The odometer is often unreadable. This has happening for several months now, maybe over a year, but recently more and more. I looked online and many people are saying this is a safety issue - these readings are used for inspections, maintenance, insurance, etc. Th problem is that there are extra segments highlighted in the LCD display, which makes the affected digits unreadable. Like, if all 7 segments appear showing an "8", that could be any number. If the number shows as a 7, it might really be a 1 -- you can't tell. If it shows a 3, that might really be a 7 or 1. Sometimes there is no actual digit showing, just a random assortment of segments. Date of "first" occurrence below is just an estimate, but it has really gotten worse in the last few weeks.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2020 FOR MY 2000 ODYSSEY. I HAVE RECEIVED NO FURTHER NOTICES. I CALLED A HONDA DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER TODAY AND BOTH TOLD ME THEY DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND HAVE NO TIMELINE FOR WHEN THESE REPLACEMENT PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY AS THIS VEHICLE IS 2O YEARS OLD AND IS HIGH MILEAGE.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HONDA IN MARCH THAT MY 2000 ODYSSEY NEEDED DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE ISSUE COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO A FATALITY. I WAS ALSO NOTIFIED THAT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. SIX MONTHS LATER, WE STILL DON'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF THE NEW AIRBAG PART, AND I'M HAVING TROUBLE BELIEVING THAT HONDA IS MAKING THIS A PRIORITY.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT THE AIRBAGS CAN HIT THE PASSENGER WITH METAL IF DEPLOYED OVER SIX MONTHS AGO. I KEEP CHECKING AND HONDA STATES THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HONDA NEEDS TO EXPEDITE PROCURING THIS PART. HONDA SHOULD BE FINE. WE TRAVELED FROM NEW MEXICO TO CALIFORNIA AND WHEN WE ARRIVED AND GOT IN TOWN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING ON CITY STREET
ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN SPEED SENSOR ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION AS REMOVED AS STATED ON THE HANES MANUAL FOR THE CAR BUT WHEN REINSTALLING A SPACER NOT MENTION IN THE BOOK AS NECESSARY FOR INSTALLATION FELL DURING REMOVAL AND AS RESULT NOT INSTALLED RESULTED ON THE BRAKING OF THE SENSOR WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO TOTALLY FAIL. I AM NOW WITHOUT CAR DUE A SIMPLE BOOK ERROR.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING ON ITS OWN.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THE OIL FAILURE CAUSED THE DRIVE BELTS TO SLIP, WHICH CAUSED A FAILURE IN THE ALTERNATOR RECHARGING THE BATTERY AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE OIL LEAK. WE HAD THIS VAN, AND THREE TIME TRANSMISSION BLEW FIRST TIME IT BLEW AT 50,000 MILE, SECOND TIME IT BLEW AT 70000 AND THIRD TIME IT BLEW AT 112000 MILE, AND WE ARE NOT GETTING GOOD RESPONSE FROM HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE. FIRST TIME WHEN IT BLEW, I CALL THEM THEY SAID YOU PASSED THE NUMBER OF YEARS SO WE ARE NOT GOING TO FIX IT FREE, I END UP PAYING FROM MY POCKET. I GOT NEW TRANSMISSION FORM HONDA, SECOND TIME WHEN IT BLEW THAT TIME IT IS ONLY 20,000 MILE, WHEN I WENT TO DEALER, THEY SAID THEY COVER ONLY 1 YEAR 12,000 WARRANTY, I END UP PAYING FROM MY POCKET, NOW THIS THIRD TIME IT BLEW UP, IF I AM NOT PROPER RESPONSE THEN I NEED TO THINK IN FUTURE, I MIGHT GO WITH DIFFERENT MANUFACTURE. ELECTRICAL PANEL IS ALSO NOT WORKING. IF HONDA MAKING THIS KIND OF CAR/VAN AND THIS KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEN I NEED TO THINK IN FUTURE, I MIGHT GO WITH DIFFERENT MANUFACTURE.
