TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF SUDDENLY AND SHE HAD TO USE THE HIGHBEAMS TO SEE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.
MY 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT (AUTOMATIC) HAS HAD A TRUNK LEAK FOR YEARS. I HAD NOTICED WET CARPETING BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BUT ASSUMED IT WAS FROM WET SHOES AFTER RAINFALL. IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS IN FACT A FAILURE IN THE WINDOW/DOOR SEAL IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE CAR HAD BEGUN TO DEVELOP AN ODOR WHICH, WHEN I CHECKED TODAY, HAS TURNED INTO MOLD. WE CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL BECAUSE OF FEARS OF INHALING MOLD SPORES. I HAD CHECKED THE FITFREAK.NET WEBSITE AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE AMONG FIT OWNERS. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED? MY CAR IS WORTHLESS UNLESS THIS CAN BE FIXED AND THE MOLD TOTALLY REMOVED. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER THE CAR IS MOVING OR STATIONARY: WATER WILL SEEP IN FROM THE FRAME, WET THE CARPET, AND PRODUCE MOLD.
VEHICLE WAS FINE WHEN NEW. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING AFTER A COLD START UP. VEHICLE WOULD START FINE BUT THEN STALL AFTER A STOP AS AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS WOULD OCCUR ON ANY COLD ENGINE START-UP. THE NORMAL PATTERN WOULD BE YOU WOULD COME TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE WOULD BE IDLING FINE. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JUST START TO MOVE INTO THE INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE WOULD STALL LEAVING YOU DANGEROUSLY STRANDED IN TRAFFIC. AFTER THE STALL THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART. THIS HAS NOT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT YET BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SOME CLOSE CALLS. CAR SEEMS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN TRAFFIC UNTIL IT IS WARMED UP. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER OCCURRED. PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO A HONDA DEALER WHO TOLD US "FITS HAVE NO DRIVABLITY PROBLEMS." DEALER SERVICE PEOPLE DROVE CAR, BUT ONLY WHEN IT WAS "WARMED UP" AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. AS THERE WERE NO TROUBLE CODES THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. STALLING CONTINUES AND WORSENS WITH TIME. I HAVE CALLED AMERICAN HONDA TO REQUEST HELP WITH THIS BUT IT IS NOT RESOLVED. I HAVE READ OF MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2007 FITS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE BUT FEW SEEM TO KNOW WHAT TO DO TO FIX IT. *TR
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY 2007 HONDA SPORT FIT..WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS AIM TOO LOW CAUSING LIMITED VISIBILITY. WHILE DRIVING THE LIGHTS SEEM TO MOVE UP AND DOWN..ITS CRAZY..I READ ANOTHER COMPLAINTS FROM 08/03/06 WHICH STATED THE EXACT SAME THING. I WILL HAVE TO BRING IT IN BUT A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT STATED THEY LIFTED THE BEAM BUT IT STILL DID IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRES ON THE WIRING HARNESS WERE MELTING. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE MILEAGE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY AND WOULD NOT COVER THE WIRING HARNESS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80000.
THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. IF MY SON HADN'T FIGURED OUT TO FLIP ON THE HIGH BEAMS, HE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IN AN ACCIDENT. IT LOOKS LIKE THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE SWITCH IS BAD. ALL OF THE FUSES ARE FINE. *TR
I STARTED MY 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT MODEL TO PULL OUT OF A PARALLEL PARKING SPOT. WHEN I BACKED UP AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL, THE STEERING LOCKED AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE TIRES. I COULD HOWEVER MOVE THE CAR FORWARD AND BACKWARD. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, GOT OUT AND INSPECTED THE CAR. NOTHING APPEARED AMISS. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT WORKED NORMALLY. I CONTACTED MY HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO RECREATE IT. HOWEVER, AFTER THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP, THEY ADVISED THAT ONE OF THEIR MECHANICS REMEMBERED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN - TSB 09-043 - THAT REFERRED TO THE PROBLEM. THE EPS CONTROL UNIT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. SINCE I HAVE READ THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN ALSO OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM INSTEAD OF MERELY A TSB! IN MY CASE, I WAS LUCKY THAT ONE OF HONDA'S EMPLOYEES JUST HAPPENED TO REMEMBER IT. I WAS ALSO ADVISED BY THE HONDA SERVICE EMPLOYEES THAT IT WAS AN "INTERMITTENT" PROBLEM AND THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. HOW CAN A CAR BE SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN THE STEERING LOCKS UP?
