SEE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 04V176000 OUTLINING RECALL FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. WE FOLLOWED ALL RECALL INSTRUCTIONS, SERVICED THE VEHICLE REGULARLY ONLY THROUGH A CERTIFIED HONDA DEALER AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION HAS TOTALLY FAILED, COSTING $4,800. *TR
WE HAVE A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT SECURELY CLOSE. IT CLOSES MOST OF THE WAY THEN, INSTEAD OF LATCHING, STAYS JUST UNLATCHED AND KEEPS THE WARNING GOING OFF. I HEAR THIS IS A COMMON HONDA PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE MY HAS TO TURN OFF THE ELECTRIC DOORS IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE (EVEN AFTER BUMPING THE DOOR CLOSED) AND THAT (1) NEGATES THE WARNING FEATURE AND (2) MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE IN MY OPINION BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW BUT IT WOULD NOT OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE WINDOW MOTOR. APPROXIMATELY, ONE YEAR LATER, THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTROL ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,462 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,462.
ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION TWICE, THE A/C SYSTEM 3 TIMES AND STARTER. NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS AND WINDOWS AND RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT SEIZED ONE AFTERNOON. ALL SERVICE INTERVALS HAVE BEEN FOLLOWED AS WITH MY OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD TIRES AND FLUID CHANGES WITH NO OTHER FIXES. THE PAINT CONTINUES TO FLAKE OFF EVEN AFTER HONDA OF CONCORD, NC REPAINTED HALF OF THE VEHICLE. 2 YEARS AGO. VEHICLE HAS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED ON DOZENS OF OCCASIONS ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE'S 9TH BATTERY SINCE 2004. SELLING THIS VEHICLE IS NOT AN OPTION BUT REPLACING IT IS. IT WILL NOT BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER HONDA PRODUCT EVER AND I CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS EVER IN THE MARKET FOR ONE OF THESE VANS TO AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT A NIGHTMARE TO WORK WITH AND WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THE REPAIRS I LISTED ABOVE. THEY ARE JUNK. *TR
A PASSENGER IN THE CAR WAS BRINGING THE WINDOW DOWN. THE PASSENGER WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR, JUST FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR WITH A LOUD NOISE. THE WINDOW DID NOT SHATTER BUT THE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL UP. WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. THE DOOR HAD TO BE TAKEN APART TO FIX THE WINDOW. ALSO, WE REPLACED THE PASSENGER DOOR AND DRIVER DOOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS. THE FIRST TIME, THE WINDOW DID NOT WORK. THE SECOND TIME BOTH UNITS WERE REPLACED, THE WINDOW CAN NOW BE CONTROLLED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, BUT NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. SINCE THEN, A NUMBER OF OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY (2003-2005) HAVING THIS EXACT ISSUE HAVE SURFACED. THIS SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE DEALER NOT THE CONSUMER. *TR

WE KEPT GETTING A VIBRATION AT ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR, AND OFTEN IN THE SAME PLACE ON THE ROADS IN TOWN. BECAUSE WE LIVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES FROM A HONDA DEALER AND OUR ODYSSEY IS OUT OF WARRANTY, WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY TRIED SEVERAL FIXES. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF THIS, WE FINALLY TOOK IT TO HONDA AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 97,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN LS. WHILE TURNING INTO A DRIVEWAY AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 10 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE VEHICLE MOMENTARILY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AS HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKES BEFORE BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE DEALER ADVISED REMOVING THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR MATS. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE FLOOR MATS, HOWEVER THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME AND WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT AND WAS DUE TO DRIVER ERROR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 30,494. UPDATED 4/26/10 *CN UPDATED 05/06/10
