HONDA WILL NOT WARRANTY FAILED FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS. DUE TO 36,000/ THREE YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRATION. A FEDERAL MANDATE RECALL ON FRONT AIRBAGS WAS ALREADY EXECUTED ON THIS VEHICLE. WHY HAS HONDA NOT BEEN MADE TO WARRANTY ALL AIRBAGS SYSTEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEATS. DOES IT TAKE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO MAKE THE NHTSA REGULATE MANUFACTURES TO STAND BEHIND THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT IN THEIR VEHICLES FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I HOPE THAT MY COMPLAINT ALONG WITH OTHER VEHICLE OWNER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE WILL BE ADDRESSED ASAP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BECAME FRACTURED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SECURE THE SEATBELT AND WOULD NOT REMAIN IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT TRACK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED BUT ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE WILLING TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COSTS DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,835.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V351000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE HORN INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATED. IN ADDITION, THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED TO OPEN. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER FRONTAL AIR BAG RECALL. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I PURCHASED A HONDA ODYSSEY FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALER MARCH 2012 WITH 122,000 MILES ON IT AND WHAT I WAS TOLD WAS A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. NOVEMBER 2014 I DROVE THE CAR TO MY GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE 5 HOURS AWAY FOR THANKSGIVING AND THE DAY AFTER THE RETURN TRIP THE CAR BEGAN SLIPPING GEARS. HONDA WANTS $5,100 TO FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS IN IT NOW IF THEY INDEED PUT A NEW ONE IN IT IS ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD AND HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT!! THAT IS RIDICULOUS!! I PAID $7,900 FOR A CAR THAT LASTED ME ONLY 47,000 MILES!! *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN THE VAN SUDDENLY QUIT PULLING. IT FELT LIKE IT HAD GONE INTO NEUTRAL, BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT THE VAN KEPT SLOWING DOWN. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO ALLOW ME TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BAD. I HAD 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VAN, AS WE WERE GOING TO SPEND THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WITH FAMILY. SO WE WERE SEVERAL HOURS FROM HOME AND NO WAY TO GET TO OUR FAMILY OR BACK TO OUR HOUSE. IT WAS A SCARY ORDEAL FOR MY AND MY CHILDREN. WHEN WE FINALLY GOT THE VAN TOWED HOME AND TO A SHOP, WE WERE TOLD WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THIS PARTICULAR MAKE/MODEL/YEAR IS NOTORIOUS FOR HAVING THE TRANSMISSION GO OUT. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA THIS AFTERNOON. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WITH ANY COST OF A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD MY COMPLAINT STOPPED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP I WAS SPEAKING WITH, BUT MY CLAIM IS AVAILABLE TO THE ENGINEERS IN CASE THEY WANT TO SEE IF MY MAKE/MODEL/YEAR HAS HAD ANY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS FILED. I ASKED HIM HOW THEY WOULD EVEN KNOW TO LOOK FOR COMPLAINTS IF THEY WEREN'T MADE AWARE OF ANY COMPLAINTS. ALL IN ALL, I HAVE A CLAIM NUMBER FOR A COMPLAINT THAT WILL GO NO FURTHER THAN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE WITH OVER THE PHONE. VERY DISAPPOINTING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V700000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIRED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ON 11/15/2014 WAY TO WORK AROUND 65 MPH AND SUDDENLY FELT A JERK AS SOME ONE HIT FROM BEHIND, LOOKED AROUND AND KEEP DRIVING FELT JERK AGAIN AND SPEED OF VEHICLE CAME DOWN PULLED CAR TO THE SIDE. STOPPED THE ENGINE FOR FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN PUT GEAR IN DRIVE AND CAR IS MOVING VERY SLOWLY EVEN GIVING ENOUGH GAS. END OF CALLING TOW TRUCK AND TOWED CAR TO CLOSE BY DEALER. DEALER CALLED ME TODAY 11/15/2014 TO INFORM THERE IS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND NEED AROUND $6000 IN REPAIRS. *TR