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS QUIT WORKING FORCING MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER TO DRIVE HOME WITH HIGH BEAMS. COST TO DIAGNOSE BY DEALER $106. NOW HAVE TO PAY AN ESTIMATED ADDITIONAL $315 TO REPAIR. CANNOT GET PART AFTERMARKET AND DEALER HAS TO ORDER. I JUST READ THAT THIS MAY BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND WANTED TO ADD MY EXPERIENCE. *TR
MY HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING IN MY '07 HONDA FIT SPORT. I HAD A HONDA DEALERSHIP INSPECT IT, AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT WITH THE BULBS OR WITH THE FUSES FOR THESE LIGHTS. THE HI-BEAMS AND TURNING SIGNALS STILL WORK FOR THE CAR, BUT I DO NOT HAVE REGULAR HEADLIGHTS FOR DRIVING AT NIGHT WHICH COULD DEFINITELY PRESENT A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE IN ACTIVATION. SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING THE LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. IMMEDIATELY, THE HIGH BEAMS WERE ENGAGED TO CONTINUE IN TRAVEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
AFTER COMING TO A STOP, WHEN START TO ACCELERATE, VEHICLE STALLS. THEN HAS HARD TIME STARTING BACK UP. HAS CAUSED SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH ALMOST BEING T-BONED AS THE CAR STALLED AFTER TRYING TO COMPLETE A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A COMPLETE STOP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE HEADLIGHT FAILED AND FLUCTUATED BETWEEN ON AND OFF SPORADICALLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED WITH LOSING VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AND LOCATED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE. BASED ON THE INFORMATION FOUND ONLINE, THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE WIRING HARNESS AND NOT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
BRAKES WHEN OUT, SERPENTINE BELT BADLY CRACKED, AND LEAKING COOLANT. *TR
EPS POWERSTEERING SYSTEM ON VEHICLE FAILED DURING COLD START OF VEHICLE. DURING A COLD START THE VEHICLE STARTS UP NORMALLY UNTIL YOU TURN THE WHEEL. THE EPS TURNS OFF AND A POWERSTEERING LIGHT TURNS ON. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON AGAIN RESETS THE SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. EPS CAN BE REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP BUT COSTS ABOUT $1000 TOTAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL GO OUT CAUSING THE THE CONTACT TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED IT'S NOT THE BULB THAT'S BLOWING, BUT IT'S SOMETHING ELECTRICAL THAT'S CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER REGARDING THE HEAD LIGHT AND THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE NEEDS THE COMBINATION SWITCH AND CONNECTOR REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS (06E023000) BUT THE RECALL WAS FOR THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE RECALL TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE CAN BE REPAIRED UNDER THE SAME RECALL FOR THE HONDA CIVIC, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEIR IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD EXTEND THE RECALL FOR THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER HAS ALREADY RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE ON THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AND THEN IT WOULD SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE WHICH MADE IT HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56000.