NORMAL FUNCTIONALITY DRIVING ON TRIP DURING MILD WEATHER ON 29 MARCH 2009 FROM SACRAMENTO AREA TO LOS ANGELES. AFTER DRIVING OVER 5 HOURS, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING DUE TO THE RAPID EJECTION OF TRANSMISSION FLUID FROM THE TRANSMISSION (BREATHER VALVE?) WHICH RESULTED IN SUDDEN AND CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT 79000 MILES AND WAS SERVICED AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP DURING SCHEDULED TRANSMISSION SERVICE. *TR
THE REAR HATCH ON MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY WILL NOT OPEN. THE HANDLE APPEARS TO NO LONGER BE ATTACHED TO THE OPENING MECHANISM. I KNOW THERE ARE SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE INSIDE DOOR PANEL TO REMOVE THIS PANEL, BUT BECAUSE THE DOOR WON'T OPEN, I AM UNABLE TO REACH THE SCREWS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED BOTH AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SENSOR IN THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY WAS NOT RECEIVING A SIGNAL THAT INDICATES THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. THIS CAUSES THE DOOR TO BECOME AJAR. THE DEALER FEELS THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS, BUT THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, HE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WITH THE SHIFTER IN DRIVE. HE WAS ALSO ABLE TO USE THE GEAR SHIFTER AND PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK WITHOUT THE KEY BEING IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
I HAVE RECEIVED MANY NOTICES ABOUT SEVERAL DIFFERENT RECALS
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND TCS LIGHT FLASHING. DIAGNOSIS CODE P0740 INDICATES: TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP MALFUNCTION.VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO THE HIGHEST GEAR AT FREEWAY SPEED, SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING AT APPROX 20 MPH AND GAS MILEAGE HAS DECREASED SIGNIFICANTLY. DETERMINED THAT THERE IS INTERNAL SLIPPING REQUIRING A NEW TRANSMISSION. SEATBELTS DO NOT RETRACT AND GET CAUGHT IN DOORS. SEVERAL AREAS OF BODY HAVE MIDNIGHT BLUE PAINT PEELING. *TR
1. ON SAT, NOVEMBER 22, 2008, MY FAMILY AND I WERE RIDING IN OUR 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. WE WERE TRAVELING WEST ON 94 THROUGH MENOMONIE, WI AT A POSTED SPEED OF 65 MPH. IT WAS 6:15 OR SO, AND THE SUN HAD GONE DOWN. THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD AS IT WAS HUNTING SEASON IN WI. WITHOUT WARNING, 2 LARGE DEER JUMPED IN FRONT OF OUR MINIVAN. MY HUSBAND HIT BOTH DEER - ONE WENT OVER THE TOP OF THE VAN, AND ONE WENT UNDER THE VAN - BOTH DEER WERE KILLED BY THE IMPACT. MY HUSBAND DID NOT LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR, AND WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ELSE. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE, AND THE CAR WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. 2. THE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! WHILE THERE WAS NO PHYSICAL INJURY TO EITHER MY HUSBAND OR MYSELF, I KNOW THERE WAS A DEFECT AS THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN A FRONT END IMPACT AT THAT SPEED. 3. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO DATE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE AS FRONT END OF MINIVAN NEEDS EXTENSIVE REPAIR IN ORDER TO BE DRIVEN AGAIN. *TR
TRANS SHUTTERS AT 30-40 MILES PER HOUR DEALER SAID THAT BECAUSE NO TROUBLE CODES WERE SHOWING UP THEY COULD NOT DO A REPAIR. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND RETURN WHEN THE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON THE VAN HAS 88,000 MILES AND THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES BUT NO CK ENG LIGHT. *TR
WHILE MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP LIGHT, I NOTICED THE GREEN "D" DRIVE LIGHT FLASHING. I CONTACTED DEALER WHO STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS ABOUT TO FAIL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOTED TO BE "SHIFTING HEAVY" INTO SECOND GEAR AND MAKING A "CLUNK" SOUND WHEN SHIFTING. DESPITE BEING OUTSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION RECALL, HONDA AGREED TO PAY FOR 1/2 OF THE REPAIR COST AFTER MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS TO CORPORATE. THE NEW TRANSMISSION CAME WITH A 3 YR/36,000 WARRANTY. ABOUT 12,000 MILES LATER, THE "D" LIGHT AGAIN BEGAN FLASHING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE SECOND TRANSMISSION WITH A THIRD. I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT THE MECHANIC NOTED THE PROBLEM IN SECOND GEAR, THE SAME GEAR AFFECTED BY THE RECALL THAT I WAS NOT A PART OF. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM PROBABLY AFFECTED MANY MORE CARS THAN WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WAS FORCED TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR A KNOWN PROBLEM. I DO NOT HAVE A HITCH AND HAVE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TT
DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE SECURELY AND WILL NOT LOCK. DOOR SLIDES OPEN IN TRANSIT. DOOR HAS HAD DIFFICULTY CLOSING INTERMITTENTLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND WILL NO LONGER CLOSE SECURELY AT ALL. *TR
THE VALVE STEM APPARENTLY DEVELOPED A CRACK AND THE TIRES (2) LOST PRESSURE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY TIRES HAD APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES AND WERE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE 1.5 YEARS AGO (DECEMBER 2006). *TR
I KEPT SMELLING ANTIFREEZE AFTER DRIVING THE VAN BUT NEVER COULD FIND A LEAK. FINALLY, I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING. LOOKING CAREFULLY, I DISCOVERED A COOLANT LEAK AT HEAD GASKET AREA. WHILE REMOVING HEAD ASSEMBLY, I NOTICED TWO BOLTS WERE LOOSE. AFTER REMOVING HEAD ASSEMBLY FROM ENGINE BLOCK, I DISCOVERED STRIPPED THREADS IN ONE OF THE BOLT HOLES TO HOLD THE HEAD ASSEMBLY DOWN. A HELICOIL INSERT WILL BE USED TO REPAIR THREADS BEFORE REASSEMBLY. *TR
THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE VAN RESPONDS TO BRAKING. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROCEDURES DONE ON THE BRAKES BY SEVERAL MECHANICS AND IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I USUALLY PUMP THE BRAKES WHEN I AM STOPPING BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND BY DOING THIS, THE BRAKING SYSTEM RESPONDS BETTER. IT HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS. I PURCHASED THIS VAN USED IN 2008 AND I NOTICED THE MUSHY BRAKES AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. THE DEALER SAID HONDAS' BRAKES ARE KNOWN TO BE MUSHY. THE BRAKES HAVE GOTTEN NOTICEABLY WORSE OVER THE YEARS. *TR
AFTER HAVING 3 OUT OF 4 NEW TIRES GO FLAT DUE TO BAD VALVE STEMS, I ASKED THE DEALER TO CHECK THE VALVE STEM ON THE FOURTH TIRE, THAT HADN'T GONE FLAT YET. THE VALVE STEM WAS ALSO BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH THE DEALER DID FOR FREE. HE STILL IS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL PROBLEMS WITH VALVE STEMS. THANKFULLY, I HAD HIM CHECK THE FOURTH TIRE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT RUSH HOUR MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE WENT FLAT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIRE OUT OF FOUR THAT HAVE GONE FLAT! THE LOCAL POLICE CHANGED IT FOR ME. I TOOK THE TIRE BACK TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID THE VALVE STEM WAS DRY ROT!! ANOTHER ONE. AFTER EXPRESSING MY CONCERN ABOUT HAVING 3 OUT OF 4 TIRES WITH BAD VALVE STEMS, THEY SAID THAT SOMETIME THIS HAPPENS. BECAUSE I HAD DRIVEN ON THE TIRE TO GET TO SAFE SPOT, I HAD TO BUY ANOTHER NEW TIRE. COST @128.31. *TR
I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS AND COULD FELL THE CAR START TO PULL AND FELT THEY CALLED AND SAID THAT THE VALVE STEM WAS BAD ON THIS TIRE. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLACE THE VALVE STEM AND THE TIRE WASN'T DAMAGED. THE COST TO REPLACE VALVE STEM WAS $23.31. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NO LONGER LATCH. IT STARTED OUT A MONTH AGO SPRINGING OPEN AS IT WAS ABOUT TO SHUT ALL THE WAY. THEN WE HAD TO HELP IT, BY PUSHING AS IT SHUT TO GET IT TO CLOSE ALL THE WAY. AFTER A FEW WEEKS, THAT DID NOT WORK EITHER AND WE HAD TO HIP CHECK IT TO GET IT TO CLOSE ALL THE WAY AND LOCK DOWN. NOW EVEN THAT WILL NOT WORK AND IT WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. WE WILL CONSULT OUR MECHANIC. *TR
BRAKING IS "SOFT" OR BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED VERY LOW BEFORE BRAKES WILL ENGAGE. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED NUMEROUS TIMES AND NO ONE CAN FIX IT. *TR
14 MONTHS OLD SIGMA REGENT TIRE (PURCHASED NOV '06). STRANGE VIBRATION SINCE THE DAY THEY WERE PURCHASED. NTB CHECKED TIRES AND BALANCE - NO PROBLEM. THERE IS A BUBBLE WITH SMALL SLITS NEAR THE RIM. NO RIM DAMAGE. NO FAILURE, CAUGHT IT AND REMOVED THE TIRE. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. NTB SAID IT WAS MY PROBLEM, NO THEIRS. *TR
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. HE STATED, WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE VEHICLE SHIFT BEGAN TO SHIFT INTO SECOND, THIRD AND THEN INTO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT REPORTED PROBLEM TO THE DEALER BUT THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO VALID WARRANTY FOR HIS VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE TIRE WENT FLAT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO A SAFE PLACE, BUT DAMAGED THE TIRE BY DRIVING ON IT. THE LOCAL POLICE CHANGED THE TIRE FOR ME. I TOOK THE TIRE BACK TO WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY SAID THE VALVE STEM WAS BAD. I HAD TO BUY A NEW TIRE AT FULL PRICE. *TR