I CONTACTED A HONDA DEALER (HONDA OF COLUMBIA, LEXINGTON, SC 29072) FOR MY ODYSSEY VAN AIRBAG RECALL ON 10 NOV AND FILED THE RECALL REPAIR. I ASKED A SERVICE REP WHAT I NEEDED TO DO WHEN THE AIRBAG WERE NOT SAFE. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO KEEP DRIVING MY VAN AT MY OWN RISK WHILE NEW AIRBAGS WERE ON ORDER! ON 31 DEC, I WENT TO THE DEALER AND ASKED THE STATUS OF MY AIRBAG RECALL FIX STATUS. THEY GAVE ME THE SAME ANSWER THAT I HAD TO DRIVE MY VAN AT MY OWN RISK UNTIL THE AIRBAGS WOULD ARRIVE, BUT DID NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT TOOK. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT RIGHT! HONDA CAR OWNER HAVE TO KEEP DRIVING AT THEIR OWN RISKS WHEN THE SAFETY PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY THE COMPANY? THE COMPANY MUST OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE CAR FOR AFFECTED CUSTOMERS UNTIL THEIR CARS ARE FIXED. WAITING FOR 2 MONTHS OR LONGER IS NOT ACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RECALL MAY CAUSE A FATAL RESULT. *TR
I BROUGHT MY HONDA ODYSSEY INTO THE KUHN HONDA DEALERSHIP (TAMPA, FL) FOR RECALL WITH REGARD TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM NHTSA 14V-351 AND 14V-353. THEY MADE THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENTS OF THE AIRBAGS, SRS MODIFICATION AND SHIFT INTERLOCK. AFTER THIS MODIFICATION, THE AIR BAG SRS LIGHT LIT UP AND THEY TOLD ME I NEED A NEW SRS UNIT. THEY STATED THEY COULD SELL ME A USED ONE FOR $350-400 PLUS INSTALLATION. I TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT A USED SRS UNIT AND WOULD PURCHASE A NEW ONE FROM HONDA. I HAD THEM INSTALL THE NEW SRS UNIT ON DECEMBER 17, 2014. IN MARCH, 2014, I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE (NHTSA RECALL 15V-045 STATING THAT HONDA SRS UNITS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND MY HONDA DEALERSHIP WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITH ME WHEN THEY RECEIVED A NEW SRS UNIT FOR MY VEHICLE. ON JUNE 10, 2015, KUHN HONDA REPLACED MY SRS UNIT A SECOND TIME BUT I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT THIS TIME. I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR IT THE FIRST TIME BACK IN DECEMBER 2014 BUT THEY STATED IF I DID NOT THE CAR WOULD NOT BE SAFE. I HAVE A COMPLETE COMPILATION OF RECALLS AND DEALERSHIP RECEIPTS/DOCUMENTATION THAT I HAVE SAVED AND CAN EMAIL IF NECESSARY.

DEALERSHIP POSITION IS THAT FAILURE IS DUE TO AGE, AND WILL NOT REPLACE AT ITS COST. METAL BRACKET IS NOT RUSTED AT FAILURE LOCATION. PICTURES SHOW STRESS FATIGUE DUE TO RIVETING PROCESS. REPAIR COST = $1681. CURRENT BLUE BOOK VALUE = $2475. COST FOR ME TO REPAIR IS EXCESSIVE. OTHER SIMILAR FAILURES REPORTED ON INTERNET SINCE 2002. I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE WAY HONDA OFFICIALS AND THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN HANDING MY REQUESTS TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT; HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO SEND THIS COMPLAINT TO YOU I HAD TO ENTER AN ACCIDENT DATE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING SINCE MARCH 2014 TO GET THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE AIR BAGS IN MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. ACCORDING TO A HONDA OFFICIAL AT 1-800-999-1009 AND THE OFFICIAL HONDA WEBSITE, BOTH MY DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAGS ARE AFFECTED TO BY RECALL NOTICE. HOWEVER, SINCE MARCH I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CONTACTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND CONTINUE TO GET A RUN AROUND. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE BAGS UNTIL THEY PROVE, IN DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, TO BE DEFECTIVE. I WILL BE CHARGED $90 FOR EACH TEST THEY FIND NEGATIVE. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT ALL AIRBAGS FROM THIS REGION OF THE COUNTRY AND BEARING MY VIN, MAKE AND MODEL WERE TO BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A PAPER RECALL NOTICE, BECAUSE ACCORDING TO A HONDA OFFICIAL ON 9/15/14, THE DELAY IN MAILING THEM OUT IS DUE TO THE LACK OF SUFFICIENT AVAILABLE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS TO HANDLE THE RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE LEFT SEVERAL VOICE MAIL MESSAGES WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, BUT NO ONE HAS RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS. JUST WHAT AM I EXPECTED TO DO? HOW LONG MUST I WAIT TO RECEIVE PROPER NOTICE FROM HONDA OFFICIALS? AM I EXPECTED TO PAY FOR ALL OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS? THE CONTACT SHIFTED GEARS TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A BEEPING NOISE AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,950.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO LACERATIONS TO THE LEFT ARM, BURNS ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT HANDS, AND A SMALL CUT TO THE RIGHT HAND FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYING. THE CONTACT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BRUISE TO THE CHEST BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION FAILURE DURING A RECENT TRIP. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE LOST POWER(SPEED) WHILE TRAVELING. *TGW THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE RPM'S INCREASED RAPIDLY AND SMOKE STARTING EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION AND OIL COOLER WERE REPLACED. *JB
OUR HONDA ODYSSEY'S TRANSMISSION FAILED UNDER VERY SCARY CIRCUMSTANCES---WITH MY WIFE AND DISABLED SON ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY. AS SHE TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE VAN'S ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE----LEAVING THE VAN COASTING INTO TRAFFIC. THANKFULLY, SHE WAS ABLE TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY JUST BEFORE A VEHICLE THAT WAS APPROACHING FROM BEHIND WOULD HAVE MADE IMPACT. SHE AND MY SON WERE VERY LUCKY. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT EXHIBITING ANY KIND OF SHIFTING PROBLEMS. IN DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW PROBLEM. *TR

THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING THE CONTACT TO SUSTAIN BURNS ON BOTH HANDS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, THE ENGINE OVER REVVED BUT THE WHEELS WERE NOT MOVING. I WAS ON CITY STREETS MAKING A TURN - LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS AS THE GEARS WERE NOT ENGAGING. AFTER I NAVIGATED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD ON BEING PUT IN GEAR. THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER - LATER I REALIZED IT WAS PROBABLY BURNING OR OVERHEATED TRANSMISSION FLUID. ON TOWING THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THE DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND ADVISED ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS, THE 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" AND THE "TCS OFF LIGHT" HAD BEEN COMING ON AND OFF OCCASIONALLY. I HAD ALSO NOTICED THE VEHICLE NOT RESPONDING TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING PRESSED IN A NORMAL FASHION. *JS
DRIVING 2004 ODYSSEY (140K MILES) DOWN I-95 IN RICHMOND (FROM NOVA) AND STARTED LOSING POWER (DROPPING SPEED WITH INCREASING RPMS). BAD SMELL AND SMOKE OUT THE BACK LED ME TO BELIEVE IT WAS MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. FOUND A SHOP THAT REPLACED THE CC. WHILE REPLACING THEY NOTICED LOTS OF OIL UNDER MY VEHICLE. TURNS OUT IT WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE SHOP TOPPED OFF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID (4 QTS), LET IT RUN FOR A WHILE, DIDN'T SEE A LEAK, AND I DROVE OFF THE LOT. I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON SO I RETURNED TO THE AUTO SHOP. THEY WERE HAVING TROUBLE ERASING THE ERROR CODE SO THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF SO THEY RECOMMENDED I HAVE IT FIXED WHEN I RETURNED HOME. I WAS ON MY WAY TO A NORTH CAROLINA BEACH WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED (ALBEIT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL LIT). LOCAL DRIVING AT THE BEACH AT LOW SPEEDS (BELOW 40 MPH) CAUSED NO ISSUES. THE FOLLOWING WEEK ON MY WAY FROM THE NC BEACH TO NOVA, THE TCS LIGHT WAS NOW LIT (IN ADDITION TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT). WITHIN A FEW MILES I ENCOUNTERED A SIMILAR SITUATION WHILE