HEADLIGHT FAILURE OCCURRING FREQUENTLY. I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE MY HEADLIGHTS 6 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HONDA AND THEY JUST REPLACE THE BULB WITHOUT LOOKING FOR THE ACTUAL PROBLEM. USUALLY IT IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE LIGHT BULB, BUT I HAVE HAD THE PASSENGER ONE GO OUT AS WELL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED OR REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE WIRING IN THE SWITCH MELTED, RENDERING THE HEADLIGHTS INOPERATIVE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS STATED IN RECALL 04V086000. UPDATED EVOQ 09/10/10*JB UPDATED 10/20/10 *BF ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THERE WAS A COMBINATION SWITCH FAILURE. THE CONNECTOR AND WIRING HAD MELTED. UPDATED EVOQ 10/20/10*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE FROM A PARKING SPACE, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN A MONTH AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL STEERING MODULE WOULD NEED REPLACING. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THERE IS A WATER LEAK FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE CARPET IS WET AND WATER HAS ACCUMULATED UNDERNEATH THE CARPET. THERE IS STRONG MOLDY SMELL. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT RAINS. *TR
I DROVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT 40 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY, LEFT IT IN THE PARKING LOT OF A RESTAURANT WHILE AT A BRIDAL SHOWER FOR ABOUT 2 1/4 HOURS. BECAUSE THE DAY WAS HOT I LOWERED THE DRIVER'S WINDOW TO LET AIR IN, THEN DROVE THE CAR OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND IMMEDIATELY ONTO THE HIGHWAY ON-RAMP. ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY I RAISED THE WINDOW AGAIN. VERY SHORTLY THEREAFTER I SMELLED A "HOT" OR BURNING SMELL, NOTICED THICK SMOKE COMING OUT BETWEEN THE WINDOW BUTTONS ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. I PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR, GOT OUT AND CALLED FOR HELP. WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR. I COULD SEE THE PLASTIC ON THE DOOR MELTING AND DRIPPING. POLICE AND FIRE PERSONNEL ARRIVED, EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND TOWED THE CAR. ALTHOUGH I TRIED TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SMOKE I DID END UP INHALING SOME OF IT AND EXPERIENCED MILD CHEST PAIN AND COUGHING FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHE DISCOVERED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING . THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE OPEN GROUND WIRE FOR THE LOW BEAM HAD CORRODED WHICH CAUSED THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE AND SHE NEEDED TO HAVE THE COMBINATION SWITCH REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. SHE WAS ADVISED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE 62,236.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, SHE NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE COMBINATION SWITCH AND THE ATTACHING WIRE HARNESS WAS OVERHEATED AND HAD BURNED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRES AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,551 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,500. UPDATED 09/15/10. *LJ THE HEADLAMPS AND TAIL LAMPS WERE INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER STATED THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR FAILED. UPDATED 09/16/10
I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES IN A RECALL (07V-549) FOR WIRE HARNESS OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM. THIS RECALL APPLIES TO "SALT STATES", HOWVER WE HERE IN FLORIDA NEAR THE GULF OF MEXICO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH SALT AND CORROSION. I WOULD LIKE TO URGE THE NHTSA TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL STATES NEAR SALT WATER. THE DEALER AND HONDA MOTOR CARS, USA HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THIS ISSUE AT NO COST.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST WOULD FAIL ON START UP, PARTICULARLY AFTER SOME OVERNIGHT RAIN. WITHOUT THE STEERING ASSIST THIS CAR BECOMES DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO HANDLE. RESTARTING THE ENGINE HAS CORRECTED THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM SO FAR, BUT IT POSES A CONSIDERABLE DANGER, ESPECIALLY IF THE STEERING ASSIST WERE TO CUT OUT DURING HIGH SPEED DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE FAILING AND WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO ILLUMINATE WHEN ENGAGED. HE CHECKED THE STEERING COLUMN AND FOUND THAT THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS CONNECTOR SWITCH HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 77,000.