BOTH POWER SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT OPERATE (CLOSE) WITHOUT MANUAL ASSISTANCE. PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO WITH ONE DOOR AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME. RECENTLY THE DOOR SCRAPED DOWN THE ENTIRE SIDE OF THE VAN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR OF THE VAN.*TR
I HAVE A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY W/ DVD SYSTEM. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30-60 MIN THE WIRELESS AUDIO AND THE AUDIO JACKS WILL EMIT A LOUD WHINING SOUND. *TR
MY DAUGHTER AND I BOTH OPENED HER DOOR AT THE SAME TIME (SHE WITH THE HANDLE AND I WITH THE BUTTON ON THE KEY). THE DOOR OPENED JUST A LITTLE AND THEN STOPPED. I ASKED HER TO OPEN THE DOOR AND SHE SAID, "NO, YOU OPEN IT." SHE BEGAN TO GET IN THE CAR (THROUGH THE SMALL OPENING IN THE DOOR) AND I PRESSED THE BUTTON. THE DOOR CLOSED ON HER - IT DID NOT STOP. IT PUSHED HARD ENOUGH AGAINST HER TO CAUSE A HUGE MARK ON HER ARM. IT IS COMPLETELY BLACK AND BLUE AND SHE SCREAMED OUT AND CRIED LOUDLY FROM THE PAIN. THE DOOR AFTER CLOSING ON HER REOPENED. IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER CLOSED ON HER. THE SENSOR SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT IT. - WE TOOK PICTURES OF HER ARM IF YOU NEED THEM. I HAVE ALSO BEEN CAUGHT IN THE DOOR A COUPLE TIMES (TWICE) WHEN I WAS BUCKLING MY KIDS IN AND ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED THE BUTTON. THE DOOR DIDN'T STOP EVEN THOUGH I WAS IN THE DOORWAY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT HAS TO HOLD THE NOZZLE TO ADD FUEL TO THE TANK. THE FUEL WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED FOR TWO WEEKS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V420000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP); HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT INDICATE THE RESULTS. ON OCTOBER 18, 2007, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE FAILURE AND AIR CONDITIONER WIRES WERE HANGING, WHICH COULD POSSIBLY BE RELATED TO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE ESTIMATED PREVIOUS FAILURE WAS ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2007. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE WAS ON OCTOBER 29, 2007. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO CLOSE WHILE SHE WAS PLACING HER CHILD IN THE CAR SEAT. SHE BECAME STUCK AND THE DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE ON HER. THE CONTACT WAS LITERALLY PUSHING THE DOOR IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP IT FROM CLOSING. I BOUGHT THIS ODYSSEY FROM JIM COLEMAN HONDA IN MARYLAND IN 2006 WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS 2004 MODEL. THE AC WORKED 2006 BUT IN 2007 IT DI NOT WORK WHEN WE NEEDED. I CALLED THE HONDA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT COVER AC UNDER THE WARRANTY. I TOOK MY ODYSSEY TO CRISWELL HONDA IN GERMANTOWN IN MARYLAND AND PAID $100.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. IT WORKED FINE FOR A WEEK AND AGAIN NO AC. AFTER THAT WE WENT TO INDIA IN SEP 2007 AND RTN IN DEC 2007. WHEN THE SUMMER CAME IN 2007 WE HAD NO AC I TOOK THE VAN AGAIN TO CRISWELL HONDA AND EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT THEY FIXED THIS IN 2007 THEY LOOKED AND SAID THAT THERE IS A LEAK AND WILL COST $55.00 TO FIX IT. I FOUGHT BACK AND AFTER TALKING TO THE MANAGER THEY SAID IT WILL COST $50.00. I PAID AND AFTER 3 DAYS AGAIN NO AC. COME 2009 MAY I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIRS IS NO VISIBLE LEAKS AT THIS TIME BUT THEY NEED TO PUT THE DYE TO CHK ANY LEAK AND WILL COST ME $560.00 . I GUESS THAT IT IS REGULAR PROBLEM WITH HONDA AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS. GOOD WAY TO MAKE MONEY AND SPOIL YOUR NAME. I HAD A HONDA ACCORD 95 MODEL AND NEVER HAD ISSUE WITH THE AC. I AM GOING TO WRITE TO HONDA IN JAPAN ABOUT THIS. I HAVE JUST CALLED THE AMERICAN HONDA AND GOT THE STANDARD ANSWER FROM MS MARLYN THAT THERE IS NO RECALL OR ADVISORY FROM HONDA ON THIS. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH WHILE MY WIFE WAS RETRIEVING MY 1YR OLD DAUGHTER FROM HER CHILD RESTRAINING DEVICE MY 3.5YR OLD SON ACTIVATED THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING REAR/LEFT PASSENGER DOOR CRUSHING MY WIFE CAUSING BRUSES TO HER LEFT SHOULDER. NEITHER CHILD WERE HURT IN THIS INCIDENT.
