SUGGESTED USING A FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER, WHICH ALSO HELPED THE ISSUE VERY TEMPORARILY. THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REMEDIED WITH THE SPARK/COIL PACK REPLACEMENT IS THAT THE CAR NO LONGER STUTTERS DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING (AT 50-70 MPH, THE CAR SEEMED AS THOUGH IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL - THIS PROBLEM WAS REMEDIED BY USING SPARK PLUGS WITH A SHORTER DISTANCE ON THE DIODE, THERE HAS BEEN NO DIFFERENCE AFTER THE COIL PACK REPLACEMENT, AND THE LAST TIME THE CODES WERE READ, ALL COILS WERE RANDOMLY PUTTING OUT MISFIRE CODES). *TR

THE BOTH OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT AND THE FOG LIGHT FAILED TO LIGHT UP WITHOUT WARNING AT NIGHT AROUND 8:30PM. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE RECENTLY AND I HAD ALREADY BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO DEALER TO HAVE THEM PERFORM THE RECALL REMEDY PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. SO I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WAS SHORTED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER TOLD IT WAS NOT RECALL RELATED AND I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THE ISSUE. HAVING HEADLIGHT FAILURE SUDDENLY AT NIGHT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. THIS CAR IS LEAKING HORRENDOUSLY. I HAVE TO VACUUM THE FLOORING OF THIS CAR SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK TO PREVENT MOLD FROM GROWING ON THE WALLS, FLOORING AND SEATS OF THE VEHICLE. NO AFTER MARKET WORK HAS BEEN DONE AND WE HAVE NOW HAD TO REMOVE ALL CARPET AND PADDING TO PREVENT FURTHER MOLD INFESTATION. THIS IS AN ALL TOO COMMON AND DANGEROUS COMPLAINT FOR THIS VEHICLE (AND THIS YEAR SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS MODEL). WE'VE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL EPISODES IN WHICH THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR IS HOLDING AN IMPRESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER AFTER IT HAS RAINED. WINDOWS HAVE NOT BEEN LEFT OPEN. WE HAVE DRIED UP THE AREA ONLY TO FIND ANOTHER PUDDLE OF STANDING WATER IN THE FLOOR SPACE AGAIN AND AGAIN. THERE ARE NO TELL-TALE SIGNS OF LEAKAGE ON THE UPHOLSTERY OR CEILING MATERIAL BUT THERE IS STARTING TO BE A MOLD SMELL BECAUSE WE CANNOT KEEP THE WATER OUT!