HEADING NORTH ON I-95 (AS I DID THE WEEK BEFORE WHILE HEADING SOUTH ON I-95) THOUGH NOT AS SEVERE (SLIGHT DROP IN SPEED WITH INCREASING RPMS, BAD SMELL WITH SMOKE OUT THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE). I FOUND OUT THE NEXT DAY ABOUT THE HONDA ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. SOUNDS LIKE I WAS LUCKY TO GET 140K OUT OF IT, THOUGH NOT HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT THE LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN BY HONDA. THE MOTOR MOUNTS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE HAS BEEN A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE UPON ACCELERATION FOR SOME TIME. I BROUGHT IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY ARE TELLING US THAT WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNTS AT OVER $1000.00. HE HAS TOLD US THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL VEHICLE. WE HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY OTHERS COMPLAINING TO YOU AND HONDA, AS WELL AS OTHER FORUM BOARDS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT IS BEING OVERLOOKED BY HONDA. MOTOR MOUNTS ARE NOT A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PART. THEY SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT ALL. 5/6/14 TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL SERVICE STATION FOR DIAGNOSIS OF CLUNKING ENGINE NOISE. HAD TO PAY $1400 TO REPLACE BOTH MOTOR MOUNTS THAT WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT . ALSO HAS TO REPLACE THE OUTER TIE RODS THAT WERE WORN OUT CREATING A COMPLETELY UNSAFE VEHICLE. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, THE D LIGHT WENT BLACK. SUDDENLY IT CAME BACK ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO THE SERVICE STATION AND THEY NOW DIAGNOSED IT WITH THE P0740 CODE TCC LOCKUP SOLENOID. CALLED SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SHOPS THAT TOLD ME THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS IS TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $3500 AND UP. THIS IS VERY DISCERNING THAT THE TRANSMISSION DIDN'T LAST LONGER AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND HONDA REFUSES TO ISSUE THE RECALL ON ALL 2004 TRANSMISSIONS. THERE ARE SERVICE BULLETINS OUT THERE REFERRING TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST STATING THE VEHICLE IS WAY OUT OF WARRANTY TO ASSIST FINANCIALLY. I HAVE HAD ALL THE SERVICE DONE AT THE DEALER UNTIL THERE WAS AN ISSUE LAST YEAR WITH THE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONER THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY FIX AFTER 6 VISITS AND NUMEROUS COOLANT FLUSHES. IT WAS THURSDAY, EARLY EVENING, AND I WAS DRIVING ON A COUNTRY ROAD, APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, WHEN THE 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN'S POWER CUT OUT. THE ENGINE WENT DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT JUST SUDDENLY CUT OFF FOR NO REASON. I WAS ABLE WITH DIFFICULTY TO STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE IGNITION "OFF" AND CALLED MY HUSBAND THINKING I MIGHT NEED AAA TO COME TOW THE CAR. AFTER THE VAN SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO START AGAIN, BUT IT SOUNDED TERRIBLE AND THE ENGINE'S ENGAGEMENT FELT WEAK. I WAS A FEW MILES FROM AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND DECIDED TO SLOWLY DRIVE IT THERE AND LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT. I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND THE MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON MY VAN OF WHICH I WAS UNAWARE. I LOOKED UP THE RECALLS ON THE NHTSA SITE THAT HONDA AND ISSUED AND NOTICED THAT MY VAN'S VIN NUMBER WAS IN THE RANGE THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I CALLED LOCAL HONDA DEALERS ABOUT THIS AS WELL AS THE HONDA CORPORATE NUMBER. EACH SAID THAT EVEN THOUGH MY VAN'S VIN WAS IN THE BATCH THAT WAS RECALLED AND EVEN THOUGH THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED WAS THE REASON FOR THE RECALL, THEY DID NOT FEEL OBLIGED TO ASSIST WITH THE VAN'S REPAIR. NEITHER THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER NOR HONDA CORPORATE WOULD GIVE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THEY FELT THEY DID NOT NEED TO SHOULDER ANY OF THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT COSTS.