THE LOW BEAMS AND FOG LIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT. I PULLED UP TO A GAS STATION AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. WHEN I WENT STARTED THE ENGINE AND TURNED WENT TO TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON NOTHING HAPPENED. THEY HAVEN'T WORKED SINCE. THE HIGH-BEAMS ARE UNAFFECTED. BULBS AND FUSES WERE TESTED BUT BOTH WERE FINE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 HONDA FIT. THERE IS A LEAK IN THE CAR, UNSURE IF IT'S FROM THE FRONT DOOR OR REAR DOOR PANELS BUT THE FLOORS IN THE BACKSEAT AREA GET SOAKED EVERY TIME IT RAINS. (WHICH IS DAILY THIS TIME OF YEAR IN FLORIDA) MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAD ANY TYPE OF REPAIRS. MOLD IS FORMING ON THE CARPET, THE CAR SMELLS HORRIBLE! I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE VERY SAME ISSUE AS ME. DEALERSHIPS ARE SCOFFING AT THE PROBLEM STATING THAT EVERY CASE "IS ISOLATED" AND THAT SIMPLY IS NOT TRUE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. PEOPLE ARE HAVING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THEMSELVES WHETHER OR NOT IT'S UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE VALUE OF MY 2007 HONDA FIT IS DOWN THE TUBES! I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS AS WELL AND SOME HAVE PENDING LAW SUITS. IT SEEMS AS IF THE 2007 MODEL IS A LEMON! HONDA IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THIS PROBLEM AS THERE ARE ALREADY THREE OTHER RECALLS ON THIS CAR. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. WE HAVE CHILDREN WHO HAVE TO RIDE IN THE BACKSEAT WITH THE MOLD! THIS IS AFFECTING OUR HEALTH. *TR

WATER LEAKING INTO REAR SEAT WELLS AND SPARE WELL. FIXED 3 TIMES BY TAPING FAILED DOOR PLASTIC SHEETING. MOLD GROWING ON CARPET. FRAME TESTED UNDER CARPET. WATER NOW LEAKING INTO SPARE WELL AS WELL. MOLD REMOVAL NEEDED TO MAKE CAR DRIVEABLE. CAR IS A HEALTH HAZARD WITH 3 SPECIES OF TOXIC MOLD PRESENT. PLEASE RECALL AS THIS PROBLEM IS A COMMON PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE FAILED TO YIELD AND CRASHED INTO THE LEFT FRONT OF THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 33,000.
MY 2007 HONDA FIT HAS DEFECTIVE DOOR SEALS IN AT LEAST THE FRONT TWO DOORS AND THE TRUNK LEADING TO BLACK MOLD AND RESULTING HEALTH CONCERNS. WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED ON ANY KIND IF INCLINE AND IT RAINS, WATER ENTERS THE CAR VIA THE DEFECTIVE DOOR SEALS AND SOAKS INTO THE REAR CARPETS CAUSING EXTENSIVE MOLD DAMAGE TO THE CARPETS AND SEALS. WATER ALSO FILLS THE REAR SPARE TIRE WELL. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS PARKED IN THE RAIN. I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED THIS WITH MY 2007 HONDA FIT. THIS LEAK COULD CAUSE BREATHING DIFFICULTIES AND OTHER PHYSICAL SIDE EFFECTS DUE TO BLACK MOLD. DESPITE MY AND OTHERS EFFORTS TO BRING THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF HONDA USA, THEY HAVE IGNORED ALL ATTEMPTS AND WILL NOT OFFER ME ANY ASSISTANCE. I HAVE WASTED A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY TRYING TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE THROUGH HONDA. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED FOR THIS LEAK ISSUE. IT WOULD BE THE FOURTH ISSUED FOR THIS CAR, AND TWO OF THE PREVIOUS RECALLS ARE LINKED TO WATER LEAKS OR WATER DAMAGE. THERE IS CLEARLY A SERIOUS RELATED DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING WITH THE FIRST FIVE YEARS OF THIS MODEL'S LIFESPAN. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR UTILIZING THE MANUAL ENTRY, THE KEY FAILED TO INSERT INTO THE DOOR LATCH. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V033000 (VISIBILITY: POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS). THE RECALL STATED IN SEVERE RAIN CONDITIONS, WATER MAY ENTER THE DRIVER'S WINDOW AND REACH THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHICH STATED THE DOOR FAILURE WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UPSET DUE TO THE RESULT OF WATER DAMAGE TO THE DOOR LOCKS AND THE VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE CURRENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000. TURNED IGNITION OFF FOR TWO MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN WITH A SIZZLE NOISE COMING FROM THE DOOR SWITCHES AGAIN. STARTED THE CAR ONE HOUR LATER, NO SIZZLE NOISE, ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN 3", IN ABOUT 30 TO 60 SECONDS THE WINDOW ROLLED ITSELF BACK UP. *TR

THE SERVICE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE DIAGNOSED WITH A SECOND OPINION. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,300.
