WITHIN ONE MINUTE OF GETTING INTO MY CAR AND DRIVING MY CAR, THE FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY OUTSIDE IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE. MY DRIVING CAR SPEED AT THE TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD POP NOISE, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE HORN BLEW, AND THERE WAS ALOT OF SMOKE. I QUICKLY PULLED THE CAR OVER AND WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR. I OPENED THE CAR DOOR AND A SMOKE VAPOR CAME OUT. I HAVE A BURN TO MY SKIN ON MY LEFT HAND. THE PASSENGER HAS CHEST PAIN. I HAVE HAD RECALLS FIXED BEFORE. ....UPDATED 10-27-15 *BF *CN

2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM RECALL NOTICE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WITHIN A MONTH OF HAVING THE FIRST RECALL WORK COMPLETED (REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE INFLATOR), THE SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIR BAG WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WOULD NOT OPERATE UNTIL THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. *JB
THE DRIVE (D) LIGHT ON THE GEAR SHIFT STARTED BLINKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I PULLED OVER AND SHIFTED TO PARK, BUT THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO BLINK. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE BLINKING HAD STOPPED. AMERICAN HONDA HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO A 2004 TRANSMISSION-RELATED RECALL, AND THAT IF SO HONDA WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. HOWEVER, IT MUST BE DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER, AND HONDA DEALERS CHARGE A $115 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. BOTH THE DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA HAVE TOLD ME THEY CANNOT WAIVE THE FEE. HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT THE FEE SHOULD BE WAIVED AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST IS TO DETERMINE WHETHER HONDA WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. IF THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, WE DO NOT INTEND TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP USED 4 YEARS AGO WITH 104K MILES ON IT FOR $10K. I'D HAD IT INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND IT RECEIVED A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. I'VE DRIVEN THIS CAR FOR AN ADDITIONAL 40K MILES AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION FAIL WITH MY 3 TODDLER BOYS IN THE CAR ON THE WAY BACK FROM A SOCCER GAME (QUITE FRIGHTENING). I'M NOW BEING TOLD THAT IT WILL COST $5K TO REPAIR! AND NOW THAT I'M LOOKING FURTHER INTO THIS CAR, IT'S CLEAR THAT THERE'S ONGOING TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT HONDA HAS NOT ADDRESSED. PAINT BEGAN PEELING SOMETIME BUT NOT NOTICEABLY UNTIL A YEAR AGO. WHEN SERVICED AT A HONDA DEALER, THEY SHRUGGED AND SAID THEY DIDN'T HANDLE PAINT. THE DAMAGE HAS INCREASED GREATLY (SEE PHOTOS) AND RUST IS BEGINNING TO BE VISIBLE. THE PAINT FLAKES OFF WHILE I DRIVE. I CANNOT SELL THE CAR IN THIS SHAPE. HONDA'S UNDERCOAT IS BLAMED IN RESEARCH I HAVE MADE. I HAVE ALWAYS TRUSTED HONDA, BUT AM ALARMED AND UNABLE TO BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING. WANT TO SELL THIS CAR BACK TO HONDA FOR BLUE BOOK PRICE.

I RECEIVED A SECOND RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA LAST MARCH STATING THAT THE SECOND PART FOR AIRBAG RECALL WOULD BE READY IN SUMMER 2015. I CALLED A DEALER A FEW TIMES TO SEE THE PART WAS AVAILABLE. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS ALMOST A YEAR SINCE HONDAY NOTIFIED ME OF THE RECALL. I CANNOT BELIEVE WHY THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE BY NOW.

ENGINE LIGHT AND TCS LIGHT CAME ON, GEARS STOPPED SHIFTING AT HIGH RPMS. SOON, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. CAR FAILED TO MOVE ON A BUSY FREEWAY OVERPASS EXIT. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES WITH THE ENGINE OFF, I TURNED IT BACK ON AND HOBBLED IN FIRST GEAR OFF THE OVERPASS. MECHANIC SAID IT WAS TYPICAL OF 2004 ODYSSEYS TO HAVE TRANSMISSIONS FAIL. I HAD ALL MAJOR SERVICES AT HONDA DEALER ( FOUR WHEELS ALIGNMENT AT 95000 MILES IN 2012, TIMING BELL AT 100000 MILES IN 2012, OIL TRANSMISSION SERVICE AT 109500 MILES IN 2013, ALIGNMENT AT 121000 IN 2013). I BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 7 YEARS OR 100000 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR. DURING THAT TIME PERIOD AND ALL SERVICES AT HONDA DEALER THEY DID NOT ADVISE ANY THING. TODAY I BROUGHT MY CAR FOR AIR BAG RECALL, ALIGNMENT AND OIL TRANSMISSION SERVICE, THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE ALL THREE ENGINE MOUNT COST APPROXIMATELY $1380. I WAS SHOCK BECAUSE IT TOO EXPENSIVE. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ENGINE MOUNTS EASY TO BREAK. I WENT HOME RESEARCHING ONLINE AND SURPRISING TO DISCOVER THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THIS ENGINE MOUNT DEFECTED OR DESIGN PROBLEM CAUSE ENGINE MOUNTS EASY TO BREAK (NORMALLY NEED TO REPLACE OVER 200000 MILES) AND HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE PASSENGER DOOR START, IT TO BEEP TO MY WIFES SURPRISE THE POWER DOOR NEVER LATCHED, SHE HAD TO PULL OVER AND BUMP THE DOOR TO MAKE IT LATCH. WHEN SHE CAME HOME I CHECKED THE DOOR AND CLEARLY SEE THE DOOR APPEAR AS CLOSED BUT IT DOES NOT SHUT AND IF YOU DON'T BUMP THE DOOR IT DOES NOT LATCH AT ALL. EVIDENTLY THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE BUT SHE NEVER HAD IT TO ADJURE BEFORE VERY, VERY DANGEROUS AND IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. WE HAD IT LOOKED AT ONCE AND THEY SAID IT IS FIXED BUT HERE WE GO AGAIN.

TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND STOPS WORKING COMPLETELY. HAVE TO CHANGE FLUID ABOUT EVERY 750 MILES TO KEEP IT MOVING SOMEWHAT
I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH HONDA OVER MY SRS UNIT. I WAS TOLD IN JANUARY (WHILE I WAS GETTING AN AIRBAG RECALL INSTALLED) THAT MY SRS UNIT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $1200. I WAITED FOR MY TAX RETURN AND NOW THERE'S A BRAND NEW RECALL ON THE SRS UNIT BUT THOSE PARTS WON'T BE AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. BUT IN THE MEAN TIME... MY SRS UNIT IS FAULTY. THEY TOLD ME IN JANUARY THAT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH MY AIRBAGS WOULD NOT BE DEPLOYED AND MY SEATBELTS WOULDN'T TIGHTEN OR ANYTHING! SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO OFFERED ME A RENTAL UNTIL THEY HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK INTO IT (VERY NICE) BUT NOW THEY ARE SAYING THEY CANNOT OFFER A RENTAL UNTIL THE PART COMES IN, THEY WANT TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON MY DOLLAR ($115 TO BE PRECISE) BECAUSE HE TOLD ME EVEN IF THE RECALLED PART WAS INSTALLED MY SRS LIGHT WOULDN'T TURN OFF-- THAT IT WAS 'MOST LIKELY SOMETHING ELSE'. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED THAT HONDA WOULDN'T TAKE MY SITUATION MORE SERIOUSLY, THIS SEEMS LIKE A HUGE LIABILITY ISSUE FOR THEM.