BOUGHT THE HONDA IN MAY 2004. NOTICED A SLIGHT HESITATION AT TIMES WHEN ENGINE WAS NOT WARMED UP. I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT IN MY NEW CAR SURVEY FORM AND EACH TIME IT WAS SERVICED. ON 8-5-05 THEY REPLACED EGR VALVE, AS IT SOMETIMES WOULD CAUSE THIS FAILURE. ON 2-5-07 IT TOTALLY QUIT AS I WAS STARTING A TURN INTO PEP BOYS PARKING LOT, IF ANYONE WOULD HAVE BEEN COMING OUT I WOULD HAVE RUN INTO THEM AS I HAD NO STEERING NOR BRAKES. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND SAID I WANTED IT FIXED BEFORE I WOULD HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I HAD MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT THE LEMON LAW AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT HONDA OF AMERICA, WHICH I DID. END RESULT WAS DEALER TOOK CAR FOR THREE DAYS IN MARCH 2007. THEY TESTED IT BUT COULD NOT MAKE IT FAIL SO NOTHING WAS DONE. 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS MALFUNCTION IN TRANSMISSION. *TR
I HAD A LONG WAIT AT A PHARMACY DRIVE UP WINDOW SO WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, I PUT THE SHIFT IN PARK AND SET THE FOOT BRAKE. ON AN ATTEMPT TO MOVE FORWARD I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER FROM PARK BUT IT WAS LOCKED IN THE PARK POSITION AND WOULD NOT MOVE. I QUICKLY LOOKED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON PAGE 185-6 WHICH DESCRIBED REMOVAL OF A TRAP ACCESS DOOR AND INSERTING THE IGNITION KEY TO UNLOCK THE PARK CONDITION. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A PEN KNIFE I WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE CONDITION. THE TRAP DOOR WAS ALMOST INDISCERNIBLE DESIGNED INTO THE TOP OF THE DASH ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND DIFFICULT TO EVEN GET THE SHARP BLADE OF A PEN KNIFE IN THE CRACK TO PRY OPEN. THE SERVICE PERSONNEL CHECKED MY BRAKE LIGHTS TO SEE IF THEY WERE WORKING AND THEY WERE OK. APPARENTLY THERE IS A RELATIONSHIP TO THE PARK CONDITION. I ASK WHAT A WOMAN IS SUPPOSED TO DO IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN AND THEY HAD NO SUGGESTION. WHY CAN'T THE CONTROLS BE DESIGNED SO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE ENGINE TO UNLOCK THE LOCKED CONDITION. I CAN SEE THIS CONDITION AS A DISASTER ON A JAMMED FREEWAY. PUTTING A REMEDY IN THE DRIVERS MANUAL IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THIS RATHER PERPLEXING SITUATION, ESPECIALLY FOR NON MECHANICAL DRIVERS WITH POOR PERCEPTION SKILLS AND IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. *JB

WHEN PARKING ON A SLIGHT INCLINE WITH THE FRONT DOORS WIDE OPEN THEY CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE. I ALMOST HAD A CRUSHED HAND FROM UNEXPECTED FAILURE OF THE DETENT TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN. THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY HEAVIER DOORS DUE TO SIDE IMPACT REINFORCEMENT. CAN'T THE DETENT SPRING LOAD BE INCREASED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL #04V176000, REGARDING THE POWERTRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DUE TO THE VIN. THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH ON DRY NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, AND CAUSED A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A ONE WAY STREET SIGN. BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A THERMAL BURN ON THE TOP OF HER LEFT HAND, BRUISED KNEE AND RIGHT RING FINGER. ALSO, THE LEFT SLEEVE OF THE DRIVER'S JACKET SUSTAINED A BURN FROM THE AIR BAG. BOTH OCCUPANTS IN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WORE THEIR SEAT BELTS. THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS 15 INCHES AWAY FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE WERE NO PICTURES AVAILABLE, BUT A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TOWING LOT, TO AWAIT INSPECTION. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SLIDING DOORS FAILED TO OPEN OR CLOSE AND THE DOORS OPENED ON THEIR OWN, INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE CODE FOR THE DOORS MORE THAN FIVE TIMES. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE MOTOR, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED MORE IN COLD WEATHER.

AN INSURANCE ADJUSTOR INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