I PURCHASED HONDA ODYSSEY SEVERAL YEARS AGO FROM A THIRD PARTY SELLER. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 K MILES I STARTED TO NOTICE "JUMP" IN THE GEARS AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED IT WAS TRANSMISSION, MY CAR DIDN'T PASS INSPECTION AND I GOT A SUMMONS ALREADY. I NOW COME TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND SOMEONE SUGGESTED THIS WEBSITE FOR ME TO TAKE THIS CASE FORWARD.
I BROUGHT THIS VAN AT 90,000 MILLES, I REALLY TAKE CARE OF THIS VAN. THE WAS BROKEN THE TRANSMISSION AT 107,000 HONDA FIXED, AGAIN 127,000 AND I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT, AGAIN AT 163,000 AND HONDA FIXED, BUT I HAVE TO PAY AROUND 400.00 FOR SOME EXTRAS THEY REQUEST, AND NOW AGAIN AT 193,000. HONDA REFUSED TO FIX IT, THEN I SPOKE TO THE PEOPLE IN THE MAIN OFFICE IN TORRANCE AND ALSO MY CASE WAS DENIED.I DONT KNOW ANY ABOUT THE PREVIOUS 90,000 MILLES BECAUSE WAS UNDER OTHER OWNER. FOR SURE HAPPEN BEFORE. I ALWAYS FIX EVERYTHING ON TIME, AND REALLY CARE ABOUT THIS VAN. THE BATTERY ON MY HONDA ODYSSEY WAS FOUND DEAD THIS MORNING. THIS IS MORE THAN 10 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS AND MORE THAN 50 TIMES SINCE I GOT IT IN 2007. HAVE HAD THE BATTERY REPLACE AND STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. READING ON THE INTERNET SUGGEST A HONDA ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT THEY DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS SLAMMING INTO 2ND TILL IT STARTED SLIPPING. I PUT IN A USED SOLENOID....BUT IT STILL SLIPS IN 2ND AND ANOTHER SYMPTOM IS TCS LIGHT COMES ON AFTER 5 MIN OR SO DRIVING. [ I CAN MAKE IT GO INTO 2ND IF I REV IT OUT TO ABOUT 25-3000 RPM IN FIRST GEAR AND BACK OFF THE ACCELERATOR FAST AS IT IS GOING IN TO 2ND THEN IT GOES INTO GEAR.] SO I TRIED PUTTING IN A NEW DUAL LINEAR SOLENOID - HAD SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT BUT STILL SLIPS IN 2ND GEAR OR WILL NOT GO INTO 2ND GEAR WITHOUT BACKING OFF ACCELERATOR. I ALSO CHECKED THE OTHER SOLENOIDS WHICH SEEM OK.
TRANSMISSIONS ON THE ODYSSEY HAVE A HABIT OF SEIZING UP. I'M ON MY 3RD TRANNY FOR MY 2000 ODDYSEY. I REPLACED IT AT 112,000 MILES AND 150,000 MILES AT $3,000 A POP. IT'S A SCANDAL AND CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE PAID DAMAGES FOR THE DESIGN FLAWS THAT ARE BEHIND THESE FAILURES. *JS

MY GEAR STARTED SHIFTING WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IT WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS I'VE EXPERIENCED. TRANSMISSION CONVERTER CAUSED THE RED LIGHT TO COME ON AFTER ALL THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS HAD BEEN FIXED BY A HONDA MECHANIC. THERE HAS BEEN SLIPPING OF SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND. VEHICLE HAS HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT DATES: OCTOBER 2002 - FEBRUARY 2003 - APRIL 2005 - JUNE 2008 - PRESENTLY AT HONDA DEALERSHIP REQUIRING A 5TH TRANSMISSION - IT HAS GONE ONLY 42,000 SINCE THE 2008 TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED. HONDA REFUSES TO HELP OR SEE THAT THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE HERE. I AM ASKING THAT THEY REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION AT THEIR EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR TIRES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE DRIVING I HAD TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS BECAUSE THE VAN WAS INSTALLING THEN WOULD DRIVE AGAIN AND THEN KEPT JERKING THEN THE VAN TOTALLY WOULD NOT DRIVE AFTER 5 MINUTES. NEED TO FIND OUT IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS FOR THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO TRY TO GET FIX. *TR