I PURCHASED MY 2007 HONDA FIT APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO AT 49,000 MILES. MY EPS INDICATOR CAME ON LESS THAN ONE WEEK AFTER PURCHASE; IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE OF MY CAR. ON PAGE 62 OF MY OWNERS MANUAL IT SAYS TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND THE ISSUE SHOULD GO AWAY SO THAT IS WHAT I DID. IT ONLY RECOMMENDED TO HAVE IT CHECKED IF THE LIGHT DIDN'T GO AWAY WHEN RESTARTED. THE ISSUE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR BUT ALWAYS WENT AWAY AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE DURING COLD WEATHER. I HAD IT CHECKED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. AFTER IT STARTED HAPPENING WITH INCREASED FREQUENCY, AND PERSISTED AFTER MULTIPLE RESTARTS (ALTHOUGH IF I CAME BACK HOURS LATER IT WOULD BE FINE) I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH "EPS CONTROL UNIT INTERNAL FAILURE, EPS CONTROL UNIT NEEDS REPLACED" NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT COSTS $800 TO REPLACE. THIS IS A FRIGHTENING SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE WHEEL IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN THIS INDICATOR IS ON. I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE IN THAT IT HAS NEVER COME ON WHILE I AM DRIVING ALTHOUGH FROM MY RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE I HAVE LEARNED THERE ARE OTHERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN AS LUCKY AS I HAVE IN THIS REGARD. IT IS ALSO FRIGHTENING THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE THAT IS EASILY DIAGNOSED MY MECHANICS OUTSIDE THE DEALERSHIP. FOR HONDA OWNERS LIKE MYSELF THAT LIVE AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE CLOSEST DEALER; WE ARE LIKELY TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE CLOSER FIRST; WHERE WE ARE TOLD THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR CAR, ALTHOUGH THERE IS A POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING ISSUE WRONG WITH THE CAR. *TR
POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AND FAILED. I COULD NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL. I HAD TO STOP CAR, TURN OFF ENGINE AND RESTART TWICE BEFORE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONED AGAIN. SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM AND A RECALL IS IN ORDER!!! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH, BOTH LOW BEAM LIGHTS FAILED. THE CONTACT HAD TO ENGAGE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE CLUSTER BOARD PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HIS INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MASTER LIGHT SWITCH FOR THE LOW BEAMS LIGHTS WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN SIX MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,480 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

MY EPS UNIT ON MY HONDA FIT HAS FAILED AT RANDOM, VARIOUS POINTS IN VEHICLE OPERATION. WHILE MY OWN EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES IN 3 YEARS, THE CAUSE FOR CONCERN CAN BE VERIFIED THROUGH WWW.FITFREAK.NET WHERE MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF POSTERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THEIR UNITS LOCKING UP DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, THEREBY "LOCKING" THE STEERING WHEEL IN POSITION UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED. MY UNIT LAST LOCKED UP IN DECEMBER DURING THE COLD WEATHER HERE IN FLORIDA. AFTER CRANKING THE CAR AND DRIVING TO WORK, WHICH IS 3 MILES FROM HOME, I TOOK THE TURN TO GO ONTO THE ROAD TO WORK. WHILE DURING THE TURN, MY STEERING WHEEL INSTRUMENT LIGHT CAME ON, WHICH SIGNALED TO ME THAT I WAS SCREWED. BECAUSE I AM AWARE THAT THIS COULD OCCUR, I SLAMMED MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL, TURNED OFF/ON MY CAR, AND WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF MY STEERING WHEEL. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING OR IF I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS POSSIBLY OCCURRING, I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. AS IT WAS, I BARELY MISSED THE CAR BESIDE ME AS WELL AS NOT RUNNING OFF THE ROAD. ALL THE POSTERS THAT I HAVE SEEN ON FITFREAK.NET HAVE SHOWN THAT HONDA DOES NOT SEE THIS ISSUE AS BEING A DEFECT AND IS ACTUALLY CHARGING PEOPLE TO FIX WHAT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAS BEEN FOR 13,000 MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE WHEN STARTING THE CAR AFTER IT NOT BEING RUN FOR 3 DAYS, IT HAS OCCURRED WHEN I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND IT'S BEEN COLD WEATHER.
